122 – Having Alternate Streams of Income with Jennifer Maruca
This week's episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen discusses having alternate streams of income with Jennifer Maruca. Jennifer Maruca Platinum leader with dōTERRA Essential Oils. Karen and Jennifer share their experience with dōTERRA and how it may be an opportunity for you too. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at [email protected]. About the Episode: The old model is shifting. Instead of going to college, working the same job until they're sixty years old, and retiring, many people are now breaking the mold. They are doing what they love, on their schedule and creating freedom. Sound like something you'd like to do too? Me too. Which is why I explored dōTERRA, not just in my lifestyle, but into my business. As an entrepreneur, I loved the idea of an additional revenue stream. This episode is about that story! dōTERRA Essential Oils Whether you use essential oils or not, no one can deny the fact that more and more people are looking for natural and holistic ways to stay healthy and/take care of themselves, their families and the environment around them. dōTERRA has worked with over 100 different organizations to do research and implement essential oils into their facilities, including universities, hospitals, VA medical centers, hospices and care centers, and more. And, as a leader in the essential oil industry, dōTERRA invests in research and testing to remain at the forefront of essential oil science. "dōTERRA's mission hinges on discovering and developing the world's most potent and effective essential oils," said Dr. David Hill, dōTERRA Founding Executive, Scientific and Healthcare Initiatives. "These studies are a demonstration of our leadership in essential oil scientific advances, as well as our commitment to ensuring safe and powerful outcomes for families and individuals using dōTERRA essential oils." dōTERRA's Medical Advisory Board is composed of board certified physicians from around the world who are leaders in integrative healthcare. Their experience with essential oil usage in their various specialties is a valuable contribution to dōTERRA's mission of educating individuals on the value of essential oils as an alternative method of care and wellness. Why I Chose dōTERRA If I'm going to sell a product, I want it to be a product I love… and I love essential oils. But not all essential oil companies choose to enforce high testing standards for their oils. In fact, many companies skip important steps in the testing process in order to save money or time. Unfortunately, when proper testing measures are not taken, it's impossible to ensure that an essential oil is truly "pure." To ensure that each bottle of essential oil is pure and free from contaminants or synthetic fillers, dōTERRA created the CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® protocol. The CPTG process includes a rigorous examination of every batch of oil, along with third-party testing to guarantee transparency. Join My Team I've created a program for people wanting to build a dōTERRA essential oil business. When you join my team we will teach you proven systems to jump start your success. 120 – It's Who You Know
This week's episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen shares how to grow your network. Virtual networking has never been more important. To grow and cultivate your network, start by taking a look at your first-, second-, and third-degree connections on LinkedIn. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at [email protected]. About the Episode: Have you ever heard the phrase "It's not what you know, it's who you know"? I'm sure you have. And there's a lot of truth to that saying. As we're all navigating this unprecedented time in our lives, virtual networking has become more important than ever. In-person networking still has its value, but while we're under shelter-in-place orders, now is the time to take full advantage of virtual networking opportunities. And that starts by growing and cultivating your connections. LinkedIn's First-, Second-, and Third-Degree Connections As you've most likely noticed, LinkedIn has three different degrees of connections. Ever wondered what the degrees mean? A first-degree connection is someone you're directly connected with on LinkedIn. A second-degree connection is someone you're not connected with, but you have mutual connections. Lastly, third-degree connections are the connections of your second-degree connections. Cultivating Your Connections The first place to start when virtual networking is to look at who you know – your first-degree connections! Find the people you're connected with that you meant to follow up with but never did. Then start a warm, heart-felt conversation with them. Remember, this isn't a sales pitch! Growing Your Network The next step in growing your network is to take a look at your second-degree connections. How do you know these people? Maybe you're part of the same in-person network. Maybe you know them from high school or college. Perhaps you're even both members of the same business group on Facebook. Find the people you can relate with and start connecting with them. Keep in mind, you don't want to connect with just anyone and everyone. Make your connections targeted. I want to see you succeed. As we're all weathering this COVID-19 pandemic together, virtual networking is the tool that will help you grow your business in stressful times. In this episode, Karen interviews Monica Kang and discusses having the courage to be creative. Monica Kang is the founder and CEO of InnovatorsBox where she is transforming today's workforce through the power of creativity. She's also the author of Rethink Creativity: How to Innovate, Inspire, and Thrive at Work. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at [email protected]. About the Episode: The COVID-19 pandemic has changed all of our lives. We're learning a new way of interacting with others, our routines have been interrupted, and some of us have lost our jobs. Now is the time to be creative and reimagine who we are – and that takes courage. Being Creative Takes Courage Creativity takes courage. We as people get used to routines and ways of doing things that it actually limits what we can achieve. Taking the time to reimagine how we do things can be hard and scary. But welcoming creativity into your life can help you achieve more. How to Be Creative How can you be creative? Let's start simple. Think about how you email co-workers and customers. Do you say a lot to get your point across? If so, think of ways you can simplify the communication and use as few emails as possible. The more creative you become in smaller aspects of your life, the easier it will become to be creative in bigger ways. Maybe you want to change your routine, change your perspective, or break from the mold and change how others perceive you. Creativity starts with just one step that can snowball into unlimited potential that you might not have realized you ever had. 118 – The Birthday Technique
This week's episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen shares how to use your birthday as a way to build meaningful relationships. Relationship-based marketing is more valuable than sales-based marketing, and your birthday provides you a valuable opportunity to grow relationships. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at [email protected]. About the Episode: Many people on LinkedIn don't understand why they should add their birthday to their profile. After all, LinkedIn is for business, right? But don't forget, you should be focusing on relationship-based marketing, not sales-based. And birthdays are the perfect opportunities to build relationships. LinkedIn and Your Birthday If you include your birthday on your LinkedIn profile, LinkedIn will notify your connections when it's your birthday. And that's cool! It's nice to receive birthday wishes. But the real value is in the opportunities to build meaningful relationships. The Fortune is in the Follow-Up How do you build meaningful relationships on your birthday? The fortune in the follow-up. Because LinkedIn birthday messages are all private, start a personal conversation with the people who wished you a happy birthday. Don't just say, "Thanks," or send a thumbs up and end the conversation. Have a meaningful conversation like, "Hey, remember when we…" or "I heard you've been doing…" or even "It's been a while since we've met up." As they reply back, don't let the conversation end. Keep genuinely communicating until you're able to get on the phone with them. Be Intentional Keep in mind, however, that you don't want to have these intentional conversations with just anybody. Take your time to look over their profiles. Are they someone you'd want to do business with? Would you be able to mutually help each other? If so, go for it! If not, just be grateful and thank them for their birthday wishes. You don't want to burn yourself out building relationships that won't go anywhere. Keep this in mind, and as your next birthday comes around, try using this birthday technique. You'll be amazed at the business that'll roll in. About the Episode: There's tremendous value in having great public relations (PR) and growing your following. How to Grow Your Platform Growing your platform and following might seem like an overwhelming task. In reality, it's quite simple. You just need to employ the grassroots techniques Amanda teaches. 116 – Polishing Your Virtual Networking Skills
This week's episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen shares 3 ways to polish your virtual networking skills. As COVID-19 has hindered our ability to network in-person, virtual networking is more important now than ever. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at [email protected]. About the Episode: In-person networking is a great way to meet people you'd like to be connected with. But for now, until the COVID-19 pandemic passes, it's important that you polish your virtual networking skills and keep making connections. Here are three ways to get started: Improve Your LinkedIn Profile LinkedIn is THE place to be for virtual networking, and making great connections starts with having a great LinkedIn profile. Take a look. Does your profile make the services you offer clear? Are you taking advantage of the "About" and "Featured" sections? Is your profile picture up to date? Listen to Episode 114 for more details on how to improve your LinkedIn profile. Look at Your Existing LinkedIn Connections When people attend in-person networking events, oftentimes they make many great connections, but they fail to follow up with those connections. Sound familiar? Now is the time to look at your existing LinkedIn connections, rediscover those people you meant to follow up with, and get on the phone with them. Expand Your Network While we can't attend in-person events for now, that doesn't mean you have to stop expanding your network. You still have the power to find new connections who belong to the same groups as you. For example, if you're a member of a Chamber of Commerce, find people within that group who might be a good connection. Then, reach out to them on LinkedIn by letting them know you're part of the same group and that you'd like to connect with them. It's more important now than ever that you polish your virtual networking skills. And as you start to use those skills, you might just be amazed at how many interesting people you'll meet. 113 – Change and Work Ethic with Suzanne Evans
