Ep 92Changing of the Guard: Disney's New CEO

Holy cow, this was a crazy week! Soooo... today’s episode’s all news, all the time! First off, did you see the Back to the Future deep fake starring Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland!? It’s crazy how well these two fit into the film and look like Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd! We brainstorm some deep fakes (we’d like to see as remakes) we’d love to see made starring MCU actors. We love EPCOT, buuut when Spaceship Earth closes May 26th, unless Ratatouille is open by then, there may not be much of a point to going there. Almost the whole front of the park is getting refurbished right now! And with Mardi Gras just passing, it seems Dr. Facilier may have worked his voodoo magic in the Magic Kingdom. Several rides this week seemed cursed and sank/crashed! And lastly, in an abrupt turn of events, Bob Iger announces the sun has set on his time as Disney’s CEO and risen with Bob Chapek. What does this mean for the company? We discuss implications, concerns, and excitement. Thanks for lending us your ears. Stay tuned for some new material we’re working on. We think you’re going to love it!! Check us out on Facebook or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

Ep 91Is It Worth It? Galaxy's Edge Edition

This week, in Disney News, Disney releases the 50th anniversary Cinderella Castle renderings. Let’s just say, there is a lot of gray, royal blue, pink, and gold which sounds like a cluster, but trust us, it’s fantastic. Also, Disney gets more time to deliver the third Paris park per the agreement with France. Originally, they were to begin work in the next few years, but with all of the park improvements they’ve been making, they now don’t have to deliver the park until 2036. This week, we do a Galaxy’s Edge edition of our recurring “Is It Worth It” series. We delve into such important topics such as lightsaber building, Oga’s cantina, building your own droid, whether or not to try the blue/green milk, and showing up an hour early to ride Rise of the Resistance. (Hint, most of this stuff IS worth it. Just what isn’t? You’ll have to listen to see.) We also discuss the likelihood of Disney adding wallet-stealing droids to find an even faster way to siphon your money away from you. And there’s a Smuggler’s Run cheat code to reveal Chewie!? Yep. We even have a fabulous Chewie impressionist come on the show to tell us all about it in Shyriiwook. Thanks for lending us your ears. We appreciate you and all you do! Have a fantastic week! As to not ruin the surprise, we’ll only say that this episode feels like it’s been a long time coming. These ironclad couples have stood tests that seem insurmountable, but nothing can wreck their relationships. Through their incredible journeys, they accomplish their goals and grow together. Ep 89Disney Decade: The 1960s

In this groovy episode of Enchanted Ears Podcast, we talk about Disney during the 1960s. But first, there was quite a bit of news last week. In a fantastic turn of events, we finally get to talk about Hamilton the Musical as a Disney property!!! Yep...Disney paid $75 mil to own the filmed version of the original cast’s performance on Broadway, which they’ll make back in 1 night. Disney announced the release dates for several of their most highly-anticipated shows including The Mandalorian season 2, Wandavision, and more. Also, you’ll be able to start booking your fully-immersive Star Wars experience at the Galactic Starcruiser hotel later this year, so start saving your money now!!! Finally, someone is rumored to be in talks to direct the new Star Wars films and let’s just say we called it. This week, we continue our Disney Decades series with the 1960s. So much happens in this decade it’s hard to fit it all in (and we certainly missed a lot). During this decade we see the inception of a lot of iconic Disney classic movies, the creation of a new animation process, park ride innovations that blew people’s minds, new parks and parks that never were, and, of course, the death of Walt Disney. This decade brings about a lot of changes that forever impact the trajectory of the Disney company. Don’t miss out! Ep 88Over/Under Rated: Animal Kingdom Edition

Sooo...it’s the day after the Superb Owl and we’d like to formally congratulate the 49ers or The Chiefs! Yay! Someone’s going to Disney! This week in Disney News, the stuntronics are almost ready and a new Spider-Man stunt show at DCA will be the first opportunity we’ll have to see these live and in action. Also, Disney makes progress in their never-ending crusade to remake every animated classic. They announced a live action Bambi movie. Also, in exciting and curious news, Owen Wilson joins the cast of the sure-to-be-a-hit Loki show on Disney+. This week we continue our series of picking the most overrated and underrated attractions at various parks according to touringplans.com. This week we tackle Animal Kingdom, which we quickly realized has some of the best attractions of any of the parks. Joe makes a few unpopular picks, and I nearly fight him over it. Luckily, we make it out with our marriage unscathed. Let us know what you think and if we missed talking about any rides that are underrated or overrated. Thanks for lending us your ears. Ep 87Duel of the Fates: What Episode IX Could Have Been

