Wisdom Wednesday: "No One Is Coming To Save You."
**No One Is Coming to Save You** In shadows deep, where darkness lies, I wandered lost with tearful eyes, A world unkind, a daunting hue, No savior near, no rescue true. Through trials vast, I stumbled so, In struggle’s grasp, my spirit low, But in the depths, a spark did rise, A fire fierce, with newfound ties. No one is coming to save you, they say, Embrace the struggle, find your own way, For strength resides in storms we brave, And wisdom blooms when souls are brave. I learned to dance amidst the rain, To rise again from every pain, Through shattered dreams, a purpose found, A heart unbound, on higher ground. No one is coming to save you, it’s true, But hear me now, with words anew, For in the darkness, a light you’ll find, Within your soul, a power, aligned. From every fall, a lesson gleams, A phoenix born from broken dreams, With every scar, a story etched, Of courage fierce, from struggles fetched. No longer bound by doubt’s cruel snare, I soared with hope, on wings of prayer, A strength unknown, from deep within, A warrior’s heart, a soul to win. No one is coming to save you, dear friend, But fear not, for your strength won’t bend, For life’s obstacles, they carve and mold, A masterpiece of courage, bold. In each defeat, a victory hides, In every step, the soul abides, With every challenge, the power unfurls, To shape a destiny of precious pearls. So, heed my words, embrace the fight, Discover strength in darkest night, No one is coming to save you, it’s true, But within your heart, a hero grew. Rise above, spread your wings, For in your spirit, freedom sings, No longer bound by shadows’ might, A beacon shines, igniting light. No one is coming to save you, you see, But behold the power that lies within thee, Embrace the struggle, let your soul take flight, And in this journey, find your might.

Liberating Yourself from False Obligations: Embracing Authenticity and Self-Respect
In our journey of self-improvement, we often find ourselves entangled in various social norms and expectations, sometimes leading us to compromise our own values and standards. Whether it’s answering a wrong number, drinking at a party, or succumbing to peer pressure, these false obligations can erode our sense of self and hinder our personal growth. This blog entry aims to shed light on why it’s essential to break free from these shackles and prioritize authenticity and self-respect in our lives. Preserving Your Boundaries: One of the fundamental aspects of self-improvement is understanding and preserving our boundaries. Every individual has a unique set of values and principles that guide their decisions and actions. When we answer a wrong number or engage in activities that conflict with our beliefs, we betray ourselves and erode our self-esteem. Setting clear boundaries allows us to uphold our integrity and remain true to our authentic selves. Embracing Authenticity: Authenticity is a key ingredient for personal growth and genuine connections with others. When we act out of obligation rather than authenticity, we create a façade that distances us from our true selves. Embracing our genuine thoughts, feelings, and preferences empowers us to form meaningful relationships based on honesty and trust. Building Confidence: Every time we make a decision based on false obligations, we weaken our confidence and self-assurance. Conversely, when we assert ourselves and stay true to our values, we strengthen our sense of self and bolster our confidence. Confidence is a powerful tool for self-improvement, as it allows us to tackle challenges, embrace opportunities, and navigate life with conviction. Honoring Your Well-Being: Your well-being is paramount. Engaging in activities that compromise your health, values, or standards can have long-lasting negative effects on your physical and mental health. Prioritizing your well-being means acknowledging your limitations and knowing when to say no. It allows you to channel your energy into endeavors that align with your goals and aspirations. Breaking Free from Peer Pressure: Peer pressure can be a significant driver of false obligations. At parties or social gatherings, the fear of rejection or judgment might lead us to make choices that don’t resonate with our true selves. However, when we recognize the impact of false obligations, we can take the reins of our lives and make decisions that serve our best interests. Cultivating Resilience: Resilience is the ability to bounce back from setbacks and challenges. By refusing to succumb to false obligations, we cultivate resilience by standing firm in the face of societal pressures. When we embrace resilience, we learn from our experiences and grow stronger in the process. Conclusion: In the pursuit of self-improvement, liberating ourselves from false obligations is a crucial step towards embracing authenticity, self-respect, and personal growth. By setting and preserving our boundaries, honoring our well-being, and refusing to compromise our values, we build the foundation for a fulfilling and authentic life. Remember, you have the power to shape your destiny and create a life that aligns with your true self – free from the chains of false obligations. Embrace your authenticity and watch as you flourish in a world where you are unapologetically you.

"Money Monday: Begin Your Journey to Financial Freedom Now!"
