News: The D23 expo is getting a new, immersive retail experience called the “Expo Marketplace.” The 27,000 foot space will include everything from limited-time merch to the first items celebrating 100 years of Disney. You’ll find pins, t-shirts, hats, books, plush toys and so much more. Some of these spaces will require a virtual queue boarding pass. More details on a reservation system will come out later this summer and if you’re not able to attend, some of these items will make it to the ShopDisney store. – https://d23.com/d23-expo-marketplace-2022/ There’s some hope that magic key holders won’t have to keep refreshing the availability calendar for days to open up. Disneyland Paris launched a waiting list for Magic Key holders. With the new option, Magic Key holders put themselves on a waiting list for any day that may appear unavailable. If the day opens up, those on top of the waiting list are automatically given a reservation for that day. This is currently only available at the Paris Park, but that’s also where the Lightning Lane started before coming State-side, which definitely helps fuel some of the speculation. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/15/will-disneyland-introduce-a-magic-key-reservation-waiting-list/ Guests that have seen the recently reopened World of Color and Fantasmic! nighttime entertainment may have noticed some updates. For World of Color, some elements were updated since parts to repair them were no longer available. From new 4k projectors to brighter lights on the Incredicoaster, the show looks amazing. Fantasmic! also received an extensive refurbishment to the entire show, which received some tech upgrades in 2017. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/20/how-disneyland-updated-fantasmic-and-world-of-color-special-effects/ There has been a lot of merchandise already on sale for the 50th anniversary of the Main Street Electrical Parade, but some new items have hit the shelves. First up is a 50th anniversary pin for $19.99, which features the Mickey drum float from the start of the parade with the 6.17.22 date on the side. There is also a t-shirt for $39.99 that features Elliot and June 17, 2022 written out. A mug is also on sale for $19.99. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/06/19/whats-new-in-disneyland-resort-creepy-star-wars-busts-now-in-galaxys-edge/ Fans of a certain Space Ranger can now meet their hero in his younger form from the new Lightyear movie. The character is now a face character and not the same version of Buzz from the Toy Story movies. This version fits in well with the new movie since the movie is about the real Buzz that the toy from Toy Story is based on. Guests can meet the new Buzz every hour until 4pm daily. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/06/17/buzz-lightyear-gets-a-new-look-in-disneyland-and-we-have-thoughts/ Several pops of color In Downtown Disney can be traced back to a Colombian-inspired tradition. The floral displays, or silletas, are a celebration of flowers. Fittingly, they start with a massive display from Encanto’s Isabella and move throughout the district. The displays are a big display of inclusion and representation, such as LBGTQ+ Pride, Asian, Pacific Islander and Hawaiian heritage, Judaism, women, Indigenous and First-Nations people, Black, Hispanic, People of Latin heritage and people with different abilities. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/06/encanto-inspired-floral-displays-at-downtown-disney-district-represent-inclusion-at-the-disneyland-resort/ Last week, Cars Land turned 10 years old. The biggest part of the 1 billion dollar expansion of the Disneyland Resort opened on June 15, 2012. The Disney Parks Blog posted 10 ways to celebrate the anniversary. This year, the season will run from September 2nd through October 31st. The standard seasonal decor, Halloween-themed attractions, and photo ops will be back. Haunted Mansion Holiday, the Halloween Screams fireworks, Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark and all the Cars Land favorites will also return. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/06/fall-favorites-return-to-disneyland-resort-beginning-sept-2-2022-with-halloween-time-oogie-boogie-bash-a-disney-halloween-party-and-plaza-de-la-familia/ Along with all the normal Halloween Time festivities, the Oogie Boogie Bash returns on 23 select nights from September 6th through October 31st, this time with the September 10th date being for D23 members only. Tickets will go on sale on June 28th no earlier than 9am Pacific, Magic Key Holders will have early access to a limited amount of tickets, with general sales beginning June 30th. Visit the link in the show notes for all the details. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/06/fall-favorites-return-to-disneyland-resort-beginning-sept-2-2022-with-halloween-time-oogie-boogie-bash-a-disney-halloween-party-and-plaza-de-la-familia/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/06/13/news-prices-and-dates-revealed-for-disneylands-oogie-boogie-bash/ The Disney Parks Blog has announced some new details about the Disneyland After Dark: Grad Nite Reunion events coming up on June 23, 28, and 30th. There will be plenty of locations where guests can dance the night away to all different decades of music. Photo ops will also be available, along with, of course, plenty of fun food and beverage options. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/06/new-details-announced-for-the-first-ever-disneyland-after-dark-grad-nite-reunion-event/ Disneyland Paris celebrated its 30th anniversary back in April, and with it came a new nighttime spectacular that utilized drones. Disneyland is exploring ways to use drones in future spectaculars, but is still very much in the blue sky, or early planning stages. One of the challenges is the location of the park near neighborhoods and highways. Other massive drone shows take place in more rural areas like desserts. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/10/disneyland-explores-ways-to-use-aerial-drones-in-nighttime-spectaculars/ This past Sunday, a favorite classic villain returned to Tomorrowland. Darth Vader is now meeting again the the Star Wars Launch Bay for a limited time. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/06/11/darth-vader-is-returning-to-disneyland-for-a-limited-time/ Not all is happily ever after at Snow White’s Enchanted Wish at Disneyland. Most of the projections after the poison apple scene have not been working recently. This doesn’t make the attraction un-rideable, but it does lose a lot of the magic of the re-imagined attraction. – https://www.micechat.com/323777-disneyland-update-poison-apples-summer-crowds-spider-fail/ Finally, there have been some progress happening at the entrance to Tomorrowland! However, these are not the changes that we had been promised when the old french fry rocks had been removed. No word on if this is temporary, or the new plan for the entrance. – https://www.micechat.com/323777-disneyland-update-poison-apples-summer-crowds-spider-fail/ A new dance party is happening nightly in Tomorrowland throughout the summer. Stitch’s Interplanetary Beach Party Blast features some of your favorite characters in space suits performing groovy dance moves. It runs from 7pm-11pm nightly. – https://www.micechat.com/323777-disneyland-update-poison-apples-summer-crowds-spider-fail/ Fans of Buzz Lightyea

