Ep 193Rating Disney Movie Theories

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, Disneyland announced the Main Street Electrical Light Parade, Disneyland Forever, and World of Color coming back to Disneyland on April 22, and Fantasmic will return May 28. Across the country, Flower and Garden in Epcot starts on March 2. The menu this year sees the return of a lot of favorites along with some exciting new delicacies! Several rides are going to be moving off of Lightning Lane and to Disney Genie+ including Frozen Ever After, Space Mountain, and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Rail. And the big news this week is the media embargo ended on the media previews, so there’s tons of information out there finally about the Galactic Starcruiser, and real experiences (however, they were all free experiences without the hefty price tag, so keep that in mind). This week, we talk about the plausibility of various fan theories about your favorite Disney films and rate them from 1-5 ears. Is there some secret government conspiracy to protect the identities of the littlest Incredibles? Is Moana actually dead? Are the toys in Toy Story a manifestation of their owner’s personalities? Tune in to find out more about these interesting theories and to hear a few more. Then let us know on our Facebook, Enchanted Ears Podcast, if you agree with our ratings. Thank you for listening in and as always, have a magical week! Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

What does it take to be a Disney princess? Who are the princesses? Who got the boot? Ep 190The Future of the MCU

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney! This week in Disney News, parades are officially coming back to the Magic Kingdom! The Festival of Fantasy parade will be returning March 9th! Across the pond in Paris, they'll have a new drone show for their 30th anniversary along with some new iridescent costumes for Mickey and Minnie that are everything! Finally, Disney announced their next live-action movie: The Aristocats. The MCU is ever-changing and ever-growing. With phase 1 complete, we contemplate where we see it going from here, especially after Spiderman: No Way Home. We discuss a little bit about what we thought of the newest Spiderman movie, and then turn to what the ramifications are going forward in the MCU. Everything has been blown wide open. Without the TVA, it's possible there will be major changes to the new branch realities. Matthew Murdoch will be appearing again for sure in the Armor Wars series. Dr. Strange will face consequences of his decision to help Peter, which definitely damaged the fabric of reality. Plus, we see the possibility for stories from other universes already in Shang-Chi. Thank you as always for tuning in. Have a magical week! Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

Ep 186Bad MCU Movie Reviews

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we talk anything and everything Disney! This week in Disney news, Typhoon Lagoon finally reopened on January 2 (only for Blizzard Beach to close for refurbishment). Spiderman: No Way Home has now passed 600 million domestically and over 1 billion worldwide with no sign of slowing down. Disneyland Paris’s Disneyland Hotel will be getting a royal makeover. It’ll now be prince and princess themed. This week, we play guess the Marvel movie based on the terrible IMDB review. Let’s just say that people go HARD on their negative reviews, making us often question if we even watched the same movie. Also, many people get quite poetic, likening watching some of the best movies to going to the DMV or watching a “Horrible Hannah Montana Episode.” See how well you can guess along with us and laugh along the way. We hope you’re having a very Happy New Year filled with more magic and Disney! Have a magical week! Ep 185You Can Only Keep One: Buzzfeed Edition

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney! This week in Disney News, Spider-Man: No Way Home is making ALL the money! If you haven’t seen it yet, what are you doing!? Speaking of fantastic movies, Encanto will be out on Disney+ on December 24! A building permit of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Rail in Disneyland reveals there will be three additional scenes! More Chuuby perhaps? (Crossing fingers and toes!) And finally, select tours will be coming back to Disney World in February. YAY! Get your boxing gloves out because this week, we bring back “You can only keep one.” In this special Buzzfeed edition, we list 4 themed options and choose which to keep and which three we’d let go. We debate which princess, leading lady who isn’t a princess, leading man, sidekicks, villains, Disney parent, fairy, cat, and bird we would save, while allowing the souls of the others to swirl down into Hades’ pit for the rest of eternity. I may have to dive in Hercules-style to save a few though...it’s SO hard to pick just one! We’re going to take a week off here, so we hope you have a wonderful holiday season! We’ll be back in the beginning of January with more fun Disney-related content. Have a magical holiday and Happy New Year! This time, Angela picks lands/areas in the Disney World Parks, and Joe tries to guess. Keep track as you play along and see if you can beat Joe’s (very beatable) score. We also discuss home much money it would take for us to never step foot in another Disney theme park again. Thank you for listening, Happy Holidays, and have a magical week!

