S6 Ep 57Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Waka waka eh eh? The game was probably second to the occasion as Forest's army of travelling fans supported the team to an away point. Having scored Forest's first Premier League goal this season, Taiwo Awoniyi also got the last, hitting double figures in his debut Premier League campaign. However, Will Hughes' header deflected off Willy Boly to earn the hosts a point, which meant that everyone was probably happy enough. Rich Ferraro is joined by Tom and Adam, both fresh back from a long day in the capital, to reflect upon the trip to Selhurst Park and the sense of occasion as the Reds' fans celebrated survival and the players and staff joined in, including Mr Marinakis. We'll be back with our end of season review and a couple of podcast specials over the summer, so stay tuned! S6 Ep 56Nottingham Forest 1-0 Arsenal: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

THEY DID IT! WE DID IT! Forest preserved their Premier League status with a game to spare, as they defeated Arsenal at the City Ground, destroying the visitors' faint title hopes in the process. The game wasn't massively memorable, but the occasion was immense - the City Ground has never been so loud and the team, staff and fans were jubilant at the final whistle. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz to discuss the game, and the genius that is Stevie Cooper. Emilka Forest joins with her views on the atmosphere, celebrations and Mr Marinakis' decision to stick with the gaffer. Callum Castel also joins us to provide the latest news roundup, and there are cameo appearances from Steven and Adam on a jubilant day for the Reds. S6 Ep 55Chelsea 2-2 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

A tense and battling performance earned the Reds a point, but for a while it felt like it could have been more. A header in each half from Taiwo Awoniyi put Forest in the lead, then pulled them back into contention, either side of Raheem Sterling's (preventable) brace. Rich Ferraro is joined by the Maradona of the Midlands to discuss the game, with Callum Castel providing the latest news roundup. Time will tell if this point is enough, but for now the Reds are three points outside of the relegation zone, before next week's big match against Arsenal rounds off the City Ground season. S6 Ep 54Nottingham Forest 4-3 Southampton: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Phew. That was way closer than we would have liked, wasn't it? In the end, three very good goals (two for Awoniyi and one for Danilo), plus a Morgan Gibbs-White penalty, saw Forest take the points despite their best efforts to let Saints back into the match. Rich Ferraro is joined by Adam to discuss a game that saw the Reds climb three places, and three points, out of the relegation zone, with special mentions for Mangala, Danilo, Awoniyi, Worrall and the almost-goal by Felipe. We also hear from Forest fan Emilka and Southampton fan Chris with their reflections on another special night at the City Ground. S6 Ep 53Forest philosophies: The 1865 Nottingham Forest Podcast, April-May 2023

In our monthly Forest Ramble magazine show, Rich Ferraro is joined by Adam, Steven and Tom to discuss a whole range of Reds issues: Can the Reds beat the drop and how many points will it take to do it? Midfield matters and keeper conundrums. And not for the first time, why so many injuries? All this and more, as we are joined once again by Jeremy Davies with the 1865 Sketch, we discuss the recent show of solidarity with Hillsborough survivors with Zigger Zagger Pete, and we have another round of our Nottingham Forest quiz. S6 Ep 52Brentford 2-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

The circumstances of this defeat felt particularly damaging as Brentford scored two late goals, the second of which came after Danilo had to come off due to injury, leaving the Reds with ten men. To add insult to injury, the winning goal was checked and Yoann Wissa was actually marginally onside. It had all felt so promising after Danilo had given the Reds the lead on the stroke of half-time. Baz is joined by Tom Newton to talk about another awayday setback, on a weekend which will likely see Forest back in the drop zone; talking points include tactics, substitutions, goalkeepers, and (once again) injuries. Billy The Bee also joins us from the Beesotted Brentford channel to give his view on the game, and the Reds' chances of survival. S6 Ep 51Nottingham Forest 3-1 Brighton and Hove Albion: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