I was in the early stages of my entrepreneurial career. That’s when the tax man came knocking. Actually there was a time when a tax woman from the IRS came knocking but that’s a story for another day. This time I had to come up with $10,000 to pay a tax liability. By God’s grace I had it saved. Although it was a gut punch to have to turn over my cash to the federal government, it was a moment that has ever since stuck with me. Having the money when I needed it was one of the greatest moments of relief I had ever felt in my financial life. Financial stability is a goal that many aspire to achieve, but unfortunately, unexpected expenses or emergencies can often disrupt our plans. This is where having an emergency fund becomes vital. In this blog post, we will discuss the significance of starting a $1000 emergency fund, backed by data that showcases how having financial reserves can alleviate stress. Additionally, we will delve into the wisdom of personal finance expert Dave Ramsey and his renowned debt snowball program. Start With an Emergency Fund Life is unpredictable, and emergencies can arise at any time. Whether it’s a sudden medical expense, car repair, or a temporary job loss, having an emergency fund provides a safety net to navigate these challenging situations. Here are a few key reasons why a $1000 emergency fund is crucial: Peace of Mind: Knowing that you have funds set aside for unexpected expenses brings a sense of security. It helps to reduce anxiety and worry, allowing you to focus on other aspects of your life without constant financial stress. Breaking the Cycle of Debt: Without an emergency fund, many individuals turn to credit cards or loans to cover unexpected expenses. This can lead to a cycle of debt, where high-interest payments accumulate, making it challenging to regain financial stability. Preventing Financial Setbacks: Emergency situations can disrupt your financial progress and goals. By having a dedicated emergency fund, you can tackle unforeseen circumstances without derailing your financial plans or sacrificing your long-term objectives. The Impact of Financial Reserves on Stress Levels Research has shown a strong correlation between financial stress and overall well-being. A study conducted by the American Psychological Association in 2019 found that money-related stress is a significant factor contributing to increased anxiety levels, strained relationships, and even health problems. Conversely, having money in reserves can significantly lower stress levels. A 2020 study published in the Journal of Financial Planning revealed that individuals with emergency funds reported lower levels of stress, greater financial satisfaction, and improved mental well-being. Dave Ramsey and the Debt Snowball Program Dave Ramsey, a renowned personal finance expert and best-selling author, emphasizes the importance of building an emergency fund as a fundamental step towards financial freedom. Ramsey’s debt snowball program is designed to help individuals tackle their debts systematically while simultaneously establishing an emergency fund. The debt snowball program works as follows: List all your debts, starting from the smallest balance to the largest, regardless of interest rates. Make minimum payments on all debts except the smallest one. Allocate any extra funds towards paying off the smallest debt until it is fully paid off. Once the smallest debt is cleared, move on to the next smallest debt while continuing to pay minimums on others. Repeat the process until all debts are paid off. Throughout this journey, it is crucial to simultaneously build and maintain a $1000 emergency fund. Ramsey suggests focusing on this initial fund to provide a buffer against unexpected expenses, allowing individuals to break free from the debt cycle without accumulating further liabilities. Building a $1000 emergency fund is a crucial step towards achieving financial peace and stability. It acts as a safety net, providing security during unexpected emergencies and preventing the need to rely on debt. The evidence-backed connection between financial reserves and reduced stress levels further emphasizes the importance of this financial milestone. By following personal finance expert Dave Ramsey’s debt snowball program, individuals can effectively pay off debts while simultaneously creating a financial cushion for future unforeseen circumstances. Take control of your financial future and start building your emergency fund today. Your peace of mind will thank you later. #finances #moneymonday #thejasonwrightshow #peace ——————————————————— Follow me on Social Media Intagram Twitter YouTube FaceBook LinkedIn ———————————————————– Grab a Copy of My Books “The Stone

Become a Better Decision Maker-Good Outcomes Don't Necessarily Mean Equal Good Decisions-The Downside of "Resulting"