Ep 183Disney‘s Planned Ski Resort

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, people are doing a happy dance now that Disney's announcement that parking trams are coming back to the Magic Kingdom in Disney World. And also, Amy Pascal, the producer of Spider-Man, said they're actually working on another Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland. Yay!!! Whoosh! That's the kind of noise you'd expect to hear as Walt Disney flew past you on the slopes, and the sound you might expect to have heard at Disney's Ski Resort. Yes, you read that right, Disney almost built a ski resort in California. We discuss the plans to create a whole town that included a hotel, movie theater, ice rinks, golf course, dining, lifts, and eventually what put the kibosh on those plans. It's pretty impressive that the matter of the Mineral King resort actually went all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States...hint, that's not actually what stopped the plans though! Ep 182Top Rated Restaurants in Disney World

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney! This week, our news comes from Destination D23 in Orlando, which centered around the news of all of the things that will be opening in 2022, but with no exact dates. The Festival of Fantasy Parade and Fantasmic will be returning! Guardians of the Galaxy will open. The second Avengers Campus will be opening in Paris in the summer. And in a surprising twist, Disneyland will be getting Magic Bands! The news interestingly did not include an announcement that Tron will be opening in 2022, which makes us wonder if they'll save it until 2023. It's amazing all of the good food there is to be had at Disney if you only know where to find it! For example, did you know you can get chicken and donuts for dinner? How about a meatless crab cake sandwich? Neither did we! This week, since many of our American listeners are still probably eating leftovers from their Thanksgiving feasts, we decided to make the episode all about food. Using touringplans.com's food rankings for table service and quick service in every park, we discuss where are the best places to eat, where we love to eat, and where we're anxious to try on our next trip! Then we also highlight some food items from various menus that tickled our fancy. (That's a weird expression, isn't it? How does one tickle a fancy?) We hope you had an exceptional, and magic-filled week last week and an even better one this week! Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney! This week, our news is our main topic, but first, we have a correction from last week. Ep 179Ranking Disney World‘s Park Icons

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney! This week in Disney News, Gal Gadot was cast to play the Evil Queen in the live-action remake of Snow White. Disney also released what their RunDisney springtime surprise races will be and their lengths. There are definitely some shockers and let-downs. When you step into any Disney World park, you are bound to come face-to-concrete with that park's icon (unless you're in Hollywood Studios that is). The park icons, The Hollywood Tower Hotel, Spaceship Earth, Tree of Life, and Cinderella Castle, are everywhere. They're on merch, signs, and now have really nice new lighting packages for the 50th. So this week, we take some time to share some quick facts about them and what makes them special. Then, we power rank them to definitively say what's the best park icon overall! Disagree with us? Let us know why we under/overvalued certain park icons on our Facebook, Enchanted Ears! And if you have a suggestion for an upcoming episode, feel free to tell us there or on our website enchantedears.com! Have a magical week and thank you so much for listening! Ep 178Top Ten Scariest Disney Movies

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney! This week in Disney news, Disney’s Tik Tok has been sending major hints that the Electric Light Parade might be returning to Disneyland by posting pictures of the snail float! Let’s hope this hints at even more entertainment returning to all the parks soon! Marvel pushed back their release dates for most of the upcoming movies starting with Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Lastly, if you haven’t already, be sure to check out the Fort Wilderness Golf Cart Parade photos from this year. They’re QUITE impressive and make us want to go down to see it in person! Since Halloween was yesterday, we scoured the archives and dug up what we think are the 10 creepiest Disney movies. It’s funny when you think about it, but Disney doesn’t stray as far away from fear as you’d think, and sometimes, they even embrace the things that make us feel chills in our bones. Whether it’s the overtly scary imagery of a cursed skeleton crew or more subtle horror like that of the severe psychological trauma of thinking you killed your own parent, Disney knows how to give you the creeps. We hope you had a Happy Halloween, and you have a magical week! Ready to book your next trip? Contact Becky from Castle Dreams Travel at [email protected] and let her know Enchanted Ears sent you. Ep 177Disney World‘s 50th Anniversary Trip Recap

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. We've got a long one for you this week about our trip, but first, we have some Disney News. Disney Genie and Disney Genie+ launched last week after Joe and I left Disney. It gives you ride times, allows you to purchase rides on premium attractions, and can even tell you if you can walk up to eat at a restaurant. Pretty cool, right? Disneyland Paris announced the return of parades with "Mickey's Dazzling Christmas Parade." Also, over in Animal Kingdom, the Merry Menagerie Puppets will make a return this year, and in EPCOT, the Candlelight Processional will also be back! We went to Disney World two weeks ago, and boy do we have a lot to say about it. Instead of our normal trip recap, we decided to focus on the 50th Anniversary celebration, the new attractions/features in the park, and Food and Wine. If you're going down to Disney any time during the 50th, we definitely have a few pointers as crowd levels have gone up significantly since the last few times we've been there. We have some hot takes on Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, this year's Food and Wine, Harmonious, Enchantment, Kite Tales, Steakhouse 71, and Space 220. Rounding off today's episode, we also discuss finally getting to go to Boma and Ghirardelli. Finally! And giving up our reservations to sit at the counter at Beaches and Cream! Ep 176Imagineering Ways to Add Luca to the Parks

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney! Our Disney news is brief this week. We went to Disney over the weekend, so this has been recorded in advance! Our one shred of Disney news is that Disney Genie drops on October 19th. We LOVE the parks so much, but the one big issue we see with them is the new properties are all but absent. This is, of course, for a number of awesome reasons. Still, this week we decided to play a little with incorporating Luca into the parks. We discuss where we think it would fit best and then how we would build it out. Let's just say that Luca fits in so perfectly, we couldn't help but give it multiple attractions and a restaurant. Thank you so much for listening. If you have any suggestions of other properties you'd love to see in the parks, let us know on our Facebook, Enchanted Ears. Have a magical week! Ep 175Disney Villains Dinner Party

