Ep 292The Top Tours at Disney World
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Recently Disney announced they are shutting down the Disney Movie Club. We discuss what that means and how you might want to stop throwing away your DVDs. Walt Disney World is a place full of amazing experiences, some of which are more obscure. This week, we're discussing the various paid tours and experiences you can do in the Walt Disney World parks. We've done 4 of the 10 tours, so in this week's pod, we report briefly on our experiences. Then we explain the remaining tours we have not taken. To finish, we talk about which tours we'd like to redo and which of the tours we haven't taken yet, but would like to do based on the information presented. What are the most exciting tours? What tours give you the most bang for your buck? Listen in to find out! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 291Ranking Disney's Cancelled Attractions
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. We got our first look at the new Tiana animatronic and it looks beautiful. Plus, Disney filed permits to demolish the building of the short-lived NBA Experience. We speculate on what could be next for the location. Have you ever dreamed of riding a bantha? Walking through a Revolution-era town? Battling evil forces in a Quinjet in Wakanda? If you have, you're either an imagineer, or you stay up-to-date with all of the things Disney said they would build at one time, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. This week we talk canceled attractions or refurbishments and rank them based on how excited we would be to ride them if they were ever actually made. Ep 290Disney's Unsung Hero
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Universal Studios finally announced all of the lands in Epic Universe and we question what the reception will be like once the park opens. We love Walt Disney, and his name is synonymous with the Disney parks, movies, and company as a whole. But, today, we want to take a step back and pay some respects to one of the other, lesser known, Disney brothers: Roy O. Disney. Roy, ever his brother's companion and in many ways, his other half, doesn't always come up in the conversation. However, without Roy, there is some question as to whether Walt would've had the great success he did. So who was Roy Disney? And what did he do to make Walt's dream become a reality? Listen in and you'll see just why Roy deserves a little more credit than he often gets. And don’t forget to send us those Sea Shanties Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 289Everything We Ate At Disneyland
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Disney had their earnings release this week and had some surprise announcements including a new movie and another venture into gaming. When you're used to the Disney World parks, it can be a little overwhelming going over to Disneyland in Anaheim and figuring out just where you want to eat. But not to worry! We've got you covered. This week we review 9 different eating establishments on Disneyland property, including one 10/10, would return daily if we could, and one 1/10, avoid at (almost) all costs. Since we were with friends, thank you Jennifer and Keifer, we got an even larger variety of food than we usually do to talk about and even some drinks. So, maybe consider listening to this episode on your way to get food because after, you may want to eat! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 287Europe's Unoffical Disney Park
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, Meilin and Ming Lee are now doing a meet and greet in DCA for the Lunar New Year that looks top notch! Also, Mickey and Minnie's new fits for Lookout Key are bright and beautiful. What would you say if we told you there is a Disney Park in Germany? Some of you may say, cool. Some probably would start naming the parks and conclude that we've lost our minds! But, after this episode, you may be convinced that there's an unofficial/knockoff park that does come close to reproducing some of the magic that, if you're listening to this podcast, you know and love. Europa Park just might be the next park on your list because they have a mouse mascot, their own pilfering pirate boat ride, many highly-themed hotels, a Casper-haunted castle, and the list goes on...to the point that it sounds like, you've guessed it, we're describing a Disney Park. So travel with us to Rust, Germany and learn what this hubbub is all about. Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 286RunDisney Returns to Disneyland
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. A lot of Disney News dropped while we were away including the launch of the incredible Electrical Sky Parade over in Disneyland Paris. Plus, Imagineer Lanny Smoot was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame and showed off his latest invention, the Hallow Tile Floor. We speculate how Disney plans to use it. We're back from our 10K and 1/2 marathon races in Disneyland, and we're so ready to spill the tea about our first race on the west coast. When we registered for this race, we assumed RunDisney would run it (pun intended) the exact same way as the Disney World races, but boy were we wrong! We talk about why that is, what we really enjoyed about Disneyland, and what we missed about the larger Disney World races. Plus, we reveal the most important answer to the most important question IMHO, "What characters were there?" Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 284WestCOT: The Unbuilt Disneyland Expansion