A welcome three points, and five goals in two matches, as Forest beat Brighton with a battling second-half performance, showing that Forest are magic on and off the pitch. Despite missing a first half penalty and conceding another soft goal, Forest drew level in first half stoppage time through Pascal Gross' own goal, and this set them up to win through Danilo and Morgan Gibbs-White (with the second penalty of the match). Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz to talk tactics, formations and injuries, as well as Steve Cooper's post-match words, and the influence of the City Ground crowd (who were LOUD in the second half). Callum Castel also joins us with a news roundup, and finally, we announce our new partnership with Football Prizes - check our social media for more. S6 Ep 50Liverpool 3-2 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Forest huffed and puffed, but despite scoring twice away from home, it was Diogo Jota and Mo Salah who blew the Reds' house down, as defensive indiscipline from set pieces led to cheap goals conceded. Still, Neco Williams and Morgan Gibbs-White both scored deflected efforts to give the away fans some hope that there is some spirit in the Forest ranks. Steven Toplis and Tom Newton discuss the action after a day when Forest supporters showed solidarity with Hillsborough victims, survivors and their families. We are also joined by Harriet Prior from The Anfield Wrap, who provides a view from the opposition. S6 Ep 49Nottingham Forest 0-2 Manchester United: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

The billionaires of Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest as £100m Antony and £80m Casemiro shone for the visitors. It was the Brazilian winger who took the headlines as he scored one and made one, and provided threat from the wing, while £70m Bruno Fernandes also peppered the Forest goal. At least £50m Antony Martial and £80m Harry Maguire had to sing for their supper, with the England defender fortunate not to concede a penalty which VAR saw, but decided not to give. Rich Ferraro and Baz dissect the action and the talking points, including game plans, formations and injuries, the VAR call and the future of Steve Cooper. We are also joined by Man United fan Steven Barnes who provides a view from the opposition. S6 Ep 48Aston Villa 2-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

A change in formation and personnel, but the same old result. Following a reasonable showing in the first half, a moment of madness from Jonjo Shelvey gifted a goal to Bertrand Traore. The Reds (yellows) were up against it from that moment on; substitutions were unsuccessful, and the misery was compounded when Forest went down to ten men after using all their subs. Ollie Watkins sealed the result in stoppage time. Steven and Tom discuss the match after getting home from Villa Park, and having a night to sleep on it. Naturally, they discuss the pressure on the manager, and the performance of some of the team, and the effects of injuries as we lose Kouyate and Niakhate again. We also get a view from the opposition, as we are joined by Neil from For The Love Of Paul McGrath. S6 Ep 47Leeds United 2-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Forest took an early lead at Elland Road but after that never really laid a glove on a resurgent Leeds side. Orel Mangala's well-taken goal gave the travelling fans some hope, but Jack Harrison's soft equaliser and Luis Sinisterra's curler ensured that the hosts had the lead at the break. The Reds shuffled things around but couldn't make an impression, leaving Steve Cooper eight games without a win. Rich discusses the game with Steven, who is fresh back from Leeds, and apart from the match action, the conversation is dominated by the Head Coach's future - we report on the statement by Evangelos Marinakis and speculate on what this could mean for the rest of the season and beyond. S6 Ep 46Nottingham Forest 1-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

A late equaliser from Daniel Podence made a good performance feel like a disappointing result, as Forest failed to capitalise on their chances and take all the points. Brennan Johnson's first half goal gave the Reds the advantage, but it could have been more, especially when Emmanuel Dennis failed to square to Morgan Gibbs-White in the second half. Rich and Baz discuss a feisty encounter, touchline bust-ups and ask the eternal question of "what the hell is VAR for?". We also consider Steve Cooper's tenure on a day when the City Ground faithful showed enormous support for the Head Coach as rumours swirl about his job security. It looks like Forest are going to need to buck their away form - we'll be back after the Leeds and Villa games, Subscribe to 1865 via your podcast provider, and please leave a review, as it helps other Forest supporters find our content: Apple - Spotify - YouTube - Google. S6 Ep 45Football decisions: The 1865 Nottingham Forest Podcast, March 2023

After looking in fine fettle, the last few weeks have seen Forest's form fall away. In this month's 1865 Forest Ramble: The table is getting tighter and tighter - can the Reds beat the drop? Has Forest’s January transfer business actually made the team weaker? Why so many injuries? All this and more, as we also have our regular sketch from Jeremy Davies, and we have another round of our Nottingham Forest quiz (and a surprising appearance from an early 90s indie band). S6 Ep 44Nottingham Forest 1-2 Newcastle United: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

