Virginia Gonzales Starves Daughter, Reverses Plead Deal Refusal, Learns Fate

Austin police respond to a home in Del Valle after receiving a 911 call about a 7-year-old girl who discovered starved and locked inside a bedroom closet. Six other children are also found in the home, but police say it appears they are physically healthy. According to reports, the child was soiled and barricaded in a closet with heavy boxes blocking the door. An arrest affidavit reveals Virginia Marie Gonzales is accused of locking the 7-year-old girl in a closet for “weeks at a time.” The affidavit further states the girl’s grandmother told police that the child had trouble controlling her bladder and often ate things she shouldn’t. This allegedly led to her siblings being instructed to keep her locked in the closet. The 7-year-old was hospitalized and is now recovering. During the investigation, detectives learn about another child, Ava, who has been missing for years. Virginia Marie Gonzales, Ava‘s mother, was arrested on a charge of serious injury to a child in connection with the 7-year-old’s case. According to police, the missing now 9-year-old child was last seen when she was just 2 years old and in the custody of her mother, Virginia Marie Gonzales. Now, Gonzales has reversed her initial rejection of a plea offer.   The State first offered Gonzales a 40-year prison sentence in exchange for her guilty plea.   Gonzales now pleads guilty getting 25 years in jail.    Joining Nancy Grace today: LeAnne Marie - Friend of Mom, Virginia Gonzales Bronwyn Blake - Adjunct Professor, University of Texas School of Law; Chief Legal Officer, Texas Advocacy Project; Founder: Teen Justice Initiative (advocating for teen victims of dating violence); Facebook and Instagram: @TexasAdvocacyProject Dr. Angela Arnold - Psychiatrist in Atlanta: Expert in the Treatment of Pregnant/Postpartum Women, Former Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology: Emory University, Former Medical Director of The Psychiatric Ob-Gyn Clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital Daryl Parker - Private Investigator at Blackfish; Former Lieutenant in the Fannin County Sheriff's Office, Private Investigator at Blackfish Intelligence Former Marine, Former Texas Police Officer  worked with the Innocence Project of Texas for the last ten years); Instagram: @blackfishintel, FB – blackfishintelligence Virginia Bagby - Director of the ChildHelp National Child Abuse Hotline; Facebook and Instagram: @ChildHelp Dr. Kendall Crowns - Chief Medical Examiner Tarrant County (Ft Worth), Host of Podcast, "Mayhem in the Morgue," and Lecturer: Burnett School of Medicine at TCU (Texas Christian University) Christina Aguayo - National News Anchor, Salem News Channel; Facebook: @ChristinaAguayoNews, Instagram: @Christina.AguayoNew See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

AMAZING MURAL OF UKRAINIAN MURDER VICTIM IRYNA ZARUTSKA GOES UP IN BROOKLYN AND INFURIATES PRO-CRIME JUNKIES

A mural of murdered Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska has been vandalized and graffitied with spray paint. "PLEASE VANDALIZE THIS,” the tagger scrawled. The tribute had been complete for less than two weeks before the damage. Iryna Zarutska, a Ukrainian refugee, came to the United States with her family to escape her war-torn country for a better life. Iryna took English classes, had a job and was making a productive life for herself, but all her aspirations were cut short by an unprovoked violent attack from a man with a criminal history. Video shows Iryna getting on the train in Charlotte, North Carolina, taking a seat, and looking at her phone quietly. Video shows a passenger sitting directly behind Iryna, who we later came to know as Carlos Brown Jr. A close-up of Brown's hands can be seen opening and unfolding the knife in order to prepare to stand up to stab Iryna. Although Iryna's hat covers a lot of her face, the shock in her eyes, along with the terror she silently expressed during her final moments of life, bleeding out, surrounded by panic, is heartbreaking to watch. The video also shows Brown, in an orange hoodie, walking the aisles of the train with blood dripping on the floor. One passenger notices blood drops and avoids stepping in them, while another witness on the phone with 911 tells them a man just stabbed a woman for no reason, and she needs help. Moments after allegedly stabbing Iryna, Brown is captured on video nonchalantly walking the platform of the train station. On the train, Brown was wearing a hoodie; now he is wearing a black t-shirt, with the now bloody hoodie wrapped around his hands. In reaction to the shocking and violent death of Iryna Zarutska, North Carolina Governor Josh Stein just signed "Iryna's Law" into effect, increasing checks on criminals getting out on bail and prohibiting cashless bail for some violent crimes and most repeat offenders. A grand jury indicted Brown for the murder of Iryna, formally charging him with first-degree murder. Brown is being held without bond in the county jail, but an order was filed for him to be committed to Central Regional Hospital. Allegedly, he has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and also has a lengthy rap sheet of criminal behavior. PROLIFIC INFANT KILLER NICU NURSE WHINES BEHIND BARS, BEING MOCKED BY INMATES OVER HER NEW NETFLIX DOCUMENTARY

