Ep 55Vitamin C, Red Light For Tendon Injuries & Treating Bell’s Palsy
I know The Red Light Report isn't necessarily about highlighting nutrition, as there's thousands of those podcasts already. However, I did want to acknowledge National Vitamin C Day that occurred this week, so I take a quick dive into the history and benefits of one of the most popular vitamins in the world. Needless to say, you should be getting your daily vitamin C one way or another.Of course, I want to bring you the newest, cutting-edge photobiomodulation research available, so in this episode I will be highlighting three different articles. The first one, which I cover most in-depth, is about red light therapy (RLT) and how it can benefit the healing of tendons. Virtually 100% people on earth cross paths with a tendon injury at one point or another, with a high percentage eventually succumbing to chronic tendon injury/pain. So everyone will want to hear what this article has to say about RLT's benefits for tendon injuries. The subsequent two articles are so hot off the press that I could only get my hands on the abstracts. But regardless, the information and the results on what RLT can do to benefit Bell's palsy and temporomandibular joint disorder (i.e, jaw pain) is quite impressive — further uncovering more and more ways you can utilize red light therapy to your advantage.Learn lots, light up your health and enjoy! - Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses the following: Vitamin deficiency and its effects The sun’s radiation and how our cells react Supplementing vitamin C IV vitamin C Maintaining your vitamin C naturally Light and tendon repair Light and Bell's palsy Red light therapy versus ultrasound for TMD Tendon tears Red light therapy and the tendon healing process LLLT (Low level laser therapy) - Citations:The Functions and Mechanisms of Low-Level Laser Therapy in Tendon Repair (Review) A Study on the Effect of 850 nm Low-Level Diode Laser versus Electrical Stimulation in Facial Nerve Regeneration for Patients with Bell's PalsyComparative efficacy of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to TENS and therapeutic ultrasound in management of TMDs: a systematic review & meta-analysis - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook
Ep 54Light Therapy History, Building Up Your Solar Callous & Astaxanthin Benefits for Mitochondrial & DNA Health
On this week's solosode of The Red Light Report, I deliver a variety pack of information. One of the fun topics I randomly cover is about possibly my favorite non-negotiable adjuvant I take daily: astaxanthin. Ironically, the endless list of powerful benefits from this substance are secondary to sunlight exposure that stresses the algae, developing an orange goop — that goop is astaxanthin. So you could say the benefits derived from astaxanthin are thanks to the light from the sun!I also review the history of light therapy and the interesting ride it has been on over the centuries: from The Golden Age to the Era of Darkness to the New Age of Light. The pendulum has swung both ways and, luckily for us, it is swinging back to the side of evolution, utility and appreciation for the healing benefits of light therapy. This is why we have seen such a surge in photobiomodulation, namely red light therapy.Lastly, I cover the negative impact of light flicker, as it relates to our health. Decades and decades ago, it was thought that if light manufacturers increased the flicker rate so that it wasn't perceptible to the naked eye it wouldn't have a negative impact on our biology. However, we have learned that there can be insidious (or obvious) consequences of "invisible" light flicker, such as headaches/migraines, eye strain, decreased concentration and energy, mood and behavioral disorders and more. That is exactly why I made sure all BioLight panels have the lowest light flicker possible — the first red light therapy company to take that variable into consideration.Learn lots, light up your health and enjoy! - Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses the following: Building up your solar callous Astaxanthin, its origins and benefits for mitochondrial health How astaxanthin decreases DNA damage Astaxanthin and the skin The history of light therapy as a whole Seasonal Affective Disorder Big Pharma and its effects on perception of light therapy The mitochondrial theory of aging Mitochondrial dysfunction Light flicker and its negative effects - Books Cited:The Kaufmann Protocol, Sandra Kaufmann, MD Light Therapies, Anadi Martel - Where to Buy: Astaxanthin, 12mg - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook
Ep 53Oral Health Benefits of Red Light & Blue Light Therapy
One of my favorite aspects of red light therapy is the benefits it has on oral health. The photobiomodulation research in this area is exhaustive, demonstrating countless ways that RLT can impact oral health — from infections to gum health to enamel erosion to orthodontic surgery to pain and more! On this week's solosode of The Red Light Report, I will review the many benefits of RLT as it relates to oral health, but then I will take a dive into the health and aesthetic benefits of blue light therapy for oral health and teeth.Blue light therapy is notorious for whitening teeth, especially when combined with hydrogen peroxide or carbomide peroxide gel; I will discuss which peroxide is superior for whitening teeth most efficiently. Not only that, blue light is equally effective at selectively killing harmful bacteria while leaving beneficial bacteria alive and thriving, which leads to an optimized oral microbiome. Towards the end of the episode, I may or may not have an exciting announcement about a new BioLight product that is about to be released... So listen to the entire episode to find out what it is!Learn lots, light up your health and enjoy! - Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses the following: An exciting announcement for Dr. Mike