Ep 136E136: Why Aren't We Taught This? - Interview with Lisa McFarland
Today Pete speaks to Lisa McFarland, a life coach, wife and mother. When training to be a coach, Lisa learnt so much about herself, things like limiting beliefs, how to manage fear and anxiety, how to deal with stress and how it effects our bodies in unhealthy ways. This made her realise that we all need to have this knowledge, to know and understand these things. Why are we not taught them? This was the start of her journey into coaching. Listen in today to hear all about relationships, love, vulnerability and much more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Lisa was working in HR when it was suggested to her to do a life coaching course. She felt unsure but decided to give it a go and it changed her mindset, and her life, completely. Looking back, Lisa realised she was always interested in shows that helped people, that delved into their lives and psyche. She has also been an avid reader of self-help books and has always been fascinated by human nature. So, it now made sense why her and life coaching clicked. Fire in the belly to Lisa is ‘lighting up the passion that has always been inside’. You might not even realise what that is until later in life. We don’t get any education on relationships. It’s something we all have to do and is intertwined in all aspects of our lives but there is no education on it. There is also hardly anywhere to go for help without shame. Lisa’s passion for changing this is her fire in the belly. We argue and communicate the way we have seen and experienced it. We don’t educate ourselves in any other way. This is how we can get into cycles of the same behaviour and don’t ever try and improve. We often serve others in the way we like to be served. Issues can arise in romantic relationships when we don’t recognise that our partner has a different love language to us. Just finding out each other’s love language and then putting in the effort to use this can make a measurable difference to the health of our relationship. Relationships can be like a balloon and a string. If the balloon goes too wild it’s too much for the string. If the string holds too tight it deflates the balloon. It’s all about balance. People pleasing is when you do something to get the reward. So many of us people please, if we could stop we would become so much more authentic in ourselves. The more vulnerable we can be with our partners and with our children, the more freedom we give them to be vulnerable too. BEST MOMENTS “At the time, I didn’t know I had limiting beliefs about educating myself” “Everyone needs a friend, everyone needs an ear to listen to them” “To be seen is one of the most beautiful things…You feel seen, and it lights up something inside you” “We’ve all heard people say things to their partners that they would never say to their friends” “Why do they not teach us about this stuff!” “We call these automatic negative thoughts Shirley…You can name your automatic negative thoughts so we recognise our automatic negative thought…we just have to see them as what they are, they’re just a thought” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) www.justathought.uk ABOUT THE GUEST Lisa McFarland Founder of Relationship Coaching NI and a wife and mother to three almost grownup children. Ep 135E135: Everything Is A Miracle - Interview with Steven McGeown AKA Stevey J
Today Pete speaks to Steven McGeown, aka ‘Stevey J’, a mentor, entrepreneur and change-maker. His true passion in life is to help individuals change their life in all ways to give lasting and authentic fulfilment. Today they talk about business, charity, God and more! KEY TAKEAWAYS Fire in the belly to Stevey J is the ‘raising phoeneix rising out of the ashes’. Fire in the belly is his passion, passion is something he lives his life by. Stevey J believes there is a nurturing essence of love around us, it was him discovering this and God that lead to some big changes and shifts in his life. He then used this passion and transformation to help others. None of the things that Stevey J cherishes in life came logically or normally. He is always open to new ideas and experiences. It was this thinking that lead him to do his Epic journey of 100 Marathons in 100 consecutive days. This was the start of his passion for running. The charity work that Stevey J is involved in has given him a renewed passion and outlook on life. Sometimes it can feel like you are stuck in life or are struggling with something complex. Stevey J believes this is where prayer comes in. He asks for an answer and he gets it. We just have to allow ourselves to be shown the way and be given to. To what extent are you living? If you’re expressing 80% what about the other 20%? A question we all need to ask ourselves and discover how we can live to our full potential. People are more trapped then they have ever been. A large contribution is the use of mobile phones and social media, always showing us a world that doesn’t actually exist. BEST MOMENTS “I captured a vision, of a better future” “You can make a difference with something very little” “What do we really do by ourselves?” “There’s nothing that isn’t a miracle…life is magic” “If something is right and meant to be done then it’s going to feel right” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) ABOUT THE GUEST Steven McGeown - Expert Mentor Steveyj is an entrepreneur who at the age of 25 set up 13 health clubs nationwide and in 2003 was awarded as international franchisee out of 5000 businesses globally. Ep 134E134: Kez Wickham
Today Pete speaks to Kez Wickham St George, an author, mentor and artist. Kez is the driver of her own creativity and her passion is to inspire and nurture others to tell their stories. She has travelled extensively including the width and breath of Australia, collecting stories and experiences. KEY TAKEAWAYS On the road in Australia Kez has met lots of young families raising their children on the road. She believes it’s a truly unique and fun way of life for children. The world is different now, there are many people choosing to lead different lifestyles to the traditional way of living. Kez is a bit of a people watcher and listener. She is constantly taking mental notes from the people she sees and speaks to. Kez has been writing since she was a child and has had 10 books published over the past 12 years. An artist for many years, Kez started up a programme called Step Back, teaching people how to look after themselves, take that step back and do some art! The teaching of self-respect is so important. If you don’t respect yourself how can you respect others. Gaining respect for yourself is transformative to your entire life and it can be so easy to self-practice. Fire in the belly for Kez means passion, about what you do, who you connect with and the ‘whys’ of your life. Kez believes in fate. If it’s not meant to be it won’t happen. If you try and push the universe it pushes back, have belief in yourself, set goals in life and things will happen for you. BEST MOMENTS “Who made the rule that having a mortgage makes you happy” “They’re gorgeous people and they all have big hearts and they’re all got big stories” “The wiser you get, the less you say…when you’re younger you have an opinion about everything” “I have a fabulous life Pete” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) ABOUT THE GUEST Kez Wickham Author, Mentor and Artist. Ep 133E133: Find That Happy Place - Interview with Ollie Greene
Today Pete speaks to Ollie Greene, multiple business owner with passion for nutrition, health and fitness. A varied episode with unique conversation between Pete and Ollie. They talk about health, depression and even seaweed as well as many other topics. KEY TAKEAWAYS Fire in the belly to Ollie, is just life. Living and loving what he does every day is what gives him his fire. Ollie hasn’t always been as healthy as he is now. He used to drink and smoke quite a lot but he got to a stage where he decided to stop. He changed his life day by day. Happiness is out there for everyone. It’s different for every single one of us, you just have to look for it. We often look for a certain reason or cause for depression but sometimes it can be hereditary, a simple imbalance in the brain or even be down to lack of direction. Ollie finds that fitness and nutrition give him a purpose and an outlet and this is why they helped him with his own depression. He believes that depression is always there but it’s finding a way of managing it. Sometimes difficult things happen, but they have to so that the good things can happen after. Growing vegetables and cooking is a really important part of Ollie’s life. He gets so much out of the work he puts into both and has passed this onto his daughter. BEST MOMENTS “You just need to find that place where you’re happy…there’s somewhere out there for everyone you just have to go look for it” “I believe it’s always there but it’s finding a way of managing it for you” “Judging people can be an injustice to everyone, including yourself” “If you don’t take care of the weeds they take over” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) ABOUT THE GUEST Ollie Greene ABOUT THE HOST The ‘Mighty Pete Lonton’ from the ‘Mighty 247’ company is your main host of ‘Fire In The Belly’. Ep 132E132: Together We Are Better - Interview with Daniel Levin
Today Pete speaks to Daniel Levin, ‘a rare blend of mystic and business man whose ability to see the world differently has drawn people, companies and governments to invite him to work with them on innovation’. He shows people how to see the world differently. Listen in for inspiring and heart-warming stories and rejuvenate your perspective on life today. KEY TAKEAWAYS Daniel has experienced a different kind of life to many. He says this has allowed him to view and take part in the world differently to many other people. You have no idea what the power of your listening can do. You might never see the effects of it. But just because you don’t see or hear the impact of it that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have an immeasurable impact on those you listen to. It changes people. You have every right to be heard by others. Figure out why it is important for you to be heard. It’s not selfish to expect to be listened to. Fire in the belly to Daniel is something that is burning in the core of your soul and if we don’t listen to it than that fire will destroy us. The fire in the belly is the ‘wake-up call’. Hearing on its own without an action is not connection. When we realise that there is more than just the ‘self’, that the world is bigger than just ourselves, we can then recognise that we have a place in it and start to discover what that place is. BEST MOMENTS “People have been wondering where I’m coming from my whole life” “You may never get the direct feedback of what your listening has done but I promise you this; it will change people, it will help people” If you can’t understand the way they speak don’t give up there, look for a way you can understand” “I can melt this wall with my kindness” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) ABOUT THE GUEST Daniel Levin TOGETHER WE ARE BETTER www.DanielBruceLevin.com to buy THE MOSAIC: http://a.co/dvgsgG3 to listen to TheMosaicPodcast https://themosaic.libsyn.com/ ABOUT THE HOST The ‘Mighty Pete Lonton’ from the ‘Mighty 247’ company is your main host of ‘Fire In The Belly’. Ep 131E131: Ryan Carruthers
Today Pete speaks to Ryan Carruthers a digital entrepreneur based in Lincoln in the UK. Ryan helps people build, launch and scale their businesses. Ryan wakes up every morning happy and ready to take on the day, he knows he is doing what he is supposed to with his life! Listen in today for an inspiring and thought-provoking episode. KEY TAKEAWAYS Ryan is happy every single day, he is grateful for his amazing life. He knows he has the right formula for life when he wakes up singing each morning! Ryan was training to be a physiotherapist when he Dad became ill. Ryan then ran his Dad’s company for a couple of years and discovered how much he loved doing so. He also realised how much he loved being around and working with people. Fire in the belly to Ryan is that ‘internal motivation’. Recognising what it is you want to achieve and going for it. Your fire in the belly gives you an energy source, for both your bad days as well as the good ones. When we think of creativity we envisage painting, drawing or creating music, but solving complex problems is also creativity. You just need to have the curiosity to ask the right questions first. Challenging beliefs and showing different perspectives makes for incredible deep conversation and this is why Ryan loves people. Ryan is a sincere and authentic person. He knows who he is and what you see is what you get. There is such a thing as too much content. It can be overwhelming, this is a common mistake that creators of membership sites often make. Too many people put too much emphasis on whether people like them or not. Don’t let it bother you as it has no real impact on your life unless you let it. BEST MOMENTS “I’m usually singing or dancing around the house” “I always describe my life as a series of unfortunate events that lead to a series of very fortunate ones” “I make no apologies for the person I am” “By projecting ‘this is who I am’ and sharing those values, people will raise their hand and engage with you” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) ABOUT THE GUEST Ryan CarruthersDigital entrepreneur based in Lincoln in the [email protected] ABOUT THE HOST The ‘Mighty Pete Lonton’ from the ‘Mighty 247’ company is your main host of ‘Fire In The Belly’. Ep 130E130: Overcome Overwhelm - Interview with Ben Ivey