Hello and welcome to your (favorite) Disney podcast! We’re super excited for you to hear our topic this week, but first, the news! FastPasses for Smuggler’s Run are finally here, and with that comes an overhaul of Hollywood Studios FastPass system. Don’t worry, we think you’ll like the changes. 😉 And, what’s this?! The Declaration of Independence? No! Benjamin Franklin Gates already stole that and unlocked its secrets, BUT he may be up to his shenanigans again in a rumored new National Treasure movie. Drumroll please.... This week we’ll be discussing Colin Trevorrow’s leaked script and the concept art that goes along with his dead Star Wars film that was eventually replaced by The Rise of Skywalker called Duel of the Fates. (Ballin’ title...we know.) In the leaked information, we learn many of the plot points of this movie that shines in the pits of the never-to-be-made movie graveyard. These points include Rey’s new double-sided staff, maintaining that Rey is a nobody, Kylo Ren as the ultimate big bad, and Kylo’s lightsaber battle with Darth Vader. Ummmm...what made Lucasfilm say no to this?! We discuss the impact of this now defunct story on the Skywalker saga as a whole and how it would’ve fit into the already established movies (spoiler alert...it would’ve fit MUCH better). Thank you again for listening this week and don’t forget to check out the Banter? I Hardly Know Her Podcast. They’re the real deal! Have a great week! Ep 84Bold Predictions for the Next Decade

This week in Disney News, Jon Favreau announces The Mandalorian will get a season 2, and it will come out Fall 2020. Yay!!! Plus, we discuss the rumor that Disney World is planning to move to a paid FastPass system this year and why we think this is a bad idea. For our main topic, we took a Udemy (not a sponsor) class from Madame Leota, purchased a crystal ball, and make predictions for the next decade. What will Disney do from 2020-2030? Well...we’re going to tell you. We see some major changes for the stateliness parks as they continue to expand. The WDW parks will get larger and larger with new lands. But do we see a fifth park in their future? Plus, we see Disney building new park(s) in some interesting international markets. The company itself will grow too with some major acquisitions. The future of their entertainment is bright, with Moana being at the heart (of the ocean) of it all. Angela has the full plot synopsis for Moana 2 and Joe foresees a Moana musical with new exclusive music from Lin-Manuel Miranda. Angela also has some bold predictions for the Jungle Cruise movie you won’t want to miss. Don’t worry...we didn’t forget to mention our beloved Baby Yoda who will speak his first, adorable words. Ep 80Food and Wine & Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Recaps

This week in Disney News, Frozen 2 opened and if you haven’t seen it, what are you doing? Seriously, stop reading this and go to the nearest movie theater. This is an emergency situation!! And Disney Plus is officially out and officially cool! Watch the Mandalorian. Even if the Mandalorian himself isn’t super lovable, he has a lovable costar...that’s all I’m going to say. This week, we talk about our most recent trip to Disney, where we were able to hit both Food and Wine AND Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Since Food and Wine is over now, we spend only a short amount of time discussing what we ate and would recommend getting next year (and what we wouldn’t). Mickey’s Very Merry was jolly in almost every way. There’s free cookies, Christmasified rides, special shows, and festive character meet-and-greets. Also, Disney World takes a page out of Tokyo Disneyland’s book and is now offering a special edition popcorn tin for Christmas. This week we discuss the highlights from Bob Iger’s book, The Ride of a Lifetime. Starting at ABC, Iger was an unlikely candidate for CEO after Mike Eisner. Ep 78Little Mermaid Live

Hello, and welcome to your hub for anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, the new trailer for Pixar’s Soul dropped. It looks like a really interesting exploration of an existential crisis...packaged as a children’s movie. We’re interested to see how they attack such a difficult and depressing topic as death in a way that still leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy like Pixar movies often do. This week we discuss The Little Mermaid Live that just aired on Tuesday, November 5. It was an interesting mix of the animated movie with live performances of the songs. The performances were by famous actors like Auli’i Cravalho (as Ariel) Queen Latifa (as Ursula), Shaggy (as Sebastian), and John Stamos (as Chef Louis) and definitely made watching interesting. While some took to their parts like a fish to water, others seemed to drown in their roles. Is it worth the watch? I’d say yes if you like the movie and don’t have super high expectations. No, if you’re a die-hard fan and don’t want to see your favorite movie look a little less-than-appealing at times. Thanks for lending us your ears! Ep 77Ranking the Value Resorts

This week in Disney News, the Game of Thrones co-creators DB Weiss and David Benioff backed out of doing the upcoming Star Wars trilogy that’s set to come out in the early 2020s. We’re not crying too hard after the much-hated final season of GoT garnered them much criticism from die-hard fans. We suggest some alternate choices for directors that we think would be a good fit for this beloved franchise. This week we discuss the Disney Value Hotels: The Campsites at Fort Wilderness Lodge, All-Star Sports, All-Star Music, All-Star Movies, POP Century, and Art of Animation. We go into what the advantages there are to staying in each one and some of the drawbacks. Then we rank which one we like to stay at the most. (We always stay in a value hotel since we’re at the parks so much.) Thank you for lending us your ears! Ep 75Previewing Disney+

This week, in Disney News, The Void opens its new VR experience. The Avengers: Damage Control follows a group of Shuri’s recruits who are testing a new Wakandan/ Stark Industries tech suit. Of course things go awry and you have to fight bad guys with appearances by Dr. Strange, Ant-Man, and the Wasp. We can’t wait to go! Tokyo Disneyland is shutting down Fantasmic as of March 25. And lastly, review.org is offering 5 people the opportunity to earn $1000 and a year free membership to Disney+ to watch 30 Disney movies in 30 days and submit reviews. We discuss whether this sounds like a good deal or not. This week, we do a deep dive into the offerings on Disney+ following Disney+’s 600 tweets and release of a 3 hour long trailer for the streaming service. We talk about the shows and movies we’re most excited to see. Looking at the Disney back catalog, we pull out some bizarre-sounding movies and discuss what they’re about and whether or not we’re excited to watch them. Not sold yet? With movies like Fuzzbucket, The Barefoot Executive, and Greyfriars Bobby, how can you not be intrigued? Ep 74Behind the Scenes of Lion King the Musical