Annie Duke, a renowned professional poker player and decision strategist, has made significant contributions to the field of decision-making and cognitive psychology. Her insights and views on decision-making have garnered attention and praise from experts across various disciplines. One of Duke’s notable perspectives is on the concept of resulting, which refers to evaluating the quality of a decision based solely on its outcome. In her book “Thinking in Bets,” she emphasizes that we often judge decisions based on the results rather than the process that led to them. Duke argues that this approach is flawed because it fails to account for the role of luck in outcomes. She believes that focusing on the decision-making process itself, rather than solely on the outcome, allows us to learn and improve regardless of the result. In her own words, “We need to judge decisions not based on outcomes, but on how well they were made.” Duke also stresses the importance of embracing uncertainty and making decisions based on probabilities rather than absolutes. She argues that since life is filled with uncertainty, decision-makers should aim to make the best possible choices by assessing the probabilities of various outcomes. By incorporating probabilistic thinking, individuals can make more informed decisions and avoid the pitfalls of overconfidence or excessive risk-taking. Furthermore, Duke highlights the significance of embracing cognitive biases and actively working to mitigate their impact. She recognizes that humans are prone to biases and faulty thinking patterns that can cloud decision-making. By acknowledging and understanding these biases, individuals can better identify them and make more rational choices. Duke’s insights have garnered attention beyond the realm of poker and have found application in fields such as finance, business, and psychology. Her emphasis on process over outcome, probabilistic thinking, and the awareness of cognitive biases offers valuable tools for decision-makers in navigating complex situations. Annie Duke’s perspectives on decision-making provide a refreshing and insightful approach to the field. By shifting the focus from outcome-based judgments to process-based evaluations, incorporating probabilities, and addressing cognitive biases, Duke’s views offer practical guidance for making better decisions. Her expertise and experiences as a professional poker player add a unique perspective that resonates with individuals across various domains, making her a notable figure in the field of decision-making. ——————————————————— Follow me on Social Media Intagram Twitter YouTube FaceBook LinkedIn ———————————————————– Grab a Copy of My Books “The Stone Chiseler” “Push Play: Taking Your Life Off Pause” ——————————————————– Want to Improve always in ALL ways? Hedge For a GREAT Day-My Morning Routine and Why It's Such an Important Part of My Day
‘ Implementing a morning routine can be highly beneficial for both mental and physical well-being, as explained by Andrew Huberman, a neuroscientist and professor at Stanford University. Here are five reasons why a morning routine is important and how it can help lower stress: Anchoring and setting intentions: A morning routine provides structure and sets a positive tone for the day ahead. By establishing consistent rituals, such as meditation, exercise, or journaling, you create an anchor that helps you feel grounded and in control. This sense of stability can reduce stress by giving you a clear direction and purpose, allowing you to approach the day with greater resilience. Hormonal regulation: Engaging in specific activities during your morning routine can help regulate your body’s hormonal balance. For example, exposure to natural light, particularly in the early morning, can stimulate the release of cortisol, a hormone that helps you feel alert and awake. This can improve your mood and reduce stress levels throughout the day. Boosting dopamine levels: Dopamine is a neurotransmitter associated with motivation and reward. Engaging in enjoyable activities in the morning, such as exercise or pursuing a hobby, can increase dopamine levels, leading to a greater sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. This positive reinforcement can help counteract stress and enhance your overall well-being. Mindfulness and stress reduction: Incorporating mindfulness practices, such as meditation or deep breathing exercises, into your morning routine can have profound effects on stress reduction. Mindfulness promotes a state of present-moment awareness, allowing you to let go of worries about the past or future. By starting your day with mindfulness, you cultivate a calm and focused mindset, enabling you to navigate stressors more effectively. Self-care and self-nurturing: A morning routine offers an opportunity to prioritize self-care, which is crucial for stress management. Engaging in activities that nourish your body and mind, such as healthy breakfast, stretching, or reading, can enhance your overall well-being and resilience. Taking time for yourself in the morning sets a positive tone for the day, reducing stress by prioritizing your own needs and promoting self-compassion. By establishing a morning routine that incorporates these elements, you can experience a variety of benefits that help lower stress levels and promote overall well-being. Remember, the key is to personalize your routine to align with your preferences and needs, ensuring that it becomes a sustainable and enjoyable practice.

