Ep 35E35: Finding Happiness in What You Do With Gabriel DeSanti

“Creating something by myself and then putting it out for the world to see.” Gabriel DeSanti is a content creator and an influencer from NYC. At 22, he has already helped fellow content creators step up their game and served as a motivational speaker in various events. In today’s episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete and Gabe talk about his career and how he found happiness in it. He didn’t find his niche at first, but he knew he was passionate about creating and making videos, so this is where he put his focus. He wants to continue what he is doing—post more YouTube vlogs, help people, and talk more about his passions. Listen in to know more. KEY TAKEAWAYS His creative skills were something he gained in his early teens, during this time he became addicted to video games. He’d make videos on his PlayStation and share his Call of Duty and other gameplays on YouTube. Then after that phase, he explored graphic design and animation. He then tinkered with video cameras. He found freedom and saw more possibilities he could explore with this new tool. Helping other content creators (i.e. YouTube vloggers) find their own creative process, improve their storytelling, video editing skills and increase their social media engagements is also one of Gabe’s passions. Gabriel’s advice so you can find your own happiness: Surround yourself with positive people. Gabriel sees improvement in his mindset and mood when people around him are not toxic and are motivating enough. Fulfil the 6 Human Needs, namely: certainty, variety, significance, love and connection, growth and contribution. When there’s something missing, then you will feel unhappy. BEST MOMENTS “Fire in the belly is whatever fires me up and whatever that is hard to switch off.” “I have so many ideas I want to make, but if I don’t make something and start, then I’m just gonna think about them forever.” “I’m so grateful to be able to do it at a young age.” “There is a cap to happiness.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 34E34: Claire Rees

The tourism industry is having a difficult time right now. The coronavirus pandemic has made it difficult for people to travel so there are no customers. But, that doesn’t mean such businesses shouldn’t be considered by aspiring entrepreneurs in the future. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete talks to Claire Rees, the co-director at Introbiz Sweden and Wild Spirit, about her successful journey in starting a business in the wilderness. If we’re being honest, it is not something that most entrepreneurs would risk to do. But Claire and her husband has proven that it could thrive—they grew their dog sledding business at the peak of a mountain with zero to little resources. Their vision to expand has been paused because of the outbreak, but they’re ready to hit the play button soon. There is a lot that any entrepreneur can learn from her experience. Listen in to know more. KEY TAKEAWAYS What is it like to run a business in the middle of nowhere? Claire likes the calmness and peace she feels being within nature. She’s always been thrilled to run a business where she can enjoy her freedom, help people, and also increase her wealth. As Claire and her husband are running 3 businesses, internet connection is vital for them. Living far from urbanised areas can be difficult. So now, they are looking at ways to further develop the place to keep every business operation up to date as well as serve as an amenity for their customers. Claire and her husband Richard like helping people—whether it be by helping them stay fit or giving tourists a great experience. In their business, it’s not just people they deal with. They are also responsible of taking good care of the dogs. For example, when dogs are having a terrible day, then they don’t want to be with other people, especially the strangers. So, the dogs’ needs have to be met first. The furry friends’ disposition and health are as important as the people’s in their business. Businesses should be able to run on their own, according to Claire. This is her vision. She wants to be able to enjoy her freedom and time with family, with or without having to be hands on in the business all the time, in the future. Claire’s advice for entrepreneurs: Always aim for self-improvement. Do what you think is right for you. don’t let someone else dictate your path. Other people’s suggestions and feedback are just that, nothing else. It’s up to you if you want to take them into consideration. But if their words just stall you or push you backwards in terms of improvement, then it’s time to rethink, and maybe shut them out. BEST MOMENTS “It always has to be sustainable. I don’t want to be reactive.” “The seclusion and the escape into the wild is the life we want to end up to.” “I love people, but I like my space.” “What keeps me going is the positivity that people get.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 33E33: Cody Wanner

One of the best ways to put your content out there and engage more people is by using videos. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete talks to Cody about social media marketing and video content strategies. Cody was able to gain thousands of followers on various platforms and was named YouTube Creator On The Rise in 2018. According to Cody, the most important thing in content creation is you find a story/idea interesting enough for you and them. After this, you’re all set to go. You can now continue in the video production phase. There are so many things they talk about today—from the evolution of filmmaking in social media, to brain health, to not having 100% perfect content—so tune in! KEY TAKEAWAYS “If there’s something you need to do, quit thinking about it and do it.” – Grant Cardone The way people consume media has changed a lot. For example, videos have now evolved because of the platforms available. Tiktok, a video-sharing app, has now been downloaded million times on Google Play Store and Apple iOS. People are getting more creative and resourceful to fit it all within the one-minute mark of Tiktok so they get more views. What should be your video content strategy? More than the skill of video editing and what not, storytelling should be the priority. It is what drives your sales. People click your content (i.e. video) and engage more because of the idea you offer. When you have the story laid out, then it’s time to get your hands on the video production. Cody sees he is at his best self when creating. Your ideas need to keep fresh, so do everything to boost your brain power. Proper sleep and good nutrition are always the way to go if you want to keep the neurons working. Mindfulness meditation can also help stimulate creativity too. Get it done first before making it 100% perfect. There will be so much time and energy—and even opportunities—wasted if you wait for an Obra maestro to appear in a day. Take it step-by-step; meet your deadlines first, keep putting out video content. BEST MOMENTS “I am not a 100% type of person into somebody else’s system; I am a type of person who creates systems and implements my own systems.” “Sales and creativity (or creation) are so in mesh with each other.” “Embrace your weirdness. Embrace what makes you ‘you’ and don’t shy away from that.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 32E32: Matt Thompson - Best of Belfast

“Be who you needed when you were younger.” In today’s episode of The Fire in The Belly Podcast, Pete talks to Matt Thompson, the creator and host of the Best of Belfast Podcast, about his journey. He has launched a platform to showcase the beautiful places of Northern Ireland and its people. This has gained so much traction and success since it started. He has been putting the people of Belfast in the spotlight since 2017, and he doesn’t see it stopping anytime soon. Pete and Matt discuss many topics, including dealing with pain, healing, embracing faith, the pros and cons of technology/social media and helping others. He also gives some great tips on how to improve your creativity, so tune in today. KEY TAKEAWAYS The only remedy for your pain is acknowledging it and accepting that there will be changes. Living with it every single day will be hard. Many cope by escaping it, by resorting to addiction. This is very destructive since pain will always try to find its way to creep back in. And it may even hit you harder. So as early as possible, learn how to cope properly, so you finally heal. Walk down the path you think, and feel, is right for you. For Matt, his faith is very important to him. He’s a Christian, and there’s no shame in saying that. It gives him the power to overcome the fears & doubts and to push forward in life. Find something, or someone, that will drive you to better yourself. Matt will always be thankful to have found a partner he’s comfortable with and complements him. His wife Jaci has opened his eyes to a wider perspective on maintaining healthy relationships, on creating more worthwhile connections, and perhaps most significantly, on helping people. Two years ago, Matt quit all social media platforms—from Facebook to Instagram to Twitter,—he saw the toxicity it brought despite it helping his business thrive at the beginning. There are so many other ways one can conduct business transactions. He won’t ever forget his grandmother’s reaction whenever he shows her his new gadgets. She despises them, as she sees them as a danger to any person and their relationships. Matt adds that he enjoys learning from other generations since he gains some of their wisdom. He advises that you do too. Matt Thompson’s advice to improve your creativity: Be consistent. You improve and you become productive when you show up every time. Work in small chunks, then incrementally increase them through time. Sometimes, creativity needs tough love. Don’t get thrown off by the pressure of deadlines or not being the best. There will be something good that will come out of it, always. BEST MOMENTS “I try to understand other people to help me understand myself.” “We are expressing ourselves less and less. We’re much more passive now. And we’re consuming more than what we create.” “The life that I have lived and currently live is beyond my expectations.” “God says, ‘Use the choice between life and death. And I urge you to choose life.’” “To be present with your pain and to run into it.” “Creativity needs tough love.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 31E31: Adrian Vazquez

Sometimes, it just takes another with exceptional talent to make your message more impactful. Adrian Vazquez, our guest for this episode of Fire In The Belly Podcast, shares how he was able to build his career and how he was able to work with top names in different industries. He also gives useful advice on finding your niche and creating content. Adrian hasn’t always had solid plan for his future, but he has always been a risk-taker and an optimist; he has never let great opportunities slip through his hands. You can learn more on how you can propel forward in your career when you listen in today. KEY TAKEAWAYS There’s nothing wrong with having no concrete plans YET. Don’t panic. At your own pace, you’ll figure out where you should go and how to swim through life’s challenges. After being ‘skilled’ with whatever life throws at you, everything will be clear from then on. It becomes easier to plan. Adrian himself didn’t know he’d enjoy being behind a camera so much. He can still remember the time when his life changed. It was the time he worked with Gary Vaynerchuk, mostly helping in repurposing his content. He realised his talent could be something powerful as well as helpful to others. That was just the start. Adrian knew he could create more content for more people. His clients trusted him fully, so he was free to incorporate his creative style and voice. It was fulfilling to know that he could make money using what he enjoyed doing and what he was ‘good at’. Some pieces of advice from Adrian when creating content: Find your niche first. It’s better to excel at one thing than try to be an expert at everything. Most likely, if there’s no full focus at a certain endeavour, results will be subpar. Story is the most important thing about creating a content. If you can’t tell a compelling story, regardless in what medium, then you won’t have enough reach. When inspiration doesn’t find you, it might be best to take a step back from work for a while to get a fresher and clearer mind. BEST MOMENTS “I was determined to make something.” “You can have anything you want in your life if you’re willing to put in the work.” “Every time Ryan connects me with new people, I make sure to maintain the relationship and give a good first impression by giving value immediately.” “If you have one skill you’re really good at, triple down on it and use it as your Trojan Horse.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 30E30: Network Marketing With Brian Chittick

