As a lawyer for women’s issues and former deputy solicitor general for Ohio, I see what this amendment aims to do: require abortions to be provided throughout pregnancy, remove Ohio’s laws governing parental notification and unethical abortive procedures, and create constitutional requirements for transgender procedures for minors. When it is an issue of life or death, it should just be illegal.  It shouldn’t get to the states for a vote. There is no ethical way to abort a baby. They added a constitutional requirement for transgender procedures for minors in this Issue 1 too. ‘generally need’ and ‘could stay in place’ were used in explaining that minors needed parental consent for an abortion or transgender mutilation. The proposed amendment provides an “individual” with the “right to make and carry out one’s own reproductive decisions.”  The term “reproductive decisions” is left undefined, so it means (to state the obvious) decisions related to one’s reproduction, including decisions involving puberty blockers or irreversible transgender interventions for minors. This is ledger domain –  What is ‘to guarantee reproductive rights’? This ambiguous wording allows Judges to make decisions on this later in courts! In simpler terms, it means that any law or even local policy that affects abortion or “reproductive decisions” is banned, unless the government can prove it absolutely needs the law to protect the patient. My good people in Ohio – just vote NO! You don’t want to amend your Constitution for this. You would become California-Lite or Vermont-Lite. All things can’t be put to a vote. God made you w/ inherent rights….like LIFE! In fact, on his newest disclosure he doesn’t list a single asset at all.  Over the course of seven years, Johnson has never reported a checking or savings account in his name, nor in the name of his wife or any of his children, disclosures show. In fact, he doesn’t appear to have money stashed in any investments, with his latest filing —covering 2022—showing no assets whatsoever.  Of course, it’s unlikely Johnson doesn’t actually have a bank account. What’s more likely is Johnson lives paycheck to paycheck—so much so that he doesn’t have enough money in his bank account to trigger the checking account disclosure rules for members of Congress. House Ethics Committee filing guidelines state that members must disclose bank accounts they have at every financial institution, as long as the account holds at least $1,000 and the combined value of all accounts—including those belonging to their spouse and dependent children—exceeds $5,000. So he isn’t the average Congressman and that raises questions? He doesn’t play the stock market, he doesn’t have millions stashed away from lobbyist.  So he is basically frugal w/ his money and they can’t understand why someone would do that. The average American does this but they are so far removed from how the average American lives, this is a red flag for them. “One of the reasons we have these financial disclosures is to know whether politicians are having financial difficulties—which could make them ripe for influence buying,” Libowitz said. Hezbollah and Syria should begin a general bombardment of Israeli leadership and military targets, with an emphasis on destroying Israeli airfields and military concentrations. The gist of what he was saying is that nobody is going to ride from Rome or anywhere else to their rescue. The best answer available to any of us — Catholic and otherwise — is to build strong families, strong local communities of belief and practice, and to network those communities to create a resilient church body, even across confessional lines. This is the ONLY way Trump can get away with this….he must come out and say, LEAVE IT UP TO THE STATES. I believe life begins at conception and I believe we should protect them.
