The match-up between two of the NFL’s oldest rivals was intense, and the Lions came out on top. Detroit showed why they are a force to be reckoned with, as they were able to contain Aaron Rodgers and the Packers’ high-powered offense. The Detroit Lions have put the NFC North on notice for 2023. With the firing of head coach Matt Rhule this year, the Carolina Panthers chances were written off early. Sam Darnold has played surprisingly well for a team that also ditched its starting quarterback in Baker Mayfield. Forecast to be one of the coldest games ever played in Carolina. As a major storm sweeps across the United States, a number of games are at risk of having the weather create difficult playing conditions. The Detroit Lions face the Minnesota Vikings for the first time at home in the 2022 NFL season. Lions fans are looking for a huge win that could propel Dan Campbell’s Detroit Lions to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Chris and Jeff are back with the latest Detroit Lions rumors and news. If the Lions can get Jameson Williams lined up against the Jags Montaric Brown, magic could happen very quickly. Amon Ra St Brown should have some great opportunities over the middle as well. This is going to be a game that hinges on the ability of the Detroit Lions offense to score. They put up the points, and they’ll walk away winners this week. On the Defensive side of the ball, the Lions have Jeff Okudah, Romeo Okwara, and Josh Paschal returning to the team from injuries, and just as other teams are feeling the pain of injuries, the Detroit Lions are starting to get healthy. If the Lions defense can play the way they have the last few weeks and Aidan Hutchinson and and Alim McNeil can continue their strong run, the Detroit Lions have a great opportunity to shut down the Jacksonville Jaguars offense. They’ve ridden the strength of their defensive front and cornerback play to that record, and we’ll discuss how the Detroit Lions offensive line stood up to the test. Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, and Darius Slayton will be putting the Detroit Lions defense to the test. The New York Giants key vulnerabilities are at linebacker, safety and at the slot corner position, so we’ll see if the Detroit Lions offense was able capitalize in the middle of the field at Met Life stadium. Jared Goff will likely be leaning on Brock Wright, Jamaal Williams, D’Andre Swift, and Shane Zylstra to move the ball. With the potential return of DJ Chark, the Lions might be able to put the Giants safeties to the test deep as well. Coming off of a two win streak, the Detroit Lions are riding high hoping to put a third win in the bag. A win against the New York Giants would put the Lions in 2nd place in the NFC north, something considered inconceivable three weeks ago. Once the started designing the offense around Justin Fields as a dual threat, they started finding success in the NFL. This feels like a good week to start mixing in Justin Fields arm with his ground game and frustrating the Detroit Lions game plan. There’s no guarantee that Justin Fields can execute an NFL-caliber passing attack, and the Detroit Lions are looking to prove that he can’t. With the return of Jerry Jacobs across the field from Jeff Okudah, and Kerby Joseph rising fast, the Detroit Lions have new found trust in their secondary that didn’t exist earlier in the year. Josh Paschal and John Cominsky returning from injury have bolstered the Detroit Lions defensive line to a level of play it hasn’t been able to achieve until recently. The tale of this game is going to revolve around the play of Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions offense. The Lions offense has been maddening in its inconsistency this year. Detroit Lions Podcast Eyes The Dallas Cowboys Many Detroit Lions fans decided the bye week was a great time to walk away from the team and reset their expectations. Maybe re-prioritize the team, get some family time in, and maybe even hit the cider mill to grab some donuts and cider. A quick week slides bye, and here we are back at Detroit Lions game day, facing off against another opponent, and ready to be disappointed. The Dallas Cowboys are at home, getting Dak Prescott back, likely to change things up on defense, and are licking their chops to finally face a defense with problems like the Detroit Lions squad. Many Lions fans have already written this game off and are looking toward a game they think the Lions might have a better chance of winning. This is exactly when the Detroit Lions strike and put together a game in which they otherwise had been written off. The Lions have a top 5 scoring offense in the NFL, and after the Patriots game, teams think they have the Lions offense figured out. As a team that has low expectations from fans, a loss is just “par for the course” SOL etc. A win? The fan base would be revitalized, the SOL crew would be quieted, and the conversation will be about whether the bye week was the moment that cemented the “greatness” of the Detroit Lions and was the launch pad for their success going forward. When analyzing how the Lions can improve their defense, all eyes point to first round pick, Aidan Hutchinson. In this episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Jeff are back at it to discuss the latest Detroit Lions news and rumors. This week Chris and Jeff get together to discuss the latest from the Detroit Lions ahead of the start of the 2022 NFL season and the final episode of Hard Knocks. The Lions ended the series in a grand fashion, and we got to see a whole lot more of what makes this team tick. It obviously bodes well for the locker room, but will it translate to performance on the football field? The Detroit Lions just faced one of the most difficult days of the year for a front office that actually cares about its players. The Lions cut their roster down to the NFL mandated 53 players as well as assembled their practice squad of reserve players. As Tony Soprano would say, “whatta’ ya gonna do?” Detroit Lions Podcast OTAs are Underway The Detroit Lions OTA have started, Jeff has been there as a witness and will bring back what he’s seen so far from Aidan Hutchinson and the rest of the team with his look at how things are shaping up so far. Remember – even Chris would look like a first overall pick in shorts, there’s a long way to go from here… Some injury information, Jameson Williams is there everyday, dying to get to work as he heals, as are the rest of the players we are looking to see make their return from injury this year. In this week’s show Chris and Jeff get together to break down the latest from Detroit Lions Rookie Camp, game schedule, St. Jude Charity Fundraiser, and more! There have been a number of great Detroit Lions press conferences over the course of the last week. The Detroit Lions draft picks have been at the mic, a number of vets, and we’ve seen how the players are moving in their walk-throughs. We’ll have our first impressions ready to share with you and a few predictions based on what we’ve seen so far. Detroit Lions Podcast – Rookies Are Checking All The Boxes Great work by the rookies so far, and great attitudes all around. There were some SOL fans talking about Jameson Williams not being happy to be with the team immediately following the draft, but he’s put those dopey takes straight to bed. Jamo is out there learning as much as he can while his knee continues to heal. There are a few conflicting opinions about his timing to hit the field, we’ll talk about those and what we expect. The Detroit Lions schedule came out after much anticipation. Some people feel disrespected, others appreciate how it landed. We’ll talk about that and share what we think about what it means and how it might change.
