Ep 86E86: Interview with Award-winning Actor and Body Positivity Coach Kate Huffman
You’re not too fat or too skinny for anything in this world! Stop letting other people dictate what you should do with your body! In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, we listen to Award-winning actress and Body Positivity Coach Kate Huffman debunk the unrealistic standards on beauty and fitness. Kate shares her own experience with anorexia and depression which were caused by fat-shaming when she was young. Today, she wants everyone, especially women, to know that your body appearance does not dictate your self-worth! Learn more about body positivity when you listen in now. KEY TAKEAWAYS Some people think they can determine the state of one’s health based on appearance alone. You can’t. Stop fat-shaming (and fit shaming) other people just because their bodies do not conform to your preference. We must always interact and live our lives with compassion. As parents and/or shapers of young minds, we must be wary of what we tell our children when it comes to physical appearance. Teach body neutrality instead. There is no right body type. When we let other people’s, judgments influence us, we tend to degrade ourselves. Our mental health suffers—we feel shame, anxiety, and loneliness which may lead to depression and/or eating disorders. Just know that there are various body types, and ALL of them have a place in this society. No one should feel excluded. It’s funny how women’s value is anchored to physical appearance. The beauty industry mostly offers products that cater to society norms—for example, products for straightening curly hair, tanning or whitening, and slimming. It’s as if life can only progress if we follow such preposterous rules. BEST MOMENTS “I had to have those all of that experience to be able to take the message to others.” “You get so much accolade in this world when you lose weight.” “I wouldn’t allow anything to be responsible for me and my choices other than me.” “People fat shame publicly, constantly with no apology, no punches fold, and don’t stop for a second and think that it’s bullying that they’re doing.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Join the Facebook Group: Body Positivity for People with Bodies And if you want to offer folks a free guide with some of the tools I use with my clients, you could also include this: katehuffman.com/freegift Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! ABOUT THE GUEST Kate Huffman is an award-winning actor and playwright and a body positivity coach. She helps people reclaim the time, energy, and money wasted on the endless war with their bodies so that they can live freely and confidently in alignment with their purpose. As an actor (Fresh Off the Boat, Castle), her work in film, TV, and theatre has won her an LA Weekly Theatre Award, an Encore Producers Award, a Valley Theatre Award, an Indie Series Award nomination, and several LADCC nominations. Her award-winning one woman show, I’M TOO FAT FOR THIS SHOW, which tells her story of twenty years of secret eating disorders and body dysmorphia, has toured around the country as well as internationally. It was the experience of doing this show and seeing how universal the story was - how many people out there were struggling with similar issues - that sent Kate on her path to body acceptance and body positive coaching. katehuffman.com/workshops Insta: @katehuffwoman ABOUT THE HOST The ‘Mighty Pete Lonton’ from the ‘Mighty 247’ company is your main host of ‘Fire In The Belly’. Ep 85E85: Financial behaviour trumps financial knowledge - Interview with Deon Fowler
Today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Deon Fowler, the Founder of Premier Mobile Billboards, a digital mobile billboard company, and a certified life/business coach for young adults and entrepreneurs. Together they discuss the importance of having good financial behaviours, being okay with sudden career shifts, finding your niche, and ‘walking the talk’. Tune in this episode and get inspired! KEY TAKEAWAYS Sometimes, no matter how keen (or maybe stubborn) we are striving for a certain thing, there are still some external factors that will disturb your pace or even alter your destination. If it will make you feel any better, just know that the universe may be nudging you in a better direction. For example, Deon thought he would be a pro football player for the rest of his life. He was a varsity player in high school and college. He followed every step in the rulebook to be fit, to be disciplined, and be the best player ever. He had to change directions because of an injury. This didn’t stop him from dreaming and still aiming to be the best of the best. He did everything to let it heal and also learn more about the sport. But when he came back, it seems like the puzzle pieces didn’t fit anymore. After everything that happened, he knew the NFL plan was now off the table. He could continue, but his mind eventually focused on increasing his wealth. First, he looked for his niche and started positioning himself as one of the go-to people in that field. Sometimes, it’s okay to just jump into something head-on even without prior knowledge. Continue learning—be a lifelong learner. Deon Fowler started his own moving company. At first he didn’t know how to manage a team- he didn’t know how to keep them motivated and maintain high performance. But he observed and learned. Aside from being a serial entrepreneur, Deon also helps other aspiring business owners (especially young adults) through business coaching. He believes that his experiences, his journey to personal development are great starting points for others to learn. BEST MOMENTS “If you can manage your finances correctly, you can prepare yourself for a better life.” “I naturally gravitate towards money.” “You got to make money working for you… You don’t know when a pandemic, for example, will happen.” “You’ll definitely lose fire and lose hope when you’re competing with other people.” “You’ll never be wealthy when you’re working for someone else.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Check out the Premier Mobile Billboards Official Website: https://premiermobilebillboards.com/ Learn more about Dave Ramsey: https://www.daveramsey.com/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! The first to graduate high school and college in his family, so he understands the importance of being a pioneer and setting the bar. Ep 84E84: Sharon McNulty
Today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, we meet the Founder of Serenity Sparks Joy and the only KonMari consultant in Northern Island, Sharon McNulty. It was a couple years ago when Marie Kondo changed the way we tidy up in our own homes or even in our offices. This Japanese way of decluttering is pretty straightforward—keep things you love and throw away (or give away) things that don’t spark joy. Let’s learn more today about this and how Sharon can change different lives through this method. Other topics discussed too were: organisation vs tidying up, sharing your expertise to other people, the importance of systems and strategies, KonMari’s effect on one’s life, and many more. KEY TAKEAWAYS The first step is always the hardest. When Sharon knocks on your door, expect changes—changes in your wardrobe, changes in your kitchen counter, and believe it or not, changes in your life. Her clients are still in awe of how the KonMari way of decluttering helped them. It might be daunting for some to throw away stuff. Sharon is here to explain everything and show them that there is a more satisfying way of life when we open our minds to the Japanese art of decluttering. Is organisation and tidying the same thing? No, some of us think it’s good to keep a LOT of stuff because they’re kept or ‘organised’ in designated areas. We need to tidy things up! Let’s only keep the things we really need. KonMari is also a way of life. Think about the similarities with some existing paradigms: The abundance mindset. There is enough in this world for you and the other people. Let us only take in the energy (and also the stuff) we need. The law of attraction. Kondo teaches about choosing what sparks joy. In the law of attraction, we are called to manifest only the desired energy (i.e. positive high vibrations) we give and receive. Life is too beautiful to be wasted on things that don’t matter. Surround yourself with positivity. Be cautious and don’t gravitate towards external factors that bring toxicity. BEST MOMENTS “Use the KonMari method; you’d only ever have to tidy up once.” “In order to let go of the items, you got to let go of the emotions.” “You can’t really be fulfilled with things.” “My pride is my business… believing that I can do something and going ahead and actually doing it.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Book a FREE 30-minute consultation with Serenity Sparks Joy: https://www.serenitysparksjoy.co.uk/our-services Learn more about the KonMari Method and Marie Kondo here: https://konmari.com/ Order the book ‘The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing’: https://shop.konmari.com/collections/books/products/the-life-changing-magic-of-tidying-up-1 Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 83E83: Interview with Catriona Briggs Evans
When you think your story matters and can help others, then let your voice be heard! In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Catriona Briggs Evans about her personal journey. Destroy all limiting beliefs, find your voice, and learn about resilience from Catriona when you tune in today! KEY TAKEAWAYS Beware of the victim mentality. Bad things happen. We get hurt emotionally and psychologically sometimes. But it’s also our responsibility to prevent these things happening (as much as we are able) and to also ready ourselves for similar instances in the future. People who always play the victim need to build self-confidence and practice self-awareness. We can’t continue blaming others for our wrong actions. It’s also difficult to move forward in life if we always think that we’re like this because of other peoples’ actions. You can take control of your life. A lot happened to Catriona in her childhood and teenage years—she has been bullied, she has been suicidal, and she experienced victimhood. This made her feel lost for a very long time. Today, these now serve as reminders for her to keep her mental health ‘in check’ and to strive for more in life. Speak up. It’s a life skill that Catriona values so much. It was difficult for her to find her voice, so when she did, she aimed to be intentional. She wants to influence others to do the same and fight for their hearts’ desires. We try so much to impress other people that we forget to listen to our own needs and wants. This shouldn’t be the case. Like-minded people gather and connect easily. If you emanate positive energy, then you’ll attract others that do too. BEST MOMENTS “Your experiences are opportunities to be resilient.” “It’s okay to be not okay, but it’s not okay to stay there.” “I wanna be a good example for my children.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Follow Catriona Briggs Evans on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Catriona-Briggs-Evans-415996915866380/ Connect with Catriona Briggs Evan on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/catriona-briggs-evans-aa8189125/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 82E82: The Trenell Effect: The 7 Principles of Perseverance, Interview with Trenell Walker
In this episode of Fire In The Belly Podcast, Trenell gives us a glimpse of the Trenell Effect. He shares with Mighty Pete about the tragic accident which paralysed him from the neck down and his journey towards being the captivating speaker he is today. He has inspired and empowered so many people by sharing his story and changing their mindset for the better. Some great topics discussed are: mental vs physical capability, Ziglar Legacy, the 7 Principles of Perseverance, best tools and resources in helping you succeed, and more. KEY TAKEAWAYS No one ever wants to see a teenager or any kid’s dreams get crushed. It’s unimaginable how an injury destroyed Trenell’s dream to become a pro football player and also to leave him paralysed from the neck down. He’s forever grateful for his supportive family. His disability requires thorough assistance, and they were and still are right beside him. The Trenell Effect: The 7 Principles of Perseverance is Trenell’s gift to the world—what he wants to be his legacy. Every time he gets a chance to share his story, he sees that everyone leaves inspired and motivated to achieve their own goals too. The ‘Trenell’ Effect stands for Take Action, Resilience, Encourage, Never quit, Evaluate, Learn, L "You can have everything in life you want if you'll just help enough other people get what they want" Start with yourself, always. It’s easier to encourage others to do their best when they see that you feel encouraged too. Despite Trenell having special needs, he’s formidable, especially mentally and emotionally. He’s confident that he can help you to have the right mindset and beliefs so you can control your own life to success. He’s had his bad days too. He admits that his accident also caused depression, and it was quite difficult to understand and get out of it. But once he did, he told himself that he’ll never go back there again. Never quit. Always know that there’s nothing wrong in trying again (and again and again). There is never a big enough challenge you cannot overcome. Be patient, and persevere. If Trenell was able to reach wherever he is right now (despite everyone else telling him he couldn’t), then you could too. BEST MOMENTS “Attitude is contagious.” “If you can look up, you can get up.” “You have to encourage yourself to help others flourish. When you feel encouraged, you can help others feel encouraged.” “Every morning, the worst part about being paralysed is working out that you can’t do anything for yourself.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Learn more about Zig Ziglar and Ziglar Legacy Certification - https://www.ziglar.com/ http://www.walkerbeyondlimits.com/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 81E81: Olive Murphy
