What’s good about today? Whether you’re grieving or going through a tough season of life, looking at the positive in each and every day will make the hard moments more bearable.  In this thirty-third episode together, I am joined by Chris Cochran. On September 1, 2021, Chris lost his oldest son, Christian, to a  rare form of cancer called Cholangiocarcino. During Christian’s year-long battle with cancer,  he never complained and would often ask his family and friends, "What's GOOD about today?" This question was Christian’s daily reminder that if we did look for the good in each day, we would find it. Ep 30Helping Abused, Neglected, and Fostered Children Heal Their Grief with Alda St. James

How have the events from your childhood contributed to your grief? For children who have been abused or neglected and find themselves in the foster care system, grief manifests from losing stability and a sense of longing.  In this thirtieth episode together, I am joined by Alda Marian St. James. Alda is a poet, artist, and overall incredible woman. When Alda and her late husband moved to Hawaii, they decided to get involved in foster care. As foster parents, they worked directly with abused and neglected children, quickly learning the painful reality of what happens to these children who are often caught in the system. Despite the challenges that came with fostering, they decided to adopt two boys. Alda has shown kindness and brought happiness to so many foster children that are grieving.  Throughout this episode, Alda and I have a wonderful conversation about her journey to fostering children. Alda gives her first-hand account of how she has seen grief impact foster children and what she recommends for other foster parents to help their children heal from their tough experiences.
