Ep 177177: Historic Sevilla win, Spurs defeat, Lyon here we come!

West Ham United beat Sevilla 2-0 at home to win 2-1 on aggregate to reach the Europa League quarter-finals in one of the most historic iconic nights the London Stadium has seen. Tomas Soucek and Andriy Yarmolenko scored to inflict Europa League giants Sevilla's first defeat by an English team ever in the competition. It was magical and the atmosphere cemented London Stadium's place as our home. What a night. Will Pugh and James Jones wax lyrical about one of the greatest nights in the club's history. They also briefly touch on the defeat at Spurs, which doesn't really matter, and review the Betway charity bets. And then get excited about the QF draw against Lyon - with the boys set to attend both legs. West Ham Women are also through to the FA Cup semi-finals after a 1-0 win at Ipswich and will face Man City at home. All the above and much more on this week's episode. Get it in your ears! Ep 176176: Sunny Seville, Surprises and Spurs

The least we were hoping for ahead of last week's Europa League clash in Seville was to still be in it when we welcome the La Liga giants to London Stadium this week. A 1-0 defeat to Sevilla means we have a huge opportunity to make history at London Stadium and secure our place in the Europa League quarter-finals this week! As you all probably know by now, Will spent much of last week in Seville, soaking up the sun, sinking plenty of beers and simply enjoying the atmosphere as West Ham put on an encouraging performance against the Europa League's most successful clubs. David Moyes' men did themselves and the fans proud and now, this Thursday night, we might be on the verge of witnessing something we've never, ever seen before! And then on Sunday, in what was a somewhat surprising performance and result, West Ham beat Aston Villa 2-1 at London Stadium to boost our chances of a second consecutive top-six finish. On this week's show, the lads chat to Sevilla employee James Dowden ahead of that huge game on Thursday night, preview the victory over Steven Gerrard's cry babies, look ahead to Sunday's trip to Spurs, pick their Betway charity bets, look back at West Ham Women's 1-0 win over rock-bottom Birmingham City and, of course, praise Andriy Yarmolenko's ability to get into the right mindset to come off the bench and score in the Premier League during what must be an incredibly difficult, emotional and painful time for him and his family. All the above and much more on this week's episode. Get it in your ears! Come on you Irons. You can follow the podcast here: Twitter: @We Are_West Ham. Facebook: We Are West Ham podcast. Ep 175175: LIVE FROM SEVILLE!

West Ham United play away at Sevilla on Thursday night in the first leg of their Europa League last 16 tie. For many fans around the world that may seem a trivial, even boring achievement. Not for West Ham. For true supporters of West Ham United, those who have endured so much, for so long, Thursday's game represents something they have for decades deserved. For the years under Allardyce and Grant, the heartbroken days where we were torn away from Upton Park against our will, the shite transfer windows, the empty promises and the seemingly endless tripe about how next season will be better. It is finally better. We were promised this. We deserve this. Never forget that. The outcome is unknown. And if we progress to the last eight, we at the We Are West Ham podcast will express similar sentiments again. And if we are knocked out, we should lap these days up before demanding our club gets here again. It is our love, our passion, our belief, our long-term, long suffering support and our money which has made this club what it is. Enjoy these moments, because it's the very least we are due. Huge credit to David Moyes for getting us this far and giving us a club we can be proud of. Long live David Moyes. And Long live West Ham. Come on you Irons. Ep 174174: We're going to Seville!

After a month or so of mediocre performances and signs that West Ham's top-six challenge might be on the verge of collapse, things are suddenly looking promising again. Last week's Europa League draw saw us matched with LaLiga giants Sevilla in the last-16 and then we secured a huge win over top-six rivals Wolves at London Stadium on Sunday. The draw is literally the stuff of dreams. No one could've imaged we'd be preparing to face six-time Europa League champions Sevilla in the last 16 of the competition just two years ago when David Moyes returned to the club. Now, West Ham are not only making that a reality but we're also battling for consecutive top-six finishes in the Premier League. It's incredible. Despite being off the boil over the last month or so, there are signs that this season still might have a really happy ending but the next seven days are going to be crucial to that. On Wednesday we travel to St. Mary's Stadium to face Southampton in the FA Cup 5th round, and then on Saturday, we visit Anfield, where we've won just once in the last 59 years. On this week's show, James Jones and Will Pugh discuss the Sevilla draw, the win over Wolves and also look ahead to this week's fixtures against Southampton and Liverpool. Also this week, we're joined by Saints fan and sports journalist James Beavis to preview the FA Cup clash and then Red Men TV's Ste Hoare to get the lowdown on all things Liverpool. Finally, we talk through our Betway Charity bets, react to West Ham Women's FA Cup victory over Reading and much, much more! Thanks for listening and be sure to tell your friends about us! Ep 173173: Wheels falling off (but the shed stands strong)

West Ham United could only draw 1-1 with Newcastle on Saturday as the wheels continue to fall off after a promising start to the season. Craig Dawson continued to be the Hammers’ biggest goal threat but Joe ‘loves a goal against West Ham’ Willock levelled for the struggling visitors. Will Pugh is joined by James Jones to look back at another disappointing home performance as West Ham’s top-four hopes were all but distinguished. However, it’s not all doom and gloom as the lads pulled in ANOTHER Betway charity bet winner! Dan Baylis from the Wolves 77 club podcast dials in to look ahead to Bruno Lage’s side visit to London Stadium on Sunday. And then, with no West Ham Women game, the lads say goodbye for another week with some final thoughts. Thanks for listening and be sure to tell your friends about us! Ep 172172: Leicest we forget Issa Diop

This week saw West Ham finally started to escape from the shadow of the Kurt Zouma cat-kicking shame. No thanks to Will Pugh and James Jones of course who spent much of the previous week on national TV and radio stations discussing the topic. And on the pitch it didn’t get much better, in fact it got worse. Another sloppy performance at Leicester saw the Hammers needing a late Craig Dawson elbowed equaliser to rescue a point. The boys react to the game but Will in particular remained in a good mood after he WON A BETWAY CHARITY BET to pull in a HUGE sum for the Bobby Moore Fund! The lads also make their next selections. Newcastle United editor from the Newcastle Chronicle Aaron Stokes dials in to look ahead to Saturday’s match against the Magpies at the London Stadium. Will tackles the West Ham Women’s surprising defeat at Leicester City on his own. And then the lads say goodbye for another week with some final thoughts. Ep 171171: Zouma debacle with Kiddy, Watford & Leicester