This week, in Disney News, we spoke too soon about the smooth opening of the Skyliner a few weeks ago. On October 6th, six days after opening, it broke down leaving visitors stranded for a few hours. Hopefully, they can work out the kinks soon. Also, this week, the trailer for Jungle Cruise dropped and so did our jaws. The movie looks like it’ll be as much fun as Pirates of the Caribbean and have even closer ties to the ride which inspired it. This week, we’re really excited to discuss The Lion King Broadway Musical. At our fourth time to see the show, we received a really nice magazine that tells all about the production of the musical and served as our source material. We share our five major takeaways from reading the magazine from the musical’s not-so-storied-past to the meaning behind everything you see. It’s incredible how much all of the people involved poured into making this the spectacular spectacle it is! Thanks for lending us your ears! Ep 73Disney Decade: The 1950s

This week, in Disney News, Kevin Feige is moving on over to Star Wars! He’ll be helping produce a new movie with LucasFilm’s Kathleen Kennedy and we’re really excited to see what he brings to the table. Spider-Man’s back!!! Sony and Disney finally reach that agreement we’ve been hoping for. Also, the dates for EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival were announced and this year, there’s going to be a Remyiary!! This week we pick up on our Disney Decades series with the 1950s. This decade is driven by some huge developments in movies, TV, and parks. Some Disney heavy-hitters came out in the 50s including Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, and Sleeping Beauty. Also, Walt continues to prove he’s a visionary when he jumps head-first into the newest technology TV and is handsomely rewarded in being able to help fund his newest idea of a theme park. Then in 1955, Disneyland opens to huge crowds (thanks to thousands of counterfeit tickets) and changes the world as we know it! Thanks for lending us your ears! Ep 72Theme Park Tunes: Tokyo Disney Edition

This week, in a snippet released to the public from Bob Iger’s book The Ride is a Lifetime, he mentions how he believes Disney and Apple would’ve merged had Steve Jobs still been alive. We discuss what Disney would be like if this occurred. Also, Disney patents “capturepult” technology to stop and kick start boat rides to prevent traffic jams. Also, Tokyo Disney finally announces an epic expansion set to open in April of 2020 before the Olympics. In this fun episode, Joe tests Angela’s memory of ride music two months after their trip to Tokyo Disney. Never been to these parks? No problem. You can still play along since some of the music includes popular songs from the movies the rides are meant to emulate. Thank you for lending us your ears! Have a great week! Ep 71WDW Cutbacks and Ranking the Avengers

Hello and welcome! This week, Disney News starts out sweet with the introduction of the Peanut butter brownie at Hollywood Studios Backlot Express. Look up a picture because this incredible little dessert will have you booking your next trip (or buying an endless supply of Reese’s Pieces and Peanut Butter Cups to try to replicate the magic). Disney World cuts a few shows and moves over more character meet and greets from photographers to Photo Boxes. We discuss why this may be and possible impacts it could have. Lastly, the MCU is making more changes with the planned introduction of the X-Men. They discuss also using the X-Men to add more diversity to the MCU. This week, our episode is inspired by a listener question. Rachel R. asked what our favorite Avenger is. So, in this episode, we discuss the heroes who are the strongest and smartest, along with the one with the best superpowers, best dad bod, most underutilized etc. Thank you for lending us your ears. Ep 70Ranking the Pixar Movies

We discuss a heart-warming story of a boy with a dream, who gives it up to help others. (And Disney being involved, is generously rewarded for his selfless actions.) Also, the next installment of drama between Sony and Disney over the use of Spider-man in the MCU continues. The two companies are trying to work things out, which includes rumored larger percentages for Disney and the inclusion of Venom in the MCU. This week, we discuss and rank Pixar movies in two separate categories: franchises and one-offs. We also point out the magic and genius of the Pixar creative process along with the unique themes and ideas they apply to their works. Some of our opinions will probably have you cheering and others will likely have you jeering. Did you know that The Incredibles is a secret mash-up of the MCU with the Fast and Furious Franchise? (Okay, not really, but Joe makes a great argument for that.) Since sentimentality seems natural this week, we want to express how grateful we are for your time and listenership. We love talking every week about Disney, prepping notes, and supporting a company we feel does it’s best to make the world a better place. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity and occasion to do that. You’re magical! Ep 69Dealing with Hurricanes at Disney World