A stoppage-time penalty from Alexander Isak saw the Reds fall to their first home defeat since October, and record consecutive Premier League defeats. Emmanuel Dennis had given Forest the lead with an expert finish before Isak scored his first at the end of the first half. There was also time for another curious VAR call in the home team's favour, before Moussa Niakhaté's mistake gave Isak his chance to seal the win. Rich and Steven discuss the game, with expert analysis from Beth of Newcastle Fan TV, and our very own Adam. We are also joined by Callum with the latest Forest news, and take some time to dissect what Forest need to do after the international break, as things look a bit bleak right now. S6 Ep 43Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Another bad away day for the Reds, who were lucky that VAR ruled in their favour after just three minutes, but still fell to another thrashing, this time at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur. Harry Kane scored two and Son Heung Min got the other, with Joe Worrall getting a consolation, and Andre Ayew missing a penalty which would have flattered the Reds. Steven is joined by Tom, who went to the match and despite sleeping on it, is understandably disgruntled. We also hear from JP from the Cheese Room Spurs channel, who is the cheeriest voice you will hear all week, and our very own Jeremy Davies who was exiled in the home end, and provides his thoughts on the Reds' performance. S6 Ep 42Nottingham Forest 2-2 Everton: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

It was billed as a six-pointer, a must win, so both teams will be equally (dis)satisfied with a point each. Steve Cooper and Forest will be unhappy with the manner of the goals conceded, although Brennan Johnson's brace of goals ensured that the Reds got a share of the spoils. Rich and Baz discuss the game, Steve Cooper's reaction and the tactical conundrums of how to get the best from the current squad. We are also joined by Mike from The Unholy Trinity Podcast, for a view from the away end. S6 Ep 41West Ham 4-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

A disastrous day for Steve Cooper and the Reds as the gaffer bemoaned the efforts of his team. In reality, he needs to take his share of the blame for a substitution and formation change at 0-0 that backfired badly, and allowed West Ham to score four goals without reply. Steven hosts, and is joined by Adam, who has fortunately had enough time to calm down a bit after his journey home from east London. S6 Ep 40Nottingham Forest 1-1 Manchester City: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Chris Wood's late equaliser saw Forest grab a point in a match which showcased Steve Cooper's gameplan. The gaffer acknowledged that the Reds had to put their own ambitions to one side for much of this encounter, but subs and tactical changes rattled Pep Guardiola and his team. Baz and Tom discuss the match, the tactics and the genius of the Forest Head Coach. S6 Ep 38Nottingham Forest 1-0 Leeds United: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Forest ground out a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Leeds United in this relegation six-pointer. The result was due in no small part to the heroics of debutant keeper Keylor Navas, and a formation and tactical change at half-time by Stevie Cooper. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz to discuss the match, the table and the fixture list as Forest draw a line under a positive six weeks or so, before entering a tricky run of games. S6 Ep 39Fulham 2-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Forest were deservedly beaten by Marco Silva's Fulham, and despite a 20-minute period of pressure in the second half, can have no complaints about the result as the hosts offered far more threat in front of goal. The Reds were also hamstrung (ahem) by the loss of centre-halves Willy Boly and Scott McKenna after just five minutes. The Maradona of the Midlands is joined by Steven Toplis to discuss things from a Red perspective, and we also hear from Matt from Fulham Focus, providing a view from the home end. S6 Ep 37Manchester United 2-0 Nottingham Forest (5-0 on aggregate): The 1865 Carabao Cup Match Report

