This week on the Dyl & Friends Podcast, I caught up with one of the greatest small forwards of all time, Stephen Milne. Milne took the hard road getting into the AFL starting his career on the rookie list with the Saints. He ended up playing 275 games and kicked 574 goals! He’s a x2 time All Australian and in my opinion playing the hardest position on the ground! We touched on it all, being the first player to kick 300 goals at Etihad Stadium, Grand Finals, footy trips, coaches, sprays, he even gives us his hardest opponents and his bunnies, the ones he used to know he was in for a big day! This week another I have an incredible guest with an incredible story, David “The OX” Schwarz. David is a former AFL footballer for the Melbourne Football Club. He played 173 games and kicked 244 goals and was a genuine superstar! At 20 years of age he took more marks than Wayne Carey in a year and was on the verge of exploding into one of the games greats, before unfortunately being struck down with 3 ACL injuries in 12 months! Yes 3 ACLs in 12 months! After his first knee reconstruction he was back playing football again just after 14 weeks on the sidelines, which is incredible when in this day and age its a 10-12 month injury. Apart from his AFL career the Ox has had a lot of ups from seeing his father murdered in front of him and battling a gambling addiction that saw him lose an estimated 5 million dollars over his career. Now back on his feet and thriving in the media he celebrates 15 years off gambling and has a lot of lessons for us to learn from. This week I'm lucky enough to chat with one of my favourite players of the modern era, Luke Shuey. Luke is the captain of the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League. He's played 201 games and kicked 136 goals. He is also a Premiership player and the Norm Smith Medalist in the 2018 Grand Final win over Collingwood. We touch on it all, early days playing school footy at Marcelin in the AGSV, his first few years at West Coast struggling with injury, playing in big games, kicking clutch goals and we talk about one of the best games I've ever seen, the 2018 Grand Final vs Collingwood. This is big, real big! I say this a lot but genuinely one of my favourite players of all time on the show - Brendan “The Fevolution” Fevola. For those of you who have been living under a rock - Brendan Fevola is a retired AFL player for for the Carlton & Brisbane Football Clubs, he was easily one of the games most exciting players on and off the field. He played 204 games and kicked 623 goals. He is a 2x Coleman Medalist and 3x All Australian. This week I caught up with one of my most admired people, Kane Lambert. I grew up playing my football with Kane and idolised him and the way he went about it. After he missed out on countless AFL drafts, his determination never dwindled.
