More women have come forward accusing a Denver cardiologist of rape. Stephen Matthews, 35, was first charged with drugging and raping a woman he met on the dating app "Hinge." Matthews was later charged again as the nine additional victims revealed similar stories. Matthews now faces 51 felony counts related to the alleged drugging and sexual assault of thirteen women. Three of the cases allege that Matthews drugged and subsequently raped the “helpless” victim. The remaining cases allege that Matthews drugged the victims. Matthews’s attorney, Douglas Cohen, said his client is innocent, entering a not guilty plea in court. Matthews' trial is set for next Spring. It's been eight years since Crystal Roger went missing. Her then-boyfriend, Brooks Houck, immediately became the main suspect. The mom of five was last seen at Houck's home. Rogers' car was found abandoned with a flat tire on the Bluegrass Parkway two days later. Her keys, phone, and purse were inside the vehicle. Houck was interviewed, but not arrested. Now, Houck has been charged with murder and tampering with evidence. Houck's bond has been set at $10 million cash. Houck's attorneys appealed the bond ruling, but they ruled against Houck. This is the third arrest related to Crystal Rogers' disappearance. 32-year-old Joseph L. Lawson was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence in the case. Lawson has pleaded not guilty. His connection to this case is not yet known, but Lawson's father worked for Houck. Lawson's father has also been charged. Rogers’ body has not been found. Vickie Stout and Carla Sue Atkins were half-sisters. The teens, who were extremely close with each other, share the same mother. were very close. The girls walked to a combination bait shop, restaurant, and convenience store called "The Furnace" to pick up some snacks. Witnesses report seeing the girls talking to someone in a blue pickup truck. That’s the last time anyone has seen the sisters. In the days that followed, local law enforcement labeled the sisters as runaways. A hiker then called the police after smelling a foul odor. Deputies discovered the girls’ bodies about 75 feet apart, along with shotgun shells and a light blue stain found on a tree. The autopsy revealed a shotgun killed the girls, but their bodies were too decomposed to reveal if they’d been sexually assaulted. Rand Hooper and Graham McCormick are both from the Richmond area. McCormick moved to Atlanta for a job but took time to return to Irvington to visit his friend, staying with him at his home. The next day, Sallie Graham gets a text from Hooper asking if she’s heard from her son, if not, then he is missing. Graham says her son was known for his responsibility, as signified by his fraternity nickname... Grahampa, a reference to maturity. Graham asks about a search to find McCormick, searching the water, checking with neighbors in town, and more. The answer: He's not there. McCormick’s mother, father and brother drive from their home as they learn McCormick was missing. Graham checks by the dock, where her son was last known to be, using an oar to poke and prod at the water. From there, Graham knocks on neighbors’ doors, then returns to the Hoopers. Soon, a neighbor tells Sallie Graham, a body had been found. Graham McCormick’s body is found floating in Carter Creek off the Rappahannock River around 11:30 that morning, around two miles north of the Hooper’s home. The State Medical Examiner ruled that McCormick died from drowning, blunt-force trauma a contributing factor in the death. Three days after the initial visit to the home, Lancaster sheriff’s detectives spot damage to the Hooper family boat. The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries reconstructed a crash and determined the boat had been involved in an accident near where McCormick’s body was found. The investigation reveals that McCormick and Hooper spent the evening drinking, then took Hooper’s 1999 Boston Whaler boat out. The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries concluded that the vessel struck a bulkhead jutting out of the water near where McCormick was found. Investigators believe McCormick was ejected from the boat. Police say it appeared that it had been slammed against the rocks, over and over again. McCormick had lacerations on the left side of his head and the back of his body, and blunt-force trauma. The medical examiner concluded that the injuries alone would not have killed the 31-year-old McCormick. Those injuries should have been survivable, she said. However, McCormick’s blood alcohol level was 186. It would be three years before Rand Hooper would face additional charges in Graham McCormick’s death. Initially, Hooper was charged with a misdemeanor count of failing to make a timely report of the boat accident. Those charges were upgraded to involuntary manslaughter with a proposed deal of just one year in prison, but a special prosecutor determined that more charges were appropriate as Hooper was accused of operating his boat while intoxicated, leading to a crash