The result we dreamed of was overtaken by the result most likely, as Manchester United scored two quick goals in the last quarter of the game to well and truly put this tie to bed. Again, Forest put in a creditable performance, but United will feel as though they were in control. As well as the match, we also include a discussion about the Reds' deadline day transfer activity, as Shelvey, Felipe and Navas (and then Ayew) join the Forest ranks. The transfer window is almost over and Forest have added two more Brazilians and a Kiwi. In this month's Forest Ramble: Forest’s summer transfer business: did we manage more hits than misses? Do we salute to Hennessy as the Reds’s number 2, or should we sign a new custodian while Hendo’s on the mendo? There is a real Brazilian influence on the team - will the Big D get Reds fans excited? All this and more, as we also have our regular sketch from Jeremy Davies, we discuss mental health and mentality, and we will have a new quiz for you Presented by Rich Ferraro, with Baz, the Maradona of the Midlands, Tom Newton, Baz, and Adam; Callum Castel provides the news roundup and there is an interview with Tom Home from blOKes. S6 Ep 35Nottingham Forest 0-3 Manchester United: The 1865 Carabao Cup Match Report

Forest were comprehensively beaten in the end by a Manchester United team who took an early lead through Marcus Rashford, before goals at the end of each half by Weghorst and Fernandes sealed the deal. However, the Reds did have a really good spell in the first half, and it could have been so different if Sam Surridge's equaliser had stood when Forest were 1-0 down; as it was, VAR ruled that the striker's shoelace was offside. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz to discuss the game, making comparisons with last month's 3-0 defeat to the same opponents, and discussing disallowed goals, Danilo, Dennis and defending. S6 Ep 34Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

A late goal by sub Sam Surridge earned the Reds a share of the spoils away at Bournemouth. The hosts had taken a first half lead and although the Reds had a good number of efforts on goal, Ryan Yates' first half header was ruled out for an offside. Even when Surridge did equalise, VAR had to check for offside, but the former Bournemouth man's goal stood. The Maradona of the Midlands is joined by Steven Toplis to discuss the game, with a view from the home end provided by Jon Sparks from the Cherries Red Army YouTube channel. S6 Ep 33Nottingham Forest 2-0 Leicester City: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

This felt like a symbolic result after Forest got battered at the King Power Stadium a few months ago, as a measure of how far the Reds have come. Two goals from Brennan Johnson decided the match, the first after VAR intervened on an offside call, and the second from a frankly sexy counter-attack. Rich Ferraro and Baz discuss the game, the injuries and Forest's newfound status as a mid-table Premier League team (but it's still pretty tight down there). We also have honourable mentions for Renan Lodi, Serge Aurier and of course Gibbs-White, Johnson and that man Stevie Cooper. Thanks for listening as always, we'll be back after the Bournemouth game. S6 Ep 32Nottingham Forest 1-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers (4-3 on pens): The 1865 Carabao Cup Match Report

A dramatic night at the City Ground saw tempers flare, especially at the end after Forest won a penalty shootout to progress to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup. Wolves will argue that they were marginally the better team in normal time, forcing a number of saves from Dean Henderson and having a penalty claim that falls into the "seen them given" category. Baz presents our match report alongside Tom Newton, whose voice was still recovering! Adam also chips in with his views on the Morgan Gibbs-White controversy (if you can call it that). S6 Ep 31Blackpool 4-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 FA Cup Match Report

Eleven changes to the starting line-up and most of them underperformed as Forest crashed to a deserved FA Cup exit at the hands of Championship strugglers Blackpool. The Reds deservedly went behind but then had more than enough chances to put the game out of sight, before more defensive errors allowed the Seasiders to convincingly put the game to bed, and leave Steve Cooper absolutely fuming. Steven Toplis presents alongside Adam, who is fresh back from his disappointing day at the seaside. S6 Ep 30Southampton 0-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

It was a big night for Forest - not quite must-win, but certainly must-not-lose against bottom of the table Southampton. The Reds (wearing yellow) duly took all three points, courtesy of Taiwo Awoniyi's first half goal. Although the away team did not play amazingly, the Saints could offer absolutely nothing and Dean Henderson didn't have to make a save as Forest got their first away win this century in the Premier League. Baz presents this match report, and is joined by a still-hoarse Tom Newton, fresh back from St Mary's to discuss Taiwo, Scarpa and the back four; we also hear from some disgruntled Saints fans. S6 Ep 29Nottingham Forest 1-1 Chelsea: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