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, subscribers of Disney+ will be able to get a free Disney dining plan. For all of the Figment fans out there, Festival of the Arts will feature a new Figment popcorn bucket this year which will certainly have you clamoring to EPCOT. We have one question for you. What if EPCOT wasn’t just in Disney World? What if Disneyland had their own version? What would you call it? Well, Disney almost called it WestCOT. This park was slated to be built in the early 90s until a number of factors got it cancelled. So what was going to be in the park? Was it an exact copy and paste of the existing park? Where was it going to go? We answer these questions and much more, so give us a listen! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 2832023 Predictions Recap
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, the Voyage of the Little Mermaid in Hollywood Studios will not be returning, and will instead reopen in Fall 2024 as Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure. Also, when changes come on January 9th to park hopping in WDW, virtual queing will change as well. Over in Disneyland, the Magic Happens parade will be returning shortly after the new year along with Wonderous Journeys. 2023 was a pretty good year, but maybe not for the crystal ball we borrowed from Madam Leota. In this episode, we recap our going-into-2023-predictions for Disney News. Although we definitely did NOT get some things right, like Disney World finally picking a retheme for the Dinoland section of Animal Kingdom, we were able to peek into the future in some small ways. See our very obvious prediction about Bob Iger’s contract extension. So give us a listen and hear about the year in review coupled with a few small predictions for 2024 and beyond. Ep 282Letters to Santa
Dear Santa, We have been very very good this year and think that for 2024, we would like a few things to make Disney a little more merry and bright. Could you help us out a bit? We have some simple requests like more shade and maybe bringing Gideon’s into the parks. But we also feel like our friend, the imaginative, but unfriendly-looking dragon, needs a little visit from the Botched TV show doctors to give him and his ride a little face lift. And while we’re at it, maybe we could give Dinoland a little face lift as well and finally put the rightful king in his place. And could we please bring back the immersive experiences? There’s a lot more, but to find it all out, you’re going to have to listen to this podcast, which I think you’ll enjoy because…whimsy. Anyway, thanks for all you do with the toys and stuff. Ep 281Our Dream Holiday Overlays
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, Luca, Soul, and Turning Red will all be coming to theaters in early 2024, giving them a theatrical release for the first time. Disneyland dropped their full 2024 calendar of events, which is unusual, and there are some really exciting celebrations to look forward to. Something about the holidays seems to make everything so special. Maybe it’s the fleeting nature of how fast it passes or the extra special magic of excited people getting to dress up for their favorite holiday, which got us thinking: Disney could use more holiday overlays. Sure Disneyland gets the Nightmare Before Christmas-themed Haunted Mansion and there’s always the Jingle Cruise, but couldn’t we do just a little extra to make more of the rides we know and love feeling fresh and new for a short time? Why not make the parks more magical by decorating for Halloween, Christmas, Life Day and more? We came up with a list of rides that could use a little sprucing up, including some of our favorites, like Enchanted Tiki Room and Space Mountain. So this week, tune in and get in a festive mood with us! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 280Frozen: The Movie That Changed Disney
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, over in Tokyo Disneyland, they’re gearing up for Minnie’s Funderland on January 10, a celebration with a parade, merch, decorations and more starring Disney’s leading lady. Frozen is 10 years old and we’re celebrating with a special episode all about the movie that reinvented Disney as we know it. Looking back, all many of us might remember the sensation that was “Let It Go,” but there are so many things about this movie that make it interesting and memorable. From its tumultuous beginnings, to its Rapunzel-rejected talent, to its box office performance, the original film has redefined the way Disney makes films. So tune in this week to learn more about one of the biggest Disney movies ever! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 279Guess the Missing Lyric
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Josh D'Amaro dropped more hints about bringing Indiana Jones to Dinoland in Animal Kingdom. Plus we answer what’s Disney’s weirdest ride. This week we play “What’s the Lyric?”. Play along as Joe has to guess the song title and the missing lyric from popular Disney attractions. By the end you won’t know if Joe is joking or serious when we says he’s never heard any of the songs before. Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 278The Greatest Star Wars Characters of All Time