If you’re thinking of a change of pace in your career, getting that promotion in your organization, or plainly just asking for a raise, then you’re in the right place. In this episode of Fire In The Belly Podcast, Career Performance Coach Olive Murphy talks about how she has helped individuals move forth in their careers. It all starts with getting into the right mindset, pulling all the negative beliefs and factors away from you, and knowing your support group. Find out more when you tune in today! KEY TAKEAWAYS Olive prides herself on her ability to easily gain trust from her clients. Clients need to be comfortable to get all they can from mentoring. There’s a big difference in ‘listening to understand’ and ‘listening to react’. The former should always be your intention since it becomes easier to arrive at a well-thought decision/conclusion. A huge part of being a coach (or a mentor) is letting your client speak. Since most of us are working from home due to Covid-19, coordinating tasks with your team can be daunting. There are tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Agile, etc.) that can help us stay collaborative and work efficiently. But there is none of that human interaction you’re used to. The management should always be considerate about one’s new working environment, and do the proper adjustments needed. Don’t get sucked into darkness. As much as possible, problems shouldn’t be resting in your ‘mind palace’ for too long. Accept them, evaluate, and learn from them. That’s all there is to them—reminders that you are better and can do better. Age bias is still prevalent in the workplace and even in coaching, particularly for older clients. This shouldn’t be the case. Olive strongly advises coaches like her not to be picky, especially if you have the knowledge and capability to help. BEST MOMENTS “When you dig dip and keep a positive attitude, you can achieve what other people think you can’t achieve.” “The most important thing is you’re enjoying what you’re doing.” “Don’t wallow too long in the negative.” “My passion is making a difference with people.” “Take a chance and try something, always.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Book a consultation with Olive Murphy Consulting: https://olivemurphyconsulting.com/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! ABOUT THE GUEST For over 10 years Olive has successfully recruited all levels in the Pharmaceutical, Property, and Financial sectors and more recently effectively coached a large number of senior public & private sector individuals to reach the highest levels of their organisations. Having the right mindset, strategy and support have been vital for the individuals concerned. Working with an experienced ‘Career Performance Coach’ is a game-changer for you to move beyond negative habits, shift out of old thinking patterns and address the limiting beliefs that continuously get in your way from having the career you want. So, take control of your Career and work with Olive to develop the confidence and ability to articulate your skills and expertise so you can impact and influence your own career path. Ep 80E80: Interview with Richard Stone
Welcome back to the Fire In The Belly Podcast! Our guest Richard Stone, a multiple business owner and a principle contractor, shares today his life story and the importance of human relations in business, and even outside of it. Richard greatly owes his success to his loved ones, his team, and his clients. If he didn’t make an effort to create strong, lasting bonds with them by building trust, then his journey would’ve been very rough. Learn today how Richard and Mighty Pete were able to pave their way to success by acting human. KEY TAKEAWAYS As a business leader, know that there IS no harm in being vulnerable. Richard assures you that respect will still be present. In fact, it is only when people know that they can trust you that they give their full commitment. Notice the similarities and differences in how successful entrepreneurs run their business. They all have the determination and the guts to realise their vision, but their business plans differ from each other. There isn’t one blueprint for success. Cater to your needs and your available resources, as much as possible. Not everyone is your customer. Good contractors just don’t take any clients that approach them. Make sure too that you can provide their needs. If you can’t be of any help to them, then it’s best that you recommend someone else that would be a good fit. The most powerful thing that you shouldn’t forget in your checklist to suceed is maintaining a healthy relationship with your support group, aka your loved ones. It is them who keep you grounded and inspire you. Social media has been equally beneficial and destructive to many people. You need to learn how to use it properly. Be compassionate and understanding, offline, and online. We don’t know what the other person we’re talking to is going through. BEST MOMENTS “I don’t feel like I’m at work because I love what I do.” “When leading teams, you need to be okay being vulnerable.” “Mentoring is not about giving them the answers… it’s all about asking them the questions and giving them some guidance.” “People are increasingly scared to say NO… it’s okay to say NO.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Order Q&A Contract Law by Richard Stone on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Q-Contract-Law-Richard-Stone/dp/1138414611 Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 79E79: Redesign Your Vibe with Ciara McCarron
It’s difficult to rise from the ashes again when we have low self-esteem and low confidence. This may be because of past traumas, anxiety, stress, or other external factors. So, in this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, our guest Ciara McCarron from Redesign Your Vibe discusses the rewiring of one’s subconscious programming so you can achieve more. Ciara is very knowledgeable about the techniques Rapid Transformation Therapy (RTT) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). She used these and helped her clients cope with trauma and/or limiting beliefs. Aside from the abovementioned, Ciara herself had ups and downs in her career and personal life. Join Mighty Pete and Ciara as they talk about more of these when you tune in! KEY TAKEAWAYS When we’re haunted by our past traumas—and even the current traumatic events (i.e. COVID-19)—we often get stressed, leaving our plans derailed. This might just be a short stagnation for the lucky ones, but most often than not, it happens in a prolonged time. Ciara assures that this is completely normal. What you need first is acceptance, and then the willingness to ask for help. It becomes easier when you let someone else help you cope through this difficult time in your life. Not everyone will have heard of it, but rapid transformational therapy, or RTT for short, is one way to combat traumatic stress and its other negative effects. RTT involves hypnotherapy and offers effective and long-term positive outcomes not only to your mental health but also to your life in general. Ciara also shares how her childhood was a dark time for her. It wasn’t just lately that she realised how much she struggled to try to live a normal life back then. She wasn’t aware that her hopeful disposition would slowly be crashed by the negativity (even from her parents) around her. From being broke and broken to becoming a successful entrepreneur. It’s Ciara’s journey that helped her recognise people experiencing traumatic stress may differ on how they deal with it. Ep 78E78: Pursuit of Healing, Interview with Sue Bowles
Today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Sue Bowles, a well-known coach and author, to talk about her support to those in need of inspiration and wisdom about healing. Sue herself was a survivor of severe childhood trauma so her wisdom comes from a stark place. She shares that her faith in God is what brought her the courage to accept what happened to her and to also share her story. This may be a difficult (and maybe triggering) topic for some, but if it will help anyone who went through such trauma, she’ll gladly help. Healing is a continuous process; that’s what we should instil in our minds. Know more about Sue and her passion when you listen in today! KEY TAKEAWAYS Our mindset, values, and principles are what make you who you are. They are big indicators of how you act and push you where you truly want to be. Place your faith in what you think will make you better. Most successful individuals have been very vocal about their spiritual journeys. Some find it in meditation, some find it in religion. Sue, for example, is a devout Christian. This has helped her heal and develop stronger bonds in her relationships. Sue also greatly believes that her faith made her see that she’s more than her fears and the trauma. After battling all of it and is now enjoying her life to the full. Choose your tribe. When you’re with the right group of people, you glow. Because there is nothing in this world, they would want for you but to achieve more in life. Don’t waste your time trying to impress the wrong people. Do it for yourself and then do it for the people you love. Our physical health is a manifestation of what we’re feeling inside. It’s best to keep our emotions and thoughts in check. These are things you just can’t brush off. Remember that you have to be mentally and emotionally well to be truly BEST MOMENTS “Where I was then is nowhere near where I am now, but where I am now is because where I was then.” “I am not here where I am without those people and them letting God work through them.” “You are not to blame; it is not your fault.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about the National Eating Disorders Association: https://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/ Take advantage of Sue Bowles’ 15-minute FREE CONSULTATION here: http://suebowles.com/ Read blog posts and other resources on My Step Ahead: https://mystepahead.com/. Ep 77E77: Interview with Kimberly Milousis, Empowered Living
Today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Kimberly Milousis, Canadian Founder and a Presidential Diamond Leader of doTERRA, about her journey to success, her relentless support to all the women out there, and also some parenting tips. Kimberly is very proud how doTERRA essential oils help her improve her health and her income. She couldn’t believe the amount of time and comfort she can now share with herself and her family. Remember that you can do it too! Listen in to get first dibs on some life-changing tips and strategies now. KEY TAKEAWAYS Learn not to pass quick (and false) judgment. We should take a brief pause and think everything through before opening our mouths. Just know that just like you, they have feelings too. Compassion can go a long way. We, as business leaders, influencers, and professionals must be mindful of what we impart too. Kimberly is very happy that she’s empowering a lot of women. She has had times when she thought of herself as unworthy, and that kept her life aimless. So, now, after realising that she is meant to live and enjoy life so much more, she wants other people to see that they deserve the best too. We are so obsessed with being perfect. Finding the perfect words; devising the perfect plan. Always aiming to be 100% flawless has pros and cons. Be careful not to get too caught up as it might take a toll on your business and even your health. Kimberly suggests just aim to do your best. It’s less stressful and more fulfilling this way. As a mom, it can be a real problem not knowing when to let go of them as they grow up. We want the best for our kids, as always. But maybe loosening (and even removing) the reins will help them be independent and be wiser. There’s a lot that they can learn when they experience on their own. She also homeschooled her youngest while she was supervising over her business. This is to prove too that being a mom can never be a hindrance if you want to achieve success in the business world. BEST MOMENTS “Life is a journey. I don’t feel like I ever arrived.” “I can’t be a people pleaser, because if I were, I wouldn’t be functioning, I would probably be in a straitjacket.” “You can’t really be an entrepreneur and be a perfectionist.” “Learning is something that happens every hour of the day, and not from 9 to 3 or whatever the school hours were.” “There’s no fear in love.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about doTERRA essential oils: https://kimberleymilousis.com/essential-oils/ Check out Life More Abundantly Course by Kimberly Milousis: https://kimberleymilousis.com/lma/ Take the CliftonStrengths Online Talent Assessment: https://www.gallup.com/cliftonstrengths/en/252137/home.aspx Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 76E76: Gavin Preston
What we don’t want is to stagnate in our business. So, today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, we learn how to overcome plateaus and achieve limitless business (and personal) growth! Gavin Preston, a Business Strategist, an Author, and a Business Mentor, graces us with his presence to offer creative strategies and some resources that can be useful in maintaining business growth. He also talks about how he has helped thousands of business owners and professionals alike. One major takeaway from this discussion is the importance of having healthy connections in our lives. Find out what Gavin meant by this when you tune in. KEY TAKEAWAYS It’s ironic since an individual can only experience fulfilment in his business if he makes sure that he has healthy relationships outside of it. A balance between the business and our personal lives is what we should aim for. Imagine having to share every success--and eventually your legacy--not just with your team but also your loved ones. Gavin can ‘read’ people and situations. He can decipher the how’s and why’s of things. That is why he can easily give substantial insights and strategies to anyone. For example, if he’s conversing with a client, he observes their language, facial expression, and body movements. You must connect with people. Gavin won’t stop reminding business leaders about this until the very end as this is the most common yet very underestimated business strategy. If you plan to exit your business early, then learn how to entrust it to the new leaders, the management and the team. From his experience, most of those in senior positions aren’t aware of what is really happening in their departments. You can only do so much inside the four corners of your office as a leader. Know what every single person under your jurisdiction is doing. Talk to them, and listen. BEST MOMENTS “I want to help you get the success and fulfilment from your business the way you’ve dreamt of when you first started it.” “We can all strive for quality life experience.” “There’s always a breakdown before a breakthrough.” “Facilitate a conversation… even if it’s gonna be unpleasant.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Reserve your FREE copy of Survive and Thrive: How to Secure, Scale, and Succeed in Business by Gavin Preston now! | https://www.surviveandthrive.cc/free-book-page104672778701 Recommended books by Gavin Preston: Think and Grow Rich by Napoloeon Hill | https://www.amazon.com/Think-Grow-Rich-Landmark-Bestseller/dp/1585424331 The Success System That Never Fails by W. Ep 75E75: Paul Maskill
