Ep 60Lauren Salaun - Confessions of a Recovering Workaholic (And How to Heal from it)
Have you been overworking without getting what you think you deserve? Or are you not sure if you’re worthy of being known in the industry that you’re in? Then this episode is a must-listen! You will surely get you more inspired and motivated as my guest shares her experience from working 60-80 hours a week to having her own marketing agency where she helps other entrepreneurs get their message out there and show off what they’ve got! My guest today is Lauren Salaun — a PR and marketing consultant, media personality, speaker, and entrepreneur. She is a former health coach, personal trainer, fitness model and competitor. A lifelong athlete, Lauren spent the bulk of her career in public relations, crisis communications, and marketing before launching a health and fitness coaching business in 2015. While helping people live their healthiest lives and dipping her toes into the world of fitness competitions, Lauren continued her PR and social media consulting and coaching, supporting entrepreneurs in the health, wellness, lifestyle, and personal development industries in building their influence online and monetizing their social media. Lauren has extensive experience in public relations, marketing, and media, from crisis communications to running her own social media management company, being an on-air podcast personality, red-carpet host, and influencer, and of course today, running her own PR agency and being a sought-after speaker on public relations, influencer marketing, and visibility. In 2019, Lauren launched influence+IMPACT ["Influence And Impact"], a PR and influencer marketing agency, where she helps entrepreneurs elevate their visibility, strengthen their authority in their industry, and share their message on a global level so they can increase their income and make even more of an impact. A bit of Lauren Salaun’s story: Growing up, Lauren has always been very active. She has wonderful parents who raised her and her siblings so well. She also grew up with very high expectations from her parents and in her family, and they expect her to get straight A's, do all the sports, do music, do everything. Her parents argued a lot when she was growing up, and that’s one of the reasons why she wanted to give her best at everything -- to not add stress to the situation in their home. She double-majored in college, did a ton of singing in school after deciding not to play soccer. In her entire life, she was like, “You're gonna do all the things, and the goal is to be the best at all the things.” And that creates a recipe for burnout going nonstop. Her last job that she was at before becoming an entrepreneur and working for myself, was at a PR agency -- working like 60 to 80 hours a week, which gave her exhausting tons of burnouts. Why did Lauren leave her last job? She left simply because that wasn’t her passion, although she knows that she’s doing an important job because she works at a hospital industry, it’s just not really where her interests are. Also, Lauren wanted to have more freedom and flexibility over her schedule and how she works when she works. She wants to fit her work around her life rather than life around her work. What are some steps Lauren took to get herself to where she is today? Lauren is starting to have a morning routine -- a morning ritual that includes meditation, gratitudes, visualization, and all that “woo woo” stuff, that she never thought she would actually need. She knew that it was so important to start her day grounded, and not to start her day opening up emails, opening up social media, and getting right into work mode. She is carving out 5 to 10 minutes to say, “No, learn your boundaries. Your mental health should come first.” And that was a really powerful step for her. And three years ago, she did a really intensive leadership development and emotional intelligence program in a mastermind where they did some professional development stuff, which she always loved. But since she is going out on her own and becoming an entrepreneur, she has always found so much value in masterminds, or coaches, or just that collaborative community support type of structure and ongoing personal and professional development. The PR Accelerator Lauren and her team work with a number of entrepreneurs to get their message out there, book media, and all that kind of stuff. They can scale their business, bring in more money, and the biggest thing that they often work with everyone in that group is the mindset stuff. The Impostor Syndrome Impostor syndrome is when someone highly doubts their very own skills. An example of this given by Lauren is when somebody’s been like, “Oh my gosh, so and so got back to me about being on their podcast, which is crazy, I would have never thought…” And so, Lauren and her team are always reminding their clients to push the impostor syndrome out of the way, and stop comparing themselves because they have a massive value to add to their lane. Some words of wisdom from La

Ep 59Mark Divine - The Blueprint to Developing an Unbeatable Mindset
Are you looking for a BLUEPRINT on how to develop an UNBEATABLE MINDSET? Then this episode is a MUST LISTEN! My guest today is none other than Mark Divine — a New York Times best-selling author, leadership expert, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and retired U.S. Navy SEAL Commander. He is also the founder and CEO of SEALFIT and Unbeatable Mind and hosts the highly-rated weekly podcast, The Unbeatable Mind with Mark Divine. Mark's story is incredibly inspiring because he not only made it through BUD/S, at 26 he graduated as the Honor Man (#1-ranked) of class 170. Perhaps even more striking was that his entire original boat crew graduated with him that day. The odds of that happening by chance are literally one in a million. Mark then served for twenty years (9 active duty and 11 reserves) leading his team on reconnaissance, training and classified missions in 45 different countries throughout Asia and the Middle East. He now shares the same secrets to entrepreneurs, executives and teams through his books, speaking, award winning podcast, and world-renowned leadership and team events. Get ready to have your mind blown with the facts that Mark and I will be discussing about his story, meditation, human experiences, mindfulness, discipline and how to develop an unshakeable mindset. Quick overview on Mark Divine’s story: After college, Mark was a typical guy trying to make a lot of money and make a mark in the world. He got his MBA at Stern School of Business, he was a Certified Public Accountant working toward shifting over to becoming an investment bank or trader or hedge fund guy. Just like others, Mark had an early life crisis. He had that kind of existential experience of “What the eff am I doing in this corporate world in the suit and tie, chasing money when none of that really means anything to me?” And his paradigm was meditation. He was very fortunate. It's incredible for him. When he looks back, he was introduced to Zen meditation at 20 years old, through his martial arts teacher, which was literally the month or two after he went to New York City from Colgate to start his professional career. Because his teacher was so serious about the value of Zen training, to complement the martial arts training and Yin and Yang, his teacher had them meditate for five minutes before and five minutes after every class. And they had a Zen class for 45 minutes on Thursday nights. A small group of them were really dedicated to that. And then they used to go to the Zen Mountain Monastery in Woodstock, New York for long weekends to sit with Zen monks. And Mark felt so good after a few months of wrestling. It just calmed his mind, and he started to feel really good. And so he decided to commit to a daily practice every morning. And it's never wavered since then even while he was in the SEALs. So every morning I would sit, meditate for 20 minutes, I had these profound shifts. Then, as a 20 to 23 year old kid, his brain was still really developing fast. So the fact that he was meditating meant that he was affecting how his brain was developing. The outcome of that was for him to have those really, really cool moments of just great clarity and insight at a young age where he could see that he was on the wrong path. He sees that the stories that he had been kind of fed through my family, the way they dialogue through the culture, through everything were leading him down a common path, but it just wasn't his path. It wasn't who marked what’s meant to be for him. So when he started asking questions to his higher self or spirit, he started to get answers about what he’s supposed to be doing or who he is. And it was leading him in the message that he was a warrior, he was meant to be a warrior, he was meant to serve and lead others, and do some grizzly warrior things. He hadn't even heard of the SEALs at that time. But that insight that he was meant to be a warrior is what led him to stumble across the Navy recruiting office. That's where Mark learned about the SEALs because he saw a poster there with guys doing cool SEAL things on it. And that just cracked right open. He was like, “That's it right there!” That was a synchronicity moment. Mark knew that was it. So in November of 1989. He got his MBA in the mail. Because he had to go extra, he went an extra year to finish it because he was doing night school. He got an MBA certificate, and got his Certified Public Accountant certificate. He earned my first degree black belt. And then he was on a bus to Officer Candidate School in the Navy. And the lesson that he learned was: “Follow your passion and purpose, or else you're gonna be miserable.” What does Mark love most about living on the beach? One of the main practices of being in nature itself is a spiritual practice, because we really just start to resonate and vibrate at the level of the earth, which is the alpha state. Mark gets that experience -- being in the water and having ionization on the water and the grounding eff

Ep 58Lori Gottlieb - How to Improve your Mental Health Right Now
COVID-19 challenged not only the physical strength of those who suffered from it, but also the mental health of many people suffering from depression due to lack of social connections and interactions. Are you one of those who feel so lonely during this pandemic? Do you question yourself why you always feel like something’s wrong with you? Then you must hear what my guest says about these. My guest today is none other than Lori Gottlieb. She is a psychotherapist and a writer. She is the author of the book “Maybe You Should Talk To Someone” and writes the weekly “Dear Therapist” advice column for The Atlantic. A quick overview about how Lori became a therapist: Lori started working in the entertainment business because she loved stories and the human condition. So whether that was through film and labor through television, she really felt like the reason that people watch those shows and the reason that they make people laugh or cry is because the stories are about being human. And then she worked in a real ER, where she spent a lot of time, because they used that to do research. And their consultant on the show, who was an ER physician said, “You know, I think you'd like it better here than you might in your day job.” Being skeptical at first, Lori still ended up going up to Stanford for medical school. And when she got there, managed care was just coming into play. And she realized that she wasn't going to be able to really spend time with her patients in the way that she wanted to. So she started writing, in a way to help people to tell their stories. Then she left medical school to become a journalist. And after working as a journalist, she had a baby. And she felt really disconnected from other adults during the day, because she loved her child. And for sure, new parents can relate to that feeling -- the need to connect with other people who can speak. So she called up the dean at Stanford Medical School, and said she maybe needs to come back and do psychiatry. And the dean said, “You're welcome to come back. But you'd be doing mostly medication management. And you really want those longer term, deeper connections. So why don't you get a graduate degree in clinical psychology, and then you could do the kind of work that you've always talked about doing.” So that's what Lori did. And she feels like she went from telling people stories as a journalist, to helping people to change their stories, as a therapist. Right now, she still does both. She writes books, she has a weekly column, she has a podcast, and she has a clinical practice. And everything she does is all about a story in the human condition. What does isolation do to people's mental health? As humans, we want to be connected to other people. And even in pre COVID times, Lori thinks that there was a sort of epidemic of loneliness happening because she sees it with her patients. A lot of the times what happens is we’re kind of distracted by all of these things that are not nourishing to us. And we don't realize how disconnected we are. People feel anxious, sad, angry, having difficulty in relationships, and having insomnia or addiction. Whatever is happening, people are looking for something else to fill the hole of what really needs to be where connection would go. So during this time, people are really struggling, because they didn't have a lot of practice. And they didn't cultivate those connections. And now, the silver lining to this pandemic is that people are really saying, “Wait a minute, I need to prioritize the connections in my life, and I need to prioritize the connections that matter.” Idiot Compassion vs. Wise Compassion Idiot compassion is what we do with our friends. Our friends will tell us a story, and then we'll say, “Yeah, you were right. They were wrong. That's terrible.” which just reinforces our very narrow view of a particular situation. Wise compassion is what people can get in therapy. We hold up a mirror to someone, and help them to see something about themselves that maybe they haven't been willing or able to do before. Productive Anxiety vs. Unproductive Anxiety Productive Anxiety is when you are reasonably worried about something and it's productive, because it makes you take action to protect yourself. And so we are reasonably worried about getting COVID, so we are wearing masks, we are socially distancing and doing other things that we need to do to take care of our physical immune systems. Unproductive Anxiety is an obsessive rumination. It's like the distraction from doing something productive. You're just ruminating about something and it might not even be about COVID. It might be about that thing that your partner said to you that you can't get over with. You're like, “I can't believe they said that” and you won't let it go. Being Envious Envy is sometimes really useful, because it tells you what you want. When you feel envy, it's because somebody else has something that you want in your life, too. Tune into thi

Ep 57Sarah Anne Stewart - How to Love The Person You See in the Mirror