“You get paid with what your worth, so it’s best if you work your way up.” This is according to Introbiz’s Male Entrepreneur of the Year 2019 and serial entrepreneur Brian Chittick. Today in the Fire In the Belly Podcast, Pete and Brian discusses more about network marketing. Network marketing helped Brian build and grow businesses. Brian was always eager to grow his businesses, so he maintains healthy relationships with people in his network. Brian also shares that his fellow entrepreneurs and colleagues in his network were able to better their lives too. Brian also discusses his career growth, the time he met Richard Branson, resetting his life at 54, the 3 things entrepreneurs must be wary about, personal stories, and much more, so make sure to listen in today! KEY TAKEAWAYS Brian Chittick was always a hard worker. Money wasn’t his primary motivator. In fact, he remembers the time where he worked as a bartender when he was young and earning very litte. He never complained, he believed it was an excellent start for him, and that he would soon be venturing towards more opportunities. And he did, he continued switching to better jobs and progressing further. Then, he started his own business. There were so many ups and downs during his entrepreneurship journey. A difficult situation even made him push the reset button—he had to start all over again. Luckily, growth was quick for Brian. Network marketing is a business strategy that relies on one-to-one sales by independent representatives. The more people who are in your network, the more money you can earn. Over 200 million a day in commission can be secured through network marketing, that’s why most businesses value it immensely. Brian still has his enormous network (made up of friends, business stockholders & colleagues) who he’s still in contact with, even after 20 years. Brian attributes trust as one of the top reasons he has maintained such a valuable network. There is no such thing as coincidence. Everything happens for a reason. You must be intentional in your business if you want to get the results you want. Don’t be afraid to fail. It’s better to risk, just remember to evaluate your resources, your manpower, and your own capabilities. When asked what mistakes you should avoid as an entrepreneur, Brian advises that everyone should learn balance. Don’t be too trusting with people; don’t be too cavalier with money. Further advice is to prepare a fall back. Some newer entrepreneurs might enjoy splurging too much. There can be unforeseen events (e.g. coronavirus pandemic) that can cause market crashes. Be ready. BEST MOMENTS “Fire in the belly means always being driven to do something better.” “Having a side income is not a luxury, it’s a necessity.” “Greed is an awful thing in business, in any way. If you only look at what’s coming in and not also of what’s coming out, then you’ve got the wrong perspective.” “The world is such a small place, and there are many opportunities out there.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 29E29: Deep Health Coaching With Jennifer Byrne

Fire In The Belly Podcast #029: Deep Health Coaching With Jennifer Byrne DESCRIPTION Nourish to flourish! That’s Jennifer Byrne’s, our guest for today, advice to everyone listening in. It’s easy to be happy and be impactful to everyone around you when you’re self-aware—not only with the mind, body and soul, but also with your relationships and everything that surrounds you. Jennifer has always been passionate about helping others. Before she became the go-to Deep Health Coach, she endured a 12-year abusive relationship. This has brought her emotional turmoil. But she was able to get out of this because of mindfulness, accountability, and determination. She is ‘done’ with toxicity. Her mind is now always set to better her health, fitness and nutrition. Start listening to know about her 360-degree approach and more in this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast. KEY TAKEAWAYS Jennifer entered an abusive relationship when she was in her early 20s, endured it and finally broke free from it after 12 years. She has always felt that she has been a single parent; she was parenting alone, even with her partner around. It was difficult to cope and understand what was happening. She resorted to vices to anaesthetise the emotional pain. But she also remembers that during that time, it was going to the gym that would add (even a small bit) of happiness every day. Build yourself from inside out. Be your own cheerleader every single day. When Jennifer started her journey to healing, it wasn’t easy at first. She was transitioning from a destructive environment to finally owning her freedom, her independence. She started building her knowledge and adding more to her skill set. This and with the help of her loved ones, she was able to stabilise herself, her relationships, and her life. Nourish to flourish. Jennifer always works on herself. She has always ben mindful about her nutrition and physical health. This has helped her a lot, especially through awful times. That is why she set up her business—she wants everyone to realise that they can attain the healthiest and happiest versions of themselves. Face the truth. Acknowledge what’s working, and what is not serving you. Don’t lie to yourself. Be responsible. It’s easy to live honestly. We stop making excuses for ourselves when we know our abilities as well as our limitations. BEST MOMENTS “Strive for progress, not perfection.” “And that has saved my sanity… being active and exercising.” “I’m still on a journey. I’m still healing myself.” “I have always been passionate for what I do. I know what I do works because I’m a living proof.” “I don’t like being called the victim of domestic violence. I’m not a victim; I’m not a survivor. I don’t like the words being attached to it… I was just being honest with myself.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 28E28: Harness Your Personal Power - with Eamonn Walsh

Did you know that you can reverse engineer any unwanted conditioning of yours and then build that unstoppable mindset afterwards? Well, you can. Today in the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete talks to Eamonn Walsh, a Sales Coach and the creator of The Power of the Individual, where he educates on how you can use your personal power to grow, lead, and succeed—whether it be in your career or your business. His clients are mostly individuals who have had problems with their businesses (particularly start-ups) but were able to save them, if not improve them further, with Eamonn’s immense help. Some topics discussed in this episode are; creating value, being responsible, accepting failures and finding your language. Start tuning in to learn more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Best of both worlds. No matter what it is, whether it be music or innovative business solutions, Eamonn makes sure he’s all in. He can create something useful out of nothing. Always curious, always tinkering on stuff. It was always his passion to create, since he enjoys seeing significant results and getting problems solved. Responsibility = empowerment. We’re responsible for what happens to us. We choose who to surround ourselves with, what next steps to take, and what paths to follow. If you always choose the best things, and also are ready for failures, then it’s easy to achieve your wanted results. That’s your personal power. Find your success language. It’s easy to attract success when you speak confidently and positively, just like any successful person. You will attract like-minded people. This will also help you in a sales environment. There’s a language that you and the other party (i.e. customer) understands. You can easily convince people of what you’re selling, may it be an idea, a product, or a service. There’s also the importance of non-verbal language. When the world feels good to you, it will resonate. If what you’re doing doesn’t create value, then why are you still doing it? For Eamonn, it’s important that every time he creates and starts a new project, it helps other people. BEST MOMENTS “Fire in the belly for me is true passion. It’s when you truly made a decision on something and nothing stands in your way.” “I enjoyed school because I had great and fantastic opportunities to do what I wanted to do, build/ create things, and turn one thing into something completely different.” “I am responsible for everything that’s in my world. And I am responsible for what remains in my world.” “Failure is often the right decision.” “CAN is the most obvious truth you will ever tell yourself, and CAN’T is the most obvious lie you will tell yourself.” “What the Power of the individual does is teach reverse engineering; take those bits of conditioning that you don’t like and replace it with something good.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 27E27: What’s Holding You Back? With Bernie Allen

“I don’t want to die with all this knowledge inside of me… That’d hurt me to know that I haven’t passed down my skills.” Bernie Allen, a speaker, coach and author, is our guest for today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast. In this episode she speaks about her personal and business life. She has overcome a lot of obstacles. Every individual she meets, she relates and sympathises with. Everything that happens, happens for a reason. She emphasises that it’s time to accept things as it is, be grateful and move forward. Everyone can learn from Bernie, as she is relentless, determined, and very passionate. She has given hands-on help, which has improved their lives and then succeeded. Start learning from her and know if you’re doing everything right in your journey in life. Tune in. KEY TAKEAWAYS Observe and learn. Most of us will run as fast as we can once we hear multilevel marketing aka MLM. But what Bernie did was astounding. She didn’t pass any judgement, kept her mouth shut, and just asked questions where she saw a chance. She was eager to learn—to avoid others mistakes, and to copy what made them earn big. No limits, no exceptions. It doesn’t matter who you are or what your background is, as long as you’re determined. Put in the effort every single time, no matter how tiny or big the task is. Bernie herself does not have those glittery honorifics or a bunch of certificates. She knows she has to work hard to get to the top. She’s relentless and determined. What made Bernie write her book? Bernie used to do inspirational talks for various people, where she got an overwhelming response. It turns out she isn’t that unique. When she speaks about her difficulties and challenges, many relate to her. She realised she can do more for more people. So, she wrote a very informative book about life and business. Your goal is her goal. As a mentor, she ensures she doesn’t impose any meaning of success onto her clients. If the individual just wants to have a happy heart and live simply, and none of the increasing wealth shenanigans, then Bernie won’t question them. They’ll still get the hands-on help. BEST MOMENTS “If you keep doing what you’re doing, you’re going to keep getting what you’re getting.” “The person who raises their voice first has lost the argument.” “There is nothing that you can say to me I haven’t gone through.” “What you don’t know is not gonna do you any harm.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 26E26: Achieving Peak Performance With Adam Strong

