The Kerry Dixon Show - Man Utd v Chelsea
Chelsea legend Kerry Dixon looks back at Chelsea's draw against Barcelona in the Champions' League and looks ahead to Chelsea's crunch match against Man Utd on Sunday.Kerry discusses the draw against Barcelona; a great performance but arguably a disappointing result. Does Kerry think that using Hazard as a 'false number 9' worked or would he rather have seen Giroud or Morata start up front? Is it harsh to criticise Andreas Christensen for a momentary lapse of concentration that led to the Barcelona goal and let them back in to the tie? Does Kerry think that Chelsea can get the result we need in the Nou Camp in a couple of weeks time?Looking ahead to Man Utd v Chelsea, always a big match but with added spice in the context of the on-going feud between former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and present Chelsea manager Antonio Conte. After Chelsea's midweek performance against Barcelona confidence should be high. Will Conte go for the win against Utd or will he be cautious. With Mourinho's record against the top six surprisingly poor as Man Utd manager, will he park the bus?In association with chelseafan12.com Memorabilia - Shop - News - Video - FanzoneTHE HOME OF THE 12TH MAN! - "THE FAN"Follow ChelseaFan12 on twitter: @Fan12Chelsea Hosted on Acast. The Kerry Dixon Show - Hull & Barcelona!
Chelsea legend Kerry Dixon looks back at a welcome win against West Brom and forward to the FA Cup tie against Hull City and Tuesday night's Champions League match at home to Barcelona.Stamford Chidge and Kerry Dixon discuss whether Chelsea's 3-0 win against West Brom will lift the pressure on Antonio Conte. With two superb goals by Eden Hazard what do we have to do to keep him at the club and with an impressive debut from Olivier Giorud, will he put pressure on Alvaro Morata and could the two play together upfront? With one eye on Barcelona inevitably changes will be made against Hull City, but Kerry believes the most intriguing selection dilemma will be whether Giroud or Morata starts up front. Chelsea should beat Hull comfortably whoever makes the team, but Chidge reminds Kerry of the last time Hull beat Chelsea, in 1988 when Kerry was playing. Both Kerry and Chidge are excited by the visit of Barcelona on Tuesday and while Chelsea are the underdogs there is no reason why they can't get a result. The key is to be in the tie after the first leg. Preventing Messi and Suarez from scoring might be a big ask, but Kerry believes if Hazard is on form and the others raise their game, we can cause Barcelona problems too. It's all set up for an intriguing tie. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

“Release the Pressure” The Chelsea FanCast #414
Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Tony Glover and Dan Silver to celebrate a return to winning ways by Chelsea over bottom of the table West Brom. The Kerry Dixon Show - Chelsea v West Brom
Chelsea legend Kerry Dixon joins Stamford Chidge to try and figure out what went wrong at Watford, can it be turned around against West Brom and whether or not Antonio Conte has a future at Chelsea. In the aftermath of Chelsea's first back to back defeat of 3 goals since 1995, Stamford Chidge and Kerry Dixon discuss whether it is the players or should we question Conte’s team selection? Why didn’t he pick Giroud and why did he pick Bakayoko? Should Conte have done more to protect him, as a young player, clearly low in confidence? With the Press full of speculation and hype; should we ignore it and look at the bigger picture: injuries; transfer shortcomings; in 4th, FA Cup and Champions League and the fact that Conte has said he wants to stay Has Conte lost the plot or have the Board undermined him? Would Kerry rather he was given an opportunity to turn it round or is the relationship between Conte, the Board and the players irretrievably broken. With West Brom on Monday, Chelsea need a win and a performance and while Kerry is confident that the players are good enough to deliver this, right now they are just as likely to flop. Kerry believes that the absence of two players with presence and leadership can make all the difference to a team short of confidence and in free fall, in his day when Graham Roberts and Peter Nicholas arrived they turned a team who had been relegated in to champions in the space of 10 months. "Should He Stay or Should He Go?" Chelsea FanCast #413
Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Mark Worrall and Clayton Beerman to wallow in the misery of back to back defeats to Bournemouth and Watford. Sounds like fun :)On the show tonight we ask was Bakayoko’s performance one of the worst we’ve seen from a Chelsea player and should he have been protected more by Conte and not hung out to dry.In part two we relive the horror of an abject performance and some terrible defending; ask whether Hazard will bail out and look at the blame game between Conte and the Board and ask should Conte stay or should he go? In part three we ask if Conte goes who would the club replace him with and would it make any difference? In part four, we have more emails for Jonathan to read out. Hosted on Acast. The Kerry Dixon Show - Watford v Chelsea
Stamford Chidge is joined by Chelsea legend Kerry Dixon to look back at the poor defeat to Bournemouth, the Transfer window and Chelsea's forthcoming match against Watford.Kerry bemoans the lack of fight and leadership in the team as they succumbed to a very disappointing defeat 3-0 at home to Bournemouth. He shares the concern about the future of Antonio Conte and acknowledges that that the team need to get on with it and bounce back.Discussing the transfer window, Kerry believes that Olivier Giroud could prove to be a decent signing and can push Alvaro Morata for the position of Chelsea's number 1 striker. With an away trip to Watford coming up on Monday, Kerry feels that after the defeat to Bournemouth there will be a positive reaction by the players who will be keen to put the bad performance behind them. With a real fight on Chelsea's hands for a top four finish they will have to as there can be no more slip ups. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Kerry Dixon Show - Chelsea v Newcastle FA Cup
Stamford Chidge is joined by Chelsea legend Kerry Dixon to look back at Chelsea's disappointing defeat to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup and look ahead to the FA Cup tie on Sunday against Newcastle. In a very disappointing evening when Arsenal knocked us out of the Carabao Cup, was it all down to Willian getting injured and two lucky deflected goals or is it symptomatic of the lack of squad depth and quality and the pervading negativity around the club at the moment?Looking back to the match against Brighton, Kerry was impressed with the performance especially those of Hazard and Willian, ranking as one of our best this season. With Big Willy Caballero putting in a somewhat kamikze performance Kerry believes that he's a better keeper than he appears. With Newcastle visiting Chelsea on Sunday, this FA Cup tie has grown in importance as Chelsea's most realistic chance of a trophy this season. But will Conte put out his strongest side from who is available, and will this be good enough to beat Newcastle? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Big Willy Style! Chelsea FanCast #411
Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Clayton Beerman and Joe Tweedie to celebrate the return of beautiful football as Chelsea beat Brighton 4-0 at the weekend. On the show tonight we ask was Conte’s team selection and formation a case of necessity being the mother of invention and more important will he continue to use it going forward. In part two we ask is Big Willy Caballero the reincarnation of Petar Barota; does Michy Batshuayi have a future at Chelsea; why are Chelsea in the market for big lumps of strikers and which wing backs should we be after. In part three we look back to the gritty win against mighty Norwich on penalties in the FA Cup replay last week and ahead to the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Arsenal on Wednesday and the 4th round FA Cup tie against Newcastle on Sunday. In part four, we have some great emails for Jonathan to read out on Eden Hazard going to Real Madrid, the booing at the Bridge and how one lad from Utah fell in love with Chelsea. The Kerry Dixon Show - Brighton v Chelsea