STOP! Don't Try To Be Better Than ANYONE Else
It was a typical workday. I was scrolling through LinkedIn when I saw it. Then I felt this depression starting to creep up. It was the profile of one of my fraternity brothers who will remain nameless. He was a great guy in college. However, he was also a dolt. He was irresponsible, wealthy and in his 4th year of school when I met him as a freshman. We were friends for the next 4 years of college. Do the math. Now I was looking at his profile as the former partner of one of the most well known consulting firms in the country. He had left the company and was now a wildly successful entrepreneur. Dang! “You’re such a loser,” I told myself. Then it happened again. I saw a picture of a group of my fraternity brothers on a “mancation” I had not been invited to. Their collective net worth was probably on the high side of eight figures. I assumed I would never be invited because I wasn’t at their income bracket. This made me miserable. For much of my adult life I was a chronic self comparer (if that’s a thing). I was constantly measuring my success to the perceived success of others. This is dumb. I don’t do this any longer. Thank God. Neither should you. In today’s hyperconnected world, it’s all too easy to fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others. With social media platforms showcasing carefully curated highlight reels, it’s no wonder that feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt can quickly creep in. However, constantly comparing yourself to others can have a significant negative impact on your mental health and overall well-being. Instead, let’s explore the benefits of focusing on the things you can control and the positive impact it can have on your self-improvement journey. The Mental Toll of Comparison:When we constantly compare ourselves to others, we inadvertently set unrealistic expectations. This unending cycle of comparison often leads to feelings of inadequacy, low self-esteem, and even anxiety or depression. It’s important to remember that every person’s journey is unique, and comparing yourself to others undermines your own progress and achievements. Embrace Your Individuality:Instead of fixating on what others are doing or achieving, focus on your own strengths, passions, and goals. Embracing your individuality allows you to cultivate a strong sense of self-worth and authenticity. Recognize that everyone has their own journey, and your path is just as valid and meaningful. Shift Your Focus to What You Can Control:One of the most empowering things you can do for your mental health is to shift your focus to the things you have control over. Comparison often stems from factors outside our control, such as genetics, circumstances, or luck. By channeling your energy towards your personal growth and development, you can make tangible progress and find fulfillment in your own accomplishments. Nurture a Growth Mindset:Comparing yourself to others often stems from a fixed mindset, where you believe that abilities and talents are fixed traits. However, nurturing a growth mindset allows you to see challenges as opportunities for growth. Embrace the idea that you can learn, develop, and improve over time. Focus on setting realistic goals and celebrate the progress you make, no matter how small. Conclusion:In a world obsessed with comparison, it’s crucial to prioritize your mental health by avoiding the comparison trap. Remember, you are on a unique journey, and your worth should not be determined by the achievements or qualities of others. By focusing on the things within your control, embracing your individuality, and nurturing a growth mindset, you can unlock your full potential and lead a more fulfilling life. Let go of comparison, celebrate your progress, and embrace the joy of self-improvement.

This or That vs. This AND That-Don't Make New Tech a Zero Sum Game. Leverage The New To Enhance The Old
AI is blowing everyone’s minds. Some are scared. Some are excited. What should we do? Well, remember when ATM machines were supposed to put all the tellers out of business? Yea. That didn’t happen. There are actually more tellers now than there were when ATM’s came along. Remember when email was going to do away with snail mail and the carriers who delivered it? Well, Newman is still delivering hoping for that Hawaii transfer. The fact is most big innovations lead to new opportunities. It makes doing the work we once did easier or more effective. AI will be the same way if you choose to start asking what about AI AND my writing vs. is it going to be AI OR me doing the writing. AI is causing both fear and excitement among people. Similar to how ATMs did not replace all bank tellers, AI will lead to new job opportunities rather than solely replace them. Email did not lead to the extinction of snail mail and postal carriers still have jobs. Big innovations, like AI, can make work easier and more effective, rather than solely taking jobs away. It is important to consider how AI can work alongside individuals in their work rather than viewing it as a replacement. Money Monday! Index Funds vs. Actively Managed?
Investing is not that hard once you get started. In fact, it’s one of life’s few highly significant things we can do once then let the experts take over. In this episode I discuss not whether you should be investing in one fund vs. the other but that you just NEED TO START! I even summoned the wisdom of the Tennessee sage himself, Dave Ramsey to hammer home the point. I hope you enjoy this new segment. Tom Cruise and His Identity Based Habits
Love him or hate him or just think he’s weird, Tom Cruise is an icon. He is in a league of actor all his own. Have you ever noticed all Tom Cruise movies have his name at the top of the poster? That’s by design. Part of the movie’s identity is that it’s a “Tom Cruise” movie. This didn’t happen by accident. It was deliberate. Tom Cruise decided early on he would make movies and he would make them well. Therefore, he took on the identity of a student and did what students do-he learned. He wanted to be wildly successful. So he did what wildly successful people do-he worked hard..really hard. We all have a choice. We can haphazardly let our habits develop our identity or we can consciously decide the identity we want to assume and create habits that support that identity. Die With Zero
“Die with Zero” by Bill Perkins is a thought-provoking book that challenges traditional ideas about retirement and encourages readers to make the most of their lives by prioritizing experiences over accumulation of wealth. Perkins advocates for a mindset shift from deferring enjoyment and experiences until old age towards embracing the concept of “living life to the fullest” in the present. The book highlights the fact that life is unpredictable and that delaying experiences until retirement may not always be feasible. Perkins argues that it’s essential to strike a balance between enjoying the present and saving for the future. He believes that waiting until old age to pursue dreams and passions can lead to missed opportunities, regrets, and a diminished ability to fully appreciate and engage in those experiences. Perkins encourages readers to identify their priorities and create a “bucket list” of experiences they want to have throughout their lives. By evaluating these experiences in terms of their potential enjoyment and impact, individuals can allocate their time and resources accordingly. The author emphasizes the importance of aligning spending with personal values and passions, aiming to maximize fulfillment and happiness throughout life’s journey. The book challenges the conventional notion that retirement should be the sole focus of financial planning. Instead, Perkins proposes a concept of “mini-retirements” or “sabbaticals,” where individuals take intentional breaks throughout their lives to pursue meaningful experiences. These breaks can be shorter, focused periods where individuals engage in activities that bring them joy and fulfillment, without waiting until the traditional retirement age. Perkins also encourages readers to consider the concept of “Lifestyle Calculus,” which involves assessing the potential return on investment (ROI) of different experiences. By evaluating the long-term value and enjoyment derived from an experience, individuals can make more informed decisions about how and when to allocate their resources. Ultimately, “Die with Zero” encourages readers to take advantage of their financial resources and time while they are younger and healthier, enabling them to create a life filled with meaningful experiences, personal growth, and fulfillment. It urges individuals to reflect on what truly matters to them and to take proactive steps to make those experiences a reality, rather than deferring them indefinitely. By embracing this philosophy, individuals can lead more purposeful and rewarding lives.