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, the trailer came out for the new Marvel Disney+/Hulu show, Echo, came out this past week. This show has some interesting changes and we discuss how it could impact Marvel’s approach going forward. Plus new Halloween-themed RunDisney races were announced in Disneyland. With 12 feature-length films, countless books, several animated cartoons, and four live-action series on Disney+, it's fair to say that Star Wars is MASSIVE. So we thought it would be fun to pick our current Top 5 characters of all time in honor of Life Day on November 17. If you didn't guess, it was very difficult to whittle it down to just 5. So who will come out on top? Will the Dark Side prevail on our lists, or will the Light Side vanquish evil? Or, more likely, will we possibly achieve some measure of balance in the force? Tune in and find out! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Don’t forget to check us out on: -Instagram -Facebook -Youtube Missing the smell of the parks? Ep 277ReImagineering EPCOT
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. In Disney News, Disney is buying the remaining portion of Hulu from Comcast. What does this mean for their streaming plan and where are they going to get the money? In this episode, we play armchair Imagineer and reimagine EPCOT. We fix up World Showcase by adding a mixture of celebrity appeal, additional countries and their unique cultures, and some great Disney IP. Then we tackle the front of the park and give it a cohesive theme based on the elements with Spaceship Earth as the centerpiece. Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 276The Making of the Tower of Terror
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, Shanghai announced the date they’ll be opening Zootopia land. Sticking with international parks, over in Tokyo Disneyland, Fantasy Springs will be opening on June 6, 2024. On the high seas, we got some of our first looks at the artwork for the Haunted Mansion Parlor on the Disney Treasure cruise ship, and it looks incredible. And some people got a scare with the announcement of the return of the Disney Enchantment fireworks show at after hours events next year. Tomorrow is Halloween, so today we wanted to discuss our favorite ride in Disney World that takes place on Halloween Day, 1939. If you didn’t guess it, we’re talking about the Hollywood Studios icon: Tower of Terror. This seemingly immortal ride hasn’t always been there, so we explain the history, fun facts, and nods to the Twilight Zone throughout the queue. Plus, there were several iterations before the original was built including a murder mystery, which Angela thinks would be fun, but the night-vision goggles might become hazardous during the drops. Check out the book A Magical Half-Century for even more on the Tower of Terror. Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 275Name That Pixar Tune
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Our Disney “News,” this week is very…uneventful. Snow on the castle in Disneyland this week drove the internet crazy, but other than that Disney was pretty quiet. Do you like Disney Music? Do you like musical scores? And unlike Scar, do you not “despise guessing games”? Wonderful! Enjoy playing along to our new game Name that Tune: Pixar Edition. Joe plays Pixar movie scores for Angela who fumbles her way through guessing the movie, composer, and title of each track. With the ability to earn up to 3 points per round, can you (and she) earn enough points to be crowned Grand Admiral? Should Angela earn some bonus points for the amazing new titles she comes up with? She thinks so! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Don’t forget to check us out on: -Instagram -Facebook -Youtube Missing the smell of the parks? Ep 274You Can Only Keep One: Soundtrack Edition
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney news, ticket prices increased at Disneyland and so have Disney World season pass and parking prices. This all came with the good news that all day park hopping is returning to Disney World on January 9th! Also, the Broadway-style show on Disney’s new ship, the Treasure, is Moana! Does this bode well for a full-on Broadway production!? We hope so! This week, we ‘d like you to “Be Our Guest” as we play “You can only keep one” with 5 of your favorite Disney Renaissance movie soundtracks: Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Mulan, and Hercules. “I Won’t Say” any of the picks are easy, and for some, it’s like choosing between which foot you like better. You need both to walk…or swim? You’ll see what we mean. It was essential we remained “True to [Our Hearts]” and went “the Distance.” So friends, pull up a chair, as we proudly present…your podcast. Ep 273What’s Next for the Galactic Starcruiser?
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, Disney announced a discounted ticket for Disneyland and Disney World for children. Also, Disney announced the narrators for the Candlelight Processional with big names like Neil Patrick Harris, John Stamos, and Simu Liu. Disney has hinted that the Galactic Starcruiser Hotel may be closed, but something new is in the works. This week, we discuss new avenues they may pursue with the venue. So will people ever be able to stay there again possibly? Will Disney mimic some of Universal's more recent additions and use the Starcruiser to host these added experiences? Could it be used for a shorter experience or even a highly-themed show of some sort? We share our thoughts, how we see the various options playing out, and the likelihood these things could actually occur. Be sure to swing by our socials and let us know what you think may happen. Ep 272Are WDW Deluxe Resorts Worth It?