If you want to increase your wealth and have passive income streams, then you’re at the right place! Today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Paul Maskill, a well-known small business coach and advocate. Together, they discuss how you can build a business, design a working system that you can utilise, and also leverage so you can have more free time. During these difficult times, it’s very normal to worry about our future. Let Paul and Mighty Pete eradicate that concern away. Prepare and strategise; you’ll find that money-making business idea soon! KEY TAKEAWAYS Paul can’t count how many times did he feel that he was boxed to do only limited things as he progressed in life. There are things that only the society deems proper to do—from your school days to your career journey to even retiring. But remember that you have the power to modify and make it work for you. Being adventurous and eager is hard if you always get influenced by societal norms. Paul was glad that he followed where his heart is leading him to. He’s confident that he’s already prepared for life and has been very impactful to other people. Experience is really your best teacher. Paul was happy growing his first business with his team, but he noticed that it wasn’t working anymore. He was a business owner clocking in 80 hours in just one week. Clearly, there was something wrong there. So, he found ways on how to automate and systematise his operations. He learned from people who knows more than he does. He consumed every business book and every business podcast he can find. This also catapulted his interest in learning about personal development too. He found out that the reason why he’s had a difficult time scaling up his business is he wasn’t delegating tasks effectively. While entrepreneurs are knowledgeable and are capable to do every operational task, they must learn to decipher what are of great importance. Right now, Paul helps his clients build a great business so they can leverage it and lead their dream lifestyle in the future. He adds that being ready psychologically and most importantly financially. BEST MOMENTS “Life is too short to be doing something you hate every day.” “Give them (kids) access to everything and let them figure out… Give them the tools to actually succeed and let them figure out what works best.” “I’m all about enjoying life, but for me, it’s all about experiences.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about Gary Vaynerchuk: https://www.garyvaynerchuk.com/ Two books recommended by Paul Maskall: The Go-Giver, Expanded Edition: A Little Story About a Powerful Business Idea by Bob Burg | https://www.amazon.com/Go-Giver-Expanded-Little-Powerful-Business/dp/1591848288 Built to Sell: Creating a Business That Can Thrive Without You by John Warrillow | https://www.amazon.com/Built-Sell-Creating-Business-Without-ebook/dp/B004IYISQW The 12 Week Year: Get More Done in 12 Weeks than Others Do in 12 Months by Brian P. Ep 74E74: Mighty Pete Talks to Make It Happen Founder Will Polston
In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, we learn about how we can be better individuals for ourselves and others. According to our guest, Will Polston from Make It Happen, we can unlock our full potential and continue growing when we prioritise our role as supporters, aids, and guides to other people. It is more important that we achieve a fulfilled life and do it not because of our success alone. Will’s vision isn’t for just a few, he literally wants to make it happen for everyone--imagine the billions of people living on planet earth knowing how they can, on their own, traverse this lifetime easily and happily. Other topics discussed were: acknowledging your emotions, law of attraction, personal development, NLP, and more. Tune in now to learn more from Will. KEY TAKEAWAYS A fulfilled life is achieved when there is personal growth and a positive impact made to others. We can only be successful when we recognise that this life is not only ours. We must be aware of our loved ones, our colleagues, and the community we are in. Will greatly believes in the law of attraction. If we see ourselves as optimistic, confident, and bound for success, then we attract people with the same aura. This is how successful entrepreneurs built their wide networks. There are ripple effects to human behaviour. If we start within and make the effort of being positive about everything and to everyone, we influence them to do the same. You’re one in a billion, but you can do anything. Who is your key leader? Will emphasises that listing down the people who influence you—the ones who raise you, your mentors, your social circle, etc.—can help you identify your core values too. For Will remembers his uncle being a key influence in his life. From him, Will learned about the importance of hard work. Remember your childhood dreams; they can serve as a big driving force if you feel you aren’t moving in life. No matter how far-off it is from the career path you’ve taken. The unadulterated dream to be the best at something is a good memory to go back to once in a while to get motivated. BEST MOMENTS “I believe the whole schooling system is broken and it has been for so many years. Young adults are rewarded based on achievement, instead of effort.” “I always thought that business is all about money… I never understood before that the purpose of business is to solve a problem.” “The thing that’s very different for me now is I always now ask the question, ‘Why?’” “Set your goals in stone and set your method in the sand.” “Life happens for you and not to you.” “Our highest values are perceived because of our perceived voice.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Visit Make It Happen’s Official Website: https://make-it-happen.co.uk/ Read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. It all starts with your mindset. When you know you’re capable, then you can do anything. Ep 72E72: Your 24-Hour 'Salesman': Interview with Elizabeth Pampalone
Ever wonder why you go back to certain brands to order from them online again and again? Maybe it’s not just because you trust the brand and they have effective marketing, but because they also have a user-friendly and promising site. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Elisabeth Pampalone, International Speaker and Business Adviser, about absolute marketing, how a website works as your 24-hour salesman, branding, and more. Marketing is Elizabeth’s ultimate passion. Listening to today’s discussion will be absolutely worth it, so tune in today! KEY TAKEAWAYS Indeed, COVID-19 has greatly affected every business and every individual. And the worst part is, we still don’t know when it will end unless a vaccine appears. For those who are affected, stay strong, and just know that this is a phase. Stay strong and believe you’ll get past this. Mighty Pete asks: Is a website ever finished? According to Elizabeth, it can be, but you must aim to improve it every time. Your environment changes—the culture, the trends, the people, etc. Always make sure you provide the right (and updated) information and service to your target audience. Elisabeth values her time so much. She knows that she can reach immense wealth and a one-of-a-kind legacy without doing the 9-5. Believe it or not, you can earn a 30-day compensation in just 3 days. Ep 71E71: There's No Mountain You Cannot Climb, Learn Self Belief and Success: Interview with Kyle McDowell
When our guest, Positivity Coach Kyle McDowell, said he’s ready to change everyone’s mindset about themselves for the better, he wasn’t kidding. Once Kyle started tapping into his potential he saw endless possibilities. It has become bearable, if not easier, to face those bumps in life now he has realised his strengths and limitless capabilities. He believes if he can do it, then you can do it too. Enjoy today’s episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast as each and every one of us learns more about some tools and strategies on how we can overcome the challenges and be successful in our chosen fields. As the saying goes, there is no mountain we can’t climb! KEY TAKEAWAYS Find your reason for being so it’s easy for you to identify your fire in the belly. When everything’s aligned within you—your goals, your core values -it’s easier to make big decisions for your future. Just be consistent with your actions, and everything will become easier. Self-awareness does not only entail understanding yourself better. It also means that you’re considering the people around you and how you communicate with them. Look at your environment in order to reflect on your behaviour and emotions each day. Learn inside and ALSO outside the classrooms. Most of the time, it is when we are actually letting ourselves jump into new stuff, without even anyone telling us to do it, that we learn so much. Kyle is himself not studious, but he read a lot outside the school curriculum when he was still a student. He credits his broad knowledge to that habit. There is nothing toxic about being optimistic. It doesn’t mean that you refuse to see the reality of life. It just means that you accept and see what is happening right now, you evaluated and are willing to adapt to the situation. Optimism drives you and get you motivated. BEST MOMENTS “I would rather people see me as Mr. Positivity than the opposite, Mr. Negativity.” “Knowing your core values make you changeless in a changing environment.” “Nobody’s gonna pave your path for you. You create your own path.” “I’ve always had a passion for understanding other people.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Book a Discovery Session with Kyle McDowell: https://calendly.com/kylemcdowell/60min?month=2020-08 Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 70E70: The Power of the Human Mind: Interview with Kevin Young
In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, it’s Kevin Young, the Founder of In Mynd, which helps organisations and individuals lead them to the right path to their successful future. Kevin is very vocal about his passion for learning about human behaviours and more importantly, helping other people. He does everything he can do to make sure that his mentees will be able to take home some wisdom that will forever be useful to them. It isn’t just a ‘career’ for Kevin; it is his life purpose. Join Mighty Pete and Kevin in a very insightful discussion about the power of the human mind, the courage to step up when every challenge arises, collective efforts, and more! KEY TAKEAWAYS Don’t be a people pleaser. Kevin wasted so much time trying his best to be liked by everyone. Learn what you want truly for yourself so you know where you should be putting your focus. It’s time to put yourself first, as you should. Kevin’s first job involved sales and engaging with people. This is where he realised his deep passion for everything about people, relationships, and interactions. Though he saw a spark, the retail sales environment isn’t for him. He had to leave soon after—he wanted to learn more so he could create more value. Kevin sees fulfilment just in the mere fact that he’s touched others’ lives even once. Mindset, beliefs, and values… these core aspects of an individual can be stronger, with the help of a great coach like Kevin. We should all stop the racism, homophobia, and sexism. Because what we are as an individual and as a collective is LIFE. It’s easier when we live with positivity and with the purpose not only to better ourselves but also to better the lives of others. BEST MOMENTS “Fire in the Belly is what ‘calls’ you and what inspires you.” “And then I realised that I love the people… I realised then quickly that though they need strategic help, they also need emotional support.” “I’m close to myself more than I’ve ever been.” “Our experiences can also be born from consciousness.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Book an appointment with In Mynd: with https://www.in-mynd.com/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 69E69: The Hidden Attributes of Gaming: Interview with An Coppens
When people think of video games, they think about violence, competition, and even wasting time. But that shouldn’t be the case. Gaming has a lot of elements that can be used in business, HR, and even education. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Might Pete talks to An Coppens, the Chief Game Changer of Gamification Nation, about how she offers business solutions in the form of gamification design services. It’s easier to ‘level up’ when everyone in the team is aware and motivated to get the same missions accomplished within a reasonable timeframe. Also, we ensure healthy communication and engagement among them. Find out how when you listen in! KEY TAKEAWAYS An was always a diligent and versatile kid—doing every school requirement, acing most of the exams, and training as a student-athlete. Whatever mystery box is put in front of her, she studies, figures out, and masters whatever is inside it. She was always passionate and eager to finish when she starts something. For a long time, gaming has been frowned upon and avoided by people to consider as a career track. Even An’s parents questioned her decision. But An knew she got the talent and could contribute much in the industry, so she pushed for it no matter what. An also has experience in consultancy. This is where she saw a million possibilities of gaming. She advocates gaming as a tool to increase learner engagement. Games are how people will learn and communicate easier. Gamification (the application of gaming elements) can help to encourage engagement between the management, the team, and the customers. When there’s a good sense of teamwork, high performance is guaranteed. Besides, it also gets other people interested in the service you offer. BEST MOMENTS “I tend to get stuck on something and get immersed in it.” “If I can be a great player, then being a coach is another great thing to do.” “Sign off stress.” “Feedback is a strong motivator and creates a big impact (to the business).” “There’s money in games.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read about Gamification Nation (https://www.gamificationnation.com/) Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 68E68: Empowerment: Interview with Annie M. Henderson