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where us two, party animals discuss anything and everything Disney and occasionally throw imaginary dinner parties for some very special dishonored guests. This week in Disney News, more entertainment is coming back to parks! Character meet and greets, the Indiana Jones Stunt Show, and other forms of in-park entertainment will slowly start returning to the parks over the next few months. Also, Disney rumor mill is that Marvel will be making a show for Disney+ centered around Catherine Han’s Agatha from WandaVision! We’re so excited to hopefully see Agatha return to Disney+! This week, we decided to give the ol' imagination a workout and think about who we'd like to invite to a dinner party of Disney Villains. We took a number of things into account like how interesting the conversation would be, keeping the interactions civil among our guests, who would provide the most entertainment, who would be helpful with the meal, who could really get the party bumpin', and so much more! Let's just say both of our parties would be lit! Be sure to head on over to Facebook and tell us who you would like to invite to your very own Disney Villains dinner party and why, and as always, thanks for listening! Have a magical week! Ep 174The Best Themed Land at a Disney Park

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, Disney definitely heard Angela complain about there not being enough new food offerings for the 50th so overnight, they created 150 new food items to serve. Disney also announced MagicBand+, a new magicband for the 50th that has interactive features and lights up! For those of us who couldn't be at the 50th celebration, Disney also streamed Harmonious and Disney Enchantment! And finally, we got our first peaks at the Galactic Starcruiser as well as an opening date! Let's say we're both cautiously optimistic. This week, we power rank the different lands of Disney. In this list, we've included the newer lands developed for Disneyland and Disney World: Pandora, Galaxy's Edge, Toy Story Land, Cars Land, Avengers Campus, and Pixar Pier. We approach ranking them by examining the attractions, food, atmosphere, architecture, and our overall favorite. We definitely were surprised with our results! When you're finished listening, be sure to head on over to our Facebook page, Enchanted Ears, to let us know how you'd rank the lands. Have a magical week! Ep 173Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Preview

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, we have an update on lines at Rise of the Resistance since it officially switched from having a virtual boarding group to a standby line last week. We're very much looking forward to Disney+ Day on November 12, where we're getting new shows, seasons of shows we love, movies are being released, and we're getting a sneak peak into the future of Star Wars and Marvel! Finally, if you're unable to make it to the 50th anniversary celebration (or you just can't wait), Disney will be live streaming Harmonious and Disney Enchantment at the end of this month! This week, we talk about how Disney's celebrating the 50th anniversary in Disney World! There's a lot of new restaurants, decorations, rides, cavalcades, and the return of some parties that'll help kick off the 50th in style. (And seriously, in style...did you see the characters' new iridescent costumes?!) But, it wouldn't be a celebration of 50 years if we didn't do a little dive into where Disney World started! No way! So, we also discuss the park's origins, how much it would've cost you to get in when it opened, and what is original to the park. When you're finished listening, don't forget to swing on over to our Facebook page, Enchanted Ears, to let us know what you're most excited about when it comes to the upcoming celebration! Ep 172Terrible Reviews for Our Favorite Movies

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney! This week in Disney News, Rise of the Resistance at Hollywood Studios is "temporarily pausing" the virtual boarding groups. It's an interesting choice with the 50th about to commence, so we discuss why they may have chosen now to do this. The Finding Nemo stage show at Animal Kingdom won't be returning in its current form. AND OH MY GOSH, DUFFY GOT A NEW FRIEND!!!! LinaBella is a curious fox and she's ADORABLE! This week, we bring to you a delightful game of "Guess the movie based on the bad IMDB review." Seriously, we haven't had this much fun recording an episode in a while because honestly...the things people say about some of our favorite movies are so absurd, we can't even be that mad. Play along with Angela and try to guess which of your favorite movies someone eviscerated for no particular reason other than they were bored. Thank you for listening! Have a magical week! Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

Ep 171ReImagineering Hollywood Studios

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we talk about anything and everything Disney! This week we be re-Imagineering the Hollywood studios, but first, Disney News! The new Creation Shop and Club Cool will be opening in EPCOT this week on September 15! Expedition Everest will be closed for extended refurbishment for 3 months starting in January. And finally, we got some additional casting for Haunted Mansion: Owen Wilson and Rosario Dawson. We are so excited to share with you how we’d re-Imagineer the Hollywood Studios. Fresh slate, money’s no object. Hollywood Studios is a nice park that is no longer cohesive, so we completely revamp it putting the idea of history and Hollywood at its heart. We even go as far as to change the layout of the park. Some of our ideas include fixing Galaxy’s Edge and changing Toy Story Land to be more of a Pixar Land. Then we add a Marvel Land, Fox Land, and an old Hollywood area. We also have ideas for new eateries and experiences that would make this more of a full-day park! And seriously Disney, if you’d like to hire us full time or as consultants, we’d be more than willing to give you ideas (or you can just listen to this podcast where we give them to you for free). Thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

Ep 170Jungle Cruise vs. Pirates of the Caribbean (Film Version)