Have you ever been so insecure about your body, that it made you do something that you regret doing? Did you experience body-shaming and struggled with food anxiety? Then this episode is a MUST LISTEN! My guest today is Sarah Anne Stewart. She is a holistic health practitioner who helps women to discover a fun and diet-free way to a body that they love. A quick overview about Sarah’s story, and how she overcame all the pain she went through, and how she turned this into her passion: Sarah grew up in a really holistic environment one, where she was meditating and doing yoga and learning about wheatgrass and going on vegan diets as a kid. Many years later she ended up in a hospital bed. And every time she looks back on her childhood, she feels so much guilt and shame. She was 15 years old, and at the same time, her dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She was in this weird predicament where she was going to castings. And she started to develop a really bizarre relationship with her body so much. Her agents were saying, “Don't eat until next week. You can't play sports anymore. You really need to lose weight, you have this amazing career ahead of you. But it's going to require you to change your relationship with your body, meaning, you really have to think about slandering down and doing commodities and yoga instead of sports.” During that time, her dad was going through this crazy experience of facing the end of his life and telling the doctors that he was not going to go the western route, and he was only going to use food to heal his body. And at that point, she was very angry with her dad. And he said, “Sarah, you have to trust me.” and he would meditate every day. He was doing yoga, and he was like visualizing, and basically putting affirmations all over our home. And then he went completely vegan. And within seven months, the cancer was completely gone. Once, she ended up in a hospital bed, and that wasn't the first time she was in there. She was in hospital for multiple eating disorders, laxative abuse. And then on top of that, she ended up getting breast implant illness or breast implants because she wanted to extend her career. She thought she would absolutely lose her life and she had to create a career change. And so all she knew was nutrition. At that point, all she knew was that her dad had cancer with food. And so she thought, she can just go and study nutrition, and maybe she can kill herself. The interesting part was when she realized that the more nutrition information she bought, the worse her anxiety and depression got, because she was trusting everyone outside herself. She was looking at all the experts and the different coaches and the different diets and protocols, without trusting herself. And it wasn't until she came across a meditation teacher whose very first question was, “Are you willing to unlearn the way that you were taught to suffer? Are you ready to hear this truth?” and Sarah said she’s willing to do anything. And he took her on this journey of really peeling back the layers of cultural conditioning, or which she had placed on herself, allowing her to finally witness her truth and begin to heal. A lesson from Sarah that people can use to rediscover themselves internally from the adolescent stage, so they don't have to chase after likes and comments and external validation: Self love, self worth, self esteem are so important. Self love exists within us always, it's not like the stock market where it goes up and down, it is always there. The answer to the solution exists between thought. It exists outside of mind, it exists within our heart, it exists by connecting to higher consciousness, and higher awareness. And that is often where the answer of what we should be doing, how we should be doing it, how we should be taking care of ourselves and our lives, and only through the disconnection from the identity, the memory and the intellect, are we able to truly cultivate our own answers. And that has been Sarah’s greatest lesson. There are three parts of the mind: Identity Memory Intellect Tune into this episode to learn about these three parts and how they impact our lives. Know more about Sarah’s journey in this episode, and I am sure that you will get truly inspired by her as she tells all of the life lessons from her own experiences that a lot of people, especially women can relate with. Ep 56Darin Olien - How to Embrace Your Struggles and Live a Superlife (And Creating Down to Earth)
You have probably heard about the web documentary show, Down To Earth with Zac Efron and Darin Olien on Netflix. In this episode, not only you will learn the backstory of the show, but you will also gain a lot of good knowledge from Darin Olien and how he turned all of the unfortunate events he experienced into something great. He is one of Down To Earth’s executive producers, the original formulator of Shakeology and co-creator of the comprehensive plant-based Ultimate Reset 21-day detoxification program, is often called “the Indiana Jones of superfoods.” Why did Darin choose to dive deep into health? Darin was starting fullback in his sophomore year and he beat out guys 50 pounds heavier than him. In the first first game, he crunched my lower back, you're a bunch of ligaments. That was an abrupt stop to his dream. The physical therapists that I was going to and the x rays and everything that he was jumping through to try to get back on the field wasn't working. There was a lot of complexity, as it turns out he couldn't get back on the field. He then quit that school, and went to the University of St. Thomas and St. Paul, Minnesota. And I started studying physiology, kinesiology, and nutrition, and whatnot. That's when all of these things kind of started making sense for him because number one, he wanted to figure this out for himself, because there's no way that this is going to stop him. So being able to understand a bit of physiology and movement and patterns, started to reverse engineer his injury. What got Darin into the superfood industry? Darin saw flaws. He saw beautiful marketing, and then crappy ingredients. He was like, “Is anyone seeing this?” He was always starting to play with formulation. The full circle kind of moment was when his father passed away, and he received 20 grand which is a lot of money 16 years ago. And for him, that money has something a little different because it came directly from his father -- his legacy. That’s when he started. He set up his LLC, traveled more, created formulas, and started the process of manufacturing his own formulas. He did all of that using the money he got from his father. In the 11th hour of burning through all his cash and realizing how much money it costs them to create a startup, that's when Beachbody approached Darin. Beachbody told Darin to keep doing his thing. So he’s going to formulate which he was doing anyway, and Beachbody will be paying him. What are the five forces in Darin’s best-selling book, SuperLife? These are: Nutrition Hydration Oxygenation Alkalization Detoxification Tune in to this episode so you will learn what those five forces mean and what the importance of each is. What was the inspiration for Down to Earth? As he traveled, he got to see the cultures and the environmental impacts and certain things like water, food, and shelter around the world that many people have never seen and experienced. The environment became a massive pillar in his own life. Water became big for him as he was a big advocate and on the board of rain catcher.org and bringing water to those cultures and showing how to create clean water. He met people along the way that were doing some incredible things from green technologies, to permaculture, and land design that was efficient, but also had yields without striking the ground and the earth and the soil. So as Darin started sketching out an idea for a show. That was Yes, a little bit of superfood hunting, but yes, a little food systems pollution, solution-based diversity of a lot of good people doing a lot of good things around the world. He wanted to show the goodness that people have and also that people can do something about some of those things. For Darin, it was not just doing a TV show, for a TV show sake. He needs to do it to move in a way that conveys a message. His mission is to help people stay healthy and help the planet stay healthy, and just make this place better. According to him, we did a lot of things with great intent. But we got a lot of things wrong as a society. So we need to correct those things. And he really believes that by collaborating with the right people, getting the message out, we can correct those things. And we all can shift from monocropping and stripping our soils to regenerative agriculture that can increase our yields, regenerate our souls, sequester carbon, receive more rainwater, and help their regenerate, reforest, and reinvigorate the ecology. So that we all benefit from it not only our communities, but also as a global society. Know the interesting story about how Zac Efron and Darin met, and how the show started by tuning in to this episode. And get ready to learn so much, absorb a lot of information, and be inspired by how Darin turned the unfortunate things to great ones! Ep 55Trent Shelton - How to Transform Your Pain into Purpose
Your pain can either become your PRISON or your PURPOSE!!! Are you one of those people who believe that all the pain you have experienced and been experiencing are just plain punishments? Then you must tune in to this episode to change that belief into its exact opposite. My guest today is one of the most inspirational and motivational people on the planet. He is a former American football wide receiver, speaker, author and his content reaches more than 60 million people weekly across his social media platforms. I am incredibly honored to have Trent Shelton, founder of RehabTime on the show today. He will make you realize that all the problems and pains were given to us by God for a reason. A bit about Trent’s story: Trent’s everything was sports. Since he was four or five years old, he played baseball, basketball, and football track. And all the way up to high school, he still played basketball, football and baseball. That was his identity. He was blessed to be an outstanding athlete in Texas, went to Baylor University on a full scholarship, and his career at Baylor went great. He had a chance to get drafted, and that was the picture that he’s always painted. Draft day came. He was waiting for his name to be called, but he never heard it. And that's the first moment in his life where he felt like he wasn't in control, and he wasn't enough. That lasted for just a short while because he got a call. It's like a big war how the teams are calling him — the Cowboys, the Colts, and other teams. His uncle advised him and said, “Hey, go with the Colts. Don't go with the team that offers you the most money. Go to a place where they have nothing to give you but a fair shake.” So he signed an undrafted free agent deal, which was a very small signing bonus. Probably a few thousand dollars, and he had to work his way up. But in the same year, Trent ended up having the greatest preseason with the NFL. They brought him in, and they said, “Hey, you know we want to develop you. We have a lot of receivers — Marvin and Reggie. All these guys want to develop you and there's gonna be a good chance in the season. Somebody's gonna get hurt, you're going to be ready.” He went ahead and bought his car, got his apartment, and all those things. But within just three weeks, Trent got a call. It's what they call a “Terrible Tuesday”. They released him. He went back home and tried to suppress everything, and the suppression turned into depression. And two weeks later, Trent got called back. His career was very unstable. 2008 was his breaking point, and he just didn't care anymore. He didn't even want to live anymore. The only thing that kept him going during that time was his three-month-old son, Tristan. He knew that he had to keep living because his son needs his father in his life. Faith, family, and fitness: What do these three words mean to Trent? Faith It is the rock. It is everything, whether it's a spiritual relationship with faith or just the word in general. We are human beings, we operate off of faith. We have to strengthen it to be able to see the unseen, to be able to believe that there's something that’s going to happen for our lives as we like to put it, and believe that there's a door that's going to open from my life that didn't exist yet. Family It is his accountability. It is who he does everything for, especially his immediate family. Fitness It's been a part of his life since he was five years old — obviously with sports. But now, even just moving his body, he would say movement influences mood. It is his release from stress, and it builds on his mental toughness. What is Trent’s biggest joy in life? His biggest joy is being able to coach his son's football team. He would rather do that than go speak on the stage in front of 5000 people. Because he knows that the seeds that he is planting in his family's life will not just affect this generation, but also future generations. “I don't want to be successful to the world and unsuccessful to my family. It doesn't matter if people say, ‘I love Trent Shelton.’ but my kids are like, ‘I don't love my father.’ or ‘My father is not here.’” - Trent Shelton What pieces of advice can Trent give to anybody who’s struggling to decide whether to let someone go or not? Just because they're a good person doesn't mean they're good for you. Always try to ask yourself, “Where is this bridge leading to? Is this bridge leading me to a greater version of myself? Or is it leading you to a lesser version of myself?” And if your answer is a lesser version of yourself, you have to burn that bridge. For Trent, what is the reason why people like to run from their pain and their problems? Trent knows that running away from pain and problems is one of the three parts of the rehab process, which is the reality. Reality is hard to face. People want to stay blind to what they actually see, and they don't want to go through that emotional pain, that emotional journey, so they are going to just sweep i

Ep 54Lindsey Schwartz - Steps on Finding Friends that Align with You
