Lie #53: I Don't Feel Good Enough for God

This is week 3 in my 4-week series based on my free Know Your Worth Study and I’m addressing the lie that we’re not good enough for God. There is a common war I see in many of us - the war between who you are in Christ and who you think you should be. To help unravel this lie, I’m discussing the topics of repentance, restoration, redemption, sanctification, and preparation. Our idea of “good enough” often becomes based on our merits. But we don't get to create the measure of what is considered good enough - God is the One who sets the standard for what is good and what is not. When we make the wrong move, make a mistake, turn to the wrong thing, our sin may have an earthly consequence, but our sin doesn't separate us from the Father's love.Full show notes for this episode can be found at jessicahottle.com!Don’t forget to sign up now to get my free 4-week Know Your Worth Study!Follow Jessica: website | instagram | freebies

Truth Talk: Studying the Bible - Part 3: Digger Deeper + Study the Details

This Truth Talk is the third in our 4-part series based on my free Know Your Worth Study. For the past two weeks, we’ve been discussing how we can get the most out of reading the Bible. Studying the details helps the big picture come to life. You begin to understand who the author is writing to and the audience it is for. I admit this can seem overwhelming, but feeling lost or confused means room for growth. Knowledge of who God is and His Word build confidence to share your faith. And remember to give yourself grace - studying creates intimacy and intimacy deepens the relationship. Lie #52: God is Disappointed in Me

In this episode, I’m breaking down the second lie in a 4-week series based on my free Know Your Worth Study by taking a more in-depth look as to what happened after the cross. Mistakes lead us to believe that God is disappointed in us. As if every time we get it wrong, He pulls farther away. That's a lie. Our sin cannot separate us from Him because that's not the lens God uses to see you. He sees you through His son, Jesus.Full show notes for this episode can be found at jessicahottle.com!Don’t forget to sign up now to get my free 4-week Know Your Worth Study!Follow Jessica: website | instagram | freebies

Truth Talk: Studying the Bible - Part 2: Types of Writing

This Truth Talk is the second in our 4-part series based on my free Know Your Worth Study. Today I’m focusing on the types of writing, the themes, and the metanarrative in the Bible. As believers, “metanarrative” means the big story - the overarching story behind the smaller stories found in scripture. God is the main character of the story. Every book, story, and line of scripture we read is about Him and a part of His story. Full show notes for this episode can be found at jessicahottle.com! Lie #51: God Doesn't Love Me

In part two of the series based on my free Know Your Worth Study we’re debunking the lie “God doesn’t love me.” Love can be relative to every person based on their life story. So many times we let what we think of love to be defined by our experiences instead of the unfailing, unconditional love of Christ. Our biggest problem isn't the mistakes we made as much as it is receiving and believing with our whole heart the love displayed on the cross. Lie #49: I Don’t Matter with Kerrah Fabacher

In Lie #49 I’m talking with Licensed Professional Counselor Kerrah Fabacher about a lie we may not even realize we’re believing - I don’t matter. Sometimes this lie creeps into our subconscious subtly through things like comparing ourselves to others on social media; sometimes it comes from people around us not responding the way we would like them to or the trauma they’ve inflicted upon us. It’s a lie that roots itself deep and can affect our relationships, including our relationship with Jesus. In this episode, Kerrah helps identify different verbal and non-verbal cues that can help us identify when someone is struggling with self-worth and runs through how this belief might be affecting your daily life. She also offers some encouragement and practical advice on how to replace this lie with God’s truth. Full show notes for this episode can be found at jessicahottle.com! Lie #48: I Need To Prove My Point

I might be stepping on a few toes as I discuss a lie that is prevalent in society today - I need to prove my point. Spend a few minutes on social media or in a comments section and you’ll see that we’ve come to a place where thoughtful discussions have turned into hateful arguments and disagreements have morphed into disconnection instead of understanding. The truth is that there will always be differing opinions, but God has called us to love one another and his word trumps our opinion. A point proven is not worth a heart lost. Truth Talk: Is God in the Bad?

This Truth Talk was inspired by the story of Aaron’s rod turning into a serpent in Exodus 7 where we see God working in the middle of a bad situation. In this episode I discuss five things that jumped out to me from this passage that we can apply to our lives when we seem to be facing the impossible. Remember, God is in the bad, but he doesn’t cause it. He’s bigger than anything we’re up against and He’s already won so we can rest in a place of victory. Truth Talk: Fast-Food Christianity

Today’s Truth Talk is based on a sermon I heard about "fast-food Christianity". You pull up in the drive-thru and order what you want, then you wait. And when you don’t get what you order or they leave something out, it’s frustrating. But that’s how we treat Christianity. When we pray, wait and things don’t work out the way we think they should, we begin to question who God is. Take a moment today to check where your heart is.