Today Pete speaks to Ben Ivey, a coach and speaker who works with ‘overwhelmed’ entrepreneurs to live a great lifestyle and reach business success. They talk about entrepreneurship, mindset, vulnerability and more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Overwhelm is different for everybody. It comes in a variety of different forms. For a lot of us it is down to technology and always being ‘switched on’. It’s easy for business owners to become overwhelmed when they are focusing on all the different areas of the business and not taking care of their own needs. For Ben, Fire in the Belly is what drives you when you get out of bed in the morning. Ben as a coach, focuses on what gives people long term benefit that is sustainable. As well as being inspiring on stage Ben always wanted to be humorous when speaking. It’s something he hasn’t completely mastered but already he is feeling the benefit of working it into his speaking. Ben had a very fortunate childhood but found it hard to connect with people as a young child. But when he became a teenager he felt he came into his own, particularly after his parents divorced and he took more ‘ownership’ of himself. Ben started entrepreneurship at an early age, he ran his first ‘business’ in school, selling confectionary from his locker! Part of Ben’s strength came from having to be strong for his family after the suicide of his father when he was in his early twenties. The best coaches in the world deliver what people want but they also give people what they really need. BEST MOMENTS “I’m not perfect, no one is, but the cool thing is I have a lot of tools that help keep me on track and stop me going into downwards spirals that I definitely did previously” “Why is it you do what you do, what are you passionate about? And what gets you through the tough times?” “I became a rock and emotionally hardened to that” “There are a lot of people in my life that have helped inspire me and have helped me become the man I am today” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) ABOUT THE GUEST Ben IveyCoach and Speaker based in the UK https://www.ben-ivey.com/overcome-overwhelm/#! Ep 129E129: Creativity and Innovation Are One Process - Interview with Michael Lee
Today Pete speaks to Michael Lee, a certified ‘master of creativity and innovation coaching’! Michael has been some form of trainer for most of his life, beginning in TV and film. Nowadays he coaches many clients in creativity, transformation, education and more. Listen in today to learn how the ability to be creative impacts all areas of our lives and how mindset can change the amount of joy and pleasure you feel daily. KEY TAKEAWAYS Creativity is the ability to think differently from yourself. Over time as we become adults we put ‘blocks’ in our way to creative thinking. We have to retrain and relearn things to remove the barriers and be truly creative. As humans we have spent almost all of our lives living in a similar way. Suddenly technology has really sped up our development and the inability to adapt is one of our biggest problems. If an individual can learn to pivot and be adaptable it will have an immeasurable impact on their life. People think innovation is ‘technology and science’ and that creativity is ‘art’. But this is a myth, they are both intrinsically linked. Creativity is coming up with the idea and innovation is implementing it. You can’t have one without the other. The real reward for innovation is for people who innovate and are successful. Those who innovate and fail often end up at the receiving end of negativity. This doesn’t inspire or incentivise people in society to innovate or be creative as we often have to fail multiple times before doing something successful. What we know about ourselves is the single most important knowledge we have. It is also the most difficult to shift. If what you do is in alignment with your morals and goals then you do not feel like you ‘working’. You are doing what puts fire in your belly and it is the ideal state of life. Being fully present in whatever you are doing, even if it is something you don’t want to do, that will make life more joyful. BEST MOMENTS “All of this stuff I have learnt along the way has made me very passionate about helping people free their own minds” “If you’re not able to ‘shift’ then that’s not really being creative” “Society doesn’t give us an incentive to innovate and be creative” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) Michael’s LinkedIn Book a call with Michael Lee ABOUT THE GUEST Michael LeeCertified master of creativity and innovation coaching: Master of Creativity and Innovation Coaching, certified by the ICR Thought Leader Coach, platforming big minds to big impact for Thought Leader Path Global Innovation Advisor for the cutting-edge Silicon Valley firm Innovation Minds Michael’s LinkedIn ABOUT THE HOST The ‘Mighty Pete Lonton’ from the ‘Mighty 247’ company is your main host of ‘Fire In The Belly’. Ep 128E128: What Makes Your Heart Sing - Interview with Doreen Ritchie
Today Pete speaks to Doreen Ritchie, a life and executive coach born and living in Belfast. A serious accident changed how Doreen viewed her life and started her off on a road of self-discovery. Pete and Doreen talk about why this was as well as coaching, change, mindset and more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Doreen often helps people who are at a crossroads in their life. People who may be under stress or have just undergone major life events or changes. She helps them process these things and helps cultivate next steps for them to succeed. Doreen also creates workshops for businesses around stress, often as part of wider events around wellness. Change is often the answer to many problems. Doreen helps people change their lives. Individuals often think they are going to a coach to solve one or two problems. But usually these problems are a symptom of something bigger. A side effect of fixing some areas of your life is a transformation of your life entirely. We are on autopilot for a lot of a life. And unless we are conscious we are doing something then we can’t change it. Live your life, this is not a dress rehearsal. All we have is the now and the present. Doreen suffered in a bad car accident which changed her life direction forever. She realised she hadn’t been ‘living’ her life for the past ten years, she had just been existing. It began her journey of self-realisation and discovery. Doreen’s background is in business but after leaving her job after the accident and not knowing what to do she assessed and reflected on her strengths. She recognised she was great with people and problem solving. This lead her to becoming a life coach. BEST MOMENTS “I’m not doing the thing for them I’m just guiding them to where they need to be in order to solve this problem and move forward” “Always, always, always the answer is change” “Why are you telling yourself the story you aren’t worthy of love?” “Most of it goes back to your childhood because that’s where we’re programmed” “I just want to connect with people” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) ABOUT THE GUEST Doreen RitchieA life and executive coach living in Belfast. Ep 127E127: Flowing Through Life Differently - Interview with Alexandra Pinteric
Today Pete speaks to Alexandra Pinteric a speaker, motivator and author. Alex writes and publishes inspiring books for kids and their parents about personal growth and the changes we experience throughout life, encouraging them to become the positive change we need in the world. They talk about the ego, self-development, philosophy and more! KEY TAKEAWAYS Alex attached a character to her ego. The badger. Everyone has a ‘badger’. We all have these voices of doubt. The ‘badger’ is telling you negative things and will even turn positive things into a negative! When Alex is teaching her clients about ego she always takes into count of the ego and how many layers are involved in personal development. Alex says energy is key to happiness in life. Without energy, we suffer from fear and depression. This knowledge is how Alex combated self-hate and depression in herself. Our physical bodies are how we express and feel everything in the world. If we are in pain then that means we are not doing something right. Alex’s journey of self-development was a struggle but she says it is almost effortless living a more authentic life. Something we should all strive for. There is beauty in everything but you have to re-programme yourself to see it in the world surrounding you. It takes work and it takes time. Alex had a difficult upbringing but felt like she was a fighter. She knew she had to fight for herself and others. She has always been an advocate, even since childhood. Ep 126E126: Don’t Let Anyone Put Out Your Spark - Interview with Breda McCague
Today Pete speaks to Breda McCague, an incredible motivator and empowering transformational specialist. She co-founded and co-chairs the Lean-In Ireland community which empowers women to help them achieve their mission. Alongside this and her more corporate roles, Breda also has three children and currently plays in a rock band! KEY TAKEAWAYS Fire in the Belly to Breda is her drive and her passion. It can also be something that many don’t think a lot about until they lose it. Breda is someone who had fire in the belly when she was young, who then lost it in the middle of her life and has now regained it. People don’t realise that if you are parenting by default then you are probably parenting the way you were parented. Breda doesn’t think that is up to scratch for our children anymore. Our parents and their parents and even further back lived in a completely different world to kids today. Breda believes in conscious parenting. So, making conscious decisions on how to raise your children. Children are very intuitive and by teaching them things like how to deal with emotions, you are then helping them develop things that many of us had to learn in a much more difficult way as an adult. Learning to be competitive at a young age helped Breda tremendously in the corporate world as adult. By competing at a young age Breda got the feeling of being in competition, so being ambitious and wanting to do well become who she was as a person. Put emotions into your decisions and vision. If you decide on your goal and put emotion into it then what will happen is drive. You’ll be pulled through difficulties and keep going. Breda had to learn emotional intelligence as an adult. In particular, she had to unpick fear and how it influenced her life. She now recognises fear and negativity and knows that they do not make her feel good, or ambitious or productive. She then went on to learn about her subconscious and conscious mind and her conditioning. This lead her to be able to train herself on how to deal with life in a completely different way. She now has much more ‘control’ over her emotions. When you start to see fear in your life and in your decisions it’s scary how much of an influence it has on your life. Celebrating your successes, even your small wins, is as important as mastering your fears and your vision. You need all three for self-mastery; your vision, mastering your fears and celebrating your success. BEST MOMENTS “I don’t want us to be parenting anymore the way we were parented” “Every child is born with a spark, they are put on this earth with special talent and skills and that’s what they’re supposed to be here to do, to contribute to the world” “Be the change you want to see” ‘We’re not in caves anymore and we’re not going to get eaten!” “Until you start to listen to what your inner voice is doing then you can’t change it” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) ABOUT THE GUEST Breda McCague An extraordinary Motivator and Empowering Transformational Specialist. She coaches individuals, and small and large groups, from a wide range of backgrounds, from the start up community and small business owners, right through to career corporates in large multinationals. Ep 125E125: Creating Wealth Without Losing Your Soul - Interview with Gabriel Uribe
Today Pete speaks to Gabriel Uribe, a coach and mentor from Mexico with a strong purpose to serve others in creating more wealth. They talk about coaching, business, connection and more! KEY TAKEAWAYS After a difficult time in business in his 30s Gabriel started to look more into the idea of wealth and success without jeopardising his soul. Sometimes you need to rise-up and gain a change of mindset and start ‘creating’ to become wealthy and successful. Conscious creation is consciously thinking about what you are putting out to the world and by doing this you can be your true authentic self. Gabriel says that business owners have a huge impact, that they can be the change makers of the world. He says that peace, harmony and other goals are not able to be met by governments but by us as individuals and business owners and being conscious of the impact we make. Fire in the Belly for Gabriel is connection, peace and a ‘knowing’ that everything is going to alright in the end. Being able to connect to your inner-self and recognising what it is you are in the world to achieve. Many people think of philanthropy as being the ultimate course to being a ‘good human being’. But, there are so many things closer to home that you can support and help with that are selfless and can make you a ‘good human’. BEST MOMENTS “The beautiful part is I started digging about the concept of wealth and the concept of success” “Sometimes you have to rise up to be bright” “I will let the creating go through me so I can be whatever I want to be” “Allow ourselves to be leaders of the change, of the real good change” “If you have a healthy ego you know that you’re valuable” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) https://www.coachgabrieluribe.com/ https://www.amazon.com/When-All-Boats-Rise-Thriving-ebook/dp/B075LWN1M5 https://open.spotify.com/show/64pfo3Ni7HZ3nhMTM3wMMD?si=pkKBf7OTTiifI7pPb5kmcQ https://worldclass.academy/courses/masterpiece2 ABOUT THE GUEST Gabriel Uribe A coach with a strong purpose to serve others in creating more wealth! Ep 124E124: Everything Is Energy - Interview with Doug Gordon
