This past week my husband and I had our 20 week anatomy scan, which means I am halfway through my pregnancy! Anytime I'm in a season of change, I like to reflect, audit and analyze what has gone well in past biz remodels and/or what has gotten me to where I'm at. I'm POSITIVE you've heard the phrase, "pull back to spring forward", aka the slingshot effect. If you visualize a slingshot, it makes complete sense. For the ball/marble/whatever you put inside the slingshot to whip forward and go far…you need to pull it back with enough strength. That PULLBACK season is what SO many entrepreneurs resist, especially if they've experienced a lot of financial success and are KNOWN for that financial success. It's like they're scared to not have big numbers plastered all over their IG for a few months, even if they logically know it means BIGGER numbers down the line. Our egos definitely play a big part, as well as our perceived status. But my friend, there is something SO stinkin powerful about working BTS (and possibly sharing that work front facing), while you perfect your product, systems and overall messaging to come back even stronger. In this episode we're talking about WHY this is so essential and why entrepreneurs who DON'T do this are at risk of burning out…and fast. I recorded this Heart to Heart for you fresh off of a 2-day in person client retreat, so basically it's inspo on SPEED. Today's awkward time interview is super special, not only because it's a message I think EVERYONE needs to hear right now (during the sometimes slower season in summer), but with someone I've had the pleasure of working closely with over the last seven months. Shay Gottsacker is a fat loss coach who's been building her brand and business since 2018. In this episode we talk about the beginning years in her business; the seemingly "slow years" that built such a strong foundation for her now multiple six figure business. This Heart to Heart was recorded immediately after I got off of an INCREDIBLE interview with Beverly Simpson. Our conversation inspired me so much that I wanted to share a lot of what we talked about in this episode, as a "light tough love" episode. Because honestly? I see SO MANY amazing coaches and strategists NOT putting themselves out there fully because of some imaginary or "arbitrary" metric they think they have to hit to go for it. And quite frankly? I've been in the coaching industry for eleven years, so I'm basically a grandma at this point. Today's heart to heart is in true Meg fashion: a hodgepodge of my thoughts and feelings from the past week. I touch on how hard it has been for me to let go of control, especially when it comes to the creative aspects of my business, and how working with a marketing agency is forcing me to do so. I believe in SEASONS when it comes to your business. In real life? It's one thing to prep your clients, audience, and team for a planned vacation. It's another when life completely comes at you and you're FORCED to take time off. Well that's exactly what happened to me at the end of May when my father passed. Within 24 hours I made the decision to take a month off of serving clients, posting on social and my podcast/email list. So how did I quickly tell my audience? How did I prep my clients to be okay during this time? What was their progress like while I was gone? HINT: It was AMAZING. Like best launches yet amazing. After my father passed, I honestly forgot I was pregnant. (Obviously not for long, but it was just so clouded by immense grief). Then my husband and I went to our first sonogram (10 days after he passed) and found out… WE'RE HAVING TWINS. Talk about a P-I-V-O-T. Our life got completely turned upside down for the second time in one month, but this time in the most beautiful way possible. If you're not familiar with our story, my husband and I have had quite the journey to get to this point; separating in 2020 for 6 months on the brink of divorce to having a marriage that gets stronger every single day, EVEN WHEN while experiencing such huge loss including, losing his dad, my dad and having a miscarriage last year. It's hard for me to put into words how I truly feel, so in true Meg fashion I recorded this Heart to Heart podcast episode for you, my first in over a month. When it comes to selling your offers consistently on social media, there is NOTHING more important than having the right messaging. You could have the best launch strategy, vehicle, funnel, etc in the world, but if the messaging that is INSIDE of it isn't ACTIVATING your ideal client, it's not going to result in what you're wanting = more sales. If you haven't been in my world over the last month, you might not know that my father, John Yelaney, passed away unexpectedly on May 26th. My entire world was flipped upside down when this happened and I made the decision to take off work for four weeks; both client facing work as well as emails, podcasting and social content. This episode is a very honest and possibly at points TMI episode of what life has been like for me over the last four weeks. I wanted to be as real as possible with you and not sugarcoat what's been going on in my world. I share why and how I took the last four weeks of work off, and why I decided to still go ahead with a retreat I had planned during this time. I also share what to expect from me in the coming weeks. This past weekend my husband and I had one of the best weekends of our lives and definitely one of the top 3 experiences in our marriage (probably our wedding day being #1). It's not easy to ask for help, especially when you feel like you're 'starting over.' But that's exactly what Sami, our SOSA student feature of the day, did when she joined us last year. Sami pivoted from digital nomad coaching to relationship coaching and was struggling to really find her flow with content and sign clients in this new niche. I've been on a Podcast tour lately and a big topic I've been discussing is how to show up on social media and for your business in general when your personal life is HAP-PEN-ING! I LOVE MONEY. Let me start by saying that. I love what money can do when in the hands of good people. I love the experiences and life money has afforded me and my clients. I love the impact I've been able to make with money. But what I didn't love along this business journey? Was how attached my worth as a human became SO TIED to how much money I made, not to mention my daily mood swings. Good income month? Happy as a clam. Lower income month? It's the end of the world. Over the last two years I've done a lot of work re-wiring these habits and I can say with complete confidence I've come out on the other side. The funny part? My MONEY goals are actually way WAY bigger today than they were a few years ago. But I no longer look at the achievement of my goals in a specified time period as an indicator of my worthiness. I no longer base my moods on money. And my friend, it's the most freeing feeling in the world. I'm happy. I love my life. And money gets to be a beautiful part of it, enhancing experiences and giving my family and I choices. And I'll never take that for granted for one minute. I promise if you ever work in ANY of my programs to always help you build a business in a way that helps you have a healthy relationship with money; one that expands you and doesn't stress you. What else is new, I'm getting vulnerable in today's heart to heart and sharing a fear that's come up for me in the past few weeks as I've been working through a program called To Be Magnetic. This program is all about rewiring subconscious beliefs to manifest what you desire, and I went into this honestly thinking it would be a breeze and I wouldn't have much to work through, because honestly? I truly believe I can create the life I desire, because I already have in so many ways. But when I went to do the work this fear of "can I truly be the successful CEO I want to be AND the mom I want to be all at the same time?" thought kept coming up as my husband and I are back in the trying to conceive journey. I have NO DOUBT this one will resonate with my mom entrepreneurs or any entrepreneurs who want to eventually be a mom one day, but even if you don't fall in this camp, I think it'll bring up the power of our minds and how working on ourselves truly IS THE KEY to growing our business.
