She has published articles on dental identification, age estimation and PDT (Photodynamic treatment) of oral lesions. Since 1995 she has been registered as a Forensic Medicine Expert in Odontology by the Ministry of Justice and Police, and The Commission for Forensic Medicine, Norway. Since 2001 been a member of the Norwegian Identification Commission (DVI) and at present she is the responsible forensic odontologist for the national team. Dr. Effie Greathouse earned a bachelor's degree in wildlife, fish and conservation biology from the University of California, Davis, and a PhD in ecology from the University of Georgia, where she did research on freshwater shrimp and dams in tropical island streams. She did postdoctoral training at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, focusing on water quality and stream chemistry of the Oregon Coast Range, and then worked in stream chemistry database management with the U.S. Forest Service.