Philosophy Is Empty If It's Not Reflected In Your Identity
We all are armchair philosophers on occasion. Many of us admire certain philosophies as well as their founders. However, how many of us actually live lives reflective of those philosophies? That’s the key. If we just admire a philosophy without putting it into practice, it’s uttered useless to our lives. Title: Becoming Invaluable: The Power of Being the Go-To Person
In our rapidly changing world, where information and options are abundant, it can be challenging to stand out and remain relevant. However, there is an exceptional position one can attain—the position of being so valuable that others won’t go elsewhere for advice or influence. This coveted status brings numerous benefits, including customer loyalty and personal significance. In this blog post, we will explore the statistics on maintaining customers versus acquiring new ones and delve into the profound impact we have as the one and only person in someone’s life, be it as a father, mother, or employer. The Importance of Customer Retention:According to numerous studies, maintaining existing customers is significantly more cost-effective than acquiring new ones. It has been found that acquiring a new customer can cost up to five times more than retaining an existing one. Additionally, increasing customer retention rates by as little as 5% can boost profits by 25% to 95%. These figures underscore the value of building long-term relationships and becoming the go-to person for advice and influence. Being the One and Only:In each person’s life, there are roles that cannot be replicated or replaced. As a father, mother, employer, or even a close friend, we hold a unique position that provides us with the opportunity to shape and influence others in profound ways. When someone considers us as the one and only person to seek guidance, support, or inspiration, it signifies the depth of trust they have in us. Father/Mother:As parents, we have an immense responsibility to our children. We are their role models, mentors, and sources of unwavering love. Research shows that children who have involved and supportive parents are more likely to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. The impact we have as parents is immeasurable, and by being there for our children, we become irreplaceable influences in their lives. Employer:In the workplace, as an employer or supervisor, we possess the ability to create an environment that nurtures and motivates our employees. When we genuinely care about their professional growth, well-being, and success, we become indispensable. Studies consistently demonstrate that employees who feel valued and supported by their superiors show higher levels of engagement, productivity, and loyalty. By being the go-to person for guidance and mentorship, we establish ourselves as a source of inspiration and stability in their career journey. Trusted Advisor:Beyond familial and professional relationships, there are countless other areas where we can become the go-to person for advice and influence. It could be as a mentor, coach, or a friend with whom someone feels comfortable sharing their vulnerabilities and seeking guidance. By providing consistent support, empathy, and wisdom, we become an invaluable asset in their lives, making it unlikely for them to seek advice or influence elsewhere. Becoming the one and only person in someone’s life is a testament to the value we bring and the impact we have on others. Whether it’s as a parent, employer, mentor, or trusted advisor, the trust and loyalty we inspire can be immeasurable. Not only does being the go-to person foster long-term relationships and customer retention, but it also allows us to make a profound difference in the lives of those we touch. So, let’s strive to become the invaluable individuals that others won’t go elsewhere for advice or influence, and in doing so, let us create a lasting impact on the people around us. In today’s fast-paced and demanding world, individuals often find themselves grappling with self-doubt, anxiety, and negative thoughts that can hinder personal growth and success. However, a growing body of research suggests that positive self-talk, a conscious effort to address oneself with encouraging and supportive dialogue, can significantly influence mental and physical well-being. This essay explores the power of positive self-talk and draws upon the research of Stephen Cheung and Alex Hutchinson to shed light on its profound effects on individual performance and overall life satisfaction. Mark Divine’s insights on positive self-talk provide valuable guidance on how to unlock our potential, build mental resilience, and achieve personal transformation. "The Calorie Control Chronicles: Harnessing the Power of Calorie Restriction for Health and Body Transformation"
Calorie restriction, when done in a controlled and balanced manner, has shown a powerful impact on metabolic health. Research has demonstrated that reducing caloric intake can lead to improvements in various markers of metabolic health, such as insulin sensitivity, blood pressure, lipid profile, and inflammation. By consuming fewer calories, the body is prompted to utilize stored energy reserves, leading to weight loss and a reduction in excess adipose tissue. This reduction in body fat, particularly visceral fat surrounding vital organs, can significantly lower the risk of chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndrome. Additionally, calorie restriction has been linked to enhanced mitochondrial function, increased autophagy (cellular cleansing), and improved insulin signaling, all of which contribute to the overall optimization of metabolic health. While it is essential to approach calorie restriction with care and under professional guidance, the potential benefits it holds for metabolic health are undeniably compelling. My Conversation with Author of "Angels Against The Sun" James M. Fenelon