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, the 50th anniversary magic bands are/were back in stock. You best believe we snatched a pair while we could. The signs for the lightning lanes have started going up in Disney World. And the annual passes for Disney World were announced. We go over the different types. This week we compare and contrast The Jungle Cruise to Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. On the surface level, these movies have a LOT in common: they’re both based on rides in the Disney parks, there’s an element of immortality gained by stealing from native people, and you have at least one major movie star attached to the movie. But that’s pretty much where the comparisons stop. We explain why we think Pirates works better as the first movie of a franchise, and where we think The Jungle Cruise falls short. Thanks again to Breanna S. for the question that we definitely over-answered. And thank you listeners for listening to us prattle on about Disney-related things week-in-and-week-out. Ep 169Disneyland vs. Disney World Attraction Showdown

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week we have a battle royale between Disneyland and Disney World, but first, we have some news. This week in Disney News, it was Princess Week, and we FINALLY got our first peek into the Splash Mountain redo featuring Tiana! The artwork that will be inspiring the ride shows Tiana and an ultimate Mardi Gras celebration. It’s certainly a party we want to be invited to! The NBA experience closed for good at Disney Springs. Disney will be developing a retirement community at Lake Nona. Joe and I already bought a piggy bank to start saving up. And the Spiderman: No Way Home trailer dropped. It seems to have a very different feel than the other Spiderman movies, and the trailer raises more questions than it answers. This week, we take the most popular rides featured in the Magic Kingdom over in Disney World and pit them against their counterparts in Disneyland. The rides are Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Small World, and Pirates of the Caribbean. We discuss some of the differences between the rides in both parks (there are so many subtle differences). Then we pick our favorites, which is a lot harder than you may think. Thank you so much for tuning in and listening to us blather on about something we both love. Have a magical week! Ep 168Disney Genie+ and the Death of FastPass

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your place for anything and everything Disney. This week, we scrapped our main topic in favor of Disney News because (plays "Taps" in the background) Fastpass is dead. Disney's "new" app and system to replace it is confusing and complicated, so we explain it during the episode. Disney Genie is an app for helping you plan out your day. It'll give you estimated wait times, provide a place to mobile order, help you get in line in virtual queues, and assist you in planning out your day. It basically has the same functionality as the My Disney Experience App. So not that complicated right? Wrong. You can also purchase Genie+ to help you jump the lines on many rides or further, purchase access to Lightning Lanes to get on the top tier attractions. So how do you do it? What's included? Do you need Genie+ to get Lightning Lanes? We answer it all in this podcast, while also talking about what we think the impact of these decisions will be. Should people really be mad? What do we think, if done correctly, the impact on the lines will be? And what's the biggest issue with all the changes that people are missing? There's so much to unpack, and we appreciate you being here with us for it! Please, feel free to send us any additional questions on our Facebook page EnchantedEars. We'll answer them on a future show. And as always, have a magical week! Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

Ep 167You Can Only Keep One: Disneyland Edition

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney! Holy news this week! Buckle in! We got our first look inside the new Space 220 Restaurant and wow does it look cool (and like it belongs inside Galaxy's Edge). Speaking of previews, we got a peek of the music for EPCOT's new show, Harmonious. We joke about how we'll probably love it despite the amount of trash talk we've dished about the alien vessels in the middle of the lake. And oh my...the pricing for the Christmas after-hours event at Disney World, uninspiringly named Disney Very Merriest After-Hours Event, has been released. You may be merry until you see the cost that is! This week we do another rendition of "You can only keep one." This Disneyland Edition has us choosing between the most popular mountains, biggest attractions in DCA, best desserts, original rides, shows, and more! Let us know on our Facebook what you agree with and what we got totally wrong...we couldn't even agree with each other on some of them. Have a magical week! Ep 166Disney+ Marvel Series

Hello and bienvenidos to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, there's been SO MUCH pricing news it's been bonkers! We learned about the new annual pass system at Disneyland called Magic Key, the suggested pricing for the Galactic Starcruiser (aka the Star Wars hotel), and how much the Magical Express replacement service through Mears is going to cost. Talking about all of this makes my wallet feel famished. This week is a major SPOILER ALERT for anyone not up-to-speed on all of the Marvel shows on Disney+, as we talk about WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki and definitely reveal some of the big secrets. We don't give you a play-by-play of everything, but instead favor talking about what about the shows worked and didn't work, the impact all of this will have on the MCU, how the MCU is going to continue when the lore behind it seems to be growing faster than the number of actors on the MCU's payroll, and probably a lot of things I'm forgetting right now. We'd love to hear your thoughts too about the direction the MCU is headed and the new shows/movies coming out in the next phase! To do that, head on over to our Facebook page Enchanted Ears! Ep 164The Muppets

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week we’re going to talk all about the Muppets, but first, there’s some news to share! This week in Disney News, Disney World announced this year’s Christmas party, Disney Very Merriest After Hours Event. This 4 hour event will even have...wait for it...fireworks! Yay! Also, for the holidays, Disney’s bringing back projection mapping for the holidays in Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. Gingerbread houses will also be returning to resorts. And now for this weeks topic: the Muppets! Muppets are so much more than puppets. They have such a long and crazy history, we decided to do a whole episode about them, and we just scratch the surface. In this episode, we, of course, talk about Jim Henson and how he eventually worked his creations, the Muppets, into a cultural phenomenon. Have you ever wondered how a Muppet is controlled? We answer that question for you! From there, we discuss how Disney got involved and ended up eventually acquiring the Muppets. Thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Ep 163Is Disney Too Expensive?

