S2 Ep 162Clean Beauty with NakedPoppy CEO, Jaleh Bisharat

Jaleh Bisharat is co-founder and CEO of NakedPoppy, a clean beauty tech start-up that curates the very best in clean beauty brands. She previously served as CMO/VP marketing at Amazon, OpenTable, Upwork and Eventbrite. So, she knows the tech world—and she's bringing it to clean beauty with NakedPoppy's patent-pending, online assessment algorithm that identifies perfect-for-you clean makeup picks. Jaleh speaks and writes on topics of concern to purposeful women. Her writing has appeared in a variety of outlets including Business Insider, Entrepreneur, Fast Company, the Huffington Post, Thrive Global, VentureBeat and Women 2.0. A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School, she's passionate about wellness, sustainability, and clean living. Jaleh didn't realize that her years working in high-level leadership positions learning about how to motivate her employees and teams would prove to be so effective as an entrepreneur starting NakedPoppy. We talked a lot about habits that help you to manage your most powerful asset, your time and attention, as well as why she felt compelled to start a clean beauty company. You'll learn the disturbing information and statistics about women's beauty products and why your dollar and purchases matter. Things We Learned From This Episode Here are some of the core ideas discussed: Managing your attention is the most important thing you can do to move your life and business forward. Do this by taking time before you unplug each night to go through your calendar and time block chunks of time for being in your flow state, meditating, exercising and scheduling a time for you to be productive. Jaleh's motto of 'Just Start' and 'Don't Get Distracted' are so powerful and simple, as well as her brilliant point that "The way you manage your attention is your competitive advantage." When you're starting any kind of business, you want to first start with the question - what problem are we solving? In NakedPoppy's case, Jaleh wanted to give busy women a clean beauty experience that they deserve and love. Clean beauty is to regular beauty products whats organic food is to processed food. We learned that over 12,500 chemicals are used in standard beauty products in the U.S., 7,500 are allowed in the UK and only 700 are allowed in NakedPoppy. Our current traditional beauty products are actually considered hazardous waste for the environment, which should give a clue how unhealthy they are for your skin and body. NakedPoppy hired a green chemist to review all clean beauty items. NakedPoppy's four pillars are health (being the most important), environment, animal welfare, and worker safety. You can take the assessment on NakedPoppy.com and it will give you a perfect match of products for your skin and preference Jaleh is such an inspiring female entrepreneur out to do incredible work to change the way we view and shop for beauty products. I know that I'm convinced it's time to clean out anything that's not a clean beauty product. Hope you'll join me as well. Enjoying the show? S2 Ep 161Jonah Goldman on This Outrageously Delicous Plnt Burger (Part 1: Backstory)

Jonah Goldman is a social entrepreneur, marketing specialist, and environmental activist with a background in the natural food industry, regenerative agriculture, compostable packaging and fighting food waste. Since age 10, Jonah has been a crusader for conscious consumption and ethical eating. After years of passionate arguing against industrial meat and convincing his family and friends to become vegetarian, Jonah studied political science, food policy and food security at Colorado College, while learning firsthand how to affect systemic change on a local and industrial level. Through working with farmers, policy makers and disruptors in the natural food industry, (like Beyond Meat) he came to the conclusion that in order to save the world and ourselves, we must act rapidly to transform global food systems, reclaim health and food sovereignty in our communities, and embrace regenerative agriculture with integrated technology and ecological methods. Jonah recently returned from Israel to help launch a new mission-driven business, PLNT Burger. PLNT Burger is a fast-casual restaurant concept by celebrity Chef Spike Mendelsohn dedicated to crafting and redefining some of America's favorite foods. Spike Mendelsohn is best known in DC for his restaurants (Good Stuff Eatery and We the Pizza) and his numerous television appearances (Top Chef, Iron Chef America, Beat Bobby Flay). He was also the first chairman of DC's Food Policy Council. With a focus on juicy, indulgent burgers, soft-serve, savory snacks and seasonal salads, PLNT Burger's mission is to give people the ability to 'Eat the Change' with delicious foods they love and crave. PLNT Burger offerings are free of any animal products, without compromising flavor, nutrition or experience. Goldman maintains his rebellious spirit and conviction that each person can be an agent of change whether they know it or not. He is a firm believer in business as a force for good, regenerative agriculture and policies that promote food justice, a true sense of food security, and return economic power to people, not corporations. Despite current events, he remains optimistic about the planet's future. These burgers are outrageously delicious. I was just there on Sunday twice, because they are that good. If you are even in the 100 mile radius vicinity of the DC area, I can't recommend PLNT Burger enough. It's crazy good. Things We Learned From This Episode Get in the habit of questioning your habits and what you eat, do and say. Often times we get stuck in behaviors that don't serve our highest good. There are incredible plant based options now, like Beyond Meat, that are made with incredible ingredients and with out GMO's, soy and other additives. We are all like an oak tree that started as an acorn, every one of us has massive potentiality for greatness and for making an impact. Think about how you really want to nourish the seed that is you. The values of PLNT Burger (which also stands for plant, planet and plentiful) are great tenets to live by: Bring people joy, respect and celebrate all of life, act with intention, connect to the source and create positive change together. You can have your burger and eat your plants too. Enjoying the show? That same year he was elected President of the Northeast Regional Roasters Group, in charge of organizing annual retreats for coffee professionals, where he served a term of 3-years.Deciding there wasn't anything he'd rather do, in October 2007 took a leap of faith and started Raus Coffee Company. He spent three years perfecting his roasting process until it met his standards. I found the following key take-aways from our conversation to be highly inspiring, and hope you do too. Things We Learned From This Episode If you're considering a business venture, first learn by doing in someone else's company or venture. You'll learn real time if you really are passionate enough to consider making it a business. Coffee is about taking a real moment to pause, stop, enjoy and savor. Donny adds an intention to all of his roasted coffee and hopes you can feel and sense this positive intention with every sip. A great idea is to create your own intention before drinking your next cup of joe (or tea). We all get to the same destination, but the difference is the journey we take...follow your passion and live out your vision in your one life. Enjoying the show? A sought after media expert, Dr. Shuster's clinical expertise and podcast have been featured in such publications as The Huffington Post, NBCNews.com, Glassdoor.com, Reader's Digest, Men's Health, Cosmopolitan, and others. Dr. Richard shares about how his life-threatening car accident in his twenties lead to a total mind shift and change in outlook that transformed his life, and now thousands of other lives. He shifted his career and after two degrees, decided to focus on how to help others live their most powerful life. We discussed the findings of his doctorate on the impact of social media on one's personality (spoiler alert: it's not good) and how he's laser-focused on being a force for change and wellbeing. Dr. Richard then faced another big scare where his wife almost lost their first son. Their son ended up being born with severe torticollis (this is when a baby has their head turned to one side for an extensive period of time) and had major issues moving his neck and a deformed head and face. Thankfully their medical background assisted in getting the therapies and support they needed, and out of this experience, Dr. Richard birthed the "Every Kid Rocks" foundation in which he raises money to give to teachers and schools that identify children who need therapies like OT, PT, and other sessions but can't afford it. In addition to Dr. Richard's podcast, he has just launched an incredible new assessment called the POWERS, which has already gained much traction. The POWERS instrument, which stands for Prediction Of World Class Excellent Rating Skills has been designed for three realms: 1. human performance 2. PTSD and the Veteran community and 3. Addiction and Recovery. All You-est You listeners can get a free 15-page POWERS assessment and guide at seekyourpowers.com Just use the coupon code: YOUESTYOU (all one word). Things We Learned From This Episode We're preconditioned to feel good when doing good for others. Find ways to help others and be of service as often as you can. Try and focus on what's right and honorable about others rather than where they are falling short. The POWERS assessment is strength-based and highlights your top three superpowers. Social media doesn't have to be bad, but just understand that every time someone 'likes' your post, you are getting a hit to your brain that is just as addictive and similar to smoking a cigarette. S2 Ep 155Learn to Love Yourself Happy with Shari Alyse