So what is it that makes the “Greatest Generation” so great? Well, I’m not sure I can tell you. However, James Fenelon’s new book “Angels Against The Sun” does an amazing job of illustrating just how great these men were during their time of war. I had so much fun visiting with James about his book that recalls the heroic story of the 11th Airborne Division and their role in the Pacific campaign of WWII. Grunt’s-Eye View of Pacific WarfareThe Pacific theater of World War II pitted American fighting men against two merciless enemies: the relentless Japanese army and the combined forces of monsoons, swamps, mud, privation, and disease.General Joseph Swing’s rowdy paratroopers of the 11th Airborne Division— nicknamed the “Angels”—fought in some of the war’s most dramatic campaigns, from bloody skirmishes in Leyte’s unforgiving rainforests to the ferocious battles on Luzon, including the hellish urban combat of Manila. The Angels were trained as elite shock troops, but high American casualties often forced them into action as ground-pounding infantrymen. Surviving on airdropped supplies and reinforcements, the Angels fought their way across nearly impassable terrain, emerging as one of the most lethal units in the Pacific War. Their final task was the occupation of Japan, where they were the first American boots on the ground.Angels Against the Sun is an unforgettable account of the liberation of the Philippines. In the tradition of Band of Brothers, historian and former paratrooper James M. Fenelon offers a grunt’s-eye view of the war. This is a soldier’s history at its best. JAMES M FENELON is a paratrooper turned historian. He served in the U.S. Army for more than a decade and is a graduate of the U.S. Army’s Airborne, Jumpmaster, and Pathfinder schools. His previous book, Four Hours of Fury: The Untold Story of World War II’s Largest Airborne Invasion and the Final Push into Nazi Germany, was widely praised; the Wall Street Journal called it “inspired” and the Army Times called it “a riveting account.” He has written for World War II magazine, Military History, and other outlets, and served as a technical advisor for World War II documentaries. An alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin, Fenelon and his wife live in the Texas Hill Country. Just Do This One Thing! It's Easy, Beneficial and EVERYONE Can Do It. But Don't Get Creepy
While smiling can improve mood and release feel-good chemicals like endorphins, it’s importantto note that depression is a serious mental health condition that requires treatment from aqualified mental health professional. While smiling alone is unlikely to cure depression, it can bea helpful part of an overall treatment plan that may include therapy, medication, and lifestylechanges. Some research suggests that smiling or laughing regularly can have a positive impact on moodand reduce symptoms of depression. Smiling and laughter can help reduce stress and anxiety, boost the immune system, and release endorphins that can improve mood. However, it’simportant to emphasize that these benefits are likely to be modest and should not be reliedupon as a standalone treatment for depression. If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms of depression, it’s important to seek thesupport of a mental health professional who can provide a comprehensive assessment anddevelop an individualized treatment plan. Here are 5 advantages of smiling: Reduced stress: Smiling releases endorphins which can reduce stress and help you feelmore relaxed. Improved mood: Smiling can improve your mood by triggering the release of dopamineand serotonin, which are neurotransmitters that make you feel happy and content. Strengthened immune system: Smiling and laughter can boost the immune system byincreasing the production of white blood cells and antibodies that fight off infections andillnesses. Increased attractiveness: People are generally more attracted to those who smilefrequently, as it conveys warmth and approachability. Boosted creativity: Smiling has been shown to increase creative thinking and problemsolving abilities, possibly due to the release of endorphins and a more relaxed state ofmind. Procrastination Cure-Understanding the Pain Pleasure Paradox
The pain-pleasure paradox is a concept that explains why people often choose short-term pleasure over long-term gain, even when they know that the latter will ultimately bring them more happiness. Procrastination, or the act of putting off important tasks in favor of more immediately satisfying activities, is a prime example of this paradox. Procrastination can be seen as a way to avoid the pain of doing something that may be difficult, boring or unpleasant. However, it is also a way to seek pleasure in the form of instant gratification. By putting off tasks, we get to enjoy the immediate satisfaction of doing something more pleasurable, like watching TV or browsing social media. This gives us a quick hit of dopamine, the neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and reward, but ultimately harms our long-term goals. Interestingly, the longer we procrastinate, the more painful the task becomes in our minds. We build up anxiety and stress around the task, making it seem even more daunting than it really is. The result is that we feel even more motivated to avoid the pain, and seek out more immediate pleasure instead. Breaking the cycle of procrastination requires recognizing the pain-pleasure paradox for what it is and consciously choosing to prioritize our long-term goals over short-term rewards. This may involve setting specific, achievable goals for ourselves, breaking tasks into smaller steps, or finding ways to make the task more enjoyable. Ultimately, it comes down to recognizing that while procrastination may bring temporary pleasure, it ultimately leads to greater pain in the form of missed opportunities and unfulfilled potential.