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. After some recent news regarding added costs at the parks, we’re going to discuss whether Disney’s getting too expensive. Recently, Disney’s announced many changes that benefit guests who are willing to spend even more for their Disney experience. These changes include evening magic hours for deluxe and DVC guests, random character meet and greets in DVC hotels, and Disneyland Paris new FastPass system called Premier Access. We discuss the pros of these changes, but also the not-so-glamourous side of what’s definitely Disney trying to recoup their losses and make some green. In our discussion, we also talk ticket prices of today compared to the past, prices compared to Universal, and cutting annual passes at Disneyland. Thank you as always for taking us with you wherever you are. Have a magical week! Ep 162Spike the Bee

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week we’re going to talk all about Spike the Bee but first, let’s talk about a little Disney News. Marvel’s back in the theaters and with quite an impressive showing. Black Widow had smashing numbers for its first weekend both in theaters and on Disney+. Disneyland announced they’ll be having their Oogie Boogie Bash for this Halloween. And we’ll even get...a PARADE! If you’ve ever been to Flower and Garden, you’ve surely seen a precocious little bee poking his head up among the beautiful flowers. Spike the Bee, the other non-avian mascot, for Flower and Garden has quite the interesting history. This week we talk origins (and it goes back QUITE a ways), character designs, and probably the best part, exactly when Spike first appeared. (The answer isn’t cut and dry, and there’s a bit of a debate.) Thank you as always for taking us with you wherever you are. Have a magical week! Ep 160Director Kevin Lima

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast! Do we have a treat for you today! We interviewed Kevin Lima, director of A Goofy Movie, 102 Dalmatians, and Enchanted. And co-director of Tarzan. If that sounds impressive to you, wait until you hear what he had to say! This week in Disney News, Disney revealed all of the wonderful events that will be taking place throughout their 50th celebration including a new light show that's sure to be illuminating, dancing animal kites, and interactive character statues. Disney also announced their selection of Rachel Zeglar as their new Snow White for the upcoming live-action adaptation. Finally, Scarlett Johansson will be producing the new Tower of Terror movie. It was a huge honor and privilege to talk to Kevin Lima this week, who had one of the most interesting and inspiring tales we've heard to date. During our interview, Lima talks about his origins from his hard childhood to his passion for drawing to his "never say never" attitude that started at a young age. When things didn't go his way and Disney hired nobody from his graduating class, he took lemons and made lemonade, moving to Taiwan to work for a company on Brave Little Toaster. But, eventually, Disney did start hiring again, and he got to go work for the company during the very beginning of the Disney Renaissance. His confidence and positive attitude eventually landed him the gig as director of A Goofy Movie, a movie that he wasn't necessarily chomping at the bit to direct, but turned into a labor of love. Eventually, Lima switched from directing animated to live action movies. We also learned some of the difficulties of the movie business and being a director. Lima was a fantastic well of information and also motivation. Thank you again, Kevin, and thank you for listening. If you're new to the podcast, don't forget to subscribe and leave a rating. Ep 159Walt Disney World 2021 Trip Recap

Hello there! Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we like to share all things Disney. This week we had the pleasure of having a super special guest and talking about our latest trip to Disney. But before we dive into that, let's talk a little Disney news. The big news this week is many of the remaining restrictions from covid are starting to be lifted from the parks. And in the most exciting news of all, fireworks are coming back! Also, Pixar's Luca came out last Friday, and we LOVED it! We promise we won't give you any spoilers, but still give you our take on the movie. We had a blast recording this week because our "guest" was none other than Bill (Joe's dad), who joined us on our last trip to Disney World. As he will tell you many times during our interview, he represents the AARP generation and can give you a fresh perspective on the parks. :) We discuss what we did, what we ate (and didn't eat), who we did (and didn't) see, how this trip differed from our last ones, and our favorite moments. We'd like to give a special thanks to Bill for doing pretty darn well on his first podcast, and also for just being a great dad! We love you! Don't forget to let us know what you think by leaving a glowing review. And tune in next week for our interview with Kevin Lima! Have a magical week! Ep 158Aaron H Goldberg Author of Buying Disney's World

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your premier podcast for anything and everything Disney. This week, we have a great interview in store for you, but first, the important news! Disney is updating its mask policy. As of June 15, Disney will only require vaccinated individuals to wear masks on public transit. Also, due to the demand for the Boo Bash, Disney added more dates. Behind the Attraction, Disney's new show showcasing everyone's favorite park rides, will debut on Disney+ on June 16th. And finally, Luca, will be available on Disney+ on June 18th! We're so excited to bring you our interview with Aaron H. Goldberg, the author of several books including Buying Disney's World, The Disney Story, Meet the Disney Brothers, and The Wonders of Walt Disney World. Among so many things, Aaron shares with us his inspiration for writing Meet the Disney Brothers, a children's book that draws attention to the critical role Roy played in the development of the Disney legacy. We also talk about how Disney acquired a lot of the land for Disney World, which Goldberg covers in Buying Disney's World which includes mail-order land purchases and receiving aid from a CIA agent. Yes...a CIA agent. We'd love to thank Aaron Goldberg for the incredible interview. Please be sure to check out his books on aaronhgoldberg.com or Amazon. Have a magical week! Ep 157Purchasing DVC Resale