It was just another week at 'same ol' West Ham', wasn't it? It started with Declan Rice having to come off the bench to save us from the biggest upset in FA Cup history against sixth-tier Kidderminster Harriers. And it ended with an underwhelming 1-0 victory over Watford at home. In between, we had the not-so-small matter of Kurt Zouma drop-kicking and slapping his cat. The decision to play Zouma against Watford 24 hours after said cat video emerged on social media led to widespread outrage from the general public, which was understandable. David Moyes fluffed his lines when pressed on the matter after the game by describing it as a footballing decision, while some club sponsors moved to disassociate themselves with the club. All in all, it was a complete and utter car crash and unfortunately, we probably haven't heard the last of it just yet. Back on the football pitch, West Ham are back in the top-four after Tuesday's win and have a chance to keep that Champions League qualification flame flicking for a little bit longer with a win against Leicester City on Sunday. Trouble is, so many teams have games in hand on us that finishing in the top four is currently out of our hands. All we can do is keep winning, and what better place to continue that than Leicester, who have been shipping goals for fun and seem like a club in disarray after Brendan Rodgers publicly questioned his players' commitment last weekend. Friend of the show and big Leicester fan, TalkSPORT's Jake Watson, joined us this week to preview this game at the King Power. Also on this week's show, Will Pugh and Jame James Jones give their thoughts on the Zouma story, discuss the Hammers' near miss in the FA Cup, make their Betway charity bet selections, hail West Ham Women for yet another WSL victory and much more! Ep 170170: RIP Isla, transfer fury & Harriers view

West Ham fans around the world were heartbroken to learn of Isla Caton's passing last week as supporters from many clubs came together to pay tribute to the little princess. Her brave battle, along with her mum Nikki and the rest of Isla's family, against neuroblastoma over the past few years has captured the hearts and minds of the fanbase and produced some heartwarming and inspiring stories. Isla may no longer be with us in body, but she will stay with us in our minds and in our hearts for decades to come as her astounding legacy will outlive most of the people reading / listening to this. Will Pugh and James Jones start the show with a tribute to Super Isla and her family and send all the love and support they can. Such an incident puts life into perspective and that's what the boys cling onto in the second part of the show as they discuss West Ham's complete lack of transfer activity, who is to blame and where that leaves the club. The Hammers return to match action this weekend in the FA Cup Fourth Round away at Kidderminster Harriers, and lifelong Harriers fan Nick Haycox dials in to look ahead to the clash. The boys also reflect on a win and a defeat for the West Ham Women within the last week before saying goodbye for another week at the end of this slightly shorter episode. Thanks for listening. Ep 169169: VARcical scenes at Man Utd - ft. West Ham correspondent Tom Clark

Once again, West Ham did a West Ham by losing a game that had 0-0 written all over it. Except, against Man Utd, it was because of a controversial VAR call in the 93rd minute and a severe lapse in concentration. The 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford hurt more than it has done in the past. The Hammers are no strangers to losing there, but to do so in such fashion and at the expense of our position in the Premier League's top four was a tough one to take. But despite that, David Moyes' men look forward to a potentially fruitful FA Cup run, the latter stages of the Europa League and another potential top-six finish. So it's not all bad. Yet. As we enter the final week of the January transfer window, David Moyes, Rob Newman and the club are yet to add to West Ham's unacceptably thin squad. And if they don't then all of the above might be a stretch too far for what is fast becoming a very tired group of players. This time next week fans will know more about what we should expect. On this week's show, James Jones and Will Pugh give their thoughts on the controversy at Old Trafford, the performance and what they hope for after the international break. Football.London's West Ham Correspondent Tom Clark dials in to chat about the defeat last weekend, West Ham's thriving bunch of academy prospects, Moyes' January transfer intentions and much more. The lads also talk through their Betway Charity Bets, which were all way off the mark this time around. And finally, we discuss West Ham Women's 4-2 Conti Cup defeat to Chelsea and the superb 3-0 win over Everton in the WSL as Oli Harder continues to turn the team's fortunes around after last season's battle to survive relegation. There’s then time for some final thoughts before the boys say goodbye for another week. Thanks for listening. You can follow the podcast here: Twitter: @We Are_West Ham. Ep 168168: Lack of 'clinicalism' vs Leeds & Man Utd next up

West Ham did a West Ham against Leeds and lost 3-2 at home just a week after dispatching them with ease in the FA Cup. They also beat hapless Norwich 2-0 at home since the last We Are West Ham podcast but even that left a slightly flat feel given the countless fluffed chances. Jarrod Bowen continued his excellent form with three goals in two games but he bizarrely felt the need to apologise to fans on social media after missing a sitter which would have made it 3-3 against Leeds at the death. Will Pugh is joined by James Jones to discuss all of that as well as give the low down on Issa Diop and his time at the club after two of his mistakes directly led to two of Jack Harrison’s three goals – the first hat-trick of his career. Sports journalist and Man Utd fan Matt Beadle dials in to chat all things Red Devils ahead of David Moyes’ men trip to Old Trafford on Saturday. The lads then make their Betway charity bet selections after a winner in the Norwich game. And then the Daily Mail’s Kathryn Batte joins again after watching West Ham Women nick a 1-1 draw away at Tottenham thanks to Kate Longhurst’s last minute headed winner. There’s then time for some final thoughts before the boys say goodbye for another week. Thanks for listening. You can follow the podcast here: Twitter: @We Are_West Ham. Ep 167167: Leeds double whammy & the FA Cup run begins

West Ham continued their perfect start to 2022 with a reasonably comfortable 2-0 win against Leeds at London Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup. Manuel Lanzini continued his superb run of form and opened the scoring in the first-half before Jarrod Bowen sealed the win in the closing stages. And the great day got even better for the Hammers who were draw against National League North side Kidderminster Harriers in the fourth round. Will Pugh is joined by James Jones to react to the Leeds win with the help of SunSport’s Kieran Benn who also looks ahead to the Whites’ second visit to the London Stadium in eight days. Marcelo Bielsa’s men arrive in East London again on Sunday - this time in the Premier League - with David Moyes’ men hoping to keep the pressure on the top-four. But before all that, Norwich turn up on Wednesday in the fixture that has been rearranged from last year after it was postponed because of Covid. Broadcaster and Canaries fan John Cushing dials in to chat all things Carrow Road and look ahead to that clash. The boys make also make their Betway charity bets. And they wrap things up with a look ahead to West Ham Women’s game at Tottenham this weekend with the Daily Mail’s women’s football correspondent Kathryn Batte. There’s then time for some final thoughts before the boys say goodbye for another week. Thanks for listening. You can follow the podcast here: Twitter: @We Are_West Ham. Ep 166166: New year, same ol' massive West Ham