Chelsea Legend Kerry Dixon joins Stamford Chidge to look back at an eventful FA Cup replay against Norwich and look ahead to this weekend's match against Brighton.A disappointing performance by Chelsea against Norwich but at least they live to fight another day having gone through on penalties to face Newcastle in the next round. Kerry has some strong views on the alleged dives, the lack of penalties, the red cards and the performance of Graham Scott the referee and VAR.After another 0-0 draw against Leicester last weekend, Kerry and Chidge discuss Chelsea's formation and goal scoring woe as well as Conte's management style. Does it matter whether the squad are happy or not? And would Andy Carroll be a good signing for Chelsea.Looking ahead to Brighton this weekend Chelsea face a selection dilemma with Morata and Pedro both suspended. Will Batshuayi get another chance to prove Conte wrong? Finally Kerry and Chidge recall Chelsea's matches against Brighton in Division 2 in the 1980's including the 2-1 win at the Goldstone Ground in 1983 where Kerry scored both goals and it was a bit of a riot...literally! All We Are Saying is Give Us a Goal! Chelsea FanCast #410
Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Tony Glover and Alex Churchill aka The Girl Who Likes Balls to look back at Chelsea's 0-0 draw against Leicester and all things Chelsea! On the show tonight we’ll be asking is it time for Conte to throw caution to the wind and change the 3-5-2? And while the team might be firing blanks the fact that we are not conceding seems to have been overlooked. In part two we ask is being tired a good excuse? Why did Hazard have a stinker? What happened with Courtois-gate and is the clubs transfer policy evidence of flawed thinking? In part three we look at the latest issues with the stadium development which will hopefully be resolved in the council meeting tonight. With the use of the VAR system in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal last week we ask was it a success and we ask have Chelsea charged too much for tickets to the FA Cup replay against Norwich on Wednesday this week.In part four, loads of emails this week. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Kerry Dixon Show - Chelsea v Leicester
Kerry Dixon and Stamford Chidge are back for the New Year to look back at Chelsea's matches against Norwich and Arsenal and look ahead to Chelsea v Leicester this Saturday.Kerry reflects back on a couple of disappointing 0-0 draws to Norwich and Arsenal in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. Do modern players have the same desire in the FA Cup as Kerry's generation? Should Antonio Conte have played the youngsters and kept the more experienced players on the bench. While Arsenal defended well and were organised, do Chelsea have a problem breaking teams down at the moment and if so, how does Conte address this issue? With the arrival of Ross Barkley, will he get a start against Leicester or Norwich and how will he do. Should Chelsea buy another striker in the transfer window and would Jamie Vardy be a better bet than Andy Carroll? And finally how will Chelsea fare against Leicester this weekend? Leicester will be no mugs sitting in 8th position, so can Chelsea expect a tough game this weekend. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Kerry Dixon Show - Everton v Chelsea
Stamford Chidge is joined by Chelsea legend Kerry Dixon to look back at the wins against Bournemouth and Southampton and look ahead to Saturday's match away to Everton.Chelsea put their supporters through the ringer in the Carabao Cup quarter final against Bournemouth, but the 2-1 win courtesy of Alvaro Morata's injury time goal puts us through to our 32nd semi-final since 1994. It also means that we'll be facing Arsenal in the semi-final who we'll be playing 3 times in the space of a couple of weeks. Kerry discusses this and the performance of young Ethan Ampadu, a real prospect but can he break through?Looking back to the Southampton match, while it keeps the momentum going, does Kerry think we were wasteful or just unlucky and what does he think of the selection of Willian, Hazard and Pedro instead of Morata or Batshuayi?Everton have found some form since Big Sam Allardyce took over, but will it be a stern test for Chelsea on Saturday and how much will it be down to him? Kerry also gives us his thoughts on the match against Southampton on Saturday. After the defeat to West Ham was Conte right to admit that the title has gone and can tiredness really be an excuse for the sluggish performance? What message did starting Willian, Hazard and Pedro against Huddersfield send to Michy Batshuayi? After all with a 3-1 win it is hard to argue against it?Which Chelsea side will turn up against Southampton on Saturday? Will the Saints park the bus and will an early goal be crucial for Chelsea? What a Waste! Chelsea FanCast #407
Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Tony Glover and Alex Churchill aka The Girl Who Likes Balls to look back on a wasteful defeat to West Ham and the Champions League draw where we renew hostilities with Barcelona. On the show tonight we’ll be asking whether the title challenge really has ended; was Conte right to be so brutally honest and what can we expect for the rest of the season? In part two we ask whilst losing to West Ham was a nasty case of déjà vu is it a case of stop Hazard; stop Chelsea or is there something wrong with team selection and squad rotation. And to lighten the mood we’ll be hearing from Alex about her experience of watching the match in the Football Factory at Legends in New York City.In part three we discuss today’s draw for the Champions League round of 16 where Chelsea has drawn Barcelona. The Kerry Dixon Show - West Ham v Chelsea
Chelsea Legend Kerry Dixon joins Stamford Chidge to look ahead to this Saturday's match away to West Ham and look back to the Newcastle and Atletico Madrid matches.Chelsea rue missed chances against Atletico Madrid in midweek and now face the prospect of a round of 16 tie against Barcelona, PSG or Besiktas, but was it the matches against Roma that were the real problem?Eden Hazard came to the fore against Newcastle last week and Kerry believes he is becoming one of our best ever players, but he needs to keep delivering. Danny Drinkwater impressed as did Victor Moses returning from injury which may help Antonio Conte with 7 matches in the next 21 days to get through.Looking ahead to the match against West Ham on Saturday, Kerry believes that while the Hammers should not be underestimated, Chelsea should be more than good enough to take all three points and hopefully make up ground on Utd and City.In association with chelseafan12.com Memorabilia - Shop - News - Video - FanzoneTHE HOME OF THE 12TH MAN! - "THE FAN"Follow ChelseaFan12 on twitter: @Fan12Chelsea Hosted on Acast. Chelsea FanCast: Live from the Chelsea Pensioner
For the first time in about 5 years, The Chelsea FanCast broadcast live from a pub after the Newcastle match.Held in the Chelsea Pensioner pub just round the corner from Stamford Bridge, the podcast was a joint effort between Chelsea FanCast and our podcasting cousins from the USA - London is Blue - who were over for the match with a group of fellow Chelsea supporters from the States.Stamford Chidge was joined by fellow FanCasters Jonathan Kydd, Alex 'The Girl Who Likes Ball's' Churchill and Dan Silver and from London is Blue, Brandon Busbee, Nick Verlaney and Dan Dormer all joined by a lively audience who were definitely fueled by Guinness and enjoying the post match glow of 3 points against the Geordies. The boys discussed the Newcastle match with Eden Hazard once again on fine form and dazzling us all with a superb 2 goal performance. Unlike Kevin Friend who was not the first referee to put in a stinker at the Bridge.Of course the return of Rafa was on the agenda and Chidge has plenty to say about the revisionism that seems to have occurred in the 4 years since Rafa thankfully left the Bridge. The London is Blue boys discuss what it is like for them to watch Chelsea play in the flesh, how much fun the pre and post-match is and how important understanding terrace culture is to them.Tim Rolls, author of the 'Diamonds, Dynamos and Devils' book about the Tommy Docherty Chelsea side of the 1960's popped in to have a chat about the book and also the new 'Carefree: Chelsea Chants and Terrace Culture' book written by Mark Worrall and Walter Otton. All this plus plenty of questions from the audience and lots and lots of Chelsea songs!A proper old school Chelsea FanCast-London is Blue mash up! EStamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Alex Churchill (The Girl Who Likes Balls) and Tony Glover to look back at the draw against Liverpool at the weekend and the win against Qarabag in the Champions' League. On the show tonight we’ll be asking did Conte make a tactical error or was it a tactical masterstroke resting Fabregas and then bringing him and Willian on to score? In part two we applaud Willian for rescuing a point and ask why does he get a hard time from so called fans? We applaud Cesar Azpilicueta for a man of the match performance – Chelsea’s Mr Consistency and we debate whether Klopp has the edge over Conte. In part three we look back at Chelsea’s win against Qarabag and look forward to Swansea at home on Wednesday and Chelsea’s fixtures up until January. The Kerry Dixon Show - Liverpool v Chelsea
