Then 26 year old civil engineer Andrew Gnazdowsky and a co-worker were on site completing a survey of a Nova Scotia Power dam near Sheet Harbour in October of 2020. When a technology failure disrupted their work, Andrew made the fateful decision to enter the water and collect the failed equipment. Moments later, Andrew would briefly yell for help before ultimately disappearing below the still water. In the year since Andrew's tragic death, the Gnazdowsky's have been steadfast in their belief that the investigation into Andrew's death has been at best flawed and at worst completely compromised… and it's not just a hunch that tells them that. Conflicts of interest, erroneous death records, the scrubbing online records, bureaucratic flip flopping, and opportunistic politicians... This story has all of it. Instead, they found a mystery man with an enticing job offer that would forever change their lives and the lives of everyone who loved them. Ronnie would do logging, Doreen could help in the kitchen, and their two kids would be taken care of at the remote camps daycare facility. Transportation wouldn't be a problem either, the mystery man could drive them to the camp that night. The last time any member of the Jack family was seen was only a few short hours later… packing some of their belongings in a truck. In this episode, our story will take us to the quite town of Wolfville, Nova Scotia. In September of 1992, then 20 year old Cape Bretoner, Kenley Matheson arrived in Wolfville to begin classes at Acadia University. Only two weeks into the school year, he was last seen by a friend walking on Main Street in Wolfville carrying a red and black backpack. There has not been any proof of life, or credible sightings of him since. On April 12th, 2016 something was happening in 16 year old Mekayla Bali's life, but that's about all we know for sure. She did get dropped off at school, but she didn't attend classes. Instead she walked a twisted route around town, making a series of puzzling stops along the way, each one piling mystery upon mystery until mid afternoon when her trail simply ends. Now, six years later her loved ones are still attempting to follow the clues left behind in hopes they lead to Mekayla. April 12, 2016, 16 year old Mekayla Bali failed to meet her ride home from her Yorkton, SK high school. It was then discovered Mekayla never attended classes that day, despite having been dropped off at the school earlier that morning. Over a year later, Mekayla has yet to be located and her family knows little more than they did that day. What started with photos, showing a high school teacher wearing very large prosthetic breasts, going viral online quickly evolved into international news coverage and now, like seemingly every hot topic that affects society, has devolved into disorganized protesting and public gatherings. Trafalgar High School has become the venue for protestors who are against all sorts of things, the wood shop teacher’s form of gender expression included. London, Ontario - Oct 13, 1983 17-year-old Donna-Jean Awcock was babysitting a neighbour's child in the apartment building next door to where she lived… Something she did regularly. When the child's mother returned home, in the early morning hours, she asked Donna run across the street to a convenience store before she left. This visit to the store which was only a stones throw away from her home is the last time Donna was seen alive. A gruesome discovery at a riverbank in the days later would explain what happened to her... but not who was responsible. This story will take us to Hamilton, Ontario in the time surrounding new year's day 2022. 23 year old mother of two Emily Bailey is juggling mental health struggles and addition while living a life resembling something between homelessness and couch surfing. Despite the instability of her lifestyle, Emily was reliable. She posted regularly to social media and had scheduled visits with her children that she would NEVER miss. But she did miss one in January and very quickly it was determined that no one had seen or heard from her in over a week. Now, over 4 months later, no sign of Emily has surfaced and given the transience of her life even the trail leading up to her disappearance is filled with mystery... obscured by conflicting statements of the unreliable witnesses of her last known days. All we know for certain is that her family is desperate to find her as well as the answers to the many questions associated with her disappearance. In this episode we hear from one of the broken hearted loved ones left behind. I'll be joined by Lori Bevan, Emily's mom, to discuss the still unexplained disappearance of her 23 year old daughter. Then 26 year old civil engineer Andrew Gnazdowsky and a co-worker were on site completing a survey of a Nova Scotia Power dam near Sheet Harbour in October of 2020. When a technology failure disrupted their work, Andrew made the fateful decision to enter the water and collect a piece of equipment. Moments later, Andrew would yell for help before ultimately disappearing below the still water. In the year since Andrew's tragic death, the Gnazdowsky's have been steadfast in their belief that the investigation into Andrew's death has been flawed at best, completely compromised at worst, and it's not just a hunch that tells them that. Nearly every step of the way it seems that Andrew's number one advocate, his sister Nicole Gnazdowsky, has been uncovering the kind of details that make a public inquiry a logical outcome. In this episode our story will take us to Bathurst, New Brunswick. On the morning of May 11th, 14-year-old Madison Roy Boudreau left home heading towards her school bus stop. When Madison didn't return home after school as expected, her dad was concerned. When she didn't return by curfew that night her father knew something was wrong. It's at that point the search for Madison begins. In the nearly twelve months since she was last seen developments in the case have changed the scope, the context, and the expectations of the search. The police force investigating Madison's case have made it clear that they aren't expecting for find her alive. Just after 4pm on August 18th, of 2021, 76 year old Paul Doughty walked up to McKay’s Wild Blueberrie’s roadside stand in Pennfield, NB and purchased a blueberry pie and a small cupcake style treat. Security camera footage shows the thin elderly man pay the cashier with a bill he pulls from his pocket before he walks out of view towards his parked vehicle pie in hand. This otherwise completely uneventful interaction is the last time Paul Doughty was seen and his family is desperate for answers. November 9 1996, three brothers spend the day with their non custodial father at his home in Torbay, Newfoundland. An hour before the boys were scheduled to be returned to their mother, she received a phone call from her estranged husband telling her he was not going to return the boys to her and had rigged his house to explode if anyone entered it. Despite the passage of over 25 years the father nor the three boys have been seen again. Unexpectedly, but not completely surprisingly, I received an email from a very excited lady from Quebec who claimed to have filmed some odd objects hovering in the sky near her home. She didn’t believe they planes or helicopters… Belia was convinced she witnessed something very unique and she wanted my opinion on the footage she captured. The video (which I’ve since enhanced and added to the Nighttime YouTube Channel) shows several bright, slow moving objects, travelling above the Ottawa river. It stumped me right off the bat and that doesn’t usually happen. Perhaps that’s why I wanted to figure this one out and I’m gonna take you along for the journey.
