What would you say to anyone who is buying into that way of viewing new gun owners? 4) How and why did you become a firearm instructor?

Our guest today is Lanny Barnes. Lanny is a three-time Olympian in Biathlon and is a National & World Champion in several shooting disciplines. Lanny is currently teaching courses to military, law enforcement and competitive shooters on the physiological and psychological aspects of shooting. Lanny & her twin sister, Tracy, spend a majority of their free time traveling around to schools, 4-H clubs, and Boys & Girls Clubs, talking to children about following their dreams, setting goals, and leading a healthy active lifestyle. Our guest today is Dr. Dick Caster. Dr. Caster is one of the Originators and Founders of the FASTERSavesLive Emergency Response Program that has been protecting and saving the lives of school children across the nation for a decade. Holding a doctorate in School Administration and having worked as an Instructor and Director of the National Association of School Resource Officers, Dr Caster has a deep understanding of the need and importance of securing our nation’s schools as we do every building that houses our nations treasures. In the early 2000s Dr. Caster, along with John Benner, the Founder and Owner of Tactical Defense Institute, wrote a school safety curriculum that would eventually become the FASTERSavesLives Training Manual. Tragically, it took the murders at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012 for teachers and administrators to understand and begin to demand this kind of armed and unarmed emergency training as well as the emergency field medical supplies and training that FASTER includes in the training. 1) Walk us through those early days when you and John Benner were writing a manual? Was there an impetus that spurred you to write it? 2) At the time when you wrote that original manual surely you imagined it would never be accepted in schools. Yet you wrote it anyway. How did you go from words on paper to the very first training class? - A week-long training program for the "Single Officer Response to an Active Killer" offered to law enforcement officers through the National Association of School Resource Officers. 3) What have been some of your greatest successes and biggest frustrations over the years? 4) Why is it important for us to study previous murders, including the methods and the motivations? 5) There seems to be a shift in the behaviors of people who commit these horrendous murders, from someone who is acting out a grievance to nowadays someone seeking some twisted idea of glory or fame. How does this impact our responses?

Our guest today is Jim Irvine. Jim Irvine is a Director with FASTERSavesLives and the President of the Buckeye Firearms Foundation (BFF). With both of these organizations, Jim works with legislators and interested parties to enact positive changes to Ohio firearm and self-defense laws. Jim is also a husband, father, and a professional airline pilot. 1) Give us brief overview of what FASTER is, and how long this training has been helping to keep schools, churches, synagogues, and other organizations safe? 2) Recently, I was honored to be a participant in the training. The training is serious and focused. I have been shooting most of my life and I wasn’t able to pass your firearms / accuracy qualification test. Talk to us about what is involved in the course? 3) While I was in OH the OH Supreme Court made a ruling that could threaten this decade-long program and cause schools to be less safe. Talk to us about this ruling. 4) Schools are once again open all over the nation and horribly, bad guys WILL take advantage of the “Gun Free Zone” signs. Many administrators and educators are going to want to have this kind of training – medical and physical (armed and unarmed) preparedness – how can they get signed up for a class?

