HEADLINE: Judge fines Donald Trump more than $350 million, bars him from running businesses in N.Y. for three years by Adam Reiss and Dareh Gregorian  Judge Arthur Engoron ordered the former president and the Trump Organization to pay over $354 million in damages, and barred Trump “from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation or other legal entity in New York for a period of three years,” including his namesake company. The judge’s decision is a potential blow to both Trump’s finances and persona — having built his brand on being a successful businessman that he leveraged in his first run for president. Trump is currently running for the White House for a third time. This case is just one of many he is currently facing, including four separate pending criminal trials, the first of which is scheduled to begin on March 25. Judge Engoron also ordered the continued “appointment of an Independent Monitor” and the “the installation of an Independent Director of Compliance” for the company. There was no crime. No injured party. So how can remorse be shown? Why should remorse be shown when no crime was committed?  The ruling also bars the Trump sons — who’ve been running the company since their father went to the White House — “from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation or other legal entity in New York for a period of two years.” Both were fined over $4 million, plus interest, for their roles in the scheme. Trump can just appeal this right? What does an appeal look like? He can appeal the verdict to an appeal court but he still has to pay. He will have to post money to appeal, so he will have to post a portion of that $364 million. He will have to put a bond up equal to $364 million. So who will bond someone that kind of money? He also cannot borrow from any bank headquartered in NY. 25m Truckers for Trump Out of the 3.5 million truckers in the United States, only 1.8 million are employees of trucking companies.  So that means 1.7 million are owner operated. But the columnist insists it’s “bordering on unconscionable” that a federal appeals panel has yet to render a decision on Trump’s claim. It’s been nearly a month, after all.  So this happened yesterday – there is still a panel that will hear his appeal. If the panel refuses he will appeal to the Supreme Court. The mistake was made when SCOTUS refused to hear the appeals coming out of PA, NC, MI, and WI on mail-in ballots. They should have heard these cases. If they would have taken that case, none of this would have happened. The Biden Coup would have failed it they would have heard this case. If Roberts would have taken the case and settled this once and for all, they wouldn’t be facing any of this. State Legislatures make time, place and method of voting…not the people.  Here is where it gets really interesting.  Jonathan Turley: This is the result some of us predicted. The panel was very skeptical of these arguments. What former President Trump was advancing was a sweeping and unprecedented claim of immunity, and it’s not surprising that this panel rejected it. The interesting thing about this opinion is that they cite the impeachment and quote from it as saying that the president sought to incite this effort to overturn the election. And that’s going to go forward. The most practical impact of this appeal was indeed the delay that it caused. It was very important for the Trump team to try to push this trial back. They succeeded in doing that, as you mentioned. Now, the next stage here is that they can ask for review of the entire court, what’s called en banc petition. That has to be reviewed and voted on even if they reject it, and that will take some time. And then they will no doubt appeal to the Supreme Court, which now has a considerable stack on the desks of these justices, including election-related cases.  The interesting dynamic about this case is that Jack Smith is telling every court it’s absolutely urgent that we move this trial forward. And he made it clear that he wants this president tried and convicted before the election. The Supreme Court clearly didn’t share that urgency. It refused to do that. And so it’s not clear that they’re going to feel even greater urgency now. The March date is not on the calendar anymore. And as we move towards the election date, it gets more controversial to have a trial of this kind within a couple of months of the election. So we’ll have to see how the Supreme Court deals with this. The outcome is not surprising for many of us, but what remains the unknown is how this will change the schedule and dynamic of the case. One party is living in the real world and the other is living in an alternate reality.  As a result of Biden’s name not being printed on the ballot, his supporters had to write in his name. With 88% of the vote in, Biden has received 37,597 votes. That is 37.7% of the vote total.  