Motivated by her own journey through childhood sexual abuse and other childhood traumas, Shari Alyse has spent her life learning how to love herself fully and completely. Shari helps women and men discover their joy by reconnecting them back to themselves through the practice of self-love. Shari is the Best-Selling Author of the book Love Yourself Happy, Motivational Speaker, Self-Love Coach and hosts weekly radio and an online TV show called The J-Spot. She is also the Co-Founder of The Wellness Universe, a community of holistic practitioners, coaches, and thought leaders whose focus is to help create happy, healthy and whole people. The Wellness Universe is the bridge that connects wellness resources to those who are seekers of wellness. Shari lives in Los Angeles with her fiance, John and their cats, Hershey and Piper. You can learn more about Shari at www.ShariAlyse.com and www.TheWellnessUniverse.com Shari shares very bravely and openly about her deep struggles with self-loathing after being sexually abused as a child, and how she has triumphed and rewritten the script to literally love herself happy. We talked about ways to reconnect back to the younger part of you that experienced trauma and how to heal at a deep level. Here are some of the things we discussed: Things We Learned From This Episode Shari found that learning to go within, to get still and to meditate is what really helped her to listen and honor her inner voice. She had always heard it but dismissed it and shoved it down with excess food (I know that drill and guessing some of you do as well). By getting quiet and talking to the little girl within, she started to hear what was really needed; to be loved and appreciated. The most healing aspect that has changed Shari's life is giving herself two big hugs every day, and I mean, big ass wholehearted hugs that you would want from your partner or best friend. She also converses with herself and asks constantly what she needs and then listens. Instead of running from herself and her emotions, Shari now welcomes them all fully and asks how she can support herself more. This act of radical self-love has changed her life, her health and her aim to help others struggling with self-love. You can find Shari's bestselling book, Love Yourself Happy, on amazon. Michael often incorporates philosophies from martial arts study into his work with individuals and organizations. For more information, find Michael at www.arcintegrated.com Most human beings struggle with change, which is why we dove deep into strategies and ways to manage change (in whatever form it comes) in a healthy, effective and productive way. Here are some tips to apply to help you: Things We Learned From This Episode First off, it's crucial to create a space where you are compassionate and kind to yourself while dealing with a change or tough period. As you look at the situation at hand, be sure to be empathetic to yourself. There are seven aspects of change that will help you deal more successfully with turmoil and changes. Michael uses the acronym CHANGES: Cognition, Heart, Action, Nourishment, Guts, Environment, and Spirit. To change beliefs that are getting in the way of accomplishing what you desire, you'll want to do two things: evaluate your belief and how it's showing up in your life (journal and track it) and find examples of ways to disrupt this belief. By tracking your behavior and disrupting your unwanted beliefs, you'll get a clearer picture of what and how you can change. Incorporate the 4 R's to develop greater self-awareness around stress and how your body reacts. The 4 R's are: reaction or response (notice how your body feels when you are in reaction mode versus responding with choice) and resistance and relaxation (what does your body feel like when you're resisting something or when you're most relaxed). Use your body cues to help you learn what triggers you and how to get out ahead. You can get Michael's book as well as a free workbook to go with it and the audio version at www.thechangesbook.com. S2 Ep 153Remodel Your Reality with Kim Fulcher

Kim Fulcher is a seasoned Silicon Valley executive and serial entrepreneur. She's the author of Remodel Your Reality; Seven Steps to Rebalance Your Life and Reclaim Your Passion and the creator of the Get Your Groove Back an on-demand coaching program for women. She speaks professionally about empowerment, engagement, marketing and community culture, and runs a coaching organization that specializes in helping professional women succeed in their careers. A frequent media contributor on wellness and women's issues, her expert advice has been featured in magazines such as Time and Seventeen, and she's a regular blogger for Arianna Huffington's Thrive Global. Kim's twenty-year career history includes experience in education technology, digital media, and community development. She's a recognized expert in customer and employee engagement, social marketing and organic referral programs, and serves as a board member, advisor, and angel investor. Her previous roles include executive marketing leadership for HotChalk; an education technology company, founding Compass; a digital coaching company, and co-founding SkillsVillage; a HCM company (acquired by Oracle). Kim combines her diverse business background with more than 12,000 hours of practical coaching experience to help women solve real problems in practical ways. Kim shared so much wisdom about how to make self care a priority, manage your energy, own your innate power and stand forth as an empowered leader. Here are some of the main take-aways: Things We Learned From This Episode There are three kinds of energy to manage: mental, physical and emotional. We need to remember to listen to our emotions, they are like messengers telling you what's going on. Kim talked about learning to experience and name your emotions like you are surfing in the ocean. You imagine each emotion being a wave to ride, not good or bad, just a wave to surf through. Self-care isn't selfish, it's actually one of the most loving things you can do for yourself and others. Self-care is science because you can't perform at the best level if you're not taking care of your physical wellness. Power is not an outside thing you need to find or get, it lives within you. It's not something we have, it's something we do. Stay tuned for Kim's next book on empowerment, entitled 'Chose Power'. S2 Ep 152Meet the CEO of Life Time, Bahram Akradi

Bahram Akradi founded Life Time, the premier healthy lifestyle brand, in 1992 with a goal of helping people meet their health and wellness goals. Akradi strongly believed that Life Time should serve the member need first, and business success would follow, an idea that at the time, flipped the industry – known for long-term contracts – on its head. Bahram was also just named Minneapolis Business Journal's 2020 Executive of the Year. Now, more than 27 years later, Akradi has evolved Life Time's business beyond its high-end athletic resorts and spas to change the way people live, work and play. Most recently, Life Time announced Akradi's latest innovation with Life Time Living: new, high-end leased residences thoughtfully designed to inspire a holistically healthy lifestyle. Prior to that, Akradi and the Life Time team launched Life Time Work, a premium coworking space that was designed with healthy, balanced lifestyles in mind. Both company extensions continue Bahram's vision to create spaces for healthy living, healthy entertaining and healthy aging. With operations in 39 major markets across 29 states and Canada, Akradi continues to apply his more than 35 years of experience in to transform the health and wellness industry. Akradi noticed the changing retail landscape and formed partnerships with major developers across the nation to transform vacant anchor store fronts into large, mixed-use lifestyle centers that bring thousands of people closer to where they live, work and play each day. As a result, Life Time now has 85-100 projects in its pipeline. And ultimately, a solution that encompasses the full spectrum of daily life for individuals, couples and families of all ages through its Life Time Villages – Life Time Athletic Resort, Life Time Work and Life Time Living. I love interviewing successful entrepreneurs who have created businesses and services that are truly transforming and uplifting humanity. Bahram shares so eloquently about his dedication, commitment and focus to create healthier people and a healthier planet. The wisdom shared were all centered around knowing yourself well; what motivates you and what doesn't and finding ways to utilize your strengths and talents. Here are some of my favorite take-aways: Things We Learned From This Episode A dream with out goals, a focus or a plan, won't lead to your desired result. Conversely, when you string the details, objectives, goals and strategies to your vision, you can end up creating something beyond what you dreamt or envisioned. Building any successful business or operation takes time, grit, flexibility and incredible focus and faith. While Life Time has over 100 million visitors each year today, the company didn't start that way and took many hours and sleepless challenges to become what it is today. Putting your health first allows you to add more nourishment and health to the planet. It starts with yourself first and making sure your health is paramount. Enjoying the show? S2 Ep 151Find Your Inner Rebel: Become Unshakable with Lauren Lee

Lauren is the founder of Inner Rebel Co., a company that helps women develop and strengthen a positive inner voice through meditation and events. She has an extensive professional career in corporate retail, holding roles in e-commerce buying, sales, and business development. She is a certified 200RYT yoga teacher, holds a certificate in meditation from Boise State University and a featured meditation teacher on Insight Timer. You can find Lauren on her website at innerrebel.co, on Instagram or hiking in Boise... We talked a lot on this show about how to listen to your own inner wisdom, which Lauren calls your 'Inner Rebel' and how to start tuning in there for answers. We also discussed how to manifest what you really want and trusting that any heart-centered desire you have is worthy. Lots of excellent thoughts and brilliance here with Lauren. Here's a quick recap for those wanting the overview: Things We Learned From This Episode When faced with a decision or feeling uncertain, tap into your inner council, in other words, that whisper that comes from within that is your Inner Rebel wanting to commune with you about what's best for your highest good. Meditation and stillness is one of the best ways to connect to your Inner Rebel Lauren shares that it all comes down to two questions: Do you trust yourself? (if no, start getting still and going within more so you can begin to develop a deeper relationship with yourself), and Does this feel right? Asking if something feels right, then pausing and waiting to get an answer from your own inner knowing will help you to build your intuition and trust in yourself. Manifesting is about focusing first on what you desire, making sure you're coming from an abundant mindset vs. lack, getting to the why you desire it and then being truly grateful before it happens and manfiests. Everyone is designed to manifest what they want; it's not just for certain people. Enjoying the show? S2 Ep 150Meet Renown Spiritual Teacher and Creator of Soul Matrix Healing, Steve Nobel