Our guest today is Steve Pomper. Steve is an author, freelance writer, and retired Seattle police officer. During his career, he served as a field training officer, on the Community Police Team, and as a mountain bike patrol coordinator. He has written several books, and his latest title is “The Obama Gang: How Barack Obama, through his post-presidency foundation, assembled, launched, and wages the new assault on American law enforcement”. 1) Before we dive into your new book...my favorite line on your website is: “What’s the Most Government Can Do for Me? The Least Government Can Do for Me.” That is a very Libertarian stance. You have also been a Law Enforcement Officer. There are more than a few people who would say that those are competing mindsets. He is an elite navy diver serving on the teams in the reserves forces in the UK. Our guest today is Jeff Gottesfeld. Jeff writes for page, stage, and screen. His current focus is picture book texts for children, and he just published his latest title, Twenty-One Steps: Guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. 1) It is interesting how we each grow and change through our life experiences and the historical events that happen during our lifetimes. When you were younger your views were different than they are today. So, how did a former Vietnam War protestor like yourself come to write a book like this? - I'll talk about my upbringing in the liberal (not leftist then, but liberal) bastion of Teaneck NJ, first school system in the country to voluntarily integrate, and my skepticism (at best!) in high school and early college about American institutions and the military. Then came the American resupply of Israel in the 1973 war, the Beirut bombing against our Marines in the early 1980s, Gulf War I, and a lot of travel on my part through the USA and Europe. In short, my vision of our country's institutions and its military changed. Drastically. 2) This book runs so counter so much else going on in children's literature these days. What do you have to say about that? - I'll want to talk about how much of children's lit these days focuses on certain values like kindness, tolerance, and compassion, and how those are important values, but not the ONLY values. Also, how there's a ton of focus on issues of identity after so much neglect for so long, which is a good thing...but it's not the only thing. This book is about another way to look at identity, which is selflessness, selfless service, and self-effacement. It's radical in that way. 3) Can you read us your favorite passage, and give us some insight into why it's important? - I'll read from the section of the first Unknown lying in state in the Capitol, and how in our not knowing the identity of the Unknown, we can all have equal claim and love for him. The giving up of identity is actually the key to his emergence as a core American symbol.

Christ himself said, all those 2,000 years ago that chaff and wheat would be separated, and that he knew he was part of that sifting and sorting. He actually said in the Gospels that family member would turn against family member. How do we, as Christians, interpret and square a duty to defend with a duty to become separate from those who are of and in the World? 4) How were guns viewed in the household you were raised in? Were you raised with firearms?

Our guest today is Dr. Kelli Ward. Kelli is an osteopathic physician and politician who has served as the Chair of the Arizona Republican Party since 2019. She also served in the Arizona State Senate from 2012 to 2015. 1) Kelli, there is an historic audit taking place right now and right here in our State of AZ. Audits are just a formalized way of “showing your work”. We have been audited by the IRS for finances and by the ATF for our firearms business. Neither was a “Constitutional Crisis”. Our very Founders “called into question” the actions of the Government – which is why we even have a United States – please help us understand why some people – including some Republicans are so against this audit? 2) Some of the people who are against this audit are Republicans. Some are citing that to say that there is a rift and a split in the Republican Party. What would you say about that? 3) The best outcome is that we discover that the election was a “perfect” as the Board of Supervisors seem to think it is. That would mean that our elections are safe, secure, and trustworthy. But, the same people who insist that things are “fine” are the ones who are fighting against having their work checked. The 2022 Elections are only months away – whatever the outcome of the audit, will AZ be ready to hold free and fair elections by then? 4) What is the most important thing for the citizens of AZ to know right now about this audit?

In your book from 2019 They're Both Wrong: A Policy Guide for America's Frustrated Independent Thinkers you talk about how both Democrats and Republicans have turned the Constitution on its head. Can you break that down for us a bit? 3) Looking over your book titles, back in 2016 Who Needs the Fed? You wrote about the central bank's onrushing economic irrelevance. While only 5 years ago, that seems ahead of the curve in the public’s consciousness when thinking about how we could possibly do without the Fed. Tell us about this book. 4) In your most recent book When Politicians Panicked: The New Coronavirus, Expert Opinion, and a Tragic Lapse of Reason you make the case that there were errors and mistakes. But, through the lens of Globalism these “mistakes” look a bit more calculated. Talk to us about that. - Tamny methodically dismantles the political consensus by showing how economic growth has long been the first and last answer to death and disease. He then shows how politicians, having mindlessly crushed a growing economy, proceeded to double down on their mistakes by throwing taxpayer money at their shocking errors. 5) Our next round of elections across the nation are only a few months away. We need to secure our election process, we need to raise up new leaders, we need to elect people who are dedicated to being public servants and Constitutionalists. How can we do that in just a few months’ time? 6) What is on the horizon for FreedomWorks?