West Ham started 2022 in perfect fashion with a 3-2 away win at Crystal Palace after capping of 2021 with equal success at Watford. Will Pugh and James Jones return for the first time this year to chew the fat on all things West Ham over the festive period. The boys look back at the Southampton defeat on Boxing Day before the two superb away wins that followed. And that is followed by a review of their Betway charity bets over the Christmas break including a winner in the Palace game! The January transfer window has opened and West Ham are said to be in the market. Will reveals the Hammers are in for Everton’s Lucas Digne as well as the fact the club have cash to spend in the window and expect to sign a striker. The lads also run through some other options including having their say on whether controversial Flamengo striker would be a good fit in David Moyes’ team. That is before Darren from the LS11 podcast dials in to look ahead to Sunday’s FA Cup third round game against Leeds at London Stadium. And then there’s some final thoughts from the boys before they say goodbye for another week. You can follow the podcast here: Twitter: @We Are_West Ham. Facebook: We Are West Ham podcast. Ep 165165: The best 12 months for decades - 2021 in review

West Ham United have just had the best 12 months in living memory. European qualification, their highest Premier League finish since the 90s, and some giant scalps along the way. Some stars have cemented themselves as cult heroes and in Declan Rice, Hammers fans have an icon they’ll remember forever. Will Pugh and James Jones are here for the last time in 2021 to look back on an unforgettable year of football for their beloved Hammers. From the near-perfect start in January and Jesse Lingard’s arrival to sealing that sixth place spot. The historic Euros and England’s run to the final with Rice at the heart of it making Hammers everywhere oh-so-proud. And when you thought it couldn’t get any better, David Moyes’ men kicked off the 2021-22 campaign in scintillating fashion – roaring to third in the Premier League and winning their Europa League group with a game to spare. Granted the year has finished with the worst run of form the team has been through in 2021, but bigger picture, it’s been a whirlwind dream that Irons fans can all be proud of. The lads recorded this show on Christmas Eve after the Tottenham defeat in the League Cup so don’t know what happened in the Southampton match. They run through the year month-by-month, game-by-game before handing out their end of year awards. It’s been a blast this year and they’ll be back at it in January. Thank you so much for all your support in 2021, it’s been phenomenal and we are both really grateful. We both hope you have a fantastic new year and look forward to the show getting back on the road in 2022. You can follow the podcast here: Twitter: @We Are_West Ham. Ep 164164: Spur(s)ed on by pain in the Arsenal

West Ham United lost 2-0 at Arsenal last Wednesday thanks to a combination of a much-changed Hammers team and the ref Anthony Taylor. Vladimir Coufal was sent off for two ridiculously soft yellow cards and after that, David Moyes’ men weren’t able to fight back from 1-0 down. In fact they let Emile Smith Rowe in to wrap up the points for the home side after Gabriel Martinelli had put them 1-0 up. The Irons looked like they had a good chance to bounce back with a home game against Norwich on Saturday but it was postponed after a Covid-related request from the Canaries. Will Pugh was at the Emirates and he is joined by James Jones to look back at that game as well as to look ahead to West Ham’s next two fixtures – Tottenham away in the Carabao Cup and Southampton at home on Boxing Day. Daily Express sports editor and huge Spurs fan Alex Milne dials in to chat all things Lilywhites with Antonio Conte having turned them around since taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo. And the Evening Standard’s West Ham correspondent, and massive Saints fan, Jack Rosser also joins to look ahead to that Southampton clash. The lads make their Betway charity selections after failing to pick a winner for the Gunners game. They look back at a decent League Cup win and a solid transitional year for West Ham Women under Ollie Harder. All of that before saying goodbye for 2021. There will be a pre-recorded review of the year show that goes out between Christmas and new year but this will be the last ‘proper format’ show of the year. Thank you so much for all your support this year, it’s been phenomenal and we are both really grateful. We both hope you have a fantastic Christmas and look forward to the show getting back on the road in 2022. You can follow the podcast here: Twitter: @We Are_West Ham. Ep 163163: So much love to Isla, boring Burnley and Gunning for Arsenal

The We Are West Ham podcast has a slightly different feel this week thanks to work commitments and the Hammers’ game vs Arsenal slap bang in the middle of the week. So this is part one of a two-part episode this week. Will Pugh and James Jones start with the heartbreaking news from Isla Caton’s mum Nikki that they’ve stopped treatment and beautiful Isla does not have too long left with us. She has been an inspiration to us here on the podcast and thousands, if not millions, of people – particularly West Ham fans - around the world. We send Isla and her family all the love, thoughts and best wishes we possibly can and hope that every single one of our listeners does too. Isla’s just giving page is still running as the family try to raise some more cash in order to make her last days, weeks and hopefully months as magical and memorable as they can. Please donate HERE if you can. After a sad but meaningful start to the podcast, the lads go on to discuss Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Burnley which Will had the misfortune of going to. Ep 162162: All hail King Arthur the Chelsea slayer. Long live the King.

West Ham United's dream season just keeps going as the Hammers beat Chelsea 3-2 at the London Stadium They also made it nine games without a victory against Brighton since the last podcast but we won't talk about that. Actually Will Pugh and James Jones do talk about both of those games and much more in this bumper episode of the pod. The lads hail King Arthur Masuaku and his goal against the Blues, rue that ridiculous record against the Seagulls make their Betway charity bet selections and then look forward to the next two games this week. They start with Thursday's dead rubber Europa League game against Dinamo Zagreb at London Stadium before Joe from the Turfcast dials in to chat about Sunday's visit to Turf Moor in the Premier League. Ep 161161: Europa done, City no fun & Brighton and Chelsea to come

West Ham United won their Europa League group with a game to spare having beat Rapid Vienna last Thursday. Imagine saying that three years ago. It was a fairly flat affair with no fans in the stadium but Mark Noble scored in Europe for the Hammers which is fairytale stuff. But the positive feeling didn't last long as David Moyes' men went to a snowy Etihad and lost 2-1 on Sunday. Will Pugh and James Jones are back again to discuss the last two games as well as to look forward to two huge Premier League encounters against Brighton and Chelsea - both at London Stadium. Tom the Seagulls fan dials in before long-time friend of the show Stamford Chidge joins in for a double-header opposition view. Ep 160160: Hunted by Wolves before Rapid & City

It's not often West Ham United can look back on a defeat and feel quite content. To be fair, it's not often the Hammers have to look back on a defeat at all these days, such is the superb job David Moyes is doing. The 1-0 defeat at Wolves last weekend was deserved, so there are no complaints from James Jones and Will Pugh on this week's podcast. The likes of Michail Antonio in particular felt the effects of travelling thousands of miles on international duty. But one thing we can be sure of is the team's ability to bounce back quickly from defeat and they've got a good opportunity to do that on Thursday night against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League. It's so disappointing fans won't be there to see it but the blow of having supporters banned by UEFA was softened slightly by Austria going into another national lockdown this week, meaning the game will be played behind closed doors. All of that and much more is discussed on this week's show, as well as West Ham Women's huge 1-0 victory over Spurs with Kathryn Batte from the Daily Mail. Ahead of Sunday's trip to the Etihad, the lads are joined by David Mooney from the Blue Moon Podcast to get the lowdown on Man City for this week's Opposition View chat. And the lads talk through their Betway Charity Bet selections ahead of the weekend, with a couple of very, very attractive bets with decent odds! Lastly, we'd like to apologise for yet another delayed delivery of the podcast. Life has got in the way a little bit recently but we're still doing our very best to bring you all the show you seem to enjoy so much! Ep 159159: UEFA away fan ban spoils Vienna Europa party