“What would you want for your child?” Sometimes, it just needs to be asked so we recalibrate ourselves and be the best model we can be for them. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, we hear Annie Henderson, the Moms Empowerment Coach and host of the Happy Mama Village Podcast, to talk about how she started a community of strong women who support each other. Annie also shares some personal stories—how she aces being a mum, how she came out to her family, how she continues to be impactful to other people, especially women, and more. Tune in now to know more about her, her projects, and some parenting tips! KEY TAKEAWAYS Don’t wait till your child reaches the teenage years to start honing good habits (and correcting the bad ones). Annie emphasises how important the formative years of a child are. During early childhood, the physical, emotional, and social development that is happening is crucial. Your duty as a parent, an educator, or a counsellor is to push the child onto the right path. Annie worked as a school counsellor. And one of her first objectives was to let the kids know who she was and how she can be a reliable person in their lives. When we introduce ourselves and show how supportive we are to our kids, then we build trust and it becomes easy for them to approach you. Fear will hold you back. Fear of rejection will not make you succeed; fear of conflicts will not let you understand and improve yourself. Limiting beliefs will truly stop you from achieving any of your goals. Learn to teach yourself and your children how to be perceptive and courageous so they’ll be ready with whatever life throws at them. It was difficult for Annie to be true to herself before and to come out to her religious family. There are still a number who aren’t as welcoming as we thought to the LGBT+ community. She was also still with the father of her child that time. Does she have to limit herself so she cannot ‘hurt’ other people? It took a lot of courage to finally do it. BEST MOMENTS “If you’re not happy, if you’re not being authentic, then what are your kids gonna learn from you?” “Be impeccable with your word.” “It’s not because people expect things; it’s that we think people expect stuff from us.” “All relationships should start planning ahead.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Learn about The Roadtrip To Happiness: An Online Course for Moms here: https://www.thehappymamavillage.com/ Read The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom (A Toltec Wisdom Book) by Don Miguel Ruiz. Ep 67E67: Women in Business: Interview With Nicolle Overkamp
Today, Mighty Pete interviews Nicholle Overkamp, CEO at Wilcox Financial Group, LLC, and co-author of Money Bitch!, about her commitment to helping professionals and business leaders, especially the women, to secure an unshakeable and wealthy financial future. Nicholle is the go-to expert when you need money coaching. Not only does one master the art of financial planning, but you also get to attain continuous personal development by learning about the right mindset, set of beliefs, and behaviours. Learn more about what successful and wealthy women (and men) do when you tune in to the latest episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast. KEY TAKEAWAYS There are benefits to waking up early and scheduling your day ahead. Nicholle isn’t ashamed that she has been organized and goal-oriented even she was a kid. When everyone was busy trying to be cool, riding on the latest trend, she was on her planner busy ticking off the tasks that she has already done so far. Nothing has changed until now. Nicholle isn’t ashamed that she liked the usual daily grind. If not for learning that hard work goes beyond what you could imagine, Nicholle wouldn’t also know about the more effective way—smart hustling. She now works more efficiently and more conscientiously. But there were times that her busyness would take a toll. Nicholle’s advice is that you take a minute to rest and enjoy life. Even your relationships outside your business need to be nurtured. An individual who values his business as important as his personal development is a more effective business leader. Part of Nicholle’s objective is to help her clients have an unstoppable mindset, trust their core beliefs, and know more about their behaviours. These are very useful if you want to get the most out of financial planning. You’re more focused on your long-term business goals when everything is in the right place. Nicholle has always been active in pushing her women-centred advocacies. Aside from empowering business women, she’s also educating little girls about leadership in her free time. She and her partner also support non-profit organisations too that support women and the minorities. BEST MOMENTS “You can be good at what you do, but it doesn’t mean it’s enough to run a business.” “No one’s gonna work harder than me (for myself).” “We are typically working with women who are very ambitious, goal-oriented, career-focused, and/or a business owner.” “The only way to change the story of women in business is to give back and help other women in business… I wanna be a part of the change and not the problem.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read Money Bitch!: A No-BS guide for smart women who want to own their financial future by Sarah Blankenship and Nicholle Overkamp. Ep 66E66: Kelly Forrester
Your failures are part of your life for a reason. They’re there to make you more powerful and unbreakable. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Kelly Forrester, the Resilience & Growth Leader, about how she helps entrepreneurs achieve their business goals by sharing her truth. Even though you have the toughest skin, the unpleasant stuff will still try to penetrate hard and get you. Kelly says it’s normal. But you have to learn how to be resilient and be prepared more than ever in the future. Tune in now as she discusses some very helpful business lessons and also shares her journey. KEY TAKEAWAYS Always choose the path where you’ll emerge the victor. You don’t need the awards, the money, and all the worldly possessions to know that you’ve won. Learn how to see fulfilment in what you can’t see—the long-lasting life lessons, personal development and the impact on others’ lives. Kelly experienced a fair number of ups and downs when she was running her businesses. Though we know for a fact that the downside exists, it still stings every time, doesn’t it? Kelly wants you to remind yourself now and then about your life goals and to focus on them. Fill your mind with the optimism you need. It’s your duty as the business owner to protect your business and the people inside it. Don’t make decisions that would absolutely go against their stance. Learn the benefits of being risk-averse and being adaptable when a crisis happens. Key Tips Kelly would like everyone starting a business to know: Crisis plan. When you hit a cash flow crisis, get someone to talk to about it. You are not your business. Be logical and realistic. Don’t get too caught up with emotions. If you need help or even to sell, then do it. Lead with love and compassion. Just a reminder since we tend to forget and be robots. BEST MOMENTS “It is all about energy. I feel that we’re connected in one way or another through higher energy.” “It doesn’t take anything to be a dad, but it takes everything to be a proper father.” “Your ‘home’ is where your heart is.” “Don’t go into a partnership with anybody, hoping that EVERYTHING will be okay.” “People will always judge you, but it says more about them than it is about you.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Visit the Over The Edge Official Website and Subscribe to the Entrepreneur Truths Podcast: https://weareovertheedge.com/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 65E65: Interview With Sharon Bannister
In today’s episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete invites Sharon Bannister, a Registered Craniosacral Practitioner, so we can get an expert’s view on Craniosacral Therapy (CST) and a glimpse on her journey. CST can be an effective way for people to heal from trauma or any undesirable conditions in the body. Sharon herself has had her fair share of traumatic experiences and stress-filled phases too. So, she wants to help and share her treatment approach with everyone. You can regain your health and live your life with no holds barred again. Listen in to know more. Other topics discussed were how your ancestry can tell more about who you are, talking to people who are still dealing with their past traumas, Sharon’s interest for other cultures, and many more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Sharon is currently tracing her ancestry. So far, she has found out that she has an interesting ethnic background. She now knows where she got those distinctive physical features and her natural talent for music. Being acquainted with her roots helps her know herself more. When someone’s sharing their traumatic experiences, you must observe, allow them to talk about what happened, and not pass judgment quickly. Be compassionate; listen carefully. Sharon also shared her travels. She’s quite adventurous and very curious about other cultures. She has even lived in other countries and admits that she had an affluent lifestyle doing so. But during one of her trips, she got into an accident which caused her a back injury. This made her go back to London and start a new life again. If it wasn’t for that unfortunate event, she wouldn’t have discovered about mentoring, personal development, and other things that helped her shape who she is now. She wouldn’t have met and helped other people too, she adds. BEST MOMENTS “When I’m traumatised, what happens is I lose my voice.” “I love live and I respect life. I like learning about other cultures.” “I will find out more (about myself) when I learn more about my family.” “When you don’t have good mentoring, then you don’t know what you are creating.” “I want to be the best human being I can be in this planet.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Visit the Connect to Health Official Website: https://www.connectohealth.net/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 64E64: Interview with Adam Cox
Most people believe that they have to live with their phobias and fears for the rest of their lives. But the truth is you can eliminate it fast and don’t have to deal with it forever. Whether it be the fear of spiders, the fear of public speaking, or the fear of trusting people, our guest Adam Cox or aka the Phobia Guru can surely help you! In today’s episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Adam shares to Mighty Pete stories on how he found his passion as well as some strategies to help you find yours too. He didn’t think that he’d be able to position himself as one of the experts in the field. Listen now so you can learn more about eliminating phobias, NLP, the 2 basic mindsets (and what you should be having), the acceptance of failure as part of life, and many more interesting kinds of stuff. KEY TAKEAWAYS When asked by Mighty Pete what fire in the belly means for Adam. He answered: You feel your fire in the belly is at work when all the engines inside your body are firing up to one direction, ignited by motivation, determination, and action. The ‘fake it till you make it’ mantra works. When Adam applied for jobs, he exaggerated everything. He has the knowledge, yes. But normally, those positions would be given to someone with more experience. Since he is confident and always eager to learn, it was easy for him to adjust to any work and environment. Having a growth mindset (instead of a fixed mindset) can make you get the most out of everything. You can solve any problems efficiently, seize any opportunity without hesitation, and come back easily from any failure. Don’t be afraid to set big goals. There is a possibility you’ll fail, no doubt in that. But the possibility too that you’ll learn something from the experience and come out stronger should also be noted. Failures and mistakes are parts of life. Always be confident in any decision you make. Follow your passion and leap. Beware of analysis paralysis. Sometimes, it’s best to just do it. We don’t let doubts and fear cloud our mind when we just start taking action. It’s also proven too that we learn more in practice than in theory. BEST MOMENTS “If I could change how I was thinking, then that could change how I was feeling.” “When the world collides with your dreams, you have to learn how to reconcile it somehow.” “If you’re not happy with something, change it.” “Bet on yourself, you might end up winning.” “Without fear, we would be reckless. We get complacent, and that’s not good.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Here are the books mentioned by Adam Cox in the episode: Principles of Persuasion by Charles Chialdini - https://www.influenceatwork.com/principles-of-persuasion/ Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol Dweck - https://www.amazon.com/Mindset-Psychology-Carol-S-Dweck/dp/0345472322 Money Master the Game: 7 Simple Steps to Financial Freedom by Tony Robbins - https://www.amazon.com/MONEY-Master-Game-Financial-Freedom/dp/1476757860 Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 63E63: Interview with Juanita Duke
Welcome back to the Fire In The Belly Podcast! Today’s episode will surely be a great hit to aspiring entrepreneurs and pet lovers alike. Today, Mighty Pete talks to Juanita Duke, a wealth coach, author, and the founder of Little Paws Dog Training Clubs, about her businesses, passions, and how she has helped her investors transform from Zero to Millionaire. Juanita is very passionate about sharing his knowledge of increasing wealth. And she’s going to be sharing some tips today and some of her stories you can learn from. It’s possible, even for those who have nothing, to get started in their investing or business journey. Start tuning in to get more wealth wisdom! KEY TAKEAWAYS Don’t just do it for the money if you plan to start a business centred on providing services, whether it be for people or the cute furries. Juanita’s genuine love for dogs is her principal capital. It would’ve been tedious to get by and maintain well-ordered day-to-day operations if you aren’t passionate. Juanita joins competitions, but it’s not winning against others that she enjoys. It’s the idea that she’s improving every time, and getting back to the ring bigger and bolder. When we challenge ourselves, we grow, unlock more of our potential, and prove to ourselves we can do anything. One of Juanita’s tips was to look at already established businesses in the same field. Not to copy them but to learn from them—their best practices, some observations that you might want to incorporate, or omit from your business plan. This helped her greatly. Observe, jot down, and assess. It’s important for Juanita that when she retires, she has reached her financial goal and never has to worry about money. But she adds that happiness is more important than long-term goals, she always ensures that she is genuinely happy and can provide for herself and her family at the present. One can’t prepare for the future without spoiling the present. BEST MOMENTS “I can look at a picture of a dog and pick up its energy—if it’s feeling sad or worried.” “I ain’t overcompetitive with other people, but I like challenging myself.” “I don’t remember a time when I didn’t believe in myself, and I don’t think I would ever let anything happen to me that I wouldn’t be able to pick myself up again.” “I wanna be in the position where the money is working for me, and not the other way around where I am working for money” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read Little Paws Dog Training For Children: Basic Obedience Trick Training and Fun Agility by Juanita Duke. Ep 62E62: Grainne McNulty