Today Pete speaks to Doug Gordon, CEO, coach, professional speaker and radio presenter! They talk about wellness, perspective, mindset, and more. An intriguing and enlightening episode. KEY TAKEAWAYS Doug moved around a lot when he was a child including living in Ireland, London and Belgium. He now bases himself between Ireland and England. Doug did an engineering degree but after working in a rather ‘mucky’ environment he switched paths and ended up in the investment world, working his way up and through various roles. After suffering health problems, major stress and a near death experience Doug healed himself using wellness techniques. It was this that made him want to help others. Doug found that having true belief in ‘energy’ and himself has brought him success. He says that our bodies are just the vehicle and the energy inside us is what is in anything and everything in the world. We can easily blame others for how we feel and for situations that arise. But we have more control than we know. Regardless of what has happened, you have to take responsibility for your actions, thoughts and behaviours. To ‘know’ what your mission in life can give you a lot of purpose. Just keep focusing on this, despite life’s ups and downs, then you will ‘jump out of bed’ every day as you know your purpose. That’s what Doug says is Fire In The Belly. An avid learner, Doug reads 2-3 books a week! He has also spent so much time listening and taking on board experiences with others, to enable him to utilise the best techniques for success; both in business and his personal life. He passes on everything he has learnt in life to others, to help them as much as he can. BEST MOMENTS “My aim in life is to try and help people, find and connect with their true self and in turn find and connect with their true mission in life” “Am I perfect? Ep 123E123: Go Make, Go Do, Go Share - Interview with Melissa Mosher
Today Pete speaks to Melissa Mosher, entrepreneur, business strategist and now works in virtual event production. Melissa says if she does the interview right today then you will finish listening both exhausted and inspired! KEY TAKEAWAYS Melissa is in ‘corporate remission’. After working in corporate America for many years she decided to ‘do her own thing’ and is working for herself as an entrepreneur, business strategist and creator of virtual events. Gaming is a big part of Melissa’s life and it was how she first learnt how to “get people to do stuff”! Even in 2020 there is lots to learn from the gaming community, particularly about meetings online. Melissa’s whole being is engrained around being online. She doesn’t think she would enjoy working somewhere that wasn’t online now. For Melissa, Fire in the Belly is that insatiable urge to drive forward. When you have that feeling that you cannot ignore. A series of events including some rough jobs and a not-so-successful relationship made Melissa change the direction, drive and strategy of her life. If you can articulate the value you bring then people will find you and pay you for it. Melissa says her default is ‘logic’. She attributes this to her corporate background and being surrounded by a lot of men. She is trying to develop her soul/emotional side and listen to her ‘gut’ more as she thinks she has made bad decisions by only listening to her logical brain. Ep 120E120: Stories Are Life - Interview with Adrienne MacIain
Today Pete speaks to Adrienne MacIain, a story coach from Seattle. She helps individuals align themselves with their core message and then helps them get that message out via storytelling. KEY TAKEAWAYS A story coach is someone who brings out the stories of others. They help you figure out what stories are inside you, there might be ones ’colouring your world’ and you don’t even realise. They then help you decide whether it is a story to be shared, whether that is by writing a book, starting a podcast etc. We all have stories. People tend to disregard the importance of their own stories. Adrienne spent the first part of her life not knowing what she wanted or who she was. But it was an experience at an acting class that led her to change her life completely and sent her on a journey of self-discovery. Keep loving yourself and accepting yourself despite all the reasons not to in life. That os the real secret to happiness. Adrienne has three rules for happy living; to be authentic, be vulnerable and truthful and do uncomfortable work. How people respond to you is not about you. It’s about them. Being able to realise and then accept this can really relieve a burden for many, particularly 'people pleasers'. BEST MOMENTS “We’re meant for adventures and we’re meant for stories” “That was a really long winded way of me saying I really like your title [Fire in the Belly]” “It never bothered me until it bothered me” “So I would give myself a big hug and say it’s going to be ok” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) ABOUT THE GUEST Adrienne MacIain A story coach living in Seattle, USA. "When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves." - Viktor Frankl Today Pete speaks to Michelle Anhang, a leadership and lifecoach from Toronto, Canada. They talk about the trauma she has faced in her life and how it fuelled her passion and outlook. Michelle helps strip the silence, shatter the stigma, and get people on the path to becoming who they truly are. She works to support families faced with mental health challenges, individuals who are ready to stop their own cycle of self-sabotage, and professionals struggling with balance. This is her mission. KEY TAKEAWAYS Michelle’s husband died of suicide. She went into survival mode for the next ten years for the benefit of her two sons. She never fully processed her own grief. Eventually enough was enough and she could no longer carry the ‘backpack of shame, guilt and silence. She had to face everything, her childhood, her husbands death and her new identity. It was through discovering herself and going through these experiences that her coaching practice was born. She wanted to help others the way she helped herself. Michelle gave herself permission some time ago to be able to screw up sometimes. It’s all part of the human experience. Dancing was a breakthrough for Michelle. It was something she always wanted to do but had not allowed herself to experience due to her upbringing. It was one of the most liberating experiences of her life and she attributes it being a huge part of who she is today. Freedom is Michelle’s number one value. Every decision she makes she analyses its impact on her freedom. It was a number of things surrounding Michelle’s 45th birthday that lead her to seek recovery. Ep 118E118: The Place You Go To When You’re Dreaming About Your Future - Interview with Jane Bayler
Today Pete speaks to Jane Bayler, a serial entrepreneur with vast experience in growing and scaling entertainment businesses. They talk about entrepreneurism, marketing, childhood and more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Jane specialised in business growth for 20 years. She is an expert in scaling businesses fast and has worked across many global brands. An advocate for marketing automation and digital technology, Jane incorporates this into all of her programmes as well as her marketing consultancy work. Fire in The Belly means ‘Passion’ for Jane. That ‘thing’ that gets you up in the morning. Often we start out with infinite passion as children. We know what we want and believe we can get there. But as adults many people lose their passion and get stuck in the ‘hum drum’ of life. Jane’s superpower is taking complex ideas and breaking them down into ways that make them easier to understand. This is one of the reasons she writes. Jane had a difficult start to life but luckily was given a chance to go to boarding school when she was 13 and this turned her life around. She is still so grateful for this opportunity she was given. Jane started writing in spare moments she had when her children were young. She realised how much she loved it and it sparked a life-long passion for her. The expectation and pressure for young women nowadays Jane says is ‘insane’. It’s so expensive and unattainable. Social media makes an already difficult time and pressure 100 times worse. If you don’t have the maturity or support then it’s no wonder you would end up feeling ‘less than’. BEST MOMENTS “The business grew from 1 to 6 million in really just a year” “The one mistake people make is they assume other people are actually interested in them” “You’re not alone” “Sitting on a beach writing books, with my children… that would pretty much be a perfect life for me” “They’re manufacturing a life” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) ABOUT THE GUEST Jane Bayler Owner of the smart collector, author and entrepreneur. KEY TAKEAWAYS Annette had never planned on becoming an accountant but she knew from an early age that she wanted to run her own business as this what her father did. Fire in the belly for Annette means, family, legacy and serving. Annette like many parents found parenting came naturally to her in some areas but not others! Annette loved dancing and performing as a child. She had a great set of friends and loved all of school. She didn’t find academia came naturally to her so hard to really work and study hard to achieve what she did. Annette started creating her business whilst working full time but took the plunge and it was one of the greatest, life changing decisions she made. Ep 115E115: I’m Not Out of Love With the World Yet - Interview with Russell Nohelty
Today Pete speaks with best-selling author Russell Nohelty. He writes novels and comics which are mostly fantasy but also dabbles in sci-fi and mystery, as well as many other projects. They talk about films, writing, business, mental health and more! KEY TAKEAWAYS Russell started writing comics after spending 6 years creating films. The faster turnaround and development of comics appealed to him after it was suggested to him by his agent. Russell is mostly know for comics right now but has written 29 novels including various series and even a childrens book! Russell talks about how little control he can have over the finished process of a comic. For this very reason he ends up writing far more novels. He makes sure that he loves writing his novels the most as this is what he has the most control over. There are only so many ‘spots’ for successful people. Russell has struggled with his mental health and has had to deal with thoughts of suicide. One of the reasons he says he has not taken his life up until now is because of the amount of other people who look up to him who also suffer with mental health problems. He feels responsible. He also says he has more to say and has not fallen out of love with the world yet. Russell says that intelligent people should be able to talk about things so that a ‘five year old’ could understand. He says that truly dumb people are the ones who overcomplicate things to try and make themselves ‘sound smart’. The 'Fire in Russells's Belly' is less passion but more 'compulsion'. BEST MOMENTS “I like the collaborative process, I really love getting pages back and seeing what someone else has done with the words” “It’s way easier to make the courses…but it does nothing for me, does nothing to improve my state apart besides having money” “I don’t think many people actually understand what I am saying…it’s not because the people are bad they just don’t understand as they have never gotten there” “Stay strong in the face of all of the shit going on” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) ABOUT THE GUEST Russell Nohelty Writer of novels and creator of comics living in LA California. Ep 114E114: What’s Your Masterpiece? – Interview with Alexander Inchbald
Today Pete speaks to Alexander Inchbald, British born but currently living in Switzerland. Alex helps people learn to love what they do. He helps individuals, teams and organizations seize this historic opportunity in an ever-changing world and step into a new reality. He helps them by creating a solid foundation to forge their ‘masterpiece’. He does this through coaching, creating workshops and programmes as well as through his artwork. KEY TAKEAWAYS A masterpiece is the greatest thing you can create for yourself, for your family and to society. Alex always felt he was a creative but followed what his father wanted him to do and really struggled with life. He got the job he thought he wanted but was miserable, when he was then made redundant he hit rock bottom but a series of events lead him back to painting. Alex now paints in extreme locations, he says this is what taught him to creative everywhere. We are living through the greatest transition since The Industrial Revolution. The institutions upon which the modern world was created - health, finance, education, military - are dissolving around us. This can be disconcerting and disorienting. However, nature abhors a vacuum. So, what world would you like to fill the space being created? The last time we had an opportunity of this magnitude was after 9/11. We missed the opportunity then, because we didn't have the tech or the mindset to take advantage of this opportunity but now we do. We all have an ‘outer’ and an ‘inner’ game. The outer game is our identity, we access this through our five physical senses. As a society we mostly focus on this outer space, the physical, what we can see. The inner game is the ‘sixth sense’, our intuition. The key to unlocking our inner game is via purpose. BEST MOMENTS “Everyone has a masterpiece in them” “Everyone is an artist today, but not necessarily the artist who paints, the artist who sculpts, or writes” “Is one season more powerful than another? No. But are we neglecting one season? Yes” “A lot of gurus say to empty your mind. But what they really mean is come from a space of ‘nothingness’” “One of the biggest myths is that it is hard work to generate money” "Sometimes good doesn't happen so great can" VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) [email protected] https://alexander-inchbald.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/becreativeeverywhere?lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_profile_view_base_contact_details%3B4lojSGduRq2H3oS4z3%2F1bA%3D%3D https://alexander-inchbald.com/masterpiece-book/ ABOUT THE GUEST Alexander Inchbald Alexander founded the Purpose Movement and is a Master Trainer at Entrepreneur’s Institute, the largest entrepreneur movement in the world. Ep 113E113: Interview with Lifestyle Entrepreneur Brian Meder
