The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 4th study session on The Zebra Murders: A Season of Killing, Racial Madness and Civil Rights. Authored by Bennett Cohen, Racist Suspect. Prentice Sanders is classified as a black male and is credited with serving almost 40 full years with the San Francisco Police Department. This murder case reportedly involved random White people being killed by random black dudes. These killings took place at the same time that both the Black Panther Party and the nefarious Symbionese Liberation Army were in operation in the Bay Area. In addition to these infamous social clubs, Rev. Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple were well established in San Francisco's Fillmore district by 1973. And we're told the negro murder suspects visit a muslim mosque at the corner of Geary and Fillmore. The Peoples Temple was at located at 1859 Geary Boulevard. The University of Washington's Special Collections's Book Club examines Mat Johnson's Incognegro: A Graphic Mystery. Gus was fascinated to learn more about a book club with mostly White people reading a comic book about the lynching and castration of black males. The author, Mat Johnson, is so pale that he might be able to "pass" as a White person. This greatly influences the narrative, where the main character "passes" as a White man to investigate the wrongful imprisonment and planned lynching of his black brother - who has too much melanin to "pass." Be mindful of the terms used to describe or elide the System of White Supremacy and note the various ways that White people suggest they are ignorant about Racism. In Wisconsin, it's reported that a police informant testified that Sade Robinson's alleged White killer planned weeks in advance to slaughter and dismember the 19-year-old black female. Gus cannot emphasize more stringently that non-white people should never discuss politics on the job. No non-white person is paid to share their opinions on the current polls, vice presidential candidates, or any other issues related to the ballot box. If White or non-white co-workers ask who you're voting for or your opinion on a candidate, politely decline. I've never heard of a non-white person who secured a raise or promotion because of their Obama t-shirt. We also discuss summertime workplace fashion and if it's acceptable to wear short pants on the job. Credited with helping to put four Klu Klux Klan members and a serial killer into greater confinement, Mitchell was awarded a MacArthur “genius” grant and nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in journalism. Mitchell, who’s a White Man, authored the book Race Against Time, which examines the history of White Terrorist violence in the “magnolia state” - much of it involving Race Soldiers who successfully evaded prosecution for killing black people. We’ll examine Mitchell’s coverage of more recent Terrorist violence in the state. The 2011 lynching of James Craig Anderson, who was killed by a mob of young White teens who went hunting for a black person to kill. During the exchange, Trump called journalist Rachel Scott a rude, "fake news" lackey for ABC. He charged Vice President Kamala Harris with adjusting her racial classification (black/indian) to suit her needs and suggested she may be a "DEI hire." Trump also hammered one of his major campaign talking points, that invading non-white people are taking "black jobs." Scott, who was the only interviewer who used the term "White Supremacy," asked Trump to explain the curious phrase "black jobs." Trump spoke with the National Association of Black Journalists about his presidential ambitions and concerns for black people. During the course of the discussion, he emphasized his campaign talking point that illegal non-white immigrants are taking "black jobs." Black female journalist Rachel Scott, who was widely rebuked as rude and "discourteous" for her questioning of Trump, asked for clarification of the phrase "black jobs." Trump replied: "Anybody that has a job." #NotLogicalProbablyRacist The former president concluded his forty minute exchange by reminding black viewers: "These people are taking your jobs." The Context of White Supremacy (C.O.W.S.) Radio Program welcomes Dr. Sherwin Assari. An “associate professor of family medicine at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, Los Angeles,” Dr. Assari examines “the intersection of race, ethnicity, gender, and place in changing causes and consequences of health. Dr. Assari has published more than 350 papers on topics such as race, social determinants, and health equity.” Gus learned about his research during this week’s discussion with Dr. Yamonte Cooper - who cites a number of Dr. Assari work in his new book, Black Men and Racial Trauma. Dr. Assari has years of research examining the different ways the System of White Supremacy impacts people classified as black. Much of his research suggests that black males are subjected to more intense forms of abuse and these same black dudes report that having more money or glamorous employment does not offer protection from Racism. In fact, for black males, having higher “socio-economic status” may cause more distress and Racial aggression. Following the earlier program, Dr. Cooper wrote Gus to say that it's unwise to say that black males are treated "worse" than other non-white people and that this phrasing promotes a "zero sum" perspective of viewing abuse. The C.O.W.S. Neutralizing Workplace Racism 07/26/24. A black female officer on the Fresno Police Department alleges she was subject to sexual and Racist abuse in the workplace. She said White officers made lewd sexual remarks about her body and charged that the black females were hired as a form of Racial Showcasing to make the department appear to be not racist and "progressive." 