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Disney may have just changed how we all watch sports with a Toy Story simulcast of an NFL game this week. Too bad no one told us about it before it happened. Have you ever wanted to go to Disney World, but struggled to pick an appropriate hotel for your visit? Maybe you wanted to splurge for a Deluxe hotel, but also wanted to have money to spend elsewhere. Maybe you questioned which hotels could get you to the parks the fastest. As many Disney-goers know, Walt Disney World boasts an impressive number of hotels…sometimes too impressive. And there are three levels with their own price ranges. This week, we answer the age-old question “Is it worth staying in a Deluxe hotel?” This week we discuss each level, price ranges, our thoughts on some of the specific hotels, and then try to help you narrow down the best ones for you and your family. The answer to the “is it worth it” question is far more complex than many people would think considering the multitude of factors that should play into your decision. And surprisingly, the Deluxe hotels aren’t always the “best” choice, even if money isn’t a concern. Listen in and we can help you narrow your choices so you find the right hotel for you in the right price-range! Looking to book a Disney trip? Reach out to [email protected] for a free quote. Ep 271Greatest Attractions of All Time
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This past week, the big news was there was a bear in the Magic Kingdom causing Frontierland to be closed for hours. Of course the memes were lit as well, our favorite being the Haunted Mansion meme. We’re happy to say the golden Disney World 50th Anniversary statues are staying! Disney announced they plan to spend $60 billion dollars over the next 10 years in parks and on the Cruiselines. We’re a bit skeptical. And Elemental’s debut on Disney+ was very successful, becoming one of their most watched Disney premieres on Disney+ of all time. Disney has a number of iconic rides across their various properties. Rides that make you question how you could possibly convince the cast member to let you stay in the ride vehicle for your repeated riding pleasure. This week, it’s those top-tier rides we’re going to discuss. But we’re not just discussing those rides that were put in recently. No. We’re talking about the rides that stand out from the eras in which they were put in and in some cases, invented. Which Disney rides have the staying power to be put in the hall of fame? But don’t just take it from us, this week we rounded up an Avengers of sorts of Disney creators to give their picks as well! A special thanks to our guests Clark(@mousemakerstudio), Julie from Double Your WDW Podcast (@doubleyourwdw), Becky from Disney in Your Day and Castle Dreams Travel (@disneyinyourday), and John and Bridget from Board Game Cantina(@boardgamecantina). Plus, we discuss the GORGEOUS update coming to the Disneyland Hotel in Paris. Then in our main segment, we live like there’s no tomorrow and craft our Disney bucket list. Disney has so many incredible experiences to offer from world adventures to Club 33 to the Cinderella Castle Suite, but which ones will make our list? So while Angela’s off drinking everything Trader Sam has to offer and Joe’s manifesting a time machine, enjoy the show. Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 269What to Expect on Your 1st Disney Cruise
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week we got more information about the Disney Treasure. Destination D23 was this past week and Disney said a lot without really announcing anything concrete. Also, what’s up with that Figment meet and greet? Disney Cruise Lines, or at least Disney at sea, has been around for decades. From humble beginnings to changing maritime laws and having almost 6 ships in their fleet, Disney Cruises are a special treat for people who want to go to exotic places and be transported on a Disney-entertainment-mobile on water. If you’re curious about the cruiseline and want to know more about them, this is the podcast for you. Ep 268Destination D23 Dream Announcements
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. The Journey of Water with Moana is getting closer to opening and we discuss the early reviews. Plus, the Haunted Mansion over at Disneyland is going to be undergoing some changes in 2024. This week, in response to two listener questions, we talk about our dream D23 announcements for the 4 Walt Disney World parks and also what a Disney Villains theme park would look like. We have a blast blowing the doors off of the budgets and opening up the world of possibilities without Marvel ownership issues in parks, revamping the Avengers Campus, adding on to Galaxy's Edge, going a little wild in Animal Kingdom, and then allowing Maleficent to shine with her own castle. What Disney could do with the villains is incredible. Letting these baddies have their own castle, parades, lands, rides (MAKE ESCAPE FROM ELEPHANT GRAVEYARD ALREADY DISNEY!), and eating establishments would add a fun richness to the parks. Everyone has a little bit of the dark side in them, so embrace it with us this week and tune in! Thank you so much Zac and Rich for the excellent questions! Keep them coming! Ep 267Planning Your First Trip to Disneyland