It felt a little bleak when Forest managed to concede yet another soft goal in the first half, but they came out fighting after the break to really take the game to Chelsea; Morgan Gibbs-White was unlucky with a 20 yard thunderbolt, and the number 10's corner caused havoc in the box, and Serge Aurier took advantage to score his first goal for the club. In the end, Forest were disappointed not to get the win which would have elevated them out of the drop zone. Steven Toplis is joined by a rather hoarse Tom Newton to review the match, in particular the Reds' second half showing, and thinking ahead to the midweek six-pointer against Southampton; we'll be back after the match at St Mary's. It was a comfortable victory for the home team as Forest huffed and puffed, but provided very little threat to the Manchester United goal. First half efforts in quick succession from Marcus Rashford and Antony Martial effectively killed the game, although things could have been different if one of Ryan Yates' efforts had crept in; the first was saved, and the second snuck in off the leg of Willy Boly, who was in an offside position. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz to review the match and there is a view from the home end by Man United fan Steven Barnes. We also have a think about the home and away dichotomy, and analyse Steve Cooper's post-match comments where he considered the difference in levels between Championship and Premier League. S6 Ep 27Blackburn Rovers 1-4 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Carabao Cup Match Report

In the end it was a convincing and comfortable victory for the Reds, who put out a strong XI against Blackburn's much-changed team. Brennan Johnson got two goals and put in a strong showing, with Jesse Lingard also causing problems, and scoring a goal with a double deflection. JLingz also set up Taiwo Awoniyi's goal with a great pass which the Nigerian complemented with a good cut inside and finish. Rich Ferraro is joined by guest reporter George Edwards to review the match and there is a view from the home end by Dan from Rovers Chat. We also take a few minutes to reflect upon the news that Forest will be sporting the UN Refugee Agency's logo on their kits for the rest of the season, starting from New Year's Day. S6 Ep 24Nottingham Forest 1-0 Crystal Palace: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Forest got a home win against Crystal Palace to round off the first part of the Premier League season before the World Cup break. The result was crucial because it took the Reds off the bottom of the table, and it also means that the Reds have surpassed the points record of Derby County's Worst Team In History, with well over half the season to go! Rich Ferraro is joined by the Maradona of the Midlands to talk about team selection and tactics, VAR, and why Stevie Cooper is such a gem. We also hear from Jim of the Five Year Plan podcast, to give a view from the away end. We'll be back to sum up the first half(ish) of the season before the World Cup begins - stay tuned! S6 Ep 23Nottingham Forest 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur: The 1865 Carabao Cup Match Report

It was a satisfying night at the City Ground, as Steve Cooper's much-changed team put a strong Tottenham side out of the Carabao Cup. Renan Lodi and Jesse Lingard both scored their first Forest goals, and it could have been more, before Orel Mangala saw red for a second bookable offence. Adam reports back, fresh from the City Ground, reporting on performances, goals, and his wife attending her first Forest match, only to be reduced to the role of "designated Bovril holder". Sorry, Mrs A. We'll be back with a full-length match report after the Palace match. S6 Ep 22Nottingham Forest 2-2 Brentford: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

A point gained, or two dropped? A late late own goal rescued a point for the Reds in a game laced with refereeing controversy - Steve Cooper said that either all the penalty claims should have been given, or none of them, and even the OG needed VAR to confirm whether or not there was an offside. Oof. Steven Toplis and Baz discuss Morgan Gibbs-White's first goal in a Red shirt; the penalties that were, and weren't given; and whether a draw at home to Brentford means that Forest are destined for the drop, or does a mostly positive performance give us hope? S6 Ep 21Arsenal 5-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Steve Cooper could not hide his emotions as Forest crumbled in the second half to lose by five goals to league leaders Arsenal. The Head Coach was understandably annoyed that, having mostly followed the game plan in the first half, his players threw it out of the window with a lack of the basics - hard work and application. Rich Ferraro is joined by Tom Newton, who was rather vexed that the fans turned up, but the players didn't. We discuss what the plan might have been and what Forest will need to do to avoid the drop this season. We are also joined by Bob from The Away Gooners YouTube channel, who gives his thoughts on the match and Forest's prospects. It's the return of the 1865 Forest Ramble! In our monthly discussion show, we take the time to have a chat about Steve Cooper and his role in plugging our leaky defence; off-pitch matters, with the arrival of Filippo Giraldi and dismissal of Andy Scott and George Syrianos; and we take the time to discuss the accusations of offensive chanting by Forest supporters in the Liverpool match, with our guest Zigger Zagger. Rich Ferraro presents, and is joined by Steven, Tom, Adam and Baz to talk about the key issues of the last month or so, and also to play a game of Guess That Red. S6 Ep 19Nottingham Forest 1-0 Liverpool: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