Well for the first time in what seems months, the We Are West Ham boys have something negative to talk about. After 150 ticket-less West Ham supporters stormed the turnstiles at the Hammers' last Europa League away game at GENK, Uefa have fined the club and banned away fans from their next European fixture - Rapid Vienna away. That has left the 1,700 ticket holders plus hundreds more Hammers fans planning to head to Austria for the celebration out of pocket to the tune of hundreds of pounds on money spent on flights and hotel. West Ham have criticised Uefa for the timing of the announcement and decided not to appeal having seen evidence. Will Pugh and James Jones are directly affected having booked flights and accommodation and the lads do not hold back when giving their opinion on the parties concerned. Having not had a chance to discuss last week, the chaps give their thoughts on Daniel Kretinsky's £180million investment into the club. The lads also make their Betway charity bets ahead of West Ham's visit to Molineux on Saturday. And Dan from the Wolves 77 club pod joins the lads to chat about the game as eighth-placed Wolves go into the game in middling form. Will and James look back at West Ham Women's 2-2 draw against Reading when the girls threw away a lead AGAIN! All that before some final thoughts and the usual dollop of banter and peeks behind the curtain. Thanks so much for listening - last week's pod made our top three most listened which is superb. Ep 158158: West Ham are MASSIVE everywhere they goooo!

West Ham are massive everywhere they goooooooo! Are the Hammers ever going to lose again? A 2-2 draw away at Genk confirming qualification to the knockout stage of the Europa League before a historic win amid a phenomenal atmosphere against Liverpool at the London Stadium ending the Reds’ nine month unbeaten run. Will Pugh is back to join James Jones after his week off and the boys are positively glowing as they look back on two more superb matches that fans will and should remember forever. The lads run through the 3-2 Liverpool win – the good West Ham goals, the bad refereeing decisions and the ugly way Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp go about their business. The Genk game is analysed too – particularly Said Benrahma’s superb performance and the poor man who lost a finger when celebrating a West Ham goal. And the superb atmosphere created by the travelling masses. The lads look back at the Betway charity bets from the Liverpool game. And they take a moment to have a more general peek at the latest West Ham news including the Hammers' players overlooked for the latest England squad, Angelo Ogbonna’s knee injury and where Declan Rice could improve his already superb performances. The boys also take a minute to read out a few recent comments and reviews they have received from you loyal lovely listeners before they look back at West Ham Women’s 4-0 defeat to Arsenal and ahead to their game against Reading. They wrap up with some final thoughts before saying goodbye for another week. You can follow the podcast here: Twitter: @We Are_West Ham. Facebook: We Are West Ham podcast. Ep 157157: West Ham Women: Can Vivianne Miedema be stopped? - Nancy Gillen, GiveMeSport Women

West Ham Women have enjoyed a strong to the season having gone unbeaten in all competitions since their opening weekend defeat to Brighton. Such form sees them placed 6th in the WSL right now, but they travel to a rampant Arsenal Women side who have a 100% record in the league so far this term and have scored 19 goals in the process. The Gunners have world class players all over the pitch but the one that stands out is Vivianne Miedema, who already has nine goals in nine appearances in 2021/2022 and whose record for the Gunners is 103 goals in 110 appearances in all competitions. The Netherlands international is a goal machine and Oli Harder will have a job on his hands trying to stop her from adding to such an impressive tally on Sunday evening. We spoke to GiveMeSport Women's Nancy Gillen to try and find out how Miedema can be stopped, while she also gives us her thoughts on her beloved Arsenal and what she thinks of West Ham's recent improvement under Harder. Ep 156156: Opposition View: Liverpool - Ste Hoare, The Redmen TV

As promised, we're bringing you this week's Opposition View as a separate episode this week due to both Will and Reece being away, leaving James to find a way of delivering you all the bits of the podcast you enjoy! Joining James this week is The Redmen TV's very own Ste Hoare, who gives us the lowdown on what West Ham fans can expect from Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool on Sunday afternoon. It's a huge top-four Premier League clash between two teams who are both flying in Europe, in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup and are enjoying strong league season so far. It promises to be a very interesting battle in multiple areas of the pitch and the lads discuss where they think the game could be won or lost, what shape Liverpool are in fitness-wise ahead of the game and what Ste thinks the outcome will be at London Stadium. Ep 155155: Absolutely flippin' Marvelous

It just keeps getting better and better and better, doesn't it? After a quality week that saw us beat Everton, Genk and Spurs, David Moyes' side have continued such massive form by knocking Manchester City out of the Carabao Cup and thumping Aston Villa at Villa Park. This week, though, we're bringing you something a bit different on the We Are West Ham Podcast. With Will and Reece both off, James has been left to man the fort and find a way of still bringing you the podcast you know and love. So this is just a 30-minute 'explainer' podcast, in which James gives his views on the Man City and Villa wins, the current takeover talk and explains what's going to happen to the likes of the Opposition View, Betway and West Ham Women sections. Don't worry, you're still going to get all the content you'd normally get, it's just a bit more spread out this week! Ep 154154: Wet Spam 1 - 0 Spuds. Up the Spammers!

Weeks at West Ham don't get much better than that, do they?! After winning at Goodison Park, David Moyes' men followed up with a comfortable 3-0 win over KRC Genk in the Europa League before beating Spurs 1-0 at London Stadium to climb back into the top four. We're running out of words to describe how good our football team has become under the Moyesiah. Three wins in a week, zero goals conceded, six points clear at the top of our Europa League group and sitting pretty in the top four of the Premier League. What a time to be a West Ham fan. So on this week's show, James Jones and Will Pugh react to the wins over Genk and Spurs, clash over the future of Declan Rice and wholeheartedly agree with each other that West Ham United are absolutely massive. Also this week, we chat to Man City and Aston Villa fans for yet another double-up of the increasingly popular opposition view segment and the lads pick their Betway Charity Bets for Sunday's trip to Villa Park. This is a packed episode and really isn't worth missing! You can follow the podcast here: Twitter: @We Are_West Ham. Facebook: We Are West Ham podcast. Ep 153153: Well I n-Everton, GENK & Spurs are coming to town

What a way to return to 'proper' football! After a two week international break, West Ham got their upcoming hectic fixture schedule off to the perfect start with a 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park. Angelo Ogbonna was the match-winner with around 15 minutes to go as all our possession and huffing and puffing paid off in the end, and it took us straight back into the Premier League's top-six, which is fast becoming home for West Ham. Still a bit weird, isn't it? Now we face a busy run of fixtures, which includes hosting Genk in the Europa League on Thursday, a huge London derby against Spurs on Sunday afternoon and then Man City in the Carabao Cup the following Wednesday. So on this week's show, James and Will react to that Everton win directly after the final whistle, while they also look ahead to Sunday's huge clash against Spurs. With two games before our next episode, it means we've got two Opposition View sections. Firstly, James catches up with Tim Oliver from the TerrilTalks Podcast, who revealed everything we need to know about Europa League opponents and also discussed the similarities between our two clubs. And then Will has a chat with talkSPORT's Paul Coyte, who gives us the lowdown on how Spurs are adapting to life under Nuno Espirito Santo. Also this week, the lads discuss West Ham Women's 1-0 WSL Cup victory over London City and they give their Betway Charity Bet selections for the Spurs game. This is a packed episode and really isn't worth missing! You can follow the podcast here: Twitter: @We Are_West Ham. Facebook: We Are West Ham podcast. Ep 152152: Yarmo the troll strikes again & Everton here we come!