COMMUNITY IS THE GATEWAY TO TRANSFORMATION! Are you afraid to step up and take a leap of faith? Do you feel scared every time you think of all the things you wanted to have and achieve as an entrepreneur? Then this episode is for you! My guest today is Lindsey Schwartz, an Arizona-based, Wisconsin-born entrepreneur and big dreamer. At age 26, Lindsey started her first business part-time and over the next several years became an accomplished fitness athlete, full-time entrepreneur, speaker, and best-selling author of Powerhouse Woman: How to get out of your own way, fulfill your unique purpose, and live a powerful life. Lindsey’s journey and how she became who she is today. Lindsey is a big believer that it's not by accident, and obviously it's taken a lot of hard work. But every time that she thought she was at a stopping point or something that she wanted to happen, and the expectation that she had wasn't turning out the way she wanted, every single time, she just surrendered and trusted that maybe there was a different plan that she just couldn't see. And that led her to what she’s doing now, which she absolutely loves. She grew up in the Midwest, took a job, and she was recruited by a few companies and ended up selling carpet. She literally sold commercial flooring. That's why she moved out to Arizona. She was 23 or 24 when she finished school and all that she heard from that company was, “We will move you somewhere that doesn't snow, and we'll give you a car and a cell phone. And when you're that age, and you grew up in the Midwest with the idea of job security, you get a good job, you work hard, and then you retire. That's the dream life.” Because of that, she was like, “Oh, don't worry about me, Mom, I have made it like, Here I go, I'm gonna start my life in Arizona.” And it just so happens that by the time she got trained and fully into her position, she was in commercial construction. So there she was in an industry that was extremely hard hit and the slowest to recover. And it was the first time in her life where she considered maybe this idea that was true for her parents and grandparents' generation, wasn't really true for her because she didn't feel a whole lot of job security every single day. She watched people her age get laid off. And it was the first time she ever considered that maybe she needed a plan B. And so that was what ultimately brought her to network marketing and found out that she loved helping people be healthy more than she loved selling commercial flooring to a hospital. There was a big difference in both careers she had. There was one time when a customer cussed her because of the flooring order, even if it’s not her fault. And then in her inbox was an email from the woman who had been their wedding photographer, pouring out her gratitude that Lindsey had changed the woman’s life by helping her get her nutrition under control. She then realized that she needs to get out of the job she used to have. She eventually went full time into entrepreneurship. But what happened while she was working in this network marketing career was really what set up what ultimately became “Powerhouse Women.” What does entrepreneurship actually feel like? Everytime Lindsey talks to people, they would always say how Lindsey inspires them. They would end up sharing that they have always thought of starting their own businesses, or maybe even a specific idea that they felt really strongly about, and every time Lindsey would hear it, she would think that those things that people are talking about really need to exist. But in the very next breath, without any like pause in between, they would share why they weren't ready, or they didn't know enough, or they didn't feel like they were good enough. They were afraid — and that is exactly what entrepreneurship feels like. Those feelings that people are using to prove to themselves why they shouldn't go after that, are actually the reasons why they should. It's pointing them in the right direction. What would Lindsey tell somebody who is feeling scared and insecure to be part of a community like the Powerhouse Women? Lindsey can feel that too — she gets intimidated walking into a room of beautiful women, she gets intimidated while walking into a mastermind where everyone's business is twice the revenue of hers, but that's also where she grows. But if someone is going after a big idea, building a business, pursuing a passion project, and they don't feel right now like they have that support, it's up to them to go find it. And the way they find it is by walking into rooms where they feel totally out of their league and a little intimidated until they find the room that yet might still feel a little bit scary, but eventually, they will think that they could fit in there. Ep 53Michael Chernow - Fitness is the Key Ingredient to Fight Addiction
FITNESS IS THE KEY INGREDIENT TO FIGHT ADDICTION! Struggling to be happy in recovery? Are you sick of trying everything to escape addiction only to realize it's not sustainable? Then you will need to listen to this episode with Celebrity Chef and Fitness Personality, Michael Chernow! “The business of business is relationships, and the foundation of relationships is trust, because I believe that. I say that in business, but it's also just in general. The business of happiness is relationships and the foundation of relationships is trust.”- Michael Chernow With that quote alone, you can already say that there are lots of things you can learn from my guest today. He is Michael Chernow -- a chef, entrepreneur. He is the founder of Seamore, co-founder of The Meatball Shop, and co-founder of WellWell. He's quite literally the modern-day renaissance man. But what I love most about him is he's really into fitness, and fitness helped to save his life from the depths of addiction, and which we will definitely get into. How is Michael’s life adjusted since this whole COVID thing hit? Instead of upgrading their apartment when they had their second child, they bought a place out of the city which is their best decision because they are staying there for two and a half months now. Their boys are enjoying their life out of the city. Unfortunately, his grandfather, 98, contracted the virus on Friday of last week in his nursing home. He has lived a very fruitful life. It's a shame that this is potentially what could be the end for him, and Michael’s family sort of really bummed out about that. However, Michael is a positive optimist, he always finds the silver lining in everything and he also tries to make lemonade whenever he sees lemons and at this time, he’s actually out there just trying to make some lemonade. Michael is greatly inspired by his grandfather because he absolutely lived a wonderful life -- born in 1919, survived the 20s Great Depression, fought World War 2, created businesses, and failed at some businesses. His grandfather is now 98 years old, and his number one priority was great relationships with people and he had an amazing network of friends. For Michael, we all need to reset and pump the brakes. He has done a lot in the last 10 years and he admits that it hasn’t been the healthiest. He is just extreme in anything he does. He was an “addict.” When it comes to business and work, he’s been into the grindstone non-stop for the last 11 years and this time has forced him to slow down, to not beat himself up, for not producing an enormous amount of shit every day, and to slow down to hold his son for more than two minutes. For Michael, what is life all about? It's ultimately about love. That human beings were put on the planet to love and be loved at the end of the day. In his own experience, he drank and did drugs because he wanted to be loved, and learn how to love himself and, and in his own perspective, everything that we do at the core of motivation or lack of motivation is the desire to love and be loved. How did Michael get out of doing drugs and drinking? He fell in love with escapism. At an early age, he fell in love with it. He started working in restaurants at 13. He worked in the night and he was perfect for it. There were a bunch of years where it was just super fun for him. But suddenly, all of the fun stopped and he started drinking and partying. His dad passed away when he was 20. Michael was not on good terms with his father, and he always used that as a grand excuse to just take it even further. From 20 to 23, he was on a death march, but he still always had a job and always kept his job in a restaurant or nightclub. The last few years were pretty dark for him. He stopped enjoying it, and it became just like part of his routine. There were moments like he just wanted to die. He couldn't believe that he found myself back there again, after promising not to do it again. He clearly remembers catching a glimpse of himself in the mirror saying, “Man, I hate you more than anything on the planet.” He wanted to die, and luckily, he didn't kill himself. He woke up 16 hours later and he had locked himself in his room and people thought he had actually died. His boss, Frank, said, “I love you to death, man. I do. I love you to death but I can’t watch you kill yourself. You’re fired.” Michael really loves his job so he begged for it and his boss said, “I can't give you your job [bar managing] anymore. I just can't put you behind the bar. But if you get sober, if you actually get sober, and you come to work at eight o'clock in the morning, and you clean the restaurant with the porters for 30 days, I'll consider giving you your job back.” So Michael did all of it. He walked into a room of people that took him in like a brother, and they understood each other. Then a couple of guys from that group knew that he had like a little bit of a aggressive sort of anger components, and they dragged him into a Mua

Ep 52Dr. John Delony - The Secret Solution to Managing Anxiety, Fear and Trauma
SO MANY PEOPLE ARE STRUGGLING WITH THEIR MENTAL HEALTH! Do you ever question yourself as to why the things you have experienced in the past happened to you, and what you could've done to prevent them from happening? Have you always wanted to meet someone who can pat you on the back and tell you the exact things you need to do to become a better version of yourself? My guest today is Dr. John Delony. He is a leading voice on relationships and emotional wellness. The newest Ramsey personality. He worked for two decades in crisis response and as a senior leader at multiple universities, and he holds two PhDs -- one in counseling and the other in higher education. Just like normal people, he also has been through the dark days of his life, overcame all of them, and now helping other people to do the same. What's John’s journey behind being the newest Ramsey personality? He lived in Texas every day in his life working at colleges and universities. He was a high school teacher, and then he took a job at a university in Nashville. And Dave has his senior leadership team. John gave a talk to a group of parents and students and Dave’s executive vice president was in the audience dropping their daughter off at the school, and they knew they were looking for additional people. And she just said, “That's the guy.” pointing to John. What does Dr. John think about fear? When it comes to fear, the one thing that served John well is understanding that every brain cell in the body has one job and that's to get to tomorrow. So we need to always be remembering that the fear scans the fear monitor that's going on everywhere. And if we don't actively seek to get other inputs, or put that in its rightful place, then it can take over everything. They won't kill us. It will just lead to chronic stress and isolation, and loneliness. How can loneliness affect a person? It will kill you. Dr. John stated some facts from American Medical Association about how loneliness can kill a person. What does Dr. John say about the kids/teenagers who had trauma when they were young? Five year old kids should do nothing, but be five. Kids have no ability to regulate themselves. They do it against other people. That's when they grew up in stressful chaos. ADHD is not a disease. It's not a brain malfunction. That is your brain doing what it needs to do to protect itself at the moment. And then there goes the anxiety, which is just the alarm system. An example of this is a house that's on fire and we spend so much energy trying to turn the alarm off and not addressing the fact that the house is on fire. What kind of steps should a person take to make sure they're coming out as a better version of themselves? Make a counseling appointment. A statement to yourself in the mirror, “I want to get better and I will get better.” You got to look in the mirror and say, “I'm a person of value, I'm worth getting better.” Connection -- true, vulnerable relationships with God, with your community, with yourself. Tune in to this episode. I am sure you’ll learn a lot from this awesome guy. He will give answers to some of the questions you didn’t know you wanted to know about. Ep 50Jennifer Hurvitz - The Unexpected Pain of Divorce (And How to Avoid it)
BEFORE YOU GET DIVORCED, LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE! Do you feel like your relationship with your partner is falling apart? Or you’re just someone who is afraid of having a failed marriage? My guest today, Jennifer Hurvitz, has a lot to say about that topic. She is the host of the highly acclaimed Doing Divorce Right (or Avoiding It Altogether) Podcast. She's a best selling author of two books: One Happy Divorce: Hold the Bulls#!t, and Woulda. Coulda. Shoulda.: A divorce coach's guide to staying married. She has been featured on Oprah, and Oprah touts her as an expert, recommended her books, and said it's the number five best relation book to read with your partner for a happy marriage. All the things that we will be talking about in this episode are all based on her own experience as a divorced person and as a divorce coach. How did Jennifer handle the divorce when she was going through it? Jennifer wrote her first book called, “One Happy Divorce: Hold the Bulls#!t” quickly after her divorce when she was separated. She wrote it more for herself, just for her readers to tell them, “Look, this is what divorce really, really looks like through the eyes of a divorced person.” For her, the big problem with divorces is that no one really knows what it feels like until someone goes through it. It's a lot like death. It is like a death, only the person is actually alive and you have to see them everyday, and you maybe have to co-parent with them for the rest of your life. You actually go through the stages of death, grieving, anger, and all those things, but you have to be with this person and get along with them. You’re just literally grieving the life that you thought you were going to have. Her second book called, “Woulda. Coulda. Shoulda.: A divorce coach's guide to staying married” was written basically for everybody else. She wrote that book for everybody who needs to see what divorce looks like through the lens of a divorced person and a divorce coach. For her, if she would have known then what she knows now, then she may not have gotten divorced. Because it really sucks and the divorce grass ain't greener. Divorce absolutely sucks for everybody involved. Everybody, especially for the kids. Did Jennifer regret getting a divorce? No, she didn’t. Her divorce with her ex-husband went very well. Both of them decided to do things right and put their children first because they are their top priority. After the divorce, they became best friends. They may not be the best partner for each other, but they can say it without hesitation that they are the best parents to their kids. What was the biggest mistake Jennifer ever made? Dating too soon. She thought she’s ready and she knew everything. Little did she know, her mind wasn’t. Jennifer’s pieces of advice for the people who do not want to end up getting a divorce: Find out who you are as an individual. You have to take accountability for what you did in your past relationships. You can't always place the blame on someone else. You have to own your s#it, so that you can move forward and be a better human. There's a reason why he/she cheated. For the women, if you don't f*ck your husband, somebody else will. Connect every week, same time, same day. Just like a business meeting, talk about your marriage and really figure out what's good and what's not. Don't look for the right partner. Try to be the right partner, then if you're the right partner for someone, that's how it works. Just let go of the small stuff. Make sure to tune in to this episode, and I am sure that you will learn a lot from Jennifer -- a woman who has gone through hell and was able to get back on track, and is now trying to help other people who are dealing with the same circumstances she’s gone through. Ep 49Mike Lee - Why Everyone Should Embrace a Fighter's Mindset (And How to Do it)
