Eastbound Strangler Part 4
Thank you for listening to the Eastbound Strangler and thanks to this week's sponsor betterhelp.com. Source: Atlantic City Prosecutor's Office THE CASE: On November 20, 2006 the four victims were found in the drainage ditch behind the Golden Key Motel in West Atlantic City (Egg Harbor Township). The drainage ditch contains fresh water run-off and is also tidal measuring five feet deep and ten feet across. It runs parallel with Route 322. Kim Raffo was the first victim discovered when her body was located by two women out for a walk. They were walking along a path that ran parallel to the drainage ditch. After 911 was contacted and uniformed officers arrived, three more female bodies were discovered as officers searched along the path for additional evidence. The ACPO Major Crimes Unit arrived and the crime scene area was secured. The bodies were recovered during the evening hours and the scene remained secured until daybreak on November 21, 2006. The area from which the bodies were recovered was searched east to the bridge and west for approximately one mile between Route 322 and the Atlantic City Expressway. All four bodies were identified: Kim Raffo, Molly Dilts, Barbara Breidor and Tracy Roberts; and families contacted within a week’s time. Eastbound Strangler
EThank you to this week's sponsor, Best Fiends. https://bestfiends.com/ From Atlantic City Prosecutor's Office: "Prosecutor Tyner said law enforcement needs the public’s help as the investigation continues 12 years later. “Somebody knows something about this case. Somebody has to know something,” Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner says of the discovery on Nov. 20, 2006, of the bodies of Kim Raffo, Molly Dilts, Barbara Breidor and Tracy Roberts that were dumped in a drainage ditch in West Atlantic City. “At the end of the day, Kim Raffo, Molly Dilts, Barbara Breidor and Tracy Roberts were someone’s mother, daughter, sister, and wife. And I shudder to characterize them as four prostitutes whose bodies were found because it’s not about that. Instead, I say these were four women who were found dead in West Atlantic City on Nov. 20, 2006. They will not be forgotten,” Prosecutor Tyner said." Delphi Anniversary
EThe Delphi Police Department, the Carroll County Sheriff, the Indiana State Police, and the FBI are asking for your assistance in identifying the suspect in the double homicide of two teenage girls, Abigail J. "Abby" Williams, 13, and Liberty Rose Lynn "Libby" German, 14, both from Delphi. On Monday, February 13th, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the two young girls were let off near the Monon High Bridge, an abandoned rail bridge over Deer Creek to walk around and hang out. They were to be picked up later in the afternoon, but did not show up there at the previously arranged time. Following an extensive search, at approximately 12:15 p.m. on February 14, 2017, the bodies of the two girls were found in a wooded area near the Delphi Historic Trail, approximately one-half mile upstream from the bridge. The case is still unsolved so please visit this website below to submit tips. EThank you to this week's sponsor, Best Fiends. Download & play at the Apple App Store or Google Play. As News5 in Cleveland released an "Exclusive" story about the state of the Amy Mihaljevic case. The story seems credible but I have some questions about the validity to some parts of the report. Monday was the 31st Anniversary of when Amy's body was discovered so the timing is questionable... Since I was inundated with questions about this "report" I asked my good buddy Nic from the True Crime Garage podcast to be my guest this week to bounce some of the questions I have off of him. The stories on the news became less sporadic as each day passed. Marilyn Sheppard Part 2, w/ Nic of True Crime Garage
EPart 2: In the early morning hours of July 4, 1954, Marilyn Sheppard was bludgeoned to death in her bed. Her husband Sam, a prominent Bay Village doctor, maintained that Marilyn was murdered by a bushy-haired intruder. He stood trial and was convicted for his wife’s murder amidst a media storm. The media frenzy so tainted the case that the United States Supreme Court released him and ordered a retrial in the decision Sheppard v. Maxwell. At the 1966 retrial, Sheppard was acquitted. The Sodder Family Christmas Fire