West Ham are almost through yet another international break, but thankfully James Jones and Will Pugh are at your service once again to make things a bit more interesting. With no fewer than eight players out on international duty, it's great to finally see West Ham's superstars getting recognition on the international stage, albeit with the added anxiety of them all returning injured and prepared to get back to the more important job of keeping up our strong start to the season. That's more important than ever before as we embark on a crazy fixture schedule that sees David Moyes' men play five games across 19 days in three different competitions. So on this week's show, James and Will discuss the players out on international duty, compare outfits ahead of the Football Content Awards on Thursday night (we're nominated for a gong!) and give their views on the controversial takeover of Newcastle, which sees them become the richest club in world football under questionable new ownership. Also this week, the lads react to West Ham Women's 1-1 draw with Birmingham City last weekend and preview this Sunday's huge Premier League clash at Everton. And the lads also make their Betway Charity Bet selections for the Everton game. There may not have been much football to talk about this week, but this episode is still packed with loads to discuss! Ep 151151: Therapise session after Bees' sting & Vienna win

It was a weird week for West Ham. After comfortably brushing aside Rapid Vienna in the club's first-ever home Europa League group stage match, David Moyes' side conceded a a 94th-minute goal to newly-promoted Brentford at London Stadium in the Premier League. But despite the negative thoughts that inevitably follow a defeat - especially in those circumstances - we must not lose sight of the fact West Ham are still having a really good season. It was only the Hammers' second defeat in all competitions since the 1-0 home loss to Everton back in May, so there's absolutely no reason to start panicking just yet. West Ham have taken to European football like a duck to water with a 100 per cent record in Group H without conceding a goal. And that's the general consensus on this week's episode as James Jones and Will Pugh - in Reece's absence - discuss the win over Vienna and defeat to Brentford in detail. The lads touch on the Vienna fans and the 'trouble' on Thursday night, Peter Bankes' performance in the middle against Brentford, Tomas Soucek's worrying form, Jarrod Bowen's epic fitness levels and much, much more! Despite it being an international break, there's still so much to discuss on this week's show. The lads also chat about PAI Capital's decision to step back from their attempts to buy the club, Sunday's protests and the lovely new statue of Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters outside the stadium. Last week's Betway charity bet selections are reviewed. And lastly, the lads are joined by The Daily Mail's Kathryn Batte, who gave her thoughts on West Ham Women's outstanding 2-0 away victory over Manchester City in the WSL. It's an epic show and plenty to get through so whack the kettle on and enjoy! Hello to all our new listeners! We’ve had a few record-breaking weeks on the listener front this season so welcome. Ep 150150: Winning away & the Europa returns!

West Ham won two fantastic back-to-back away games since the last podcast. A first win at Old Trafford in 14 years followed by a dramatic late winner at Leeds thanks to Michail Antonio. The Carabao Cup win at Man Utd was somewhat dampened by immediately drawing Man City in the next round but the 1-0 win thanks to Manuel Lanzini's early goal was a stunning achievement nonetheless. That was followed by an important 2-1 win at Leeds which the travelling fans loved. But West Ham have no time to rest on their laurels as it's another double header before the next pod. Rapid Vienna roll into town on Thursday for West Ham's first ever home Europa League group stage game. Tom from the 'Other Bundesliga podcast' dials in to give a view on the opposition for that one. Before Billy Grant from the Beesotted pod joins to look ahead to Brentford's first ever visit to the London Stadium on Sunday. Will Pugh is joined by Reece Bayliss and James Jones to discuss all of that and make their Betway charity bets selections after ANOTHER winner in the Leeds game. Our loyal listeners can also win TWO free tickets to the Europa League game at London Stadium on Thursday. Visit @WeAre_WestHam on Twitter to find out how. Ep 149149: He's not the Moyesiah... he's a very naughty boy

In one of the most dramatic and heartbreaking ends to a football match in living memory, David Moyes' decision to sub on Mark Noble to take a last minute penalty against Man Utd backfired in dramatic fashion on Sunday. The Hammers legend hadn't warmed up and was thrust into the action at London Stadium to try and make it 2-2 after ex-West Ham man Jesse Lingard had oh-so predictably broke Hammers hearts - coming off the bench to complete the Red Devils' comeback after Said Benrahma and Cristiano Ronaldo had scored in the first-half. Will Pugh, James Jones and Reece Bayliss discuss the rollercoaster ride and also cover the Irons' historic win at Dinamo Zagreb in their first ever Europa League group game on Thursday. The lads also make their Betway charity bets with some money landing after the Man Utd defeat. Moyes' men have the opportunity for immediate revenge as they travel to Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. SunSport's Kieran Benn dials in to look ahead to the Hammers' visit to Leeds on Saturday before some final thoughts from the boys who then say goodbye for another week. Ep 148148: Dinamo Zagreb, we're coming for you!

West Ham United play their first ever Europa League group stage game away at Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday. And the Hammers cap off a historic week by welcoming a Cristiano Ronaldo led Manchester United to the London Stadium on Sunday. It all comes after a dull 0-0 draw at Southampton in the Premier League where Michail Antonio’s stupid sending off means he will miss the Red Devils’ visit. But the point means David Moyes’ men are unbeaten in their first four Premier League games and are sitting reasonably pretty in seventh. Will Pugh is back from Portugal and is joined by Reece Bayliss for this week’s show with James Jones taking a holiday of his own. The lads react to the Saints draw and ask if Craig Dawson’s time is up with Kurt Zouma surprisingly left on the bench. There are TWO opposition views as Lovre Nikolac from the Croatian Football Podcast dials in from Dalmatia to let West Ham fans know what to expect from Zagreb. And sports journalist Matt Beadle gives the Man Utd perspective with the Reds looking strong domestically after Ronaldo’s arrival. The boys of course make their Betway charity bet selections. And discuss West Ham Women who've had a disappointing start to the season – losing 2-0 at Brighton on the opening day before late heartbreak in week two saw Aston Villa equalise at the death in a 1-1 draw. All in all, it’s a fantastic show at the start of a historic week for the Hammers. Hello to all our new listeners, we’ve had a couple of record breaking weeks on the listener front so welcome. Ep 147147: West Ham's striker myth, International Break and a chat with BGT finalist James Smith

