Magashule given 7 days to motivate why ANC should not expel him
Former African National Congress Secretary General, Ace Magashule has been found guilty of misconduct by the party's National Disciplinary Committee after he failed to apologise to party president Cyril Ramaphosa and the party's structures, for unilaterally suspending Ramaphosa in 2021. In announcing the committee's decision, the ANC's current Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula said Magashule has 7 days to justify why he should not be expelled from the party....

"Lack of adequate skills in local municipalities continues to negatively hamper municipal financial"- Auditor-General
The Auditor-General, Tsakani Maluleke says a lack of adequate skills within local municipalities continues to negatively hamper the financial standing of such institutions. Maluleke is currently engaging with members of the Standing Committee on the Auditor General in parliament on Local Government Outcomes. Poor financial planning and inadequate financial controls have been identified as the leading causes of the bad financial state on many municipalities across the country. Maluleke explains...

"No new Cholera cases in the past seven days" - Health Minister, Joe Phaahla
Health Minister Joe Phaahla says laboratory-confirmed cholera cases are spread over three provinces, Limpopo, the Free State and Gauteng, with Gauteng being the epicentre of the outbreak. Phaahla together with officials from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) provided an update on the country's outbreak, which started in February. Phaahla says there's been no new cases in the past seven days...

SABC briefs SCOPA on the broadcaster's annual report
The SABC is currently appearing before the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) to presents its annual report and financial statements for the financial year 2021/22. The committee is hearing the progress made by the SABC on investigations, issues of irregular expenditure and financial accountability. Member of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, Bheki Hadebe, says for the past 5 years the organisation has been failing to deal with the issue of irregular expenditure. He asked what progress has been made and is the organistaion satisfied that in the next financial year it will be able to disclose all instances of irregular expenditures. The SABC's Chief Financial Officer, Yolande van Biljon has been answering questions from members of SCOPA