23-year-old Amya Brooks charges that White officers told her black females had "bad reputations" and were "untrustworthy." Ms. Brooks' lawsuit is pending, but Gus T. hopes she took extensive notes to document every tacky remark and instance of mistreatment. It should be emphasized that Brooks worked with White law enforcement officers. Trump was allegedly shot at during a Butler, Pennsylvania campaign rally. Most of the images shown of suspected gunman Thomas Matthews Crooks suggest this promising lad just finished middle school. Crooks was free, White and 20 years old. In the week since the shooting, which left one spectator and Crooks dead, Pres. Biden contracted the Rona and Hulk Hogan gave the coup de grâce at the Republican National Convention. The geriatric ex-grappler and Racist Suspect ripped his shirt to flex his full-throated support for "Trumpamania." Meanwhile, Pres. Obama and many others asked Biden to "reconsider" his bid for re-election, or downright withdrew their finances and asked him to quit the race. In Georgia, Noah Noah, 8-yr-old privileged black boy, drowned in a "borrow" pit. Aside from the heatwave and political strife, July 19 started ominously with the a global Microsoft outage that disrupted flights and crippled industries around the globe. We'll see if any C.O.W.S. listeners had the end of their work week disrupted by the electronic chaos. In California, Elon Musk announced he's ditching the "golden state" for Texas in response to Governor Gavin Newsom announcing new legislation that prohibits educators from informing parents if their offspring are considering changing their gender. The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 6th and final study session on Kenneth Wooden's The Children of Jonestown. Wooden was a journalist at the time of the Guyana genocide and wrote extensively about the mass murder during 1978 and 1979. Like Meiers, Wooden is classified as a White Man. Having immersed ourselves into the life and times of the Rev. Jim Jones, we'll seek better answers about how "father" was able to acquire and kill nearly 300 children - most of them classified as black. Last week, Wooden again implied that Jim Jones was trained and mentored by privileged black male Father Divine. He details how Tim Carter, a White temple member, supplied Jones was critical information while in South America. Importantly, Carter was able to fly from San Francisco to Guyana. Most of the black church members were tricked and sequestered on cramped, jalopy buses that trekked from California to Florida, then they boarded a ship like slaves. Many black children and older people, like Dee Dee Smith, were literally bound, drugged and kidnapped to a foreign continent where they were killed. Wooden again descried the black people in Jonestown being treated like "slaves" - which is widespread in reports on the Peoples Temple. When detailing the security at Jonestown, Wooden detailed the firearms and crossbows that were found. Gus asked how many C.O.W.S. listeners would have the skill to use a crossbow to shoot a person. Way back in 2022, it was reported the privileged black male Jerrod Jones announced he was filing suit against the Rochester Fire Department for Racist conduct. Specifically, Jones charged that his White supervisor ordered him to attend a "mock" Juneteenth party with mostly White people. Buckets of fried chicken decorated the events and members of the Democratic party were cruelly mimicked. 2 years later, Jones received $75,000 in compensation now, and will get another $75,000 in 4 years upon his retirement. A C.O.W.S. investor informed Gus about a Florida teacher who might lose her teaching license as a result of wearing a face mask with a "black lives matter" slogan. For years, Gus T. has vigorously discouraged wearing any sort of paraphernalia or clothing branded with political messaging. It's a presidential election year, so expect an abundance of rhetoric and verbal sparring over candidates. Do not participate in these conversations on the job. Even if all of your co-workers are classified as black, it's not logical to assume that all of your black colleagues support "black lives matter" or any other political ideology or slogan. Your clothing/attire should not attract unnecessary attention or distract from your primary workplace objective: making as much money as possible while learning everything that is constructive. Also relating to clothing in the workplace, hours before this segment aired live, a White Man shot 14 people in Fordyce, Arkansas - a town of just over 3,000. 