News: More mobile ordering changes are coming to the Disneyland App. This time, at select locations, when placing your order and you get to the “I’m Here, Prepare My Order” window, there is now an estimated wait time for your food after pressing the button. It has been open for just a few months and parts of it have been behind construction walls for much of that time. News: In a bombshell announcement before Investor Day for the Walt Disney Company, Disney announced that they plan to spend nearly $60 billion dollars over the next 10 years to expand the parks and cruise lines around the world. They stated in the filing that they have over 1,000 acres of land that they can use for possible development, the equivalent of seven new Disneyland Parks. – https://www.micechat.com/368284-news-disney-parks-to-double-in-next-10-years-with-60-billion-expansion/ Some new information has come out regarding DisneylandForward. The City of Anaheim released the environmental impact report for the proposed changes. The 10K medal has Donald and Daisy running with the Carthay Circle Theater and Sleeping Beauty Castle in the background. The half marathon medal has a gold Disneyland D with Mickey and Minnie running out of Sleeping Beauty Castle. No, this isn't a replacement for Fantasmic! just yet, but it is a little more showy than the musical acts that were a temporary replacement for summer. The Heartbeat of New Orleans — A Living Mural is the new show and it will feature a dynamic jazz score and projections. The story will follow a "mischievous little frog from the bayou that leaps into the lively heartbeat of New Orleans when he is lured by the jazzy sounds he hears in the distance." Other treat trail characters have relocated this year including Ernesto De La Cruz who is in the queue for the Hyperion, and Madam Mim is where Ernesto was last year in the Bountiful Valley Hideaway. There is a fish biscuit treat for the one eyed cat statue, and a new Candle-Man figure in the attic scene that is a nod to Disney Legend and Imagineer Rolly Crump from the Museum of the Weird concept. The Disney Parks Blog announced that a new, permanent retail shop will be constructed at the exit of the attraction, replacing the smaller, more temporary location, and the extended queue would be expanded. The extended queue will take over the old FastPass distribution area, and some of the plaza between Tiana’s Palace and the Haunted Mansion. On Saturday, Disneyland made an announcement that they were closely monitoring the storm and would make adjustments based on the latest information from the National Weather Service. At that time, the decision was made to close the parks early, with DCA closing at 9pm, Disneyland at 10pm, and Downtown Disney at 11pm. To prepare for the storm, Disneyland did things like clean storm drains, roll up construction scrims, and remove unsecured umbrellas. This wonderful event is a 5k walk through the Disneyland Resort to raise money for the Childrens Holpital of Orange County. When it returns, they have promised new magic but they have not promised the return of the Maleficent dragon. Last week Magic Key Holders were able to try to purchase a limited amount of Oogie Boogie Bash tickets on Tuesday June 27th with all other tickets going on sale to the general public on Thursday June 29th. The presale on Tuesday relativity went well, how ever the general sales on Thursday did not. The queue was paused shortly after it opened, leaving many Disney fans stuck waiting. DisneylandForward is the plan to promote future ideas for the Disneyland Resort to the public and the government of Anaheim to start planning for the future. Guests can now modify their reservations without the need to cancel the existing reservation first. This includes starting park and the date of the visit. At the 10:30pm showing of Fantasmic! on Saturday, there was a malfunction with the system that the dragon in the finale, lovingly referred to as Murphy, which caused the dragon to catch fire, and was close to, if not a complete loss of the animatronic. No cast members or guests were injured, but some were treated for smoke inhalation. No official word from Disney on when the show will return or what they plan to do with the damaged dragon. The biggest issue is just all the guests who want to be in the new land and experience all of the changes. It is still a rather small area, so even a modest amount of guests can make the area feel overcrowded. Stroller parking is also an issue, with cast members constantly trying to rearrange them to provide more space. The refreshed land greeted guests as a soft opening on Saturday after a media event, and then officially opened on Sunday. The newly reopened section has some of the same features that guests really liked in the already opened