This is an abnormal whiskey with a very unusual taste profile. Whistlepig has done some interesting collaborations which started with Big Papi and using maple bats in the aging process. With a low rye mashbill, 51% rye and 49% corn, it is the lowest rye mashbill that we have tried and the lowest amount of rye that it can have and still be a rye whiskey. An interesting whiskey with little excitement outside of an unusual flavor. If you have followed us for a while, you probably are not surprised that Knob Creek is back and for good reason, they make good whiskey. So far we have done the 9 year (100pf), Single Barrel Select Bourbon and Rye (115 and 120 proof). Does the 12 year stand up at its price point? With the 9 year at $30 and the 12 year at $65 (as of 2022), is it worth twice the amount? Puncher's Chance Bourbon is distilled in Kentucky and is a blend of 4, 5 and 6 year bourbons. The first thing you will likely notice is it is in a unique, also pretty cool, bottle. The tricky thing is the bottle (painted black) hides the color of the bourbon. It is lighter in color and as expected, it is a mellow sipper that is on the sweeter side.