Mike Lee: Why Everyone Should Embrace a Fighter's Mindset Have you ever experienced pain that got to a point where you just want to quit? My guest, Mike Lee will make you realize that it’s okay to deal with pain and still move forward to reach your goals and continue your fight. He is a well-known professional boxer and was young and undefeated on top of the world at the age of 26. Last year he fought for the world title against Caleb Plant. Although, he got knocked out in the third round and ended up having his first loss, he knew that it just wasn't his night. It wasn't his fight because even in the whole training camp, he was in so much pain. Despite all the negative comments he received from a lot of people on social media, he just shrugged it off and moved forward. He is never afraid to fail, because even if he does, at least he can go to bed at night knowing that he went for it. Yes, he lost, but that made him a better human. What many don’t know is that in the prime of his career, he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, spent 2 years in and out of hospital, and got addicted to painkillers especially to Tramadol. He was taking it every single day. For him, during those hard times, that’s the only thing that kept him going. Unfortunately, those pills made him suffer from a lot of side effects -- anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. He knew that he only got 2 choices in his life. It’s either he will continue taking those pills or change it. That’s when he dove into health and fitness, and CBD is something he discovered as part of that. CBD helped Mike to get back in the ring, and fought eight or nine more fights. He won eight in a row and got to number three in the world. He co-founded My Soul CBD together with his sister, Angie Lee. CBD helped Mike overcome his anxiety and depression and he is the proof that their products really work. He’s taking it for years already and never tested positive for THC or any other contaminants. CBD has a lot of good effects in the human body. He believed that what God put on this earth is what's going to heal us from chronic pain. If you want to know more about CBD and overcoming pain, anxiety, and depression, then you will want to make sure to tune into this episode with Mike Lee. I’m certain that everyone will learn a lot from this guy. Take this lesson from him: “At the end of the day, you can’t control the cards you were dealt, no matter what situation that is. The only thing you can control is how you play them.” For people who are listening, if you share this episode and screenshot the episode, tag Mike, tag My Soul CBD and tag me with your top takeaway, I'm going to be giving away some CBD to the person who presents the biggest takeaway. Check down below where you can connect with Mike and My Soul CBD. Mike Lee bio: For the last decade, Mike has fought in front of millions in the biggest arenas in the world, from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to Madison Square Garden in New York City. However, his journey as a boxer has had a lot of ups and downs. In the prime of his career he spent almost two years in and out of hospitals battling what he found out was an autoimmune disease that almost ended his career. Fed up with countless hospital visits and years on prescription medication, Mike immersed himself in the wellness world, learning everything he could about nutrition, mindset and most importantly, CBD. With the help of the latter, Mike defied every doctor’s prognosis, and went on to win eight more fights, becoming the #3 ranked fighter in the World and eventually fighting for a World Title last July. Today, Mike is the CEO and co-founder of Soul CBD, a 7-figure CBD wellness brand, with his sister Angie Lee. With his company, Mike continues to deliver on his mission by helping thousands of people find natural relief from pain, anxiety, and more. Ep 47Stefanos Sifandos - Confronting the Inner Child (and How to Heal it)
*SUMMARY* In this episode, I engage in an explosive chat with Relationship Expert Stefanos Sifandos who helps us understand the importance of doing the inner work on ourselves as evolving humans. In very simple practical steps, the “Relationship Alchemist” teaches us how to deal with the inner child which keeps most adults stuck in unhealthy cycles and patterns. It’s time to break free. Enjoy the listen! *SHOW NOTES* There’s a child inside every one of us which needs to be understood and worked upon for wholesome adult life. My Guest on this Episode is Stefanos Sifandos who is well-grounded in Psychology and social behavioral science. As a coach helping others navigate through life, he was faced with his most challenging client- himself. Having gone through cycles of pain in his relationships, disconnect, disharmony, constant self-isolation, anger, an unresolved trauma from childhood, complete neglect for self, and depression, he takes us through his journey and process to wholeness. In this insightful episode, we discuss the importance of doing the inner work on ourselves and rewriting our harmful patterns as evolving humans so that we can live a whole and truly fulfilling life without keeping up appearances. We delve into the issue of letting go of past trauma and abuse where Stefanos advises us to learn to Feel and not suppress emotions, Forgive the past, and break free. (Shall we call them the 3 F’s?) While addressing the issue of societal expectation wherein men are expected to suppress their emotions, he also touches on how he’s helping other men work through unresolved trauma from childhood teaching them to put their ego aside in order to fix their insecurities. Giving us very practical information, Stefanos analyses the inner child, it’s variants, and how we can address childhood issues which can manifest as different unpleasant emotions in adulthood. Very profoundly, he explains how we seek in adulthood things we didn’t experience from our primary caregivers as children, the struggle to self-regulate as adults and how it affects our relationships with others. A really outstanding point which Stefanos makes is the fact that we need to get a grasp of self-awareness and not feel ashamed to get therapy, join a group, or read self-help books as long as it helps or speaks to our struggles. He also hints on understanding our attachment styles and how we receive and give love. We stir the dark waters of porn addiction as a quick fix for insecurities and a numbing of pain that people don’t want to deal with. One thing we definitely both agree upon is the fact that individuals need to do the hard work of dealing with their unresolved issues so as to make better choices in life Interestingly, Stefanos will be hosting an INNER CHILD WORKSHOP at the end of this month as well as a retreat from 24-28th September 2020 in Austin, Texas. Ep 45Courtney Friel - Surviving Addiction and a Pandemic as a News Anchor
Courtney Friel: Surviving Addiction and a Pandemic as a News Anchor Courtney Friel is news anchor, best selling author and sobriety warrior who's been in recovery for more than 10 years. I first met Courtney when I was interviewing different individuals for my book The Heart of Recovery. Courtney’s recovery journey. It was a 15 year party lifestyle for Courtney when she was working as a news anchor and reporter. Courtney had a work hard play hard identity. The parties she attended were characterised by alcohol, cocaine and pills. It was through an intervention of her husband (now ex) and other friends that she accepted getting into rehab. But before the intervention, Courtney, having already witnessed so many celebrities die from drug abuse, had already contemplated the thought of sobering up, but lacked the strength to do so. It was during the aftermath of a party she had attended in Florida where she had passed out half naked on the floor that she finally got the strength and support she needed to attend rehab. Courtney decided she deserved more than who she had become, and still had so much to give to the world. With one last drink, she said goodbye to the party life and hasn’t looked back ever since. Staying sober. The one thing that has helped Courtney in her 10 year sobriety journey is that she has a lot to draw from in life. Through meditating, journaling, yoga, church, parenting, social programs and self-help books, Courtney has enough to keep herself busy and occupied. One thing that got drilled into her belief system at the rehab program is that alcohol or substance abuse doesn’t help solve any situation. You’re only going to wake up to the same problem, only this time, feeling worse than before. The best way to fight life’s adversities is to find and practice new tools to manage the stress and anxiety. In time, these tools shape your habits and build your character. Managing job related stress. Working as a news anchor and field reporter can be very draining. For Courtney, she’s had to find ways to connect to herself and press refresh when she’s overwhelmed by sad and depressing news stories. She’s already had newsmayers and emotional hangovers related to the sad stories that she has to report. Stories that have only grown by the numbers during the current pandemic. But through her different sobriety tactics, Courtney has learnt to live in the present moment and practice gratitude for all that she’s been blessed with. Having interviewed so many people for both my book and podcast, there’s one common theme surrounding people that have gotten and stayed recovered. The theme surrounds fitness, spirituality, healthy relationships and self-awareness. Ep 44Anthony ONeal - Why You Should Go to College Debt Free (And How To Do It)
Creating Generational Wealth through Financial Education Anthony ONeal is a bestselling author, speaker and financial expert who is passionate about helping people make better decisions in regards to their money and higher education in order to live a healthy and prosperous life. Anthony is also passionate about fitness, a hobby that he owes a lot of his mental strength to. Fitness has taught him the power of his mind in creating and establishing new habits. Once it’s done in the mind, the body can automatically do what’s required. Making bad choices. Growing up, Anthony only had two major conversations with his parents. How to respect the law of the land, and the religious law. His parents never gave him any serious talks or lectures about how to handle his finances. Inevitably, Anthony dived right into taking personal and student loan debts to finance a life that he couldn’t afford or need. And this would eventually cost him his college experience. His father told him that as a man, he had to live with the consequences of his choices, and wasn’t allowed to go back home. This would be the start to a 6 month adversity experience where Anthony slept in the back of his car and on the floor of his friends’ houses. Things changed when he decided to give his future some serious thought. He realised that the calibre of his future would be determined by the choices he was going to make in the present moment. He stopped pointing fingers at the people that he blamed for his misfortunes and decided to take action. Anthony made a decision to change his life completely, and travel around the world to teach young people how to avoid similar financial mistakes to his. Student crisis. $100,000 - $200,000 is the average of student loans that a lot of young adults graduate with in America. A lot of these students believe they can pay off the debt within 3 years after graduation, but studies show that 65% of them are still paying the debts off 12 years later. It’s for this reason that Anthony advocates for being wise when you pick the path to higher education. What matters isn’t where you study, but the kind of person that you are after graduating. Community colleges, Military schools and Trade schools aren’t as fancied as top colleges like Havard, but they’re still a very great way to educate yourself. Life education has different sources, ranging from online courses, working experience, and free scholarships. What’s of importance when deciding your future is examining the best route that you can take according to your personality, and use it to grow and earn profits. Financial Education. Racial wealth gap based on a recent study shows that for every $100 that a white caucasian owns, the average African American has $5.48 . Although there’s a lot of factors contributing to this, Anthony pinpoints mindset to why other races lag behind others. Ep 43Sal Di Stefano - Building a Business Based on Integrity and Teamwork