Hyperbolic Discounting: Don't Discount Your Future!-Building Your Ideal Future One Piece At a Time
We may gravitate towards short-term rewards, but this tendency (known as hyperbolic discounting) can adversely influence our ability to achieve long-term goals. Changing our mindset and viewing our future selves as part of our current self can help us to prioritize those long-term objectives. To make progress, we must actively choose the harder options that will bring about greater rewards in time. Small changes can make a big difference: saving money or taking a walk each day are simple steps that ultimately add up to a huge impact. S4 Ep 316Second Marriage-How to Hedge For Success!
Marriage is tough. Some say second marriages are even tougher. The statistics seem to bear this out? Second marriages are much more likely to end in divorce than first marriages. According to a report from the National Center for Health Statistics, 60% of second marriages end in divorce within 10 years compared to 40% of first marriages. Additionally, statistics show that one-third of all third marriages also end in divorce. According to Gary Chapman, the key to making second marriages work is open and honest communication between both partners. He emphasizes the importance of couples taking the time to talk about their feelings, expectations, and experiences from their previous relationships in order for them to understand each other better. Additionally, he suggests that couples also take the time to learn about each other’s love languages as this can help facilitate better communication and understanding between them. I hope you find this episode encouraging no matter where you are in the journey of marriage. S4 Ep 315Your Personal Hero's Journey-What Role Will YOU Play In The Story of Your Life?
You Write The Script.. Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky story is one for the books. In 1975, the future action star wrote a screenplay about an underdog boxer who gets a chance to fight the world champion and make it big against all odds. Stallone was initially offered $360,000 by producer Irwin Winkler for his script but he refused unless he was allowed to play the lead role himself. In a defiant move that could have easily gone wrong, Stallone stuck to his guns and Winkler eventually capitulated, casting him as boxer Rocky Balboa in the 1976 movie classic. The gamble paid off in spades – Rocky would go on to make more than $225 million worldwide and earn Stallone an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. It also cemented his place in Hollywood history and spawned five successful sequels along with generations of die-hard fans who know how the heartwarming story begins. Yes, this is a classic example of ‘Hollywood meets determination’ and proves just what someone can do when they refuse to give up on their dreams! Do you ever feel like no matter how hard you’re working, it still isn’t enough to reach your goals? It can be discouraging at times, but there is hope! Looking back on some of the most inspirational stories in literature and cinema provides tangible hope while also reminding us that any challenge can be faced if we push through the tough moments. One of these stories is Rocky (1976), which follows protagonist Rocky Balboa’s heroic journey from a small-time boxer to an inspiring champion. Through his struggles with seemingly insurmountable obstacles, such as poverty and physical injury, he proves that dedication and personal drive will always light the path towards success. Rocky’s story speaks volumes about overcoming different types of adversity; it serves as a great reminder to anyone looking for motivation in their own journey towards reaching their dreams. The Call to Adventure & Refusal of the Call – Rocky’s struggles in life and his initial refusal to take up the challenge Life can be tough and full of challenges, and Rocky knows this all too well. He’s faced his fair share of struggles, but when the call to adventure comes knocking, it’s easy to understand why he initially refused. Sometimes, the unknown can be daunting and the journey ahead may seem impossible. But it’s important to remember that growth only comes when we step outside our comfort zones and take on those challenges head-on. Rocky embodies this spirit of determination and resilience, inspiring us to rise up to the call of adventure and never let fear hold us back. After all, the greatest accomplishments often come from the greatest hurdles we have to overcome. Crossing the Threshold – Rocky’s journey from being an underdog to becoming a real contender Rocky’s journey from underdog to contender is a truly inspirational story that reminds us of the power of perseverance and hard work. Despite facing countless obstacles and setbacks, Rocky never gave up on his dreams of becoming a champion. He trained tirelessly, pushing himself to the limit both physically and mentally, and even when it seemed like the odds were against him, he never lost faith in himself. In the end, his hard work paid off, and he emerged as a true contender, a champion in his own right. Rocky’s journey is a testament to the fact that anyone can achieve greatness if they are willing to put in the