Lucy Letby prided herself on caring for infants.  The neonatal nurse cared for the most vulnerable of patients: newborns. Then, the hospital noticed that more infants died in the span of a month than would typically die in a year. An investigation reveals that Letby had been the sole nurse working at the time of seven babies.  The child deaths span over the course of a year with, again, seven babies dying, while six others survived. Letby made babies sick by injecting intravenous lines with air, some were poisoned, and others were force-fed milk.      Letby preyed on twins and triplets. After Gut Punch, Gabby Petito's Family Case Makes Its Way to Utah Supreme Court

Gabby Petito was strangled by her then boyfriend Brian Laundrie while the pair were on a cross-country van trip. The FBI report states that Laundrie confesses to the murder in a hand written notebook, found near the remains of Laundrie's body after he committed suicide.  According to the report, Laundrie tried to cover up Petito's death by using the woman's debit card, and then also sending text messages from her phone, to give the impression that Gabby was still alive. During the trip, a domestic violence episode was caught on Moab police body cam, after a 911 call came in reporting a man slapping a woman.  The footage shows Petito was injured with scratches and  bruises. Police determined however that Petito was the aggressor, after she admitted hitting Laundrie.   The pair was separated for the night, with no domestic violence counseling.  Petito's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Moab Police Department. Utah's 7th District Court Judge Don Torgerson dismissed the case, citing governmental immunity. Torgerson said he is bound to follow the law as it currently exists and follow rulings of other courts. The Petito's attorney argued to end just the police immunity.  He added the Court of Appeals has the authority to determine whether the governmental immunity law is constitutional. Now the case heads to the Utah Supreme Court.  Joining Nancy Grace Today: Kathleen Murphy  - Raleigh, North Carolina, Attorney at TriangleDivorceLawyers.com  Caryn Stark - Psychologist, renowned TV and Radio trauma expert and consultant, www.carynstark.com, Instagram: carynpsych, FB: Caryn Stark Private Practice   Lisa Dadio - Former Police Lieutenant, New Haven Police Department, Annie Le Lead Detective, Senior Lecturer, Director of the Center for Advanced Policing and Graduate Program Coordinator, Investigations program, University of New Haven   Kristy Mazurek - Emmy Award-winning Investigative Reporter Mike Hadsell - President and Founder, Peace River K9 Search and Rescue, Twitter: @K9River, PRSAR.org Dale Carson - Criminal Defense Attorney (Jacksonville), Former FBI Agent, Former Police Officer, Author: "Arrest-Proof Yourself, DaleCarsonLaw.com Sheryl McCollum - Forensic Expert & Cold Case Investigative Research Institute Founder, ColdCaseCrimes.org, Twitter: @ColdCaseTips Joe Scott Morgan - Professor of Forensics: Jacksonville State University, Author, "Blood Beneath My Feet", Host: "Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan" Mahsa Saeidi - Investigative Reporter, WFLA-TV (Tampa), Twitter/Instagram: @MahsaWho, Facebook: "WFLAMahsa" Dale Carson - High Profile Attorney (Jacksonville), Former FBI Agent, Former Police Officer, Author: "Arrest-Proof Yourself, DaleCarsonLaw.com Dr. Bethany Marshall - Psychoanalyst, www.drbethanymarshall.com, New Netflix show: 'Bling Empire' (Beverly Hills) Joe Scott Morgan - Professor of Forensics: Jacksonville State University, Author, "Blood Beneath My Feet", Host: "Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan" Michael Ruiz - Reporter, Fox News Digital, Twitter: @MikeRreports Wendy Patrick - California prosecutor, author “Red Flags” www.wendypatrickphd.com 'Today with Dr. Wendy' on KCBQ in San Diego, Twitter: @WendyPatrickPHD Dr. Angela Arnold - Psychiatrist, Atlanta GA www.angelaarnoldmd.com, Expert in the Treatment of Pregnant/Postpartum Women, Former Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology: Emory University, Former Medical Director of The Psychiatric Ob-Gyn Clinic at Grady Memorial Hospita Sheryl McCollum - Forensic Expert & Cold Case Investigative Research Institute Founder, ColdCaseCrimes.org, Twitter: @ColdCaseTips Joe Scott Morgan - Professor of Forensics: Jacksonville State University, Author, "Blood Beneath My Feet", Host: "Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan"  Mahsa Saeidi - Investigative Reporter, WFLA-TV (Tampa), Twitter/Instagram: @MahsaWho, Facebook: "WFLAMahsa" See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