In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete sits with Adam Strong, an Elite Athlete turned Business Coach, to talk about how you can achieve peak performance and increase productivity levels so you can reach your goals in no time. Adam believes that the focus, discipline, and teamwork that he has learned in his vigorous training for being an athlete were significant factors on how he got where he is now. Aside from growing his business and wealth, he has also grown his reach—he is helping more solopreneurs and companies than ever. Some other topics that were discussed today too were: the effect of sports in mental health, business coaching, leading teams, strategic business plans, helping other people, and many more. Time to listen in. KEY TAKEAWAYS The Art of Running. When Adam was a kid, he got bullied a lot because of his alopecia. This affected his self-worth and confidence. So, he did something else to get his mind off things—he started running. Adam never gave being a top athlete a thought. He just kept practising and practising. At first, it was difficult because asthma attacks were prominent, but he continued training every single day. In return, this improved his health, increased his confidence, and he then became an elite athlete. From flipping burgers to growing his own business. His first job was as a part-time in McDonald’s. Most would abhor it, but Adam was plain happy that he was learning about responsibility, leadership, and finances. It was easy for him to climb the ladder and it came to a point where he also led teams. At 25, he became a Personal Trainer in a cruise ship, a dream job of his. He had such a wonderful learning experience. He explored while helping other people. But he had to go back to the UK and look for other opportunities. This time, he wanted to run his own business and team. When he first started conducting personal training, there was an overwhelming response. But he knew he could grow his reach more. So, he met with a business coach who helped him gain clarity about his life and business goals. During this interaction, he learned that he not only had immense knowledge of sports, but he was also a skilled public speaker. A business strategist rather than a business coach. Adam can easily empower people to be great in their endeavours because of his expertise in sports and business. He advises to take things step by step and always continue moving, aiming to achieve peak performance every time. BEST MOMENTS “I never compare myself to anyone else. We all have different backgrounds. We all have different goals.” “I started getting better through training and repetition. Repetition is the best form of practice.” “It wasn’t happening for me… Enough is enough. I’m done with struggling. I’m done with not being able to provide for my kids.” “I genuinely want to help people.” “Coaching is as important to me as breathing.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 25E25: Healing From A Traumatic Experience With Lisa Burke

Giving birth is a big turning point for any woman and family. People talk about how beautiful it is and we treat it as a blessing. But how come we never talk about the effect on a mother’s life afterwards? In this episode of the Fire In the Belly Podcast, Pete sits down with Lisa Burke, an author and yoga teacher, to talk about her traumatic birth experience and how yoga and meditation helped her get through it. Listen in to learn how Lisa managed this and how she found her inner peace and balance. KEY TAKEAWAYS There was addiction in Lisa's family which brought many challenges particularly in relation to her self-identity and self-value. Ultimately the quest was to find a place of balance not just within herself but with her family. This is never easy, but acknowledging the truth allowed for a place to begin the healing. Practising yoga and being around her family helped her improve her health and wellbeing. Though yoga was her #1 solace, it wasn’t possible to do it after her traumatic birth experience. Lisa suffered from postpartum PTSD and had to see a therapist. Her physical (plus psychological & mental) wounds healed, but life became very different. She needed to provide for her child financially, developmentally and emotionally. So, due to financial reasons, Lisa had to put a halt to teaching Kundalini yoga, and apply for a typical 9-5 job. But what isn’t for you, isn’t for you. It was sucked the life out of her. It needs to feel right. When Lisa was working a job she didn’t like, she was dreadful and in pain, even outside the office. According to Lisa, it’s easier to be successful when you’re happy with what you’re doing. So, she left the job, wrote her book, and started teaching again. Listen and connect to what your heart is telling you. Always ask: Does it feel right? Speak your truth. When we share our traumatic experience, we help ourselves and other people. We connect. We hear other insights and take in whatever that could help us. BEST MOMENTS “We all meet that part of ourselves when we want to connect to something deeper, to understand who we are, or to understand why we are here for.” “When you do something that your heart isn’t calling for, a part of you dies.” “If we are able to stop, to turn inwards, to slow down, to calm, to just come at the head and drop down into the heart… that’s where our calling comes from.” “We are required to open up this soft belly, this part of ourselves that has the power to move forward—the power to take steps.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 24E24: Positive Mindset – With Nicola Connolly Byrne

Let your guts talk. When Nicola Connolly Byrne, our guest for today, started helping other people to attain their goals, she didn’t have a blueprint to follow. She was just simply guided by her passion to serve other people. In this episode, Pete talks to Nicola on how to be the best version of yourself. Nicola dives deep into how loving yourself and having a positive mindset can instantly help you do that. One thing that can help you know yourself is to also get to know more of your close ties (i.e. family). The people around you generally weigh in big on your decisions, so listen to them. But also remember the importance of balance. We must ensure individual growth as well as maintain relationships. Learn more when you tune in today on the Fire in the Belly Podcast. KEY TAKEAWAYS We learn so much from our family. Here are things that Nicola learned throughout the years. Keep them close. Your family greatly influenced the principles, beliefs, and values you have right now. Having them around, keeping in touch with them, will strengthen your self and social identity. And to add, Nicola also examined in significant detail her family tree to know more about herself. Keep your boundaries. Nicola has had a tight relationship with her brother since childhood, it grew even more when their mum died. Nicola has always been caring and protective of him. But then she realised how unhealthy this is for him, and for them. Though surrounding yourself with your loved ones is great, we should note that there should be respect for one’s individual growth and exploration too. Break the mould. Nicola prides herself as a fighter. She’s quite relentless in growing her career and her business. Sometimes, sacrifices need to be done too in order to get your wanted results. Don’t be afraid to try new things, to get out of your comfort zone, and to fail. Nicola’s adventure in life is mostly driven by others’ needs, not her own needs. There is no absolute and definite path that she traverses. Whatever people need from here, she goes the extra mile to provide them. Things that kids should learn during their formative years: Speak respectfully. Participate only in constructive conversations. Listen to people. Don’t exclude anyone. Support other people. Trust your gut intuition. BEST MOMENTS “If you’re not challenged, you haven’t grown.” “I wanted to be doing something that is important. Just to clarify, it doesn’t make other people less important than you—it just means you’re expressing yourself in different ways.” “It’s much easier to be yourself, than to be someone else.” “For Irish people, it’s frowned upon when you say you love yourself. But if I don’t love myself properly, how can I love others properly?” “Fire in the belly is following your passion. Fire in the belly is doing the unpopular thing even when you know it is right for you. Fire in the belly is doing things out of the ordinary.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 23E23: Don’t Put Too Much Pressure On The Kids With Vivian McKinnon

Kids can be unruly and get on any parent’s nerves sometimes. But that doesn’t mean we can lash out at them anytime. Your screaming won’t cut it if you want them to really learn so they won’t do it again in the future. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete talks to Vivian McKinnon, a Floatation & Trauma Specialist, a public speaker, and a coach, about how she helps her clients by sharing her personal stories (including recovery from traumas). No one should be ever told that they are less than enough. Kids deserve to be given hope and should not be pressured. Let them discover themselves and dream. Tune in to know more about mental health and more today. KEY TAKEAWAYS Vivian grew up in a not so perfect family. Though very supportive of her activities when she was a child, her parents fought a lot. She never felt she was greatly loved. In fact, she felt rejected throughout her childhood; always trying to do whatever she could to be accepted. This affected her mental health, which manifested physically too. Despite her past strained relationships—not just with her family, but also with her previous partners)—Vivian was still able to live the life she wanted to live. She strived harder to attain some stability, financially and mentally. As a Wellness Consultant, she and her team have equipped themselves with enough knowledge, resources, strategies, models and tools to help her clients. Vivian also believes her own personal story and her killset can make people embrace themselves truly and be strong during tough times. No person is broken. Most of the people who think this way have no one around them who support them, boost their moral, or make things clear for them. It’s important that we are reassured during our formative years that we deserve great (and much greater) things. Don’t put too much pressure on the kids. Also, give them hope. BEST MOMENTS “You look back and there’s always somebody in your life that you know was never meant to be there, but is.” “Go for the things you want and act like you already have them.” “Vulnerability is a place where you can grow and develop more.” “I love myself. I accept myself for who I am. I make pretty good decisions. I am a pretty decent mum.” “I am who I am because of the experience that I have.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 22E22: The journey of Evelyn McAleer and being Effortless and Living a Life You Want

This is what you are; this is who you really are. Have you found what your purpose in life is already? Our guest for today is Evelyn McAleer, a life coach who can help you find your purpose and your path. Learn how you can honour your authentic self and fulfil your intentions. Evelyn also discusses the importance of gratitude, selflessness, and balance. Evelyn shares how it wasn’t easy for her to find her own path. That is why she wants to help others move effortlessly towards theirs. Tune in now to the latest episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast to know more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Evelyn is a spiritual life coach. Evelyn wants you to understand how and where one’s spirit or energy comes from. All the answers you need are already with you. You just need to listen to what your subconscious is telling you. When you truly are one with your mind and soul, everything will fall into place. Ask when you need help. Stop neglecting what’s lacking and not working. Sometimes, it’s just external push from someone/something else that we need so to put in the effort to better ourselves. Get energised from your relationships. They might give that reinforcing stimulus you need. We can prevent any negative thinking when we know how great we are and what magnificent things we can do. Don’t let any rotten apples interfere with personal development and career success. Start your day right. Appreciation and gratefulness give off an optimistic vibe which can help you move forward throughout the day. Your disposition too affects everyone you interact with. So, if in business, in order for your team to be productive and perform their best, you must be their role model. What’s your purpose? Will that purpose benefit others too? Always be intentional. But when what you do is self-serving and has no regard for other people, it’s difficult to be content and see the value in what you’re reaching towards. According to Evelyn, there’s a more impactful change to your life when you become selfless. BEST MOMENTS “That's the beauty with having children... as much as we as parents believe that we will show teach them, they are the best teachers we'll ever have in this life.” “When you let go of things that your energy is not in, that’s when it frees up space to let in what is coming to you.” “Some people don’t realise their greatness. That’s what I hope to bring to people so they can create and have the life they want.” “We have to honour our emotions. When we have a passing of a loved one, and the relationship breaks up, you go through mixed emotions. You don’t block them off.” “I believe everyone is here on their own journey. Ep 21E21: Phil Graham!