This week in Disney news, two of the most magical titans of industry unite: Disney and Target! Twenty-five Targets are getting mini Disney Stores inside. (Is anyone else hearing all of the Disney princesses sing in beautiful harmony inside your head?) Hopefully, this venture succeeds and they can roll this out to more stores sooner rather than later. Disney rereleased Aladdin on Blu-ray, so we take a quiz to prove our Aladdin knowledge. And the Star Wars hotel’s rumored price has many Disney fans saying “Naw thanks” according to our very scientific Facebook poll. (That’s quite the oxymoron, isn’t it?) In this episode, we batten down the hatches! With Dorian ripping through the Caribbean and southeast, it made us curious what Disney’s hurricane preparation plans are. So, we discuss what happens when a hurricane blows through the Most Magical Place on Earth. As expected, they do as much as they can to make you comfortable and keep your trip as magical as possible, which includes rarely seen characters, discounts, and free things! And if you’re able to donate to help rebuild and clean up the Bahamas, you can transfer money to The Bahamas Disaster Relief Fund or the American Red Cross. This week is ALL news. We cover the announcements made at D23. There were tons of movie announcements. Black Panther will finally get a sequel in 2022. Pixar announced Soul, a movie that will feature Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey. Also, he might not know much, but Kit Harrington knows he’s going to play the Black Knight in the Eternals. Some new trailers came out for movies going straight to Disney+ and provide yet another reason to buy it come November. Most excitingly, Anna Kendrick stars as Noelle Claus in a new Christmas movie. Check out the trailer. It looks so cute! Also, the new Star Wars trailer has some crazy buzz surrounding it. Joe and Angela speculate why Rey’s wearing that hood and has a red lightsaber. The parks are also receiving some cool updates. There are new parades and logos. Also, Epcot’s getting a massive facelift. Finally, the Star Wars hotel is announced and its speculated to be awesome and to break the bank! Ep 67Is Disney Getting Too Big + Must Dos at Disney World

This week in Disney news, pour one out for Spider-man. Since Sony and Disney can’t reach an agreement moving forward to allow Disney to continue to use Spider-Man in their movies, Tom Holland has officially been kicked out of the MCU. This leads into a discussion about whether Disney is becoming too large and is throwing their weight around. Or if their size could cause potential issues with creativity. This week we talk about our Disney World must-dos. We surprise each other with our typical and some more...eclectic choices. Also, serious request, if you have recommendations on places for us to eat, we’d love to hear them! Send us a message on our social media sites. Thanks for lending us your ears! Ep 66Tokyo DisneySea Trip Recap

This week in Disney News, "it's a small world" in Disney World is rumoured to be getting some new Disney character animatronics. A big secret will be revealed at D23 on the 22nd. We speculate what that may be and hold out hope that another park is getting built in India! This week, we talk DisneySea, Disney's second park in Tokyo. Sea's sea-based (duh) with many different lands. We take a counterclockwise walk through the park and discuss our experiences in each section. Like Disneyland Tokyo, the shows reign supreme in Sea. Be sure to check out their Big Band Beat and King Trident's Concert shows for some spectacular choreography and music. Again, Duffy is everywhere and even our pal Gelatoni isn't as bad as previously thought. As Joe says, "The camera adds 10 nightmares.) Thank you for lending us your ears! Ep 65Tokyo Disneyland Trip Recap

Konnichiwa! We're back from Japan and so excited to share our trip to Tokyo Disneyland with you! We did so much in the short day and a half we were there. (The other day and a half were spent at Disney Sea. Stay tuned for that episode next week!) Environment-wise, the Tokyo Disneyland park was like an even cuter, less commercialized version of the American parks. Duffy the Disney Bear is king and Donald is his royal knight...sorry, Mickey, but you deserve a break from all the hard work. Duffy and Donald merchandise are everywhere from headbands to purses to keychains. The setup of the park is similar to Disneyland in California or the Magic Kingdom in Florida, which makes navigating the park a little more intuitive. Language-wise, there are some cast members who speak English, but even those who don't are easy enough to communicate with (for things like ordering food or asking directions) as long as you don't have any special needs. The Japanese are excellent at using emphatic hand signals that really help to convey their points. Ride-wise, Disneyland has some really cool, original rides like Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek! and Pooh's Hunny Hunt (yes, I spelled that correctly). If you ever go to this park, you have to ride Hunny Hunt! The trackless ride system is incredible! The cars weave in and out of each other in near-Broadway-choreographed fashion. Monsters, Inc. is a fun ride that adopts the style of the old shooting gallery: you shoot at a target and the target moves. There are some serious cool animatronics in there, too! Also, a pretty cool experience unique to this park your ability to go into Cinderella Castle to see the dioramas and sit on the royal throne. In addition to these new rides, many of the classics got really fun and interesting upgrades. For example, "it's a small world" not only includes the same animatronics as the American parks, but also includes many familiar faces from the Disney movies. One of the best upgrades to the Japanese parks were the abundance of and quality of shows. Judy and Nick's Jumpin' Splash takes place directly in front of the castle and is a dance party with a (much needed) splash zone! Also, One Man's Dream 2 features many of the Disney characters you know and love dancing and singing to both original songs and songs from the movies. And, of course, the food! Popcorn and popcorn containers were the biggest story in both of the parks. The tins ranged from alien claw machines to Stitch to Steamboat Willie on his boat! Thank you so much for lending us your ears! Tune in next week to hear our experience at Tokyo DisneySea! And as always, interact with us and see some awesome trip photos on our social media outlets on Facebook and Instagram.