Belkowski’s company, Biolight Sunglasses and whether or not we use them too much Demineralization of teeth and how red light therapy prevents it Ulcers/ canker sores and LLLT Orthodontic treatment as it relates to tooth movement Biofilms and and how red light therapy reduces the bacterial load in the root canal system Reduction of hypersensitivity in teeth Dentures and inflammatory responses to them - how red light therapy can help Blue light and tooth whitening Teeth whitening products that are best for your health - Previous Oral Health Episodes:Light & Oral Health w/ Dr. Kelly BlodgettOral Health & Red Light TherapyRed Light Therapy vs. Cold Water Immersion, Melatonin & Photobiomodulation Research on Dentin Hypersensitivity & Orthodontic-related Pain - Citations: Insights into blue light accelerated tooth whitening Comparison of efficacy of tray-delivered carbamide and hydrogen peroxide for at-home bleaching: a systematic review and meta-analysis At-home Bleaching With 10% vs More Concentrated Carbamide Peroxide Gels: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis Safety issues when using a 16% carbamide peroxide whitening solution To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook

Ep 52Light Healing, Presence, Consciousness & Pure Awareness w/ Dr. Jacob Liberman
“We do not see things as they are; we see them as we are... We have less control over our destiny than we think... The harder we look the less we see; by looking less, we see more."I have never finished a conversation feeling so enlightened and in awe of an individual's charisma and aura than I did on this week's episode of The Red Light Report with Dr. Jacob Israel Liberman. Not only is Dr. Liberman an optometrist and a leading authority in the domain of "external" light that we associate the sun and red light therapy with, but he is also a sage, thoughtful guru as it pertains to our "inner" light. In this episode, Dr. Liberman shares some amazing anecdotes on how he helped heal the vision of his patients decades ago with unique tactics that he developed and still uses today, such as human homeopathy and color homeopathy. Ep 50Quantum Health: Light, (Exclusion Zone) Water & Magnetism w/ Carrie Bennett
"Electrons! Electrons! Come get your electrons!" I love when I cross paths with someone that likes to nerd out on mitochondrial health, but especially from the quantum point of view! On this week's episode of The Red Light Report, I was lucky enough to sit down with the brilliant Carrie Bennett, who knows her quantum health inside and out. Not only that, but Carrie is able to take these complex topics and simplify them so anyone and everyone can understand. As you can see from the episode description below, we cover a smorgasbord of quantum health topics, especially how health is impacted by light, water and magnetism.Even though it can be intimidating, it behooves everyone to take a dive deep into health from a quantum perspective. This is truly where the root causes of disease are buried -- deep down at the subatomic level. But as Carrie acknowledges, even though the topics can get a little complex, the solutions are extremely straightforward. And who doesn't like simple, actionable strategies for optimizing wellness and bolstering one's healthspan? As a college athlete, supposedly at the pinnacle of health, Carrie began suffering chronic joint issues and insomnia. After her first child was born she developed debilitating stomach pain, adrenal fatigue, and brain fog. Ep 49Mitochondria 101
Believe it or not, it has almost been one year since I began The Red Light Report! And I want to thank each and every one of you that has tuned in for any of the episodes and supported me along the way. I am grateful that I have been able to provide you all with impactful information on light, especially red light therapy, and how you can best utilize it to your health's advantage. This is just the beginning...Speaking of the beginning — I wanted to revisit a couple of my very first solosodes on this podcast, specifically on the mitochondria, and continue to build on the foundational information that I've talked about so far in 2022 (i.e., energetic portion of the eye with Dr. Fritz Hollwich & the health benefits of UV light with Dr. Jacob Liberman). Most people haven't listened to these two episodes (and if you have it will be a fabulous review), which contains some of profound information as it pertains to the mitochondria "rubber meeting the (red light therapy) road."In essence, red light therapy works because of its ability to positively impact the mitochondria. So it's imperative to know how and why the mitochondria are import to our health and longevity, as that largely explains why red light therapy is such an amazing healing tool.Learn lots, light up your health and enjoy! - Pt. 1 This important episode covers why the mitochondria is vital for our health, wellness, and longevity. If you're into the science and how things work, Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses three of the most important names in the world of the mitochondria: Dr. Doug Wallace, Dr. Jack Kruse, and Dr. Gerald Pollack. Pt. 2 Dr. Mike Belkowski covers the fundamentals of the life of the mitochondria, the electron transport chain, how they kill themselves off, and how to best optimize your mitochondria. - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook
Ep 48Ultraviolet Light For Optimal Health & Debunking Myths Surrounding UV Light