effort and never give up on their dreams. It is a story that inspires us all to believe in ourselves, to defy the odds, and to always strive for greatness. Tests, Allies, and Enemies – Rocky’s relationships with people around him and how they help him on his journey Throughout Rocky’s journey, he has encountered various individuals who have played significant roles in his life. Some have been friends, while others have been foes. But regardless of whether they stood by him or against him, each person has contributed in some way to his growth and development. Rocky’s allies have been a source of inspiration and support, providing him with guidance and encouragement when he needed it most. And while his enemies have made his journey more challenging, they have also taught him valuable lessons about perseverance, determination, and resilience. With each test he faces and each person he encounters, Rocky is able to grow stronger and closer to achieving his goals. His relationships with those around him serve as a reminder that no one can achieve success alone, and that the people we surround ourselves with can help us become the best versions of ourselves. The Road of Trials – Rocky’s physical, emotional, and mental challenges as he pursues his goal Rocky’s journey toward success was filled with numerous trials that tested his physical, emotional, and mental abilities. From facing the toughest opponents in the boxing ring to grappling

S4 Ep 309The AI Episode With Mind Blowing Assistance From Seth Godin-How To Get Ready For The Machines
It’s no longer a question of whether or not the machines are coming. They are here. AI is advancing at a breakneck pace. So what do we do to prepare? I say we can only do one thing-improve. Now more than ever we need to get smarter, healthier, wiser and more prepared for this changing world. This is not to instill fear but offer an anecdote for the anxiety being caused by all the changes we are seeing in our world. I was recently listening to Seth Godin’s Akimbo podcast in which he was discussing AI. Seth gave a great explanation of exactly what AI is and what is coming and what might be coming. He also gave a list of considerations we must make with the oncoming of more work and thinking being done by AI. Finally, there was an element of his podcast that was a bit mind blowing. I decided to share it with you, the JWS audience. So what exactly is AI? AI is the most fascinating and exciting field of study that has ever existed. It is the study of creating intelligent machines that can perform human-like tasks such as learning, reasoning, and problem-solving. AI is changing the world in extraordinary ways, from self-driving cars and facial recognition to personalized healthcare and virtual assistants like Jasper. AI is not just a technology, it’s the art of creating intelligence itself. It’s a field that requires creativity, intuition, and logic all at once. AI has the potential to transform the world we live in and reshape the future of our society. It’s a thrilling time to be alive, as we’re witnessing some of the most remarkable technological advancements in history, all thanks to AI. S4 Ep 307The Man Who Put The Cuffs One of The 16th St. Bomber 27 Years After The Fact-Stewart Fillmore-29 Year FBI Veteran Shares Details of Some of the Biggest Criminals in History!
Following retirement from the FBI as a 29-year “street Agent,” I wrote and published a book titled Tenaha: Corruption and Cover-Up in Small Town Texas. The book gives an in-depth look at my experiences in the FBI and takes the reader through an actual investigation. In July 2021, I was featured on Expedition Unknown on the Discovery Channel in an episode titled “Dillinger’s Lost Loot” which highlighted a 1934 Shell Oil company road map I found at the John Dillinger farm in Mooresville, Indiana. “On September 15, 1963, the congregation of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama greeted each other before the start of Sunday service. In the basement of the church, five young girls, two of them sisters, gathered in the ladies room in their best dresses, happily chatting about the first days of the new school year. It was Youth Day and excitement filled the air, they were going to take part in the Sunday adult service.Just before 11 o’clock, instead of rising to begin prayers the congregation was knocked to the ground. As a bomb exploded under the steps of the church, they sought safety under the pews and shielded each other from falling debris. In the basement, four little girls were killed—14-year-olds Addie Mae Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson, and 11-year-old Cynthia Wesley. Addie’s sister Sarah survived, but lost her right eye.In the moments after the explosion, questions hung in the air—’Where is my loved one?’ ‘Are they ok?’ ‘How much longer can this violence last?’ They did not ask if this was an accident, they knew that this was a bomb that had exploded as it had dozens of times before in “Bombingham.” 16th Street Baptist Church interior after the bombingBirmingham Public Library This was one of the most horrific incidents in American history. 27 years after the fact a lead fell on Special Agent Stewart Fillmore’s desk.