Ep 63Ranking Alan Tudyk's Disney Roles

When we say we’re doing a whole episode on a voice actor, you might be like, “Angela and Joe...I’ve supported you through some strange episode ideas, but one based on some dude I don’t even know...I don’t know if I can follow you here.” If you don’t already know, I’ll assure you he isn’t just a voice actor. Alan Tudyk is THE voice actor. A former student at the prestigious Julliard, Tudyk has played iconic characters in AI (Sonny), Dodgeball: An Underdog Story (Steve the Pirate), A Knight’s Tale (Wat), and his most recognizable role in the cult classic, Firefly (as Hoban “Wash” Washburne). But lately, he’s been doing some serious work for Disney. He’s voiced over 8 different characters since 2012 from Wreck It Ralph’s bumbling villain, King Candy (which he received a voice actor award for) to Moana’s lovable and unexpected sidekick, Heihei. We try to rank the movies/roles, but honestly, it’s hard...he’s so talented. Whether you were unaware of his talent before listening to this or not, you’ll definitely be searching for his name in the credits when you see the next big Disney flick. Thanks for lending us your ears! If you feel so inclined, check us out on Facebook or Instagram. As always, have a magical week! Ep 62Is It Worth It?

This week in Disney News, are Disney pins going digital? Disney filed for a patent for trading tiles. From the sound of it, you could collect them like pins, but they’d be entirely on your phone. We discuss the implications of this and whether or not we’d be interested. As our main topic, we canvas several Disney-related topics and answer the question: “Is it worth it?” Is it worth purchasing the Memory Maker? Is it worth waiting 3 hours to ride Flight of Passage? Is waiting in line for character meet and greets worth it? Is it worth staying at a Deluxe resort? We have big opinions and tell you where to spend and save in case you’re unsure of how to get the best value for you. Remember that one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to Disney vacations, so we try to give you some caveats that’ll help you assess what you need out of your trip. But no matter what you do, remember it’s Disney, so it’s magical. Remember, a Mickey bar a day keeps the doctor away! (This is in no way medical advice. Please consult your doctor for all things regarding your help. Consult us for all things Disney.) Thank you for lending us your ears and also for reading these messages. We’re pretty sure we just write these just for you, yes you, the one listener who reads these that is most definitely not our moms. (You know…the writing on phone screens is quite small.) Ep 61Most Over/Under Rated Attractions in EPCOT

In Disney News, there are big changes coming to Epcot. As of July 8th, the Liberty Inn closed to make room for a new BBQ restaurant called The Regal Eagle. In addition to this, essentially the whole front of the park (minus Spaceship Earth) is closing to be redone. This week, we talk about the most overrated and underrated Epcot attractions. What rides are the cream of the crop and which rides should Epcot drop? We're your source for definitive opinions about the best rides that do not at all conflict with each other. :) Thanks, as always, for lending us your ears. Ep 60Disney Decade: The 1940s

This week, on our series Disney Decades, we jump right into the most interesting and tumultuous decade yet: the 1940s. The Disney Company is struggling to stay on top with the high cost of animation and the declining foreign market due to World War II. After the smashing success of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, films like Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Bambi don’t quite generate the money that it cost to fund them. Walt feels attacked when his “family” tries to unionize, causing him to fire one of his most valued animators. Also, the U.S. government seizes part of the Disney Studio to house troops after the Pearl Harbor attack. Disney makes propaganda and morale boosting films during this time. Personally, Walt can’t catch a break either. His father dies while he’s away in South America. Despite the hardships Walt and his company face, Disney continues to receive recognition for the innovative nature of his films. Of these, the most notable is the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award at the Oscars. This award is only given on occasion to people who demonstrate consistently high quality in film making. Walt also finds himself embroiled in a bit of controversy after releasing Song of the South, the only movie in the Disney vault to never be released. Trains become a main focal point in Walt’s life after going to a train show. More importantly, the seed for a theme park is planted. The decade wraps up on a high note. The Disney Company wins yet another Oscar, this time for a nature documentary. Thanks as always for lending us your ears. We wouldn’t have a podcast without wonderful listeners like you! Ep 59Best Animated Disney Villians

This week, in Disney News, prices for the American Disney parks are going up again, specifically for the Annual Passholders. (Shocking, right? 😂) Also, after a sad year or so of the animation experience not being in Hollywood Studios, Disney World is set to bring it back. This time, you can draw your favorite characters with a Disney animator in Animal Kingdom at Rafiki’s Planet Watch!! This week’s episode is bad. Not bad as in “don’t listen to this,” but bad because it’s all about the villains. Joe and Angela select Disney’s best villains and discuss why they were so memorably malicious. From strong motivations to horrible acts, to character vices, these characters have their pictures next to the word “evil” in the dictionary. Thanks to the listeners who responded to the question about where Mickey lives. And to the two people who probably read this (one of those is the show editor), thanks for reading and especially for listening. Have a magical week! Ep 58All About FastPass