Not long now before the return of 'proper football' as the latest round of World Cup qualifiers take centre-stage. West Ham have no fewer than 10 players out on international duty, including our three newest recruits - Kurt Zouma, Nikola Vlasic and Alex Kral. Declan Rice has obviously grabbed most of the headlines after scoring in the 4-0 win away at Hungary and winding up the Hungarian ultras in the process, while Antonio made his international bow for Jamaica in a 3-0 defeat to Panama last weekend. But while we do cover a bit of that on this week's episode, much of it involves James and Reece ripping apart a recent Daily Mail article that claimed Vlasic was the club's 50th striker signing in the GSB era, even though he's not a striker and half of the players they've included in the list are either midfielders, wingers or youngsters who never made a first-team appearance. The article particularly annoyed James who, despite acknowledging the fact West Ham's inability to sign a proper striker is definitely real, was desperate to set the record straight on this week's show. Also this week, in the absence of Will - who is currently having a rubbish holiday in Portugal - James steers the ship and manages not to fumble his words, while he's also joined by 2015 Britain's Got Talent Finalist James Smith, who is a huge West Ham fan. The brilliant James Smith is currently working on his debut album and his new single 'Got The Love' is a track you really need to get in your ears! Unfortunately, there is no Opposition View or West Ham Women's Section this week, but this is still an episode you don't want to miss! Thanks so much for listening! Ep 146146: Europa draw, point vs Palace & what a window!

West Ham are still in the Europa League group stage! It's not a dream. And that was proved by Friday's draw when the Hammers were picked to play against Dinamo Zagreb, Genk and Rapid Vienna. It's an exciting time to be a West Ham fan and even Saturday's slightly disappointing 2-2 home draw with Crystal Palace couldn't put a dent in most Hammers' positive vibes. So imagine how they felt when the club actually made three signings in the last week of the transfer window! Kurt Zouma arrived from Chelsea, Nikola Vlasic from CSKA Moscow and Alex Kral from Spartak Moscow. Still no striker but all in all, it was a solid enough window and with Irons fans' expectations on the floor in recent times, there seemed a pretty buoyant mood among the fanbase after Tuesday's deadline. Will Pugh is joined by James Jones and Reece Bayliss to discuss all of that and more. There's Palace reaction, Betway charity bets, West Ham Women with the Daily Mail's Kathryn Batte, a quiz and plenty beyond. Thanks so much for listening! Ep 145145: Cottee backs PAI and West Ham top the Prem

WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE! WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE! That's right, after thrashing Newcastle on the opening weekend of the season, the lads followed it up by THRASHING Leicester City in front of a packed London Stadium on Monday. Two games played. Eight goals scored. Top of the Premier League. WE ARE MASSIVE! What's more, Michail Antonio is now the club's all-time leading Premier League goalscorer, Said Benrahma just keeps getting better and better, and Pablo Fornals put in arguably his best performance in claret & blue (and thankfully his leg isn't broken, either!). So on this week's show, the lads welcome Reece Bayliss to the team as they react to that HUGE win against Leicester and have a pretty difficult time trying to pick their Man of the Match. It was really was that perfect. Also this week, Tony Cottee returns to give us the lowdown on why he's backing PAI Capital's takeover bid, giving us his first official interview since going public with his endorsement of PAI's plans to buy the club, while James and Will spend some time reacting to his interview. We're also joined by Max Matthews - sports journalist and Crystal Palace fans - to preview this Saturday's home clash with Patrick Vieira's side. Can we make it three from three going in to the international break? And as always, the lads discuss their Betway Charity Bets ahead of the Palace game. It's a packed show, full of positivity and anticipation for what's to come under this wonderful era under David Moyes. How could it get even better!? Thanks so much for listening! Ep 144144: Toon, takeover and transfer talk with two hours of Tony (Cottee)

West Ham legend Tony Cottee joins the lads for the ENTIRE two hour show as he steps in as the third member of We Are West Ham. The Hammers icon opens up about his departure from Sky Sports after 20 years, answers questions surrounding his involvement with the PAI Capital takeover bid, reveals his concerns over the lack of summer transfers and looks ahead to his old club Leicester's visit to the London Stadium on Monday night. West Ham got their season off to a perfect start with a 4-2 win at St James' Park against Newcastle on Sunday thanks to goals from magic Aaron Cresswell, super Tomas Soucek, silky Said Benrahma and marvellous Michail Antonio. Will Pugh, James Jones and Tony react to the fantastic win as well as analysing any areas they'd like to see improved. The Betway charity bets return and the boys have already had a winner! Ans the lads make their selections for the Foxes game. Having scored 34 goals for Leicester in 100 games between 1997 and 2000, and still working for them now, Tony provides an excellent opposition view and gives a run down of what to expect from Brendan Rodgers' team. And the show wraps up with a Q&A where Tony answers questions on anything and everything from the boys and the We Are West Ham listeners. All of that and so much more. It's an absolute corker of an episode. Thanks so much for listening. Ep 143143: Atalanta at a canter & The Prem is back!

The We Are West Ham podcast is back! Will Pugh and James Jones said goodbye to Tom Edwards over the summer but say hello to an exciting new Premier League campaign. The boys will be back producing weekly shows with special guests and features as they attempt to take the podcast to new heights in 2021-22. Messrs Gold, Sullivan, Moyes, Rice and Noble et al will hopefully be trying to do the same to West Ham United as they look forward to a fully fledged European campaign. Still no outfield players have been signed, but having gone a full pre-season unbeaten, the players in David Moyes' squad have shown they are willing to do their part even if they are left short of team-mates. Will attended the glorious Betway Cup win over Champions League side Atalanta at London Stadium on Saturday and the boys have a right old debrief. Chad Yeomans presented the trophy to Mark Noble after the game and he dials in to kick-off the first Betway charity bet section of the season. And ahead of West Ham's opening game of the campaign against Newcastle AGAIN, The Athletic's Magpies correspondent Chris Waugh joins in to give the lowdown on the hosts ahead of the opening day clash at St James' Park. Will and Jonesy sum up their pre-season expectations and pick their projected star and flop of the campaign. The West Ham Women segment will return but a little closer to the season. And then the boys say goodbye for another week. Thanks so much for listening. You can follow We Are West Ham on Twitter HERE. The lads can be found @WilliamPugh_, and @ByJamesJones. Ep 142142: GSB vs PAI (Capital)