For the better part of the last century, sunlight, and especially ultraviolet (UV) light, has been demonized and purported as a main instigator in many diseases and cancers. By the end of today's solosode on The Red Light Report, you will be exposed to the truth about UV light and understand the sad irony of those claims. As a kid, we were all told to put on our sunglasses, slather on that sunscreen and if all else fails, cover up with our hats, clothes, scarves, trench coats.... you get the point. It was drilled into us at a young age, that if you were going outside and to be exposed to the sunlight, you had to take precautions so the big bad sun didn't get you.Hindsight is 20/20, but how much nutrition via light did we deprive our biology from? How much better off would our health and wellness be today if we hadn't drank the kool-aid and become over-protective against the sun?Bear in mind, I am not saying that we all need to go outside and get sunburns. That is a real negative consequence to excessive UV exposure and can certainly instigate skin cancer. However, we have removed ourselves so far from nature that we have actually caused many of our own problems via mal-illumination. Between blocking UV light into our eyes with fancy sunglasses and UV radiation to our skin via sunscreen and clothing, multitudinous physiological benefits are being swept under the rug -- physiological benefits that have been built over ions by way of evolution. This solosode is largely thanks to Dr. Jacob Liberman and his book published in 1991, Light: The Medicine of the Future. The information in that books is as relevant and profound today as it was 30 years ago. I will cover one particular chapter from that book — UV or Not UV: That is the Question.Learn lots, light up your health and enjoy! - In this solosode, Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses the following: Quiz questions and answers about red light therapy An excerpt from Light: Medicine of the future by Jacob Liberman Misconceptions of UV light Radiation Sun bathing and UV therapy had become known as one of the most effective treatments for many infectious diseases Questioning the status quo Benefits of UV light Negative effects of the lack of UV light Recommendations for life changes and how you treat light - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook

Ep 46Altering the Gut Microbiome in Parkinson’s Disease via Red Light Therapy
Parkinson’s disease is the second most common age-related neurodegenerative disorder after Alzheimer’s disease. An estimated seven to 10 million people worldwide have Parkinson’s disease. Men are 1.5 times more likely to have Parkinson’s than women. The disease affects patients’ quality of life, making social interaction more difficult and worsening their financial condition, due to the medical expenses associated with the disease. These are just the tip of the iceberg, as it relates to sobering stats on Parkinson's disease...On this week's solosode of The Red Light Report, I decided to report on some hot-off-the-press research about -- you guessed it -- red light therapy and Parkinson's disease. We typically associate Parkinson's as just a disease of the brain. But what if I told you that your gut microbiome may playing a larger role in the disease via the gut-brain axis?It turns out that most individuals with Parkinson's have the opposite desired ratio of bacteria ('good' vs. 'bad') that is seen in a healthy, vibrant gut environment. This research article, which was published in early January, uncovers the amazing potential that red light therapy, specifically near-infrared light, has on improving the ratio of 'good' bacteria to 'bad' bacteria in the gut. This is a very exciting piece of research, as it further demonstrates the versatile healing abilities of red light therapy and just how resilient our bodies can be when given what it wants. In this case, the gut wanted some NIR light. Ep 44How Light Influences Overall Health via the Eye, Pt. 3
This week's episode on The Red Light Report is the grand finale of the three-part solosode series about light and its influence on the "energetic portion" of our eyes. This rather old, yet profound information, comes from the research of German ophthalmologist Fritz Hollwich and other studies he collected from the late 1800s through the 1970s in his book, The Influence of Ocular Light Perception on Metabolism in Man and in Animal. We covered the following topics in last week's episode: light and body temperature, light and kidney function, light and blood count and light and metabolic functions. The research in these areas leave no doubt that we all possess another pathway in our eyes that leads to downstream effects in our physiology, for better and, certainly, for worse. This week, we will be learning the following topics: light and thyroid function, light and sexual function, light and adrenal and pituitary functions, natural sunlight and artificial fluorescent light, light pollution, and the importance of light in metabolism in man and animal: summary. The last three sections are of utmost importance and by far have the most applicable take-home points of this entire solosode series. While this information may be "old," given the book was published in 1979, it has never been more timely and relevant than now with our illuminated modern-day lifestyles. Ever since 1879, when Edison invented the lightbulb, the pendulum has been constantly swinging to the other side. And while there have been many advancements and benefits directly because of the lightbulb, virtually every aspect of our biology has paid the preverbal price.Fritz Hollwich was very aware of the fact that our lighting environments taxed our health -- even over 80 years ago! And thanks to him, we know definitively that the window into our eyes tells the entire story. - Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses the following: Light and thyroid function Research done on ducks with red light to the eyes Research on mice and rabbits in light Light and sexual function The sexual function in starlings and jays - being exposed to red light at night Testosterone production in males The importance of light entering the energetic portion of your eye How light stimulates gonadal activity Research on how red light stimulates testicular development Research on how light and temperature control increases egg production in birds How you can determine the sex of your dog by the lighting conditions Increase in oxytocin due to increased light exposure How light affects the growth of deer antlers Light and adrenal and petuitary functions Natural light and artificial fluorescent light How all organisms are affected by the day/ night sequence How too much artificial light leads to pathological changes in the organism The monotony of artificial lighting How natural sunlight balances our stress hormones How we were raised through evolution by full-spectrum sunlight Light pollution and the importance of light and metabolism in man and animal - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook
Ep 43How Light Influences Overall Health via the Eye, Pt. 2
In the second part of this three-part series on The Red Light Report, we are going to continue learning from one of the top light pioneers and light researchers of all-time, Fritz Hollwich, via his book The Influence of Ocular Light Perception on Metabolism in Man and in Animal. For a quick review, we covered the following topics in last week's episode: the energetic portion of the optic nerve, light and the pineal gland and light and growth. That information laid the foundation for understanding the true impact that light has on our physiology. Backed by research from the early 1900s no less! This week, we will be learning the following topics: light and body temperature, light and kidney function, light and blood count and light and metabolic functions. We will continue to uncover powerful research demonstrating the impact of light, but now in different areas of our biology. This further proves just how profound the light environment you surround yourself on a consistent basis truly is. It doesn't just impact one area of your health and wellness, it virtually impacts ALL facets of health and wellness -- via the energetic pathway of your eye. As always, buckle up for some learning and enjoy! - Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses the following: Light and body temperature How light affects all aspects of our health Circadian rhythm of body temperature in adults How infants don’t have a circadian rhythm What happens when the circadian rhythm changes and how that disturbs body temperature The impact of light through your eye Light and kidney function Light and water balance How blindness leads to more water retention How circadian rhythm is impacted by shifted work schedules Light and blood count How blood is so closely involved with the whole organism Light and its effects on the immune system and white blood cells Light and metabolic function Lipid metabolism Light and protein metabolism Liver metabolism Light and blood sugar How animals are easier to fatten in dark places than when kept in bright areas How our light environment has real consequences - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook
Ep 42How Light Influences Overall Health via the Eye, Pt. 1
It's a new year, which means this is a perfect time to learn some groundbreaking, foundational information regarding light and the eye from the early- and mid-1900s. That's correct, I said "groundbreaking" and the 1900s in the same sentence! Beginning on this week's episode of The Red Light Report, we are embarking on a three-part solosode series that will (likely) change the way you think about light, your eyes and their impact on your overall health and wellness... and, believe it or not, I am not talking about your eyesight or vision. In fact, what if I told you that vision was the second most important aspect of your eyes?Ironically, the majority of the eye-opening research I will be citing during these episodes has been around for over fifty years -- and some, almost 100 years -- yet I can virtually guarantee that you have never heard this information before. It's curious how this all-important information about light and our eyes has been lying around in the archives of libraries and the annals of the internet for decades and decades, only to be ignored and/or never given the proper attention it sincerely deserves.... Hence, this three-part solosode series! The book I will be referencing in these episodes is The Influence of Ocular Light Perception on Metabolism in Man and in Animal, by German researcher and ophthalmologist Fritz Hollwich. This guy was way before his time! In his book, Hollwich clearly demonstrates, through his and others research, the countless ways that light impacts health via our eye. Again, in this instance vision (or our "visual pathway") is not the key factor, as there is an alternate pathway that induces these physiological benefits; what Hollwich called an "energetic pathway."I am excited to be presenting this information to you, as the first time I read this book and the research presented, it left my jaw on the ground and my socks knocked off. These episodes are going to be jam-packed with cutting-edge information that you will assuredly find paradigm-shifting and will undoubtedly cause you to pause and reconsider your light environment for your health's sake. Buckle up and enjoy! - On this solosode, Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses the following: The profound effects sunlight has on our biology How light is a primal element of life An excerpt from Fritz Hollwich How artificial light cannot replace sunlight Grounding with the earth How the earth’s electromagnetic field is nourishing to our bodies The negative effects of fluorescent light The energetic portion of the optic nerve Light and the pineal gland Symptoms that receded after sufficient exposure to sunlight Our light environment and how it affects health conditions and diseases Blindness and its effect on benefits from light The third eye Melatonin and how light stimulates it Research done by Wimmer in 1856 on how light affects the blind - Resources: The Influence of Ocular Light Perception on Metabolism in Man and in Animal, Fritz Hollwich - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook
Ep 41The Frequency of Love, PEMF Therapy & Photobiomodulation Research on Reducing Hyper-Inflammation & Treating Core Features of Autism
On the last episode of The Red Light Report this year, I decided it would be fun to take a slight deviation and learn about therapies that involve healing frequencies other than light. I will discuss the healing benefits of sound, specifically 528Hz that is also known as the "frequency of love" and the "frequency of health and longevity." We will then turn our attention to pulsed electromagnetic therapy, better known as PEMF therapy, and the many benefits that can be derived from these frequencies; interestingly, PEMF therapy shares many similar attributes to those found with red light therapy. Lastly, we will dive into two pieces of photobiomodulation research: one article looking at PEMF and red light therapy for reducing the hyper-inflammation associated with COVID-19 and another article looking at how transcranial red light therapy can assist with treating the core features of autism spectrum disorder. I want to say thank you to every single one of you that listens to The Red Light Report. What started out as a spontaneous undertaking to help get the word out about red light therapy and the many benefits it possesses has turned into a passion project and a platform that has allowed me to share my and other experts' knowledge and experiences with red light therapy (along with the many topics within health, wellness and longevity) and also continuously disseminate the newest and best photobiomodulation research. My hope is that you find the podcast informational, thought-provoking and applicable.Even though there are countless ways to utilize red light therapy, I believe we are just beginning to harness the full potential it has to offer. I am excited to see what new research comes out in 2022 and you better believe I will be sharing that information with you all on the podcast. So I appreciate all of you for tuning in to the podcast and also for your patience as I grow as a podcast host and interviewer -- something I never planned on attempting before the beginning of this year, but has genuinely helped me grow as a person in many ways.To your health, wellness & longevity,Dr. Mike Belkowski - On this solosode, Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses the following: Frequency-related gifts he traded during Christmas Photobiomodulation research Transcranial red light therapy and its effect on autism Healing benefits from sound DNA repair from 528 Hz Other benefits and applications for 528 H sound PEMF mats (Pulse Electromagnetic field mats) The mitochondria and how they produce ATP Optimizing your mitochondrial health The top 8 benefits of PEMF therapy How photobiomodulation can reduce inflammation Photobiomodulation research and autism - Citations: Therapeutic application of light and electromagnetic fields to reduce hyper-inflammation triggered by COVID-19 Transcranial Photobiomodulation in Adults with High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder: Positive Findings from a Proof-of-Concept Study - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook

Ep 36Mineral Optimization for Exercise Recovery, Healing, & Optimal Health w/ Barton Scott
On this week's episode of The Red Light Report, I interview an individual I met in Miami last month at Biohacking Congress. Today's guest, Barton Scott, approached me after my presentation on red light therapy and we immediately hit it off. And not just because we were like-minded individuals attending a biohacking conference. It also helped that we are both passionate about helping others heal and thrive at the foundational level -- treating the root cause versus providing the metaphorical band-aid. Where I love to advocate and utilize light, Barton is an expert in and proponent of optimizing mineral levels. He has an intriguing story of how his health journey led him down a path that eventually led him to founding Upgraded Formulas, one of the most trusted companies for mineral supplementation. As we all know, it's an n = 1 game when it comes to personalized health, but I think Barton says it best: "Test, Don't Guess!" Barton is a biochemist, founder, nutritionist, and a researcher. For the last 6 years, Barton has been the founder and process developer behind Upgraded Formulas. Supplements at Upgraded Formulas are absorbed into the body’s cells quickly due to the particle size and proprietary stability mechanisms; they largely bypass digestion for an enhanced improvement in absorption over regular liquids, pills and powders, which means increased effectiveness for you despite smaller doses. Ep 35Biohacking w/ Biological Dentistry, Nootropics & Psychedelics, Hydration & Mineral Balancing, & Avoiding Junk Light w/ Tim Gray
On this week's episode of The Red Light Report, we are keeping with the biohacking theme and staying on "the other side of the pond," with the UK's leading biohacker, Tim Gray. Tim has a seemingly typical story of someone that was stricken with health issues, turned to traditional medicine to no avail and, thus, sought out alternative, holistic solutions. But he didn't stop there -- not by a long shot. Because the biohacking scene was vitrually non-existent in London, or the UK altogether for that matter, he took it upon himself to introduce it to his country by putting together a biohacking conference. In a short period of time, the Health Optimisation Summit has become one of the most wildly popular biohacking conferences in the world! In this episode, you get to hear how Tim pulled that off along with other topics, such as biological dentistry, affirmations, nootropics, water, red light therapy and much, much more! Tim Gray, "The UK’s leading Biohacker", is the founder of the Health Optimisation Summit. As a psychology specialist, serial entrepreneur, and successful businessman, Tim founded and invested in multiple 7-figure businesses, including several digital marketing agencies and London’s first