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, over in Tokyo DisneySea, we got more information on the Fantasy Springs expansion. With lots of new rides, eating establishments, and many beloved Disney properties, DisneySea is even more of a must-visit! The Disney Treasure cruise ship announcements are coming soon! Members of the media got treasure maps last week revealing what might be included on the ship, and wow is it exciting! When you're used to visiting Disney World, going over to Disneyland can feel a little bit like being a fish out of water. This week, we discuss planning a Disneyland trip from a Disney Worlder's perspective. What should you expect? What kinds of tickets should you buy? For how many days? Where should you stay? What airport should you fly into? What should you know about the nighttime shows? And is front row at World of Color a blessing or a curse? We answer all of these and more! Ep 266MCU World Cup
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Sorry! Last week we accidentally said Springtime Surprise signups were last week and while we weren’t totally wrong, we weren’t totally right either. Tiana's Palace will be opening September 7. There will be New Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cartoons coming in 2025 with Duffy! With the World Cup ending yesterday, we decided to do a World Cup-esque Marvel bracket. With 32 Marvel movies and 32 teams in the World Cup, it worked out perfectly! There are definitely a lot of heavy hitters, teams that were projected to go far, and even a Cinderella story or two! Which movie scored the most in our hearts and created the best, most memorable experience? Which movies don’t quite make the cut? Listen and you’ll hear Chris and Angela’s picks. Who is Chris you say? Listen and you’ll see! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Do you love animals and Star Wars? And do you not despise running? If so, you may be interested in the Together As One Charity 5k, which benefits Better Life Pet Rescue. On our last Disney trip, we decided to finally make our way over to the “third theme park,” Universal’s water park, Volcano Bay. So this week, we go over the history of Volcano Bay (which interestingly enough predates Universal Studios), the lore behind the park, our experience, the deal with the Tapu Tapus, some tips and tricks on having the best experience, and what our final opinions are about the park including whether or not we’ll go back! (Spoiler alert, you’re so cool, we can’t keep a secret from you. We most certainly will!) Tune in and enjoy! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 264Disney’s Biggest Mistakes
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. We start off this week by discussing the good news and bad news about Fantasmic over at Disneyland. Plus more restaurants at Disneyland are going to serve alcohol in September. Imagineers have created some of the most immersive lands and attractions at Disney parks, but what happens when their vision misses the mark? From budget cuts to disco balls to trying to make classic attractions “relevant” we count down the worst and shortest-lived attractions at the Disney Parks. And if you thought the Galactic Starcruiser didn't last long, there are a few on this list that didn't even last ONE YEAR! Plus we get into a heated debate about whether the Tiki Room should run a Boy Band karaoke show. Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 263Disneyland: Keep, Update or Replace
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, EPCOT’s getting a few new things for the Disney 100. Also, Disney’s newest cruise ship, the Treasure, had its bow reveal this week. Which character’s are on it? This week’s episode is Keep, Update, Replace: Disneyland edition. We go though some of your favorite Disneyland and DCA rides and vote whether to keep them as is, update them to make them better, or completely tear them down and replace them. The “future” of Storybook Land Canal Boats, Matterhorn, Webslingers, Alice in Wonderland, and more rest in our hands. We also check the Instagram data to see how you all felt about these rides and their fates. Looking to book a Disney trip? Reach out to [email protected] for a free quote. Ep 262Battle of the Attractions: WDW vs. Disneyland
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Bob Iger’s contract got extended through 2026. And a new Turduckin hat has been released in EPCOT that Figment fans will fawn over. Our episode this week is sort of a double-feature. We briefly talk about our short Disney trip before we did the Galactic Starcruiser and holy cow was it really awesome! We actually had a lot of Disney firsts like riding Tron Lightcycle Run, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and getting to see a warthog get some dental work. After that, we move on to our main topic of the week, Disneyland vs Disney World Ride Comparisons. We stack 10 rides and attractions up against each other from both coasts and see which one is better. So which Pirates of the Caribbean comes away with the booty? Which Haunted Mansion would we rather inhabit? And which would win in a race for our hearts: Test Track or Radiator Springs Racers? Tune in and see! As always, thank you so much for listening! Ep 261One Final Voyage on the Galactic Starcruiser