that killed McCormick. Hooper was arrested and charged with felony murder, involuntary manslaughter while under the influence operating a watercraft, and failure to stop and assist with serious injury or death. It's been 15 months since the family of 21-year-old Allison Rice laid the college student to rest, and police are no closer to arresting her killer. Rice was found shot dead in her car, just three miles from campus. The LSU student was stopped at a railroad crossing for a train when witnesses say the killer or killers walked up to Rice's car and started shooting. Police say she may have been in the middle of turning around when the shots were fired. Police also say there’s no sign anything was stolen from Rice's car. There is a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Austin Lee Edwards poses as a 17-year-old boy to talk online with a 15-year-old girl. He then drives across the country to her Riverside home when she stops responding. Edwards parks in a neighbor's driveway and goes inside the Winek home. Edwards kills the girl's mother and grandparents, sets the home on fire, and leaves with the girl. A neighbor calls police after noticing Edwards leading the girl, who "appeared distressed," into his car. Another neighbor also calls 911 after seeing flames coming from the home. When police arrive, Edwards and the girl are gone. Brooke, Sherie, and Mark Winek's bodies are found inside the home; Brooke Winek's other daughter is not home. Police get Edward's license plate from cameras in Winek's neighborhood and track him into the Mojave Desert. A helicopter spots the car and cops pursue Edwards, who fires at the officers. Edwards turns the gun on himself and crashes the car. Now relatives of the Riverside family have filed a lawsuit against the Virginia sheriff’s office that hired Austin Edwards. On August 31, a Quality of Life staff member finds a 73-year-old male patient convulsing in his bed. With no history of seizures and according to his medical chart, he was given medication ten minutes before the seizures began. The Post Gazette reports the man is rushed to Butler Hospital, where doctors discover hypoglycemia behind the seizures, but the patient is not diabetic. Treating doctors believe the only way this patient's blood sugar could have plummeted to that extent is if someone had given him a massive dose of insulin. The attending physician gets the man stabilized and he recovers. About six weeks after the 73-year-old man ends up in the hospital after having seizures, another resident, a 55-year-old, is admitted to the hospital to be treated for a urinary tract infection. While in the hospital, nurses discover he too, is hypoglycemic. His blood sugar is stabilized. Nearly 4 weeks after leaving the hospital, the 55-year-old male patient is back at Butler Memorial Hospital, his blood sugar so abnormally low that medical staff are suspicious. WTAE Reports Investigators say the man's pre-existing medical conditions would prevent him from administering the insulin himself, it would have to be done by someone else. Three hours later his 83-year-old suitemate at Quality of Life Services is admitted with the same symptoms, hypoglycemia. Both men ultimately die. While the initial investigation was sparked by suspicions of improper administration of insulin as the cause of the untimely deaths of two patients, coworkers sent the inquiry in a co-worker's direction, Heather Pressdee. Heather Pressdee, 40, is now facing charges of homicide, attempted murder, aggravated assault, neglect of a care-dependent person, and reckless endangerment in connection with the deaths of a 55--year-old man and an 83-year-old man, as well as the injury of a 73-year-old man. A shocked courtroom heard Derek Rosa tell police he stabbed his mother to death in her sleep as his baby sister slept next to her in the bed. After hearing the teen's taped confession, Miami Dade Circuit Judge Richard Hersch rejected a defense motion to move Rosa out of the adult jail and into a juvenile facility. The defense says it is unconstitutional to keep Rosa in an adult cell, claiming he is being kept in unsustainable conditions and is only allowed outside the cell for 20 hours a week. After rejecting the motion, the judge orders Rosa to be held in the Miami-Dade Metro West Detention Center until his unscheduled trial begins. Reportedly, the night Derek Rosa stabs his mother to death, he makes six Google searches including, “What is the best place to stab someone?” " "Is a small knife good for killing?” “ "Is it easier to kill someone with a small knife?” “Can a knife cut through bone?” He also searched for an image of The Carotid Artery diagram. The DailyMail reports the last search made that night was to inquire about a machine gun. Matthew Perry wrote about his issues with addiction to alcohol and drugs. In his memoir, he said he began drinking at 14 and was an alcoholic by 18. Perry first went to rehab and completed a 28-day program at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation after a jet-ski accident