The closest candidate to Biden was Representative Dean Phillips (D-Minn.). Phillips received 19,917 votes or 19.8%. Donald Trump w/ 91% of the votes in got 163,700 or 54.5%. Nikki Haley w/ 91% of the votes tallies got 129,646 or 43.2%. Trump has officially won New Hampshire 3 times now. That is a record for any presidential candidate. I truly think Nikki Haley is working w/ the Democrats. But here is a question – did Vivek Ramaswamy and Donald Trump have some sort of meeting prior to this cycle? How many of you are fans of the TV show Survivor? What do the players do to survive until the end? They form alliances.  If you start thinking objectively about the campaign of Vivek, I think one could consider the possibility of the two teaming up. Didn’t Vivek speak out several times at the debates that Trump was being wrongfully prosecuted and persecuted? He also stated a few times the same things Trump wanted and was running on. He also stated a few times how great of a president Trump was. Was there some sort of an alliance made to keep Trumps name out in the MSM while he was dealing w/ the court cases? It was nearly a complete sweep of Iowa for Donald Trump. Johnson County Iowa –  It is the county that took the major win for Joe Biden over Donald Trump back in the day. Last night they claimed that this county went to Nikki Haley. When you do a deep dive into that particular county you will see that Haley had 35.5% and Trump had 35.5% so how can a winner be determined if they are tied? HEADLINE: Nikki Haley beats Donald Trump in Johnson County Iowa Caucus by a single vote by Ryan Hansen   Haley snuck by Trump by a single tally in Johnson County, earning 1,271 votes (35.5 percent) in what may be Trump’s only county loss. Former president Trump garnered 1,270 votes, according to preliminary results from the state GOP.  26m HEADLINE: Filing alleges ‘improper’ relationship between Fulton DA, top Trump prosecutor by Bill Rankin and Tamar Hallerman  District Attorney Fani Willis improperly hired an alleged romantic partner to prosecute Donald Trump and financially benefited from their relationship, according to a court motion filed Monday which argued the criminal charges in the case were unconstitutional.  The bombshell public filing alleged that special prosecutor Nathan Wade, a private attorney, paid for lavish vacations he took with Willis using the Fulton County funds his law firm received. County records show that Wade, who has played a prominent role in the election interference case, has been paid nearly $654,000 in legal fees since January 2022. The DA authorizes his compensation. This is a massive change in direction in Trump’s case. She then went to an all black church and explained, not everyone is perfect and they are persecuting her b/c she is a strong black female.  If the allegation is true in any way shape or form – it doesn’t matter how much was spent, if she benefited in any way, the Trump campaign will immediately seek the case be thrown out. The decision in Dobbs sent the issue of abortion back to the individual states, where some states have passed greater restrictions while others have expanded abortion access even further. Several states have seen abortion approved by voters via statewide ballot referendums, even in traditionally Republican states such as Kansas, Montana, and Kentucky. However, all three of these states, and others in 2022, saw a significant undervote in all other statewide elections that same year compared to the number of voters who cast a ballot on the abortion question. In Fact, Nothing Lasts Forever was the sequel to Thorp’s 1966 novel The Detective, which featured the same main character and was also made into an eponymous movie in 1968 starring Frank Sinatra. Though “The Detective” was actually one of the biggest hits of 1968, it’s been largely forgotten in the decades since. Nonetheless, it’s interesting to contemplate that Bruce Willis’ performance in “Die Hard” is picking up where Sinatra left off. This was a Thorp novel! If just being set at Christmas time makes it a Christmas movie, then Gremlins is a Christmas movie. Iron Man 3 is also set at Christmas time. Mel Gibson himself has joked about how prevalent the trend was starting in the ’80s, telling E! News, “Set it at Christmas! Lots of snow, funny little songs, music to kill by, you know?” The Last Boy Scout –  One of the most obvious “Die Hard” rip-offs of the era rarely gets credited as such. “Home Alone” is obviously family entertainment, the action is decidedly looney tunes, and it’s such an ingenious comedy in its own right there’s a reason it doesn’t usually invite direct comparisons to “Die Hard” (though I’m hardly the first guy to notice).