Oh boy, what a week. Turns out Endgame’s going to be re-released with a bonus 6 minutes! Gotta beat that Avatar record somehow. Our second piece of news leads right into the main topic for the week: FastPass at Disney World are changing in Hollywood Studios. Basically, several of the parks operate off of a tier system with tier 1 rides being the most desired and 2 a little less popular. When booking fast passes, you can only get one tier 1. Up until now, Hollywood Studios hasn’t had this system allowing you to book several of the most popular rides in advance, but with the opening of Galaxy’s Edge, that’ll change. So if you haven’t already guessed, this week’s all about FastPasses. If you’re staying on a Disney property, you can book them 60 days before the first day of your stay. You get 3 a day in one park. After that, you can nab more FastPasses one at a time in any park. Booking FastPasses can be overwhelming, so we give you some tips and tricks to help you get the best ones. We talk a lot about this, but they basically boil down to: 1. You have to plan in advance. 2. Be flexible. 3. Strategically plan your passes for good times. 4. Keep in mind down times and don’t book fast passes for then. Also, in this episode, Joe’s conferred with a Doctorate in Fastpassery and Angela earns a Master’s. Also, we have a special guest: Antony from Antman. Quite the exciting episode! Check us out on Facebook or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode.

Ep 57How Harry Potter Lead to Galaxy's Edge

Happy 85th birthday to Donald Duck whose been causing trouble since 1934! In honor of the lovable and ornery duck, Joe kicks off the pod by quizzing me on some Donald facts. Do I crush his score on the trivia? You’ll have to listen and see! This week, we talk about the opening of Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland. The first week, wait times were pretty low, especially when you contrast them with the 10 hour wait at Universal to ride Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. So far, so good. People seem to love the Galaxy’s Edge addition. The land looks great. The build your own lightsaber (and droid) experience is a hit. Fun fact, you can take your lightsaber with you on the plane as one of your carryons. People don’t love the prices of the merchandise (but if you’re a hard-core fan of Star Wars, the merch may be worth it) and the Millenium Falcon experience can vary greatly depending on your crew. Blue and green milk is a little odd for a lot of people, especially if you’re not a fan of dairy milk alternatives, but come on, you have to try it! We also talk about what we think the impact of Disney losing the deal to Harry Potter Land back in 2003-2004 was on the future of theme parks (spoiler: we speculate it had a MAJOR POSITIVE impact). Thank you as always for listening and remember to smile, spread cheer, and to not only have a magical week yourself, but make sure those around you have one as well! ❤️ Check us out on Facebook or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode.

Ep 55Duffy the Disney Bear

So much news this week! First of all, this is the last week for our contest. Just post a review using whatever podcasting platform you use and then screenshot it. Check out our Facebook and Instagram for more details. Also, as of our recording, Galaxy’s Edge opens this upcoming weekend, but for you time travelers, it’s already happened! It was probably crazy. But yay, Galaxy’s Edge! Speaking of GE, if you have $25,000 just lying around, do we have the souvenir for you! Get your R2D2 at the park and impress all of your house guests for a week before it sits and collects dust. Animal Kingdom this year is joining Magic Kingdom in decorating for the Holiday season. We can’t wait to see what they do! And lastly, in Disney news, someone needs a proofreader and Angela’s available for freelance work. The town of Celebration got a new fountain with Walt’s name on it...except it was spelled wrong. Oops! Do you know who Duffy the Disney Bear is? If not, we’re about to change that with this character-specific episode. In it, we’ll tell you everything from who Duffy is to how he came to be and discuss his popularity explosion overseas. In America, you can find him on some merch or even buy a bear and some outfits to change him into, but Duffy’s an institution that rivals Mickey in the Asian parks. There, he has a whole posse including a girlfriend and several different animal friends including a gremlin-looking cat, an adorable dancing bunny, a baking puppy, and a ukelele-playing turtle. This episode will have you wanting to join or at least experience the Duffy-mania. I’m pretty sure StellaLou will be accompanying us home on our long flight back from Japan. 🐰 🇯🇵 Thank you for your continued support. We really appreciate you allowing our raucous voices to meet your ear holes. Tell your kids, tell your wife, tell everybody about us and until next time...have a fantastic week! Ep 54Frozen the Musical

In this week’s Disney News, if you happen to be one of the lucky people going to Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge this weekend and you happen to overstay your welcome, you’ll be kicked out by Storm Troopers!!! Yes, you read that right, Storm Troopers! (Disclaimer: Enchanted Ears doesn’t endorse overstaying your welcome, but it would be pretty cool to be kicked out by Storm Troopers!!!) Also, to accommodate the increased crowds that Disney World is anticipating for their own opening of Galaxy’s Edge, there will be extra extra magic hours added for guests at Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom. We would like to offer an unpaid internship opportunity to anyone with Rainman-level counting abilities, so the actual capacity of Hollywood Studios would be known. A few listeners posed the question of whether or not Goofy is a cow and not a dog. Joe and I debate and arrive at an official podcast position on this heated debate. This week, we “Let It Go” and tell you all about our amazing experience seeing Frozen on Broadway. There are new songs and almost all of your favorite movie songs performed by high-quality actors. Oaken’s sauna song is hilarious (and a bit risqué), while Elsa’s new song, “Monster,” gives us fabulous insight into exactly how she feels about her powers. Elsa and Anna get a wonderful upgrade in the Broadway version. We can peer much deeper into both of their psyches and get to know them much more as people. The pain is much more real and believable and it makes the musical an amazing addition to the Frozen canon. We rank the three Disney musicals on Broadway which inevitably resulted in me gushing over The Lion King and then trying to express a small amount of interest in the new movie. Joe smacks me down in the funniest (and quite well-deserved) way possible. Thanks for listening. Don’t forget to enter our contest to win some awesome Funko Pop Vinyls. To enter, follow these easy steps. 1. Leave us a review on iTunes or wherever you get your podcast from 2. Screenshot your comment 3. Leave us a comment on our facebook showing that you left a review…yep, it’s that easy! Thanks in advance! Have a Magical Week! Ep 53Disney Decade: The 1930s