SPOILED BRAT, HEALTHCARE ASSASSIN LUIGI MANGIONE COURTROOM OUTBURST

The judge in Luigi Mangione's state trial set a June 8 trial date for New York's case against him for the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, leading Mangione to have an outburst Friday as court concluded. The judge started the proceedings by saying it appears the federal government had reneged on their agreement to let the state trial go first by setting a date of Sept. 8 to begin jury selection in the federal trial, with opening statements on Oct. 13.  However, that trial date may be delayed if the federal government appeals the decision to throw out the charges against Mangione that were eligible for the death penalty. The judge said in the event the federal trial is indeed delayed, then the state trial would proceed on Sept. 8 instead.  The judge told Mangione's defense attorneys to be ready to proceed on June 8.   Earlier this year, state prosecutors requested a July 1 trial date for Mangione on the state charges. Mangione's attorneys said this request is unreasonable as they need the rest of the year to prepare for the federal trial. There were approximately two dozen Mangione supporters in the courtroom Friday. One wore a shirt with the message "Luigi Mangione: Not in the Epstein files" on it.   "Double jeopardy," Mangione says in court Mangione's defense said their client is being put in an untenable situation as the tug-of-war between state and federal prosecutions plays out.  The video player is currently playing an ad. As court concluded, Mangione, who was wearing tan prison clothing and was handcuffed, had an outburst, shouting, "It's the same trial twice. One plus one is two. Double jeopardy by any common sense definition."                   Luigi Mangione's legal team created a website for the accused killer, they say “due to the extraordinary volume of inquiries and outpouring of support. His attorneys say the website — luigimangioneinfo.com — was created to ”share case updates, “dispel information” and publish letters from Mangione while he’s incarcerated. He writes “I am overwhelmed by — and grateful for — everyone who has written me to share their stories and express their support.”  That support include thousands donations for his legal fees. Luigi Mangione's defense team describes his "beautiful, promising life" as "derailed" by the murder charges against him. This phrasing is not highlighted as a saying from Mangione's groupies, but as a phrase coming from Mangione's attorney as part of a legal motion filed to dismiss the federal case or get the death penalty tossed. As part of an evidence suppression hearing in the upcoming trial of Luigi Mangione, prosecutors play a 911 call placed by the manager of a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The McDonald's manager is not identified, and the hearing is the first time the 911 call is played in public. The manager is apologetic as she tells the 911 operator she tried the non-emergency line first and continues taking orders as she tells the operator, "I have a customer here some other customers were suspicious of because he looks like the CEO shooter in New York. "And they're just really upset and come to me, and I'm like, I can't approach him." The 911 operator, Emily States, testifies and is heard asking for a description of the individual, with the manager replying,"The only thing you can see is the eyebrows." Mangione's defense attorney, Marc Agnifilo, objects to the 911 call being played, but the judge says he is allowing the call for this hearing. Mangione enters the courtroom in shackles, but the judge allows Mangione to sit unshackled and take notes at the defense table. Long lines outside the courthouse filled with women and men supporters trying to enter the hearing, hoping to get a glimpse of the alleged CEO murderer. Mangione's defense team is trying to prevent several key pieces of evidence from being allowed at trial, like the comment about the 3-D printed pistol. Angifilo claims conversations with correction officers were illegally coerced and should not be allowed. The defense claims Mangione is questioned for 20 minutes by Altoona Police Officer Joseph Detwiler without being read his Miranda rights. Therefore, prosecutors should not be allowed to introduce any testimony about statements made by Mangione to police. United States District Judge Margaret Garnett says she will rule on the defense’s request to drop death penalty charges and the exclusions at a later hearing. If the murder charge remains, Garnett a trial could start in late December or early January 2027. If charges dropped, Mangione's trial might begin this October. Mangione has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Mangione’s next hearing date for Jan. 30.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE MOM MISSING: DAY 13

On day 13, in the search for Nancy Guthrie, we have seen an increased reward and a turf war exposed between Pima County investigators and the FBI. Sheriff Chris Nanos says he has not been blocking FBI access to evidence, even though we learn that the sheriff's office sent evidence, including gloves found inside Guthrie's home, to a Florida lab, not the FBI lab. Nanos says it's not even known if the gloves were connected to Guthrie's disappearance.