led to an addiction to Vicodin. In his 2022 memoir, "Friends, Lovers, and the Big, Terrible Thing," Perry claimed to have been to rehab 15 times, detoxed 65 times, and spent about $7 to $9 million trying to get sober. After years of addiction, Matthew Perry spent 5-months in the hospital after his colon burst from prolonged opioid abuse. Perry says he was in surgery for seven hours and in a coma for two weeks. Doctors told his family he had a 2% chance of survival. After leaving the hospital, Perry used a colostomy bag for months. Two years after his near-death experience, Matthew Perry goes to a Rehab facility in Switzerland. He wrote that he faked pain symptoms to get Oxycontin during COVID. He was also getting daily Ketamine infusions. While at the facility, Perry needed to have surgery and was given propofol. When he woke up 11 hours later, he found out his heart had stopped for 5 minutes and during the long CPR process 8 of his ribs were broken. The doctor then refused more meds. On October 28, Matthew Perry went to his country club to play a game of Pickleball with friends. Perry returned to his home after the game and was seen by his assistant, who was leaving the house to run errands. At 4 p.m., the assistant returned home and found Perry floating face down in the heated end of the pool. Paramedics pulled Perry out of the pool and pronounced him dead at the scene. The DailyMail reports the actor died from an overdose of the "party drug ketamine." Tex McIver is a prominent Atlanta lawyer and Vice Chair of the State Elections Board; his wife, Diane, is a beautiful, incredibly successful businesswoman in her own right. They have been married for 11 years, but on a September night, Tex McIver shoots his wife in the back, killing her. As friends come to offer condolences on the passing of his wife, most expect to see Tex McIver upset, in shock that he accidentally shot his wife, the love of his life, and caused her death. Instead, they find a man who seems more concerned about money. Within two days of Diane's death, Tex is asking about his wife's Social Security benefits. Then, Tex McIver seems to be investigating how to liquidate his late wife's assets. He organizes many of his wife's possessions to sell at an auction as part of an estate sale and says he was liquidating things to settle his wife's estate. McIver sold everything he could of his wife's clothing, jewelry, furs, hats, just about everything. The sale lasted several days. It was later revealed that he owed his wife nearly $350,000 which she loaned him for a barn he built on the ranch for guests on their estate Atlanta police eventually decided to charge Tex McIver with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct in the shooting death of his wife. The charges seem to suggest that they believe Tex McIver's claim that the shooting was an accident. The day after a judge sends McIver to jail, he is indicted of malice murder, along with six other charges, including three counts of influencing a witness. When Lindsay Clancy’s third child is born, her recovery seems to be different. The 32-year-old reaches out to her parents and her in-laws to help her manage the children and things around the home. Her husband, Patrick Clancy sets up a home office in the basement to work remotely, so he can be on hand to help. When Lindsay starts to have thoughts of suicide, and worse, hurting the children, she checks herself into the McLean Psychiatric Hospital, Five days after checking into a psychiatric hospital Lindsay Clancy is reportedly told she doesn't have postpartum depression. Husband Patrick Clancy tells friends that after her hospital stay, Lindsay seems to be getting better. She is sleeping better, interacting with friends and family, and going out in public without any difficulty. When Patrick Clancy asks his wife if she is having any suicidal thoughts, Lindsay Clancy says "No." Later on in the year, with his wife having been prescribed at least 13 different medications, Patrick Clancy texts a friend saying he’s concerned that Lindsey has been prescribed too many medications. Patrick allegedly told friends that he worried she was suffering “the worst side effects possible” from one of her prescriptions. He says he thinks she is going through benzodiazepine withdrawal. On a Tuesday afternoon Lindsay Clancy sends a text to her husband to pick up takeout. As Patrick Clancy leaves to pick up dinner, Lindsay sends him a text to stop off by the drugstore and pick up some medicine for the children. Patrick Clancy stops by the drug store to pick up the medication but gets confused as to exactly which medicine to buy. He calls Lindsay Clancy on the phone, but she doesn't answer. She calls back a minute later. Patrick says she sounded like she was in the middle of something. Lindsay answers his question about the medication and Patrick picks it up and heads to the 3V to get their dinner. When Patrick Clancy comes home, he’s met with silence. He finds his wife in the backyard. She had jumped out of a second-floor window after slitting