private Hyperbaric Oxygen Clinic. After years spent self-healing his body from chronic health conditions through biohacking alone, Tim embarked on a mission to educate and empower the masses. As such, he created The Health Optimisation Summit, Europe’s largest health conference, which aims to provide people with the knowledge, tools, and resources to take their own health and performance to the next level. The summit is a world-first collaboration between the US-based health titans: Bulletproof Biohacking Conference, and PaleoF(x), which showcases the best speakers from the health, biohacking, fitness, longevity, nutrition, and function and preventative medicine spaces. Tim is also the man behind the Biohacker London Meetup group, a growing global community which laid the foundation in the UK for the summit’s success. Ep 34Dr. Mike Belkowski Speaks at Biohacking Congress: Mitochondria, Electrons, Redox Potential, & Photobiomodulation Research
Last month in Miami, I had the privilege of speaking to biohacking enthusiasts about red light therapy at Biohacking Congress. It was a fun challenge for me in terms of trying to divulge the red light therapy knowledge I accumulated over the years -- from countless books about light to hundreds of hours of reading the scientific research to attending photobiomodulation courses -- and distill it into a presentation under 40 minutes.Luckily for you, on this week's episode of The Red Light Report, you get to be a fly on the humid, sunny wall of downtown Miami, as I attempt to explain the proverbial nuts and bolts of how and why red light therapy works; and not just that, but how and why it can help with a seemingly endless list of health and wellness conditions. Does it get a little science-y? Yes, a little. But not enough to scare you off to another episode. Yet enough for you to truly grasp what red and near-infrared light does to you at the physiological level, as that is where the rubber meets the road in understanding why red light therapy is becoming wildly popular in the health, wellness, longevity and biohacking worlds. In the first half of my presentation, I go over keep concepts such as: mitochondria, bioenergetics, mitochondrial dysfunction, sunlight, mal-illumination, cytochrome c oxidase, electron transport chain, mitochondrial theory of aging and redox potential. In the second half of my talk, I go over a variety of photobiomodulation research articles to demonstrate and impress upon people the many ways in which red light therapy can heal and optimize one's health. My hope is that you come away from this episode with an enhanced understanding and respect for red light therapy and its limitless potential we are just now beginning to tap into. Please enjoy! - At Biohacking Congress in Miami, Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses the following: His background, education, and approach to private practice The potential of red light therapy to heal The mitochondria and its role in energy production and disease How we’ve been focusing on the nuclear genome and not the mitochondrial How aging is just mitochondrial dysfunction Light and sun exposure Malillumination and its negative consequences to lifespan Infrared saunas vs red light therapy The Electron Transport Chain How extra free radicals speeds up aging Redox potential Red light therapy research and benefits for eye, gut, and oral health Red light therapy for pain Red light therapy and exercise pre conditioning Skin health Sleep & circadian rhythm Thyroid health Things you can stack with red light therapy - Watch this episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/1iG2RbR7WD8 - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook

Ep 33Mastering the Biology of Resilience, Immunity & Longevity w/ Dr. Olli Sovijärvi
Sometimes you just need to recalibrate and get back to the basics; work on the fundamentals of health versus looking for the newest, coolest thing out there. There is a time and place for utilizing new adjuvants and pieces of technology to help optimize your well-being, but what is the point of adding more if your foundation isn't solid and resilient to begin with? That is what I admire about today's guest from Finland, Dr. Olli Sovijärvi. As someone who is deeply entrenched in the biohacking and technology world, he still advocates for - and instills in his daily routine - the (free) fundamentals of health, which almost all go back to nature or within one's self. On this week's episode of The Red Light Report, Dr. Sovijärvi discusses how anyone can become mentally and physically resilient, seasonal HRV, why he believes everyone should be implementing red light therapy into their health regimen and much more! Dr. Olli Sovijärvi is one of the pioneers of holistic medicine in Finland. At the beginning of his career, Dr. Sovijärvi worked as a medical duty officer at the Finnish Red Cross Blood Service. In 2006 he graduated from the University of Helsinki with a Licentiate degree in Medicine and became self-employed in 2008. In 2010–2011, Dr. Sovijärvi completed an Integral Theory degree at John F. Kennedy University, focusing on psychology and philosophy. For the first five years of his career as a physician, Dr Sovijärvi was employed by Finland’s first medical recruitment agency. The job description involved scheduled patient care as well as emergency care and being on call. He has worked at nearly 50 different clinics around Finland. His numerous media appearances, social media articles, and Finland’s first health podcast have expanded the general public’s awareness of what healthcare can be. Dr. Sovijärvi has also acted as a consultant to various companies and service providers operating in the fields of wellness and health technology. Between 2013–18, Dr. Sovijärvi practiced medicine at a private clinic that specializes in nutrition and holistic health care. The clinic employs physicians and nurses practicing holistic medicine. The clinic features the