On December 24th, 1945, the Sodder family of Fayetteville, West Virginia, went to bed without knowing the hell they were about to endure. Around 1:30 AM a fire broke out in the 2 story home. The Sodder's had 9 children in the house that Christmas Eve. It became paramount for George & Jennie to save their children. Four of the children were located and the other five were presumed to be caught in the fire. After a number of failed attempts to reach the children the family could only watch the house burn down. What makes this case so mysterious is when the fire marshall and investigators searched the property there was no sign of the missing children. What happened to the five Sodder children remains a mystery to this day. ETIPS: 440-871-1234 0R 1-800-CALL-FBIThank you to Nic and the Captain from the True Crime Garage podcast for joining me this week to discuss the unsolved murder of 10-year-old Amy Mihaljevic. Here case is so unique because someone called her at home and arranged the meeting where she was abducted. She told two friends about the meeting but no names were mentioned although he said he worked with her mother. When Amy didn't return home that night the alarm bells were sounded instantly. The FBI was quickly involved and the search began.Four months later the search ended in a field off County Road 1181 in Ashland County; 50 miles to the south of Bay Village. If we can make the connection between these two places, we can find the killer.31 years is too long for any family or community to wait for answers. If you'd like to support the "Pod Fund" you can do so by clicking HERE. Who Killed Amy Mihaljevic? Brand New W/ True Crime Garage
ETips: 440-871-1234 or 1-800-CALL-FBIOctober 27, 1989, marks 31 years since 10-year-old Amy Renee Mihaljevic was abducted from the Bay Village Plaza, in Bay Village, Ohio.Amy lured to the plaza by a mysterious phone caller who called Amy at home and set up a time to go and buy her mom a gift for her new promotion at work. The problem was there was no promotion and this person didn't work with her mom.The city freaked out at the idea of a child being kidnapped from their quiet & safe suburb of Cleveland. I was Amy's age and grew up in the neighboring city. We were inundated with Amy posters, Stranger Danger classes, and extra lessons on what to do when a stranger confronts you.Nic & the Captain host True Crime Garage, one the most popular true crime podcasts in the world and they joined me this week to discuss Amy's case.If you'd like to listen to their episodes about Amy, their catalogue can be found in the Stitcher App.If you'd like to donate to the "Pod Fund" you can do so by clicking HERE. In addition to being a podcast host, she also writes for James Renner's website Philosophy of Crime.Excerpt from an article Naptime Nancy wrote for the Philosophy of Crime website."A Christmas time family road trip’s one night stop on the way to Disney World, ended in horror. John Swalley of Columbus, OH, had asked his friend, Clyde Williamson, if he and his two children could stay the night at Clyde’s place in Atlanta, GA. Swalley didn’t want to worry about running out of gas too far from a gas station on their road trip. Clyde and John had met while working at the Westinghouse Electric Company plant in Mansfield, Ohio. When they reached the Pace Setters apartment complex, John’s eleven year old daughter, Sherri Lynn Swalley, and her five year old brother were allowed to go play around the apartment complex with the other children living there.A couple of hours later, a neighbor of Clyde Williamson’s, Carolyn Ellis, was cooking up a big dinner for the guests and asked Sherri to go round up her father and Clyde for dinner around approximately 8PM. That was the last time Sherri Lynn Swalley was seen alive."https://www.newspapers.com/clip/41078879/murder-of-sherri-swalley/ Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

You can check out their show wherever you get your favorite podcasts. Ivan Milat was a road worker who killed seven backpackers in the Belanglo state forest in the early 1990s. Palatine Massacre AKA Brown's Chicken Murders
EHello…and welcome to episode 67 of Who Killed…?, I am your host Bill Huffman and this is a Slo Burn Media Podcast.Join me… this week as wel begin exploring the tragic case of the Brown’s Chicken Massacre aka the Palatine Massacre in Palatine, Illinois in 1993.This case is very extensive so this will be part one of the mini series and I will lay out the facts of the case, the victims, and what impact the crime had on the city of Palatine. In any murder case where there are multiple victims, the pain stretches far and wide. In the Brown’s Massacre, the victims ranged from high school students to the older couple who owned the restaurant.Join me as we take a look back at a crime so brutal and cold blooded the whole town was put on edge. While the Chicago Bulls were in the midst of the third championship season in a row, the city was ripe with corruption and the rent in the city was going sky high.Crime in the area was another thing on the minds of many Chicagoan’s, even though there was a decline in the murder rate from the previous year.Crime was beginning to make its way out of the city and into some of the suburbs that may not have been ready for the violence headed their way.