section for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. Well, last week they finally announced TWO Disneyland After Dark Nies coming to Disneyland. Disneyland After Dark: Throwback Nite will celebrate the 50's and 60's, with music and entertainment that will pay tribute to Disneyland's first 10 years. "Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks will be performed, classic dancing, treats from the early days of Disneyland, and more! For Star Wars Nite, "Star Wars: Celebrate the Nite" fireworks will perform, the March of the First Order returns, a Lightsaber instructional demonstration and more will be happening. With the attraction opening, guests will be utilizing a virtual queue, with no standby access. A new Toontown sign has been installed at the entrance to the land ahead of it opening later this month. Starting February 4th, guests with the ability to park hop will be able to switch parks at 11am, instead of the current 1pm time. More dates have been added to the calendar at the $104 ticket level, bringing it up to nearly two months of days at the lowest ticket price. Throughout the Disney100 celebration, digital attraction photos will be complimentary starting February 4th. This is limited to digital attraction photos only. Also announced were more opportunities to join the Magic Key program throughout 2023 as pass inventory becomes available. After months of speculation, the treehouse will be home to a new family and pay tribute to the original 1962 attraction, the Swiss Family Robinson. Tony Cabrera of ABC7 News was able to visit “it’s a small world” overnight to see the changes taking place to prepare it for “it’s a small world holiday.” On his TikTok, he can be seen walking through the flume in the attraction, which has been drained, and alking about the decorations. One interesting piece of information is that the holiday decorations are hidden behind black curtains of the attraction. “it’s a small world holiday” opens on November 10th this year. First, a second edition Gargoyle mug was released just before Halloween. This is the fourth version of this mug to be released, the others being two from Club 33, and another Trader Sam’s version. This version is glazed in teal. In addition to the tiki mug, the bar closed for two separate mixology classes at 4:4:30 pm and 7 pm. The classes were not officially announced by Disney, but word spread quickly and they sold out. The classes were $202 after tax and gratuity and taught guests how to make the new “Gothic Jungle” coctail and the “Disquieting Metamorphosis” drinks. News: Starting the day this podcast goes live, MagicBand+ will start rolling out with a soft-opening for Magic Key Holders, DVC Members, and some cast members. New seat cushions and refreshed effects are noticeable throughout. A Genie+ subscription is required to use the lenses. To begin with a bang, Disneyland announced the opening date of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Starting January 27th, guests will be able to take a trip through the El Capitoon theater with Mickey and Minnie. Now, the rest of Mickey’s Toontown is not going to open just yet, just the attraction. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/10/disney100-celebration-at-disneyland-resort-begins-jan-27-2023/ Not only will Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway open for the celebration, but the icon of Disneyland – Sleeping Beauty Castle will see a makeover. The castle will celebrate wonder with platinum banners and bunting, and accented with the three Good Fairies. One of the most exciting upgrades will be two majestic water fountains on either side of the moat. Usually, these changes happen in the beginning of the year, but not this time. On average, the ticket prices increased $5 this time. THere is an additional tier of ticket, which moves the previous ticket levels down, now starting at Tier 0, which is the old Tier 1. Pricing has remained $104 for the now tier 0 ticket, and increased to $179 for the Tier 6 level, up $15 from last time. Adding park hopping now costs $5 more at $65 per ticket. Multi-day tickets went up between $30 and $35 per ticket. Preferred Parking and Hotel Valet parking has gone up $5 and $15 respecively. Genie+ is now $25 per day and they have implemented demand-based pricing with no high end price announced. Walt’s Main Street tour includes a walking tour down Main Street, a visit to Walt’s apartment, refreshments on the patio of the apartment, PhotoPass downloads, and a commemorative lanyard. The tour lasts 90 minutes for $160 per person. The Holiday Time tour is two and a half hours long and looks at the holiday traditions, with a special viewing area for A Christmas Fantasy Parade, holiday treats, a ride on “it’s a small world” holiday and more.