Building a Business Based on Integrity and Teamwork Sal Di Stefano is one of the three podcast hosts of the highly acclaimed Mind Pump Podcast. They sell workout programs to their clients through the Mind Pump Media brand. Sal’s bio As he was getting into high school, Sal had a frail, slim body which sprouted a lot of insecurities in him. Always solution oriented, Sal had a growth mindset that pushed him into working out as a way to change his physique. Exercise has ever since been the gateway and foundation to Sal’s personal growth journey. With exercise, the results are always black and white. If you put in the work on a consistent basis, then you’ll see the results for yourself. Having grown up as a child of 2 Sicilian immigrants, Sal through his parents learnt what it means to be hardworking and honest. He grew up responsible and passionate about helping people because he always took care of his three younger siblings. Fitness training. When he started out, Sal was mostly focused on how he can best build his business and make profit. This made him push his clients to work with him more if they needed results. After digging in deep and finding the reason why he got into fitness training, Sal changed his business model. He decided that it was more honest if he helped people become a better version of themselves with or without his help. He then pivoted to training his clients into adapting a fitness lifestyle that helped them make a habit out of exercise. For Sal, it's important to train and coach your clients with the truth. Effective training methods that help your clients in the long term are better than intense exercise models that only help them in the short term. Mind Pump Sal While working as a fitness trainer, Doug (who is now a producer of the Mind Pump Podcast) was recommended to him by a chiropractor because of a back problem. As an effective communicator, Sal was able to convince Doug into a healthy training model in contrast to Doug’s suggestions (Suggestions Doug had picked up from tabloid training media platforms) 6 months into the training and Doug’s back was not only healed, but Doug was also lifting twice his weight at the gym. Doug loved Sal’s effective communication skills that he suggested online selling for his gym products. Sal, motivated by a New England Journal of Medicine article he had recently read, was able to draft Maps Anabolic - a work out program that he intended to sell online. Before launching the program, Sal reached out to Adam (A first rising fitness trainer whose reputation had crossed Sal more than a couple of times). Adam was more than impressed by the new Maps Anabolic program, and was interested to be a part of it. The trio (Sal, Adam and Doug) then met at Adam’s house and planned to launch a podcast as a way to build an audience and establish authority. Mind Pump Podcast was a total success. They produced 5 episodes a week for a full year and built so much value and authority that Maps Anabolic’s launch needed very little marketing. Teamwork. The trio are great innovators and always coming up with new ideas every time they’re together. This has proven to be a challenge as they have to be able to say no to some great ideas in order to focus and grow on one idea at a time. The creativity and innovation of the trio is coupled with a lot of debate and arguments. But the one thing that always holds them together and makes them stronger is support for each other. They back whichever idea has been opted by the majority and support it till the end. Even if the idea ends up failing, they encourage each other and move forward together as a team. This chemistry has been the backbone of their friendship, business and podcast. DM Sal on instagram to get a promo code and pay half for any of his workout programs. Ep 41Bizzie Gold - How to Break Free From Your Past For Good
How to Break Free From Your Past For Good Joining me on the show today is Bizzie Gold. Labeled the millennial voice of personal development, Bizzie’s efforts are towards changing our cultural view on mental health and helping people rewire their thinking to become the best version of themselves. Bizzie has featured on major mainstream media platforms to discuss her unique and sustainable approach to mental health. She’s been praised globally for the swift breakthroughs she helps her clients achieve during their healing journey. Bizzie’s life journey. How you handle adversity, according to Bizzie, comes down to how you were raised by your parents. Bizzie’s parents were ever positive and taught her to never be afraid of expressing herself and what she thought. They raised her to be a self-reflective and a confident go-getter in life. For this reason, Bizzie has always believed in her skills and what she is capable of accomplishing. In fact this mindset has been the key to her success. Every time she’s faced with a problem, Bizzie is at her mental best and drafts the best ideas and solutions to what she’s going through. She has learned and mastered the art of staying calm and thinking clear when she’s in the eye of a storm. She yearns for obstacles, as they help her dig deep and find the best version of herself. Buti Yoga. With approximately 6,000 instructors in 35 countries, Buti yoga is a global brand that Bizzie uses to spread her mental, physical and spiritual healing techniques. Buti Yoga, comes from an Indian Rothi word which means something that’s hidden away or kept secret. In our consumer driven society, a lot of people are obsessed with finding some kind of trick, cure or gadgets to improve the quality of their lives. However, the simple truth is that tapping in and resolving what’s inside us is the key to a better and sustainable lifestyle. Only deep self discovery can ignite the flame of bringing permanent change and habits in your daily life. In Buti Yoga, Bizzie teaches people how to take a full grasp of what’s happening in their bodies as they’re progressing and use it to fuel their healing journey. Breaking the victim mentality. A lot of therapy models have sprouted up over the years. Bizzie’s model works on the basis of tapping into the subconscious traumatic patterns and starting the healing process from there. Bizzie helps her patients learn how to catch their intrusive thoughts when they occur and restructure them in order to build a final layer to completely change who they are, all while still being their authentic selves. A lot of our subconscious brain patterns are anchored between the age of 2-5 years. That’s the reason why so many people are stuck in a loop of blaming their personality as the reason why they act or react in a certain way. ‘I’m an angry person, it’s just the way I am’ Such people respond on autopilot rather instead of responding to a situation based on their current environment and stimuli. In her break therapy method, Bizzie helps her clients take a deep dive into their personality and find the actions that trigger the subconscious pattern of judging the current situation through the lens of the past. Structured container Part of Bizzie’s healing therapy module is creating a highly structured environment with different tools that force her patients to get triggered and react. Bizzie then measures how you respond to the different triggers . Once the reactions are measured. Bizzie teaches her patients how to map out and understand themselves better through the emotional trigger and reaction that occurred. What makes this method so effective is that all the different tools used in the structured environment make sure that you’re honest not just with the facilitator, but your inner self too. And no matter what, the end result is always the same. You come out knowing everything about yourself, including the truth that you’re not comfortable to address. Owning up and taking full responsibility is also part of the healing process. Because a lot of people are comfortably addicted to the victim mentality and only point fingers to explain who did them wrong. By learning to break your emotional response under different environments, you can learn how to shift your perspectives and reflect on the facts before reacting to a trigger. Bizzie, through the Eli Model teaches her patients how to interrupt their emotional response system with logic. This stops the flow of neuro-transmitters. Once this happens her patients can then tap into their logic and intuition in order to make a decision based on their current environment. A lot of people try to run away or avoid their triggers. The truth is, you can never grow or learn to rewire your responses by hiding from your triggers. The only solution to this is creating a solid plan and structure where you can rapidly trigger and repattern yourself. Ep 40Connor Beaton - Winning Your Battles Through Facing Your Shadow
Connor Beaton: Winning your battles through facing your shadow I’m pleased to host Connor Beaton as today’s special guest on the show. Connor is a male relationship and mindset coach. Alongside his wife, Vienna Pharoan, Connor has been making a positive impact in the lives of many couples throughout the world. The current pandemic that we’ve found ourselves in as a result of covid 19 has undoubtedly caused havoc in many relationships. Relationships not just with our partners, but ourselves too. Connor helps us unravel why so many individuals are having a hard time right now and how we can use the power of self-awareness and conflict management to live a better life with ourselves, and other people. Facing your shadow. Our mind consists of three parts. The conscious, subconscious, and unconscious mind. Also referred to as the Hurt Locker, The Shadow is the part of our mind where we lock up all the past events of our lives that we don’t like. The shadow is part of the unconscious mind, and it’s where we store our insecurities and things that we tend to avoid or hide from the world. What’s interesting about the Shadow, is that it’s not only the place where we store our painful past experiences but also where we lock up a lot of our potential too. For example, imagine a small boy who has an abusive parent who constantly tells him that he’s stupid or not smart enough. This will have a psychological impact on the child. The child will not only adopt a personal story of not being smart enough, but he’s also going to take part of the potential of who he can be and lock it away in the unconscious mind. It’s only through facing these past demons and shadows, that we allow ourselves to move into a space where we are psychologically complete. Why men need more of shadow facing We all have moments where life showers challenges in our lives. And this has a major impact on men than it does on women. As a result of cultural pressure from fellow men and society, a lot of men have adopted a natural philosophy of handling problems in isolation, without seeking help or guidance from anyone. We’ve been taught as men that our highest value is in our ability to perform and solely find solutions to problems. Connor’s rock bottom. Growing up Connor lacked a sense of self-worth. He wasn’t very sharp in academics, he was average in sports, but excelled when it came to women. With time, Connor built a sense of self worth around the attention that he got from women. This turned him into a womanizer and an infidel partner who casually slept with other women for fun. All of this took a turn when Connor’s partner found out about his cheating ways after finding him with another woman. It was at this moment that Connor fully realized the impact of his actions. Having led a double life of hiding the truth and only showing what a happy and successful life he was living; Connor was too ashamed to face the world. And so, he took all of his shame and guilt and stored it in his shadow. This went on for a few weeks up until Connor got to his breaking point. He was living at the back of his car; sad, lonely, and depressed. That is when he decided to reach out to his friend and ask for support; leading to a self-discovery journey of facing his shadow. Through the process, Connor was able to focus on his insecurities and the part of him that was constantly seeking validation from women in order to be happy. The part of him that was using sex and porn as a distraction to get through his days and get through life. The time is never right to make a change. The narratives that we tell ourselves about our lives are very important, as they dictate the trajectory that we’re going in life. After working with men, women and couples for close to a decade now. Connor has noted that so many people believe change won’t happen unless we hit rock bottom. Unless we’re completely destroyed. A lot of individuals live under the mentality that growth can’t happen in a consistent and substantial way unless we’re bartered, beat and broken. In contrast to this belief we actually tend to hide our feelings and escape from reality when we feel pain, suffering, or insecurities. Our brains have been naturally designed to resist change because it can’t predict the outcome that will result from the change. And just like in Ryan Holiday’s book The Obstacle Is The Way, we should learn to accept and live by the universal truth that facing our challenges, especially when we least feel like it, is when we absolutely need to do it. Dark and Light Motivation There are two types of motivation. Dark motivation is fuelled by shame or the belief that we are not good enough. And most people build their lives, businesses, relationships and families based on this motivation. The sad truth is that this motivation will wear out with time. Light motivation on the other hand is a result of us moving into and facing the darkness in our lives. Even though we’re naturally designed to run away from tr

Ep 39Nick Santonastasso - How to Build an Unbreakable Mindset
How to Build an Unbreakable Mindset Joining me on the show today is Nick Santonastasso. Nick is a global keynote speaker and fitness model. What’s so incredible about his story is he kept pushing on despite having so many reasons to give up. Born with no legs and an arm, Nick had to fight through depression and suicidal thoughts growing up. With all odds against him, Nick developed a razor sharp mindset to become the success and inspiration he is today. The Foundation of Nick’s success. Nick owes it all to his parents. They are his superheroes. As a parent, you cultivate and mould your child’s mindset through your actions and words. While growing up as a kid, Nick’s parents never treated him any different. They treated him as a normal kid and handed him tasks that they would a normal kid. It is from his childhood that Nick developed the solution oriented mindset. Everytime his parents placed him in a situation that made him uncomfortable, Nick used it as an opportunity to grow both physically and mentally. Nick’s journey. Back in high school, Nick used to be a popular prankster. He’d dress up like a zombie and scare people. After finishing high school, Nick turned down the offer to attend college and instead chose to pursue a career in acting. And so he moved to LA. Two weeks after signing his first lease, the show he was supposed to perform in got cancelled. He didn’t even get the opportunity to film the pilot episode. As time went by, Nick found himself broke, with no money to pay rent or buy food. (Looking back at it now, Nick appreciates this lowpoint in his life. Till date, he still believes he can survive even when he lacks a penny in his name.) This forced him to move back home and live in his parents’ basement. With his pranking career down the drain, Nick decided to shift his focus on body building as his next life project. He analyzed the fitness industry and created a masterplan to use his unique body features to build a career as a bodybuilder. He would leverage what he had to entertain and motivate people. With this vision in mind. Nick pushed himself to the limit and this led to him being the success he is today. How Nick uses his mind as a tool to achieve success. For Nick, it’s all about focus and where you place it. Don’t place your focus on things you can’t control or the bad things going on in your life. Instead, you should place it on the positive things happening for you, and how to find solutions for the problems in your life. Work on yourself. A lot of people try to seek validation from other individuals in their lives such as parents, peers and work colleagues. Nick advises you to instead seek acceptance and validation from yourself. And the best way to do this, is to invest in yourself. When you work on yourself, you create clarity and momentum in your life. You are able to live based on your purpose and end up falling in love with yourself. Nick worked on himself through bodybuilding. Working out gave him confidence, upon which Nick has built his entire life and career. Seed planting and persistence. When his bodybuilding career was peeking. Nick decided to attend a mastermind course. It's here that he met his business partner and coach, Ratmir. Inspired by Nick’s story, Ratmir offered to work for Nick for free. Ratmir promised to build Nick a successful career as a public speaker. With the new journey onset, the duo used all the little chances and resources they could find to build Nick’s PR profile. Every event the duo attended, they would plant seeds in the form of networking and consistently communicating with the top speakers and VIP guests of the shows. Nick would give talks without asking for pay. Just to build his profile. With time, they were able to leverage the different relationships they had built through the years and Nick found himself sharing the stage with icons such as Tony Robbins and Tom Bilyeu. This served to boost Nick’s fast rising career as speaker. But even after accomplishing so much and establishing himself as a renowned speaker. Nick still does events for free. As a core principle in his life, Nick believes in doing the same things that you did when you were starting out that got you to where you are. Never derail from your foundation. Hang on to the principles that propelled you to success. Connect with Nick Santonastasso. Ep 36Shaman Durek - Transforming Your Life Through Spiritual Hacking