In this week’s brief Disney News, there’s a rumored second park in the Shanghai Disney location…and even better, Bob Iger has hinted that it could be a whole park dedicated to Marvel!! For the rest of the episode…. Welcome to the Roaring 30s…for Disney at least. While everyone was suffering through the Great Depression, Disney doubled down and worked hard to stay afloat and to continue innovating. This decade sees the advent of three-strip Technicolor that was used for the “Silly Symphonies” and eventually the multiplane camera that Disney used to film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Many important characters emerge including Goofy, Donald, and the whole Duck crew. But mostly everything in this decade centers around the iconic film that started a revolution in film making and had an Oscar created just for it: Snow White. The film certainly wasn’t easy to make and Walt wanted perfection, but the gamble totally paid off with the highest grossing film to that date. Joe and Angela also come up with a fantastic *cough cough terrible*retirement plan of going around to garage sales and trying to find old Disney artifacts like two knuckle-headed Indiana Joneses. Ep 52Instagram Walls and More Disney World Trip Recap

This week in Disney News, Disney released their cryptic list of movies for the next 8 years. Good news is there will be a lot more Marvel. Disney will own your Christmas season with Star Wars and Avatar. Also, the space-themed restaurant is slated to open this year. Boy-Howdy did we miss a lot talking about our last Disney trip, so this week we review the things we missed in our recap episode. We begin with the Instagram walls that have grown a cult following over the past several years. Let me tell you, Disney has walls everywhere (all buildings have at least one :) ). We discuss the wall that started it all, the Purple Wall and move on to the many other walls that have been given a life of their own after PW's Insta success. I'm not quite sure how we managed to forget our review of the Behind the Seeds Tour at Living With the Land. We had such a great time on this short tour of the Living With the Land facility learning how they keep pests at bay and how they farm mostly everything hydroponically! If you get a chance to go on this fabulous tour, go! Also, while down in Disney, we spent way too much money on Minnie Vans (hey, we had to research for ya'll, right?). It was so nice to go directly to where we wanted in a short time with our knowledgeable and friendly drivers. If you're in a pinch, they're a good way to get around. We also went to the Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy, which just opened March 31st. This kid-centric show was a good way to get out of the heat and check out Disney's cool Lightning McQueen animatronic. The show though...not entirely thrilling. Finally, we couldn't forget to mention our delicious dinner at Beaches & Cream. If you're gluten free and tired of eating sand-tasting bread, go here. They bake it fresh daily and the chicken sandwich was sooo tasty! And the desert...duh. If you've never been...seriously, go. Thank you so much for the support over this first year of our podcast! We really appreciate you listeners. Don't forget to leave us a review. They help with getting new listeners. Also, check out our facebook and Instagram pages. Have a magical week! Also, get your phone ready to snap a few Instagrammable pictures of the new Kylo Ren cupcake and the incredible-looking lightsaber churros! In this episode, have fun playing along as we try to guess the land or ride using the music from that particular place. One of us is incredible at this and the other one not so much. (Spoiler alert: Angela demonstrates her superiority in yet another useless skill. Joe’s good at many things. This isn’t one of them.) how many can you get right? Ep 50Orange Bird

In this week’s Disney News, Disney announces they’re taking a break on Star Wars movies, which is no real surprise after Solo didn’t do as well as expected. Also, Disney finally released that Galaxy’s Edge reservations give you a 4 hour window to explore the park and fit you with shock collars to enforce the time limit. (Okay…not really, but it’d get people out of the park on time, wouldn’t it?) Today, Orange is the new black. We’re discussing Orange Bird. Maybe you’ve heard of him, maybe you haven’t, but if you’ve been to EPCOT lately—or on Instagram for that matter—he’s pretty hard to miss. We go into detail of who he is, where he came from, and talk about his comeback. Back in 1967, Disney struck up a deal with the Florida Citrus Commission to create a loveable character to be featured in orange juice commercials and in the new Walt Disney World Resort’s Enchanted Tiki Room. And unto us, a star was born! Or at least sort of a star. You see, Orange Bird went on a bit of a vacation, which is why a lot of kids raised in the 90s don’t know much about him. But now, he’s back to claim his rightful place in the park. We answer why he went and how he got created in the first place and so much more. Again, special thanks to our listeners for allowing us to reach this amazing milestone of 50 episodes. It seems like we just started, but we’re officially almost at our year marker! Also, thanks to Rob Plays on YouTube, allears.net, and Wikipedia for the amazing information. Check us out on Facebook or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode.

