BONUS: Bill Barnett - College Football Playoff Expansion
bonusWe hear the typical 8-Team, 12-Team, even 16-Team College Football Playoff Expansion ideas. But what about an expansion to SIX teams, which requires a re-structure to SIX FBS Conferences, where only the Conference Champions play in the playoff? It may seem strange at first, but it has some backing and Bill brings up some amazing points today! I think after these past few years, specifically this 2020 College Football Season, it is apparent that we need an expansion of the Playoff to some capacity in the VERY NEAR future. Listen in and let me know what you think about it all! ______________________ Major thanks to 208 Printing for helping make 2020 the best year yet for the podcast! Ep 175Episode 175: Kobe Warr - State Champion QB from Rocky Mountain High School
Some people are winners. They put in hard work, consistency, face adversity, and when it comes down to executing, they WIN. Kobe Warr is one of those athletes who knows what it takes to WIN! Coming into 2020 with a lot of questions about the season itself, Kobe and his teammates did what they knew to do, and that was to 'control what they could control.' The season ended up being played, and the Rocky Mountain High School Football Team ended up with a State Championship victory, with Kobe leading the way at the quarterback position. Again, winning isn't new to the young man. He's been winning since his days in optimist football, all the way through middle school. Today he joins the show to talk about his journey, what he's learned, who his biggest influence is, and allows us to learn from him on what it takes to be a winner. All athletes need to plug in and pay attention. Listen to what Kobe says about his preparation and attitude. Listen to what he says about controlling what he can control. Ep 165Episode 165: Emma Gee - Former BYU Runner - LGBTQ Athlete
Our college years are filled with stress enough as it is. You have homework, deadlines, exams, etc. If you are an athlete, you have even more stress to go along with it as you have to add your training hours and GPA requirements to the mix. Now, imagine you were living with a "secret" that you hadn't told anyone. A secret about who you "truly were." Emma Gee, a former BYU Runner, became the first openly LGBTQ athlete at Brigham Young University when she came out just a few years ago. Today she shares her story of sports and courage. We hear what it was like in her position and what it was like before and after coming out. BYU is indeed a private university, owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and like many private schools, has an honor code they uphold. This is another topic of discussion for Emma and myself as I ask her about why she continued to go to school at BYU, knowing it was a private university with those guidelines set in place that didn't necessarily go in line with her lifestyle. It's always great to hear new perspectives in the sports world, and I hope you enjoy our interview! Ep 163Episode 163: Tamir Goodman - The Jewish Jordan
In the Jewish religion, the Sabbath is observed from sundown Friday until Saturday evening. It's something that has been observed for thousands of years. For Tamir Goodman, this has been part of his life and he wasn't going to allow anything to change his faith and the way in which he practiced his faith. Even if it meant adjusting his basketball schedule around. During his high school days, he climbed up the rankings to being a top-25 player in the country, and he had a decision to make. He originally committed to Maryland, and ultimately made a big-time decision highly influenced by his faith and Sabbath Day observance, to change his commitment and play at Towson. His journey is super unique and inspiring. It's a story of a young man, who knew what he believed in and stood for what he believed in, in a world where this is very difficult to do. Listen to our conversation today and learn from the man known as the Jewish Jordan, Tamir Goodman. He still was able to play the game he loved and although the journey may have been "different" than what people thought it would be, it's the exact journey that God had destined for him. Ep 161Episode 161: Paul Kingsbury - IdahoSports.com
The Gametime Guru Podcast is presented by 208 Printing! ____________________________________________ Back in 2010, I got introduction into the sports media world, when I was given the opportunity to do some Play-by-Play broadcasting with a company here in Idaho, for a local high school of ours. That company was IdahoSports.com and I'm forever grateful for the chance to learn the craft with them during that football season. Today, I get to speak to the man who gave me that chance originally! The man who runs IdahoSports.com, Paul Kingsbury. For YEARS he's been providing sports content to Idaho sports fans (mainly high school sports) by giving them a platform to have written content as well as game broadcasts. He travels week in and week out to make sure he is covering the games for the schools who want them there! And today, we get to hear a lot about his journey! We also get to hear about some fun memories he's had (like where he was broadcasting games from, since it's not always in the comfort of a press-box believe it or not), and where his favorite school is for fans and such! He's truly built this thing and he's had to adapt along the way, which makes Idahosports.com such a great source of information for sports fans in Idaho. Listen in and enjoy the discussion!! ____________________________________________ For all entrepreneurs who want to take their businesses to the next level, you MUST check this 30-Day Challenge that is literally ONLY $100!! Ep 160Episode 160: David Mckinzie (D-Mac) - Former BSU Wide Receiver
The Gametime Guru Podcast is presented by 208 Printing! ____________________________________________ For all entrepreneurs who want to take their businesses to the next level, you MUST check this 30-Day Challenge that is literally ONLY $100!! It's called the One Funnel Away Challenge and it's important to check this out NOW!! ____________________________________________ David Mckinzie, who is known as D-Mac, came to Boise State as a preferred walk-on as a Wide Receiver. Coming from Texas and after having a solid high school career, he was excited to come to a winning program like the Broncos. What's awesome about his story is, although his college career may not have been exactly what he had envisioned when originally coming to play football, he took advantage of a lot of opportunities that were presented to him, and he took those skillsets he acquired to his "post-college" phase of his life! D-Mac was fighting for a spot to play alongside some of the very best wide receivers to go through Boise State. He learned from some of the best at the position throughout his four and a half years, and today we get to hear what it was like being in his position. It's a perfect interview for athletes who are fighting for playing time and for those looking to see what they can learn from these types of experiences. D-Mac is the true example of being a team player, putting his best work in everyday without any guarantees, but then also leveraging his network for his post-college career! There's a reason he's crushing it as an entrepreneur these days and is doing big things to help in a lot of areas. He gets to give back at Boise State by helping with the overall in-game experience for fans at the football games (something I've experienced personally). It's important to listen and learn from someone like D-Mac, as he's been there and knows the steps it takes to get there. So pay attention! ____________________________________________ **Don't forget to leave me a 5-Star Review on iTunes** Follow me on Social Media: Instagram Twitter Facebook

Ep 159Episode 159: Colby Blaine - College of Idaho Basketball Head Coach
Colby Blaine has ascended through the coaching ladder quite quickly, and for good reason! As head coach at the College of Idaho, the teams he has led, have compiled a record of 62-9. He had his team ranked #1 in the NAIA Division II rankings before heading to the tournament last season, which like the rest of college athletics, ended abruptly due to the coronavirus pandemic. Today we'll learn about Colby's journey that started way back in his playing days, when he began acting as a coach on the court. He has been led by many amazing mentors in his life, and has had a lot of great experience including a Junior College National Championship at the College of Southern Idaho in 2011 as an Assistant Coach on that staff. His interview today on The Gametime Guru is insightful. We learn more about the school, more about recruiting, more about culture and the atmosphere at this "smaller" NAIA School in Caldwell, Idaho. It's one you do NOT want to miss!!