Our guest today is Ashley Hlebinsky. Ashley is one of the nation’s foremost authorities on firearms history. And, in her “spare time” she is a television host and producer. 1) In our intro we mentioned that you are an expert witness. You recently offered testimony as a subject matter expert to Senate Judiciary’s Subcommittee on the Constitution, in a hearing titled: Stop Gun Violence: Ghost Guns. But, you don’t use that term and told the Senate as much. Can you expound on that? - “Firstly, I will not be using the term ghost gun and that’s because as a historian I try to be as precise as possible and the term is used more as a rhetorical tool, a marketing tool and because of that, it can create a false sense of authority on the subject,” Hlebinsky told the senators. It’s too easy to conflate with something that is invisible, undetectable or untraceable. None of which is true. privately made firearms have been around for centuries, basically since the first system was developed over 500 years ago.” 2) The people who consider themselves Pro-Rights too often adopt the language of the Prohibitionists. We have “assault rifle”, “ghost gun”, and even “sanctuary cities”. In some ways there is strength in appropriating language. But, then we find ourselves on our back foot trying to un-attach the connotations that the Prohibitionists use to scare the public. As a historian, how do you see this language issue playing out in the long run? 3) You occupy a unique space in a heated and polarizing conversation. You are decidedly and agnostic in your political leanings in public and in your work. The 2A is not a political issue, but it has become political football over the years. How do you manage to be both neutral in our current political climate? 4) What other projects are you currently working on?

Our guest today is Austin Smith. Austin is the National Field Director of Turning Point Action, the sister organization to Turning Point USA and he is the Chairman of the Arizona Young Republicans. Austin grew up hunting and fishing, and firearms have been a part of his life since he was born. He believes the second amendment is still the most consequential right we have to fight for every day. 1) You recently held a “Revival” meeting for AZ Young Republicans. To hear the “news” tell it, the words “young” and “Republican” are oxymorons. So, you put together a mixer, but it was a Friday night, and a decidedly Political event...and yet you had quite the turnout! Talk to us about that. 2) You were energizing people at the mixer to “get involved”. What does that mean? Sometimes people like how that sounds, but they don’t really know what to do or how to do it. 3) What is the greatest barrier to people standing up for their values and ideals? Do you think that young people have any specific obstacles to being civically active? 4) In the movie, Frozen 2, which maybe you haven’t seen, but with us having granddaughters we tend to memorize their favorite movies – one of the characters is faced with a dilemma and sings about “doing the next right thing”. Do you think there is a message in there for the rest of us? None of us an do EVERYTHING, so maybe just do one thing, even if it seems small?

How we got to the bizarre place we find ourselves. While some say that “Calling our election results into question is dangerous.”, calling things into question seems like a prudent posture for any citizenry. Questioning authority is exactly what our Founders did and why we even have a United States of America. Shouldn’t we after every election – call the process into question? No exceptions, no excuses. 1) We have been hearing a lot about this word, nullification, but it seems that too many people don’t understand it’s purpose or meaning. - The action by a state not to enforce a federal law as improperly encroaching on the scope of state power. - specifically, the importance of the anti-commandeering doctrine (our primary nullification strategy) and the big movement we’re seeing to end enforcement of federal gun control. 2) A quick glance at our pocket Constitution tells us that the 10th Amendment is the section of the Bill of Rights that basically says that any power that is not given to the federal government is given to the people or the states. But, if we don’t even know the Constitution how can we possibly know which kinds of things fall under it? 3) What would you consider the most pressing issue currently that should be looked at for nullification? 4) The 2A is under assault not only from the Federal level, but also at the State level all over the nation. But, perhaps our biggest battle is the cultural assault on how gun owners are being portrayed. He is a 3-time combat veteran with 19 years of combined military service, currently serving in the TN National Guard.