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your place for anything and everything Disney! This week, we talk about Disney Vacation Club (DVC), particularly why we decided to buy in. If you're interested to learn more about DVC, check out episode 56, where we do a deep dive into what, exactly, DVC is. But first, let's talk about that all-important Disney news. Disneyland will be opening to out-of-state guests on June 15th! We can't wait to head there to check out the amazing new Avengers Campus. Also, the pricing for Disney After Hours Boo Bash is out and man, Disney didn't pull any punches. The event is 2 hours shorter than Mickey's-Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but it costs more! Around January, we decided we go to Disney enough to make buying DVC through the resale market worthwhile. We talk about how we purchased, why we decided resale, which hotel we bought into, and how many points we settled on among some other things that might be helpful to you if you've ever considered buying DVC or just want to know what it's all about. Then, we talk to Linda Smit, our agent from DVC Resale Market and a veteran DVC seller. Since she's been a part of selling since the very first DVC property opened, she's a fantastic source of information on the topic. During our interview, she gives us a fabulous insight into how to buy DVC, the advantages of buying, the pros and cons of buying resale vs. straight from Disney, when to buy, the approximate amount of points you may need, and so much more! Thanks again to Linda for taking the time to let us interview her. If you're interested in DVC, you can reach Linda at [email protected] or 352-223-9600. Have a magical week! Ep 156Disability at Disney Founder Gray Houser

Hello and welcome back to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, one of your top (ten?) favorite podcasts. Number one Disney one though, right? This week in Disney News, Matterhorn Mountain’s at the precipice of opening...okay not really, but the pun was nice, right?! It’ll be opening on July 2nd. Over in Disney World, the Grand Floridian will be opening up more rooms to DVC members. And in least welcome news of the week, the animatronics in the Three Caballeros ride in the Mexico pavilion are fixed just in time for us to go down to Disney and not get to make fun of the cardboard cutouts. This week we're delighted to share our interview with Gray Houser, the man behind Monorailnews.com and Disabilityatdisney.com. Gray does a fabulous job at both reporting the latest and greatest Disney news and helping other people with disabilities get around at Disney. He shares some of his tips and tricks with us and tells the crazy story of how he, while at Disney World, lost total vision in his left eye. (Let's just say that Disney handled the whole situation with the aplomb and expertise you'd only expect from...well...Disney.) This episode gives us the warm and fuzzies because Disney really goes to infinity and beyond in ways that many don't even understand. Thank you again to Gray for being on the show. Be sure to check out his websites monorailnews.com and disabilityatdisney.com for more about him, Disney, and how to navigate Disney if you yourself have a disability or you'll be traveling with someone who does. Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney news, Disney Paris finally receives an opening date! Hooray!!! Also, the new Disney’s Hotel New York- The Art of Marvel is set to open this year. The Avengers campus food looks incredible over at Disneyland in California! We can’t wait to go and get the Cosmic Creme Orb and the Impossible Victory Falafel! Also, the new Spiderman ride Web Slingers will be selling merch that can be used in ride. Smart, Disney. Take our money now. This week, we talk about the worst, as in not very good, Disney villains. Which villains fall just a little bit short of being intimidating, well thought out, or just bot fitting that mustache-twirling evil villain that were so used to. Please let us now on social media (Enchanted Ears on Facebook and enchantedearspodcast on Instagram) whether you agree or disagree, and let us know which villains we missed. Ep 154Disney Legend Tom Nabbe Part 2

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week we’re honored and excited for you to hear the second part of our interview with Disney Legend, Tom Nabbe. But before we get to that, let’s talk about that all-important Disney News. Since getting rid of annual passes when COVID hit, Disneyland hasn’t reinstituted the system. Instead, they’re starting a new punch card system (much like a froyo place) where you’ll get a reward after so many visits. And over at Disney World, under the cover of darkness last Friday night, they removed the requirement to wear masks outside. However, you still must wear a mask entering the park, in lines, and on rides. In this second installment of our interview with Tom Nabbe, we discuss Nabbe’s move to Disney World and his role on the Monorail. There were a lot of early issues and interesting specs Imagineers had to consider. We also talk about EPCOT of today vs. what Walt had in mind, Green Mail and Mike Eisner, getting his own window on Main Street, becoming a Disney Legend, how much merchandise Disney sells through in a day, and much much more! Thank you so much for for listening. Please be sure to check out Tom Nabbe’s website and book From Disneyland's Tom Sawyer to Disney Legend: The Adventures of Tom Nabbe Have a magical week! Ep 153Disney Legend Tom Nabbe Part 1