This week's episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen interviews Suzanne Evans and discusses the importance of change and work ethic in business growth. Suzanne Evans, the founder of Driven, Inc., went from secretary to a $7,000,000 business in record time. She's also the author of The Way You Do Anything is the Way You Do Everything. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at [email protected]. About the Episode: The goal of your business should be to grow, and two important catalysts that bring business growth are change and work ethic. The Importance of Change As the world changes, so should your business. When you started out, maybe your client market was different. The economy was probably different. The niche you filled in the market has also most likely shifted. You probably learned what does and doesn't work for your business. Shifting your business to meet demands is important. Without doing this, your business will become outdated. Your business needs to stay current with the times and demands of clients. Work Ethic Growing a business, often, is difficult. Even if you love your business and love what you do, that doesn't mean it's easy. Business growth requires a lot of time and effort. You know what they say… nothing good ever comes easy. Success might not come easy, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun! With a strong work ethic, you will achieve much higher goals at a much faster pace than those who only put in half the effort. There is a lot to learn and figure out in a business journey, but with an openness to change and a willingness to work hard, you will set yourself up to achieve your business goals! 112 – Pivoting Your Business Amid COVID-19
We're experiencing an unprecedented time as the Coronavirus (COVID-19) stops the world in its tracks. It's important that you know how to pivot your business during this season. This week's episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen discusses how you can pivot your business amid the pandemic. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at [email protected]. About the Episode: We're living in an unprecedented time in our modern world as the Coronavirus stops the world in its tracks. During this season of life, it's important you pivot your business, even if it's not forever. What are some of the changes you should make? Glad you asked! Your Responsibility As your visibility grows, your responsibility grows. The more people that work with you, follow your program, listen to your podcast, read your blog, or follow you on social media, the greater responsibility you have to guide them through this time. You might not know it, but a lot of people who work with you or follow you look up to you… you might not even know them! Instead of being flippant about the events around us, model what should be done for the greater good. Wash your hands, stay home as much as possible, and stay safe. Even if you're not in the high-risk category if you catch the COVID-19 virus, there are others who are. You don't want to be responsible for spreading the virus to them. Check Your LinkedIn Profile During this time as more people are working from home, you gain more networking opportunities. Instead of walking around the office during a break, people instead might be networking online. Is your LinkedIn profile an accurate representation of who you are? Does it express to others how you're here to support them? As you shift your focus on how your business can be there for others amid mass quarantine, so should your LinkedIn profile. Remember, your profile doesn't have to stay changed forever. Once the world returns to normal, so can your profile. Focus on Supporting Your Current Tribe Growing your network and client base is important and invaluable, but it's easy to forget about the network and clients you already have. Instead of putting most of your focus on making new connections, find new ways to support your current network connections and clients. Often, they can be our biggest assets. Learning to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic can be difficult, but we'll make it through this unprecedented time together. 111 – The Selling Staircase with Nikki Rausch
This week's episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen interviews Nikki Rausch on how to connect with potential clients in the sales process. Nikki Rausch, CEO of Sales Maven, is a sales guru who has a passion for selling. She has the unique ability to transform the misunderstood process of "selling" into techniques, tools, and tips that can be successfully incorporated into a process replicable by anyone whose livelihood relies on selling a product, a service, or themselves. In this episode, she shares with us about the art of selling. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at [email protected]. About the Episode: Do you struggle with making a sales pitch and closing the sale? While you're not alone, it doesn't have to be this way. In this episode, I had the opportunity to interview Nikki Rausch, CEO of Sales Maven. She shares with us how to use her sales process, The Selling Staircase, to make your selling efforts effective. Your Unique Personality An important part of the sales process is being yourself. When selling, you can't be an emotionless robot employing generalized selling tactics on potential clients. You have to let your true self shine in order to make a connection with the person you're talking with. Otherwise, they'll see through your falsehood and lose interest in what you have to share. Dog Calling vs. Cat Calling A brilliant example Nikki uses when discussing how to make a sales pitch is the difference in how you call a dog versus a cat. When calling a dog, you probably become really excited and start calling the dog in a high-pitched voice. And guess what… the dog comes! This, however, doesn't interest the cat. With the cat, you have to work on intriguing the cat if you want the cat to come to you. Sales is similar. If you share everything about who you are and what you do with a potential client all at once without