Steve Ahnael Nobel is the author of 5 non-fiction books, the most recent is a free Ebook entitled 'Starseeds'. He was a director of a not for profit spiritual organization called Alternatives (based in St. James's Church in Piccadilly, London) for 13 years, leaving on the Winter Solstice of 2012. Subsequently, he began his own healing and awakening work. He has created a healing system called Soul Matrix Healing for Starseeds. He has created a library of free resources including meditations and transmission to help Starseeds which are freely available on his website and YouTube channel. These meditations and transmissions are played all over the world and so far, the platform has around 75K subscribers. He regularly runs events such as webinars and retreats. Find out more at thesoulmatrix.com I have been listening to Steve's meditations on the popular meditation app, Insight Timer, and on YouTube for the past few years. They are definitely spiritual in nature and connect you to the angelic realms in many forms. I had always wanted to learn more about Steve's story and book about being a starseed. We definitely took a deep, deep dive in this conversation. The goal is always to share concepts, ideas and ways of living your best life that inspire you. I hope this discussion adds value to your own personal awareness and consciousness. If you're interested to hear more about Steve's explanation of the different kinds of angels, guides and your higher self, let me know and we'll get him back for conversation #2. Things We Learned From This Episode About 1% of the population today are starseeds, but this number is growing exponentially. Eventually 2 out of 3 people will be a starseed. A starseed is anyone who feels they are highly sensitive, has a sense of not belonging (in their family, community, etc) but belonging on another dimension or planet, might experience divine discontent, and is interested in the spiritual realm. There are thought to be 12 dimensions, earth being the third dimension, or 3D. Steve explained that the 3D world is more about separation consciousness and explains a lot of our suffering and discontent in the world today. As more people awaken in their lives, the energy of our planet will expand and we'll eventually move into the 4D and 5D. The characteristic of 4D is a shift into 'I create my reality', it is the shift of awakening but still dealing with your ego. Ideally we'll move into 5D, which is connected to your heart chakra (chakras represent the energy systems in your body) and is more about 'what would I love to do?' and moving forward in your life with ease. This dimension is about the vibration stabilized in love and light. Enjoying the show? Dr. Jaime Hope is an ER Physician at one of the busiest Level 1 Trauma Centers in the country. As a dual-Board Certified physician and Assistant Professor, she teaches Resilience, Confidence, and Healthy Habit creation and maintenance. She utilized her years of research and teaching about healthy habits to write her first book – Habit That!, which hit #1 Bestseller status in multiple categories on Amazon within 24 hours of release. Dr. Hope is a keynote speaker and invited lecturer across the country on a variety of medical and health related topics. She has done Board Review educational courses, Grand Rounds, podcasts, press conferences, mastermind courses, radio and television appearances in addition to her many live audience sessions. Dr. Hope facilitates corporate retreats, workshops, masterminds and summits to help participants improve productivity, engagement, and decrease absenteeism with healthy habit change, confidence and resilience. This methodology has been used at the United Nations, Facebook, The Cleveland Clinic, Clarke, Fairmont Steel, the United States Diary Industry and more! Dr. Hope recently helped with facilitation of a summit for the United States Army to improve inter-departmental collaboration. You can find out more about Dr. Hope at www.drhopehealth.com. Some important cliff-notes from such a powerful convo: Stress is not a bad thing, it gives you heightened vision, pain tolerance and strength. Decide if you are feeling overly stressed whether you want 'stress hard' release (punching a bag, hitting a pillow, breaking dishes, ligting weights) or 'stress light' release (yoga, oils and scents, low lighting, breathing and meditating, beautiful music). Use stress as your super power because it gives you super powers. There is not a one-size fits all eating plan. Use Dr. Hope's nourishing vs. entertainment philosophy. Eat 70% of food that is nourishing and 30% that is entertaining. Ditch the guilt and shame, and if you're in a binge-like space, go brush your teeth. Rarely will you want more cheetos after having toothaste mint in your mouth. Get rid of the junk food in your mind! Create new labels that you say to yourself, like 'I am a healthy person'. Put the labels on post-its on your mirror, in your car, anywhere you'll be reminded of this. Enjoying the show? Judith Orloff, MD is the New York Times best-selling author of The Empath's Survival Guide: Life Strategies for Sensitive People. Her new book Thriving as an Empath offers daily self-care tools for sensitive people along with its companion The Empath's Empowerment Journal. Dr. Orloff is a psychiatrist, an empath, and is on the UCLA Psychiatric Clinical Faculty. She synthesizes the pearls of traditional medicine with cutting edge knowledge of intuition, energy, and spirituality. Dr. Orloff also specializes in treating highly sensitive, empathic people in her private practice. Dr. Orloff's work has been featured on The Today Show, CNN, Oprah Magazine, the New York Times. Dr. Orloff has spoken at Google-LA and has a popular TEDX talk. Her other books are Emotional Freedom and Guide to Intuitive Healing. Explore more information about her Empath Support Online course and speaking schedule on www.drjudithorloff.com. Empaths are emotional sponges who tend to be wide open, creative, intuitive, big-hearted, deep and have the ability to empathize and feel deeply. In my own recent discovery of being an extroverted empath (more people are typically introverted empaths), I have healed much of my past and addiction with food, people pleasing and taking on other's emotions because of Dr. Orloff's book and strategies. I'm honored to share these with you. Here are some of Dr. Orloff's success strategies for empaths: Watch your symptoms and notice when you feel sensory overload, which might mean sensitivity to light, overwhelm around people and feeling like you're in a bubble. Go to a quiet and dark room, meditate and realign to calm yourself. This is great for anxiety as well. Jump into water - take a bath, a shower, get into the ocean or if none of those are possible options, throw water on your face, wash your hands or drink fresh water. Water is purifying and healing to empaths. Set limits - take a deep breath and set boundaries with others. No is a complete sentence. You can set boundaries with love and in a kind way. Put your hand over your heart and connect to your heart energy. You can find heart meditations on Dr. Orloff's website, on Insight Timer (I have a few up there as do many teachers) or on Youtube. Focus on something beautiful and how much you love it, like the ocean, a waterfall or the beach. Empaths need the energy of love as it is most soothing. The gifts of being an empath: deep empathy openness open-hearted goodness wanting the best for all a feeling of oneness connection to the earth creative lovers poets and artists compassionate highly intuitive Self-care is the most important aspect to respecting yourself as an empath and sensitive person so you can thrive in the world. Check out Dr. Orloff's newest book, Thriving as an Empath, for more practical strategies. Stay in touch about what is working, what you're noticing and your awakening of being an empath. S2 Ep 146Tips from an expert on up leveling your health and energy with Maggie Berghoff

Maggie Berghoff is a functional medicine nurse practitioner-turned-health entrepreneur who owns a luxury health consulting business and optimizes the health of celebrities, performers, athletes, and executives. She guides clients to boost daytime energy and sleep quality, eliminate nagging symptoms, and up-level their daily habits to create a body and mind for peak performance. She is also the creator of a high-level mastermind for health and wellness enthusiasts and clinicians, who are looking to create a profitable virtual health consulting business, in record time. Find out more about Maggie and her amazing services at maggieberghoff.com. Ummmm, all I can say is hoping you listen to this whole interview. Maggie knows her stuff and shared some incredible wisdom about how to manage and have more energy and restore your health. She has personally reversed her autoimmune condition and is now helping so many people to heal. Check out these tips to start implementing now. Things We Learned From This Episode Your body wants to heal. Give it time and enough sleep to do so. More on sleep shortly... Toxins from makeup, food, cleaning supplies, the air you breathe all build up and can add to your body not functioning as well and symptoms like grogginess, exhaustion, bloating, hair loss, etc. Keep it simple with food and choose real food whenever possible. For example, if you can choose between rolled oats or a granola bar, choose the rolled oats. Same goes for apples vs. apple chips or an apple strip. Choose the apple. Alwyas go organic whenever you can. If you're looking to start a business, hire a mentor to show you the ropes. If you are experiencing symptoms like being tired, groggy, bloated and exhausted, do NOT do a detox. The time to do a detox is after you've built up your body's energy and experienced healing (usually 5 - 6 months). Instead, find a functional medical practitioner who can work with you and do a blood test to see what's going on with your body Stay in alignment with the circadian rythym, which is a fancy way of saying that you want to time your sleep with the sun. Rise when the sun is up (not before, if you can help it), get outside right away instead of looking at your phone, get more sun light in the afternoon and before sunset. The sun moosts your melatonin, which helps with sleeping and repair. Enjoying the show? S2 Ep 144David Osborn on How to Create Financial Freedom & Massive Abundance

