This week, Becky Lucas, an amazingly talented Australian comedian. I have been a big fan of Becky for ages and always wanted to have a chat. I also really admire comedians. I feel the job in itself is one of the hardest jobs to do, to consistently put yourself out of your comfort zone coming up with new content would be extremely difficult and I have a lot of respect for it. She is seriously funny, she even opened for Conan O'Brien and also went on his show in the US. This week on the show I'm joined by a really special guest in Harry Garside. Harry is an Australian boxer who recently returned home from the Olympics where he picked up a Bronze Medal that he'll add to his collection alongside a Gold Commonwealth Games. When you think of fighting, you might be guilty of picturing aggressive, intimidating figures. Harry is definitely intimidating in the ring but outside it, he's an incredibly thoughtful young man intent on breaking trends and social norms that significantly contribute to negative masculinity. Most notably of late he's outlined how ballet gives him an edge, spoken openly about his mental health, wore nail polish in the olympics and planned to wear a dress to the opening ceremony. Lin Jong is a recently retired footballer from the Western Bulldogs. He is such an awesome guy, I have wanted to have him on the show for ages. It was a fascinating chat. This week we have Nick Stone on the show! Nick Stone is a former AFL player with Hawthorn, Collingwood and St Kilda Football Club. He played 20 games across 5 years in the AFL and has some incredible stories. When footy finished, Nick moved over to New York in 2010 to work in investment banking and through working in the US Nick discovered a gap in the coffee and cafe industry - there was nothing that compared to an Australian coffee in the US. With no real experience in hospitality, he opened his first cafe Bluestone Lane in 2013 to remedy the need for an Aussie-style café in America, growing the concept to over 50 stores by the end of 2019. This week on the show one of the worlds worlds most renowned big wave surfers and Australia's own, Mark Mathews. Mark has an incredible story - he grew up in Maroubra, 10kms south east from Sydney. As many of you may know Maroubra was made pretty famous back in the early 2000s from the Bra boys in which Mark was big part of. He spoke about his journey growing up in a pretty tough neighbourhood, pushing the limits in and out of the water, and how he came to surf some of the biggest waves in the world. This week on the show, I am joined by former High Performance Manager of North Melbourne, Collingwood and Carlton Football Club, David Buttifant. Butters, well known for his time spent at Collingwood. He was a pivotal role player in the clubs success, revolutionising training in elite sport, Australia. Constantly pushing the boundaries to find innovation. High altitude training being one of these - taking AFL clubs over to Arizona in the US hiking up Mt Humphreys and trekking the Grand Canyon as well as training in incredible conditions to help find an edge and build resilience. He has an incredible drive in building resilience in young people, hence his new project Resilience builders in which he takes individuals and families of trips including hiking to Mt Everest Base camp to learn about how hard you can really push yourself! One of the most asked questions I get about my days at Princes Park, apart from taking Brett Deledio to the square, is “What is Crippa like?”.