only trace-element laboratory in Finland. At present, Dr. Sovijärvi focuses primarily on the production of scientific content for preventive healthcare and wellbeing. He also runs training sessions and presentations on the topics of biohacking, performance optimization, nutritional issues, and maintaining the intestinal balance. In his free time he enjoys athletics, playing with his child, music, and good humor. - Dr. Mike Belkowski & Dr. Olli Sovijärvi discuss the following: His background in health, wellness, and biohacking The shift in people becoming proactive health advocates in their own wellness The book he is currently working on - The Resilient Being: Master the Biology of Resliience, Immunity, and Longevity Resilience and how people should be boosting it for their health and longevity How you can boost your resilience with nature and technology Grounding and its many benefits How he tracks his biometrics How to optimize your heart rate variability (HRV) and sleep score Seasonal changes in our heart rate variability Breathing techniques to optimize heart rate variability Spiritual resilience and meditation Red light therapy and how he uses it Red light therapy distance, duration, exposure, and frequency Testosterone and red light therapy How he was healed by red light therapy Enamel erosion and how red light therapy could mitigate it Events he is doing and how you can keep up with him Things you can do today to improve your resilience - Watch this episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/b5CUIn9Xo9o - Check out Dr. Sovijärvi's books, courses, & products: Resilient Being Book: https://biohack.to/resilientbeing Shop.biohackercenter.com Biohackersummit.com Find him on Instagram: @ollisovijarvi & @biohackingbook - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook

Ep 27Energy & Emotions, Frequency Therapy & Acupuncture vs. Dry Needling w/ Dr. Christopher Motley
When you're talking about energy and how it affects your emotions, it helps when you're listening and learning from someone that has a wealth of positive vibrations himself. And today's guest on The Red Light Report, Dr. Christopher Motley, has those vibrations in spades. Dr. Motley appreciates the art and science of both eastern and western medicine. To say that one form of medicine is better than the other can only create tension and disharmony. He believes sickness comes from tension and disharmony. Alignment, ease, and detachment create a space for healing. When all forms of healthcare can fall into alignment, in their proper place, the greatest healing for a patient can occur. A practitioner that believes he or she has the only answer to one person's health only creates unhealthy attachments and disharmony. Dr. Motley believes a healthcare practitioner should desire a space for healing as much as they want it for their patient.Like myself, Dr. Motley started his practice in a "hole in the wall" location, yet he was able to build up his clientele and establish himself as a healing expert with his alternative, holistic treatment techniques that includes Chinese medicine, frequency healing, acupuncture and red light therapy. We got into detail about he early health scares; how and why he decided to forge his unique path as a professional in the healthcare field; his unique and efficacious treatment techniques; his thoughts on energy, resonance, emotions, acupuncture/dry needling and so much more... Dr. Motley is an absolute joy to listen and learn from. I know you will enjoy this episode! - Dr. Mike Belkowski talks with Dr. Christopher Motley about the following: Frequency therapy Healing with frequencies of light His history and how he got into clinical kinesiology, health scares he’s had, and how he has built up his practice How frequency medicine with sound and light has an effect on your body The difference between dry needling and acupuncture How dry needling is superior to acupuncture for reducing pain The nervous system and how needles interact with our body’s electricity Energy, resonance, and how your emotions are effected by the electromagnetic spectrum Chinese medicine and how the liver is associated with anger How every organ has a different emotion How your emotions can change your biochemistry 5G and its correlation to your body’s energy Red light therapy and his experience with it - Watch this episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/H9C_Kbjx7yQ - Find him on social media: Instagram @Doctormotley Facebook @Doctormotley Go to his website: doctormotley.com - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook

Ep 23True Hydration & Structured Water w/ Tracy Duhs
The importance of hydration to your daily health and wellness cannot be understated. But simply drinking water, even crystal clean water, is simply not enough. And while there may be more steps to take or things to consider to optimize your hydration routine, the implications for your wellbeing are monumental.Fortunately, I was able to have a fun, enlightening conversation with my dear friend, Tracy Duhs, on this week's episode of The Red Light Report. Not only is Tracy extremely knowledgable and an expert in the world of water, but she is one of the most positive and happy people you will cross paths with. Ep 18Oral Health & Red Light Therapy