David Osborn is a New York Times bestseller of Wealth Can't Wait, bestselling co-author of Miracle Morning for Millionaires: What the Wealthy Do Before 8 AM That Will Make You Rich and his 3rd and newest book, A Tribe of Millionaires. He has become a passionate educator, sharing with candor his journey to financial freedom and the well-cultivated methodologies that helped him get there. Today, David has built and is the co-owner of one of the top real estate brokerages in the world with more than 5,000 agents and annual sales volume exceeding $12 billion per year. He has also founded over 50 companies with at least 25 that are ongoing profitable concerns. David's continued success allows him the freedom to pour time into his priorities: being the best father and husband to his wonderful family, giving back to others, and teaching people how to achieve success so they, too, can live a life of abundance. Some of the key take-aways from this conversation was around owning the destiny of your life through being clear of your purpose, focus and goals. David used a great metaphor comparing our lives to ivy. Ivy will grow where ever it is placed. You can either put it on a side of a house and watch it grow beautifully or it can grow all over the place without aim or intention. Our lives are the same; envisioning your destiny and best possible future will ensure the ivy to grow in a way you desire. Things We Learned From This Episode Own your life and who you are School doesn't end after high school or college, it's a continuous learning opportunity Let go of attachment of your identity and parts of you that don't serve any more Be ware of the influence effect, in other words, who you hang around most will influence your life, career and success. Connect and hang around people who are up to extraordinary things and watch how your own life shifts in a positive way. Find mentors whom you can learn from and connect with. S2 Ep 143The Secrets to Thriving and Making An Impact with Tucker Wannamaker

Meet Tucker Wannamaker, co-founder of THRIVE IMPACT. Every nonprofit and its leader deserves to THRIVE as individuals, personally and professionally, so they can have the IMPACT our communities need from them. That's why Tucker is focused on helping nonprofit leaders energize their revenue, staff, boards, and stories through intensive coaching, experiential learning, fresh strategies, and the culture and mindset change needed to make it happen. Over the last 15 years, Tucker has been in a variety of mission-driven leadership roles including building an award-winning nonprofit marketing agency (that he sold), leading fundraising campaigns that brought millions in the door, years as an outside strategic revenue and change-management coach for nonprofits, and leading a start-up nonprofit through a challenging season of accelerated growth and onward to sustainability. A little more about this big-hearted entrepreneur...Tucker rides an old 1980 Vespa. He has four kids that are radical and loves taking them on bike rides and hikes (it's the native Colorado in him), along with seeing awesome museums in the District. THE BEST part of this is that his wife of15 years is into all of this and gets more lovely every year. #notevenjoking Quote that inspires Tucker: "If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery There were so many nuggets of goodness in this convo with Tucker about how to thrive and make an impact in the world. Lots of focus on choosing your own reality and way of looking at life. Things We Learned From This Episode Use extreme ownership - - - you can either 'have to do something' or 'choose to do something'. When you're in choice, you feel empowered, otherwise, you'll revert to a victim mentality. In truth, we always have a choice in how we want to respond and react. Passion is currency. Find causes and areas you are passionate about and find ways to give, serve and add value. Change your paradigm story and your beliefs, thoughts, and reality will change. S2 Ep 142Magnify Your Miracles with Master Intuitive Healer, Rev. Frances Fayden

Rev. Frances Fayden is an Interfaith Minister and founder of Magnify Your Miracle. A master intuitive healer and spiritual counselor, Frances is fluent in the language of the human energy field known as the chakra system and can quickly translate energetic information to help her clients heal & transform. In 2012, Frances had a profound encounter with Mother Mary, which changed the direction of her life and awakened her life purpose. She has been channeling messages from Mother Mary ever since. She loves working with Highly Sensitive & Highly Creative Spiritual Women who have a big vision and mission yet are seeking validation and personal guidance with their next steps. Frances says "By incorporating Mother Mary's guidance along with feedback from your own energy field, and then applying the Universal Laws of Manifestation, miracles can occur." She is the author of the books Meditation is Friendship with God and How to Recognize God. Her passion is connecting people to the unconditional love of the Divine, and then teach them how to magnify that connection, which is the key to Magnifying Your Miracle. You can find Rev. Frances at FrancesFayden.com or MagnifyYourMiracle.com. I have had the blessing of both working with Rev. Frances as an intuitive healer (which is beyond mind-blowing), participating in her tele-classes and community calls to call in the Divine Feminine energy and have been in a mastermind community of entrepreneurial healers. While she invokes the presence of Mother Mary, it is truly a Universal divine frequency of love. For some, it might be Mother Mary, Divine Mother, Divine Feminine, Spirit, Higher Self, the Universe or Oneness...or whatever name you might use. We go deep into the land of spiritual connection, how to tap into your own intuition and find support from the other side (however you define that) and emotional healing. If this sparks interest, I highly recommend starting with Rev. Frances's Insight session to experience this yourself and feel the effects of her emotional healing work. She has helped me to heal so much of my own emotional energy and body. Things We Learned From This Episode We all are wired to have intuition and we're all wired differently. To find out how you're wired, ask yourself questions such as 'What am I seeing?' 'What am I hearing?' 'What am I feeling?'. Some of us are wired to hear inner wisdom, others get a visual or picture in your mind's eye and some of you feel your intuition in your gut or through goosebumps. It's about the practice and spending time cultivating this deeper listening. There are spiritual Laws of the Universe that greatly assist you in manifesting what you want. In addition to the Law of Attraction, there is the Law of Vibration (your energy will attract similar energy) and the Law of Cause and Effect, for example. All are powerful in understanding and working with to magnify your miracles. Enjoying the show? Mike's book Profit First is used in over 150,000 companies. It's a must-read for any entrepreneur or anyone who is looking to be savvier with finances. Let me just say two things with this episode: We get into a bit of swearing, humor and past lives. You might want your ear pods on for this one. Mike is one of the funnier guests I've spoken with. Jessica Braider is a certified health coach and mother of two active and playful boys. As the CEO of The Scramble, an online meal planning service committed to helping busy people get quick, easy, and delicious meals on the table every night, she fulfills her passion for food and her love for working with parents and children to build healthy and happy families. She believes that Food is one of the most powerful tools for building connections. She is committed to the idea that food should be savored, enjoyed, and shared, rather than restricted, avoided, or argued over. Jessica received her training as a health coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She also holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan and a bachelors in Political Science from Haverford College. In her downtime, you can find Jessica in the kitchen experimenting with recipes or outside enjoying time with her husband and kids. You can find Jessica at thescramble.com. We talked a lot about the importance of sharing communal meals, reframing both food as nourishment and how to eat, and how to deal with picky eaters. Things We Learned From This Episode If you have a family and/or children, it's ideal to serve everything family style. This allows for your children to feel empowered. It gives them their power back. With children, they crave sweet. If they are averse to vegetables, try roasting them for example, since they will by nature be sweeter Reframe eating and family meals to be a place of deep connection, time to be present and hear what's going on in day to day life. We talked about the many different diets and ways of eating. Jessica referred to the concept of bio indivdiuality, which means that each person has their own genetic make up and needs, pallete, food sensitivites and preferences. There is no one size fits all with regards to ways of eating. Learn to tune into your body and what it craves and desires. S2 Ep 138How to Heal Yourself with Amy Scher

Amy B. Scher is an energy therapist, expert in mind-body healing, and the bestselling author of How to Heal Yourself from Anxiety, How to Heal Yourself When No One Else Can, and This Is How I Save My Life. Amy is often lovingly referred to as an "accidental guru." She uses energy therapy techniques to help those experiencing emotional and physical challenges to move on and heal permanently and completely. Amy has been featured in The Times of India, CNN, The Huffington Post, CBS, The Washington Post, Cosmopolitan, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Curve Magazine, The Rumpus, and the San Francisco Book Review. Scher was also named one of Advocate's "40 Under 40." Amy's inspirational story, down-to-earth approach to healing and accessible teaching style has been well received by a variety of audiences. Amy's books have been translated into ten languages and endorsed by notable authors such as Elizabeth Gilbert, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Eat, Pray Love; Vikas Swarup, New York Times bestselling author of Slumdog Millionaire; Pam Grout, #1 New York Times bestselling author of E-2; Sanjiva Chopra, MD, MACP, Harvard Medical School and author of Brotherhood with Deepak Chopra. She lives in NYC with her beautiful wife and two bad cats. Most importantly, she lives by her self-created motto: When life kicks your ass, kick-back. You can find Amy at amybscher.com and on Youtube (Amy B. Scher) and social media (with her name). This. was. such. a. powerful. convo. Wow! This is one of my favorite topics because it highlights that we all have the power to heal from within. Amy laughs now about spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on healing her extensive illness from Lyme's disease, only to realize that she had the key to unlock her own healing from within, the whole time. It reminds me of the quote from the Wizard of Oz by Glinda the Good Witch, "You've always had the power, my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself." Things We Learned From This Episode Suppressing emotions and thoughts can take a real toll on your physical body. This is the kind of stress that can wreak havoc on our immune system, glands, organs and nerves. Beliefs like "I'm not good enough", "I need to make others happy" or "It's not a safe world", for example, can have real negative effects on your health and wellbeing. The first step to heal yourself is to become aware of your truth, meaning look to see where you are not being authentically yourself or holding back, stuck or feeling not good enough. Next in the process is see the root of these stuck emotions that have effected your health and to be open and willing to clear the root of the issue. Third is using techniques Amy shares on the interview and in her books: EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) aka Tapping, the Sweep Technique (she provides you with a script to release old beliefs in the subconscious) and Thymus tapping (your thymus is behind your breast bone and is super important to your immunity). Our bodies can repair and heal itself and the inner power we have to create our own healing is incredible! These techniques saved and changed Amy's life. Amy's powerful wisdom at the end is to be willing to evolve as a human being, in other words, allow yourself to change, grow, shift and release what's not serving you. It's easy to get stuck thinking you need to be a certain way. Getting stuck can lead to living in an inauthentic way for you. Give yourself space to continuously rediscover yourself and be fluid enough to be ok with changing (minus the judgment). Enjoying the show? S2 Ep 137Lady Up, And Don't Quit! with Diane Michel