Are you ready to completely change your perceptions on reality and experience change like never before? If so, then I’ve got two words for you Shaman Durek. In hands down one of the most soul stirring interviews I’ve ever had, stay tuned into the show and be a part of an uplifting biohacking experience that is certain to change your views on everything you know and believe in. About Shaman Durek Although he was destined to be a Shaman because of his lineage. Durek had at one point in his life completely pushed the thought of becoming a Shaman away. Durek then went on a walkabout and chose otherwise, thus becoming the shaman he is today. Descendent from the West African country of Ghana. Durek’s ancestors were the village medicine people. As a result of slave trade and colonialism. Durek’s ancestors ended up practicing Lukumi (The merging of African shamanism and modern Catholicism) The merge has had its challenges since the two (African Shamanism and Catholicism) really contradict each other. Durek for example has always had a view of Shamanism as freedom, liberation, acknowledgment and relationship with everything around you. On the other hand, Durek views religion as a clause. With consequences as a result of the choices you make. Growing up and going to school in America was always tough for Durek. Sharing his experience of seeing, feeling and talking to spirits had other kids label him as crazy or evil. It’s thus been a long journey of trying to incorporate shamanism into the mainstream for him. The principles of Shamanism You as a human being, already have higher consciousness within you. The only problem is that you haven’t aligned your synapsis and neurological system in order to input the frequencies and codes in your body. Distractions and inflammations from the environment you are subjected in, is what’s preventing this alignment from happening. Shamanism is about enhancement and elevation. To accomplish this, you first need to closely observe your reality and remove the resistance and constrictions that are stopping you from being fully optimized. These constrictions are belief systems are as a result of what you’ve been taught to understand about yourself and the world you live in. They press against you and prevent your freedom. Constrictions include; fears, doubts, shame, guilt, worry, insecurities etc Once you face these constrictions, you’ll be able to operate in autonomy. Your happiness and freedom will no longer be tied down to other people or activities. Because you are the source of everything you experience. Blackout. This is a time when magnetic energy frequencies begin to lift the sediment of things that you have hidden away from your consciousness and society. A blackout experience is an opportunity to figure out how to stop reacting to everything, and instead, pull deeper into love, acceptance and understanding. Everything we achieve in life is based on getting acknowledged, noticed, heard, seen, appreciated, valued etc. The black out experience is about learning to break out from this culture. Instead of hustling and operating under the fear of lacking something, and motivation to get somewhere, you should instead, see yourself as aligned and magnetically drawing everything you need towards you. The trajectory for success is through cooperation, communication, engagement and authenticity. If you can apply these principles, then you will be able to come out on the other side as a success. Why don’t people embrace the Blackout experience then? Because we are naturally designed to be safe. We are all egocentric control freaks as a result of the system we’ve been programmed to live in. The key to breaking free is enhancing your spiritual immunity instead of safety. The Law of Duality There’s different polarities that are present in our planet. These polarities are acknowledged by a certain group of people or by an individual more than in other groups or individuals. We have all, as result, created a very dualistic way of viewing life. Duality has become a tool to understand reality, which of course, is all wrong. For example, the idea of what’s right or wrong is different in every society, subjective to their belief systems and environment. Because of this duality, we are stuck in the past and forget that we are changing. The reality of consciousness isn’t anything that’s dual or solid, rather it’s something that is fluid and transformable. Because the system is ever changing and evolving. Once you accept this reality, then you can be synergetic. You will be liberated from all the attachments, labels, ideas and conditions that have been forced on you subconsciously. We live in an illogical world. Your brain operates on frequencies and energy. If we lived in a logical world, then you would be given the ability to be loved unconditionally, truly express yourself as things happen in your life and maintain your biological system in a functional way. But because we don’t. Then you do neithe

Ep 35Sara Kuburic - Saving Millennials Through Modern Day Therapy
Sara Kubric: Saving Millennials through Modern Therapy Techniques. I’m honoured to host Sara Kuburic as the guest on our show today. Sara is a Canadian certified counsellor and a trauma informed clinician. She has a person-centred approach that’s grounded in existential analysis as well as semantic and experiential techniques. She specializes in areas of trauma & abuse, identity relationships with self & others, life transitions, and anxiety. The Millennial Therapist: Sara’s unique and modern approach to healing. When starting out as a young clinician or student in grad school, you’re presented with a diverse range of therapeutic modalities. This can tend to be overwhelming when making your selection. Sara decided to pick a modality that resonates with her personality and character. Based on this criterion, Sara involves her clients in open, honest and genuine conversations with her patients, all of which leads to an effective growth and healing journey. Having initially started off with Neuroscience, Sara found herself switching to an existential approach after stumbling across a patient whose treatment involved performing an existential analysis. Sara’s modern approach to Psychotherapy In today’s society, instant gratification has led to the striving and application of quick solutions and coping mechanisms to deal with our problems. That is why so many therapists also pick modalities that cater for quick results, and end up ignoring the deep-rooted issues that need to be solved. In contrast to this, Sarah preaches for and practices awareness and honesty as an effective therapy strategy. Growth is sometimes characterised by pain and discomfort, and so it’s counterproductive when so many modern therapists try to make their clients feel as comfortable as they can throughout the entire therapy session. This only serves to limit their growth. People pleasing. Having grown to be such a big cultural aspect of our society, people pleasing is an attribute that’s been happening for ages. Sara describes pleasing people as the act of trying to get the approval of other people, regardless of the sacrifice that you have to make in order to accomplish your goal. As a society, we tend to applaud people for placing other people’s needs before their own and criticize the ones that put themselves first. Self-care is now seen as being selfish. Essentially, the things that we yearn to do in order to gain other people’s approval are things that we can’t always, but partially offer ourselves. Gaslighting. Being aware that you’re a victim of gaslighting is an incredibly difficult feat. Gas lighting is a relationship phenomenon characterised by toxic manipulation of the victim. It’s so complex to an extent that the victim has a really hard time to connect to themselves and reality. It’s psychological abuse, that leads to the victim going through detrimental suffering, and more often than not, isolating themselves from everyone too. Setting healthy boundaries. Unlike the popular belief in so many cultures, setting boundaries with your friends and family, is not an ultimatum or control mechanism. Rather, it’s a request to other people to be more empathetic while still protecting our needs, and nurturing our connection with other people. Boundaries are different for everyone and we should feel confident when setting them. Never be afraid to give your honest thoughts and opinions about how other people’s actions, behaviours, and opinions impact us. Inner child. The concept defines re-enactments that we do as adults in relation to our childhood experiences. These acts are triggered by needs that were never fulfilled when you were growing up as a kid. Inner child can sometimes manifest in the form of tantrums. So, whilst we try to fulfil these needs in our adult life, we do so without realizing that we’re doing so in an unproductive or harmful way. Sometimes there’s the beautiful inner child. This is where our intuition, creativity, and playfulness stems from. Thus, as much as the inner child can be harmful, we can learn how to decipher between the productive and unproductive inner child for a happier life. The Shame tagged with seeking therapy Unlike being able to spot a physiological defect within your body such as a broken arm, it’s difficult to pinpoint what you lack when it comes to therapy. So, most people end up concluding that they’re broken. And this induces a lot of shame. To change this mentality, we can accept our flaws and own the fact that we need help, this way, we flip the conversation from therapy to self-growth and development. Be sure to tune into the show, and grow from insights provided by Sara Kuburic, including how you can use fitness & nutrition as guidelines for a healthy mind, and why humour is one of the best tools to calm a troubled mind. His second book, Everyday Millionaires: How Ordinary People Built Extraordinary Wealth—And How You Can Too, is based on the largest study of millionaires ever conducted Growing up with a single mom Despite his dad not being around, Chris grew up with a lot of family members and mentors, all of whom believed in his abilities. From his upbringing and environment, Chris was able to pick up on what inspired him and mould a character from it. Growth and Mindset Growing to be a better person comes down to one thing. Your heart. You’ll never grow because someone has asked or told you to. You’ll never grow because of something you’ve seen. You’ll only grow once you decide to look into your heart and make the decision to change for better. Thus, growth is an internal decision. And the beauty of it, is that it’s not a one time decision. It’s an everyday decision that we have to make. A decision about how we feel about ourselves and how we view others. And although there’s nothing wrong with glancing back every once in a while to see how far we’ve come, it’s important to always focus on the future. We’ve got more ahead of us than that’s ever been behind us. Remember to also spend time around supportive people who believe in you and encourage you to reach for your success. Isolating will only lead to a downward spiral of constant backsliding. Servant Leadership The corporate mainstream has a culture of people at the bottom doing things in order to accomplish what people the top need accomplished. Servant leadership flips this triangle around. The focus shifts to the people at the bottom. The top level individuals focus on how and what to do to make life easier and better for the ones at the bottom. This kind of mentality, according to Chris, causes leaders to step outside of their title and start looking at people for what they truly are, and that’s people. Ultimately, it’s less about what you do and more about what you do to benefit others. You’re looking for ways to serve and encourage other people through their life journeys. The power of your inner circle. You think and become like the people you spend your time with. And this is something you should be mindful about. It’s common to have friends who are negative or make you feel uncomfortable, and the key here is to make a choice of not letting them influence you. It’s all about constantly being proactive in deciding what you want to focus on. Take in the good stuff and filter the bad out. How Chris conquered his biggest adversity Chris’ youngest son was at 2 years, diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder. It was gut wrenching for Chris. No matter how much he tried to be positive, it was extremely difficult and painful for Chris to walk through and acknowledge this reality. One of Chris’ biggest regrets in life is how he chose to handle that problem. For the first 1 and a half years, Chris chose to isolate to himself and his problems. Eventually though, Chris made the decision to understand and learn about the disease his son had, and with the knowledge, cam awareness. It’s through awareness that we can make life changing decisions from our hearts. In conclusion, it’s important to acknowledge that none of us is perfect. But we are indeed perfectly capable of making improvements. The most important thing in the self-development process is to identify the areas that you need improvement and begin taking action towards it. Be willing to forgive yourself for the sake of growth and seek constant guidance from experts in the areas you need improvement. And last but not least, remember to keep a close company to friends and family who support and believe in you. Ep 33Jill Coleman - Changing Your Lifestyle and Purpose Through Mindset
