HEADLINE: A Truly ‘Impartial Jury’ Is Hard To Come By by Jordan Boyd I was surprised by the number of potential jurors in the pool with me who admitted to the prosecution and defense that they couldn’t be impartial or presume innocence in a sex crime case for various reasons. A few knew or knew of the defendant. Others raised their hand and said they had bad personal experiences with sexual assault or were inclined to “believe all women.” Less than one hour into deliberations, five of the six jurors including myself determined the defendant was not guilty on both counts. After another hour of review and debate, the sixth juror, who admitted to us that his feelings about his wife’s own history with sexual assault were affecting his ability to be objective, agreed the evidence did not prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Thanks  to the impartiality and presumption of innocence unless or until guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt, a legally innocent man in a Texas city walks free. California calls electric cars “zero emissions vehicles” because they don’t have tailpipes. That is deceptive though. Generating the electricity that powers those cars creates particulate pollution, and of course electric cars still use tires, which are made from petroleum. Electric cars weigh far more than gasoline-powered ones, so their tires degrade faster. The electric car weighed about one-third more than the hybrid and emitted roughly one-quarter more particulate matter because of tire wear. What is the big deal? If I want to go to a cigar website I have to verify my age. Same with any alcohol website. There is no ID required you just have to check a box that says I am 21 years of age or older.  So if you want porn out of your state, pass legislation for age verification.  This happens in any state where Pornhub has to be held accountable. A STATE legislature has undone what the SCOTUS did in the mid 70’s stating porn is free speech. People who go to the site are now greeted with a long message from the company railing against the legal change as “ineffective, haphazard, and dangerous.” The company calls for age verification by the makers of devices that let people on the internet, instead of individual websites. How is this age verification ‘dangerous’? How do they know that you are using Pornhub if you are in Texas? IP tracking that is how. This is how Google tracks you and ‘suggests’ other sites for you. Every move you make on the internet is being recorded.  When people realize the gravity of what these sites are gathering from you while you are on them, it will scare you so badly you will bail on them.