Will Pugh and James Jones stop by for their last informal chat of the summer break. The lads cover West Ham’s transfer activity. Stop laughing. Lingard, Milenkovic, Pereira and Zouma come up. Manuel Lanzini and Conor Coventry’s future in the side gets analysed. As does West Ham’s goalkeeper situation after Alphonse Areola’s arrival. The takeover story involving PAI Capital has developed since the last podcast which the boys evaluate. And they wrap up with a summary of the Irons’ pre-season campaign including the Brentford game at their stunning new stadium. Podcasts will be back to weekly from next week when normal service will resume. Hope everyone's doing ok. You can follow We Are West Ham on Twitter HERE. Ep 141141: Takeover, shmakeover

Will Pugh and James Jones stop by for another quick chat in the middle of the summer break. The lads cover England’s Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy at Wembley that Jonesy was lucky enough to attend. West Ham’s wonderful new kit gets a mention as do Michail Antonio, Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals’ shirt number switches. The lads run through some of the recent transfer rumours – namely Jesse Lingard’s return from Man Utd, Tammy Abraham’s potential arrival from Chelsea and the prospective departures of Jarrod Bowen and Issa Diop. Will also gives a run down of his exclusive story regarding Felipe Anderson’s departure to Lazio and the subsequent funds that have been freed up as a result and how the club will have those available to them in negotiations with Declan Rice. Takeover rumours have surfaced again which the boys evaluate before wrapping up with a summary of the Irons’ pre-season friendlies so far. Ep 137137: Whelming at West Ham

West Ham failed to beat Brighton on Saturday. Again. It's a pathetic record and the latest installment in the tragic Seagull saga had far bigger ramifications for West Ham's season as it all but killed their Champions League hopes. It turns out that dream officially died just as Will Pugh, Tom Edwards and James Jones wrapped up this podcast as Chelsea beat Leicester at home. Unfortunately after the 1-1 draw at the Amex, the Hammers also made it bloody hard for themselves to qualify for the Europa League as they slipped to seventh behind Tottenham. Spurs still meet Leicester who will be scrapping for their own Champions League spot so it's still all to play for but West Ham HAVE to win their last two to stand a chance at Europa. West Brom and Southampton are left with neither having anything to play for. Jack Rosser from the Evening Standard joins the lads to discuss his beloved Saints' visit to London Stadium on Sunday. The boys make their final Betway charity bets of the season. And Will Pugh is quizmaster for Name That Game. The Sun's Sandra Brobbey dials in one more time to discuss West Ham Women's season officially finishing with a 5-1 FA Cup thrashing at Man City. And the boys wrap up with some final thoughts before a rallying call to drive the Irons to the end of the season. Thanks so much for listening. You can follow We Are West Ham on Twitter HERE. Ep 136136: The Italian Allardyce - ft. West Ham icon Martin Allen

The Champions League dream isn't dead just yet, but it's a lot further away than it was a week ago. Sunday's defeat to Everton and Leicester's win at Old Trafford means a miracle might need to happen for West Ham to secure a top-four spot, but a top-six finish is still well and truly in our sights, which is obviously something we would never have dreamed of at the beginning of the season. It wasn't the worst performance against the Toffees and the Hammers probably didn't deserve to lose in the end, but we now have three huge and winnable games left to finish the season with momentum. On this week's show, the lads take a look back at the Everton performance and are also joined by ex-Hammer Martin Allen, who has plenty to say on the season, Manuel Lanzini, Said Benrahma and what needs to be done in the summer. Also on the show this week, Liam from Albion Analytics joins us to preview Saturday's trip to the AMEX, the lads make their Betway Charity bet selections, Tom is Name That Game Quizmaster and friend of the show and WSL expert, Isabelle Barker, joins us to chat all things West Ham Women. Ep 135135: It's now or n-Everton

West Ham beat Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor on Monday to keep their Champions League dream alive. The Hammers went behind to a Chris Wood (shock) penalty but Michail Antonio returned to the team with a bang as he scored twice to complete West Ham's comeback before half-time. David Moyes' side absolutely dominated the Clarets and should really have scored more but on this occasion, who cares! With the Irons fifth with just four games to go and a real chance of closing the three-point gap on fourth place Chelsea, Will Pugh is joined by James Jones and Tom Edwards to dare to dream once again. The lads look back at Monday's win, heap praise on Manuel Lanzini and ask: 'Should fans be loving or hating Issa Diop and Said Benrahma?' Tony Scott - host of All Together Now Everton podcast - dials in to look ahead to what could be the first of four historic games for West Ham as the eighth placed Toffees visit the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The boys make their Betway charity bet selections for the game and James Jones takes the hotseat for one of the most shambolic games of Name That Game ever. And finally West Ham Women season ticket holder Michelle returns to celebrate the girls all but securing their WSL survival with a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa on Sunday. Ep 134134: What the reffing hell was that?! - ft. Mark Halsey

West Ham were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Chelsea on Saturday as their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League took a severe knock. The Hammers lack of January transfer activity appears to be catching up with them. But most of that was forgotten after the game because ten minutes from time referee Chris Kavanagh made the most inexplicable decision ever when he decided to send Fabian Balbuena off for kicking the football during a game of... wait for it... football. It was a disgrace and a scandal and another knife in the heart of our great game and decisions like it, along with the appalling application of VAR, are ruining our sport. Former Premier League ref Mark Halsey makes his We Are West Ham debut to give his take on the decision and he does not pull any punches. Will Pugh, Jame Jones and Tom Edwards are reunited after three weeks where at least one of the lads was absent. The guys review the Chelsea game in finite detail. The Name That Game quiz returns. And the boys make their Betway charity bets for the Burnley game before Simon Townley from the Turfcast podcast dials in for the opposition view. West Ham Women season ticket holder Michelle joins to wrap up the show and toast another point for the girls in their push toward WSL survival. Thanks so much for listening. Ep 133133: Power to the people - We beat the billionaires

Has there ever been a crazier 48 hours in football? On Sunday night we were all hit by the bombshell that 12 greedy European football clubs were intending to break away and form a closed-shop European Super League, threatening the very future of the sport as we know it. And then by the time we sat down to record this episode on Tuesday evening, it was all beginning to fall apart as Chelsea and Man City pulled out, Man Utd announced Ed Woodward was going to leave the club and football fans began to celebrate what is increasingly looking like a victory for football and a victory for integrity. All the quick developments on Tuesday evening meant that a lot of it was going on as we were recording, so apologies if it sounds a bit disjointed at times. We tried our very best for it to make it all make sense. On the show this week, we were joined by former West Ham goalkeeper and co-host of the Footy Prime podcast, Craig Forrest, who was very vocal about the ESL on Sunday night and used our chat to blow off some steam about how he feels about the whole thing. Forrest also discussed Lukasz Fabianski’s mistake against Newcastle last weekend and what he thinks the future holds for our No.1. Also this week, The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas joined us for a chat about the ESL, the board and the season so far, and David Chidgey from the Chelsea FanCast helps us preview the weekend’s game against the Blues as well as talking through his views as a fan of one of the ESL clubs. Finally, James and Will chat through their Betway Charity Bets for the Chelsea game and we discuss West Ham Women’s recent two results, including that 11-0 FA Cup win over Chichester City. It’s another action-packed show and well worth a listen as we and the rest of football continue to digest what has happened in football over the last 72 hours. Thanks so much for listening. Ep 132132: Take a Bowen son