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, past and current Disney CEO Bob Iger said recently that the parks are too expensive. D23 is coming up, and not much of new substance is expected. The panels appear to be reflective or learning-oriented. What does that mean? Finally, Food and Wine announces five new booths and a couple of interesting new menus items. This week we talk about our recent and final voyage on the Galactic Star Cruiser aka the “Star Wars hotel.” One would think we would find it less magical the second go around, after all, the storyline stays the same, but no. This time, we both enjoyed it even more, from the cast to the other passengers to our experience in Galaxy’s Edge. We talk about how this second voyage enhanced our understanding and allowed us to interact better with the cast. In that, beware, we definitely include spoilers. We dive into the differences in our paths from the first time and what we think Disney needs to take away from this experience after they close it down in September. We wrap up with our biggest takeaways from the experience that we will cherish and apply in our everyday lives. As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Ep 260The Sherman Brothers
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Today, we’re keeping our news in Walt Disney World. Imagineers have started testing Moana Journey of Water. In addition to that, Genie+ has undergone some changes. You can now purchase based on what park you’re at if you don’t have park-hoppers or all of the parks. This week we wanted to cover two of what we think are some of Disney’s biggest unsung heroes, the Sherman Brothers. If you’re not familiar with their work, they’re the ones responsible for the “It’s a Small World” song as well as many other Disney hits both in the parks and on film. Even though they didn’t always get along, their working relationship was very fruitful and their extended jingle-style music still continues to capture the hearts and minds of people today. Ep 259Disneyland Has A Special Magic
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. For those of you over by Disneyland or with a very close Disneyland trip booked, Rogers: The Musical starts playing tomorrow at the Hyperion Theater. Also, due to the writers’ strike, Disney is delaying a lot of movies from your favorite Disney-owned properties: Marvel, Star Wars, and Avatar. This week is part two of our two-part trip recap to Universal Studios Hollywood and Disneyland. This week, we’re talking Disneyland! With Disney World being our home park, we’re always partial, but this time we feel like something changed for us. We were able to appreciate the special magic that Walt’s original park has. We talk about the wonderful Magic Happens parade, World of Color water show and subsequent drenching, eating at the Magic Key Terrace and Lamplight Lounge, and buying Genie+ for the first time. Thanks to our friends Jennifer and Keifer for showing us a great time! As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 258Super Nintendo World Trip Recap
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Disney announced a new winter holiday celebration in Hollywood Studios called Jollywood Nights. Also, a new Mickey short is coming called Steamboat Silly. Is this a play to keep the rights to Steamboat Willie? This week is part one of our two-part trip recap to Universal Studios Hollywood and Disneyland. This week, we’re talking Universal, and more specifically, Super Mario World. We answer all of your pressing questions. Is it worth the trip from Anaheim? What kinds of snags might you face when trying to get into the park? And are the $40 power up bands necessary? We also share our thoughts on the rides, minigames, and Express Pass. If you plan on going yourself, you’ll benefit from our mistakes and successes. Plus, we’ll let you know what to do and what you can skip, especially if you go to Universal in Orlando. As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Ep 257DisneyQuest
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Today’s episode is brought to you by The Cheesecake Factory. Okay, not really. We aren’t getting those kinds of bucks from this pod, but when you listen, you’ll get the age-old question, how did The Cheesecake Factory make us talk about DisneyQuest this week? If that isn’t enough to draw you in, you can learn all about this sort-of failed Disney concept that lasted a respectable 20 years when our beloved Starcruiser didn’t even last 2! Ep 256Keep, Update or Replace: Magic Kingdom
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. The dining plan is back and officially bookable for your 2024 vacations! Disney also released more concept art for the Pixar Place remodel at Disneyland. Today, we’ll tackle the last Disney World Park, Magic Kingdom, in our ongoing series: Keep, Update, Replace. Should Disney keep Haunted Mansion? Would it be a good idea to replace Jungle Cruise? Would a staged alien invasion be the solution to the eternal issue that is the Hall of Presidents? And should Tomorrowland become an ever-lasting world’s fair with different company booths that rotate out every few years? We answer these pertinent questions and more! Ep 255AI Movie Summaries
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Scott Lange’s memoir, Look Out for the Little Guy, a fictional book in Ant Man is going to become real. Plus, Josh D’Amaro dropped some interesting park news at a recent investor conference. And in our main segment, we ask, “What if Disney+ used ChatGPT to write their movie descriptions?” Joe used the AI chatbot to create overly simplistic descriptions of Disney movies, and Angela tries to guess them. The struggle’s real in this one as Angela grapples with the AI’s vague wording and hopes after seeing her results, the listeners don’t kick her off the show. All the while, Joe fights with his tongue’s resistance to pronouncing the word enigmatic. As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Ep 254Are We in the Disney Dark Age?