This is going to be a fun and insightful episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast! Our today’s guest is Grainne McNulty. Grainne is just 21 years old but she is already helping other people live their lives fully by levelling up their mindset, beliefs, and values. This is one of her ultimate passions. She likes learning and sharing everything about personal development. If you want to know where to start—what resources you need to have or which mentors you need to follow (or approach)—then make sure to listen to Might Pete and Grainne’s discussion. Some other topics discussed are: how to deal with negative feedback, how the brain works, why people should stop conforming to society’s standards, and more. KEY TAKEAWAYS The human brain is fascinating. It automatically looks for solutions to any life puzzle—when it functions well. That’s how we are wired; we’re curious and inquisitive by nature. The brain’s reticular active system (RAS) is responsible for one’s motivation and determination to act on something. When we want something, our brain finds a way to acquire it. Grainne is still learning about herself. But at the age of 21, it’s already inspiring where she is in her life. She is on her way to get her law degree, and at the same time, she is teaching other people how to up-level their beliefs and mindsets. Respect others’ opinions and perspectives. It’s nice when we see other people’s view of the world. It helps us get to know ourselves and improve ourselves. There are times when you receive negative feedback from others. Grainne’s advice is to not mind them. If it doesn’t help you in personal development and career growth, then you don’t have to do business with them. What hinders most youth to see their full potential is society’s standards. Instead of letting them explore who they are and who they want to be, they are told to conform and just do what the generation before them did. Teach them that self-expression and igniting that fire in the belly is the way, so it’s easy for them to achieve success. BEST MOMENTS “It’s when they’re ready to make the first step that they will start to take action. You can’t force somebody before they’re ready.” “I believe that you create whatever you want in life. Whatever you want in life, you have to be the decider.” “Our subconscious mind has a creative success mechanism.” “Mindset encompasses so many things, and I’m learning about it every single day.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Follow Grainne McNulty on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/grainnemcnultyy/?hl=en Read about KonMari here: https://konmari.com/ Read about Grainne’s mentors/influencers: Tony Robbins: https://www.tonyrobbins.com/ The Queen of Confidence: https://thequeenofconfidence.com/ Download the Headspace app for Android and iOS: https://www.headspace.com/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 61E61: Minnie (Sinead) O Hanlon
Women have always been subject to society’s high beauty standards but the beauty industry has grown far from the traditional narrative. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Sinead “Minnie” O’Hanlon, the Founder of I AM SOH Cosmetics, about how she helps everyone embrace their creativity and self-expression through cosmetics. Cosmetics can be temporary, but nothing can beat its long-lasting effect on self-image and self-confidence. There’s no such thing as ‘too much colour’ or ‘too vibrant’. Wear what you know will suit you. Hear them discuss Minnie’s passion, femininity, how she manages her business (and at the same time be a full-time mum), some childhood stories, and more when you tune in. KEY TAKEAWAYS Minnie has always had a passion for make-up. She likes sprucing herself up whenever wherever, because who doesn’t want to be their best selves every day, right? For some, there is a magic that comes with cosmetics. We feel confident and form a positive body image of ourselves. It wasn’t easy to enter and compete with already-established stores in the beauty industry. But she likes what she’s doing and more so she gets to inform people how they can get more out of the beauty products. Being hairdressers, barbers, cosmetologists, etc. have been looked down upon as career paths in the past. But, they shouldn’t be. People are realising that these people play an important role in maintaining their well-groomed appearance—that is great capital in achieving success. Minnie is a go-getter. Though her cosmetic brand, I AM SOH is fairly new, she is already thinking of different ways on how to offer more. Alongside her are her great team and family who have been very supportive. BEST MOMENTS “If you want it, work for it.” “Everyone is unique in their own way.” “You only know what you know.” “It was always a big dream to have my own cosmetic brand.” “It’s important to have a safe network around you.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about I AM SOH. Ep 60E60: Anna Cantwell
It’s time to be confident and authentic so we can live our lives to the fullest! In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, we talk about the trinity within you—your body, mind, and soul. Our guest, Anna Cantwell is a Soul Coach and Meditation expert who has helped women get to know themselves, be bolder, and traverse their path to self-fulfilment. She has had her dark moments before, and as a survivor, she wants to share her experience and the wisdom with people. Some topics discussed today are the power of abundance mindset, accepting our spiritual side, the benefits of a great mental health state to our physical health, the consciousness of each individual, and more. Join Mighty Pete and Anna today! KEY TAKEAWAYS I came into the world with my third eye open – As a ‘soul coach’, Anna is similar to a life coach and helps individuals link their own mind, body, and spirit. She focuses on the connection and intersection between those three entities. They won’t ever be separated from each other. Poor mental health can greatly deteriorate the state of your physical health, and vice versa. Keep them both—not just one—in check every time. It’s good that you listen to what your body is telling you. If you don’t have the appetite or you feel your stomach hurting, then most likely, there is something bothering you. But better yet, make sure to meet with a counsellor. Ever had the ‘gut feeling’? There are a lot of neurotransmitters located near your stomach. According to Anna, any stomach issue might be related to your mental or brain health. Beware of the scarcity mindset; practice the abundance mindset. It’s not true there is only one pot of gold. There are immense resources and immense rewards you can get. You have to believe that you can fulfil your needs and wants on your own terms. Focus on what you can do and what you have. When you show up every day with your authentic self, you attract the right people—the ones who resonate with you and can support you throughout. We can never survive life with fake lifestyle and fake people. Let’s avoid having to live a life full of regrets. BEST MOMENTS “I see ‘fire in the belly’ as the desire and the will to really live, and to live life fully.” “There are several daily practices that we can do to make sure that we’re headed in a path that we actually want.” “Our paths are so unique that age means really nothing.” “I choose to invest money, time, resources, etc. in myself… I am the greatest investment I could make.” “It’s not my business to tell someone what they need to believe or how they need to operate.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Mind Tribes or MT Online School of Yoga: https://mind-tribes.com/ Read The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom (A Toltec Wisdom Book) by Don Miguel Ruiz. Ep 59E59: Health and Wellness, Interview with Austin O Keeffe
Your main income stream can come from your passion projects. For our guest today, he was able to start a business and advocate for health and wellness. Today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, we talk to Austin O Keeffe. Some topics that were discussed in this episode were his love for music, his childhood, his experience in sales and marketing, the importance of maintaining good health, religion, magic, and many more. Tune in as your host Mighty Pete and Austin open your eyes to things that can help you know more about yourself and things that can help you find your fire in the belly. KEY TAKEAWAYS Austin’s mother was a psychiatric nurse. He recalls that when he was young, his mother had to take in mental hospital patients in their home. He observed, learned how to be hospitable, and also the circumstance opened up his eyes to the importance of mental health, aside from our physical health and wellness. Music is a big part of his life. At 11, he already was learning to play the accordion. At 13, he was witnessing (and slowly getting inspired) by the buskers of Dublin. Then after that, his interest in music continued. Austin is now a songwriter, composer, DJ, and a keyboard player, aside from managing his own business. Set up Plan B’s. Though he plans thoroughly and efficiently, it’s important to create a backup. It’s not that you’re preparing to fail; it’s about ensuring the success of your project. Just like in magic or music performance, according to Austin, it should always be a happy experience for the client. That’s one you want to evoke. He wanted to be rich—there’s no shame in admitting that. He decided to join DXN because they have an intact business plan and promising sales strategies. Aside from this, he also believes in the products. He professes that his performance and outlook in life have improved because of the products, especially the coffee. BEST MOMENTS “I liked the idea of attracting people in through performance.” “I want to be independent, and not be relying on anybody for money.” “I’ve always had aninterest in how things are done…I want to know how things work.” “As a musician, you’re there to evoke a reaction.” “I like seeing the improvement in their life and wellbeing.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about DXN Europe and their products: https://www.dxn2u.eu/ Subscribe to Austin O Keeffe’s YouTube Channell focused on health and wellness: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCouSqtXAuDrlfbtGR86xXZg?view_as=subscriber Read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Ep 58E58: Peter Duke
Have you ever tried something without even knowing about it or planning for it? In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Peter Duke about the huge benefits of being a YES Man! No, it doesn’t make you a pushover or easy. It just means you’re always ready for any challenge and unafraid to go through any obstacle. Because what do we get from new experiences? If we don’t win, we learn—and still win! Peter also shares some personal stories and lessons from his career journey. Find out more about his passion for sales, how he treats his clients, some theatre anecdotes, and more when you tune in. KEY TAKEAWAYS Peter has long been experienced in sales. He enjoys the adrenaline rush every time he lands on a big sales deal. He is enjoys that he’s able to maintain long-term connections with his clients. Of course, sales is not always rainbows and unicorns. Sometimes, no matter how much effort you exert, they’d still go for the competition. But regardless, one must continue to show up and be the best. You’ll never know. You might get referrals. Respect and compassion go a long way. Peter is very grateful for having parents that showed him how to be ‘human’—how to coexist with other people and always be understanding of them. This helped him grow his network and maintain healthy relationships too. Customers are always right. This means, that there is nothing that will go wrong if we suitably give them what they need and want. Do the job right. When the customer’s happy, your business will be booming. Say Yes. Peter has tried working in the theatre industry, which he has no expertise, as he admits. It was surprising indeed how an opportunity like that appeared in front of him, so why would Peter say no? Peter learned new skills and was also able to meet new people along the way. The great thing too is that Peter didn’t regret wandering into that unknown territory. BEST MOMENTS “Technology makes learning easier and more enjoyable.” “Treating people with respect can take you to so many places.” “The customers are my people, and I’m concerned that the job’s done right for them.” “I was always willing to learn and I do take it (work) professionally.” “If a door opens, I’ll say yes!” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 57E57: Boardroom Talk - Pat Slattery - The Outstanding Series No2
Today, we continue The Outstanding Series Special with our guest Pat Slattery. We still focus, on this follow-up episode, how one has the power in making a choice for themselves and for the greater good. Being responsible for your behaviour and choosing to be selfless makes an enormous difference. Aside from improving yourself, you also step up in the eyes of the people you value and the competition. Remember that everything starts within you—know your core values and beliefs. Other topics discussed were how respect can go a long way in maintaining healthy connections, how can you share your ‘gift’ with others, and how to deal with criticisms. Start listening in. If you’ve missed the first part where Mighty Pete and Pat focus on the importance of logic, healthy relationships, storytelling, and many more, then please check the link below. KEY TAKEAWAYS Compete with nobody, but yourself. Be better than today’s YOU. There is still room for improvement; there are still things you can learn and add to your skill set. Don’t stop achieving, or even going near, perfection. Everyone has a gift. And, the key is to use your gift with passion so you can be more impactful for other people. Everyone was born in this world to make a difference. Never let anyone tell you you’re unimportant. Respect is very important to Pat. He sees to it that he respects every person and their opinions. Therefore, he also appreciates people who share the same values. But you should be wary about people who have ill intentions. Even though you treat them well, they only have one thing in mind, it’s making you feel bad about yourself and what you’re doing for others. Keep a distance from them. Spiritual, political or values differences should not be used to discriminate against other people. Respect their beliefs. As long as they’re doing a wonderful thing and does not bring any harm to others, then don’t shove your own beliefs unto them. If you think they need to be told about some things, then relay your feedback respectfully. BEST MOMENTS “Being outstanding doesn’t mean that you’re proving things to anybody else. This is just an acceptance that you accept you’re outstanding.” “You can create a gift with your passion; you can create a passion with your gift.” “People need to be aware of what they can become, and other people allowed them to become it.” “Always think that you would rather be wrong, and leave them out, than be wrong and let them in.” “If something gets in the way, you find a way around it or you go through it. But it won’t stop you.” “People believe in you because they show up.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Episode 40: Boardroom Talk – Pat Slattery – The Outstanding Series No. 1 on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/e40-boardroom-talk-pat-slattery-the-outstanding-series-no1/id1499375061?i=1000476591108 Read The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Ep 56E56: Johann Callaghan