Use coupon code DLWEEKLY to get the discount. News: Some unconfirmed information set the online theme park community into a frenzy this week. Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Tiana from Princess and the Frog, was interviewed on the “Kelly and Ryan” talkshow and made a comment that the Splash Mountain refurbishment had a projected opening of 2024. This is the first time that a solid timefram has been spoken about. Disney would not confirm of deny the information, but released a statement that they will have more to share at the Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans in July. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ At Star Wars Celebration last week, it was announced at one of the panels that new scenes would be coming to Star Tours. No details have been released on what the scenes will be, but it is always a welcome addition to have more options. Once we know more, we will be sure to talk about it on a future episode! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/27/disney-hints-at-new-star-tours-scenes/ As we reported last week, Radiator Springs Racers was forced to close after an incident where smoke was coming from one of the ride vehicles. After a 10-day closure, the attraction reopened on Friday, June 3rd. Still no official word on what the cause of the incident was, but a former Disneyland Maintenance Cast Member told MiceChat that the ride vehicles break down regularly and curcuit breakers in each car will cause the vehicle to stop when problems arise. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/03/disneyland-reopens-radiator-springs-racers-after-smoking-car-closes-ride-for-more-than-a-week/ and https://www.micechat.com/322588-disneyland-news-radiator-springs-racers-incident-blue-bayou-return-info/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disneyland/fantasmic-dinner-packages/availability-modal/ Guests at Disneyland can dine at a favorite restaurant that has recently reopened in a limited capacity. The Blue Bayou has returned and is not taking online reservations, but guests can join the walk-up wait list for lunch or dinner at the podium at the restaurant, or through the Disneyland mobile app. Pirates of the Caribbean is still closed for refurbishment, so the view may not be as magical as normal. The Fantasmic! dining package lists reservation times starting on June 16th. – https://twitter.com/DisneyParks/status/1532803837068824578 MiceChat was able to obtain aerial photos of Toon Town progress this week. From the air, we can see that all of the pavement in the land has been removed and is currently dirt. The facade of the El CapiTOON theater is looking more and more complete. The area where the new park will be located has been cleared and awaiting work to start. Both fountains in the land have also been removed, along with the gazebo in front of the City Hall building. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ The former entrance to Tarzan’s Treehouse has come out from behind walls this week. The area is much more open now for guest traffic heading out of Adventureland toward the bridge over the Pirates queue. Once again, there is not any theming on the new concrete. The lack of the entrance also allows parts of New Orleans Square to be visible throughout Adventureland. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ We are one week into June, and Celebrate Soulfully has officially kicked off at Disneyland. In Disney California Adventure, groups have been performing at the Hollywood Pictures Backlot stage, and in front of Carthay Circle daily, and seasonal food offerings scattered about. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ For anyone who has never s

Use coupon code DLWEEKLY to get the discount. News: A few months ago, the top two Magic Key levels were listed as sold out. This week, the bottom two Magic Keys have also sold out. There is no word on when or if they will go back on sale. Speculation online thinks that this is because of the impending lawsuit around reservations and access tied to the Magic Key program. Even more speculation online thinks that the program may get reworked again before going back on sale. Only time will tell. – https://www.micechat.com/323209-disneyland-news-magic-key-locked-new-ca-resident-ticket-offer/ For Weeklyteers who are going to the park and who aren’t Magic Keyholders, there is a great ticket deal available! California residents can purchase summer tickets to Disneyland starting as low as $83 per day. The ticket is a 3-day, one park per day ticket for $249 for Monday through Thursday admission, with weekend tickets starting at $299. For $60 more per ticket, park hopping can be added. Tickets are valid for trips from June 3th and September 15th, 2022. Not a bad value to get to see all the nighttime entertainment that has returned. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/31/new-ticket-deal-announced-for-select-disneyland-guests/ Star Wars Celebration was this past weekend across the street from the Disneyland Resort at the Anaheim Convention Center. A lot of Star Wars news was announced, even some parks news! Boba Fett and Fennec Shand were announced to be coming to Star Wars: Galaxys Edge, and then they were there over the weekend. Din Djarin, better known as The Mandalorian, and Grogu, better known as the Child were also announced to be showing up in the area soon. This is a break from the strict timeline that Imagineering has placed on the area, but promise that the characters from the different eras will not interact or be in the same area at the same time. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/13175/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_May_31__June_5_2022#news3 Anyone who has been to Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars Galaxys Edge will know DJ Rex spinning tunes for the patrons of the establishment. Soon, guests can listen to some of his tracks on a new album that will be released. No firm date at the moment, but we will keep you updated once we see it online. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/27/videos-dj-r3x-from-disneys-ogas-cantina-is-releasing-an-album/ Signs outside of the Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland tease the return of the combined museum/store/photo op. No word yet on when this will reopen, but Cast Members are stationed outside of the location telling guests it should be returning soon. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ This past weekend, Fantasmic! returned to the Rivers of America to delight guests once again. The projections look clear and bright, the show scenes look fresh, and the show was amazing as always. The best way to get a great seat for the show is to book the River Belle Terrace dining package for $50 per guest, since they are using the same reserved seating area that the Blue Bayou usually uses. Once the Blue Bayou reopens, this area is expected to be shifted to the side more to accommodate the Blue Bayou guests. The Hungry Bear location is across from the Haunted Mansion and offers a side viewing angle for the show. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ June is here, which means that the busy summer season has started at Disneyland. The Disneyland Forever fireworks show will now play nightly with fireworks 7 days a week. During the non-summer and holiday season, Mickey’s Mix Magic was played with projections only during the week, with fireworks on the weekends only. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneylan

Outside of the parks, GCH Craftsman Bar at the Grand Californian will offer Jerk Seasoned Beef Tenderloin Skewers & Coconut Shrimp, with raspberry rum sauce! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/05/cooking-up-the-magic-pride-rock-punch-recipe-plus-celebrate-soulfully-delights-coming-soon-to-disneyland-resort/ For those Weeklyteers who can’t make it to the parks for the Pride Rock Punch, you are in luck! The Disney Parks Blog posted the recipe so you can make this thirst quenching beverage at home! With just 8 ingredients and a few minutes of time, and you can make this at home for 4-6 people, or servings if you aren’t sharing! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/05/cooking-up-the-magic-pride-rock-punch-recipe-plus-celebrate-soulfully-delights-coming-soon-to-disneyland-resort/ Fantasmic! fans rejoice! The return of the biggest nighttime spectacular is just a few days away as we record this episode. Most of the infrastructure has been updated and refurbished to get everything show ready, and the work on the pathways along the riverfront are wrapping up as well. We can’t wait to see how the show looks after its long hibernation since COVID. – https://www.micechat.com/322309-disneyland-update-the-cost-of-magic-project-gateway/ A few episodes ago, we talked about the possible value of the Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge where guests can book a spot to have some goodies and watch the fireworks from the top section of the Star Wars Launch Bay. For $60, guests can come and go as they please from the lounge, and are treated to an entree, side, and dessert with unlimited assorted beverages. Food is ordered from the Galactic Grill upon check-in and then brought into the lounge by the guest. A badge and lanyard is also provided. Giant games are also on hand to keep everyone occupied. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/22/review-is-disneys-exclusive-tomorrowland-lounge-worth-the-we-found-out/ Guests who are seeking adventure and salty old pirates won’t have to wait too much longer. The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction is not listed on the refurbishment calendar after July 1st, so it could open around that time! Disney has not announced an official date, and there are no dining reservations offered for the Blue Bayou for that time either, but with any luck guests will be celebrating the 4th of July with the swashbuckling pirates. – https://www.micechat.com/322309-disneyland-update-the-cost-of-magic-project-gateway/ Something that Avengers Campus has been missing since its opening last year is more shade and seating. Disney has listened and some covered tables and chairs have been installed next to the Avengers Headquarters. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/05/seating-installed-next-to-avengers-headquarters-at-avengers-campus-in-disney-california-adventure/ So this amazing movie came to Disney+ last week and the reviews have been pretty positive. Guests can now meet the stars from the movie at Disney California Adventure. Chip and Dale from the new Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers are appearing at the entrance to Hollywood Land, to the left of the Hyperion Theater for meet and greets. The crime fighting duo are dressed in their classic outfit from the TV show. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/05/chip-n-dale-meeting-guests-as-the-rescue-rangers-at-disney-california-adventure-to-celebrate-movie-premiere-on-disney/ We aren’t going to cover this too much until things are finalized, but there is a change being

Fantasmic! debuted on May 13, 1992 at Disneyland. Over the years, the show has added and subtracted different scenes and elements. Some of those include the 2009 upgrade to digital projection and the current 45-foot tall dragon, known as Murphy! In 2017, new scenes and songs were added including Aladdin. The show has been performed more than 11,000 times since its debut. The Red Car Trolley should be traveling on the tracks on Buena Vista Street and down Hollywood Land. No exact date was mentioned, but it should return before the full swing of summer. Fans of Trader Sams may be excited with updates to the menu at the popular restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel. Takoyaki, which is fried octopus cakes drizzled with unagi and togarashi aioli, and topped with green onions and bonito flakes. We all know about the new text on the lead float, and the reimagined finale float, but even more was changed! The intro to the parade has been reworked to include part of Walt’s opening day speech, and the music has been updated for the finale float. A little bit of extra magic was added to the finale float along “its a mall world” and Main Street. Projections that tie into the Mary Blair theming of the new float are presented as it passes guests. – https://www.laughingplace.com/w/articles/2022/04/21/interview-how-disneyland-is-celebrating-the-50th-anniversary-of-the-main-street-electrical-parade/ and https://www.micechat.com/309935-big-disneyland-entertainment-returns-for-2022/ With the return of the Electrical Parade, two items have been very popular. The Eliot popcorn bucket, and the Turtle sipper drew long lines from guests wanting to get their hands on this fun collectible. Both of these items are available at multiple popcorn carts and dining locations, so be sure to check around if you are trying to get your hands on one of these. New for something this popular is the ability to mobile order these through the Disneyland app. This can save hours waiting in line. – https://www.micechat.com/309935-big-disneyland-entertainment-returns-for-2022/ The Main Street Electrical Parade may have stolen the limelight, but World of Color has also returned this past week. Unlike the Electrical Parade, this show is presented in its previous form with no new updates. Guests wanting to get the best viewing possible will want to either book a dining or dessert package, or grab a virtual queue reservation prompt at noon. The virtual queue spaces have been filling up almost instantly after being available. – https://www.micechat.com/320184-disneyland-update-electric-entertainment-magic-key-blues-rumors-too/ Character meets and greets are back at Disneyland delighting guests. A variety of interactions can be had around the parks from standing in line to see a favorite character, to a casual encounter with a character walking around. Disney is rolling out a virtual queue system for guests to use through the Disneyland mobile app to grab a spot for the show. Guests will need to have entered Disney California Adventure on a one-park ticket, or Disneyland on a park hopper ticket to be able to get the reservation in the virtual queue. The virtual queue will open at noon every day the show runs. Guests will receive notifications 45 minutes before the show starts to head to either a blue or yellow gate to enter the seating area. Guests can still walk up to see the show, but reservations are highly recommended. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/dazzling-world-of-color-returns-on-april-22-to-disney-california-adventure-park/ Character meet and greets started up again this week, without Genie+ required like in Walt Disney World. Since January, the Florida parks have offered four different meet and greets as part of the Genie+ service. So, at Disneyland, guests can now get up close to their favorites to get hugs, high fives, and autographs for the first time since the pandemic began in 2020. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/04/13/disneyland-wont-use-genie-for-character-meet-and-greet-photo-ops/ For those of you who like spoilers, the Disney Parks Blog posted a preview of the Main Street Electrical Parade, along with footage of the new float. Along with the new float for the finale, the drum sign that Mickey rides on has also been updated with “50 Years,” noting the 50th anniversary of the classic parade. The reimagined “To Honor America” float looks great with the new Mary Blair inspired Disney characters and fits right in with the rest of the parade. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/first-look-at-the-new-grand-finale-in-the-main-street-electrical-parade-debuting-april-22-at-disneyland-park/ MiceChat had some eyes in the skies recently that gives us some insight on the progress being made in Mickey’s Toontown! We have the article linked in the show notes showing that Chip and Dale’s Treehouse has been removed, and all of the paving, along with the two fountains in the land have been removed. The gazebo in front of the City Hall in Toontown has also been taken down. – https://www.micechat.com/319510-disneyland-update-pruning-disneyland-treehouses/ Tarzan’s Treehouse has been under scrims since last September when it abruptly closed to guests. Disney had not addressed why this was, until this week. The current plan for the attraction, which has stood in Adventureland since 1962, is to remove the entrance to the attraction which blocks guest flow, and to eventually re-theme it to something else. MiceChat speculated one of the options would be back to the Swiss Family Robinson since Disney+ was working on a series based on the classic, but our sources say that series has been put on hold for now. Another option is theming it to Encanto. We will keep you updated when we have more solid information on what it will transform into. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/04/18/disneyland-to-give-tarzans-treehouse-a-new-theme/ One of the most iconic songs from the Disney Parks has been inducted into the Library of Congress. “it’s a small world” was first heard on the attraction at the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair. The fair had the theme of “Peace Through Understanding,” which fits right in with the attraction that was moved to Disneyland after the fair ended. The song was one of 25 recordings “worthy of preservation for all time based on their cultural, historical or aesthetic importance in the nation’s recorded sound heritage.” – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/04/14/disneylands-iconic-its-a-small-world-song-inducted-into