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Our news this week is our main topic because it’s a shocker. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is closing. That’s right, this cutting-edge, not-even-toddler-age endeavor will stop “taking flight” come September. This week, we share our feelings about this. We also speculate why we think it happened, and contemplate the direction of the Disney company as a whole. We also share what we think Disney’s going to do with the Starcruiser after it closes. In a moment of levity, Joe posits more accounting questions than most (or at least Angela) would care to know, and for you the valued listener, she steps in to prevent any sort of boredom-related sleep issues that could arise from too much money talk. Ep 253Keep, Update or Replace: EPCOT
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Exciting Disney News! Park reservations are gone starting January 9th, 2024 (sort of)! Food and Wine Festival Eat to the Beat acts were announced. This week we play Keep, Update, Replace: EPCOT. What should Disney do with some of EPCOT’s hottest rides like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure as well as some older, but beloved rides like Spaceship Earth. And is customizable rides in Disney’s future? Plus, Joe begs people to unsubscribe based on their stance on of Living with the Land. As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Ep 252Why is the MCU Struggling?
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 just came out at the end of last week, and this week we need to talk about it. This podcast sits somewhere between a movie review (we have some big thoughts on the story and realism of the issues discussed in the movie) and a discussion of Marvel at large and where they’re headed. At this point, it seems as though they’ve lost their way in the Galaxy a bit, not that the movie is bad because it’s not. But, they also don’t seem to have the clarity they once had during the Infinity Saga. Where are they going with all of this? Why are people getting a bit tired of these movies? Where should they go from here? And how can they see themselves out of these awkward teenage years? As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Ep 251The Best Places to Eat in Disneyland
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Walt Disney announced a big fitness initiative. We’re most excited about the new pickleball courts! Plus, is Disney developing an Encanto musical for Broadway? Food is important. As Disney World people, we're constantly trying new restaurants and returning to old favorites. But what about Disneyland? What are the best and most highly-rated places to take a load off and enjoy a nice treat or meal? During today's episode, we take a deep dive into the world of Disneyland food and end up with some unexpected questions. Like why does Disneyland seem so reasonably priced or should Disney just serve Dole Whip at every restaurant to boost guest ratings? So join us on this culinary adventure as we undercover everything from the best places to eat on Main Street to where the ideal spot to unwind with a cocktail in hand is at in DCA to the character dining we would rather order off of the kid’s menu. Ep 250Our Top Disney Core Memories
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Animal Kingdom turned 25 this past weekend! It’s wild to think that in our very first episode ever, we commemorated the 20th anniversary! 350 cabins at Fort Wilderness are getting replaced by more modern cabins and the restaurant, and potentially getting a new restaurant, since Trail’s End Restaurant is closed. And the Maleficent dragon at Disneyland caught fire during a show last week, which forced them to shut down the Fantasmic show for audience safety. It’s our 250th episode extravaganza, and because of that, we’re going Inside Out to talk about our Top Disney Core Memories. We cover our trips to international parks, the many Adventures we’ve had, and the friends we’ve made along the way. Also, Angela reacts to the fact that Joe’s #1 Disney memory is sans her. Can you believe that!? (It’s a pretty good memory though.) Thank you to all of the listeners who have supported us throughout these five years! It’s been so great to have you along for the ride! As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 249Keep, Update or Replace: Hollywood Studios
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. A few additional things came out of the Star Wars Celebration that give us the feels. A Gaya album will be dropping on May 4th. On the not-so-great news front, The Bad Batch will get a third and final season next year. We did Animal Kingdom and had so much fun, we decided to play Keep, Update, Replace: Hollywood Studios. We assess some of the most popular and, let’s face it, unpopular rides in the park. And we even got your opinion on the matter using a poll on our Instagram @enchantedearspodcast. What should be done with Muppet Vision 3D, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Slinky Dog Dash, Rise of the Resistance, Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run, and the Frozen Sing Along Celebration? We think some pretty big changes need to occur to revive the tributes to movie magic while also teaching the next generation what amazing possibilities exist with a little spark…of inspiration. Some other big changes, in the form of locking restraints, might be needed if Frozen gets Angela’s suggested update to keep Joe from charging the stage to meet a Disney (and cultural) icon. As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 248The Craziest History Made at Disney Parks