her wrists. The children are in the basement, strangled, an exercise band still wound around their necks. Investigators revealed in court papers that Lindsay Clancy allegedly researched "ways to kill" before the deaths of her three children. The suspect is a 23-year-old "undocumented" migrant, thought to have been living in the USA for the last 5 years. His name is Rafael Govea Romero. He was captured about 75 miles north of Edna in Schulenburg, Texas, where he reportedly has family. Romero is jailed on suspicion of capital murder. KPRC reports his bond is set at $2 million. Edna Police Chief Rick Boone says items missing from Lizbeth Medina's apartment were found in Romero's possession. Police say Romero confessed to the murder. His newborn sister is sleeping in a crib steps away. Derek Rosa is not your typical 13-year-old boy: He is on the honor roll with neighbors saying he is exceedingly nice and the model son. Irena Garcia, 39, just gave birth to a baby girl. So it was shocking when the teen called 911, telling the dispatcher that he snuck into the room where his mom and the baby were sleeping and stabbed his mother dead. As the operator talks to Rosa, he tells her he took pictures of the murder and sent them to a "friend." He also says he then deleted the photos. When pressed for the friend's name, Rosa says it is just somebody he knows online. During his call with 911, Rosa said he had a gun he planned to use to kill himself but decided not to. Derek Rosa was taken into custody and transported to a juvenile detention center. He was then moved to Jackson Memorial Hospital after he threatened to harm himself. Rosa was initially charged with second-degree murder, but a Miami-Dade grand jury found enough probable cause to indict the teen as an adult and up the charge to first-degree murder. Sam Haskell is sitting in jail with no bail, accused of murdering and dismembering his wife and her parents. Police found biological evidence at the Haskell home where the wife and in-laws lived. A law enforcement source says the biological evidence is from three different people. Police have yet to say what the nature of the biological evidence is but they have said they found blood at the house. Former friends of Haskell are speaking out. His former trainer has shared texts from Haskell in which he says can't handle seeing chopped-up bodies in horror movies. He says the violence is too "hard" for him to enjoy. Other friends have described Sam Haskell Jr as being "paranoid" before his arrest and the New York Post reports Haskell once pulled a machete on a childhood friend. Gabby Petito's parents have long believed that Chris and Roberta Laundrie knew Gabby was dead long before her body was found. In trying to prove it, Gabby's mother, Nichole Schmidt, and father, Joe Petito, have sued the Laundries and their attorney Steve Bertolino for intentional infliction of emotional distress. They are claiming that the trio was aware that Gabby Petito was dead but chose to do nothing. In depositions for the upcoming civil trial, we learn two days after Brian Laundrie is believed to have killed Gabby Petito, he makes a frantic call to his parents. In the August 29, 2021, call, Laundrie tells his parents that Gabby is "gone" and he needs a lawyer. According to Petitio family attorney Pat Reilly, Chris and Roberta Laundrie did not admit to knowing Gabby was killed, only that they were told by Brian that she was "gone." A retainer was sent to attorney Steve Bertolino six days later. Reilly, however, believes the family was told more than they are now admitting. Reilly has filed a motion to force Bertolino into revealing what Brian Laundrie told him. Giovanni Reichert is rushed to St. Anthony's Hospital after he reportedly becomes unresponsive after a bath. Reichert is in the care of McKinley Slone Hernandez, 25, a regular babysitter and friend of mom Stefanie Reichert. The two families are accustomed to being together as Reichert's other children often camp with Hernandez. Hours after leaving her 2-year-old son with Hernandez, Stefanie Reichert gets a text message from Hernandez telling her she needs to rush to St. Anthony's Hospital. The hospital contacted her as well. Reichert rushes to the hospital to see Giovanni surrounded by 50 doctors. Then the decision is made to airlift Giovanni to a hospital for an emergency operation to treat a bleed on the brain. The brain swelling ultimately necessitated the removal of part of the skull to reduce pressure. Emergency surgery saves Giovanni Reichert's life. Doctors tell Stephani Reichert that her son has suffered blunt force trauma injuries to his head and body. As Giovanni fights for his life, Reichert has no answer as to what happened. McKinley Slone Hernandez hasn't been forthcoming. The only thing Hernandez will say is that she was drinking and he got hurt in her care.McKinley Slone Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of child abuse, and cruelty toward a child, nearly three months after causing serious injuries to the boy’s head, neck, and arms.