A great victory for the Reds, as Taiwo Awoniyi's goal against his former club was enough to defeat Liverpool. Morgan Gibbs-White and Ryan Yates could have added to the lead before Dean Henderson made several late saves to preserve the points. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz to discuss the match, the tactics and notable performances from the likes of Kouyate, Yates and Awoniyi, although the whole team performed well. We also discuss Steve Cooper's tactical plan and how the players seem to be working as a unit - does this give the Reds a chance of avoiding the drop this season? S6 Ep 18Brighton and Hove Albion 0-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Not one for the neutrals, this game saw Forest finish with an XG of 0.13, as the hosts' inability in front of goal, coupled with some resolute defensive play from the Reds, saw Forest leave the Amex with a hard-fought point. In truth, Dean Henderson only had to make one or two decent saves, and Leandro Trossard's effort hit the bar, so Roberto de Zerbi's men really should have made more of their territorial advantage. Steven Toplis and Tom Newton discuss a game which saw Forest's only real shot go out for a throw-in; Scott from We Are Brighton also joins us to discuss a game which won't live long in the memory, but which was kind of fun in its own way. S6 Ep 17Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Is it too early for this to count as a six-pointer? It was certainly a bitterly disappointing result as Wolverhampton Wanderers, lowest scorers in the league, managed to beat Forest in a tale of two penalties; Ruben Neves made his spot-kick count, while Brennan Johnson saw his effort saved by the one-armed Jose Sa. Rich Ferraro is joined by Steven Toplis to discuss the game, the performance, the lack of composure, and to ponder on Steve Cooper's post-match thoughts - the gaffer certainly doesn't seem to be shying away from the challenge. We also hear from Wolves fan Matt Langham, who has some kind words for the Reds after a match in which neither team looked that sharp. Finally, Callum Castel provides the 1865 news roundup, prompting Rich and Steven to have a brief discussion over what is really happening at the City Ground. S6 Ep 16Nottingham Forest 1-1 Aston Villa: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

It was the first chance for Reds fans to show their appreciation to Stevie Cooper since he signed his new contract, and the players alos showed their love for the gaffer with a much improved performance. Villa have problems of their own, but aside from Ashley Young's rocket, rarely posed any real threat. Rich Ferraro and Baz take time to dissect the action, and reflect upon Cooper's team selection and tactical approach, and how this gave the Reds some much needed spine. We also have praise for a number of players including Morgan Gibbs-White and Emmanuel Dennis. The view from the away end comes from Neil, the host of For The Love of Paul McGrath podcast. S6 Ep 15Steve Cooper IN, Dane Murphy IN, Filippo Giraldi IN: 1865 Podcast Special

A rollercoaster week at the City Ground, which started with Forest slumping to the bottom of the table and speculation that both Steve Cooper and Dane Murphy were facing the sack, but ended with a new Sporting Director, but the CEO retaining his position and the Head Coach signing a new contract which ostensibly keeps him at the City Ground until 2025. Rich Ferraro is joined by the Maradona of the Midlands to discuss the ups and downs of the past week, and we dip into the collective wisdom of our podcast crew, with Callum and Tom making radio appearances to discuss the gaffer and Adam sharing his reasons why it was the right thing to do to extend Cooper's stay. We also preview Monday's encounter against Aston Villa, which arguably takes on a new lease of life as the fans show their support for the Reds' gaffer. S6 Ep 14Leicester City 4-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Another painful and humbling night for the Reds, as Steve Cooper's men endured a torrid first half, conceding three goals in quick succession. The second half saw some improvement, but in truth it was difficult to say whether this was real, or just the consequence of the hosts having a commanding lead. Steven Toplis and Tom Newton report after their visit to the King Power Stadium, discussing the game and the speculation over the future of Forest's Head Coach. S6 Ep 13Forest's best XI: The 1865 Nottingham Forest Podcast