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. There was a lot of news this week! Star Wars Celebration was going on in London this past week. At it, new movies were said to be in the works including one tying up the Mandoverse. Plus, a live action Moana is in the works as announced by The Rock. We’re very interested to see what direction this takes, as it’s super early in the process. Disney’s so woven into the fabric of our culture and society, it’s not at all surprising that some pretty amazing things have happened on their hallowed ground. Did you know Doritos were invented at Disneyland? Or that Disneyland had a Wizard of Bras? Or that the Beatles broke up at the Polynesian? Or that Elton John wrote Rocket Man while riding the Astro Obiter? OK, maybe one of those didn’t happen, but three of them totally did. This week, we cover these absolutely wild stories plus the one world record set at a Disney Park that we think we could break. As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Ep 247Keep, Update or Replace: Animal Kingdom
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. The Aristocats live action movie was announced with Quest Love directing and doing music for it. Also, the first round of layoffs at the Disney Company are happening. Some of the big cuts are in the divisions dealing with Bob Chapek’s focuses: Meta verse and Disney Prime. Sometimes in life, one has to make the hard decision to get rid of things that you no longer want or need, to maybe repair what's broken, and to keep things that spark joy exactly as they are. What if we applied this decisive Marie Kondo-esque philosophy to the Disney World parks? What would we keep, update, and replace in Animal Kingdom? This week, we tackle this difficult question when it comes to some of Animal Kingdom's biggest (and smallest) attractions including Flight of Passage, Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, and Joe's favorite, Feathered Friends in Flight. Also, Angela has ideas about just who could repair the Yeti. It's definitely NOT Bob Iger wearing jean overalls like the long-lost Super Mario Brother. Nonetheless, fan art of that would be appreciated - which you can send to @enchantedearspodcast on Instagram. As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Ep 246The Best Places to Stay at Walt Disney World
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. There’s a new tour in town at Disneyland. A tour with Disney history, plus a chat with an animator, plus a commemorative pin? Mickey, take our money now! And rumor has it that Galaxy’s Edge has been canceled at Disneyland Paris and a Lion King themed land complete with a water ride will go in its place. Angela is obviously pessimistically optimistic about this rumor and will be holding her breath until the rumored announcement date in April, at which point she will need to be revived and given the news. With more than 25 Disney World Resort hotels, it can be overwhelming trying to decide where to stay on your next trip. What’s your budget? How about what park you plan to spend the most time in? What amenities are important to you? There’s are a just a few questions that can come into play when deciding which hotel is best. This week we’ve decided to simplify the process by giving you our top hotel picks. We tackle the best options based on price, location and how much time you plan to spend in your room vs. the theme parks. We did so much research, we even learned something new! So if that doesn’t hook you, we don’t know what will! As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. Ep 245Remembering Rolly Crump
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. With Tron opening April 4th and running soft openings now, the new Tron merch is out, and it looks pretty awesome! Also, this week Disney announced a bunch of new character-based interactions coming this year. Moana will be on the Floatillas in Animal Kingdom starting April 22. Mirabel will debut in the fall at Fairytail Garden in the Magic Kingdom. And Figment will appear at Imagination Pavillion later this year! Legacy? What is a legacy? With the passing of famous Imagineer and Disney Legend, Rolly Crump, this past week, we wanted to zoom in on the man and really talk about his life and what he's left behind. It takes a special person to recognize their strengths, elevate others, and think outside the box, and that's exactly the type of person Rolly Crump was. From all accounts, he helped others actualize their potential, was revered by Walt, and he is responsible for some of the most iconic designs in Disneyland and Disney World. Crump worked on It's a Small World, The Enchanted Tiki Room, and Haunted Mansion along with countless other projects both in the Disney Parks and beyond. It was a pleasure to learn about the life and contributions of this amazing man, and we think you're going to enjoy it, too! As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Ep 244Dopey Challenge Dos and Don’ts
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney news we discuss what the recent cuts to the Galactic Starcuiser’s schedule could mean to it’s future and get totally sidetracked by the Philadelphia Flyers mascot while discussing some epic Daredevil: Born Again casting. Plus, you’ll soon be able to get a Dole Whip anytime you want. Some people may call it stupid to wake up at 2:45 am for 4 days in a row to run 46.6 miles, but Disney calls it Dopey. And with Marathon Weekend sign-ups fast-approaching, your 3rd and 10th favorite podcast hosts (we all know which of us is your number 3) compiled a lists of Dopey training Dos and Don'ts that you can use to determine if you want to run and what to do to once you inevitably decide to follow Master Yoda's advice, "Do or do not, there is no try." Your training program, race meals, and attitude along with a lot of other factors will determine how good of an experience you have. But some things will definitely hold you back like eating foods your stomach doesn't digest well (hello Port-o-potty) and thinking that one missed run will ruin your whole training program. Plus, take it from us, if you run with a prop, you better try it out or you'll probably be forced to litter in front of the Castle. Oops! As always, thank you so much for listening!