Today Pete speaks to Brian Meder. Brian is German but currently lives in Ireland and up until five years ago was an engineer. He now spends his time as a lifestyle entrepreneur and holistic biohacker. In this mind-opening episode they talk about childhood, biohacking, philosophy and more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Brian was interested in the environment and environmental protection from a young age and it is this that lead him to study environmental protection including waste management and industrial cleaning. He then became an engineer even though this wasn’t his original plan. Brian had a job he enjoyed but it was a desk job and made him realise it wasn’t what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Brian’s girlfriend is an energy therapist and it was her that first introduced him to the world of bioenergy and the subconscious mind. His entire mindset changed and he quit his job and moved to Ireland. Brian says that previous generations contribute to who you are as a person today, even going back many generations ago – so much gets passed down that aren’t just physical attributes. More of an ‘outsider’ at school, Brian always felt a bit different and always questioned everything. Brian says fire in the belly is empowering people to go after what they really want to do, whether that be their career, or money or a completely personal journey. It’s totally different for everyone. Children pick up on everything. They absorb energy. It’s important to encourage parents to learn about and work on their own happiness. Your child doesn’t care about what job you do, they just want you to be happy. They want to spend the most time with you as possible. Only you have the power over your reactions. No one can make you feel a certain way. Take a step back and look at why you have reacted a certain way. Some people find a negative in everything and it’s because as humans we carry so much with us. It’s like an oil filter, if everything has to go through a dirty filter it makes no difference how clean the oil is. We all interpret the same situation differently because we are all different. BEST MOMENTS “I realised from an early age when you believe in something and share that people actually pick up on it and listen to it” “She opened up a lot of the new things to me…the idea that your thoughts create your reality, just believe things are going to work out, go after what you think is right rather than what you are told to do” “Who I am today is a completely different person to who I was 9 years ago” “Once you open that box, it’s open, you just go deeper and deeper” “When you have a lot of stuff that you carry with you it doesn’t matter how ‘nice’ something is you still have a negative aspect to it” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) https://www.linkedin.com/in/brianmeder/ https://www.facebook.com/whoisbrianmeder hiddenmind.com.de ABOUT THE GUEST Brian Meder: Lifestyle Entrepreneur Biohacking | Health | Truth | Freedom https://www.linkedin.com/in/brianmeder/ https://www.facebook.com/whoisbrianmeder hiddenmind.com.de ABOUT THE HOST The ‘Mighty Pete Lonton’ from the ‘Mighty 247’ company is your main host of ‘Fire In The Belly’. Ep 112E112: Be Patient, Be Present, Be Joyful – Interview with Ryan Stanley
Today Pete speaks to Ryan Stanley, husband, father and personal coach living in New Jersey USA. Ryan is also an author and serial entrepreneur, he loves creating businesses and believes entrepreneurialism is a form of art. They talk about Ryan’s journey to who he is now, how he tackles each day and what matters to him the most. KEY TAKEAWAYS Ryan’s superpower is his awareness of the ‘now’. He has spent a lot of time choosing to be where is now, he Is not fearful of the future or the past. If you change your mindset to seeing things happening ‘for you’ rather than ‘to you’ then you will see the world completely differently. You will start to see more gratitude and curiosity. You will then recognise your role in creating your own path. Ryan says he is here to serve those that are on the cusp of self-awareness, that realise that there is more to life or recognise that they have been living for something or someone else. Anything worth doing takes time and effort. If you aren’t happy with who you are and where you are then it is your responsibility to do something about it. You can do this right now, you don’t have to wait for a ‘wake-up call’ you can make the decision now. You can change the past. We remember our past in the way we want to. We remember the stories and the events in a way that fits with our story. We can choose to change the way we frame our past. You connect with humanity on a different level when you experience different cultures around the world. Travelling to all six continents is on the top of Ryan’s bucket list for this very reason. Everybody has different potentials. Most people know what their gifts are, whether they say it or acknowledge it or not. BEST MOMENTS “Entrepreneurialism is a form of art” “Are you spending it worrying about what happened two years ago or thinking about what someone else somewhere else thinks or are you choosing your time now to create the best version of yourself” “Literally there is only now, right now” “To change your reality, you need to change your personality” “There are limitless possibilities in everything and when we judge anything, put a label on anything, we actually remove other possibilities. Ep 111E111: Changing the world to a Healthier Place - Interview with Alison Trethewey-Smith
Today Pete speaks to Alison Trethewey-Smith, she lives in Kent in the UK. Her career originally was based in London in stockbroking but she has had many different directions since then. An emotional episode; Alison talks about the start of her career, being a mother, the sudden illness of her husband and her journey to where she is now. KEY TAKEAWAYS Alison feels she has been on a massive journey her entire life. She loves travelling and has been extensively around the world but has always lived in the UK. When Alison worked in the city she would do a 4 hour commute to work, she did this for 12 years. She found working in the city fun but also very stressful. She found over time that this lifestyle became exhausting. Alison decided to have a baby with her husband and between them figure out a plan so she did not have to go back to work. Alison absolutely loved having a baby, life felt perfect to her. But several months later her life completely changed when her husband fell very ill. Her husband Tony was diagnosed with a brain tumour. It was an incredibly difficult time in her life only made easier by her beautiful son Thomas who sprinkled their lives with happiness in such a sad time. Sadly after multiple treatment options Tony lost his battle with cancer. Alison has always found that her mum is the one that has always supported her emotionally. Alison discovered that she had years of programming that lead her to exhaustion and burnout. She had to spend time unlearning so many habits on her journey to health. Alison’s fire in the belly is to have her own retreat. Ep 110E110: Sly the Triangle - Interview with Sly Tha Deuce
Today Pete speaks to Sly Tha Deuce, author, music publisher and songwriter. He also coaches and provides resources to artists to help them build wealth whilst they build fame. Originally from Colorado Sly has been inspired and influenced to succeed by the people he was surrounded with growing up. He now wants to pass this joy onto others. Listen in today to hear about how he does this, his take on the music industry, his philosophies about life and more! KEY TAKEAWAYS Music has always been Sly’s medium of expression. You can listen to music and not even understand the lyrics but you can feel the emotion through the musical composition. Commercialising music can be incredibly difficult as you are trying to monetise passion and art. This is something Sly helps musicians with. Fire in the belly for Sly is whatever you do to leave you imprint on the world. For Sly, seeing what others in his life had and what level they were at is what gave him the motivation to be who he is today. It really opened his eyes to the type of habits and mindset he would need to embody to have a successful and fulfilled life. Only we as individuals are aware of our own personal pain so when we hear another person express that pain through music we truly resonate with it. Sly wanted to build a life where he was proud of what he was doing every day. Where what he is doing fits into his goals and vision. He doesn’t want to just cherry pick best moments and the rest be bearable, he wants to enjoy his entire life. Sly states that you should always follow your heart. You can even handle bad situations well if you handle them with some love. It’s important to not look back at things with regret. He doesn’t want to have a ‘regret jar’ to open when he is old! BEST MOMENTS “It just resonates with me in a way that other things don’t” “The same passion that you put into making that music should be applied to making sure that someone hears it” “It’s personal to everyone that’s the beauty of it [Fire in The Belly]” “My superpower is knowing people” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 109E109: Thoughtful Leadership - Interview with Mindy Gibbins-Klein
Today Pete speaks to Mindy Gibbins-Klein, author, trainer and award-winning entrepreneur. She helps people get their message out there, often via a book but also through many other platforms. KEY TAKEAWAYS Mindy has written 9 books, Mindy lost her friend to suicide when she was just 26, this is what inspired her to write her first book and launched her career. Mindy partakes in thoughtful leadership, this is really taking the time to think through what you are putting out there. It is spending time reflecting on what you are doing and what you plan to do and being truly honest. The willingness to look at what you are doing and be honest about what you see. 24 Carat Bold, a book Mindy wrote, was the first time she was truly bold herself and encouraged others to also be bold; to be opinionated but still respectable. A lot of people hold back what they really think, they worry about what others might say or think. Mindy wants to help others fire in the belly and help them fulfil that dream they have, show them it’s possible and how they can do it. Mindy finds more reward in helping others than doing things for herself. She gets more out of helping others than even writing her own books. Mindy believes that we are all capable of continuous improvement. We are all born with the ability to strive for more and make decisions for ourselves and our lives. It’s a choice. Goal setting is about deciding whether to commit and ‘pay the price’. Decide whether you are going to do the work to achieve the goal. You will feel more authentic even if you are honest with yourself and say no and you will also achieve the goals you do decide to go for. Just because you want to improve or change things it doesn’t mean that there is anything wrong with how you are right now. Recognising that you want to do something different and doing that is a beautiful thing. Focus and appreciate that. BEST MOMENTS “I’m not here to judge or play god or anything like that but if someone wants to do it and it’s not happening then we step in” “Don’t die with the book or the story still in you” “I think every single person is born with the ability to do the hard work, to make the tough decisions, to make sacrifices, to change their lives…continuous improvement is there for all of us” “Most people are not self-aware at all…but if you can look at your own stuff and have a higher standard for yourself…you can end up being a thought-leader” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about Parallel Financial here: https://www.parallelfinancial.com/ Visit the Chudyk Financial Services and Insurance Group Official Website: https://www.sccommercialinsurance.com/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 108E108: Heart Lessons for Magical Living - Interview with Joseph McGuire
Today Pete speaks to Joseph McGuire, a complimentary therapist from Ireland who currently works as a facial profiler. They talk about belief, science, philosophies and more. This is a really in depth and thought provoking episode. KEY TAKEAWAYS A facial profiler is based on centuries of Chinese tradition and is based on the premise that our facial features show a huge amount about us, including our personality and behaviours. Joseph says he is more concerned with knowing than believing, which means he would rather observe something and look for the evidence. Science is not definitive, science is the continuous process of exploring. There is intellectual knowing where we have tangible proof of something and something called internal knowing which is more of a ‘feeling’ and ‘deep sense’. Joseph has been heavily influenced by Chinese culture and traditions in his work. China has has a huge influence across many nations in the west Joseph feels like he is very much on the right course for his life but knows he has the ability to adapt when and if needed. Joseph classes himself as what’s called an ‘extreme listener’. He doesn’t just listen to the words being said but understands the deeper meaning at hand. He is very intuitive. BEST MOMENTS “I don’t get caught up in belief because for me belief is like you’re put oneself in a box” “I have a scientific outlook, I am continually asking questions” “Fire to me covers a multitude, it can be a blaze which is raging or it can be a tiny flame which creates a light” “I can sit comfortably in silence, with somebody, and silence can be immensely powerful… to be able to sit in silence with somebody is an incredibly powerful experience”. Ep 107E107: Facing The Fear - Interview with Nina Harper
Today Pete speaks to ‘Work in progress’ Nina Harper! She was born and raised in England, she has lived all over the world but now lives in Northern Ireland where she has written two books about her daughters’ adoption journey. Tune in today to hear about Nina’s book, the adoption of her daughter, philosophies, her background, who she is as a person and more! KEY TAKEAWAYS Nina has found the process of writing her books very cathartic, at first she was worried about the personal nature of her books and ‘oversharing’ but now believes this is what makes them resonate so much with others. Nina and her partner had an extremely difficult and emotional journey through infertility which then lead them to the adoption process. Nina heard a lot of no’s through the adoption process but her Fire in the Belly didn’t allow her to take no for an answer! She was solution focused throughout and kept pushing. Nina puts a lot of faith into the ‘systems’ she has created in her life, things like to-do lists and spider diagrams. As an emotionally driven person these often give her the clarity and focus she needs in various aspects of her life. Nina is a quiet, introverted, deeply emotional person with a strong sense of right and wrong. She is massively impacted by the state of the world today and can’t watch the news without getting visibly upset. Nina said that without the help and support of so many they wouldn’t have been able to adopt their daughter, they can’t thank them all enough. BEST MOMENTS “Families are made up of all different types of people nowadays” “I was worried that I had overshared...that’s what they liked about it [the book] it rings true, they can relate to it” “You’ve got to face that fear, if you truly think it’s the right thing to do” “Fire in the belly means to me not taking that no [for an answer], not accepting that, I’ve got this drive, I’ve got this goal I am not frightened to challenge this” “When it took off [the plane], I felt safe for the first time in a long time” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about Parallel Financial here: https://www.parallelfinancial.com/ Visit the Chudyk Financial Services and Insurance Group Official Website: https://www.sccommercialinsurance.com/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 105E105: The Iceberg Effect - Interview with Sue Bowles
Today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Sue Bowles for a second time. Sue is a well-known coach and author from Ohio. She has had an incredible life journey and the past six years have been truly transformative for her. They speak again about her support to those in need of inspiration and her remarkable wisdom around healing. Sue is unafraid and very committed to amplifying the voices of many women, especially sexual abuse survivors. Know more about her ultimate passion when you tune in today. KEY TAKEAWAYS Victim vs Survivor. Be careful of how you label or identify yourself. Always know that you are in control of how your life should steer. “I use the word survivor over the victim because if I call myself a victim, I continue to let it control me and identify and define me. When I use the word ‘survivor’, a very empowering word, it means I control ‘it’.”–Sue Bowles Sue is lucky since once she found her voice, she was able to use it to help others. It was a long journey. For six years, she went from being very anxious and lost to being a self-aware and optimistic individual. This experience motivated her to share her own story, so other people feel encouraged to move forward. It’s very difficult to navigate life when you’re still haunted by your traumatic past. Sue experienced emotional abuse with her ex-partner. Her healing process was quite a tough journey that lasted for quite a long time. Freeing herself from the toxic attachment was just half the struggle. Redeeming yourself and finally making plans to attain what is meant for you can happen even after such burdens. Sue values her relationship with God above all else. She believes that God did not and will not let anything bad happen to her. Everything is just part of life. For Sue, it’s clinging to her faith that made her vanish any doubts and strengthen her self-belief and self-worth. Ep 104E104: The Hungry Mummy - Interview with Danielle Bell
It’s truly a life worth living when we’re always hungry for success and abundance! In this episode, we get to know how the Hungry Mummy Danielle Bell helps the newcomers (especially mothers) start to raise finance, source deals, and learn about accountability. Danielle, who admits that she was previously a people pleaser, can’t help and be amazed at how well her life is going now. She has grown her property portfolio, been mentoring about property sourcing, and is now co-hosting the PPN Belfast Podcast. These—and other greater things—wouldn’t have happened in her life if Danielle didn’t realise what her fire in the belly is! Stay tuned and start learning about the hungry mummy’s life story now! KEY TAKEAWAYS Danielle used to live a life that was controlled by whatever society deemed normal. It was not her dream she was pursuing. It was always others' opinions that influenced her life decisions. Not only did it bring stagnation in her life, but it also made her question her identity and her capabilities. As humans, we just want to feel that we belong and that we’re accepted. But this doesn’t happen by becoming what others want us to be. It’s all about accepting who we are, primarily. When we stop looking for validations that only we can give to ourselves, it’s then that we feel full and loved. Change your “should’s” to “must’s”. Since Danielle started extending her business online, it became difficult for her to avoid the seldom toxic engagements that exist in social media. She told herself that she must be mindful—mindful of what she’ll absorb and mindful of how she’ll handle them. As much as possible, if she feels the negative energy coming from anything, she pauses so she can’t cause harm to other people. We must always lead our life with compassion. We aren’t better than anyone else. Wherever you go, whatever success you reach, stay humble, and remember to bring a positive impact to others' lives. The last six months of Danielle have been her happiest as she feels she’s serving her purpose. Coping with the COVID-19 outbreak has been very challenging, not just to the businesses, but to every single one of us. So, Danielle is quite elated that she can bring hope to HUNGRY newcomers and educate them about property sourcing. BEST MOMENTS “Don’t live someone else’s dreams.” “This is who I am. It’s either you like me or you don’t like me.” “Be kind to everyone, you don’t know what’s happening in their lives.” “The future is bright, but I’m not under the illusion that this will come easily.” “Commit or don’t commit at all.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Join the FREE Boss Mum Webinar with Danielle & Dolapo: https://bit.ly/2RA5v9Y Follow Property Sourcing Made Simple by Danielle Bell Hungry Mummy on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/iamhungrymummy/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 103E103: Interview with David Chudyk
“Salaries aren’t cool—they restrict you and bind you.” – David Chudyk Today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to David Chudyk from Parallel Financial about his career journey—from working a 9-5 corporate job, he was able to take the leap and is now managing his own insurance company. Since the early 2000s, David has been helping many of his clients improve their financial well-being and also build & maintain their wealth. More importantly, he always emphasizes to everyone the importance of career and money philosophy. One should be able to improve their wealth when they have already built the mindset, determination, and the courage to take risks. You can learn more about some of his tips and his inspiring story when you listen to this episode. KEY TAKEAWAYS Developing problem-solver skills is a necessity. It’s not just for entrepreneurs and leaders. It is a life skill. If you want to reach the finish line and stomach every blockage that happens, then you must be tough, resilient, and always be a thinker. Foster an environment where every single one of your team members learns how to be independent and resourceful. They can’t be always waiting for the captain to make the call and initiate. To have a high-performing team, you want them to be problem-solvers too. Being not well-off through college served as a motivation for David to work harder. He wasn’t going to bars to drink and have fun—he was using his free time to earn extra cash. He learned early on about responsibility and hustling. After college, he worked for big corporations, taking 9-5 jobs. He was earning more than enough—a very competitive salary—but he figured out it wasn’t what he wanted. There was too much time wasted which he could spend with his family or on other more important things! He knew he can do more and earn more in a lesser time frame. He knew there was so much he could do. David went on and proceeded to do things on his own. He was a keen observer and fast learner so he always understood how the industry works. He took the chance, devised a solid business plan, collated a list of prospects, and helped a lot of people with his expertise. At present, his company Chudyk Financial Services and Insurance Group has been offering wealth management assistance to individuals and companies for 15 years. BEST MOMENTS “Why would I try harder to make the same amount of money? Why would I do all the extra things with no additional rewards?” “If you’re not going into a career where you don’t need a specific college degree, then you just need any college degree.” “There’s a difference between liking your craft and being good at your craft.” “Sometimes, when you meet the right people, they just make things happen.” “Our career and money philosophy was shaped while we were growing up.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about Parallel Financial here: https://www.parallelfinancial.com/ Visit the Chudyk Financial Services and Insurance Group Official Website: https://www.sccommercialinsurance.com/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 102E102: Interview with Tristan Lee, The Gorgeousness Coach
There isn’t a secret elixir to staying young forever, but there is a way you can cheat your way to looking and feeling young forever! In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Health & Wellness Coach and Author Tristan Lee about how he helps people feel great about themselves and enjoy their lives to the fullest, aside from sharing the secret to ageing gorgeously! Though Tristan is nearly 50, he shares that he still gets mistaken as a teenager. How so? Well, there are no skincare routine tips and meal prepping ideas to be shared today. But there is something much greater we can learn from the Gorgeousness Coach Tristan Lee. It’s all about starting from within. Tristan has a strong self-belief, knows his value, and is always unapologetically himself. Be inspired today and learn how it feels to be gorgeous inside out. KEY TAKEAWAYS Feel gorgeous to look gorgeous. Understand that there’s a relationship between our thoughts and our bodies. If you want to age gorgeously, then follow Tristan’s advice: start from within. When it’s time to decide what to eat, whether it be a show you watch on the tv or the food that you munch, we must be mindful. Cut out toxic connections, remove all distractions. It’s normal to get yourself shaken by any disapproval or bad feedback from someone. But if you see that it’s doing you harm in the long run, then just do it--distance yourself! It’s hard, but you should feel lighter when it’s done. Let nothing (ever) disturb your inner peace. It’s time to see the real you and experience life fully. ‘I know my value.’ Tristan believes it, and he reminds himself of this every time. One doesn’t need external validation. When you move, it should be for yourself and not impress others. He’s done his work—he’s accepted and healed from his past traumas, and he continues to learn and grow every single day. It becomes easy to dream and act from then on, according to Tristan. ‘I’m responsible for myself, my wellness, my self-esteem, my business, and other stuff that I can control in my life.’ While it’s true that some of us had, or even having, dreadful and even traumatic experiences, we must have a conscious effort to get out of it and draw out the negative energy it gives. No man is an island. It’s true. Acknowledge the people who have always been there. You must learn too how to accept help, and in return, offer some help for those who ask. Compassion and gratitude go a long way. BEST MOMENTS “I am valuable, and I deserve to be healthy.” “I ain’t one thing. I am all things at different times.” “All I do is combine all those lessons and experiences together. They all led me to what I’m doing right now. And it’s exactly what I’m meant to be doing.” “If you believe that you can, then you can do it. We go where we believe.” “This is not the end of me. I’m a fighter.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read Munch Move Moisturise: How to age gorgeously in your thirties, forties, fifties, and beyond! By Tristan Lee. Ep 101E101: Hitting the 100th Episode! Part 2: Together with Mark Victor Hansen & Crystal Hansen, Pat Slattery & Donna Kennedy
