News: Later this month Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open in Walt Disney World. Here at Disneyland, we are still a few months away, with no official date as of the recording of this episode. Currently, Critter Country is partially closed, with Hungry Bear and the path to Galaxy’s Edge still open to guests. The new security checkpoint is located next to Din Tai Fung on the Pixar Place side of the shopping district. The new entrance has a new set of restrooms just inside security on the backside of Din Tai Fung. The two new entry systems that had been installed have been removed. No word on if they will come back in the future, if another system will be tested, or if they gave up on a new system for now. – DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Too Late to Undo, New Gates Debut, Summertime SNAFU (micechat.com) A new pre-show has come to World of Color this week. The new segment, titled “Emotional Rollercoaster,” plays just before World of Color is to promote the upcoming “Inside Out 2” movie, which premieres on June 14th. The show had mixed to negative reviews online, with adults and teens feeling it was too childlike, while it was too late for children to take part in. Sherman, half of the legendary Sherman Brothers, responsible for music from Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, it’s a small world, and more, passed away on May 24th. On the west end of the shopping district, the future security area is nearing completion, along with Din Tai Fung. Critter Country, which closed a few weeks ago, has had it’s walkways torn up, and there is a lot of work being done. An R-1 droid named Bard has now arrived to accompany the display with a narrative. The Club Level Concierge Lounge – named the Creators Club – has opened at the hotel. News: Last week as we were recording the show, the Anaheim city council gave their final approval for the Disneyland Forward Project! Ken Potrock announced that in the first 10 years, Disney will be investing at least $1.9 billion in the resort. News: The future of the Disneyland Resort has taken another step forward last week. DisneylandForward had a workshop with the Anaheim City Council where some more details were laid out. Disney proposes to invest $1.9 billion on attractions, entertainment, lodging, and retail within 10 years of approval, along with up to $90 million to update city streets and improve streets near the parks. $30 million will be used over five years for affordable housing, $8 million for Anaheim park improvements in the first year, and funding of worker education, development, and recruiting programs. The next steps are a planning commission workshop in February, with a hearing in March, and a City Council hearing in May. – DisneylandForward ➡ Charting The Course For Future Adventures! If Dusty is right, there is a lot more going on with this attraction. Per his conversation, it is a sort of fake out for guests concealing the fact that they are doing a lot more with this attraction than has been announced. Massive set pieces are being installed to make this much more grand than the attraction that it is replacing. The Disney Parks Blog announced that a new, permanent retail shop will be constructed at the exit of the attraction, replacing the smaller, more temporary location, and the extended queue would be expanded. The extended queue will take over the old FastPass distribution area, and some of the plaza between Tiana’s Palace and the Haunted Mansion. On Saturday, Disneyland made an announcement that they were closely monitoring the storm and would make adjustments based on the latest information from the National Weather Service. At that time, the decision was made to close the parks early, with DCA closing at 9pm, Disneyland at 10pm, and Downtown Disney at 11pm. To prepare for the storm, Disneyland did things like clean storm drains, roll up construction scrims, and remove unsecured umbrellas. When it returns, they have promised new magic but they have not promised the return of the Maleficent dragon. Last week Magic Key Holders were able to try to purchase a limited amount of Oogie Boogie Bash tickets on Tuesday June 27th with all other tickets going on sale to the general public on Thursday June 29th. The presale on Tuesday relativity went well, how ever the general sales on Thursday did not. The queue was paused shortly after it opened, leaving many Disney fans stuck waiting.