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9h3tJ2FD-nghttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palatine,_Illinoishttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown%27s_Chicken_massacrehttp://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=291188http://www.mcgonigal.org/Data/general/BrownsChicken.pdfhttp://articles.chicagotribune.com/2009-08-05/news/0908030339_1_massacre-haunt-juan-lunahttps://www.chicagotribune.com/news/breaking/ct-browns-chicken-massacre-james-degorski-met-20160907-story.htmlhttps://www.chicagotribune.com/chi-browns-chicken-killings-anniversary-story.htmlhttps://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-020517browns-gallery-photogallery.htmlhttps://www.newspapers.com/clip/50344552/chicago-tribune/https://www.newspapers.com/image/241404765/?terms=palatine%2Bmassacre Learn more about your ad choices. Tony Muncy UPDATE with Nic from True Crime Garage
ETONY MUNCY UPDATE: We have all been forced to live in some sort of bizarro world and a lot of people are getting stir crazy as they run out of things to do. With all the news being doom and gloom, rightfully so, I thought I'd change things up a bit this week. Nic from True Crime Garage is back as a guest to discuss the latest UPDATE in the Tony Muncie case. You can listen to their premium episode HERE."From Alice of defrostingcoldcases.com, John Anthony “Tony” Muncy (15) was last seen on October 15, 1983 in the evening hours at the York Plaza Movie Theatre in Columbus. On October 16, 1983, his dismembered body was found on South Galena Road, Galena, Delaware County, Ohio.Cause of death: multiple stab wounds in the back. All extremities were either partly or completely severed from his torso. His severed arms seemed cut at the elbows. His legs and his head were partly severed. The Delaware County Sheriff’s Report states that Deputy J. Loudermilk was called to South Galena Road to meet a man who found what appeared to be a body. I have not been able to find out if this man was cleared as a suspect. The body was between Golf Course Road and Alexander Road east of the bridge. Deputy Loudermilk found Muncy lying beside the road inside four black trash bags. The body was all cut up. The Deputy immediately called for backup while he held the scene."It is important to keep our brains stimulated during this lockdown and social distancing has forced us all to become binge viewers, listeners or readers. So join me this week as Nic and I discuss some of the entertainment that has kept us going through the quarantine.I know it's a little different, but trust me, I'm sure we will still be talking true crime.Thank you guys for tuning to this week’s episode. Who Killed Janette Roberson?
EThank you to this week's sponsor, Best Fiends, the 5-star mobile puzzle game with over 100 million downloads. Please download today!Hello and welcome to Episode 61 of Who Killed...?, a Slo Burn Media Podcast. I am your host Bill Huffman and this week we will be exploring the mysterious murder of Janette Roberson in Reed City, Michigan. I have noticed a trend in the cases I choose because once start looking into one case from a date, I inevitability end up looking at another case. This pattern can be seen with all of the Massachusetts cases I’ve covered and the most recent cases in Texas. Like all true crime enthusiasts I end up down some interesting rabbit holes and come out with more questions than when I went in. For example, the case we are covering this week happened in broad daylight. In the middle of a workday at the victims place of employment. How does this happen? If you have any information in Janette Roberson’s case please contact the Michigan State Police at (989) 773-5951 or Reed City Police Chief Chuck Davis at (231) 832-3743.Tips can also be submitted to the Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-800-SPEAKUP.For the second year in a row, I will be representing Who Killed…?, Who Killed Amy Mihaljevic?, and My Passion Case on Podcast row at CrimeCon 2020 in Orlando. Wondery Introduces Joe Exotic: Tiger King
EFor Joe Exotic, life was a zoo. On sixteen acres of dry Oklahoma prairie, Joe, whose last name is clearly not exotic, but that is what he calls himself, scratched out a living as a roadside wildlife attraction. Housing baboons, gators, and big cats. But he liked sideshow theatre in his personal life too. He was a gun toting, spurs wearing, tiger breading polygamist gay cowboy with a mullet. He was an eccentric local celebrity who even handed out condoms with his face printed on them. He had his own brand of crazy, but somewhere he pushed it too far. Find out how a love of animals turned to hate and murderous revenge. While you’re listening, go subscribe to Joe Exotic on Apple Podcast, Spotify, or wherever you’re listening now.