Did you know that the oral cavity has the second largest and most diverse microbiota after the gut, harboring over 700 species of bacteria? The progression of health or regression toward disease is critically influenced by the microbiota. In addition to being the initiation point of digestion, the oral microbiome is crucial in maintaining both oral and systemic health. The oral microbiome rests within biofilms throughout the oral cavity and forms an ecosystem that maintains health in a state of homeostasis. However, particular imbalances in this state of equilibrium allow pathogens to develop and cause disease. This disruption of the oral microbiome leads to dysbiosis, which is an imbalance in the microbial community that is associated with a myriad of diseases -- most of which show up in various organs and systems throughout our entire body!In this episode, you will be learning about the multitude of negative downstream health effects of a dysbiotic oral cavity and why more of your health and wellness begins in your mouth than you may have previously thought. We will also go through the photobiomodulation research on oral health, where you will see that there are countless ways that red light therapy can help optimize your oral hygiene and oral "vigor." Lastly, you will hear about the newest piece of red light therapy technology that was developed specifically for the mouth and oral health. - Dr. Mike Belkowski talks about the following: An innovative way to use red light therapy for oral health How the oral biome impacts a multitude of health systems How connected your oral health is to gut health 70% or more of the immune system is located in the gut; however, immunity begins in the mouth Cardiovascular health A link between bacteria that causes both gum disease and Alzheimer's in the brain The direct correlation between poor dental health, tooth pain, bleeding gums, and anxiety/ depression The endocrine system Obesity and its link to the oral microbiome Nitric oxide production, how it supports the body’s natural repair processes, and how red light therapy helps with it Diets that support the gut microbiome More electrons = less inflammation; ways to get free electrons Factors that affect the oral microbiome such as how you were born Photobiomodulation research as it relates to oral health (see works cited below) How the power of light reduces pain, improves quality of life, and improves functionality Low level laser therapy (LLLT) and how it is an effective treatment for canker sores, oral health, and more The Guardian - BioLight’s newest red light therapy product that improves oral health - The Guardian is the first red light therapy oral care device of its kind, with patent-pending technology that implements dual LEDs, giving you the healing power from both red and near-infrared (NIR) light! - To learn even more about how you can improve your health via your oral microbiome, check out The Dental Diet, by Dr. Steven Lin or Heal Your Oral Microbiome, by Cass Nelson-Dooley. - Pre-order The Guardian here! - Listen to the Dr. Kelly Blodgett episode on oral health here - Works Cited Cronshaw, Mark et al. “Photobiomodulation and Oral Mucositis: A Systematic Review.” Dentistry journal vol. 8,3 87. 5 Aug. 2020, doi:10.3390/dj8030087 Uslu MÖ, Akgül S. Ep 16Holistic Wellness: Optimizing Your Sleep, Nutrition, Testosterone, & Light w/ Dr. Tyler Jean
This week's guest on The Red Light Report is an absolute wealth of knowledge when it comes to holistic health and wellness and, on top of that, is an absolute positive, kindhearted human being.Dr. Tyler Jean is ultimately passionate about educating others on the importance of food as medicine while inspiring them to embrace healthier lifestyles. He is a former Division I swimmer and a recovering perfectionist. Dr. Jean received his B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology and just graduated (this past week -- congrats!) from his medical schooling and is now a Naturopathic Doctor. Dr. Jean embarked on his medical journey after becoming frustrated with the medical system and having his own share of health issues, including generalized anxiety, asthma, eczema, and ADHD. He found a lot of healing in food, so he originally started his Instagram account as a vegan recipe page during his 18-month journey as a vegan foodie. However, through trial and error he learned that the catabolic nature of a strict vegan diet ultimately became incompatible with his body and left him depleted and cachectic. After spending several years in both laboratory (neuroscience) and clinical research (type I diabetes), he decided to pursue a career in clinical care — one that took an integrative, holistic, and preventative approach to medicine. Now freshly graduated, he gets to apply his experiences, knowledge and expertise to his patients in a clinical setting. Needless to say, patients that are lucky enough to be under the care of Dr. Jean are in profoundly compassionate and healing hands. - Dr. Mike Belkowski & Dr. Tyler Jean discuss the following: His passion for educating others on the importance of food as medicine while inspiring them to embrace healthy lifestyles How we can prevent disease through specific lifestyle changes His experience with schooling and why he chose the allopathic model His experience being in medical school during the pandemic How much he learned about light in med school and its impact on health His methods of assessing root causes of problems The pillars of health we should focus on Community, its importance and impact on our health, and how to better implement it in our lives Optimizing your sleep, sleep environment, and circadian rhythm Anecdotal experience of using red light therapy for patients and whether it stimulates or sedates them Melatonin, the “melatonin hangover”, and his opinion on supplementing it Structured water and how he makes his own How you can structure your water via red and near-infrared light How he initially learned about red light therapy Photobiomodulation research that stands out to him the most Testosterone and how red light therapy boosted his levels What happens on the cellular level with red light therapy to boost testosterone His upcoming 10-week course on Integrated and Holistic Nutrition Things you can implement today to optimize your health, wellness, and longevity - Watch the YouTube video of this episode here: https://youtu.be/p8EIMJUUV5E - Find out more about him here: tylerjean.com Instagram: @functional.foods - Don't forget to check out these health-related recommendations from previous podcast guests! - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook