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week we’re honored and excited for you to hear our interview with Disney Legend Tom Nabbe. But before we get to that, let’s talk about that all-important Disney News. The Galactic Star Cruiser is set to now open in 2022. The Disney College Program will return this summer! And instead of Mickey’s-Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Disney World announced it’ll have Boo Bash, a scaled-down event with characters and cavalcades. Tom Nabbe proved to be such a fabulous source of information, we’re excited to bring to you part one of our two part interview this week! In this portion, we talk about Nabbe’s humble beginnings at the park going from selling papers, to convincing Walt to let him play Tom on Tom Sawyer’s Island. When he aged out of that awesome position, Nabbe moved to Skipper on the Jungle Cruise and we get some fabulous insight on what it’s like to do that crazy cool job. We finish up when Nabbe moved to WDW for the opening of the Monorail. Mr. Nabbe also provides really interesting insight into what it was like working for Walt Disney and how to advocate for yourself to get what you want. Thank you so much for for listening. Ep 152Ranking the Countries in EPCOT

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your favorite place for all kinds of Disney information and tomfoolery. This week in Disney news, the Disney Wish recorded presentation was released this week, and let’s just say, we’ve never wanted to go on a cruise so bad in our lives. (Oh and destinations do not matter...it’s that cool.) Everything looks incredible from the shows, to the attractions, to the dining experiences. Disney released its special food items for May the 4th, and they look out of this world! Hopefully, you’ll be in the parks in the next few days though because their availability is extremely limited. Also, Disneyland, after being closed for well over a year, finally reopened its gates on April 30th!!! It was beautiful to watch the cast members line Main Street as the guests walked in. This week we rank the 11 countries in EPCOT based on a number of categories. Food, as always, is discussed as well as the shows, shopping, architecture, and overall experience. Ep 151Running Coast to Coast with Don Muchow

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we talk about anything and everything Disney. This week we were honored to chat with Don Muchow, the runner and Type 1 Diabetic who recently completed his transcontinental run across the US that went through both Disneyland and Disney World! But first, we had a bit of Disney News. The People Mover reopened this week after it's lengthy closure! Even Stitch had to give it a ride! Also, the king is returning! The Festival of The Lion King actors have begun rehearsing to resume their live shows! And in our last bit of news, the Matterhorn will be joining the string of Disney rides that have their own movie/TV show! Running across the United States is quite a feat (no pun intended), so when we heard about Don, his cause, and how he wove both Disney Parks into his journey, we knew we had to talk to him! We ask Don about his incredible mission, planning his trip, mapping his course, the hardest part of it all, how covid impacted his run, how often he had to refuel, how many pairs of shoes he went through, what it felt like to run into Disney World to a huge celebration (and not getting kicked off the property!), and much, much more. Don enlightens us about so many things. Did you know that Disney collaborated with another company to create a Type 1 Diabetes mascot?! And, through Don, we learn what true grit, determination, and dedication to a cause and purpose look like. We really appreciated Don taking the time to talk to us, and we appreciate you for taking the time to listen! If you'd like to learn more about Don, his mission, or how to help folks living with Type 1 Diabetes, please check out his website at t1determined.org Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

Ep 149Disney Parks News

Welcome to The Enchanted Ears Podcast, your favorite place for the latest in Disney news and usually other Disney-related things...but this week my friends, it's all new is good news! (I think that might be our new favorite saying!) After being closed for over a year, Disneyland is in the process of reopening. Those who had a one-day ticket can start making their reservations today, April 12th! Later this week, ticket sales will then open up to California residents! We also go over ticket prices and rides that won't be opening. Also over in Cali, the Avengers campus is set to open June 4th. It will be complete with amazing experiences and rides that are sure to blow our minds, especially after staring at the same wall in our house for over a year. Runner, Ironman athlete, and all-around baller Don Muchow completed his run from coast to coast this past week. Of course, when Disney found out he went included Land and World in his path, they greeted him with fanfare, merch, and a whole lotta Disney magic! Disney World announced that they are no longer requiring masks to be worn for photos, a topic that sounds both great and a little scary considering it's likely to complicate guest-management. In not-so-shocking-news, Mears announced their connection service from the airport to Disney World, cue the choir singing "Hallelujah." Creations Shop will be opening at Epcot this summer where the old Mouse Gear used to be. It sounds like a bright, airy place with a funky, Mickey-heavy vibe we can't wait to experience. Warning: Be sure to connect your Magic Bands to a credit card with a low limit before entering. Also, Disney has built a gosh-darn REAL lightsaber! 'Nuff said. Have a magical week! Ep 148Disney Decade: The 2010s

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your place for anything and everything Disney. This week we finish (for now) our series Disney Decade with 2010-2019. But before we get into that, let’s get to the news! Food and Wine starts early this year, going from July all the way to November. The cast for Obi-Wan Kenobi was announced and includes has some awesome names attached to it like Kumail Nanjiani, Sung Kang, and O’Shea Jackson Jr. Also, the new Bamboo Bar and Patio opened at Splitsville in Disney Springs. This decade was definitely one of the most prosperous in Disney’s history. Bob Iger led Disney through some massive acquisitions of Lucasfilm and Fox. Marvel explodes at the box office, which then seems to feed into all Disney properties owning the box office by the end of the decade. Many of the parks also go through massive improvements and new a new park even opens! If this was the 2020s, we could’ve called this the Roaring ‘20s. The Roaring 10s doesn’t have quite the same flare. Oh well. Thanks for tuning in. Share this podcast with your friends, relatives, and that person at work that you struggle to talk to. Ep 147Destino: A Disney Collab with Salvador Dali