“The fitness industry is big right now; it’s thriving.” It’s true. People are more self and health-conscious than ever before. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete sits with Phil Graham, Personal Coach and Bestselling author, to talk everything about personal fitness. Entrepreneurs in the said niche, will learn a lot from Phil as he shares how he built and grew his own personal fitness business. His own 10 Commandments can help you grow your wealth, impact, and freedom, just like they helped his clients. Phil also goes back to the beginning and shares his battle with Diabetes. He wants to enlighten many people about maintaining a healthy mind, body, and soul, that is why he became a fitness entrepreneur. Tune in to find out more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Phil was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was 16. And to make it worse, he was advised it was serious and life-threatening. This prompted him to change his lifestyle, plan a healthier diet, and exercise more. He was eager to improve his life expectancy so he can enjoy more of everything. Phil was inspired to help other people suffering from diabetes and other chronic illnesses too. So he studied about biochemistry and nutrition, trained for bodybuilding, and wrote informational books. In the end, he was able to build his credibility and become the go-to fitness trainer. Personal fitness business is no different from the usual businesses. Phil advises to always reinvent your ways and to solve any issues early on. From his observations, some fitness entrepreneurs get comfortable when they see that they’re achieving results. Always aim to do more so you can help more people. It all starts within yourself. We can never master the art of living, but we can savour every bit life offers by living with our own standards in mind and knowing about our own limitations. How do you convince your team to bring as much value into your business? Be very clear on your mission and visions. Show those ‘on-stage’ and backstage. Get results. Phil emphasises the importance of personal development too. It’s essential to look back and evaluate what happened in the past as there may be lessons to be learnt. Be grateful for your successes as well as your failures. BEST MOMENTS “Fire in the belly for me means waking up in the morning super excited to face the challenges for the day… It’s not all about the wins but the chaos that comes with it and being able to leverage the best way you can.” “Nutrition, exercise, mindset, medication and lifestyle…Those were the areas in my life that I locked into.” “Having a rough idea is a better way to look at it, and thinking more acutely like in months, in quarters, or in weeks, then build it up to that.” “I want to be a better human being and love myself more and more each day.” “The biggest and important thing for me is how can I serve humanity, how can I love myself, how can I be on a real mission to help and contribute as much as I can.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 19E19: Kenny Falconer Interview

Kenny Falconer is a life coach who helps his clients improve their EQ, or a.k.a. emotional quotient/intelligence, to achieve more. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Kenny talks us through his successful career change from being in construction to business coaching. Kenny has tried many different jobs in the construction. Though he enjoyed the industry, he decided that he wanted to help more people by becoming a true-life beacon. He studied, became an NLP Coach & Practitioner, and a Time Line Therapy Practitioner. He has had many clients who have achieved exactly the results they were looking for. Tune in to find out more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Construction was always in his blood. Kenny’s father owned a construction yard, where he would spend most of his holidays when he was a kid. He had experienced working as a joiner, a foreman, and a manager. It was in construction that he honed his skill set. Teamwork, responsibility, and trust are just some values he learned while working there. He remembers the time he was working as a Director; working with people came naturally to him because he leads with compassion. He advises for leaders to always be understanding. Like many entrepreneurial minds, he also explored property investment. Ken bought over ten houses. Everything went well, until the recession hit. He had to file for bankruptcy and had to sell some properties. This greatly affected Kenny personally. Kenny also advises to create boundaries. Don’t treat your clients (e.g. tenants) like your blood relatives. Learn to draw the fine line. If it’s business, be strict in following your own rules. As this will become a problem in the future, especially in your finances. Spend time with your family. Kenny is used to working long hours. So, he missed many family dinners, kids’ birthdays, etc. He’d make it up by buying them gifts. But he learned that this was not what they wanted. It’s just time, quality time, you need to give as a father. As a coach, he wants to help people get the clarity they need so they can traverse life smoothly and achieve optimum results. Sometimes, people just need some outside perspective on their situation. Ask for help. Be open-minded and learn new things from others. BEST MOMENTS “I love my work. There is never a day that I wake up and think, why do I have to go to work.” “Acknowledge responsibility. Be responsible about the quality of work that you’re going to give.” “Keep your emotions and love with your family, friends, and the circle of people around you. But when it comes to business, keep it separate.” “There’s a lot of people out there who do the same thing. If you’re happy enough in that hamster wheel, stay there. But I will suspect that you’re not. Come out the hamster wheel of life, take a rest, and do something you’ve never done before.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in iTunes (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 18E18: Trish McGirr Interview

For Trish McGirr, a Business Consultant, Coach and Mentor, it’s her personal stories that she treats as her capital. It’s the key reason people go to her and then ask: How can we get our 6-figure dream? In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete talks to Trish about how sharing the gameplay of your life can influence other people. There’s nothing more valuable than helping someone improve to be a better person and better entrepreneur. Share what works and what doesn’t. In addition, Trish also shares the ups and downs of her personal life—from her childhood dreams to her personal relationships to the pursuit of her own happiness. From the very start, Trish was already a high achiever. Listen in to learn more about her. KEY TAKEAWAYS Trish was born in Northern Ireland. She spent the whole of her primary school education in Liverpool but needed to go back home to continue her education. She always felt like a stranger growing up. Even her mum and dad were having a hard time giving her what she needed, since they were also dealing with their own problems. She studied nursing in her hometown. Her mum dealing with depression and her dad with addiction were enormous factors in deciding what she pursued. She still can remember the exact date she started practising—it was on the 22nd of November 1982. For almost 30 years, Trish was a health nurse, specialising in addictions. Starting a new lesson, or a new phase in her life, isn’t new for Trish. She always gets by and adapts quickly. But when it comes to maths, especially when taught traditionally, she struggles. Trish has a learning disability called dyscalculia. There are many ways to cope with the condition and in doing these she hasn’t let it stop her achieving the things she wants. Trish also talks about how addiction gets overlooked by most of its victims. They don’t know they are already suffering from it unless they reach a low point and/or get diagnosed. Take note that someone can be addicted to anything—whether it be alcohol, success, cheating, or something else. No matter how awful things go, if you trust in and are open enough to what the world has to offer, you’ll be okay. Trish had marriage issues including financial problems. But she got through this with the love and support of those closest to her. Trish has now been thriving as a business consultant for almost 20 years. She’s been the go-to, and the most trusted consultant from sharing her own success blueprints. She offers varied and different programmes so she can cater to more people. Anyone can be better in business and reach the six-figure numbers. BEST MOMENTS “We need more energy and more positivity, especially in what’s happening in the world. Let’s re-inspire people.” “I always felt like a stranger looking in. Often, my concepts and ideas didn’t really land with people around me. I was always a big-picture-person. I was always a dreamer.” “There are pivotal moments in your life. Sometimes, they are the worst possible day; sometimes, they are also the best possible day.” “To do the things I really wanted to do, to be the person who I want to be, that’s what made me better in business.” “We all have things that we need to do. Allow yourself some time. As long as you carry on… believe in yourself. Find a way.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in iTunes (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 17E17: Do Things For Other People - With Stephen Morrow

One good deed a day. That’s what Stephen Morrow wants you to do—to live your life. We cannot notice the beauty in the mundane stuff when we’re too hooked with our schedules, quotas, goals, etc. There’s a lot to see. In this episode of the Fire in the Belly Podcast, we learn more about how to do things for other people. Know how appreciation and gratitude can go a long way when achieving your goals. Stephen also emphasises giving value to society first, listen in for stories on how Stephen has done this. KEY TAKEAWAYS Learning in a traditional educational system was a struggle since he has dyslexia. So, it was outside the classrooms he learned most. He has tried being a car mechanic, a stone carver among other things. Though he has tried so many different jobs, it is in financial services he’s most comfortable. After trying many jobs, he explored real estate investing. This is where he fully developed his financial and managing skills. And when the recession happened, he had to make tough decisions regarding his properties. He made a plan. He sold them first, then bought them back as soon as the market went stable. How does Stephen build an unstoppable mindset? He says to be happy every single day. When you realise what you have on your hands, and what you can do for other people, that’s a start already. For Stephen, ‘fire in the belly’ means living your life. Be confident and believe in yourself. When you listen to what other people say, it may become stressful. You won’t impress everyone. Start doing things at your own pace and your standards. Just know that when you put value out there, there’s at least one person you will influence. It is when you’re at you’re lowest; you get humbled, and become the authentic ‘you’. He has never felt more appreciative of others and their contribution to his life and society during hard times. Stephen wants to remind you that everything happens for a reason, and your social circle (family, friends, etc.) will always be there to help. BEST MOMENTS “I love meeting new people; I love helping people and seeing the good in everybody.” “If you trust yourself and do what’s right from you, I think that is where it comes from… People make decisions from a legal point of view.” “People have to reinvent themselves. People can get stuck in a job for the rest of their life and never take a chance on anything.” “10,000 a month may be enough for one person, for a year or a lifetime. Or it may be not enough for you. But you need to think what’s right for you.” “I don’t need anyone to see what I do as long as I know what I do.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in iTunes (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 16E16: From Hangover to Handstand Paul Berry Interview