Parents have the toughest job. No question. So, in this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, we hear from the Sleep Expert Johann Callaghan, talk about the importance of family health. Johann shares with Mighty Pete how difficult it was to experience and get through teenage pregnancy, single parenting, and even miscarriage—all these in a single lifetime. So, one of her passions right now is to empower parents like her so they can be better individuals and be great role models for their kids. She also discusses how to get a good night’s sleep, how to improve family dynamics, why empower yourself, how to maintain great health & wellness, what is the ‘Be, Do, & Have’ concept and many more. Time to listen now! KEY TAKEAWAYS It’s all about perspective. If in failures you see lessons, then you’ll improve. And if you see that you need to coexist rather than to compete with one another, then you understand the surrounding people. If you always see the positive in all things, then it’s easy to live the life you want. Johann became a mother at a young age. She still can remember how scared she was that time, even to the point to approach her parents for help about it. How can a kid raise a kid? She also talks about how the first weeks (and months, and years) of raising a kid was—though fulfilling—very exhausting. Mums can provide the best things in this world for their children. But they can also forget to take care of themselves. She was losing sleep and was not eating healthily. And when she experienced miscarriage which brought her to an unfathomable turmoil, it got worse. She’s very grateful to the people around her, that despite the cold treatment didn’t stop supporting her. She gained back her self-confidence and trust in them over time. Johann is very passionate about empowering people. You don’t need many resources—no need to book that pricey mentoring session or buy expensive aromatherapy. You have to know that you alone can change for the best and influence other people. Everything starts within you. Get comfortable with what your mind and heart are telling you. Take care of yourself. Johann also believes that we can be our own doctors too. Listen to your body. If you eat processed foods a lot and stay seated on your couch, then most likely, you’ll feel weak. Always aim to be better. If you’re a parent, you need to set a good example for your young ones too. BEST MOMENTS “It’s not a failure, it’s just something that didn’t work out.” “You don’t know how powerful we all are as individuals, as human beings…It’s all in our being, it’s not what we do to fix something.” “Your children are like sponges. They learn from seeing what you’re doing and how you’re behaving.” “Nobody’s going to hurt me.” “I tend to know what’s going on, that’s part of being sensitive. Ep 55E55: Andrew Dobbin
No successful entrepreneur in the world ever achieved what they did and reached wherever they are without any help… People need people. Often, they have loved ones for the social & emotional support, a team to man operations, investors to finance their capital, and of course, clients and customers that they need to serve. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Andrew Dobbin of the Business Mind Set about networking strategies. Learn how you can get the most out of once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, so you can land your biggest investor or find your partner-in-crime. Andrew helps a lot of business owners grow their network, aside from giving them advice in marketing and other operations. So, get inspired when you listen in right now. Some other topics discussed were: The Business Mindset, creating value for other people, mentoring, the importance of first impressions, where to get referrals, and many more! KEY TAKEAWAYS Purpose – This is the first key thing that you need to figure out when you’re about to start networking. Why do it in the first place? Most attend networking events with an open mind and zero to low expectations of what they’ll get from it. This works. But learn how to utilise every event, every platform you join by curating a virtual checklist of goals. It doesn’t matter if they are small or big. Who do you want to speak to? Are you looking for investors or clients first? We stop wasting time (plus other resources) and grab opportunities when they are presented when we know what we want to achieve. Do your research beforehand. Give and receive. It’s more fulfilling to participate when you also have something valuable to offer. We aren’t parasites. Colleagues will immediately shun away from such people. Don’t be someone who you hate, as they say. Ready your elevator pitch. Print out the business cards you’ll hand out. Write down notes (i.e. contacts) from time to time when needed. You have to seize this opportunity! Andrew’s note: People still use business cards, so bring a few every time. Also, you can put your photo on it, so they could easily remember to ring you up. How do we increase the trust between the prospects we meet? Show off your credibility, your experience, your stories, etc. And be presentable. Dress nicely—like you’re meeting one of your best clients every single time. It’s all about making a great first impression. BEST MOMENTS “If I give you business, then you shall be able to give me business.” “Where are your customers’ networking… where are they going to be?” “When you look good, you feel good.” “Business cards help people connect and remember.” “Branding is all about leaving an imprint in someone’s mind.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about the Business Mind Set by Andrew Dobbin here: https://thebusinessmindset.co.uk/ Sign up to our Mastermind Monday E-Mail http://eepurl.com/gc7Ulv Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 54E54: Ronia Fraser
You’re worthy. Always remember that. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Ronia Fraser joins us to share how she supports women in their healing journey after getting out of abusive relationships. It’s truly unimaginable how people are capable of hurting others, both physically and emotionally. After detaching from abusive relationships, it can be extremely difficult to live and to ‘be free’ without being haunted. Let Coach Roni help you find yourself again. Today, she discusses narcissism, narcissistic abuse, finding ways to remove the feeling of unworthiness and more. KEY TAKEAWAYS It’s not just physical abuse. Someone can inflict invisible emotional wounds to another person. We aren’t always aware that it’s happening to us. The next thing we know, we are already adapting to this new environment (with the narcissist) and already acquiring new behaviours. Ronia’s expertise with narcissistic abuse recovery was something that came from her own experience. Her partners before didn’t value her and their relationship. Imagine feeling worthless just because you can’t give what your partner is asking. That’s what Ronia felt. It was difficult for Ronia to get out of the situation. And the healing phase after every breakup is even harder when there has been abuse. So, as much as possible, she wants every woman to know that there’s help available when they need it. Be wary of ‘unhealthy programming’ within yourself. Some of us experienced trauma (which can be unrelated to our relationship) that greatly affected how we view ourselves. We feel unworthy of great things; we feel we don’t deserve to be loved. But that shouldn’t be it. Be more compassionate with yourself. It’s not you who should be suffering for others’ bad behaviours. When we experience trauma, some aspects of our life change—our view on things, our behaviour, and even our self-identity. It becomes difficult to distinguish what’s right and what’s not right for us. We hide and refuse to speak up. Ronia wants you to know that there are people like her who fully understand, and you can reach out to them whenever you’re ready. BEST MOMENTS “Language is very powerful.” “If you want to have substantial relationships, obviously there needs to be more than partying.” “When you stop fighting against what’s inside of you, you surrender, and accept whatever’s going to be.” “There are scary things buried in all of us and it’s scary to dig them out.” “If I stop working on myself right now—with my Buddhist practice, my self-care practice—I wouldn’t be sitting here the way I am.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Start your healing process with Ronia. Ep 53E53: Flora Russo
Being in a foreign country didn’t stop our guest, Flora Russo, from chasing her passions. Today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Flora shares with Pete stories on her move to UK (from Italy) and her interesting property journey. Some wouldn’t even imagine starting a business in a place they don’t know. But Flora is strong-willed and quick-witted. When she had the inkling she would flourish in property investment in London, she learned as much as she could. She mastered the buy-to-let property strategy and then expanded her property portfolio in just two years. Do you have the guts to the same? Learn more about Flora and property sourcing when you tune in today. KEY TAKEAWAYS When Flora’s passionate about something, she moves quickly—she doesn’t need convincing from others. When it comes to earning, she grinds hard. Her only problem, though not that big, was that traditional schooling didn’t really work for her. If she doesn’t see that she’s getting the value (as she should), she loses interest. So, she learned on her own by getting herself out there. Where is your place? Flora is an Italian entrepreneur who’s staying in London. Though her loved ones and friends are back in her hometown, she doesn’t see continuing her life and career there anymore. She explored, tried to learn different cultures, and found somewhere she can be herself. Wherever she’s happy, it’s where she stays. Working for yourself, having a business of your own, sounds very inviting. But let’s not kid ourselves, it’s not that easy. With hope and positivity should come action. Have a thorough plan beforehand. Flora also focuses on single-let for families. It’s key to research the area beforehand. Flora had to talk to the neighbourhood, observe as well as keep up to date on the latest property news. Flora is now an expert in buy-to-let’s and is very excited to explore other strategies. She wants to expand her portfolio into something big so that someday, as she says, she doesn’t have to worry about getting out of bed to work. BEST MOMENTS “I learned so much after what happened… about what I really want to be and what I don’t want to be.” “We should teach more about business at school and how to manage your money because that’s probably most the important thing to know in life.” “Does money really make you happy? Of course, it does… but it’s not everything.” “I’m going to do everything I want in life.” “I leverage as much as possible because I believe I have to focus my time and energy in finding new investors.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about Empire Residential Consulting Ltd here: https://www.facebook.com/EmpireResidentialConsultingLtd/ Contact Flora Russo through her LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/flora-russo-property-investor-north-east-uk-25811b14/ Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! If they’re stuck at home, then you find ways on how to get it to them. Ep 51E51: Preston Weekes
In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Preston Weekes, the CEO of Operations X. Preston and his team provide strategies for businesses to help them overcome challenges. Today, he lets us in on his personal story—from his background in car deals, to him owning his own company, to coaching people and so much more. Preston is an advocate of relentless improvement. He has experienced downtimes too. And as someone who also had a hard time lifting himself up, he gives some tips on how you can stay focused on achieving more. Tune in now to learn from Preston. KEY TAKEAWAYS Traditional schooling might not be the perfect setup for those who have ADHD and/or learning disorders. Though Preston is an eager and a quick learner, the strict schedules and deadlines don’t work for him. Aim for relentless improvement. If you’re not progressing, you’re digressing. There should always be upgrades, no matter how big or little. Preston consumes as many books as possible, and try to learn the innovations that emerge from time to time. Sales is life. You do it every time, you aren’t just aware of it. We go out everyday try to impress the world for more greatness or just maintain the healthy relationships we have. We like being loved and appreciated, so we go the extra mile to better ourselves. It becomes easier to uplift the people around you when you are being authentic. You’re making it hard for yourself, for the people around you to trust you, if you can’t even walk the talk. Know your values and visions to effectively make the positive change. Don’t skip the most important step. His clients trust him so much because he knows and can deliver. From CEOs to teams to individuals. He doesn’t fail anyone. His advice: always get it done. Learn to value integrity more. Any traumas and/or past mistakes that happened in the past are just that—don’t let them affect your present and your future. What you take from them are lessons, not resentments and regrets. It’s difficult but you have to take a step forward every time. BEST MOMENTS “I’m constantly learning; I’m constantly improving.” “I’m a believer that sales is life!” “I’ve changed all these people’s lives, because I provide them an opportunity to do something—an opportunity to make money, an opportunity to be a part of a vision.” “Everyone has a story.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about Operations X here: https://www.operationsx.com/ Read You Don’t Have to Be Ruthless to Win: The Art of Badass Selfless Service by Jonathan Keyser. Ep 50E50: Who is Mighty Pete? Interview with Pat Slattery