Diane Michel is originally from Atlanta, Nashville has been her home for 18 years. She has spent most of her career as a Business Consultant and she had the privilege of helping revitalize, launch, or scale hundreds of businesses across multiple industries. Early on, in her field, she was not allowed to be feminine. Diane was told to cut her hair, wear very little makeup, stud earrings, dark pantsuits, etc. She was allergic to that on every level, but it was the way things were done in the '90s. In the mid-2000s, when she opened her own firm, she was intentional about just being "herself". It worked out and she found that her clients loved her authenticity and transparency. Diane noticed a big gap in women-centric, non-masculine leadership training. In 2017, she opened my new consulting business to focus solely on women. In 2018, she expanded my company by teaming with her bestie to create the "Lady Like Leaders" women's symposiums, which have now evolved into multi-layered training programs. She has been very active, politically, the last couple of years. She heard her inner voice calling her for public service and Diane is now an official candidate on the ballot for TN State Senate in 2020. Things We Learned From This Episode Listen to the whisper within and do it afraid! There's a deeper purpose for you. Tap into creativity to access your feelings and emotions. We are often starving from this connection. It's not about work-life balance, it's about work-life harmony. Balance doesn't exist but harmony can. If there are little ones around, you might want your earbuds. Ladies and men, you are going to get soooo much out of this conversation. Allana is an intimacy expert at reconnecting to your own heart and learning how to move through past trauma and upset, to truly be able to connect and find the relationship of your dreams (starting with you). She talks about the concept of befriending your 'little you' and goes into the science behind healing trauma and what you triggers you most. You'll also learn how to open (and close, if necessary) your heart and find the intimacy you're seeking (which always starts with yourself). Things We Learned From This Episode Decide you are willing to go inside and come home to yourself to become your own best friend. It was there that Allana found the ability to unconditionally love her self (which she calls your 'little you') and unlock the door to true connection to the divine and so much more. What you resist, persists. We are meant to move through emotions and use them as guides and tools. Everything is an opportunity to stay open-hearted and to choose being present to both sides of the moment; which can be bliss and fear. In order to truly heal a past trauma or trigger, you must integrate and embody all 4 of these aspects: image, thought, body sensation and emotions. Focusing on only one or a few of these, for example, just talking about your emotions or creating a vision board, will not create the full healing you're seeking. Focusing on what you don't want, locks it in and grows it. You want to choose from nothing and let go of resistance and attachment (this is one I'm always working on). You can learn more about the emotional scale and code by Dr. David Hawkins at discoveryhealing.com (mentioned in the interview). Enjoying the show? S2 Ep 135Meet the CEO of Mompire, Ashley Meyer

Ashley was born with a fire in her spirit that shows up in everything she does (including her curly red hair!). She spent years building her legal career, and when it came time to have children she was eager to find a community of moms she could relate to. But what she found didn't quite work for her. She felt out of place when her worlds of work and life couldn't coexist. Desperately searching for a space to be fully "her," she came up empty-handed. So, she drew on that fiery passion and created Mommies Hiring Mommies, rebranded as Mompire, which is a community all about, and for, moms doing it all! You can find out more about this heart-centered emotionally based community at the-mompire.com. Ashley shares some excellent nuggets of wisdom in this episode. One of the things I noticed right away was how heart-centered she is in all that she has created. This is not often the case for former lawyers and many of us who are taught to favor our logical left side thinking brain. Things We Learned From This Episode If you are going to start a business, make sure you are offering tangible value before you start charging. Sometimes it might be a passion project, and that is perfectly ok. Mommies Hiring Mommies started as a labor of love and continued that way for 3 years before making it into a profitable venture. The most important thing you can do is to tune into your heart and make sure whatever it is you are doing, or service you're providing is one that you feel passionate and on fire about. This will translate well and authentically in all that you do. Above logic, start with how you feel. Go to your heart before your head to find out what is most important to you. There is no such thing as work-life balance or balance for that matter. After Ashley struggled with an intense diagnosis of Adrenal Fatigue, she realized that the best way to recover was to create the categories of her life and rate her satisfaction on a scale of 1 - 10. After reviewing that list, she chose the most important area to work on. This happened to be her sleep. As she became more rested, all else fell into place. As a result, she has created a journal that can help guide you to rate and focus on key areas of life. (can I just say, this is brilliant!) Enjoying the show? She has inspired hundreds of people on stages all over the world for clients including Robinhood, Prana, MGM Law, and The Happiness Planner. Things We Learned From This Episode When you are caught up in your limiting thoughts and fears it's like tapping on the break and gas pedal at the same time...it will keep you stuck where you are. The brain has to make between 20,000 - 30,000 decisions a day, only 10% of those are conscious and the rest are unconscious. Metacognition (which is the ability to observe your own thinking) is the golden ticket to changing your subconscious. Great quote to remember, "Don't believe in miracles, rely on them." Pat is the bestselling author of Let Go, Will It Fly and most recent book, Super Fans: The Easy Way to Stand Out, Grow Your Tribe and Build a Successful Business. You can find a lot more about Pat and all of his amazing courses, podcast, and books at PattFlynn.com and SmartPassiveIncome.com. He has been a mentor and guide along my journey and I had the blessing of connecting with Pat at Hal Elrod's Best Year Ever Blueprint conference in 2017 and at the Illuminate Film Festival in 2018. What I loved right away, and feel this came through in our conversation is his authenticity, desire to serve and make a real impact and humility. We talked a lot about how to build your business, or even a side hustle or gig, with a focus on genuine connection, relationship building and being heart-centered. Things We Learned From This Episode Focus on building real relationships where you are authentically curious about how to help with their pain points, whatever they may be. If you have a full time or side hustle, you don't need a huge email list or following. Nurture and care deeply for those who are your true fans. Read and review Kevin Kelly's article, 1000 True Fans and Pat's book, Super Fans. Let go of who you think you're supposed to be. Most importantly, don't try to impress others or worry if there is a 'hater' or two, be yourself and fully commit to being yourself, and you will attract those who you can most serve. I'm so excited to introduce you to Pat and highly recommend his newest book, Super Fans. Let Pat and I know what you think and how it's impacting your life. S2 Ep 130Meet the CEO of Insight Timer, #1 Meditation App, Christopher Plowman

Christopher Plowman, is the CEO of Insight Timer, the world's #1 free meditation app where more time is spent meditating than all other meditation apps. Insight Timer is the home to more than 8,000,000 meditators. Four years ago, Christopher's brother, Nicho, quit the corporate world to become a meditation teacher, & in 2014, they decided to merge experiences by launching a meditation company. Insight Timer has guided meditations and talks led by the world's top meditation and mindfulness experts, neuroscientists, psychologists and teachers from Stanford, Harvard, the University of Oxford and more. There are music tracks from world-renowned artists. You can join millions learning to meditate on Insight Timer to help calm your mind, reduce anxiety, manage stress, sleep deeply and improve happiness. Christopher believes meditation is slowly (but surely) becoming mainstream, not just in Silicon Valley, but in regional communities all around the world. Insight Timer changed my life and health by learning to slow down and fall in love with meditation, and I am gratefully one of the teachers on the app. Christopher talks very openly, authentically and vulnerably about his ambition to lead consciously (providing free meditations to everyone) and following through commercially. I know you'll be incredibly inspired by his commitment to keep this app as a resource available to anyone and goal to grow Insight Timer to a community of 100 million meditating users. There are meditations from 37 different religions and spiritual communities, and in 47 different languages. Things We Learned From This Episode Christopher talked about his belief in this consciously focused business model and the faith he's putting in the universe to grow the community of meditators. There are many other meditation apps that charge fees and won't allow for spirituality and religious focused meditations. Insight Timer is all about growing its community from a place of as much diversity as possible. Insight Timer is paving the way to a new paradigm for businesses to be consciously focused first and is all about the power of inclusion, diversity, and community. I'd love to see other companies and corporations follow suit. Meditation is essential and something for everyone to try. Even though Christopher talked openly about it being challenging sometimes, it has helped to round out the corners of his edges and have more focus and presence. Insight Timer is a meditation buffet full to the brim with an enormous variety of music, meditations, talks, courses, and truly something for everyone. Check out the app Insight Timer on your phone or go to insighttimer.com. I can't recommend this app enough. When I was struggling with my health and thyroid disease, Insight Timer helped me to get more calm, peaceful and begin a practice that has changed my life. There are many amazing meditatinos to try. S2 Ep 129Wisdom from an International Authority on Mindset & Peak Performance, Rod Hairston

Rod E. Hairston is an author, former master trainer with Tony Robbins and an international authority in mindset, peak performance, behavioral conditioning, leadership, and organizational culture. Rod has coached Forbes 400 executives, elite professional athletes, and industry-leading organizations such as Disney, ABC, Quicken Loans, and Honeywell. As a compelling keynote speaker and the CEO of Trusum Visions, LLC and its global enterprises, Rod and his team continue to impact individuals and organizations around the world to achieve effective, lasting results. We went into the deep end of the pool in this conversation. Hoping you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed interviewing Rod. Things We Learned From This Episode Be committed to chip away at your conditioning and personal growth so you can tap into your gifts. Everyone has gifts intended to serve your divine purpose. Look at everyone with the intention of finding something powerful, amazing or beautiful in them. Train yourself to see this in others, and thus in yourself. Before making any change or transformation, you must first accept every aspect of yourself; especially the areas, patterns and conditioning that you want to let go of. Remember that everything you have experienced is part of your growth, and ultimately serves your highest good. If you could boil life down into two commandments, it would be to love and grow. Both lead to ultimate joy, fulfillment and deep connection to yourself and others. Do something daily and as often as possible to take risks and step out of your comfort zone so you can create a version of yourself that wouldn't be found in your former zone of comfort. S2 Ep 127Part II: Jon Berghoff on Unlocking Your Strengths and Group Genius

Jon Berghoff is the founder of the Flourishing Leadership Institute. Jon leads a global team of coaches and facilitators who are working to solve what many would consider to be one of the most significant opportunities of our time. It's the opportunity to unlock the collective intelligence, the group genius, in our organizations and in our communities, in a way that not only creates necessary healing in the world but ultimately the kind of exponential changes that we must figure out how to deliver. Just to give an example, in the last 12 months alone, this method has been brought in with companies like BMW, Nike, Facebook and soon to be used with the top trainers at Keller Williams, which has been recognized as the top training company in the world. Jon has become a leader of leaders. Jon is also known for developing the xChange Methodology, an approach to teaching leaders the practices of design and facilitation for unlocking intellectual, social and communal capital across diverse groups. Twice annually, a growing community of 250+ xChange Certified leaders come together for shared learning, storytelling, and collectively designing the practices being called upon by leaders of the future. I have done the xChange certification and it is incredibly powerful both for the amazing community, guidance, mentorship and learning how to facilitate and extract the collective genius from groups, teams, and companies. Jon also gratefully wrote the bonus chapter in my book, Get a PhD in YOU: Business Edition, which explains this work in beautiful detail. Check out more about Jon and FLI at lead2flourish.com and xChange at lead2flourish.com/training. If you want to connect further with Jon, he graciously gave his email: [email protected]. WATCH EPISODE HERE Jon has become a very special mentor, guide, coach and dear friend to me. You'll be blown away by the work he's doing all over the world around creating a more human connection, healing, purpose and collective wisdom derived from strengths and deep listening. Because there was so much to talk about (trust me, friends, we could have kept going for another hour), we split the interview into two parts. You won't want to miss a minute as he shares tons of incredible resources, ways to create deeper awareness and presence within yourself and how to do this at the larger level of the whole. Things You'll Learn From This Episode The question we are always asking ourself in any situation is 'can I be myself right now and still fit in'. It is crucial to know that since we're all asking this, and that the remedy is creating psychological safety. The way to do this: It starts with yourself and you need a great awareness of yourself Human connection, which means asking questions and listening with attention and intention, otherwise known as deep listening. Deep listening is about being fully present with the other person, unattached to be right or the outcome and allowing yourself to see through the eyes and heart of that person. When your why is strong enough, the how will figure itself out. Change the way you look at purpose - instead of being a noun or thing, look at it as a verb. In other words, how am I purposing myself? How can I use my pain or past challenges as a source of purpose? The principles to reveal and design our best: Our work is based on our greatest source of change, which is done through changing the conversation. Speed of curiosity - change the questions we ask Strength of nature - everything grows towards the sun and that which gives it life. Asking life-giving questions becomes the source of nourishment, flourishing and thriving. Design questions to make others to come alive. In sum, a system is in plain English, a group of people. Whether it's your family system, work or business system, spiritual community or other systems you are part of, remember that just like nature; full thriving happens when we leverage our diversity, not our sameness. WATCH THE EPISODE HERE Jon has become a very special mentor, guide, coach and dear friend to me. S2 Ep 124Dr. Suvrat Bhargave on Uproot shame and anxiety with this tool

Dr. Suvrat Bhargave is a renowned and respected educator, speaker, and board-certified psychiatrist, specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry. His uncanny ability to relate to a multi-demographic audience has allowed his practice to reach an unparalleled level of success based on empathy, education, and empowerment. Affectionately known for his "relatable expertise", Dr. Bhargave is highly sought after to lecture locally and nationally on a broad range of topics pertaining to personal growth, effective parenting, relationship satisfaction, and mental health conditions. After completing his residency training and specialty fellowship from Duke University, Dr. B (as he is lovingly called by his patients) continued his practice in hospitals, community health, and private practice settings. Throughout the years, he has been most inspired by the impact his caring nature, education, and treatment has had on others to facilitate change and to experience fulfillment through gradual but dynamic moments of "insight and awareness". A passionate advocate for healing and empowerment, Dr. B is compelled to bring a world of change to each person one moment at a time. He is the author of 'A Moment of Insight'. You can find Dr. B at www.amomentofinsight.com. We all struggle with the same dilemmas. We all question life's purpose. We all feel overwhelmed. We all doubted our worthiness. While A Moment of Insight shines the spotlight on our collective wounds, it also dispenses the collective wisdom of thousands of seekers who dared to be vulnerable within the safe space of a psychiatrist's office. Through patient stories and personal accounts, this recollection takes the reader on a journey to calm the mind, fortify the spirit, and release the burdens of life. Each chapter offers practical strategies and thought-provoking narratives to not only understand and persevere through challenging dilemmas but to see a greater purpose in these times. At the beginning of every journey is the moment that incites change…a Moment of Insight. Things You'll Learn From This Episode Find your 5 gifts! Give yourself a deadline and make it a fun discovery where you can uncover the gifts that have always been there. Once identified, test them out on difficult days to see that these are part of your identity. Your identified gifts act as a way to switch your filter from 'not good enough' to feeling good about who you are. Treat yourself as you would treat others, i.e. start speaking kindly to yourself and notice when you're not. The root of anxiety is doubt and shame. Learning to focus on what you're grateful for during anxious times can uproot the past shame and give yourself the space to plant new seeds of hope and inner peace. Make a decision to use at least one of your gifts every day and watch what happens. You can continue the conversation with Dr. B on Facebook @amomentofinsight and www.amomentofinsight.com. S2 Ep 123Did You Know Yoga Can Heal Your Body? with Dr. Steffany Moonaz

Dr. Steffany Moonaz is a yoga therapist and researcher in Baltimore, MD and serves as Director of Clinical and Academic Research at the Maryland University of Integrative Health. She became curious about the importance of mind-body activities at a young age and has always had a passion and a curiosity about the healing power of mindful movement. She completed undergraduate work in biology and dance at Oberlin College, earned a MFA from University of Maryland as well as a CMA from the Laban Institute and spent eight years at Johns Hopkins University, helping to develop and evaluate a yoga program for individuals with the chronic diseases of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, which became the basis for her PhD in public health. Along with ongoing research collaborations at the National Institutes of Health, Einstein, Sinai and Montefiore Hospitals in New York, and University of Maryland, Dr. Moonaz is working to bring yoga to people with arthritis in communities around the country, as well as educating yoga teachers and yoga therapists about the unique needs of this population. She currently leads Yoga for Arthritis teacher training programs nationwide and serves as a mentor for several emerging researchers who are working to study the effects of yoga for various health conditions. Dr. Moonaz's work has been covered by Time, HuffPost, the Baltimore Sun, and U.S. News and World Report. She has been invited to speak at Emory University, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Johns Hopkins Palliative Care, and the Smithsonian. Her Arthritis-Friendly Yoga DVD, produced by the Arthritis Foundation, has been their best-selling product since its release in 2013. Her book, Yoga Therapy for Arthritis: A whole-person approach to movement and lifestyle is now available on Amazon, other bookstores and on Steffany's website: www.arthritis.yoga. Things You'll Learn From This Episode Yoga is not just about your practice on the mat. The word yoga means union and it is about a state of being where you are present, awake and aware. Practicing yoga can expand to how you're nourishing your body, getting enough rest, thoughts you are allowing in as well as the actual physical yoga movements. Studies and research shows that having a yoga practice on the mat can positively affect your health, how you view your health (and if you have a disease) and you're the overall quality of life. Take your health into your own hands and become your best advocate. A way to do this is to form a care team, which might include finding a Functional Medical Doctor, as well as other integrative healing practitioners who can help support your wellbeing. It's important to know good, reliable sources of medical information, especially as it relates to autoimmune conditions like arthritis. Major universities like Harvard, Berkley, and Stanford have Public Health resources to check out. WebMD is a decent source, as is MindBodyGreen (one of my faves) Yoga not only effects your physical health as well as mobility, balance, flexibility, and strength but it also affects your nervous system. Pain is registered in the nervous system from the brain to whatever area of your body expeirences pain. Yoga helps to tamper your nervous system to feel less pain and stress. Enjoying the show? Katie is a thirty-something mom of three living in Atlanta. She started her popular blog in 2015 as a platform to share new perspectives and to build community. In 2016 her open letter to critics of her daughter's facial deformity went viral. This emotional piece reached audiences all over the world by way of Good Morning America, CNN, Inside Edition, and more. In 2019 she took her love for the human experience to new heights and launched a podcast, If I'm Being Honest with Katie Crenshaw. Her mission continues to be a voice for the voiceless by humanizing marginalized lifestyles and experiences. You can find more about Katie and her amazing articles at katiecrenshaw.com. She unapologetically speaks her truth, colors outside the lines, believes in taking risks, and advocates for vulnerability. Katie maintains her unique voice with a consistent undercurrent of humor and authenticity. Her work has been featured in large publications such as Good Housekeeping, Redbook, and Cosmopolitan. She is an active content creator for Scary Mommy and The Huffington Post. What I love about Katie is how darn real and vulnerable she is. We talked a lot about changing the body positivity game for women and how her post-partum photo reached across the US and beyond. Things You'll Learn From This Episode People can't hurt you with your truth. When it's your truth, own it and don't worry what others think. On living your most badass life, Katie thinks about what people would say at her funeral and reverse engineers from there. This helps her to take action even when uncomfortable or afraid. For those of us who have struggled with body image issues - focus on what your body does, not how it looks. You can join the incredible tribe of women sharing photos, as she said from naked to Burkas, sharing what your body has done for you at #herbodycan Make sure you have a supportive network with a real connection The best way to feel good is to elevate others. S2 Ep 120The Loud Blonde on Owning Your Voice with Kelly Cochran

Kelly Cochran is the unapologetic writer, speaker, and CEO of Loud Blonde, a marketing company helping female entrepreneurs bring bold businesses to life online. Kelly is passionate about encouraging women to listen to their instincts and speak their truth at the highest volume. Her hold-no-punches attitude sheds refreshing light on subjects most women are dying to—but too fearful to—talk about. Kelly is the author of LOUD: Silence Your Critics & Turn Up the Volume on Your Life, a hilarious self-help book for any woman dying to ditch the doubt and tune into her own boldest inner voice once and for all. Learn more about Kelly and download a free chapter of her book at loudblonde.com/book What I loved about this conversation is the focus on seeing your 'weaknesses', in Kelly's case being loud and getting fired from past jobs, as an asset. She turned it around and saw that her loud voice could be used to help other women to uncover their own voice. She got ok with getting out of the box, drawing outside of the lines and embracing how she was wired. Our intention is for you to do the same in your life. Here are some key take-aways which I hope inspire and uplift you: Ways to tune into your inner voice is to get quiet. This can be tough when we are always rushing and busy. Whether it's meditating or taking a walk, make sure to get time daily to really pause and be still. You can't hear your voice amidst all the other noise. When you're overly busy, look at the why underneath...are you trying to not deal with something or keep busy to avoid an emotion or feeling? Be on the look out for using busy to cope with life. Journaling, as well as doodling and drawing, are great ways to allow your subconscious to play and connect with you. Rather than journaling with a question, just sit back and see what comes up. "Lean into your wiring. It's time to blaze your own trail. You're not broken, you've just got to fully embrace and accept your distinct and unique wiring." S2 Ep 119Learn How to Heal Through Movement with Femme! Creator, Bernadette Pleasant

Intoxicating and energetic, Bernadette Pleasant is a fiery sensual Speaker, Somatic Healer, and Creator of Femme!, a mind-body wellness program. She has spent a lifetime exploring creative visualizations and celebrations of the human form, from sensual dance to somatic healing. A gifted healer, dancer, and entrepreneur, she channels her personal journeys and her radical empathy into transformative, immersive experiences that empower and celebrate people of all genders, ages, sizes, and fitness levels. Bernadette travels globally empowering all through classes, private workshops, retreats and conference engagements. With certifications in the Nia Technique, Nia 5 Stages, Ageless Grace, Pole Dance, Somatic Healing, Reiki, and Integrated Energy Therapy—and studies in African, Tribal, and Free Dance—Bernadette Pleasant promotes emotional freedom through movement and empowerment. As an experienced entrepreneur and the founder of Femme!, Bernadette Pleasant regularly leads discussions on emotional healing, inclusive movement, and empowerment for all. Her authenticity, charisma, and warmth allow her to empathize with and inspire those ready for a journey of emotional exploration and affirmation. Intuitive and engaging, Bernadette Pleasant is a vibrant, sensual speaker who connects with those who have been silenced and shut down to support their physical, emotional, and healing journeys—whether in a classroom, from a podium, or one-on-one. Bernadette is also a woman of color who comes from a long line of natural healers who have used touch and movement to help others find peace, empowerment, and wellness. Her classrooms welcome without judgment and support participants' paths to finding comfort in their own skin. In the Femme! Experience, Bernadette creates a safe space for all ages, backgrounds, body types and dance skills to explore their sensual selves. Everyone is empowered to fully embrace and embody all of their emotions and fully express them through movement; joy, sorrow, rage, ecstasy and more are all welcome at Femme!. In Femme! everyone is infused with the affirmation, "It's your body; you can do whatever you want with it-including love it unapologetically!" I attended a Femme! workshop in Baltimore and it was incredibly healing on a cellular level. I can't recommend this kind of movement healing modality enough...she is the real deal! Things You'll Learn From This Episode Emotions are like weather, nothing is good or bad, just is. Allow yourself to prepare for your emotions like you would for a storm, hot day or snowfall. Your body is meant to move and process all emotions. We are emotional beings and are often too stuck in our head. Emotions don't live in your head, they take space in your physical body. Give yourself time and room to move and process all emotions. If you're new to processing and moving through emotions, start with baby steps like standing in front of a mirror and allowing yourself to move, connect to your eyes and body and see how your body likes to flow. Find drumming or a primal beat to move to and feel the healing with each movement. Animals shake off excess energy after they encounter a near-death experience (ex, if a Gazelle is chased by a Lion, it would need to shake off afterwards). We are the same in that we process stress and often don't make time to shake it off. Like the song, you literally want to give yourself space to 'shake it out and off'. It helps to reset your nervous system. S2 Ep 118Samantha Moultrup on Being a Psychic Medium