drawing them into the conversation, the potential client will lose interest. Why? Because the client is like a cat, but you're talking to them like you would talk to a dog. Instead, slip into the conversation something they'll ask questions about. By them asking questions, you've been granted permission to share more about you and your business while making the conversation become a two-way conversation, not just a one-way. A Gift for You Nikki is here to support you in your sales journey. By using her 5-step sales process called The Selling Staircase, you'll learn the right way to close the sale effectively. As a gift, she's offering her book, Closing the Sale, for free to Good Girls Get Rich listeners! Download your free copy here: https://yoursalesmaven.com/gggr Being a sales guru isn't impossible. It just takes using the right tactics that will connect with the right clients. 109 – Taking Care of Your Brain with Veronique Cardon
This week's episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen interviews Veronique Cardon on the importance of taking care of your brain. Veronique Cardon, the creator of the CogniDiet Program, is a holistic nutritionist who teaches others how to rewire their brains, make their brains happy, and help them lose weight naturally. She shares with us how you can take care of your brain for greater productivity. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at [email protected]. About the Episode: A lot of people struggle with stress, not getting enough sleep, weight loss, and so many other things. And when people struggle with these things, it effects their productivity. I had the great joy of interviewing Veronique Cardon and learning what practices will help us take care of our brains and be more productive. We, as entrepreneurs, live hectic lives, so it's important we be as productive as possible. But if our brain isn't taken care of properly, our productivity will decrease. Here's what Veronique says we should do to have a healthy brain. Nutrition Proper nutrition is essential to a healthy brain, and a healthy brain is a happy brain. Without proper nutrition, your brain can't function at peak performance. In fact, of the most important nutrients you can give your brain is magnesium. So instead of pasta for lunch, how about a salad? Exercise We all know exercise keeps our bodies healthy, but did you know it also helps keep your brain healthy? One benefit of exercise for the brain is the release of endorphins. Endorphins not only make you feel good but also help your brain function better. Sleep Another factor in keeping your brain happy and being more productive is getting enough sleep. Sleep isn't a waste of time. It's a free way to relax your mind and recharge your body. Without enough sleep, your brain won't function at peak performance, which means you won't reach maximum efficiency in your work. Trouble sleeping? Exercise during the day. Exercising helps you spend enough energy during the day so you can sleep at night. Also, limit your screen time at night. The light from your phone can reduce melatonin levels, so instead of scrolling through your social feed while lying in bed, read a book or practice meditation. As an entrepreneur, you have a lot of stress, and you need to function at maximum efficiency. The first step in achieving maximum efficiency is taking care of your brain. 108 – Learning to Embrace Yourself
108 – Learning to Embrace Yourself Advancing in your career starts with embracing how good you are. Don't be scared to show the world who you really are. This week's episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media CEO and LinkedIn expert, Karen Yankovich. In this episode, Karen discusses embracing how good you are and the challenges that come with that. #GoodGirlsGetRich We want to hear your thoughts on this episode! Leave us a message on Speakpipe or email us at [email protected]. About the Episode: The doors to the She's LinkedUp program were recently opened where new participants signed up for the course. The course is designed to help people achieve their business goals through the help of LinkedIn marketing. One of the biggest challenges course participants face is embracing how good they are. Embrace How Good You Are Who do you view yourself as? Do you view yourself as an expert or someone who doesn't measure up? No matter how you view yourself, you're an expert in your field, and you have to believe that! If that makes you queasy, you're not alone. But changing your mindset and viewing yourself as the expert you truly are is the catalyst that will help you achieve your business goals. It'll be hard at first, but I believe in you, and I'm here to support you. Don't Be Concerned What Business Peers Think A common excuse I hear from people who are nervous to embrace their true awesomeness is being concerned what others will think about them. But what does it matter? When someone doesn't like you for embracing yourself, they were never going to do business with you in the first place. When you show everyone how good you are, though, everyone else will also see and want to do business with you. It shouldn't be your concern which business peers won't like you. But it should concern you that everyone else isn't getting to see what you really have to offer. Don't Be Concerned What People In Your Personal Life Will Think Sometimes the hardest part in letting yourself shine is worrying what the people in your personal will think. But again, what does it matter? Your family and friends see you for who you are and love you for that. By embracing yourself, you're not changing who you are. You're simply grabbing ahold of your greatness and showing the world what you bring to the table. Embracing yourself makes you get out of your comfort zone, but once you're out of that zone, you'll see a world full of more opportunities. Need help embracing your greatness?