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your favorite place to learn about the things you love and discover (hopefully) things you didn't know you will love. This week, we may have one of the latter for you, but first, there's quite a bit of news to cover. A while back, we learned that Disney would be changing The Jungle Cruise to make it more suitable for the times we live in. Last week, they announced that part of this change will be a new character named Alberta Falls (granddaughter to Albert Falls). She will be the owner and proprietor of The Jungle Cruise and, of course, has connections to SEA. There was quite a bit of movie news so here. we. go. Black Widow was pushed back yet again to July and will be available as a premium rental on Disney+. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was pushed back as well. Also, Luca, Pixar's next film, will be released on Disney+ just as Soul was: absolutely free. Lastly, Disney announced Disneyland Forward, a project that will rezone their existing property to allow them to expand the shopping, restaurants, and rides at Disneyland in California. This week, we're so excited to talk about "Destino" a short collaboration that was over 50 years in the making and allowed two of the greatest artistic visionaries of their time to create a beautiful work of art together. If you didn't already know, "Destino" is a project that was worked on by both Salvador Dalí, the famous surrealist painter of "The Persistence of Memory," and Walt Disney. It's available to watch on Disney+, so if you have a spare 6 minutes, be sure to check it out. Everything about this short, from the final product itself to how it finally got made, to Disney and Dalí's legendary first meeting is interesting so sit back, relax, and let us tell you a story. Thank you as always for tuning in. Don't forget to rate and review us on your favorite podcatcher. And as always, have a magical week! Ep 146Lost in Translation: Disney Quotes

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we talk everything and anything Disney. We have yet another fun one for you this week, but first, Disney news. It’s been a long time coming. Finally, Disneyland will be reopening to California natives only on April 30th. Huzzah! The 100 year archives exhibition is coming to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. As people who really want to visit the Disney Archives, you best believe we’ll be heading over there to check that out. Disney announced they’re working on a Magic Kingdom TV Universe (MKTU maybe?). In it, they plan to focus on the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (SEA). We haven’t done a game in a while, so this week we decided to start a new game that we hope to turn into a series called “Lost in Translation.” In it, we use Google translate to take some famous Disney quotes from known to poor clone. Turns out, when you take even the most familiar quotes through 2 languages and back to English, the results can be hilarious and downright unrecognizable. So play along with us as we enjoy trying to crack these crazy word puzzles. As always, thank you for listening in. Don’t forget to tell a friend about us and to leave us a review. You rock! Ep 145WandaVision & Raya and The Last Dragon

Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your place for Disney news, deep dives, and hot takes. This week we have a good one for you, but first, let’s get to that news! There’s a lot of it. In tangental to Disney news, Universal Studios announced they will be resuming construction on the new theme park called Epic Universe. Disneyland will be reopening late April to California residents. Unfortunately, Remi won’t be opening until October 1st for the 50th anniversary. Finally, Magic Mobile was announced, an app for your Apple Watch that’ll take the place of your Magic Band (if you so please). This week is SPOILER HEAVY as we talk about our opinions of Wandavision and Raya and the Last Dragon. We start with Wandavision. (Time stamp 10:44). We talk about some of the many theories that tied the series to the comic books, our thoughts, what worked, what didn’t work, and how we see it playing a role in the MCU as a whole. Then we finish with Raya and the Last Dragon (Time stamp 32:28). We discuss how stunning it was in many aspects, but also what it lacked that made the movie fall short for us of recent classics like Moana and Zootopia. Thank you so much as always for listening. Ep 144ReImagineering the Magic Kingdom

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your spot for anything and everything Disney! There’s lots of news this week, so better get into it! With restrictions easing up in California, talk of Disneyland reopening has ignited. Across the country, Disney Parks posted our first looks at the newly-renovated rooms at the Polynesian Resort, which pays great tribute to Moana without hitting you over the head with it. In keeping with the theme of the pandemic, Disney announces it will close 60 Disney stores across the US. Sunshine Tree Terrace revealed it’s beautiful new Orange Bird wall. Finally, Harmonious barges have invaded World Showcase Lagoon. (Seriously, they look like alien spaceships.) This week, we go through each section of the park, Main Street, Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, and Tomorrowland, and retool what the park would look like after a massive update from Disney's newest Imagineers: us! (To be clear, we are not Imagineers. We just thought it'd be fun to play one for a day!) We take some MASSIVE liberties by picking up and completely moving rides, magically creating a lot more space, and treating money as absolutely no object. And, heck, why not just make new lands altogether? Why not create a Frozen-themed restaurant? And for goodness sake, Disney, give the people what they want: more pie! (Or is that just me?) Let us know what you think on our Facebook page. Have a magical day! Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.