Ep 49Dismantling Our Disney World Trip

Hello! We’re back from Disney and anxious to talk about it! But first, we discuss the latest (week old) Disney news. (Sorry, ‘bout that. Too much excitement over the End Game ticket release last time!) A new trailer for The Lion King dropped and Joe learned his lesson not to bring it up no matter how incredible he thinks it is. Also, the 2019 Food and Wine Festival dates were released ensuring that August 29thwill be the most insane day in park history. In this episode, we go park-by-park reviewing the highlights of the FOOD and the rides and the FOOD, starting in Animal Kingdom. This being our first trip to Disney World since Pandora opened, we discuss all things Pandora. Two incredible fastpass grabs by Joe enabled us to ride Flight of Passage twice, which I’m thankful for. Definitely don’t ride this for the first time on a full stomach. The second ride, though, was a delight. We both appreciated the ride’s unique qualities that make it actually feel and look and smell like you’re on the back of a banshee. All we did in Hollywood Studios was visit Toy Story Land, which was vibrant and so much fun! Slinky Dog Dash and our (untalked about) interaction with Buzz Lightyear made the trip to this park well worth it. (Check the Instagram for the story about Buzz.) And then it was EPCOT…oh EPCOT…the place that all parents love and kids are like, “Hey, can we please go to Magic Kingdom now?” I never understood the love affair either until I developed a palette. I’d say that everything we ate there was the highlight of my trip: poutine, maple popcorn milkshake, Orange Bird Slushie, and the cauliflower dish at The Honey Bee-stro. Plus, we rode Frozen, a ride that will make you love the movie. In Magic Kingdom, we rode the staples, but talked a lot more about the rides that are easy to miss like The Peoplemover and Spaceship Earth. (Hot tip: These two rides are perfect to fall asleep on if you’re tired.) We thoroughly enjoyed the cute Donald Duck cartoon in Mickey’s Philharmagic. And again, after running so much during our trip, we enjoyed sitting down for 10 minutes or so. Finally, we end our trip discussion in Disney Springs. If you have the chance to do the Ralph Breaks VR at The Void before it’s gone, do it! It’s a riveting competition between you and the other characters that I wouldn’t promote nearly as much if I hadn’t beaten Joe. ;) We had a fabulous trip and are so happy to share it with you! Thanks so much for listening and making it all the way down here in the description. Don’t forget to check out our Facebook and Instagram accounts @enchantedearspodcast. Have a magical day! Ep 48The Force was with Us: Our Experience Running the Star Wars Rival Run

Hello, you wonderful balls of sunshine! This week, we still have that Disney glow that you only get when you’ve visited the happiest place on earth. In Disney news, the new Star Wars trailer dropped and gives fans plenty to think about. From new characters (including an adorable new droid) to Rey’s sweet ninja flips to Kylo’s pieced together mask, the trailer already looks better than the whole of the last movie. (Ow…burn.) Also, Disney finally gave more information about their new streaming service, Disney+. The price point and content have both of us saying, “Take our money now!” Our main topic this week is the 2019 Star Wars Rival Run. We discuss our experience running the race, our fatigue with having to get up at 3 am for 2 days in a row, the busing, race expo, route, and pretty much anything else that you’d like to know. The high points of the race were definitely the lasers and character photos. The low was running past the sewage treatment plant and just running in general. We also sprinkle in a few other hot tips about getting around Disney. If you’re thinking about running a 5K, 10K, half, or full marathon, we’d highly suggest trying a Disney one. We had so much fun! Ep 47D23 Fan Club

Most of you have probably heard of D23 because of the Expo held every two years where many major announcements are made. Did you know that it’s a special club, too? We just joined and hope to reap its many benefits. From going on studio tours with our family membership—and bringing Loki and Cas along in special pet strollers and getting an unlimited supply of dirty looks—to receiving discounts at restaurants and stores, joining D23 may just be one of our best adulting decisions ever! Also, we discuss the awesome quarterly magazine that comes with a membership and again…discounts. Everything’s great until Joe reveals to me that we missed out on a behind-the-scenes opportunity on the set of Broadway’s production of The Lion King. With my soul crushed, I spend the rest of the episode trying not to stare out the window and dream of seeing where they keep the costumes and meeting the cast as they perform acoustic versions of the songs just for me. In Disney News, entry to Galaxy’s Edge upon opening is reservation-only to help with crowd control. It’s also timed. Also, they give bathroom passes, which is totally not what I thought they were. The NBA Experience opens August 12th and sounds ballin’. Also, Disney’s in a fight with Scotland over the possession of their beloved national icon, Nessie, which Disney captured and now uses as a ferry to the gondolas. Ep 46Handling Food Allergies at Disney Theme Parks

With our trip to Disney looming over us like a big, heavy sun, I was wondering, what the heck can I eat in Disney now that I’m on a gluten-free diet. The short answer is a lot! Find out the best places to eat, how to prepare and make sure Disney can be prepared to accommodate you, and the best places to get food that’s typically off-limits. Sorry in advance for Joe’s serenade. He only ever failed one class, and that class wasn’t Calculus. Plus, in news, we cover Disney’s new policies regarding strollers, smoking, and ice ice, baby.