Chelsea legend Kerry Dixon looks back at Chelsea's impressive wins against West Brom and Qarabag and looks ahead to this weekend's match against Liverpool. An easy win against Qarabag saw Chelsea qualify for the next stage of the Champions' league with a match to spare. Willian impressed scoring two superb goals and 'assisting' by winning two penalties. More important, key players were rested and those who played hardly had to break into a sweat and Chelsea seem to have a 'plan B'.Last weekend's 4-0 win against West Brom continues Chelsea's winning run and Hazard and Morata appear to be developing a telepathic relationship. Another impressive performance by Christensen begs the question will he be the young player to break through in to the first team. Kerry certainly hopes so.Looking ahead to the Liverpool match, Kerry feels that the key will be the two defences. If Chelsea can contain Liverpool's forward threat of Salah and Mane, then they should come away with all three points. Another win will be important to keep the run going and to keep the confidence building. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Perhaps more important how do Chelsea regain some consistency?Looking ahead to the Man Utd match, how difficult is it to predict which Chelsea will turn up and will they be up for it? Mourinho has a habit of not losing to rivals away from home so will he park the bus or recognise that Chelsea may be there for the taking? Eden Hazard was the star of the show with a world class display but it was a great team performance. Does Kerry think this has laid down a marker for Chelsea in Europe this season? With a hat-trick against Stoke City last weekend, Alvaro Morata has certainly laid down a marker and Chidge and Kerry discuss the comparisons already being made to Chelsea legend Peter Osgood. Kerry still believes that Morata needs to do it in the big games before his greatness can be assured.Talking of big games, Kerry and Chidge look forward to this weekends match against Man City. Oliver's Army - Chelsea FanCast #397
Stamford Chidge and Jonathan Kydd are joined by 'the smut buddies' Tony Glover and Alex Churchill ('The Girl Who Likes Balls') to look back at frustrating match against Arsenal. It was a frustrating match on Sunday as Chelsea drew with Arsenal. Even more so for Alvaro Morata who got no service and no support from Michael Oliver. While Oliver’s decisions wound up the Chelsea faithful for most of the match, there can be little argument with Luiz’s red card, Chelsea’s third in five matches this season. Will Chelsea’s ill-discipline cost us? Do Arsenal deserve some credit for stifling us and avoiding their usual defeat or should Conte shoulder some of the blame?Ultimately, neither side deserved to win or lose; a point probably suits both. Our disappointment probably has more to do with the fact that we have become somewhat used to giving the Arse a smacking at the Bridge over recent years. On the show tonight we ask whether Michael Oliver was biased, incompetent or just inconsistent and are Chelsea undisciplined and will it cost them.In part two we ask whether Conte got the team selection right. Did we underestimate Arsenal and have they learnt how to play us?In part three we look back at the Champions League game against Qarabag last week and look forward to the League Cup tie against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday and the Premier League match against Stoke next Saturday. In part four we have some top emails Australia, California and Putney! It looks like he might just be the real deal.Talking about the Qarabag game everyone loved the Zappacosta goal but was it a cross or a shot? Christensen impressed but does Batshuayi have work to do in spite of scoring? Good to see Chelsea's Champions' League campaign get off to a good start, especially with Roma and Atletico Madrid drawing.Looking ahead to the Arsenal match do lessons need to be learned from our recent defeats against them and will it affect Conte's game-plan? Will Hazard start against Arsenal and if not will we have enough to beat the Gunners without him? Can Chelsea exploit Arsenal's weakness' in midfield and defence whilst keeping their attacking threat at bay?We learned this week that Paul Canoville who played in the same Chelsea team as Kerry in the 1980's is currently recovering in intensive care after a major surgery.