Jill Coleman Changing Your lifestyle, Purpose and Direction Through Mindset. Joining me on the show today is Jill Coleman, an established mindset, lifestyle and nutrition coach. In the show we cover Jill’s journey into the health and fitness industry, building her business brand and how she overcame the heartbreak and self-distraction after her divorce. Jill’s life path into Nutrition, Health and Fitness. Having played sports throughout her school years, Jill found herself on the losing side every once in a while. She not only got used to the feeling of defeat, but also found a way of getting over it and building a character and personality of resilience. Passionate about the health and fitness niche, Jill taught her first group fitness class when she was just 16. In school, Jill was always into sports and athletics; from triathlons to avalons and marathons. But dancing was her biggest love. With time, Jill found herself hooked to the transformative power that healthy eating and exercise had in changing a person’s physical outlook. This led her into winning a figure competition after losing a whopping 20 pounds. What young Jill wasn’t aware of at the time, was the post competition blues. With numerous compliments, approvals and affirmations being sent her way after the win, Jill got used to her new environment only to find herself gaining 15 pounds in only 2 weeks. What would follow was a 6 year roller coaster of losing and gaining 20-30 pounds every year. Confused and depressed, Jill finally decided to make a stand and re-focus her attention into blogging as a way of curbing the need to have a perfect body. She found her bliss through blogging everyday for 2 years and creating a nutritional philosophy of eating the same meal all year round. It’s all about your Mindset. A lot of people get into exercise and diet for the wrong reasons. They don’t really know what they want. This has caused an epidemic of people obsessed with having the perfect body through over-exercising and wrong dieting. Instead of being happy and grateful for achieving their goals, a lot of people only feel relief and the need to accomplish more goals. Social media has only magnified this through the constant portrayal of fitness junkies, as the perfect reflection of what success and happiness is. Jill was a victim of this loop, but after shifting her attention and sense of purpose into her newly established business, she was able to pull through. As a mindset coach, Jill advises us to focus more on the process of achieving our goals, rather than the end result. It’s through this that we can accomplish much more than we had set out to. Having battled through her own setbacks and adversities in exercise and business, Jill points out 3 tips to help us succeed in our business endeavors. Consistency. People who dive into businesses and careers driven by a sense of urgency to make money only end up burnt and stressed out. Build a strong foundation of passion where you’re constantly driven to pursue excellence through practice and consistency. Focus on the quality of the value you’re giving. Quantity begets Quality. With enough practice, anyone can become a pro in any business venture. Pull back the curtain and share your own struggles. This is a trust building formula of connecting with your audience. Being open and honest about your past and current struggles will help you bond with your audience at a personal level. How Jill Navigated through her marital infidelity. Having been married for more than 10 years. It was heart-breaking for Jill to find out her husband was having an affair. Jill plunged in helplessness and self-worth doubt when she discovered this. What followed was a destructive path of drinking, dating and working overtime to numb the pain. Jill felt wronged, in pain and confused. As much as she was justified to play the victim and point the finger, Jill decided otherwise and was able to transition through personal development and owning up. Despite being in such a hard spot, she always believed in herself and the power to overcome the emotional wreck she had become. Jill was able to embrace and move past her marriage and divorce to her ex-husband. Ep 32Damon West - From Life in Prison to Becoming a Coffee Bean
This story is one of the most inspiring you will EVER hear. Sentenced to sixty-five years in a Texas prison, Damon West once had it all. Damon West, M.S. Criminal Justice, is a college professor, nationally known keynote speaker and best-selling author (with best-selling author and motivational speaker Jon Gordon) of The Coffee Bean: A simple Lesson to Create Positive Change. His first book and autobiography, The Change Agent: How a Former College QB Sentenced to Life in Prison Transformed His World, was published just three years after his release from a Texas maximum-security prison. At 20 years old, he was a Division 1 starting quarterback at the University of North Texas, when he suffered a career ending injury. He turned to hard core drugs to cope with disappointments of life. After graduation, he worked in the United States Congress, was a national fundraiser on a U.S. Presidential campaign and eventually trained to be a stock-broker for United Bank of Switzerland (UBS). One day at UBS, he was introduced to methamphetamines; he became instantly hooked—and the lives of so many innocent people would forever be changed by the choices he made in order to feed his insatiable meth habit. After a fateful discussion during his incarceration with a seasoned convict, Damon had a spiritual awakening. He learned that, like a coffee bean changing with the application of heat and pressure, he was capable of changing the environment around him. Armed with a program of recovery, a renewed faith, and a miraculous second chance at life, Damon emerged from over seven years of prison a changed man. His story of redemption, grit and determination continues to inspire audiences today. Today, Damon lives a life of recovery and service, going to meetings and sharing his story all over the country with schools, church's, athletic teams, corporations, conferences and inside correctional facilities. Over the past few years, he has been sharing the Coffee Bean lesson with dozens of college football teams such as Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, and Texas, and countless schools and businesses. His #BeACoffeeBean message has inspired thousands from Walmart to the NBA. Damon’s message connects with audiences on a level rarely before seen, as evidenced by the lengthy and thought-provoking Q&A following each presentation. His ability to articulate his story is proof that sometimes they lock-up the right person. Damon’s story has been featured both nationally and globally. His second book, The Coffee Bean, co-authored with best-selling author Jon Gordon, became an instant best-seller and a part of Forbes’ “Top Twenty Books You Need to Read to Crush 2020.” Damon is passionate about the Coffee Bean message and loves sharing how it changed his life and how it can change yours, too. He is excited about the Coffee Bean Clubs that are being started by students at schools across the country. Ep 30David Sinclair - Modifying Our Lifestyle to Reverse Aging
Dr. David Sinclair: Modifying Our Lifestyle to Reverse Aging Today I’m incredibly honored to host Dr. David Sinclair. David is a professor in the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School. He’s the author of New York’s Times best-seller Lifespan, a book with insights on why we age, and how we can slow and even reverse aging. A top innovator, David was in 2014, named on Time Magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World, and listed as Time's Top 50 in healthcare in 2018. David’s inspiration growing up David grew up with his grandmother, who was a constant believer in his abilities and always motivated him to set and shoot for his life-goals and he will always achieve them. In an unfair world filled with cruel and mischievous people, David’s grandmother always reminded him to be grateful and generous where he could. To always do whatever he can to make the world a better place than it is. David owes a lot of current success and grit to this background and claims that every no one needs a positive environment of someone who believes in them, and they too can set to achieve greatness. Hormesis: Using exercise and healthy eating to fight aging. Being a trained geneticist, you’d think that David would vouch for DNA as the major contributing factor for your health and wellness destiny. But oh no, the key to this, David says is the epigenome The epigenome is the real powerhouse and determinant of our lifestyle i.e how much we sleep, mental stress, physical fitness etc. A study on identical twins held in Denmark supports this claim, with the findings suggesting that we only inherit from our parents 20% in terms of the predictability of our long-term health. The key to better physical and mental health and ultimately slow aging, David states, is through exercise and healthy eating. As for exercise - do anything that gets your breathing level up for at least 15 minutes Exercising triggers the longevity genes which regulate the epigenome - which is in control of how we age. Healthy eating also triggers the epigenome, resulting in similar effects. Healthy eating and numerous benefits of fasting. It’s no surprise that what we eat is a big contributor of how our health turns out to be. However, what always seems to be left out, is how to eat. Having 3 meals a day and zero exercise has a reverse effect on your mind.Your brain loves being relaxed - just sitting down and having snacks is all you need - By giving in to this kind of lifestyle, you’re sacrificing your body’s ability to fight diseases and aging. Because your body gets the message from the brain that it’s very safe and there’s plenty of security and food to eat. So you relax, and the defense modes switch off. It’s for this reason that obese people who don’t exercise, not only look older, but are actually older. Fasting triggers the longevity genes as well. Through fasting, the body is tricked into thinking there isn’t enough resources to live on. Amino acids are also restricted and the epigenome is activated too. Types of foods David suggests you should take when fasting. You don’t want foods with a lot of sugar - as they make you get hungry faster Don’t be too rough on yourself - one milkshake isn’t bad (as long as you’re consistent) Best meal for him is a salad with a bit of olive oil on it or vinegar Protein is good in small amounts. Green leafy vegetables and practice Hormesis i.e If your plants are stressed before you eat them you get the benefit. So you don’t have to do it yourself. You can eat plants; That have grown without much rain or water in the environment. With bugs on them Dr. David Sinclair’s Adversity - Growing from the failures and setbacks he’s been through There’s no way to be successful without massive amounts of adversity, criticisms, failures and mistakes, claims David. We don’t have all the answers, and aren’t perfect either. Failure is part of the journey. And as David shares his lowest point in life, he certainly owes a lot of his current progress and success as a result of embracing and his setbacks and learning from them. David saw his mom die in front of him, which was of course, a big blow to him, both emotionally and psychologically. But it’s the career setback he really digs into and narrates on the show. Close to the tip of being sacked and losing his reputation (which for scientists is everything) A 41 year old David was completely battered, beaten and destroyed. When he was 34 years old, David and his team had just uncovered a huge biological milestone through a breakthrough which seemed too easy and good to be true. And so they patented it. 7 years down the line. David would face so much criticism from journalists and scientists, all of whom claimed that everything he had published on his breakthrough was false. And so the company that he had invested so much in, and received millions of dollars in donations for clinical trials was a hoodwink and based on lies. About half of David’s lab staff abandoned

Ep 28Dean Graziosi - Using the Underdog Mindset to Overcome Life's Challenges
My guest on the show today is the legendary Dean Graziosi. Serial entrepreneur, multiple New York Times best selling author and all round great guy. Our main theme of discussion today is being the beacon of light and hope in the current pandemic ridden times. Having experienced 4 downmarkets himself, Dean understands that it’s completely normal and human to feel insecure and worried over what tomorrow brings. But instead of focusing on the negative side of the pandemic, we should focus on the bright side. So many individuals have always wanted extra time to work on their lives and start that new online business or learn that new skill, the funny part about all of these, is that so many of these individuals are either stuck on their seats stressing over what’s on the news, or aimlessly giving in to their impulses to drink and eat heavily. Just like the last recession and the great depression, this too shall pass. And the question that we should all reflect on, is what kind of person we’re going to be on the other side. Will you have: Gained extra capabilities and made something good out of the opportunities that are sprouting as a result of the pandemic Or Remain dormant & pessimistic, and be the one to miss it all when it’s all over Everyone right now, starting from our close friends and family members, are in dire need of leadership, inspiration and a role model to look up to. They need you to step up and be the one to guide them through this tough, unfamiliar territory. So that when it’s all over, they’ll look back and remember that you’re the one who took the initiative to be creative and innovative, creating a safe haven for them when everything was going to hell. If history is anything to go by, out of the ashes of the fire that’s burning, new industries and businesses will arise and strive. There’ll certainly be more wealthy people made out of this pandemic too. A close friend of Dean recently told him a story of two restaurants quarter a mile apart from each other that had to shut down as a result of the covid-19 pandemic. While one of the owners got extremely mad and began pointing fingers and blaming everyone; from China, to the government and the president. The owners of the other restaurant took to restructuring their restaurant the weekend that they were closed. They made it in such a way that the cooks could cook in different distanced places. Later on they made a shelter for a drive through so that customers could pull in and place their orders. Right now, one restaurant is still shut down, with a bitter and mad owner. The other restaurant business on the other hand is making 3 times the amount of sales and profits that they’ve ever made in their entire life. 5 years from now, one owner will complain that his business was thriving until Covid-19 shut him down, while the other wonder will testify that his business was doing ok until Covid-19 came along and now he owns 6 restaurants. While one individual focused on finding a solution and innovating his way through the obstacles brought by the pandemic, the other one focused and obsessed on who moved his cheese, and demanding it back. All the massively successful individuals in our modern times and history, lacked resources They lacked resources, but learned to be massively resourceful. A lot of individuals claim that what’s holding them back from success is lack of financial resources, supportive family members, better staff etc. But the sad and simple truth is that what they truly lack is resourcefulness. In life, you should learn to embrace the struggles that you go through. All of your setbacks, failures, and challenges are just setting you up for your greatest comeback! The underdog lifestyle that you’re going through is a gift to help you get through and navigate new territories and be bulletproof. All it takes is changing your mindset and looking at things from a different angle. Learn to make your disadvantages, critics, and the power of being resourceful over having resources as the fuel to drive you into success. A lot of people see Dean and praise him for being so lucky to have come so far and achieved so much. They see him in great shape and thank his genetics. They see what a wonderful wife and disciplined kids and count him as the luckiest family man. What they don’t see however is him waking up at 5 in the morning to exercise in the gym How he worked on himself and saw a coach in order to change who he was and attract the right life partner. The several parenting books he’s read and counsellor he’s seen for 3 years in order to be a great dad. A lot of our subconscious tend to protect us from this reality. All we see is success, but not the determination, obsession and habits that had to be put in in order for other people’s success to manifest in their lives. From this story. Dean encourages us to focus on how we can best use our resources to overcome and prosper in the current environment that has affected everyone and all bus