This year, there are THREE games in the Eggstraviganza! Each board is $9.99 plus tax, and can be purchased at select merchandise locations around the resort. One game board is for Disneyland park, one is for Disney California Adventure, and finally one for Downtown Disney. Once guests have found all the eggs, the game boards can be returned for one of six collectable eggs. Redemption locations are at the Plaza Point on Main Street, Elias & Co. on Buena Vista Street, and Disney’s Pin Traders in Downtown Disney. The eggstraviganza is available March 31st through April 17th. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/03/eggstravaganza-is-hippity-hoppity-fun-at-the-disneyland-resort/ The Disneyland Resort honored 100,000 years of work from Cast Members with two parties at Disney California Adventure last week. The party featured an open bar and an all-you-can-eat buffet. The cast members that were celebrated were those with over 10 years of service. This included 102 that worked for 40 years at Disneyland, 46 who worked 45 years, and 14 who worked 50 years! Half of the attractions and more than two-dozen Disney, Pixar, and Marvel characters were on hand. It was the largest employee service celebration in Disneyland history. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/03/28/disneyland-honors-100000-years-of-work-with-employee-service-celebration/ A sad bit of news to report this week as one of, if not the most famous cast members at the resort is retiring! Maynard, who Tage has been aware of since the late 90s, is stepping away from the Happiest Place on Earth on April 1st. This isn’t an April fools joke though! We were lucky enough to meet him at the Enchanted Tiki Room during our visit in December. He was almost as big of a character as Mickey Mouse himself. Guests were always in for a treat when he was at a location. Disneyland just won’t be the same without him, but he deserves some time to himself in retirement! – https://www.micechat.com/317538-disneyland-cast-member-maynard-smith-retires/ Calling all single riders! For the first time since the attraction opened, Web Slingers will offer a single rider line. The new single rider entrance is located between the stand-by entrance and the Lightning Lane entrance. The Disney Food Blog reported that they waited just 17 minutes in the single rider line when the stand-by line was 65 minutes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/24/single-rider-line-now-available-for-web-slingers-a-spider-man-adventure-in-disneyland/ With Fantasmic! retuning in the next couple of months and Pirates of the Caribbean down for an extended refurbishment, it is the perfect time to re-imagine the waterfront of New Orleans Square. Walls went up almost two weeks ago and work is underway to remove some of the elevated sections of the walkway to provide for more queuing options for Pirates, and better crowd flow for Fantasmic! From the view over the construction walls, the planters have gone away, but the trees have remained. – https://www.micechat.com/317860-dateline-disneyland-disney-dining-drama-downtown-disney-demolition/ One place that the trees have not been spared is in the Pirates Queue where the two older trees have been trimmed back for removal soon. The trees are planned to be replaced in this location to keep the much needed shade while waiting in line for Pirates. – https://www.micechat.com/317860-dateline-disneyland-disney-dining-drama-downtown-disney-demolition/ Another experience from a Galaxy Far, Far Away is coming to Tomorrowland at the end of April. Starting on April 29th, Hyperspace Mountain will launch guests into the Star Wars univers

News: Last week was the last week for Toontown as we knew it. The entire land has now closed and will reopen sometime next spring with a complete renovation. The week leading up to the closure saw a lot of guests getting in their last visit before it turns into something quite new and refreshed. This is the first time that we are aware of that an entire land has been closed for a remodel as extensive as this since the New Fantasyland in the early 80’s. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ Encanto fans can now meet Mirabel in a new location at the resort. Mirabel’s meet and greet has moved from the Paradise Garden area of Disney California Adventure, where she was located during the Festival of the Holidays, to Zocalo Park in Frontierland. The lines to meet her have been long, so be prepared to wait a bit if you want to get a picture with her. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ One of our Weeklyteers will be very excited at this next piece of news! Tinker Bell has returned to Pixie Hollow, the area between Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and the hub. Tinker Bell has not been in her hollow since sometime in 2020 before the closure of the parks. This is a welcome addition to the meet and greet lineup and is sure to be popular. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ Captain Marvel must be on a mission elsewhere as the jet for her meet and greet has been removed from the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. The area is now behind constructions walls. Who knows what this location will become in the future. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ The new shop in Fantasyland that took over the old Heraldry shop has opened. Merlin’s Marvelous Miscellany opened this past week. Most of the merchandise in this location is available elsewhere around the resort, except that some Peter Pan items that are usually just sold in the UK pavilion in Epcot. The details around this cozy shop are the real star here and are a must stop for any Sword in the Stone fans! – https://www.micechat.com/316633-abracadabra-merlins-marvelous-miscellany-opens-at-disneyland/ Disneyland continues to work on infrastructure for the nighttime entertainment in both parks. This week, a new canopy was installed over the top of the pits to the Fantasmic! fountains. What could this mean? MiceChat suggests that it could be new show elements being worked on or installed that will be part of the returning show. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ With the changes coming to New Orleans Square soon, some other things are also disappearing. The two Ficus trees in the courtyard of Pirates of the Caribbean are being taken out due to disease. Hopefully new trees and their much needed shade are put back in some capacity for the queue. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ We are already half way through March, which means that St. Patrick’s Day is almost here! To celebrate, the Red Rose Taverne in Disneyland is offering “the Green Stuff,” which is a mint white chocolate mousse, chocolate make, and mint chocolate chips and chocolate cookie crumbs on a shortbread cookie. Corn Dog Castle in Disney California Adventure will offer their dogs coated in a green corn dog batter on March 17th only. Also only available on March 17th is the Strawberry Elderflower Whiskey at the Hollywood Lounge. Some other options around the resort are a Leprechan Cupcake at GCH Craftsman’s Grill, and a St. Patrick’s Day Whoopie Pie at the GCH Holiday Cart. For the full list, visit the link in our show notes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/03/foodie-guide-to-st-patricks-day-2022-from-coast-to-coast/ March is Women’s History Month, and the Disneyland Resort is celebrating in a number of ways. Minnie Mouse is the star of the celebration with the floral Minnie design that is currently taking the place of the standard floral Mickey in front of the train station. Downtown Disney is welcoming back Marcella Swett, who was the artist behind the Black History Month chalk drawings. to create drawings for Women’s History Month. Her creations will be on