To be alive, you have to find your fire in the belly. –Pete Lonton Welcome back. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, we turn the tables! It’s Pete who answers all the questions. Our guest host for today is the renowned international speaker and entrepreneur Pat Slattery. He gets to ask the quick-fire questions that Pete usually throws to his guests, as well as the more interesting and controversial ones. Start listening in as Pete goes back and retells his life from decades ago, way back before he built his brand and started achieving his passion-driven goals. Other topics discussed are the importance of integrity, communication, and intuition. Be inspired now! KEY TAKEAWAYS The taller person sees everything first. This can also be true in a figurative sense. Pete is proud that he has always been in touch with his intuition therefore increasing his self-awareness and chiselling his self-identity. No one is more at advantage than someone who walks and speaks taller. Fire In The Belly was a concept that was created in February of last year. Upon realising that he had done a lot in his lifetime he wanted to share his story and help other people too. He wanted people to know that if he could do it, then they could do it too. Why does Pete always ask his guests if they love themselves? According to Pete, the very origin or the very spark of your passion comes from self-love. It’s hard to put your full effort into something when you don’t love yourself. It also affects how people treat you. How can people around you trust and respect you if you don’t do it yourself? They need to see that glow from within to open up themselves too. Integrity is something that Pete holds dear to his heart. He treats it as one of the significant foundational values of his. It has helped him achieve his goals. And he wants to teach his kids (and mentees) about its importance, so they can thrive too. Mighty Pete’s superpower is having meaningful conversations. He’s very confident about how he communicates. Not only does he have the ability to know the language of the other party and ask the right questions, but he can also feel and read them. BEST MOMENTS “I was always cautious and conscious in life.” “You never know what happens behind closed doors.” “Everyone has their fire in the belly, whether it be a successful person or a person that’s in a really dark place.” “Be happy with yourself; be happy with who you are. That’s all that matters.” “The more you give, the more you have too.” “Success is finding your passion, pulling through, and just pushing everyday of the week to make that happen.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read about Tony Robbins, one of Pete’s greatest teachers/mentors, here: https://www.tonyrobbins.com/ Follow Pat Slattery and know more about his 14 Points of Culture here: https://patslattery.com/ Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 49E49: Aron O'Dowd
In this episode, Pete talks to the host of The Aron O’Dowd Show, Aron! Aside from putting success stories of different people in the spotlight, Aron is also very passionate with rowing. It’s a fun and competitive sport which he loves. He talks about this in the episode as well as his love for Pokemon (and everything about video games), food, travelling and more! Aron is a living proof that your fire in the belly can help you in attaining more wealth, upping personal development, and fulfilling life’s purpose. Tune in now to learn and get inspired! KEY TAKEAWAYS Aron lived in Taiwan for quite some time. There, he learned about a new culture and grew new connections. It is also where some of his passions sprouted. Aron has a huge appreciation for e-sports and video games, it’s how he bonded with his colleagues. Video games also got him interested to the world of sports. He likes the adrenaline rush that every extreme sport offers. Aron’s most passionate about rowing, in particular. He put so much time into it, learned everything all about it, and increasingly got better at it. One key piece of advice he gives for assertive go-getters like him is to take a break. Sometimes, we might feel that we don’t need it, but our body and mind need the rest to detox and re-energise. Burnout is real. We have to avoid it as much as possible so we can stay efficient in achieving our dreams. Don’t stay in one place; keep moving! You’re lucky if you have the right people around you who can motivate you to keep pushing forward no matter how uncomfortable it is. This might surprise people, but aside from fitness, he is also very interested in food and everything about it. He likes cooking, studying about it, and of course, eating it. He likes the chemistry that happens and the culture that goes with every dish. BEST MOMENTS “Travel teaches you a lot more about people and cultures than textbooks do.” “I’m more of an eater than a chef.” “I’m a very curious and passionate guy, and that’s who I am.” “The choice is in the individual how quick they want to see progress.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to The Aron O’Dowd Show here: https://aronodowd.com/ Aron O’Dowd’s Twitter: https://twitter.com/Aronodowd1 The Aron O’Dowd Show on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOyFqKQc4MCbXt1QnuSfT3g Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 48E48: Oskar Lipinski
There is no age limit when it comes to becoming an entrepreneur. Today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete talks to Oskar Lapinski, the owner of the Irish clothing brand Club De Luxe. Oskar, in his early 20s, built his brand in 2018. And, in just two years in, Oskar and his team are already shipping their products all over the world. Not only do they sell comfortability and quality, but they also encourage people to dream big, to don’t think about limits the society imposes. Learn more about his brand, his entrepreneurial journey, the importance of mindset, the learning styles, and more when you tune in. KEY TAKEAWAYS There’s a right style of learning for you. Know it early on so you get the best out of any classes or mentorship you get into. There are seven learning styles: aural, visual, kinaesthetic, auditory, verbal, logical, social, or solitary. You need a goal. What’s the reason you wake up every morning? Find what motivates you to move. Live a purpose-driven life, as they say. For Oskar, achieving something every single day, even how small it is, is what makes him truly happy. Believe in yourself. You won’t achieve anything even with the help of others if you doubt your capabilities. Who cares if you are just a beginner? Every single successful professional/entrepreneur had to start somewhere. Be confident in what you can offer and always stay motivated. Age doesn’t matter—in relationships, in business, in sports, and in any new opportunities you want to explore. If we box ourselves, limit ourselves, to what we can, then we’ll end up regretting stuff. You can achieve anything as young or as old as you want. BEST MOMENTS “Mindset is the most powerful thing we have.” “Whatever energy I put in is whatever energy I put out.” “I bounced back higher than before.” “The goal of a purpose is to grow.” “Take the leap of faith… try the recommended book or video.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Follow Club De Luxe on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/clubdeluxe.ie/ Listen to Don’t Think Limits Podcast hosted by Oskar Lipinsky on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0j4Y2wTMFdzTWV0MwD8JTN?si=dMIAXNnxSmmViynOFY32Iw Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 46E46: Ashley Teer
It’s only when we lose everything that we realise how much we’ve taken things for granted. In today’s episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete talks to Ashley Teer on everything about spirituality. She also shares some personal stories that led her to tap into her inner psychic. Ashley recognises the power of having sovereignty over your body and mind (as it has helped her too) so she wants to help other people harness theirs. Aside from self-sovereignty, another key takeaway from the discussion is the importance of having balance. Most of us ‘automatically’ operate on logic because that’s what we were told to do by society. Ashley encourages you to touch on your emotional side more as that’s where fulfilment and healing come from. You can tune in now for more discussions on meditation, hypnotherapy and more! KEY TAKEAWAYS Ashley’s life has been so bumpy for so long that she didn’t even dream she’d have a bright future. She thought of herself as unworthy of the things she received. It was tough. But everything took a 180 degree turn when she discovered the ways of healing. There’s more to life than chasing the most-sought fortune, wealth, and whatnots. We need to get acquainted with our emotional side too if we want balance. Success doesn’t have one strict recipe to be followed, and more importantly, it is unique for every person. Know what can fulfil you and satisfy you, that’s the secret. Intuition is the quintessential gut feeling. Listen to it. Feel where your body is moving, what makes your heart flutter, and what your mind is telling you. Don’t let others dictate what you will do because it will just turn into regrets. Aim for clarity of the headspace. Ashley suggests you get into meditation, any mindfulness activities, and even physical exercise. You are the captain of your ship—your body. Practice self-sovereignty. Be conscious and responsible for how you treat yourselves. Tap into your inner self. Though she appreciates that people go to her for readings, for guidance, she highly suggests that you detach from external help slowly when it comes to understanding yourself. You have your own power. Believe that. BEST MOMENTS “Nobody’s gonna tell me any different.” “An empath is someone who can connect easily with people’s emotions.” “Nobody’s future is set in stone.” “We’re all from different backgrounds. Some are naturally gifted; some people have to work hard to get it.” “If you put your work in, you’ll get the results.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to The Sovereign Spirit on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQyZNi3dDEItDkp3EVTSY Follow Ashley Teer Hypnotherapy on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ADT.Hypnotherapy/ Follow Ashley Teer Psychic Medium on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/A shleyTeerPsychicMedium/ Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 45E45: Ruth Young
It takes a lot understanding and communication skills for educators, trainers, and parents to establish a connection with teens and young adults. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Ruth Young, External Consultant at Young Enterprise Northern Island and Managing Director at Ruthless Media, talks about her relentless help for the youth of Northern Island. For others, they term it as ‘difficult behaviour’, for Ruth, it was just plain difference of personalities. If we learn to listen to their emotions and their needs, the amount of value we can impart to them will be unlimited. Ruth has been forever passionate in helping people. Ruth also shares how she started her own company, The Ruthless Media, and her own brand Wee Jowee. Listen in as she shares her successes and learnings in both life and business. KEY TAKEAWAYS Ruth’s family is very important to her. She’s very grateful to have parents who provided for her and also shaped her beliefs and values as early as possible. They were a big influence in igniting her fire in the belly, which is helping other people. She was always active in the church. She spent the first part of her career helping young people. Understanding and communicating with the youth without being authoritative is a gift. It was always easy for Ruth to empathise and connect with them. She also worked for The Bytes Project in providing training for the youth. And now, she serves as the External Consultant of Young Enterprise Northern Island. But Ruth had to move Church due to the attitudes her previous church had on those who remarry. This brought a realisation to her, that her faith in God is greater than anything—greater than other people’s judgment on her. Ruth also creates her content at Wee JoWee and shares there her motherhood stories. Though giving birth is one of the most wondrous things, it can also be difficult for mothers to manage stress when raising up a child. Ruth shares her learnings through her vlog so other mothers who need guidance can find it easily online. BEST MOMENTS “I just want to be that person that helps them and make everything better.” “Giving doesn’t mean giving all of yourself.” “My faith isn’t necessarily in people; my faith is in God.” “I don’t shove my beliefs down people’s throat…I’m always open to conversations ton understand other people’s views.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Visit Wee JoWee, where Ruth shares about her motherhood! https://www.weejowee.com/ Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 44E44: Diane Dewey
Can people come back from the dead? Author Diane Dewey never expected that she would meet her biological parents in her late 40s. She was led to believe her entire life that they were both dead. It was indeed a shock. But for Diane, she immediately got the urge to know them more so she could learn more about her roots and confront past trauma. Diane believes that it is only when we acknowledge a troubled past that we are then able to move on and heal for a better future. Diane also talks about her passion, visual arts. She believes that there is this unexplainable emotional exchange between the artist and the viewer/reader/etc. Listen in now to know more about her interesting life in this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast! KEY TAKEAWAYS It was at the age of 47 when Diane met her biological father. She wasn’t expecting this. She didn’t know that she would experience this kind of ‘plot twist’ in her life, especially at her age. After meeting her biological dad, she felt compelled to find her biological mother too—to learn more about her and to know more about her roots. Fear of abandonment is very common in adoption stories and the fear sometimes appears in adulthood. Diane advises that after a failed relationship, we should always choose to invest fully in love again. Further advice from Diane: Slow down, and listen to what your mind and heart are telling you. Sometimes, we’re too caught up in the hustle and bustle that we forget to keep ourselves in check. Am I still passionate about what I’m doing? Is this still my goal for the future? Though it may look absurd for some, to tell her full story in detail, Diane feels that this is what she’s meant to do in life. She wants to tell the world about her teachings and her healing process. She believes that people will relate to her story in so many ways. We all have flaws. Diane wants you to realise you have the power to own your own story and transform them into something valuable and impactful too. BEST MOMENTS “Fire in the belly is not necessarily wanting to have more. Sometimes, it’s wanting to get things out.” “Intuition is a form of guidance offered by your psyche.” “Your relationships in your whole life can be impacted by early abandonment.” “Regulate yourself emotionally.” “Your values are your voids too when you don’t allow feedback.” “Learning is always a form of communication.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read Fixing the Fates by Diane Dewey. Ep 43E43: Christy Doherty