Today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, it’s Mighty Pete who takes the hot seat! He gives us a glimpse of his latest book, BELIFE or BELIEF, a collection of 20 odd stories for people who are looking for a change and even life transformation. His co-author Heather Lundy, who also was a guest in a previous episode, will be the one asking Pete book- and even non-book related questions. In this episode, we get to know how it can be a tool for ANYONE who stumbles upon it, what we can learn from Pete’s writing process, what part the FITB podcast plays in this new project of his, why should we know our WHYs, and many more. BELIFE or BELIEF will be out very very soon, make sure you have already reserved your copy. Check the link below for more details. KEY TAKEAWAYS Who is the book for? “It’s for those who make the choice to pick it up and read it.” – Mighty Pete A pretty bold statement. Mighty Pete doesn’t want to impose anything. But, if you decide to read and finish it, he guarantees that you’ll find someone/something to relate with. You’ll slam the book close with such fervor because finally, you see clarity in your future. It’s all about ‘finding the flame’. If it’s still not apparent, Mighty Pete is all about igniting the flame, the passion in you. In the podcast, he talks to numerous people hoping that you get inspired to continue, change, or even start anew for whatever you feel strongly for. You are unstoppable when you already know who you are and what you’re capable of. Just like a flame, it only grows bigger when you add fuel to it or create more friction. A motivated and driven person doesn’t ever stop trying and hustling because he/she knows there’s success in the end. You also stop looking for validations from everyone else. Mighty Pete has a unique writing process. When Mighty Pete was writing his part in the book, he wasn’t in front of a desktop typing or holding a pen and paper to do so—he was recording his voice. And then, he just used a speech recognition app to use its voice-to-text feature. Pete knows this is a better method since he’s a quick-thinking lad. Start with the WHY. We can only think of a step by step—and even spotless—plan in reaching our goals when we know what we’re doing it for. Is it the treasure at the end? The thrill of going through the journey? Or both? You need to understand what drives you so you can reasonably strategise. BEST MOMENTS “I believe you’re born with it and it stays with you until you die.” “The past is nothing but a memory. You can still change something now.” “If the WHY is big enough, then the HOW will happen.” “It only works when you do something about it. It only works if you choose to make a difference.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Pre-order BELIFE or BELIEF by Donna Kennedy, Pat Slattery, Pete Lonton, et al. here: https://donnakennedy.com/books/product/belife-or-belief-pre-order/ Discover your Love Language: https://www.5lovelanguages.com/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 100E100: Hitting the 100th Episode! Part 1: Together with Mark Victor Hansen & Crystal Hansen, Pat Slattery & Donna Kennedy
“It’s so magnetic and heavily charged when someone has their passion. It doesn’t even matter who or what you’re talking about... It’s finding ways to scale it and take it forward.” – Pete Lonton Unbelievable how time flies and how many powerful conversations we’ve had! It’s Fire In The Belly’s 100th episode, and to celebrate this milestone, your host Mighty Pete is joined by Mark Victor Hansen, Crystal Hansen, Pat Slattery, and Donna Kennedy. Together they talk about how far the podcast has reached and how big the fire is (still) to continue producing more content! Though the four have been guests and have inspired a lot of listeners before, there is a lot more they’re bringing to the table on this episode. Among the topics discussed was the difference between hearing and listening, being impactful to other people’s lives, acknowledging the oneness of the universe, and their book ‘BELIFE and BELIEF’. KEY TAKEAWAYS It’s incredible how much positive feedback they all get. Truly, bringing a positive impact on other people is the most satisfying thing you’ll ever do. It’s when we become selfless that we accomplish more for ourselves. The four of them recall how they changed other people’s views and beliefs for the better. Some weren’t believers, in fact of mentoring or coaching. It’s not until they let other people’s perspectives in, that they recognise their full power and control over their lives. Dive into self-help and inspirational resources as early as possible. There is no age limit with knowledge and wisdom. A teen can start finding mentors that can help them materialise their dreams. Also, having a mentor/coach at an early age helps them strengthen self-identity and ‘fill the gap’ during their identity development. Also, continuous learning is one of the most precious skills every individual should include in their skill set. One can learn further and do more outside the classroom. Listening vs hearing. Hearing is one of the 5 senses a human has; it’s perceiving sounds with our ears. Everyone can do this. Meanwhile, listening involves processing and understanding what you have heard. What draws the fine line between the two is the voluntary effort that we put in—the focus and a choice to make sense of what we hear around us. When mentoring, it’s important that (1) the client is willing and open-minded to learn, and (2) you allow them to have enough time to process and think about it. It’s a two-way process where the parties need to speak and listen. When we listen to other perspectives, we deepen our connections, not just with those people we interact with, but also with ourselves. As they say, other people can serve as a looking glass to your identity, belief, and values. Cheers to the 100th episode and more to come in the future! It’s amazing how the Fire In The Belly Podcast reached such an unbelievable milestone. So many known successful entrepreneurs, professionals, and influencers took the hot seat and openly shared their lives with everyone since day one. Mighty Pete is more than happy and grateful with what Fire In The Belly has achieved, and he’s not planning to stop anytime soon! This celebration motivates him to look for more interesting people to interview and to make new unique adventures with you. BEST MOMENTS “He who asks questions is a fool for five minutes; he who does not ask a question is a fool forever.” “It’s such a beautiful thing to be able to help someone find that part of themselves—that new shiny free part that tells them that they can just go out and express themselves in the world.” – Crystal Hansen “What people are looking for comes from the powerful question as well. It’s about asking the right questions and allowing people that time to hear the answer within themselves.” – Pat Slattery “That’s what beautiful to what Pete does—he is so gentle and has a non-judgmental spirit.” -Mark Victor Hansen “It’s more about getting the message out there, getting the wisdom out there, and helping to understand that there is more of they connect to better ideas, better principles, and better ways of living... There’s so much more to life” – Donna Kennedy VALUABLE RESOURCES Pre-order BELIFE or BELIEF by Donna Kennedy, pat Slattery, Pete Lonton, et al. here: https://donnakennedy.com/books/product/belife-or-belief-pre-order/ Read Ask!: The Bridge from Your Dreams to Your Destiny by Mark Victor Hanse and Crystal Hansen. Ep 99E99: Interview with Energy Alignment Coach and Create Your Vibrant Life Host Padma Ali
Not all would agree, but science and metaphysics, when combined, can give you a more nourishing perspective on life. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Coach, Speaker, and Podcaster Padma Ali, about the powerful results that neuropsychology, energy healing, and inner wisdom can produce. There is a mysterious link that exists that, when acknowledged, can help us create a purpose-driven life and achieve our highest potential. Let Padma give you a thorough discourse on these today. Other topics discussed: the benefits of mastering energy alignment, the existence of divine feminine and divine masculine in an individual, the skewed concept of being a high achiever, the life of Indian women, creating your vibrant life, and more. KEY TAKEAWAYS The metaphysical has always fascinated Padma. She believes we’re all moving energies in this environment. We must think that we alone as individuals must be purposeful when we traverse our journeys as it is like a domino effect—what we do may impact others too. Each one of us has a divine masculine and divine feminine in us. Both are vital for creation. The divine feminine is the creator and the visionary while the divine masculine helps to make the change happen. An individual embracing both his divine energies is said to be balanced and unstoppable in reaching greater heights. Something isn’t right when something doesn’t feel right. Trust your intuition. It isn’t irrational at all if you base your decision on your ‘gut feel’ because it is you who’s in control of everything in your life. If you’re driven with fear and there’s no motivation, then it would be difficult making positive progress. Padma admits she spent her life before as a high achiever/overachiever before experiencing living in alignment. Mostly, it’s because of her upbringing. Padma experienced strict parenting and inequality in society as an Indian woman. How can you truly live when you’re always worrying about other people’s happiness and their image of you? You can only do so much. You have to mind how you can achieve your own peace and happiness. Padma is an Energy Alignment Coach. She helps high achievers ‘rediscover themselves and take aligned actions to create powerful results’. The change is matchless and satisfying, she always assures her clients, as she recalls too how very high-strung her environment is before she discovered it. BEST MOMENTS “I used to be a high achiever, but I no longer subscribe to that terminology.” “I’ve continued acquiring knowledge, but not in a traditional sense.” “Fire in the belly means being able to access who you truly are beyond what I call myself in this 3d world.” “I completely surrender to the power of the divine.” “If you’re in alignment, it doesn’t feel like work.” “I’m very grateful for the journey that has brought me to this place in life.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read Padma Ali’s recommended books: Change Me Prayers: The Hidden Power of Spiritual Surrender. Ep 98E98: Interview with Juliane Thomys from ChecKin Health
Let nothing stress you out! In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, let Bio Kinesiology expert Juliane Thomys tell you and help you how you can manage any stress or anxiety you’re feeling so you can be the best you can be in life. Juliane, through ChecKin Health, has helped individuals who deal with traumatic experiences, both in Germany (her hometown) and Northern Ireland. Today, she shares too her personal journey and the wonders of bio kinesiology, a therapy that focuses on movements within our body, to more people in the world. You can’t let small things derail you from achieving more. You can get your life back, get that good night's sleep, and improve your overall health through bio kinesiology. Time to listen in, to know more! KEY TAKEAWAYS Being in lockdown for months now might have triggered fear and anxiety for some. We don’t get enough sun; we don’t get to exercise, and we don’t get to see our loved ones. We must do everything to cope with and take care of our mental health. As much as possible, find alternatives that can still lift your spirits. Try out a new hobby or speak to your friends via video call, for example. Your emotional and psychological state affects your physical state. Your physical appearance can tell what’s going on inside. So if you’re having a toxic week at work, your body won’t be able to hide it—you get puffy eyes, dull skin, and so on. There is so much more to understand about taking care of our bodies. Juli advises looking after your mental health too. What have we learned and what have we not learned? Juliane also shares some memories of her family with the Berlin Wall. As they were stuck in the east (within the Wall) and may not meet the people in the ‘West Germany’, they didn’t really get the truest perspective of what was happening in the entirety of Germany. It was difficult and traumatic. So, Juliane, who always has a big heart and a passion for learning new things, studied more and also worked as a social worker, hoping that she can bring change to her environment and other people’s lives. Soon after that, she specialised in Bio Kinesiology. She experienced this great healing journey when she was going through a divorce. She had zero knowledge of it but she knew she needed help so she just went for it. The divorce was one of the most traumatic things in her life; she didn’t even imagine she could get past it. It’s kinesiology (out of all the usual therapy out there) that improved her outlook on life. Never has she been so carefree and hopeful for her future. There is no more struggling with anxiety. And more importantly, maintaining a healthier body condition is now possible. BEST MOMENTS “All body processes (digestions, healing, resting, etc.) are dramatically affected by trauma and stress.” “When you’re just not so sure about yourself when you don’t follow that voice when you don’t know who you really are… I think that’s what our 20s are for—figuring them all out. And when you have them all figured out, you feel so much stronger.” “Walk quietly and carry a big stick.” “When I see injustice or someone being bullied, my heart goes out to them” “It almost feels like I need to educate all of us because we didn’t have access to it.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about ChecKin Health Bio Kinesiology Leitrem an Schedule a free call: https://www.checkinhealth.co.uk/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Ep 97E97: Interview with Break Up to Wake Up Coach, Jocelyn Bellows