3 people were killed. Gus T. rose at 7am Pacific Daylight Time this Friday morning to catch Cornell University's "Heroes and Hoteliers" presentation with black male scholars Calvin Stovall and Victor Younger. They discussed the fascinating history of black hotel owners and innovators - which even included black female entrepreneur Rebecca Howard right in here in Gus's Washington state. This genocide has countless parallels to our recent literary selections - Columbine, Michael Swango, and The Hart murder-suicide. The Rev. Jim Jones, a White man born in a Racially Restricted Region of Indiana, took a thousand people from California to Guyana. On November 18th, 1978, Jones killed nearly all 1,000 of his mostly black followers and orchestrated the assassination of Con. Leo Ryan. Some were shot, but most were poisoned with cyanide, just like "Double-0 Swango." For nearly 50 years, this event has been mostly understood as a bunch of brainwashed blacks following a White charlatan to their demise. Meiers' work suggests something more nefarious. Last week, we heard further analysis of the litany of books published in the immediate days and weeks following the Guyana holocaust. None of these books were authored by black people. Meiers stresses that most of these books fail to mention the connections between Jonestown and the CIA - or the CIA activities in South America at large during this same period. He still recommends reading and scrutinizing these books for details that reveal truth. White female journalist Mae Brussell took the same view on this topic. Gus was surprised to hear Meiers' theory that Mark Lane and Jonestown were used to distract from the 1978 House Select Committee on Assassinations, which was investigating the murders of President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mark Lane had written books and publicly suggested that a government conspiracy was involved in these assassinations. He was slated to speak at the congressional inquiry when Jonestown intruded. It's alleged that Lane knew that Jones planned to murder everyone, yet did nothing to alert authorities or prevent the massacre. He profited financially from representing the Peoples Temple and shacked up with "former" member Terri Buford for years. And he was lambasted in the press as an untrustworthy crackpot and likely Jones lackey who aided in the genocide. The University of Washington celebrated sociologist and Associate Professor Dr. LaShawnDa L. Pittman 2023 publication, Grandmothering While Black: A Twenty-First-Century Story of Love, Coercion, and Survival. A listener alerted Gus about this book when it was first published. Gus reminded them of The C.O.W.S.'s #WhiteGuestOnly policy. However, we did hear from Dr. Pittman earlier this year during the celebration of Dorothy Roberts's years of superb attempted counter-racist scholarship. Dr. Pittman was a part of a panel discussion that included Professor Roberts - the audio is in the archives. Gus saw advertisements for the coming celebration for the paperback publication of Dr. Pittman's important work on black grandmothers who serve as the primary caregiver for the their black grandchildren. Gus finally sits his hindparts down from two weeks of sprinting to the Seattle International Film Festival and the Travessias Brazilian Film Festival 2024. Professor Marc Arsell Robinson, author of Washington State Rising: Black Power on Campus in the Pacific Northwest, was the featured speaker at Seattle's Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI). The University of Washington's Simpson Center for the Humanities sponsored and promoted the event under the title: "Black Power and Solidarity on Campus and Beyond, the Denny Lecture." Most of the people in attendance were classified as White. Professor Robinson, black male, provided a wealth of constructive information on the counter-racist efforts of Seattle's black college students in the late 1960's. He made sure to include the COINTELPRO snooping that the FBI conducted on the UW's Black Student Union as soon as the group came into existence - which was in 1968. Robinson emphasized that the founding BSU members reached out to and stressed the importance of non-black, non-white students. Gus asked and received no information about non-white, non-black students making a similar effort to reach out to black students. We were also forced to endure a White Woman's query about the alleged sexism of the black males who founded the BSU. Gus T. finally caught his breath after attending the 50th annual Seattle International Film Festival. Gus has lived in the Seattle region for well over a decade and is embarrassed to say this is the first time I've attended the event in any capacity. It was particularly important that black males are often in worse physical health than their black female and non-black health counter-parts. Non-white people should be especially leery of any jobs that require you spend time in places that allow cigarette smoking indoors. The University of Washington hosts Linh Thủy Nguyễn, non-white female, to discuss her brand new book, Displacing Kinship: The Intimacies of Intergenerational Trauma in Vietnamese American Cultural Production. Gus T. caught a flier for this event, but was more intrigued after investigating Professor Nguyễn's earlier report: “Loving Couples and Families:” Assimilation as Honorary Whiteness and the Making of the Vietnamese Refugee Family. In this 2021 exploration, Nguyễn acknowledges how non-white people born in Vietnam and non-white people classified as Asian at large are positioned in opposition to and apart from non-white people classified as black. Gus felt this was important to acknowledge since there's a frequent assumption that all non-white people are working together to solve The Problem. This point became more salient when Gus attended the event and observed Professor Nguyễn's partner, who appears to be a White Man.🐮🔔 Gus won a brand new copy of Displacing Kinship and got a detailed signature from Professor Nguyễn.