No 9-5 work shift. No Being bossed around by someone else. No wasted time. Freedom and self-expression are very important to Paul Berry, an expert in gardening and the owner of Paul Berry Gardens. Today on the Fire in The Belly Podcast, Pete, your host, and Paul talks everything you need to know on how to catapult your way to entrepreneurship. Yes, you can be your own boss, just like Paul. Paul developed his entrepreneurial skills as soon as he got out of college. He was hungry for success, for his future empire. He built his property portfolio and then started his own ground maintenance company. Learn more about the importance of passion, empathy, gratitude, patience, and resilience in this episode. KEY TAKEAWAYS Being at school, being told to do something, never really sat well with Paul. He wanted to be an entrepreneur, his own boss, even at that young age. He entered university, but couldn’t wait anymore and left. Having a degree is the best option; no mistake in that. He just decided he personally would learn more in the outside world. Paul didn’t have any idea where to start. But had this unsettling feeling, a powerful urge to get out and chase what’s meant for him. He had big ambitions for himself and no one was going to stop him. His property portfolio was doing well until the worst came, which was around the year 2011. He had to give up some properties. That was hard for him since nobody enjoys having to fail. He had terrible fits of anxiety. But little by little, he started to rebuild. No man is an island. Success can be achieved effectively with the help of others. Admit it. Empathy and compassion can go a long way. No one should be blamed when things hit the fan. And more so, people should be credited when they do a wonderful job. Paul is always on the journey to improve and better himself. It’s important that you continue persevering—that fire in the belly. Look for ways on how available resources can help you. For Paul, attending therapy sessions helped him. He also continues learning—reading books, listening to mentors, etc. BEST MOMENTS “The entire system of having to grade someone at an early age…it’s just puts pressure on all angles. For me, it’s just a negative.” “I have this opinion of myself that I’ll be a millionaire by 30. That drove me—that thought process.” “I feel I’m properly living now. I have no fear anymore. I’m not scared of success now.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Fire In The Belly Podcast in iTunes (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 15E15: Personal Development – with Hugh Hegarty

Hugh Hegarty is a business mentor and coach. He’s trained in NLP, or the neuro-linguistic programming, which helps his clients with their personal development, get over issues like trauma, phobias, or depression. And today on the Fire in The Belly Podcast, Hugh discusses more on NLP, personal development, focused mindset, and importance of communication above other topics. He also shares some personal stories from his childhood which influenced his values. Just like him, he wants other people to tap on their unlimited resources, to believe in themselves, and to move today to achieve their goals. KEY TAKEAWAYS Our mothers are the real MVPs. Hugh looks back on how her mother took care of her when he was a child and how she inspired her to be the person he is right now. This also inspires him to be the best dad to his two beautiful kids. Hugh doesn’t let any negativity, or inconveniences affect him for a long time. It can depress him, but he sees he makes changes every single day. He wants to better himself for himself and his family. Educate them—that’s one way that you can help people. To incite change within themselves, and to make them see the possibilities. Hugh also adds that reinforcing information, and repetition can be enormous factors in learning. Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), which was started by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, is an excellent method in communication and personal development. Hugh trained for this to know how one can achieve balance within and make impactful changes. For those who are dealing with issues or who have limiting beliefs, NLP can greatly help. It’s a faster approach that involves hypnotherapy. Business mentoring or taking courses might be pricey for some. But they’re valued for a reason. You want to invest in yourself. Putting out money won’t be put to waste. Minor tasks for big changes. It might be difficult to notice improvements daily, but know that they are there. Hugh encourages you to do little by little, step by step. Don’t delay your success. Ep 14E14: Know your Core Beliefs – Andrew Dobbin

Andrew Dobbins is the owner of the Business Mindset. As a business mentor and a Mastermind Facilitator, he has helped individuals and companies grow their businesses. In today’s episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete talks to Andrew about his journey in long-life learning and mentoring. Andrew emphasises that his core beliefs have helped him a lot in achieving more than he could ever imagine in life right now. Him applying his Christian teachings and him burying his face in books every single time he gets has helped him better himself too. Andrew wants people to know that there are other things that are more important than money. Value the surrounding people, value what’s important to you. Tune in now to know more. KEY TAKEAWAYS It’s important that you know yourself. It’s easier to behave and act around when you know your core value and beliefs. For Andrew, his faith is what he keeps close to his heart. He’s a Christian, and he attributes all his success to it. Continue learning. Andrew wasn’t a big reader while he was growing up—no fairy tales, no science fiction. Then he saw the benefits in reading. He kept reading and learning primarily for self-development and business. Andrew loves the glory of having to help individuals, and companies grow themselves. Seeing that he made a difference drives him to be create more impact for more people. Most are not happy with their jobs because there is no freedom. They don’t control their time and/or they can’t speak their minds. Not that entrepreneurs have control over everything. But they can do things differently. They are their own bosses. In coaching, they won’t tell you what to do, you find out things yourself. In mentoring, the mentor works alongside the client. Wealth is not money. When you define wealth as something that can help you better yourself. It’s not just about the prosperity of money. There should also be prosperity in other aspects of your life. Andrew tries to make everything perfect. No mistakes. If there is something to be improved, even a small thing, continue tweaking until you get to near perfect, if not perfect. Respect people who you’re in business with. There should be no discrimination, so you can provide quality services to everyone. It’s unpredictable what happens in the UK market. So as much as possible, be prepared on whatever happens. Check your streams of income. Plan so you or your business stay afloat any unforeseen circumstance. BEST MOMENTS “I wasn’t about the money. It was the achievement. Making something better made a difference.” “I think a lot of people has passion for things.” “People go the extra mile not because they have to, it’s because they want to.” “Events happen but it’s how you respond to them that matters.” “Never give up, keep learning.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Fire In The Belly Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061 Andrew Dobbin LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/andrewdobbin/ The Business Mindset Twitter - https://twitter.com/andrewdobbin The Business Mindset Official Website - https://thebusinessmindset.co.uk/ ABOUT THE HOST The ‘Mighty Pete Lonton’ from the ‘Mighty 247’ company is your main host of ‘Fire In The Belly’. Ep 12E12: Passion And Purpose – with Jordan Wright

Jordan Wright is a breakthrough and transformational coach, specialising in helping people push through the boundaries and barriers that hold them back in life, with a particular focus on helping those in business who may find themselves at a plateau, and who wish to elevate further. To Jordan, “Fire In The Belly” represents the passion and purpose that have driven him from a childhood clouded by a lack of self-belief and disillusionment, to become a world-class empowerment coach, whose clarity of mind has helped countless others to buck the trend and change their lives. In today’s show, Jordan talks candidly about the inner fire that fuels this passion and purpose. KEY TAKEAWAYS Everyone has a fire inside them, but social conditioning sees to it that we always feel reticent to chase it. Certainly this lack of belief is the fuel that pushed Jordan forwards. During his adolescence he felt invisible and had no confidence. Realisation hit Jordan like a lightning bolt, when he realised that he was almost two decades into his life, and had achieved nothing. Feeling that he was different from the others, he decided to buck the trend of live-work-die. Whenever you suffer bullying or oppression in life, you develop a barrier, or an armour, self-imposed to help you deal with attack. University didn’t speak to Jordan’s soul. What was the sense in putting himself in debt, so that he could perhaps earn money in the future? Preferring instead to gain his experience in the real world, he followed his instincts. Security was of paramount concern early in Jordan’s life. During his youth, financial security was a value that was impressed upon him by his parents. This led to a desire to be financially free. Jordan is not afraid to admit that during a particularly anxious crossroads in his life, he chose to retract his bid for financial freedom in order to provide security for his family. When he finally took the leap, he knew, instinctively, that he had made the right decision, as the sense of relief was overwhelming. Everything happens for a reason. Even the bad things that pop up can steer us towards revelations in our own perception that can cause us to take decisive actions. Most people will trade their time for money, but what they’re actually doing is trading parts of their life for money. Remember that it’s not time you’re selling, it’s life. You’re selling missed opportunities, moments with your loved ones and days you’ll never see again. How much is your life worth? Entrepreneurship can be a lonely game, We often spend long periods feeling guarded, as though everyone is out to get us. It’s a totally different mentality to those who choose to work and follow society’s expected route. Being an entrepreneur separates you entirely. Don’t wait for permission to take the leap towards your goals. Don’t wait for the time “to be right”, because it’ll never truly be right. People don't credit themselves enough for their achievements. We need to take a step back sometimes and marvel at how far we’ve come, as well as the good we’ve put into the world. There’s a growing sector of people who believe they have the ability to teach others how to achieve success, but it takes a special mentor to help you achieve lasting change. Jordan’s fire-in-the-belly comes from his desire to disrupt the personal development space and provide true change in people’s lives. There are two types of belief: outcome-based and identity-based. “I can’t do that” doesn’t mean that they can’t do it, it just means that they don’t know how to do it. To say that “I am not good enough to do this” is an identity-based belief based upon who they perceive themselves to be. Don’t care about what people think. Be authentic. You can’t love anyone else if you don't love yourself, because the fears you internalise will display themselves externally. Suppressing our true selves, and holding down the way we feel is a form of suppression. Depression is an extension of suppression, and can compound as a result. Opening up to people from an early age, and being encouraged to do that as part of growing into a healthy human being, is a vital step in everyone’s life-cycle. BEST MOMENTS ‘All business problems are personal problems’ ‘I essentially reinvented myself over the years’ ‘Why do we try so hard to fit in, when we’re born to stand out?’ ‘I was more driven by pain than pleasure’ ‘I felt like I was drifting in life. I didn’t know that we were meant for something more’ ‘I must start before I am ready’ ‘We both have an affinity with fire here, don’t we?’ ‘People are pushing against obstacles. That’s why they’re tired’ ’There’s no failure. There’s only feedback’ ‘Depression comes from suppression’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Fire In The Belly Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061 The Ignite Podcast - https://jordanwright.libsyn.com Jordan Wright LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/jordan-wright-8781a018a/?originalSubdomain=uk Jordan Wright

Ep 11E11: Changing Your Life For The Better - with Seamus Fox

Seamus Fox’s business journey began during his days as a personal trainer. Since then he’s gone on to become one of the country’s most respected business consultants, regularly being called in to guide gym owners and other personal trainers in every aspect of this specialist industry. Seamus’ success has all been self-motivated. It’s a tale that began during a dark period in his life, and which has brought him to the top through a combination of hard work and self-empowerment. By finding his “why”, Seamus has driven himself ever forward, using the fire in his belly as rocket-fuel to take him higher. Hear how he did it in this week’s inspiring episode of Fire In The Belly. KEY TAKEAWAYS Nothing is plain sailing all the time. there are always hiccups and obstacles in the road. By finding your “why”, and keeping the fires inside you stoked, you can re-focus during these darker times. Seamus hit rock bottom in 2003, and found himself unhappy and unfulfilled with his life. The desire to implement change came internally, and has driven him ever since. Through early job experience, Seamus always felt that something was missing. He eventually identified this missing element as creativity, or rather the lack of it in the jobs he was doing. At time he felt like a robot. This gave him the desire to find something he could apply himself to in a creative way. Seamus’ newfound craving for personal development extended not to just mental progress, but physical. By focussing on his health, Seamus finally discovered the place in life that he’d been searching for. During his most rapid business growth period, Seamus began to notice that he was becoming farmore aware of his thought process, and how his mind-set was affecting outcomes in his career. A planned move to create franchises of his extremely popular Fighting Fit business did not pan out. This coupled with a personal calamity, almost drove Seamus into despair. But having experienced success, he determined to build himself up again using the same mental strength that he’d used to found his brand. Fighting Fit was rebranded, and revolutionised completely, focussing instead on highly personalised physical development instead of class-sized sessions. The tactic worked, and Fighting Fit saw a new burst of success that continues to this day. A coach is a vital part of being in business. It makes you accountable to someone, and also gives you someone to turn to when the going gets tough. You can create any kind of life for yourself, and pull yourself back from the brink of failure. All you need is the drive to keep going, and the will to succeed. BEST MOMENTS ‘For me it’s about motivation. It’s about my “why”' ‘Change happens through inspiration or desperation' ‘I’ve always had a drive to improve myself’ ‘At the time I thought it was their fault. Looking back, I can see it was mine’ ‘It’s grown into something much bigger’ ‘If you’re at a point where you’re happy and content with life, then brilliant!' Ep 10E10: Being In The Moment - with Alan Wallace

Alan Wallace is as driven as they come. A self-made marketing and sales expert, who’s driven by his purpose: to inspire and motivate, to grow and develop each day, and to live to serve. Alan has fought his way back from serious illness to take control of his life, harnessing the fire in his belly to develop and grow as a human being, and to be the best version of himself he can possibly be. In this week’s show, Alan talks about his incredible journey. KEY TAKEAWAYS One of the greatest realisations for Alan was that “now” is what matters. It’s all very well to plan ahead, but not as the cost of the present. Always aim higher than the target you wish to hit. You may fail, but you will be far nearer to your target than you could possibly have dreamed. At 19, Alan took a serious interest in personal development. He seemed to have a fear of life itself, and thinks that this may have come through the lack of expectations of himself. It took time to find his place in the world. Making a sale is one of the biggest thrills in the world. Convincing someone to accept something you’re offering is a test of your skill and your resilience. During a serious illness, which robbed Alan of several years of his life, he chose to use this forced downtime to develop and grow as a human being, and applied himself to studying. Even when you have nothing in life, there’s a place of real joy. Alan is not scared to lose as he’s already been at the bottom, and used his time there to become a better version of himself. Personal development seminars and events are all very well, but they can’t be the most exciting thing in your life. Your life should be the most important thing. Get out there and live it. Some people are far too hard on themselves. It’s so crucial to forgive ourselves for the things we do or don’t do. Many of our judgments come from perceptions of what people want us to be. If you inspire someone, then you have the power to light them up. If you can impact someone in a positive way, you can cause a sea-change within them that can spark an entirely new journey. Don’t settle and don’t relax. There’s another adventure out there waiting for you. There are always more people to meet and inspire. BEST MOMENTS ‘I’m hooked on it!’ ‘I’m just passionate about living life’ ‘Who are you going to motivate today?’ ’That thing that cut me down really grew me as a person’ ‘It’s freedom that attracts people’ ‘I love meeting people who have fire in the belly, because they’re infectious' VALUABLE RESOURCES Fire In The Belly Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061 ABOUT THE HOST The ‘Mighty Pete Lonton’ from the ‘Mighty 247’ company is your main host of ‘Fire In The Belly’. Ep 9E9: Unlocking Disruptive Secrets To Success – with Michael Colhoun

As one of the founders of the Transforming People Academy, which specialises in accelerated learning, coaching and personal development, Michael Colhoun knows all about what it means to harness the fire in your belly, and turn that passion into something positive. Michael joins Pete on this week’s show to discuss the challenges he faces in bringing about this positive change to a society very much set in its ways, the ways in which yoga has improved his connection between mind and body, how to turn negatives into positives, and how he built his journey upon discovering the secret that makes things work better for everyone. KEY TAKEAWAYS Especially in Northern Ireland, there seems to be a growing need for some way to help people see past the blocks and barricades that may be keeping their desire for personal growth. Michael and his academy are at the forefront of bringing those barriers down. If you can understand the methods and strategies that enabled someone to achieve success in their life, then you should be able to emulate that formula in order to find success for yourself. Yoga gave Michael the capability to tap into hitherto undisturbed forces within himself, in order to release energy that restored his flow-status. If you’re doing a certain thing throughout your life, and you’re good at it, but not necessarily successful as a result of it, it can be difficult to pull yourself away from that “safety zone” We are responsible for the results we attain. We’re responsible for the choices we make. We’re also responsible for whether we feel good or bad. Each negative can be turned into a positive. We need to have a resilient internal voice in order to do so. It can be so easy to blame external forces for our sense of inadequacy, or our failures. The reality is that those feelings are just triggers for lessons you haven’t learned yet. Despite a hugely successful career in IT, Michael recognised that his future was in development, due to his experiences with NLP and the benefits that it can bring. This caused shock to those who knew him, but instinctually he knew that his choice was sound. One of the greatest pieces of education came through working alongside successful people with complex problems, and solving those problems on their behalf. Most of these issues stemmed from miscommunication, and through his NLP experience, Michael was able to make himself invaluable. Problem solving for Michael comes through not just getting from Point A to Point B, but understanding the wider issues that caused the problem, and the satellite issues that circle it. by gaining a depth of understanding, he can not only solve Point B, but Point C if asked. Michael gets direct feedback from teaching when he understands something so well, that his teachings provide “A-ha” moments from his students. By being able to communicate teachings in that spirit, we are truly mastering our subject. It’s as crucial to prepare your environment for your flow state as it is to be in the flow state itself. “Yak Shaving” is the process by where we do away with the things that will prevent this flow state from occurring, or can distract us once we’re there BEST MOMENTS ‘If one person can do it, then anyone can do it’ ‘I had a choice whether to feel good, or feel like a victim’ ‘If you’re going to feel bad, then you might as well schedule it’ ‘A big part of it is confidence and certainty’ ‘I call it “deep dive” learning’ ‘If you want to understand something, read it. Ep 8E8: Leaving A Lasting Legacy And Finding Your Why – with Gary Doherty

This week, Pete talks to Gary Doherty, the founder of THINK Network, whose mission is simple: to passionately spread positivity, motivation and inspiration through empowering networking events across Northern Ireland and beyond. Pete and Gary discuss Gary’s definition of what fire in the belly means to him, and crucially what it is to him, the power of networking and mentoring, and his inspiring journey from the very bottom, and the incredible ascent to where he is now. KEY TAKEAWAYS For Gary, “fire in the belly” is the why that drives him forward. It took a period of self-analysis for Gary to realise that his “why” is wanting to leave a legacy for his family; to make his children proud of who their father was. Through necessity, Gary found himself required to take a job in sales in a store, which was very far out of his comfort zone as his previous work had not been customer facing. Within two and half years he had overcome his nerves and was managing the store. The accumulation of wealth instilled a new sense of arrogance in Gary, and the desire for more materialistic goods. He admits now that this phase saw him become a dark version of himself. We should never become emotionally attached to bricks-and-mortar, even if it’s our own home. The true sum value of any home is the people in it. What sets people apart is the mindset, not the intellectual achievements of their lives. Their unique offerings lie in drive, determination, resilience and self-belief. After an insolvency, and the complete collapse of his business empire, Gary started anew. He began by gaining education, and put himself through university to earn a Bachelor’s degree in business, which gave him the confidence and drive to go further. THINK Network is being designed to be the Facebook of Personal Development, with an international reach and the power to truly change lives. In the past 14 months, it has seen incredible results in Northern Ireland, and now the plan is to take it to the global stage. Gary can see now that property was not the “why he was looking for. His current work with THINK is truly fulfilling, and adds fire to his belly each and every day. People are far too afraid to praise others these days, as they see it as some kind of elevation above themselves. Gary is a proponent of honesty, and credit where it’s due. BEST MOMENTS ‘I’m a father now. I’m a husband now. What am I going to do?’ ‘I was young and dumb. I knew nothing about property’ ‘I had become a not-very-nice version of myself’ ‘When I look back, that was a defining moment’ ‘I’ll get to the end, even if I’m last’ ’Time and hard work and opportunity equals luck’ ’This is the vehicle to get to my “why”’ ’Success is the journey that I’m on right now' VALUABLE RESOURCES THINK Network Twitter - https://twitter.com/thinknetwork1?lang=en THINK Network - http://thinknetwork.co THINK Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/think.network/ THINK LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/groups/8725794 THINK Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/thinknetworkni/ ABOUT THE HOSTThe ‘Mighty Pete Lonton’ from the ‘Mighty 247’ company is your main host of ‘Fire In The Belly’. Ep 6E6: You Can Have Anything You Want – with Pat Slattery