In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete interviews Christy Doherty, aka the Sales Fighter, about his life story and sales success journey. He talks about the power of having an unstoppable mindset, the benefits of goal-setting, and the importance of persistence in sales and more. His determination to learn never stopped, and will never stop. That’s what Christy wants you to do too, be persistent in achieving your goals. KEY TAKEAWAYS Christy’s first job was working in his dad’s business. It was where he honed his people skills as he was dealing with customers all the time. This was also when he realised he wanted to continue his dad’s business. He has always dreamed of being a successful entrepreneur—increasing his business’ sales, getting busy with managing operations, and leading his team. Hard work always pays off. When he was working with Seagate, he used his free time during the night to learn new stuff and add more to his skillset. And, when a colleague of his offered to train him about sales, he just went for it. It was then he discovered that he has a knack for sales. Christy knew nothing about the art of goal setting before. So, although he can felt that there was more he could do, it was difficult for him to move forward. Where? Why? These should be the first things that one needs to figure out. It’s easy to plan how you can get there when there’s clarity and determination within you. Persistence is one of the key things a salesperson should have. Closing a deal doesn’t happen in a snap, most of the time. The truth is when you’re still in the first phase, you’ll encounter more rejections. But a sales fighter does not back down. If you know what you sell, and you know it could be beneficial to someone, then persuade them by all means. This also applies to your career. If you want to be promoted, then offer more. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill was an enormous influence in his life. He learned about the power of mindset. One can build a successful path if he believes he can manifest it. BEST MOMENTS “My vocation pretty much is a vacation.” “The why comes before how.” “That’s the fire in the belly...jumping off the bed and shouting, ‘I can’t wait for today!’.” “No matter where you start in a company, it’s down to you where it goes, and where it takes you.” “I was able to change my self-image through the ‘mental movies’, the affirmations, the visualisations, etc.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Ep 42E42: Mark Victor Hansen and Crystal Dwyer Hansen
In this episode of the Fire In The Belly, Pete talks to Mark Victor Hansen and Crystal Dwyer Hansen about how can a simple act of ASKING make your dreams be your destiny. Instead of regretting and thinking about “what could have been”, why not take the initiative now to learn more about yourself and the path you must take? According to Mark and Crystal, there are only three distinct channels through which you can ask: Ask Yourself, Ask Others, and Ask God. Easy to remember categories, right? Know everything about the process so you can reveal to yourself what your true destiny is today. We will never know what’s in store for us if we stay mum about everything. Also, you can read more about the secret art of asking in their recently-published book (see link below)! KEY TAKEAWAYS What does fire in the belly mean for them? Mark: You’re born with it. It teaches you how to ask for self-discovery. Crystal: It’s the desire to wanting more and to never stop. There are 3 channels in which you need to learn to ask: Ask yourself: We need to listen to what our mind and heart are telling us. That’s when we know what moves us. Also, there will always be things that you haven’t discovered yet about yourself. Ask others: We can only bring value and impact to other people when we start minding what others say. And most likely, these ideas, thoughts, or opinions will influence you big time. There is always a balance. Ask God: Crystal believes that spiritual guidance can develop your intuition. Belief and affirmations work in improving your mindset and wellbeing. Each channel is equally important. When you master each, it’s easy to get to know yourself, to chase for what you want, and to fully accept what you deserve. What holds you back from asking and knowing? Fear and doubts are big roadblocks for most. You won’t know their answer unless you try. And if it wasn’t something you weren’t hoping for, a NO should not affect your progress. Move on. Find someone (or something) who’d bring that desired impact in your life. During tough times—especially right now, we’re amid the coronavirus pandemic—questions change and the answers will change. We should be adaptable and be ready to reinvent ourselves under any given situation. There will be times that what happens won’t be what you’re expecting. BEST MOMENTS “There’s something out there that is magical. After recovery she promised not to downplay anything that happens to her body and wellbeing anymore. It was now time to take more care of it. Donna is a mental health advocate. She is using her voice to bring awareness about it to other people. If there is one thing that massively helped her, it’s the people who have been supportive of her journey. Donna also helps her clients traverse their paths regardless of what it is. You don’t have to present a grand plan. And if you surround yourself with the people who can raise your frequency—including a mentor like Donna—then you’re off at a wonderful start. Donna’s core values: Love for people Integrity Honesty Be grateful. Acknowledge what you have, so it’s easier to find your bigger purpose in life. It also becomes easier to be impactful in other people’s lives when you know your capabilities. Ep 40E40: Boardroom Talk - Pat Slattery - The Outstanding Series No1
In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete talks to Pat Slattery, an international business strategist and speaker, about being outstanding. So, how does one become outstanding, you ask? Pat emphasises that the first thing you have to do is to make the choice to be one—choose to BE outstanding. If you acknowledge that you are and you can be more, then everything will fall into place. It becomes easier to achieve your goal—to complete the puzzle of life. Other topics discussed today were how to remove toxic relationships in your life, how to choose being logical when you get emotional, what the benefits of storytelling are, and much more. Listen in now. KEY TAKEAWAYS It’s you who chooses your outcomes. Always choose to be outstanding in what you do. And when you acknowledge you’re outstanding, it’s easier to be strategic, to keep moving. Challenge yourself, if you think you’ve already achieved a task or a goal. Keep learning, keep thriving. Stop comparing yourself to others, and don’t let negative feedback get into your skin. If you do things intentionally for yourself, and not for anyone else, then achieving anything and conquering every challenge is more satisfying. Maintain a healthy and loving environment. It’s more productive when we surround ourselves who support us and cheer us up. This may be a hard pill to swallow, but there are people close to us who might derail you. When the time comes, you have you choose to sacrifice such connections. Be more logical when it comes to making decisions. When we let our emotions take over, mostly by fear and doubts, we arrive at wobbly decisions. We don’t want that to happen. This doesn’t mean that we should be rejecting our genuine feelings—always balance what the heart and mind wants to be outstanding. Master the art of storytelling. You have the vision, you have the money-making idea all cooked up. But how will you connect with people and sell them your product/service? Find what’s unique in you and what’s similar between you and your prospects. Learn their language, so you can better share your value. BEST MOMENTS “You have to live it, you have to breathe it, to become it.” “Nobody can be a better you than you.” “You don’t have to prove anything; you just have to show up with the best intention.” “Be the best you can be; if you’ve got nothing nice to say, don’t say it.” “Don’t get stuck! You can do it one step at a time.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 37E37: Hello Paul - Paul Coghlan Life Story
Hello Paul… Paul Coghlan can still remember the greeting of the medical team when he finally was told about his illness and his small chance of survival. Paul had to go through treatment immediately that time, after being diagnosed with a rare case of Leukaemia. Fortunately, he battled cancer with his family on his side. After those tough months, he discovered more of himself—he discovered his unstoppable mindset and his relentless determination. He never knew he’d get something out of his cancer journey. Today, Paul has served as a motivational speaker to professional groups, organisations, and businesses in improving themselves. His story is now a big inspiration and motivation to his clients. You can listen to Paul share more on what he has learned from cancer and how he help others in this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast! KEY TAKEAWAYS Paul’s life changed once cancer hit. He was doing fine before it—going to his everyday job, parenting and enjoying the mundane. He didn’t expect his life would make a sudden turn. Paul was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) and was told he has a very slim chance of surviving. There were many things pual took for granted that he could no longer do. What hurt the most whilst he was receiving treatment and recovering was the lack of fun interaction he could have with his daughter. A cancer journey is not something everyone can do alone. Keep your friends close. Get the emotional support and encouragement you need. Be grateful of them. It was very difficult for Paul, but he was always hopeful. He was more worried about the people around him—his partner, his daughter, his mum, etc. He needed to stay strong for them too. Are you ordinary or extraordinary? He always asks himself this. Paul can forgive himself and be ordinary in some certain stuff—his hobbies, in his lifestyle and such. But never in his career, his passion projects, and more so, in his advocacies in giving value to people. He’s happy that he is able to shine a light about cancer and also help others get through similar drawbacks. Trust is an important thing. When you’re in a life-threatening situation, it’s best to trust the experts. Doubts and fears will only result to a deteriorating mindset and health. Your willpower and positive mindset will greatly benefit you, and other people. BEST MOMENTS “If you’re not being real, you’re just fooling yourself and the people you surround yourself with.” “Work should be about doing something that you don’t hate.” “I like to get things done as quick as possible so I don’t have to think and worry about them.” “Believe in yourself, your capability, your mindset… and push through it.” “I am always setting a goal that is always bigger.” “My superpower is not being afraid to talk about my own experience ’cause I do believe I can make a difference.” “Mental health is extremely serious.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Download Paul Coghlan’s FREE eBook 'How Cancer Taught Me To Be More Resilient' here: https://www.paulcoghlan.ie/ Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Faced with an appalling prognosis, Paul unearthed character and determination he never knew existed. Paul has always been a keen sports man and credits a great deal of his recovery both mental and physical to his love of sport. He has spoken to sports groups, youth organisations and businesses both in Ireland and abroad. His personality and humour allow him to speak openly and passionately about the lessons he has learnt through his adversity, making him a compelling, memorable and above all inspirational speaker. Ep 36E36: Niamh McAuley
Niamh McAuley is the video marketing manager at Purple Dots Media. Her expertise lies in camera operation and video content production. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, we hear Niamh’s journey in finding her creative spirit from childhood up to now. Her creative hands are busy right now with helping her clients make better video content online. Video is one of the best marketing strategies out there, for businesses and thought leaders alike. We should know WHAT to post, HOW to take them, and WHERE to post them. Listen now to Pete and Niamh talk more about her business today! KEY TAKEAWAYS Whilst every child around her was interested (or maybe programmed by adults) to pursue a career in science, Niamh didn’t get pressured. She embraced her creative soul and honed her skills. She felt she was very lucky that her family supported her craft throughout. Creating videos was just a hobby when she was a teenager. She didn’t know she’d one day teach people and make money. It hasn’t always been easy, when Niamh’s posts first started gaining traction, she also attracted a lot of cyberbullies. This forced her to stop posting on her YouTube channel for a while and take a needed break. Time healed and slowly Niamh gained back her confidence. In 2014, Niamh built her own brand—the Purple Dots Media. This passion project turned business involves imparting her knowledge in video content production. Niamh didn’t always know she could be happy in what she’s doing now—sharing her expertise while also earning money for herself. Currently, she’s conducting workshops that can help individuals produce stunning video content with just the use of a mobile phone. The feedback she gets from her clients has been overwhelming at times, it makes her question herself. Do I deserve all that’s happening to me right now? (Of course, she does.) Though Niamh has built an extensive network in her business. She can’t help to think of the ties with some clients that didn’t work. But she knows things can’t always be forced, she just moves on and is grateful with the sizeable difference she’s making in the community. She wishes them well and hopes that they find the right mentor. Choose Hygge (Danish word for happiness). Niamh has been quite interested in this concept lately. She has read countless books and watched informative films/videos in the past in which she credits much of her self-improvement and positive self-image. And she found out that the things she thought people don’t like (e.g. humour) are actually the things that draw people in. BEST MOMENTS “I’m inspired in making a difference.” “There is no such thing as perfect; there is no such thing as success. This may be controversial… but success is just an opinion.” “I used to think people laugh at me… Now, I just used it to my advantage.” “I decided to just be myself through videos in Facebook and LinkedIn.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)!