News: Classic character meet and greets could be coming back soon! During a Q&A session at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, & Telecom Conference this week, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Walt Disney Company Christine McCarthy said they should be returning “soon.” She pointed to the decline in Covid cases as a good indicator of the safety of the meet and greets. She also stated that meet and greets could help with long lines that have been at the parks recently. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/07/news-face-to-face-character-meet-and-greets-returning-soon-to-disney-parks/ and https://www.ocregister.com/2022/03/07/when-will-disneyland-let-mickey-mouse-hug-visitors-again/ At the same conference, we got some insight on the capacity of the parks currently. A question came up asking about the current capacity and if it was back to 100%. McCarthy said they are not back to full capacity, but they are close. When asked if the capacity would go back to pre-covid levels, her answer was no. The way in which they manage the parks is different now. Disney is looking forward to bringing back nighttime entertainment as that will help with the crowds that are happening now. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/07/are-disney-parks-back-at-full-capacity-yet-an-executive-answers/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/03/disney-may-never-return-to-former-capacity-to-avoid-parks-bursting-at-the-seams-says-executive/ The first Villains Nite is happening as we record this episode, with the second nite on March 10th. The Fudge Easter Eggs that the food artisans at Disneyland create for Easter this year are rumored to be returning! Each egg has a surprise flavor inside. For those guests who would rather spoil the surprise, checking the label and looking at the ingredients is a good way to find out the filling. A Cast Member told the Disney Food Blog that they could be back as early as this past Sunday. Once they are available, they can be purchased in the Candy Palace. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/05/the-iconic-disneyland-easter-eggs-are-returning-soon/ A new treat has landed at Lamplight Lounge for the Food and Wine Festival. News: The President of the Disneyland Resort, Ken Potrock, gave an interview to the Orange County Register last week. He discussed changes at the parks, the new normal, and more. He states that the pandemic gave the resort an opportunity to rethink things. If they don’t work out, or need adjustments, that is ok, because Disneyland is continuously evolving. Ken also states that the new normal is almost here, with more yet to come. Finally, he said that Disney is working hard to bring characters from movies and tv to the parks much faster than in the past. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/02/24/qa-disneyland-president-ken-potrock-on-change-momentum-and-the-new-normal/ With the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, many thought that Project Stardust, the initiative to widen walkways and improve guest flow throughout the park, was done. Well, it looks like the terraced areas in New Orleans Square may be next on the list of things to change soon. MiceChat reports that the elevated areas that are not wheelchair or stroller accessible may be removed soon to allow for better guest flow and accessibility. This would also help with the extended queue for Pirates that has been a problem since the introduction of Genie+ and Lightning Lane. – https://www.micechat.com/315458-disneyland-news-update-flattening-new-orleans-square/ The trams have finally returned! Guests don’t have to walk all the way to and from the front gates any longer, unless they want to. There was a special reopening ceremony for the trams, with Disneyland President Ken Potrock, Disney Ambassador Nataly Guzman, and, of course, Mickey and Minnie! On the day the trams came back into service, there were 13 trams in circulation. – https://www.micechat.com/314063-disneyland-trams-returning/ World of Color will be delighting guests once again soon, so work has been going on around the clock. One of the interesting things that has changed is the new projectors and housing for the show. The new buildings and projectors are much larger than the old versions. This could mean that the show will be brighter and have clearer images on the mist screens. – https://www.micechat.com/315458-disneyland-news-update-flattening-new-orleans-square/ It has been a few years now since the comic and cinematic universe lost one of it’s most iconic creators. To honor Stan Lee’s 100th birthday coming up in December, a plaque was installed in Avengers Campus. The new plaque is located at the entrance to Avengers Campus. It reads “We dedicate Avengers Campus to the incomparable Stan Lee. “That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt a real superhero.” Thank you, Stan, for inspiring the hero within each of us. You have made us all True Believers.” – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/02/stan-lees-legacy-honored-at-avengers-campus-in-disney-california-adventure-park/ Southern California Weeklyteers who are also AAA members, there are some ticket deals that might help you have a few dollars next time you go to the parks. No specific details have been released on what will be offered in February, but we will keep you posted as news is released. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/16/disneyland-magic-key-holders-prepare-to-be-celebrated-for-a-whole-month-next-year/ An unhappy Magic Key Holder has filed a lawsuit against Disney for “deceiving it’s most loyal fan base by artificially limiting theme park capacity and blocking passholders with ‘no blockout’ annual passes from making reservations.” The lawsuit is a $5 million dollar suit filed on behalf of all Disneyland Magic Key holders claiming that Disney “relegated them to ‘second class’ ticket holders by artificially limiting Magic Key reservations and the number of passholders that can visit on any given day.” Disneyland has said that they will “vigorously defend our position as the case proceeds.” – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/12/16/disneyland-passholder-lawsuit-alleges-magic-key-deceptively-advertises-no-blockout-dates/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/20/disney-responds-to-5-million-magic-key-and-park-reservation-lawsuit/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/magic-key-terms-conditions/ When we were in the parks a couple of weeks ago, there were quite a few PhotoPass photographers who were trying to take amazing photos, and control the crowds at the same time. This week, it appears that they have received some help at Sleeping Beauty Castle with rops to direct guests around the optimal PhotoPass photo area. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ For guests that have been pre-screened for the Disability Access Service or DAS (pronounced DAAHS) now have a new option available in the Disneyland App. Return times can be reserved through the app after the service has been linked to a ticket, making it unncessary to visit with a guest relations cast member to make a reservation. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ Single bobsled riders should take note of this next news item. The single rider line has moved at the Matterhorn from the area where the Lightning Lane return area was, to the right side exit of the attraction, towards the teacups. This should help alleviate at least some of the congestion that can happen where the three lines come together at the entrance. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ With the opening of the Plaza Point Holiday Shoppe on Main Street, the holiday shop in Fantasyland has been re-themed. The location, now called Merlin’s Marvelous Miscellany, received a new sign sporting the new name last week. No information on what will be offered in the shop just yet. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ The Disney Parks Blog has some festive holiday digital wallpapers available for download. The Main Street Electrical Parade will return to Main Street in time to celebrate its 50th anniversary in June. Lunar New Year and Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festivals are returning in 2022. The Lunar New Year celebration in 2022 is based on the Year of the Tiger, so Tigger will be joining the festivities. Raya, from Raya and the Last Dragon will make her debut at Disneyland for the celebration as well. The Lunar New Year runs January 21st through February 13th. Starting March 4th and running through April 26th, the Food and Wine Festival will return. Last week, Jessica Rabbit, dressed in her best detective outfit, made her appearance in the attraction. A new figure was placed next to the car trunk that she used to be inside of, then where she held the sledgehammer, she has been changed over to the new look, and finally, her silhouette has been updated in the queue to reflect the new look. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/11/photos-new-detective-jessica-rabbit-animatronic-debuts-at-disneyland/ and https://www.micechat.com/309922-roger-rabbit-cover-up-at-disneyland-jessicas-new-starring-role/ The Disability Access Service, better known as “DAS” has been improved! Starting with visits on December 20th, guests who utilize the service can pre-register for the service virtually with a Cast Member. To do this, guests use a live video chat feature as early as 30 days prior to their visit, but no less than 2 days before arrival. Guests can then book up to two one-hour return windows for select experiences, per day in advance. In the future, Disney says that guests enrolled in the system will be able to same-day self-select an attraction, without having to visit with guest relations. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/07/guests-can-now-virtually-pre-register-for-disneylands-disability-access-service/ It was great to be able to ride it’s a small world on it’s first day of operation for the holiday season, but it took a lot of work to get it open! The Disney Parks Blog documented the process. The underground maintenance room of the attraction, known as “the pit” flooded on November 10th, while refilling was underway. Almost all of the ride control machinery is in the pit, and was submerged in at least 7 feet of water. Twenty different teams sprung into action to get the attraction working again. They set a timeline of 4 weeks to get it operational again. More than 200,000 gallons of water needed to be pumped out of the pit before teams could even begin to determine the damage. Teams worked to determine what could be cleaned and salvaged, and what needed to be replaced. Many of the spare parts which they could use were stored in the same pit. The team reached out to small world attractions around the world to get the needed parts. They met the goal of under 4 weeks and reopened the attraction on December 6th. The timeline was expected to be several months under normal conditions. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/how-disneyland-resort-cast-rallied-to-open-its-a-small-world-holiday/ We saw first hand how the launch of the Genie system in Disneyland went last week. The first hour or so worked well as we were able to buy our Genie+ service, and make a couple of Lightning Lane reservat

News: A holiday tradition is returning to the parks next week! The famous Disneyland Resort candy canes will be on sale again at the Candy Palace And Candy Kitchen on Main Street December 7th, 9th, 15th, 21st, and 23rd. Over at Disney California Adventure, they will be on sale December 8th, 14th, 16th, and 22nd at Trolley Treats on Buena Vista Street. A mobile waitlist system will be in place to get one of these confections, and there is a limit of 1 per guest, with no discounts accepted. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/11/foodie-guide-to-holiday-candy-at-disneyland-resort/ The Candlelight Processional will again take place at Disneyland, after not being opened last year. There are two nights, with four total performances on December 4th and 5th at 5:30pm and 7:45pm. If you are not a member of the media, a Club 33 member, or an invited guest, your best bet to see the performance will be for the second performance each night as the limited seating area is cleared in-between performances. – https://www.micechat.com/308957-disneyland-update-candy-canes-candlelight-holiday-surprise/ The hotels of the Disneyland Resort have finished their holiday transformations this year. Some of the things that guests can experience include an under the sea themed Christmas tree at the Paradise Pier Hotel, a vintage-inspired mural at the Disneyland Hotel, and, of course the massive tree, with ornaments inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement of California at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. In addition, the gingerbread house at the Grand Californian is a site to behold, with treats for sale nearby. Santa Claus will be at each of the hotels from November 25th through December 24th, with handbell carolers at the Grand Californian now through January 9th, and holiday carolers strolling between the Disneyland Hotel and the Paradise Pier Hotel December 15th through the 25th. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/11/the-holidays-are-magical-at-the-hotels-of-the-disneyland-resort/ We talked about it’s a small world’s problems that came from flooding of the attraction just prior to it reopening for the holiday season. No official updates, but MiceChat reports that people are working around the clock to get the attraction open as soon as possible. The Disneyland calendar continues to push the “refurbishment” listed out one day at a time, hoping for a miracle. Our sources indicate that a miracle is what it will take to get it opened before the end of the holiday season. – https://www.micechat.com/308957-disneyland-update-candy-canes-candlelight-holiday-surprise/ Avengers Campus has been terrific in how often different Avengers and other Marvel characters cycle into and out of the new land. This time, Hawkeye and Kate Bishop from the new Disney+ series Hawkeye will be battling the Tracksuit Mafia, then taking part in meet and greets with guests. The battle will take place on select days on the rooftop of Avengers Headquarters. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/11/24/catch-hawkeye-defending-avengers-campus-in-disney-california-adventure/ Splash Mountain is going down for refurbishment starting on January 10th. Some online think that this will begin the changeover to The Princess and the Frog theme that is coming sometime in the future. Since there has not been any word from Disney on this, we are going to assume that this is the annual maintenance for the attraction, just like Grizzly River Run each winter at the resort. If anything changes, or gets announced, we will let you know! – https://www.micechat.com/262305-breaking-news-splash-mountain-to-become-princess-and-the-frog-themed/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/11/30/news-2-popular-rides-will-temporarily-close-soon-in-disneyland/ For guests wanting to upgrade to a Magic Key, the options are getting less and less. Last week, we reported on the Dream Key being sold out, and now the Believe Key has also sold out. The only keys left are the Enchant Key, and the SoCal only Imagine Key. This follows Annual Pass sales being suspended in Walt Disney World to help control the level of crowds in the parks. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/11/24/news-another-disneyland-resort-magic-key-pass-has-sold-out/ Amaz

News: Olaf has worked his magic, because something is coming to Disneyland that was never expected to: MagicBands! Not just any MagicBands, the new MagicBand +. The new MagicBand+ will offer “glow with the show” type color changing lights, haptic vibrations, and gesture recognition. The new version will allow guests to interact with things in the park, making it a more immersive experience. The previous features of the MagicBands like theme park tickets, room keys, and purchases will also still be available. MagicBand+ is expected to debut in Disneyland in 2022, after Walt Disney World. – https://d23.com/just-announced-disney-parks-shares-new-details-on-guardians-of-the-galaxy-cosmic-rewind-the-30th-anniversary-of-disneyland-paris-and-more/ and https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/09/just-announced-magicband-will-debut-in-2022-at-walt-disney-world-resort-as-part-of-50th-anniversary-celebration/ The cancelling of the new hotel on the west side of Downtown Disney a few years ago left everyone wondering what was going to happen to the space that is now empty, like the old AMC theater location. At the Destination D event this weekend, we got a glimpse into what is planned. The old AMC theater building will be demolished, and a new green space with room for guests to lounge and relax will be in it’s place. The area will also have a stage for performances. This means that the current Starbucks, Earl of Sandwich, and Sugarboo & Co. will again be forced to close for a second time. The concept art does show a building to the east of the area that may offer a place for these establishments in the future, but no announcements have been made. – https://d23.com/just-announced-disney-parks-shares-new-details-on-guardians-of-the-galaxy-cosmic-rewind-the-30th-anniversary-of-disneyland-paris-and-more/ It has been a while since we have heard anything about the new Disney Vacation Club tower coming to the Disneyland Hotel in the future. Work has been progressing on the site recently, and Disney showed off some more concept art from the project, including what the rooms will look like. The new room design will take inspiration from the “sketching style of Walt Disney himself.” The new tower will feature 350 guest rooms and should open in 2023. – https://d23.com/just-announced-disney-parks-shares-new-details-on-guardians-of-the-galaxy-cosmic-rewind-the-30th-anniversary-of-disneyland-paris-and-more/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/11/20/photos-take-a-look-inside-the-new-dvc-tower-coming-to-disneyland-hotel/ The new dinign area for Harbor Galley opened last week, sooner than expected. Pelican’s Landing is the name and theme of this new seating area along the Rivers of America between Harbor Galley across from the Haunted Mansion, and the rafts to Tom Sawyer Island. The area has a lot of nautical details and adds a lot of seating in this area of the park. Some informational signs are also on display, giving some information about the Mark Twain, Sailing Ship Columbia, and some of the local plants and nautical equipment. – https://www.micechat.com/308538-dateline-disneyland-redevelopments-major-changes-possible-strike/ The day has finally come! Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is testing standby only, with no boarding group required. This is testing our theory that the attraction is in so much demand because of the queue system. We will see this week what the wait times are with just standby. The removal of the virtual queue is also a first step in heading towards Genie+ and Lightning Lane coming to Disneyland in the future. – https://www.micechat.com/308538-dateline-disneyland-redevelopments-major-changes-possible-strike/ With all of the holiday fun going on inside the parks, Downtown Disney has joined in on the fun as well. The Disney Ultimate Toy Drive, which supports Toys for Tots is available, in addition to lots of treats, drinks, food, and merchandise offerings. Of course there is also entertainment! Holiday Harmony, The Moonrays, and The Sugarplums a capella carolers will perform in the evenings Fridays through Sundays November 26th through December 26th. Main stage bands will also perform near the Downtown Disney District main stage. Of course the Star Wars: Tales fro the Galaxy’s Edge will al

News: Some major changes are coming to Mickey’s ToonTown in 2023 with the opening of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Josh D’Amaro announced at the IAAPA theme park expo in Orlando that the land would close in March of 2022 to make the changes. The only confirmed information is that there will be a reimagining of the entrance to the land, adding a couple of green spaces for parents and children to relax and play together. The current ToonTown park will expand into CenTOONial Park. It appears that the Jolly Trolley and tracks will be removed and replaced with a new fountain. The concept art also seems to show changes to Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Spin, and possibly even another entrance to Galaxy’s Edge. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/11/mickeys-toontown-at-disneyland-park-to-be-reimagined-with-new-experiences-and-more-play-and-interactivity-for-young-families-in-2023/ and https://www.micechat.com/307775-disneylands-toontown-closing-in-2022-for-enhancements/ The holidays at the Disneyland Resort kicked off this past Friday. News: This week, we got some more details about the Genie service coming to the parks soon. Over in Walt Disney World, the service will launch on October 19th. No date is set for Disneyland yet, but Disney says it will be announced soon. The Genie+ service, which is an additional cost, will be available at a number of attractions and works just like MaxPass from before the closure. Individual Lightning Lane selections will be an additional purchase on top of Genie+ and Lightning Lane, and will be priced from $7 to $15 per attraction, per guest. At this time, only Radiator Springs Racers, WEB Slingers, and Rise of the Resistance will be on the Lightning Lane+ service. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/10/08/disneyland-reveals-new-disney-genie-details-heres-how-the-itinerary-planning-app-works/ and https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/10/disney-genie-launching-at-walt-disney-world-resort/ At Disneyland, the following attractions will feature Lightning Lane as part of the Genie+ paid service. To be clear, these are part of the $20 per guest, per day Genie+ service, and not part of the Lightning Lane additional charge. Autopia, Big Thunder, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones, it’s a small world, Matterhorn, Smuggler’s Run, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Star Tours. Over in DCA, Goofy’s Sky School, Grizzly River Run, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout, Incredicoaster, Monsters, Inc., Soarin’, and Midway Mania. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/10/08/disneyland-announces-22-rides-where-you-can-pay-to-skip-the-lines-heres-how/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/genie/ Guests that have been to Disney California Adventure this past week on rainy days may have been able to ride Web Slingers by waiting in a standby queue, instead of getting a boarding pass. Disneyland is switching to a standby queue on days when the attendance are lower for the new attraction. Guests who get a boarding group at the 7am window will have their boarding group honored, but there may not be a need for the noon boarding groups, and switch to standby only. The standby queue usually becomes active around 4-6pm. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/10/12/disneyland-pauses-web-slingers-virtual-queue-on-slow-days-and-switches-to-standby-line/ One of the big questions guests have been asking a lot recently is what is going on with the trams? The Orange County Register thinks that it is still related to the COVID-19 health and safety regulations that have been in place since the parks reopened. There were some posts online this week that said the trams were needing repairs after not being run for nearly a year and a half and maintenance teams are already overloaded. So, the real answer to when the trams come back is anyone’s guess. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/10/11/when-will-disneyland-parking-lot-trams-return/ Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company has finally made it to the west coast from Florida. The coffee stand that sits at the entrance to Pixar Pier and Paradise Wharf was recently converted to a Joffrey’s, along with adding mobile ordering and some food offerings. Breakfast offerings are abailable until 11am, with a burrito available after. A chia fruit salad, sugar cookie, chocolate chip cookie, and chocolate croissants are offered all day. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/10/photos-joffreys-coffee-tea-company-makes-disneyland-resort-debut-at-the-gourmet-coffee-stand-at-disney-california-adventure/ Disney+ has been an excellent source of information and entertainment about the parks since it launched in 2019. A new movie, which will focus on the creation of Disneyland, will be debuting on the service in the future. The movie will be written by Evan Spiliotopoulos, who worked on The Jungle Book 2 and Beauty and the Beast. David Gordon Green is set to direct. He worked on Halloween and Halloween Kills as the writer and director. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/10/movie-focusing-on-disneylands-creation-coming-to-disney/ The Disneyland Resort has been hiring quite a few new cast members recently, although not a lot with more than two legs! The Circle D Ranch has recently received 5 new horses for Disneyland. The new horses are Dublin

Lights are being installed on the exterior of the attraction in preperation for it’s a small world holiday, which will premiere on November 12th. The first guests to be able to experience the attraction will be able to do so at the Disney Merriest Nites event on November 11th. The attraction will go down for the transformation of the interior on October 25th. – https://www.micechat.com/303988-disneyland-update-happy-hauntings-and-magic-keys-clogged/ Guests walking the tram route have likely seen the Muppers Haunted Mansion display near the Downtown Disney tram loading area. The popular holiday overlay celebrated the 20th anniversary on October 3rd. To commemorate this milestone, a glow in the dark shirt and water bottle appeared at Disneyland. Both items have Oogie Boogie in a Santa-inspired outfit, the Haunted Mansion, Lock, Shock, and Barrel, and says “Haunted Mansion Holiday 20th Anniversary, Disneyland Resort.” – https://www.micechat.com/303736-disneylands-haunted-mansion-holiday-celebrates-its-20th-scary-christmas/ The Orange County Register found a permit that Disneyland filed with Orange County to install some scaffholding and seating in Town Square on Main Street. This points to the return of the Candlelight Processional at Disneyland this year! The annual event was cancelled last year at both US resorts due to COVID-19. Disney World has announced their candlelight will run from November 26th through December 30th. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/09/28/candlelight-processional-returning-to-disneyland-this-holiday-season-permits-show/ A new shoppe is coming to the end of Main Street, replacing the former Photo Supply Store. Jessica Rabbit will be taking over a different role in the attraction as the story is updated to better reflect today’s mentality. Jessica will now be a Private Eye keeping an eye on the Weasels who are on a crime spree in Toon Town. Her busty character will be more modest with a trenchcoat covering her up, and her character has already been removed from the trunk of a car in the attraction. News: For those Weeklyteers who haven’t already purchased their Magic Keys to Disneyland, the Disney Parks Blog has posted a frequently asked questions post to help answer common questions that folks have been wondering. Some of the most important takeaways relate to where and when to buy the Keys. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/08/planning-to-purchase-a-disneyland-resort-magic-key-pass-your-top-magic-key-questions-answered/ and https://www.micechat.com/297956-breaking-news-disneyland-delivers-a-new-magic-key-pass-program-replacement/ The day that we post this episode is the big day that the Magic Key program launches at the resort. Magic Key holders will have an exclusive lounge in both parks for a limited time. The Magic Key Terrace in Disney California Adventure will be a permanent location for Keyholders to relax with friends and family, overlooking Route 66 and Avengers Campus. The more limited time location in Disneyland at the old Starcade location will offer charging for cell phones, photo ops, and other perks. The location in Disneyland will be open September 1st through October 31st. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/08/23/disneyland-sets-opening-dates-for-exclusive-annual-passholder-bar-and-lounge/ We have compared the new Magic Key Enchant level pass to the previous Flex Pass from 2019 many times. This week, The Orange County Register wrote an entire article comparing the two passes. The biggest differences are the lack of “good to go” days that the Flex Pass had, where Flex holders didn’t have to make a reservation at all, with the new Enchant level always requiring a reservation. Additionally, the Flex pass had 350 days where guests could use the ticket, compared to the 216 days of the Enchant key. Enchant key holders can make twice as many reservations than the old Flex pass. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/08/24/magic-key-vs-flex-pass-how-the-new-and-old-disneyland-annual-passes-compare/ Fans wanting to know more about what the retheme of Splash Mountain will entail should check out the video released this week on the Disney Parks Blog. As part of Disney’s World Princess Week, they got together some of the creative minds behind the upcoming changes and made a 30 minute short talking all about it. Still no word on when Splash Mountain will be transformed, but this video is a must for those wondering what is next for the attraction. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/08/gather-around-the-table-for-a-conversation-and-peek-at-the-latest-developments-of-the-upcoming-attraction-inspired-by-the-princess-and-the-frog/ and https://www.micechat.com/262305-breaking-news-splash-mountain-to-become-princess-and-the-frog-themed/ Since Disneyland reopened at the end of April, Guest Relations had been stationed outside of City Hall in the Tour Gardens. This week, they were able to relocate back into City Hall. Also, one of Tage’s favorite things has returned on Main Street – the Market Street fruit cart! This cart is located outside the main doors to the Market House and in front of the Main Street lockers. The location sells a variety of fruit and some beverages. – https://www.micechat.com/299488-disneyland-update-the-winds-of-change-are-blowing/ A lot of guests love the Disney PhotoPass service, but sometimes there isn’t a PhotoPass Photographer around when you want that perfect photo! Andres, a Disneyland Resort photo specialist from planDisney shared some of his tips on getting the perfect photos when at the resort. His key points are to get creative, find new locations, be patient, and use what you have. To get all the tips and details on how to make the most of your photos, check out the link in our show notes at dlweekly.net. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/202

News: The crowds at the Disneyland Resort have been quite mild recently. This can be attributed to Southern California schools being back in session, and the imminent availability of the Magic Key program. Locals are now waiting for the Magic Key to go on sale to get access to the parks, instead of purchasing a higher priced 1-5 day ticket. For guests visiting, the attraction wait times have been in the 10 to 20 minute range for much of the week. If you are able, right now is a great time to go to the parks. Time will tell how the crowds will look after the Magic Key program launches next week. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ For guests that have been waiting to get tickets to the Oogie Boogie Bash Halloween parties this year, there is still time! Currently, September 9, 12, 16, and 19th are available, with no dates in October. The event was a ghoulishly fun time in 2019, and we are excited to go this year! The candy trails, decorations, entertainment, and atmosphere are totally worth the ticket price to this event. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ To go along with our news from last week that the bread bowls were being made in the parks again, the Bakery Tour has reopened. The location does have limited hours for the time being, from 8am to 3pm. Also of note in the area are the closing times of the dining locations in this area of the park. DCA closes at 10pm nightly currently, with Rita’s Baja Blenders closing at 7pm, Lucky Fortune Cookery closing at 8pm, and Cocina Cucamonga closing at 9pm. So, be sure to check times when thinking of food in the evenings. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ As time rolls on, more entertainment is returning to the parks slowly. This past week, the Bootstrappers are back performing their shanties in New Orleans Square. We hope that more entertainment returns soon like the Dapper Dans on Main Street. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ For listeners who will be in the resort area this weekend, there will be a cupcake decorating activity at Downtown Disney as a promotion for the new Disney Channel show “Disney’s Magic Bake-Off.” The decoration will take place Friday, August 20th, through Sunday, August 22nd at 5, 6, and 7pm. The event is free, with limited space. Participants must register in Downtown Disney starting at 4pm each day. Participants will decorate a cupcake with Disneyland Resort Pastry Chef Gracie Gomez. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/13003/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_August_16__22_2021#news3 Some new Coco merchandise will be coming to Disneyland, Disney World, and shopDisney this September. CEO Bob Chapek is enthusiastic about the upcoming Disney Genie app stating “guests will spend less time in line and more time having fun,” but also commented that it will offer the company “substantial commercial opportunities.” The U.S. parks saw the first profitable quarter since the pandemic began in 2020. The international parks are still posting a loss at this time. Disney+ has grown to 116 million subscribers, and November 12th will be Disney+ day, where new shows and movies will be announced for the platform. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/08/wdwnt-daily-recap-8-12-21-disney-releases-q3-earnings-report-walt-disney-world-50th-anniversary-merchandise-arrives-and-more/ The Spa part of the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa is reopening soon! The Believe Key is the next level with more blockout dates, 6 reservations at a time, 10% off select merchandise and dining, and 50% off parking for $949. The Enchant Key has more blockouts and is similar to the Flex Pass on the old system. It includes 4 reservations, and 10% off select merchandise and dining for $649. Finally, the Imagine Key is the new SoCal Select Pass with the most blockouts, only available to SoCal residents, 2 reservations, and 10% off select merchandise and dining for $399.