As Steve Cooper marks his first anniversary as the Nottingham Forest Head Coach, Rich Ferraro is joined by the Maradona of the Midlands to think about Forest can make the most of their newly-assembled squad. We hear from regular pundits Adam, Baz and Steven with their first choice Reds line-ups, and you might not be surprised to find out what they think about playing a back three. We also have a news round-up from Callum Castel, including some of the speculation about a possible new Sporting Director to work alongside Steve Cooper, and the panel discuss whether that means that Forest are thinking about ways to strategically and practically support the gaffer as Forest adjust to top level football. S6 Ep 12Nottingham Forest 2-3 Fulham: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

The history books will show that, for the second game running, the Reds relinquished a half-time lead, and conceded three second half goals, as well as all three points. In reality, they showed a bit more to offer this time around, although Steve Cooper had to concede that there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of getting the team to gel and maintaining composure. Baz is joined by Tom Newton to discuss the game, team selections, tactics, formations and substitutions. Amongst other key questions, what difference did it make playing with a number nine, did Forest look better with a back four, and how come Lewis O'Brien was so much more effective than both Ryan Yates and Remo Freuler? S6 Ep 11First month back: The 1865 Nottingham Forest Podcast, September 2022

In an episode recorded before the announcement of the Queen's passing, our panel have a deep dive into the Reds' first few weeks back in the big time. It's fair to say that it has been a whirlwind, and results have been a mixed bag; a good win and away point at Everton were counterbalanced by a tough first day at Newcastle, a good performance but defeat against Tottenham, and a really disappointing day at the office against Bournemouth. Steven Toplis leads the discussion, joined by Adam, Baz and Tom Newton; as usual for our monthly discussion, Jeremy Davies also pops in with his regular sketch. With the extended break, hopefully players like Mangala and Niakhate can return to fitness, and the Reds can have some valuable time to gel. We'll bring you a match report after the Fulham game. S6 Ep 10Nottingham Forest 2-3 AFC Bournemouth: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

This one felt far worse than being hit for six by Man City, as the Reds lost the battles on and off the pitch against one of our rivals (at least in terms of possible league positions). With Scott Parker gone, Gary O'Neil showed tactical awareness by changing formations and approach in the second half, and Steve Cooper and his team were simply unable to respond. It had all felt so good at half-time as well, with Brennan Johnson's spot kick adding to Cheikhou Kouyate's header (from a corner!), but Phil Billing's 30 yard rocket swung the momentum back towards the visitors early in the second half, as the Reds lost the physical and tactical battles. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz to discuss the game from a Reds perspective, with a view from the away end coming from Kirk of the Cherries Red Army. We are also joined by Callum Castel-Nuovo with a round up of the Forest news. S6 Ep 9Manchester City 6-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

It was a humbling night for Steve Cooper's Reds at the Etihad, where they were soundly beaten by the world's best coach, best striker, and then they brought the best midfielder off the bench. The key thing here is that City were just too good, but Forest's gaffer admitted afterwards that the away side were naive and there was much to learn. Baz is joined by Tom Newton, fresh back from Manchester, to offer a post-mortem on the game. We also hear from Mike Passaris from the Perth De La Prem podcast, offering the Man City perspective. In an episode recorded before last night's transfer deadline, we also hear some thoughts on the rumours circulating around the City Ground. S6 Ep 8Nottingham Forest 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

It was a disappointing defeat but positive performance from Steve Cooper's men, as the opposition showed what a difference a striker can make. Forest had chances, most notably from Ryan Yates and Neco Williams, but apart from Lewis O'Brien's long-range effort, Hugo Lloris did not have a save to make. On the other hand, Harry Kane had three chances, and although his penalty was well-saved, he was clinical in scoring a brace. Rich Ferraro is joined by the Maradona of the Midlands to discuss team selection, physicality and Richarlison's antics.