Pete Lonton is joined by international speaker, coach and mentor, Pat Slattery, a man who’s spent over twenty years helping people to live their dreams and realise their potential. It’s a pursuit that continues to fascinate Pat, and one he’s devoted himself to entirely. In this special conversation, Pat describes the motivations behind his mission, the reasons for the fire in his belly, the dangers of conformity, and the formula for life and living that he uses himself, and which he is on a mission to share with the world. KEY TAKEAWAYS There are many people out there following their dreams and goals, and killing themselves on the treadmills of life in order to do so. Pat has come to realise that family, friends, relationships and joy are the things we should never take for granted. If you put quality time into your life for living, then you’ll have a quantity of time to enjoy it. It’s a formula Pat uses himself, and a core principle of his teachings. Most are people-pleasers. Most people are conformists. The greatest enemy of man is conformity, as it dictates the patterns of our days and lives. People need to realise where they’re at. It’s easy to go with the crowd. We need to question everything. it’s the disruptors who make a difference. We’re not born into the world with negativity. From the moment we’re born, we’re growing. We feel the energy immediately when we do something right, but similarly, we are gently conditioned to conform through behavioural patterns. Success isn’t about intellectual intelligence. It’s about expanding your mind through meeting people are learning about what’s possible. There’s far too much focus on failure. We think too much about what could go wrong. We need to look for the phenomenal in each person. What are we capable of if we put our minds to it? Dig deep and look inside for your better qualities; for your proudest moments. Celebrate your wins at every opportunity. Listen with intent instead of listening with the aim of responding. When someone wants to share with you, make sure you are fully committed to hearing what they’re saying. Many people are chasing money, and so this is mostly seen as the motivating factor behind people’s lives. but money is simply the means to a better life, and happiness, which are the true aims in people’s lives. Ep 5E5: The Want And Need For More In Life – with Khadija Kalifa

Pete talks to BBC’s The Apprentice finalist, Khadija Kalifa, who has, since leaving the show in 2018, gone on to become one of the nation’s most sought-after business coaches, due to her no-nonsense approach and wealth of experience. Khadija talks about the importance of self-development, the axiom that causes her to seize each day, the importance of optimism, and her empowering definition of what it means to have “fire in the belly”. KEY TAKEAWAYS For Khadija, the want and need for more to life, is the fuel that keeps her growing and moving on. All good entrepreneurs have an unquenchable desire to keep succeeding. You only have one life. If you are presented with opportunities, then you need to try to make the best of them. Count your blessings and realise that you’re not here forever. Seize the day. Success in her youth had a converse effect on Khadija. Even though she worked hard and achieved much, she was often looked down upon because of her age. it’s a common, and somewhat unfortunate occurrence. People often mistake optimism with naivety. But the ability to see past the negative, to look for the positive in all things, is a rare and valuable asset. Having fire in your belly and doing nothing with it is futile. You need to get up, get out there, and let that fire burn bright. Khadija used her energy to hustle, and to make her mark on the world. Children made Khadija realise that there are definitely things to feel blessed about. It has given her a different perspective on materialism, frustration, and life in general. Money means stability for Khadija and her family. Money is equal to the security and happiness of those closest to her. This is the reason that drives her forward. Following The Apprentice, Khadija was given the opportunity to evaluate her life and her business. The opportunities that came her way in the wake of her appearance allowed her to see that her cleaning business was not her destiny. Personal relationships are an incredibly important part of business, as they are a vital component in your happiness, and subsequent desire to achieve. Khadija has had to face monstrous egos and an incredible level of chauvinism during her journey. The key is to stay humble, and to use that negative force as a means to drive yourself harder. Procrastination prevents things from getting done. It’s far more expedient to get things done as soon as possible. Ask questions. Take action. Stop making excuses. Enjoy the journey. We must make sure that we stop to enjoy the life we’re living. It’s good for not just ourselves, but the ones we love. BEST MOMENTS ‘A bit of meat to the bone (even though I’m a pescatarian…)’ ‘I’m working hard because I like to play hard’ ‘I think I thought I knew everything’ ’Nothing you can do will ever stop me from living my best life’ ‘I feel like this wasn’t the life I was destined to be in’ ’There’s surviving and then there’s thriving’ ’Stay humble’ ‘I want to make shit happen’ ’There’s so much to be grateful for in life' VALUABLE RESOURCES https://www.keepitrealwithkhadija.com Keep It Real With Khadija Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/keep-it-real-with-khadija/playlists/podcast ABOUT THE HOSTThe ‘Mighty Pete Lonton’ from the ‘Mighty 247’ company is your main host of ‘Fire In The Belly’. Ep 4E4: Thoughts Turn Into Things – with Kim Calvert

This week, Pete talks to high-performance mentor, Kim Calvert, the co-founder of Dynamite Lifestyle, and a member of the Proctor Gallagher Institute Circle Of Excellence. As Proctor’s Number One Consultant, globally, Kim has devoted herself to helping people become unstuck; to move away from where they are, and get to where they want to be, through looking at the root cause of results, and harnessing the power of the mind. In this truly inspiring episode, Kim discusses the factors that make us all unique, the ways in which we can control the driving force we’re born with, and her personal definition of what it means to have “fire in the belly” KEY TAKEAWAYS To Kim, “fire in the belly” means the burning desire that drives you onwards to do better. To be better. That drive to be more, want more, to have more. We’re all born with our own form of burning desire. It’s our responsibility to make ourselves aware of how it manifests itself, and to channel it into achieving our full potential. We’re all born the same. it is the sum total of our life experiences, that begin from day one, that turn our lives into an experience. It is the never-ending variation of pathways that make us unique. How we use our inner energy is dictated often by our environment, unless we use our minds as an overriding force to control it. If we sleepwalk through life, we will follow the formula of work-live-die. Without using our minds to take control, our path will be drawn out for us. Being brought up in a religious home, there were parts of her upbringing that Kim didn’t agree with, but it did instil a sense of faith itself within her. She now describes herself as non-religious but spiritual. Kim felt as though she never gained anything from formal education, and several of her educational issues were not flagged or addressed. Like many entrepreneurs, her success has been built upon her attitude rather than her grades. Kim’s main focus is to help people bridge that divide between the person we present to the world, and the person we truly are inside. There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are shown the person we really are. Feelings, emotions and vibrations are all the same thing. They are the same energy; the energy that drives us to take action. A need is something that’s generally associated with a negative thought. A want is something we aspire to, and therefore a positive. Leadership built upon a vision that no one else really gets or understands, is the basic building block upon which successful businesses are founded. People think the question of “what do I want?” is limited. They tend to overcomplicate it by adding these limitations. You must give yourself permission to dream bigger. Your passion or purpose will always try to get your attention in life, and steer you towards the right path. It’s when we choose to listen to that voice that we start to feel fulfilled. You have to learn to control your energy. When you learn to be grateful for what you’ve achieved, and when you learn to be present in each moment, your energy will even out. All the answers are already before you. If the questions are there, then so are the answers. Get a mentor, one who has demonstrated results, listen to what they say, and take action. BEST MOMENTS ‘Desire is a trigger mechanism to all action’ ‘Everybody’s on this planet for a purpose’ ‘We’re born with infinite ability’ ‘It clicked. The fire in the belly was roaring’ ‘It’s a journey. It’s a process. There will be ups and there will be downs’ ‘You should never need anything. You should want stuff’ ‘If you can see it, you can achieve it’ ‘Your passion, your purpose, will always try to poke you’ ‘We all have a built in thermometer, and it dictates the temperature of every moment in life’ ‘Make decisions fast and change them slowly' VALUABLE RESOURCES Kim Calvert LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/kim-calvert-114385100/?originalSubdomain=uk Dynamite Lifestyle - https://dynamitelifestyle.com/meet-kim-calvert [email protected] ABOUT THE GUEST Kim is the CEO and Founder of Dynamite Lifestyle Ltd. Ep 3E3: The Truth of The Investment – with Mark Homer