“Every Break Up is a Wake-Up call. After all, it’s called break up, not a breakdown,” – Allen Martin. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Speaker, Coach, and Podcast Host Jocelyn Bellows to talk about her personal journey and her passion for helping other people to recover and heal from anything that’s limiting them from achieving greatness. Being in a toxic environment or experiencing obstacles isn’t new for Jocelyn. She had to deal with a lot of hiccups whilst reaching for the top. Listen in to Mighty Pete and Break Up To Wake Up Coach Jocelyn as they go through some stories and life strategies, just for you! KEY TAKEAWAYS Communication is the key to maintaining healthy relationships. And every person differs on how they handle conflicts and/or express themselves to others. If you want to understand the other person, then listen attentively and always respond with empathy. We may have loved ones who show affection or support in different ways. Maybe we expect them to give gifts, or just to be there for you. We can’t change their love language. What we can do is communicate well what our hearts really want. Jocelyn was always keen on knowing who she is—what is her personal identity? It was difficult for her to find the real First, she had a very distant relationship with her parents and siblings. And second, Jocelyn spent most of her younger days not knowing what to call her ‘home’ since she was moving a lot. So, when Jocelyn became more self-aware and could express her self-identity freely, she realised how fruitful her path could be. She knows now how to nurture her relationships. None of the co-dependence and toxicity that she experienced before is present. Empower yourself so you can change your life as well as others’ lives. Don’t let your past unpleasant experience and/or trauma ruin the present and the bright future ahead. You can overcome those limiting beliefs and achieve greatness too. BEST MOMENTS “It’s that ember that keeps you going, even at your lowest point.” “It may be dark, cold, and terrifying, but you have it inside of you.” “It’s all about connection—connection to your, other people, and the universe. Universal love is there.” “I was a victim my entire life. But I’m not a victim anymore. Ep 96E96: Interview with Elliot Connor, Founder and CEO of Human Nature Projects
Age is really just a number! Our guest today is a 17-year-old Changemaker and Conservationist, Elliot Connor. Elliot is also the founder of an international environmental NGO called Human Nature Projects. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, he shares his visions, his journey as a young leader, some of his obscure animal encounters, and how he balances his school, his advocacies, and some leisurely time. One of Elliot’s life goals is to bring awareness to how nature should be treated fairly by humans. We act like everything around us exists to be expended and nothing more. Humans aren’t superior creatures. There aren’t any superior creatures. Let’s listen to know more about this now! KEY TAKEAWAYS Are humans opportunists? Are we like rats that exploit what other living creatures have and produce? Nature can only be preserved if humans know how to coexist with other living things. Every action we make matter, so let’s aim to generate positive ripple effects. We must live purposefully and do our job to ensure mutual give and take. Develop an unshakeable self-belief. Self-belief can be boosted when you look deep internally and find out what you’re truly fighting for. We can never move forward when we doubt ourselves and be fearful of others' opinions. Let your body move according to how your heart thumps. So, what is your life’s purpose? No one would ever think a 16-year-old would start a global environmental NGO (non-government organization). The society wasn’t ready for a teen to bring environmental issues to the forefront. But look at where he and his organisation are right now. They’ve done massive influence and are now operating in 104 countries. Among other speaking engagements that Elliot has hosted, his TEDx Talk on ‘Evolution and how to save the world’ is probably the most iconic one. He confidently discussed developing a sustainable society, a human’s role in the environment, and Darwin’s 5 Theories of Evolution in front of hundreds of people. Preventive and reactive environmental practices. As much as possible, we want to eliminate, not just reduce harm to our environment and the living creatures. For companies, organisations, and even as individuals, we must assess how much we contribute to the degradation of our environment. Assess, strategize, and implement. We must think long-term and consider preventive approaches more. Unleash the power of storytelling. This is the most powerful tool to utilise when you want to effectively make a change. People lend their ears to your advocacy campaigns when they see that there’s an interesting narrative to follow. Make your stories compelling, so you can attract more donors and more environmental warriors. BEST MOMENTS “The system’s not set up for a minor to start an international environmental NGO.” “The idea is if we can all have that connection to nature... I’d be incredibly lucky of my few works in the space.” “All you can do is try. And that’s what I’m doing.” “We have to learn from other creatures how to embrace our instinctive habitual characteristics.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about Human Nature Projects. Ep 95E95: Interview with Roman Prokopchuk
It’s true. Experience is the best teacher of life lessons. In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Roman Prokopchuk about how he unexpectedly discovered (and thrived in) digital marketing, how he sees fulfilment in foster parenting, and how fascinating his journey is as an immigrant (from Ukraine) in the United States. Roman’s success didn’t come from luck, for sure—it was always pure hard work since the start. He wouldn’t accomplish anything if he hadn’t learnt to persevere and be resilient. If only people knew about these and other entrepreneurial qualities like ‘grit’, then they’d achieve or even just get closer to their goals too. Get ready to be inspired when you listen in to ‘Digital Savage’ Roman and Mighty Pete today! KEY TAKEAWAYS It shouldn’t be an issue when things don’t go as planned. A resilient and quick-witted individual wouldn’t have any problem with unforeseen diversions, even in career. For example, digital marketing isn’t the path that Ronan was hoping for, but out of necessity, he had to explore the industry. Luckily, through hard work and determination, he was able to develop a skill set that advanced his career. Aside from being busy with his business, Ronan is a very hands-on foster parent. Ronan sees that he spends enough time with all his foster children because as much as possible, he wants the kids to feel at home and to be better individuals. During the pandemic, it has been difficult to schedule visitations with kids’ legal guardians since face-to-face interactions are prohibited. So, he and his partner had to set everything up online for the kids. It was challenging but very rewarding, according to Ronan. Soft skills over hard skills. Ronan prefers a team player who is passionate and driven even with less technical skills over a team player who has an impressive resume but very low enthusiasm about the job position. The willingness of someone to achieve the same aim as yours is very important. Grit is everything you need; the root cause of it all. It’s the most vital factor to achieve success. It’s also about being not ashamed of your past traumas and being confident of who you are. Because success is not about the luck or talents, it’s about persevering even there’s little to no chance of winning. BEST MOMENTS “Fire in the belly is about resilience and grit.” “If you really want to do it, you’ll find time for it even though you’re busy.” “Everything in life is a lesson or a blessing.” “Do what you’re doing to the best of your ability because you don’t know who’s watching.” “You can’t control what happens around you. Ep 94E94: Interview with Shark Professional and Behaviourist, Cristina Zenato
Who knew sharks could be friends? Today will be an exciting episode as we learn more about sharks, marine life, and the role of humans in protecting them. Our guest Cristina Zenato is a Diver, Conservationist, Cave Explorer, and Shark Professional. She has lived in the Bahamas for years now and has been very active in bringing change to people’s views and interaction with the aquatic world for the better. Sharks are very misunderstood creatures, Cristina says. Listen to this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast as she shares more about her ‘friends’, her advocacy, some personal stories, and her career journey! KEY TAKEAWAYS Activate your ‘Do not disturb’ mode. Sometimes, we have to be wary about what we let in and out of our system. Maybe keeping a distance from external influences (e.g. social media) from time to time will help you focus on things that matter to you. She remembers how difficult it was for a female like her to grow up in Italy. Decades ago, people still thought that women’s existence was just for fertility, beauty, and men. Though she didn’t let it stop her from pursuing a degree and appreciate continuous learning. Protect oceans, sharks, and caves. This is Cristina’s lifelong advocacy. Together with her non-profit organisation People of the Water, they bring awareness to how people should treat the aquatic world and other environmental issues. It isn’t easy to get people jumping in your cause instantly. Cristina has seen advocates and activists get aggressive when they present their ideals. Acting like you have the moral high ground will not help you and your advocacies. Showing them how beneficial it is to them and the world will. You can start by sharing how your own little actions made positive results. “Sharks are the most innocent creatures I’ve ever met in my life.” – Cristina Zenato Cristina dedicated most of her life to studying sharks. Not just reading on textbooks, but actually swimming, observing, and even petting them. Sharks are large carnivorous animals so it’s just normal that people get terrified. But there is more that we can learn and do to also help in shark conservation. Cristina wants you to learn more about the true image of these creatures because they are significantly misunderstood. Our obligation as humans is not to disturb the marine ecosystem and make the oceans habitable for them and other creatures. This is what Cristina is most passionate about. BEST MOMENTS “I have created a life that which every day I call an expedition.” “There are no monsters under the sea; they are just what you make up in your head.” “When you love someone, you don’t want them to suffer.” “I keep absorbing, and I keep learning.” “Focus on your passion.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about Cristina Zenato. Ep 93E93: Interview with The Happiness Helper, Chloe Hirst
Is there really a one-shoe-fits-all formula for happiness? In this episode of Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Chloe Hirst, the Founder of The Happiness Helper, about how we can live a more meaningful and zestful life. When we’re in pursuit of happiness, it’s important to set goals. Most will just talk about ‘pursuing your passion’ or ‘living life to the fullest’, but Chloe wants to be logical as much as possible. You need to set goals, stray away from distractions, and practice gratitude, aside from listening to your heart alone. Chloe Hirst wants you to be practical and intentional in everything you do as much as possible. Listen to the Happiness Helper today and learn more! KEY TAKEAWAYS Is there a happiness formula? Chloe believes that more gratitude and less likelihood of getting fazed by societal norms means a more zestful life. Chloe can’t emphasize this enough. You don’t need to absorb every criticism thrown at you. It’s your path you got to manoeuvre; you’re in control. One reason that may have hindered you from reaching or even seeing your happiness too much distraction. Last year (2019), the UK recorded 45 million active social media users, and the average user spends at least 1 hour and 50 minutes a day on social media. That’s a lot of time that could’ve been spent on more important tasks. Chloe emphasises that we should aim for long-lasting happiness and satisfaction, not for instant gratification. Always be intentional every time you do something. Of course, social media has its benefits—you can communicate with your loved ones and your business network, for example, but be mindful and keep it in moderation. Chloe’s mantra for a happy life: Always listen to what your heart wants; that’s what will lead you to a happy life. We need to live a purposeful life, so if you need to reflect on it, start now. Everything else will follow when you know what you truly desire. No man is an island. Many still don’t see the benefits of having mentors and coaches in their life. Sometimes, it takes an expert in your field or someone who has gone through a similar journey to yours to show what needs to be done. BEST MOMENTS “A massive thing about coaching is…people need that person. People need accountability.” “If you don’t appreciate it, there is no point to it.” “Confidence in yourself in being, in who you are as a person is fundamental in happiness.” “You could be good at something and it doesn’t have to be your passion.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Visit The Happines Helper Official Website: http://thehappinesshelper.co.uk/ Email Chloe Hirst: [email protected] Book recommendations by Chloe Hirst: Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Ep 92E92: Interview with Rick Jordan, CEO & Founder of ReachOut Technology
After experiencing a near-death experience, our guest, Rick Jordan, promised himself that he would take control of his life more effectively. This was able to fully enjoy it with his family and also spend more time helping other people. Today, Rick shares more about this power of control he has harnessed, cybersecurity in business, the importance of balance and moderation, ethics, and more. Start tuning in to this episode of Fire In The Belly Podcast to get inspired! KEY TAKEAWAYS Everything should be taken in moderation. This advice not only applies in health but also in relationships—especially if we want to nurture the long-term ones. Rick is a compassionate person. And sometimes, he thinks that this has also caused him and the other people harm. When we’re too empathetic, bad people take advantage of it. This will not be beneficial to either of you. Rick puts an interesting perspective on the meaning of ‘fire in the belly’. Rick believes that it is something that keeps you going and doing to get to whatever the destination is. It’s involuntary, uncontrollable. You go for something as long as you don’t feel content—as long as you don’t feel fulfilled. That’s how the fire in the belly functions. Believe in your power and take control of your life. It’s easy to achieve your goals or even just tick off tasks on your checklist when you take responsibility and set your boundaries. We also vanish uncertainties and our fears when we just go for it. Get educated and strategise your life. Rick is one of the most trusted voices in cybersecurity. It isn’t a new practice per se, but companies have a hard time utilising this (and other IT services). Rick is here to help you optimise its valuable impact on the growth of your company. BEST MOMENTS “It’s those tragedies that will lead you into things that are extremely positive.” “Compassion is my superpower and my kryptonite at the same time.” “Trying to be someone who you’re not and trying to be other people is not something anybody should try to do.” “Educating yourself does actually work. You have to go out and desire for more knowledge to improve whatever area in your life.” “I have complete control over the outcome that I want.” “Everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read Situational Ethics by Rick Jordan. Ep 30E30: Interview with Cliona O’Hara, Senior Inner Circle Coach for Bob Proctor