West Ham beat Leicester in mirror image fashion to last week's victory over Wolves. The Hammers took a 3-0 lead through Jesse Lingard's first-half brace and Jarrod Bowen's strike just after half-time. But in what is rapidly becoming typical fashion, the Irons let the Foxes back in the game and Kelechi Iheanacho's two goals made for a nervy finish. However David Moyes' men held on for a spectacular victory and three points that put them back in fourth and just one point off third placed Leicester with seven games of the season remaining. Will Pugh is joined by Tom Edwards this week to look back on the game as well as looking forward to Saturday's trip to Newcastle. James Jones phoned in sick so it's a two-man show until Jack Rosser from the Evening Standard dials in to give the from-stadium view on the Leicester win. The lads celebrate the biggest win of the season with the Betway charity bets as Jonesy bagged a 40/1 shot to net £2,000 for the DT38 Foundation. Matt Ketch from the Newcastle Chronicle joins to look ahead to West Ham's visit to St James' Park to face the relegation threatened Toon on Saturday lunch time. Will and Tom wrap up the show with a jam-packed West Ham Women section with some huge games approaching. Thanks so much for listening. You can follow We Are West Ham on Twitter HERE. Ep 131131: All hail Lionel Jesse

West Ham raced into a 3-0 first-half lead again on Monday night against Wolves at Molinuex. And they almost threw it away for the second week running too. But driven on by captain fantastic Mark Noble and the Mancunian Maradona Jesse Lingard, the Hammers dug deep and only conceded two to walk away with all three points and go fourth in the Premier League with just eight games to go. Will Pugh is back in the hotseat after having surgery last week and is joined by James Jones and Tom Edwards as usual. West Ham correspondent Tom Clark from Football London dials in to look back on the Wolves win having covered the game from the stadium. The boys make their selections for the Betway charity bets. And former show host Jake Watson also joins the lads for the opposition view as West Ham host Leicester on Sunday in a Champions League qualification showdown. Tom plays host for the worst episode of Name That Game in history before the lads rejoice in West Ham Women’s 5-0 thrashing of Reading to lift themselves off the bottom of the WSL. They wrap up with a Fantasy round up before saying goodbye for another week. Thanks so much for listening. You can follow We Are West Ham on Twitter HERE. Ep 130130: The world's most expensive potato salad?

It's been a relatively quiet international break from a West Ham point of view, but three of our players have still be making headlines on the international stage over the last week or two. Tomas Soucek kicked it all off with a perfect hat-trick in Czech Republic's 6-2 win over Estonia last week, and then Jesse Lingard and Declan Rice put in Man of the Match performances for England against San Marino and Albania respectively. It capped off a wonderful week of international football for our three most in-form players this season, meaning international football has turned claret and blue once again. On this week's show, James steps into the presenting hot seat in Will's absence as he and Tom comb over all the big international break stories. The lads also discuss a handful of transfer rumours involving the club, including the danger of big clubs coming in for Tomas Soucek this summer - just how much is he worth right now!? Also this week, James and Tom are joined by Matt from the Wolves Fancast to preview Monday night's game at Wolves and friend of the show Kathryn Batte calls in to discuss West Ham Women's 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford and their increasingly precarious position at the foot of the WSL league table. All that and loads more this week as we enter a huge few months in the club's history. Can we secure European football or will the season end in bitter disappointment? Thanks so much to all of you for listening, it means the world to us. Ep 129129: Pain in the Arsenal - ft. The Guardian's Jacob Steinberg

West Ham threw away a 3-0, yes THREE NIL, lead against Arsenal on Sunday and ended the game clinging on to a 3-3 draw. Jesse Lingard was one of few bright sparks as the Hammers fell to bits having raced into a convincing lead within 35 minutes. But the outstanding Alexandre Lacazette, Calum Chambers and Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard led the Gunners in their dramatic comeback at the London Stadium. An irate Will Pugh is joined by a pragmatic James Jones and a freshly shaven Tom Edwards to discuss the draw that felt like a defeat. Will makes a We Are West Ham announcement to mark one year since the boys stopped doing the show as a live radio broadcast and started the podcast from home as a result of lockdown. Top football journalist and West Ham fan Jacob Steinberg from the Guardian dials in to chat to the lads just a week after Tom went after him on Twitter for his post-Man Utd opinions. Jacob defends his views on Said Benrahma and debates whether he is overrated, sticks up for David Moyes in the face of criticism from some fans and predicts whether or not the mighty Irons will finish in Europe this season. The guys look back on their agonisingly close Betway charity bet selections and preview which West Ham players are doing what and going where during the international break. James Jones is in the quizmaster’s seat for the Name That Game quiz with a belter from the early 2010s. And sports journalist and WSL expert Sandra Brobbey from The Sun joins the lads to discuss the excellent news about the WSL’s new broadcast deal. And West Ham Women’s heartbreaking draw with Birmingham that saw the Blues grab a 94th minute equaliser as well as Saturday's game against Man Utd at Old Trafford. Ep 128128: Holy (balance) sheet! - ft. 1975 FA Cup winner Patsy Holland

West Ham lost 1-0 at Manchester United on Sunday night and it’s fair to say the reaction to David Moyes’ set up after the game was varied. A particular tweet from The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg suggesting criticism of Moyes was ‘pathetic’ and that perhaps Said Benrahma is not as good as some fans like to think he is was met with fury. Tom Edwards was particularly angry while Will Pugh happened to agree with some of his points. And this leads to a fiery start to the show with the pair going head to head early on. West Ham’s accounts for the financial year up to May 2020 were also released last week and conveniently wedged between announcements about Mark Noble’s impending departure and Lukasz Fabianski signing a new contract. Football finance expert David Bick joins Will, Tom and James Jones to discuss the headline figures, the impact of Covid, profits and losses, Karren Brady’s potential salary and of course interest charged on loans by David Gold and David Sullivan. The lads make their Betway charity bet selections before Pat Holland - European Cup Winners Cup and FA Cup winner with West Ham and former Arsenal scout – dials in to look ahead to the Gunners’ visit to London Stadium on Sunday. Will Pugh is the quizmaster for Name That Game. Daily Mail journalist Kathryn Batte joins to discuss the West Ham Women and their WSL relegation battle. And the boys sign off with some final thoughts and a Fantasy Premier League update. Please RATE and SUBSCRIBE if you like what we do. You can follow We Are West Ham on Twitter HERE.