Everyone has a passion or a belief; something that drives them to be who they are. It’s a concept known as ‘Fire In The Belly’, explored further by Pete Lonton this week, when he discusses the driving forces behind the success of his special guest, Mark Homer. Mark is the co-founder of Progressive Property, the host of the Mark My Words podcast, and one of the UK’s most respected and successful property investment entrepreneurs. In this episode, Mark explains what “fire in the belly” means to him, as well as the purpose behind his mantra: “Focus like a laser on one thing, and become the best at it" KEY TAKEAWAYS You need to invest in things you understand, and in which you can, to some extent control. Mark sees far too many get-rich-quick schemes that promise much, but deliver little. Each opportunity contains a truth at its centre. It’s about find that truth and deciding if it’s a fit for you. Mark was trained at an early age to always play the long game. Saving was a big part of his childhood, and delayed gratification was a value instilled into him by his frugal father. Patience is a quality that has served him well. Networking with the right people allows Mark to constantly learn and grow. By providing value to the people around him, and by drawing value for them, Mark is perpetually developing. Investment is largely based around logic. Many of Mark’s successes have been built upon his instinctual talent with numbers, and his highly efficient systems based on data. Logic sometimes has to take a backseat though. there are times when Mark calls upon his gut instincts to make decisions. But as he explains, these feelings are always based upon experience, which in itself, is a logical choice. Hard work and self-sufficiency are the main values that Mark is hoping to instil into his own children. The greatest gift anyone can be given is self-reliance. You can develop yourself if you apply yourself. Baby steps that take you forward, and playing the long game with patience, are essential components for success, development and happiness. You’re often best-off doing what you know. For Mark and his business partner, Rob Moore, the founding of Progressive property has allowed them to see where they belong, and has made them recognise that the skills and talents they possess are best suited to the company they have founded. Stagnation is always a business-killer. Look for the opportunities to grow, even in the smallest areas. Be the best you can possibly be. Ego drives Mark to a certain extent. Pride should be taken in achievement, and it should also be used as a barometer for future opportunities. BEST MOMENTS ‘I love finding the truth of an investment’ ‘I don’t like being frivolous. It makes me feel sick’ ‘People like that are inspiring’ ‘Gut feeling is the distillation of all the things you’ve learned over the years’ ‘If you buy into that then you’re not going to be successful’ ‘Words are only so effective’ ‘You’ve got to keep it fresh’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Mark Homer LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/markhomer1/?originalSubdomain=uk Mark My Words - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/mark-my-words-podcast/id1165370399 Mark Homer Twitter - https://twitter.com/markprogressive?lang=en ABOUT THE HOSTThe ‘Mighty Pete Lonton’ from the ‘Mighty 247’ company is your main host of ‘Fire In The Belly’. Ep 2E2: Passion. Purpose. Progress – with Rob Moore

Fire In The Belly is a new podcast by Pete Lonton, a groundbreaking series of in-depth interviews with an array of guests who have built their success upon their innate ability to drive themselves hard when it matters. In this episode, Pete talks to The Disruptive Entrepreneur himself, Rob Moore, a best-selling author, public speaker, entrepreneur and world-record holder, about what “fire in the belly” means to him. With a proven track record of success, and having helped over 100,000 entrepreneurs to achieve the same, Rob is the perfect example of a fighter who never quits; a man who has overcome pain, frustration and setbacks, to found a staggering empire built upon hard work and resilience. KEY TAKEAWAYS For Rob, the concept of “fire in the belly” means a combination of things. To grow, learn, and to reach that higher level, Rob has developed an endless source of enthusiasm and passion for what he does, built upon a journey that has seen him overcome many obstacles. Between the ages of 8 - 11, Rob found himself bullied due to being overweight. These were formative years, in which many would have found themselves subdued by such treatment. Rob chose to react by losing the weight in order to regain self-confidence, displaying the kind of resilient attitude early-on, that has taken him to success in the business world. Many of our values are driven by our voids and our pain, as well as our desire to do better. An often heard phrase among the wealthy is that it’s “not about the money”. But it was at one point in their past. Success is all contextual. Compared to when he began, Rob is incredibly successful, but there is always work to do. The more you learn about yourself, the more you will understand the journey ahead of you. Engaging with criticism can sometimes be useful. Take a step back and see if the comment has any value. Do you respect their voice? Are they trying to add value? You have to balance experience with an open-minded view of life. Life is full of surprises, and expectations can be overturned at any point. Don’t ever judge the present based on the past, as each moment is unique. Rob’s thought process is built around "Think. Decide. Act. Review”. Thoughts begin as a primal feeling, and must go through several filters that come with experience, development and understanding. Rob's rebellious nature has led to some remarkable experimentation in his business life, and has led to his “Disruptive Entrepeneur” philosophy. Many choose to emulate the successful, but for Rob, this has never been enough. The concepts of value and fair exchange are the biggest areas in which Rob has achieved success. Value is understanding what people want and giving it to them. Fair exchange is the relationship between value and price. You can love what you do, but there will always be parts of that thing that you don’t enjoy as much. For Rob, the realisation of this was important. Sometimes success and discipline are about doing the things you don’t enjoy doing, when they need to be done. The next level of mastery for Rob, is to see if he can deliver an entire speech unprepared; to truly live in the moment, and to see what comes through him. If you don’t risk everything, you risk nothing. How do you grow if you don’t try things? The greatest gift Rob has given to himself is the realisation that he can be what he wants to be. It is the ability to tell himself that he can grow if he wants to. BEST MOMENTS ‘Fire in the belly: that says to me hunger, passion, desire!’ ‘Voids create values’ ‘I am both equally more satisfied with who I am, and hungry to become more’ ’The eye can’t see itself’ ’Never wrestle with a pig’ ‘Analysing yourself is the curse, and the gift, of personal development’ ‘Maximum human growth is on the border of support and challenge’ ‘It’s un-learning, as well as learning’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Rob Moore - https://robmoore.com The Disruptive Entrepreneur - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-disruptive-entrepreneur/id1076679649?mt=2 Rob Moore Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/robmooreprogressive/ Rob Moore YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLtKal0qTf3klDUr7JS_L9Q ABOUT THE HOST The ‘Mighty Pete Lonton’ from the ‘Mighty 247’ company is your main host of ‘Fire In The Belly’. Ep 7E7: Fire Meets Speed! The Speed Mentor; Gavan Wall

Welcome back to Fire in The Belly! In todays episode, Pete goes on a deep dive with the one and only Speed Mentor Gavan Wall! Listen in as Gavan shares lessons learned from his own entrepreneurial journey, talks us through his childhood, school years, career and what lead him to where he is today. Tune in to hear advice and insights that can help you in business and in life. Gavan Wall talks us through his transition from law to property to his new project of venture capitals as well as talking us through some of his personal struggles with the economic crash in 2007 and how he took himself from losing everything to being the success he is today. Q. Tell us a bit about yourself. I’m from Belfast, Northern Ireland with a background in law, I then went into business about 12 years ago and ever since then I have been working at trading businesses and mentoring hundreds of other business people across Northern Ireland trying to bring my blend of high energy and go-getting. I have a number of businesses employing over 130 people and the latest project is in venture capital. I am raising a ten million pound fund at the minute and we’re looking to turn that into ten billion pounds over ten years. Q. Did learning come easy for you? A. I am probably a quick learner, but I get bored very easily. I actually look back and wonder if I was afraid to pit myself against the top members of the class. Those guys were machines and they were working really hard from day one. I remember on day one we came in and we had to write an essay, and mine was the best in the class, and that was a high point of my education. Whether I thought that I couldn’t keep up with them, I loved to be able to say I was the best at doing no work but still getting the exams. I was definitely the best at that. Q. Do you think the writing was on the wall from the beginning? A. I was working at various things, I was full time in the civil service and ultimately I realised I was different from everybody else there. About 20% of the people there carried the other 80%, but everybody complained about hating their jobs. All these changes were coming and I was really excited and nobody else was and at that moment I wanted to leave, what they were looking to get out of like was not what I was looking to get out of life. Q. Whilst you were working in law did you still continue your side hustles? I was up to 50 houses, what happened was in 2006, I had gone from double-digit yields to getting outbid all the time by people who had never been in property before and I could not face giving up the business side. My mistake was saying, I need to get into the chain earlier, to feed properties to these people so I bought four bits of land and I got my planning through but I made a few mistakes, signed personal guarantee and 14-day demand loans. My wife somehow ended up as a guarantor on one of them! That land lost 90% of its value and one of the local banks served me with a demand notice, so I then lost everything including my family home. Q. What would it mean, someone saying you’ve got something you shouldn’t have? I don’t really know, I’ve got something about it. My wife sometimes talks about doing the lottery, and I say to her “you can’t do that, what if we won?” because then that would ruin the whole thing, somebody would be able to say we had it easy. Whenever we used to drive to school in my Dad’s car, there were only two of these cars in Northern Ireland and in one way it was lovely and in another way it was too much. I want to be able to say, everything that I have created with the support of my wife and my family has been created by us rather than come from someone else. Q. What drives you day today? A. The goal is to have an impact worldwide, the goal is to be the most successful entrepreneur in Northern Ireland. What is success? Success is the ability to be able to make a difference to other people. I am not money-driven, I took my first ever holiday for ten days last year. When I was a barrister I used to go on nice expensive holidays and drive a Porsche, now I drive an electric car and I am happy with that. I don’t go on flash holidays or spend lots of money, the difference is being able to make a difference, the ability to say I have helped the ecosystem in Northern Ireland. I wasn't Northern Ireland to be backed like it was in the industrial revolution. I want to help Northern Ireland get back to that, and I want to have a massive funeral. I want to have made an impact on so many people and to have changed Northern Ireland for the better. Q. Do you see yourself retiring? A. No, I will die in the middle of a deal! The best deal ever. I was thinking about all the things I have done since I turned 45 for the first time, definitely not retiring no way. I’ve done a lot of heavy lifting, and I will tell you my theory and it was a moment of clarity “it is all about creating value, with the power of the mind”. That's true. The lifting that you do with your mind