“My purpose is to help others find out their purpose and live to their truest and fullest potential in life. That's why I'm here.” – Cliona O’Hara In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Cliona O’Hara, a Senior Inner Circle Coach for Bob Proctor, about her success story. Moving to the US (from Derry) was something she never expected that would turn out great. She was able to establish her own business, make a name for herself as a coach, and still continuously help people achieve their own goals. Cliona is unstoppable. Know today what made her this formidable and how she pursued her genuine passion, personal development! Other topics discussed were: the power of tapping into your intuition, The Secret, autonomy inside the company, recovering from trauma, and many more. KEY TAKEAWAYS For Cliona, her motivation to strive harder is rooted in her tough childhood. Her family isn’t what you’d call perfect, and they also weren’t well off. She was aware of this and has wanted to escape. And so, she did everything to have a successful future. Cliona worked to earn extra money when she was a teenager. She sold uniforms when she was 12 and worked in a fashion store when she was around 15. It was hard work but she learnt so much from those around her. Go for the gold, always! When Cliona knew she wanted to set up her own business, there was no way of stopping her. She learned a lot when she worked and observed her mother grow their business. She sought for more resources and more mentors to learn from. They were all helpful, but it’s ‘The Secret’ that changed her life. The book came to her life at the right time—a time when she needed a miracle. She was recovering from a traumatic event and was feeling lost. The Secret was an eye-opener, the beginning of manifesting everything fulfilling in her life. It changed her mind set and her beliefs instantly for the better. As a very hands-on business owner, she sees that there’s autonomy. She wants her employees to be independent and resilient so they will be ready with whatever problem is thrown at them that day. Also, she wants to help them be better people too for themselves and their loved ones. Tune into your intuition. It’s what will lead you to ‘your’ path. For example, Cliona was always an Empath. It’s easy for her to communicate, whether it be to her team, her clients, or anyone. And she felt that this gift of hers must be shared with others too so everyone can also learn more about personal development and achieve more in life. BEST MOMENTS “I believe we, as humans, we're here to serve. We're here to serve each other and leave this earth better off.” “Challenges will pull the best out of you.” “I believe in autonomy and I believe people should be left to figure it out on their own and if they need help, ask for help.” “Like I said, if I don't know something or I'm not sure, I just ask and I get the answer right away. When I get quiet within myself, when I ask God for the answer, I get the answer right away.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Ep 90E90: Interview with Siobhan O'Brien
Music is Life, do you agree? We’ve heard of this adage over and over again, but today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, we put a new meaning to it. Our guest, Siobhan O'Brien, talks about her latest album ‘You Can’t Run Out of Love’, how she made it, and how it talks about the beauty of ‘change’ and phases in our lives. Siobhan has had so many ups and downs in life (which she also gladly shares in the episode) and she was hoping that through her love for music, she can inspire more people to take the leap and be unafraid to live the life they deserve. Listen in to know more about Siobhan’s works and journey as a musician now! KEY TAKEAWAYS The King’s Fool. Siobhan can’t even imagine how she lived her life 5 years ago—she was souninspired with no big plans for the future. Siobhan spent time evaluating herself and found a great passion for music and this led her to where she is now. She has vowed never go back to that kind of state again. Siobhan O’Brien just released her reassuring latest album, You Can’t Run Out of Love. This album talks about changes, transitioning, progress, and phases that we all experience. It’s about life and living. If you think you have the talent, then use it to help or support others. It gives Siobhan so much pleasure and fulfilment when she sees people come to her performance and hear how her music speaks to them. As long as she has the means, she’ll write, she’ll sing, and she’ll inspire people. Her strength in connecting with people through her music may have been influenced by her belief that everything is connected. She recognises that there is universal energy that exists in between things. Distance, separation, or space are nothing but terms and are illusionary. When you think of it, we are all one, if not just interconnected. BEST MOMENTS “If you don’t see how ridiculous everything is right now, I don’t think you’ll ever want ‘change’.” “We have not been taught to be just still and silent. We were taught to always get moving.” “If I have that ‘gift’, I have to give that out.” “We can all stand together against evil.” “Allow your children to daydream.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Listen to Siobhan’s latest album, You Can’t Run Out of Love. Ep 89E89: Autism and Special Parenting - Interview with Jude Morrow, Author, and Speaker
What’s life’s like be for an autistic person when they grow older? Our guest for today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, is Jude Morrow, a Speaker, an Author, and a Social Worker whose advocacy is to bring awareness to autism. Jude is diagnosed with Asperger Type Autism. And if he’s being honest, he’s experienced the unkindness in this world because of having such condition. So, in this episode, he puts everything into perspective for people like him, their families, and everyone else who just wants to be informed about it. There should be no need to exclude anyone. People with autism can have a happy family, careers and successful businesses too! Get inspired when you tune in. KEY TAKEAWAYS The worst feeling in the world is to be treated as an outcast. This is what living with autism has been like in this society for most, Jude has experienced it first-hand. Autistic people are different, but they deserve to have a normal life too. If more would learn more about autism, it would be easy for them to adjust to their environment. Jude is lucky to have found his voice now to bring awareness about autism. He has been using different platforms – books, blogs, speaking events, podcasts, etc. If you feel you know little, then approach experts and/or seek for resources. Jude believes his strength as a social worker is having a sensible discernment on things presented in front of him. Listen to your emotional heart and your logical mind. It has to be BOTH. Aside from maintaining a successful and fulfilling career, Jude is also a hands-on parent to his wonderful kid, Ethan. This is something other people don’t believe that can happen. BEST MOMENTS “Autism… is not a disease that needs to be cured.” “I am always good at working with people because I can see things objectively.” “I just wanted to be anyone else; I just wanted to be part of the gang.” “My brain only goes at two speeds and it’s in the speed of light which is 186,282 miles per second or ‘stop/sleep’.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read Why Does Daddy Always Look So Sad? Ep 88E88: Interview with Antra Boyd, a Registered Nurse Patient Advocate
“If I just show up and just be me… then what’s not to love?” – Antra Boyd Antra, the Co-Owner of the Connected Care Patient Advocates, is ready to inspire everyone tuning in on this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast. She talks to Mighty Pete about her chaotically fun childhood, her career journey (including her service to the military), and the number of testimonials from the people she has helped through her company. The healthcare system can be confusing for many. It can make it difficult for patients to maximise the help or treatment they’re getting if they don’t get given enough information. Antra is very passionate about this. With her knowledge and experience in the medical field, she makes sure each person gets the right support and guidance. Let’s listen in to know more about Antra’s advocacy today. KEY TAKEAWAYS When you have grown up with nine siblings and you’re also the eldest, then it’s not surprising that you are feisty yet dependable. Antra had a very interesting childhood. She learned how to be independent and adapt to her family situation early on. Sometimes, life does not require you to try hard or work hard; sometimes, it just wants you to show up. Antra realised that just being present in the moment can often be the only way to help yourself and others. Would you be okay despite…? Antra has learned how to be accepting, resilient, and hopeful no matter what life throws at her. Previously she always thought she was going nowhere because of her past traumas. This was not true at all. Be okay with not being always okay. There will be so many doors that will open for you, just you wait. There’s so much going on during a patient’s recovery period, not only physically but mentally. You have understand them, to help them heal. It’s key that medical practitioners offer genuine support as well as their medical expertise to patients to achieve wellness. Antra and her team ensure that each person is informed, get the best treatment, and don’t get stressed out by the technical stuff and the confusing healthcare system. As a surgical nurse, who understands the medical language, she wants to act as the intermediary and make everything comprehensible to each person. BEST MOMENTS “I was living my entire life through ‘fight or flight, and I was so stressed.” “If I don’t know the answer, it should occur to me to find the answer.” “If only people learn not to be afraid of their experience, that alone will change the world.” “We all have this innate knowingness.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read Dying To Be Me: My Journey from Cancer, to Near Death, to True Healing by Anita Moorjani. Ep 87E87: Jeannette Linfoot
From the travel/leisure sector to property investing to entrepreneurship, our guest Jeannette Linfoot has invaluable things to share. Jeannette proves to be a one-of-a-kind resource person as well as an incredibly successful woman in business to look up to. Listen to her career and businesses in detail, as well as intriguing personal stories on this episode of Fire in The Belly. KEY TAKEAWAYS Jeannette wants to help all women excel in business. She has vast business experience including being the CEO in a large travel company. She has experienced (almost) everything in the corporate playbook and is fully aware many things need to be changed within the system. Also, there are things that we also need to learn so we can advance in our journey confidently. She adds that there are more women in the property world since it’s more flexible (because of parenthood, homemaking, etc.) compared to the corporate world. In the travel industry, there tends to be more female (around 65%) because of their traditional preference that cabin crews, travel agents, etc. be women. But when we take a look at their middle and senior management, the number of women in position is still noticeably low. Men still dominate the management positions. A business should have a strategic agenda to ensure business growth and also maintain a healthy organisational structure. If one intentionally aims for a diverse board of management and/or thoroughly built a pipeline, policies, and plans, then there’s nowhere to go but up. An indestructible mindset is the real deal. Work on yourself inside out so you can get the results you’re aiming for. According to Jeannette, our values and beliefs are entrenched to our behaviours and attitude around everything, including wealth. So, if you already believe that you’re meant for it, then you are. Jeannette is a mentor as well as a mentee. It has made a massive difference in her life to have someone guide her in decision making, so she wants to do the same for others. She shares that there’s so much fulfilment in seeing someone flourish and see their optimum potential. BEST MOMENTS “We bring different things to the party and is absolutely no reason whether you're female, gay, straight, black, white, that you shouldn't be able to be in a very senior role in any organisation.” “And so, I think the mindset is at the heart of absolutely everything. It's everything in life, not just in business, career, relationships.” “It can blow you off track… I think if you're overly concerned about where everyone else is thinking about you and your ego. What really matters is what's inside and what of you people that are close to you, your loved ones, think.” “It’s much more agile learning from someone’s [a mentor’s] life and their business experience. They may have tried a similar path to yours” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about Jeannette Linfoot’s careers and businesses here: https://www.jeannettelinfootassociates.com/ Read The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle.
