4,000 people. That's how many were executed at the directive of Governor Kodos of the failed Tarsus IV after a fungus destroyed most of the colony's food supply leaving 8,000 colonists to starve to death. Kodos ordered the deaths of the 4,000 so the other 4,000 colonists might live. Among those survivors was James T. Kirk and, now, he's left with the task of figuring out if actor Anton Karidian is really Kodos the Executioner. This week, we'll discuss this classic TOS episode and why it was one of Bill's favorites, even as a child. "Dear Doctor" was the thirteenth episode of Enterprise (later to be renamed Star Trek: Enterprise) and it presented an interesting dilemma for the Chief Medical Officer and Captain of the NX-01. It's an episode that presents our characters with changing the evolution of an entire race and the potential ramifications. This is a fantastic episode of Enterprise and we'll tell you why we love it--and why it took us almost 17 years to rewatch it. Man, has this guy been through a lot. Ensign Harry Kim of the Starship Voyager. Operations Officer of the only Starfleet vessel in the Delta Quadrant. In seven years, he has seen a lot of things happen. The problem is, they've happened to him. Harry could be the most abused character in the history of Star Trek and, this week, Dan and Bill will take a look at the oft-tortured and long-suffering ensign. Back in 2003, Enterprise aired an episode featuring the Borg! It was a controversial move among fans. The Borg weren't introduced until season 2 of Star Trek: The Next Generation--and event which wouldn't happen in the timeline for another 175 years or more. The passing of the baton. In 1994, Paramount debuted the first of the movies to feature the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. It would serve as a bridge for the two generations of the franchise and do so in epic fashion! ...but did it? "Equinox" premiered in May of 1999 and told the story of a second Starfleet ship stranded in the Delta Quadrant, the U.S.S. Equinox, and its crew has been doing some very dark things to get home. With just 11 days before the start of a copyright infringement trial, Axanar Productions and Alec Peters announced they had settled the lawsuit brought against them by CBS and Paramount Pictures. It was a case that had taken many twists and turns, ultimately revealing in court filings that the "Independent Star Trek Film" was out of money, having spent $1,400,000.00 with nothing to show for it. Joining us to talk about the settlement is screenwriter and producer Carlos Pedraza--the principal behind AxaMonitor.com--the fact-checking and reporting that was created in the wake of the lawsuit against Axanar Productions and Alec Peters. He is also a former educator, Associated Press writer, and Fan Film Producer---three past lives which have all added a unique and wonderful perspective to his coverage of this whole mess. We'll discuss what this agreement means for the beleaguered production and what will happen to the film itself.