Samantha Moultrup is a mom of two, entrepreneur and psychic intuitive. She is able to access higher consciousness to deliver messages, guidance and empowering information. You can learn more about Samantha and dive deeper with her at: www.thesoultherapist.com or in her Facebook group @thesoultherapist where she does impromptu readings, shares inspirational messages and connects. Ok, my friends, this is one of my favorite topics to explore and in this convo, we go pretty darn deep. Hope you enjoy, and feel free to reach out to Sam with any Q's or thoughts after listening. Things You'll Learn From This Episode Every one of us has intuition and the ability to cultivate it. We'll get into ways to do this. One of the first things you can do is to start tuning in to your gut feelings. Notice when you have one, where you feel it, what you are hearing or sensing and take note of what happened when you listened (or didn't listen). Other ways to cultivate your intuition: start to ask your guides (angels, higher consciousness or whatever you call this team of support) for little things. Sam talked about asking for a parking spot near the shopping carts so it was easier with her children. Start with small asks. Share your experiences with safe and trusted friends, and keep a journal where you can write down what's happening, your feelings and experiences and any signs or symbols you're noticing. Journaling allows you to go back and review what has happened. We are all made of energy and energy is contagious (whether it's positive or negative energy). You will attract the same energy that you are emitting. The more time you take to take care of your self and your wellbeing, the more you'll be able to access your gifts, talents, and intuition. *Share what you are struggling with or looking to transform with Julie at [email protected]. This experience changed her life, and today she now lives out of her comfort zone and taking on fear with excitement and unabashed readiness. You are going to be so inspired by Asha's wisdom and candid sharing. S2 Ep 116Meet JJ Virgin, the Celebrity Nutrition Expert and Fitness Hall of Famer on Taking Back Your Health

"Being healthy is not just for you or about you, get into a bigger mission and take charge of your health so you have more to give." ~ JJ Virgin Celebrity nutrition expert and Fitness Hall of Famer JJ Virgin teaches clients how to eliminate food and carb intolerances and master their mindset so they can transform their health and their lives. As co-host of TLC's Freaky Eaters and health expert on Dr. Phil, JJ is a prominent TV and media personality, including appearances on PBS, Dr. Oz, Rachael Ray, Access Hollywood, and the TODAY Show. JJ is the author of four NY Times bestsellers: The Virgin Diet, The Virgin Diet Cookbook, JJ Virgin's Sugar Impact Diet, and JJ Virgin's Sugar Impact Diet Cookbook. Her latest book, Miracle Mindset, shows warrior moms how to be strong, positive leaders for their families, while exploring the inspirational lessons JJ learned as she fought for her own son's life. Her most recent title is Warrior Mom: 7 Secrets to Bold, Brave Resilience. JJ hosts the popular JJ Virgin Lifestyle Show podcast and regularly writes for Huffington Post, Rodale Wellness, Mind Body Green and other major blogs and magazines. In addition to her work with nutrition and fitness, JJ is also a business coach and founded the premier health entrepreneur event and community, The Mindshare Summit. Ok, this conversation got very deep about what JJ had to deal with when her son was hit by a car. You will be so beyond inspired...be sure to have tissues nearby. JJ is such an inspiration and warrior for taking on your life with power, intention, love, deep self-care and meaning. I was moved to tears listening to what she had to go through. Things You'll Learn From This Episode There is no someday or tomorrow, you must own your health NOW. You are personally responsible for your health. It is the most important asset you have. Take care of this first as you never know when you'll need to face a challenge and your health will be a saving grace. If you can't do it for yourself or struggle with self-worth, find an excellent coach who can help you around self-worth. Pay more than you normally will so you pay attention. (Ok friends, if you are looking for a coach to work with you, I would love to be on that journey and/or can recommend some amazing other coaches) Choose one thing at a time to focus on with making health changes or losing weight. Use the principals of 'The One Thing' (see the episode with Jay Papasan as a reference on this book) and keep your eyes on one thing. Stay in gratitude, especially around the most challenging times. This will be a game changer and can shift how you feel about yourself and life. With weight loss, if you struggle with food addiction or addictive foods, keep the triggers out of your house and understand there is no margin of error. Eating, unlike drinking alcohol, is a must. Find foods that nourish you but don't trigger you. See JJ's cookbook for great ideas. *Share what you are struggling with or looking to transform with Julie at [email protected]. S2 Ep 114Ocean Robbins on Starting A Food Revolution With The Grandson Of Baskin-Robbins

Ocean Robbins is the CEO and co-founder of the 500,000+ member Food Revolution Network — one of the largest communities of healthy eating advocates on the planet. He has held hundreds of live seminars and events that have touched millions of lives from 190 nations. He is also the author of the bestselling book, 31-Day Food Revolution. Ocean is founder and was director of the nonprofit YES!, which has led transformational events for 650,000 leaders in 65 nations. He's a recipient of the national Jefferson Award for Outstanding Public Service, the Freedom's Flame Award, the Harmon Wilkinson Award, and numerous other honors. Things We Learned From This Episode 90% of Americans try to eat healthy but have no idea what that means or where to begin and are confused in general about how to eat well. Most Americans eat 15 lbs of sugar a year and get 1400 chemicals through their food (processed food)! Sugar (not including natural sugar from fruit) is more addictive than drugs like heroine, and hit your reward center in your brain giving you a rush of dopamine (feel good hormone). It is not your fault if you are addicted to sugar and flour (flour also has the same sugar like effects on your body). The best place to start is by taking action and making a food shopping list, getting rid of processed items and cooking at home, preparing food for the week. Sharing homemade food with friends, family and neighbors also creates deeper bonds and social connections. Getting at least 3 servings of greens a day can add 11 years of healthy brain function to your life...kale, anyone?! :) Ocean has served as adjunct professor for Chapman University, and on the boards of Friends Of The Earth, Creating Our Future, Tipping Point Network, Turning Tide Coalition, and many other organizations. Ocean's grandfather founded Baskin-Robbins, and his father, John Robbins, walked away from the family company and ice cream fortune to write bestsellers, including Diet for a New America, and to become a renowned health advocate. Now, Ocean is on a mission to transform the industrialized food culture into one that celebrates and supports healthy people and a healthy planet, and he's inviting YOU to join the food revolution. Ocean has been featured in: Time Magazine, Audubon, USA Today, New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post. And he's been seen by hundreds of millions in TV, radio, online, and in-person appearances. About the Book: 31-Day Food Revolution is a guide to liberation from a toxic food world. Author Ocean Robbins reveals the secrets the industrialized food industry doesn't want people to know, how specific ingredients and methods could be making people sick, and what they can do about it. And he shows how to use the amazing power of delicious food to heal the gut, lose excess weight, and lower the risk for disease — all while contributing to a healthier planet. In his nonjudgmental and down-to-earth way, Ocean Robbins meets people wherever they are on their personal journey with food, helping make small improvements that lead to big results. *Share what you are struggling with or looking to transform with Julie at [email protected]. S2 Ep 113Dan Casetta on Becoming A Champion In Your Life

Dan Casetta connects good ideas and great people. As a respected and trusted business leader, Dan has had a profound impact on thousands of entrepreneurs, leaders, and salespeople over the past 25 years. Throughout his career with the Vector Marketing/Cutco sales organization, Dan has been a one-in-a-million achiever and transformational leader. He became the most successful and influential field manager in the nearly 70-year history of Cutco, and his programs for leading and developing teams were integral in sparking the company's rapid growth and expansion. Throughout various roles with the company, Dan has coached and mentored top sales reps, managers, and executives, teaching skills like selling, leadership, financial well-being, and personal development to the company's top talent. Dan helps create champions both in and out of his Cutco business. His influence has extended nationwide speaking, writing, and hosting gatherings of like-minded success-oriented people. He's the co-author of "Success Starts Today" with Jack Canfield and "Cutting Edge Sales" with Jon Berghoff, Hal Elrod, and a Who's Who of powerful present-day influencers who started their careers with Cutco. His passion is in adding value to the world and leaving positive ripples everywhere he goes. You can sign up for Dan's blogs and get more wisdom from his monthly emails at www.DanCasetta.com and also find Dan and his videos on financial wellbeing, leadership and EQ on Youtube (search 'Dan Casetta') as well as on Facebook and Linked-In @dancasetta Things We Learned from Dan Casetta Being the best version of myself means constantly learning and growing and sharing this with others. Learning how to bounce back from challenges has been a major asset to handlling these situations like blips on the screen vs. prolonged downturns. The question I ask myself to help with any situation is "Am I going to die RIGHT NOW?" This question gives immediate perspective. The steps to becoming your most successful is through consistent incremental growthy, which eventuall explodes into exponential improvement. Whether you are in sales, have your own business or are looking for more connection with others, the most important thing you can do is find ways to add authentic value to others and develop genuine interest in others. Finding the balance between a successful career and family has meant adopting the principle 'work to live', not the other way around. Do What You Love can be a misguided piece of advice. If "what you love" doesn't add value to the world, it should be a hobby, not something more. Do something that ADDS VALUE to the world. If you can intersect this with doing something you love, that's ideal. But if not, do something that adds value as your career, and do what you love as your hobby. *Share what you are struggling with or looking to transform with Julie at [email protected].