Today on the show, I had my dear friend Johnny Elsasser on to talk about his journey through the elite special operations military system. Ep 25Dr. Will Cole - Leveraging Functional Medicine as a Tool for Healthier and Happier Living
Leveraging Functional Medicine as a tool for healthier and happier living. Welcome back to the show everyone, today’s guest is someone that I’ve been wanting to talk to for quite a while now. Given my passion into the holistic approaches towards health and wellness, Dr. Will Cole is undoubtedly one of the most experienced and educated individuals in the field of Nutrition and Functional Medicine. Dr. Will Cole, is a leading functional medicine expert, who specializes in clinically investigating the underlying factors of chronic disease and customizing health programs for thyroid issues, autoimmune conditions, hormonal dysfunctions, digestive disorders and brain problems. Distinctive from modern medicine’s style of the sick-care approach where there’s an emphasis on treating the symptoms, Dr. Will Cole, as a functional medic, takes a more health-care approach and provides his patients with advice and treatment after diagnosing the root problem based on their unique biological make up. Functional Medicine - Common causes of inflammation and what you can do to minimize it. You can’t talk about metabolic, autoimmune and mental issues without bringing in the underlying factor that is chronic inflammation. What drives inflammation in one person is different from what drives inflammation in another person. Thus, inflammation is a commonality, and not a causation. In his latest book The Inflammation Spectrum, Dr. Will Cole , through his extensive research and experience, takes a deeper dive into how we can naturally balance our immune system. He suggests that we can mitigate and calm inflammation by reducing our intake of the four core causes of inflammation. These include; Grains Dairy Sugar Industrial seed oils Alongside the four major causes, there are also four other sub-categories which include; Nuts and seeds Legumes Eggs Nightshades Other common non-food causes of inflammation include; Stress Lack of enough sleep Social isolation Increased screen time Social media What goes on in your gastric system is also a big contributor to how imbalanced or balanced your body is. Viral infections, heavy metal toxicity and lymes are some of the most common causes of inflammation in your gut. So what does Dr. Will Cole suggest we do to reduce inflammation? The biggest step we can take is to minimize or completely eradicate our intake of the four core causes of inflammation. This alongside, increasing our input of healthy fats such as avocados, extra virgin oil, coconuts and pasteurized eggs is a sure way of reducing our chances of getting inflammation. There’s no denying the link between our mind, body and wellness. At the end of the day, what really counts is our head space. Renegotiating the relationship with ourselves, the present moment we live in and what we want from life contributes a big part to our mental well being. Dr. Will Cole also suggests that activities that calm our mind and increase our self awareness such as meditation, nature time and self reflection are some of the daily practices we should learn to make a habit out of. We ought to use self care as a form of self-respect. Love and respect yourself enough to eat and engage in activities that are only good for you. The light and grace that we receive after realizing our true value and strength is the genesis of sustainable wellness. Love yourself enough to settle for nothing less than what improves your mental and physical well being. Ep 20Chris and Heidi Powell - The Secrets to True Transformation
Today I have the honour of hosting a couple that is without a doubt one of the most profound life transformers on the planet. Their impact can be felt globally through their ‘Transform App’ and ABC show ‘Extreme Weight Loss’ They are Chris and Heidi Powell. However, in today’s show, our main focus won’t be on their success, but rather on their adversity journey. The trials and tribulations they’ve had to encounter and fight through in order to be who they are today. Numbing the pain and suffering with Vicodin – Chris’ background story. In 2006. A young Chris was pumped up with big dreams on how he wanted to make a difference and impact on people’s lives. This saw him invent a nutrition product, which he’d later on patent and borrowed hundreds of thousands of dollars to fund. Chris then outsourced the manufacture of his product in China. Soon enough, he was going to start making an impact. This however, was never meant to be. When his product finally arrived from China. It was not at all what he had in mind. Its quality and design were all wrong and of poor quality. This broke Chris mentally. He would soon after this, develop an anxiety disorder. When it rains, it showers. Two months prior to the failure of Chris’ dream Nutrition product. He had a back-disc problem which saw the doctor prescribe Vicodin as a way of numbing the physical pain. When his investment tumbled into pieces, and Chris was emotional and psychologically broken, he found out that Vicodin was not only a remedy to his physical pain, but his emotional pain as well. Thus, began an addiction journey that would last two years. Chris totally withdrew from the world. He never wanted to be around people unless he was high on Vicodin. It was all grey clouds and loneliness when he was alone and sober. But under the influence of Vicodin, Chris would change to all smiles and life of the party. Chris convinced himself that no one wanted the boring sober Chris. Alongside his closest and most caring companions who were also drug addicts, Chris built his entire lifestyle under this philosophy. And, because he was deep in debt and totally broke because of his newly found addiction. Chris’ friend, who was hooked on oxytocin allowed him to stay with him rent free. A new start Chris’ roommate leant towards suboxone as a way of trying to fix his addiction on oxytocin. What resulted was a traumatic experience of Chris driving his nearly dead roommate to hospital in order to be treated. Driving back home. Chris couldn’t help but reflect on the events that nearly took his roommate’s life. Constant reflection and self-examination would see a broken Chris seek refuge in a neighbour’s house for 2 weeks, where he solely underwent his detoxification. Heidi’s story. Newly divorced, and still suffering from her own personal issues and insecurities, Heidi found herself searching for fulfilment in other people through relationships and connections. Heidi was ever scared of being left alone to her thoughts, which would always torment her because she knew she would always have to face the truths and facts in her broken life. Heidi was a people pleaser and couldn’t say no to any requests, because she was afraid of being deemed valueless by ones she turned down. She would later on go to see her therapist because of the identity crisis she underwent after the divorce with her husband. Her therapist suggested that she attends a self-improvement seminar as a way of fixing herself. Meeting Chris To deal with her personal identity problem, Heidi decided to attend the entire seminar with no makeup on. While at the seminar fate would have her bump into Chris, who Heidi was not even in the tiniest bit interested in. What followed after their first encounter at the seminar was a string of communication between the two. The following day, after Chris granted her a present in the form of his Nutrition idea to make a difference in people's lives, Heidi couldn’t help but feel Chris’s dream to help people and make a positive impact worldwide. They only kept getting closer and understanding each other from that moment. Heidi knew she could help Chris get to where he wanted, whilst Chris taught Heidi that it’s ok to have dreams that you want to achieve in life. While he was still recovering from his addictions and loss in the once gigantic self-confidence and belief he had in himself, Heidi believed in Chris until he was able to believe in himself again. You’re definitely in for an inspiring ride in today’s interview. Stay tuned and find out more about the obstacles that Chris and Heidi have gone through in their lives, and how it has helped shape them to be the victors they are today. Get to also find out about how Chris started his ABC Show ‘Extreme Weight Loss’ and what personal strategies and philosophies that has propelled their success in every project they’ve undertaken. Ep 19Miss Jordan: Unlocking the Key to Spirituality
Hope you’re all doing alright despite the current global pandemic we’re all going through. Joining me on the show is Miss Jordan, a Divine Channel and free-spirited spiritual facilitator. Her purpose is to help humanity awaken to an elevated way of being. She’s also a soul transformation and mindset breakthrough coach who takes pride in helping people activate their online dormant DNA. I met Miss Jordan while at a mastermind retreat, where she put us through an awakening exercise that made me think more about spirituality than I usually do. In the show, we get into how there’s a lot of propaganda and spiritual bypassing surrounding the theme of Spiritual awakening. From the online gurus to spiritual teachers, there’s a lot of individuals out there who boast of the fact that they vibrate at a higher frequency than everyone else. Miss Jordan gives us her own opinion of what it really means to be spiritually woke, and the individual power that comes with it. Sleeper Living In the world we live in, it’s very common for a lot of people to react to the social conditions and settings they’re in. Such people tend to be less self-aware, barely take the chance to pause and reflect on the current situation before they respond to it. Such individuals are the sleeper living. To be more self-aware, means that we should all take a step back and weigh our options on how we can best handle a situation before we merely let our thought, emotions and opinions on the situation. Reflecting on the emotions of love and fear in regards to the situation at hand can greatly help us control our reaction towards different situations. The role of all our experiences Accepting all our experiences, whether past or present, good or bad, is vital into our self-awareness and ultimately spiritual growth. A lot of individuals through advice from third parties try to rewrite or dismiss traumatic childhood experiences that have left them scared for life. Freedom however, is in the total opposite of this. We should learn to embrace and understand our past. How our past and current negatives experiences such as depression, addiction and trauma affect us is dependent on how we choose to reflect, view, perceive and respond to it. It is only by doing so that we can choose our desired outcome from the experience. Miss Jordan’s Journey Miss Jordan had a tough start in life. Her identity was based on her opinion of how she should act and behave in order for people to like and accept her. She was stuck in this self-prison for the most part of her life growing up. This, however, all changed when she decided to dive into self-development as a way to be her true self. Miss Jordan realised that she was slowly redefining her life and reality by surrounding herself more with people, places and ideas that created the thoughts and emotions that she cherished. As she took a deeper dive into herself and her experiences, Miss Jordan found herself drawn towards helping other people with difficulties such as the ones she experienced earlier on in her life. And so, it was really never a choice that she made on being a spiritual teacher or helper. All Miss Jordan did was be her best self through self-reflection and understanding. It was this practice that led her to the path that she’s currently on. Stay tuned in the show as I also share my past personal experience into how I escaped the rabbit hole of a hard past life characterised by drugs and negative emotions. My decision to make a stand and change into a more reflective person and how it all saved me from a fate that was most certainly an early grave. Timestamps (1:00) How I met Miss Jordan (3:15) What it means to be spiritually woke (6:22) How being self-aware relates to spiritual growth (10:43) My growth journey into being more self-aware over the past decade (12:15) the role of our past experiences in shaping our awareness and reality (20:33) Reflecting on my big awakening and turning point in life (24:56) How Mis Jordan embarked on her spiritual awakening journey (33:25) Miss Jordan’s role as a Medium (36:05) Miss Jordan’s Sun analogy of viewing the world through different lens (41:28) How you too, can make the shift into spiritual awareness (50:30) Miss Jordan’s gift to you Quotes If you enter into the world of self – discovery and spirituality from a centre grounded space of pure intention of understanding your belief system and the energy you emit to the world, you can’t help but start to live in a little bit of a different reality and carry a higher energy frequency. You can call it enlightened, woke, or whatever word you want to place on it. But basically, I think it all comes down to creating an awareness of self and the world your experiencing. This alongside, staying committed to a desire to discover and understand more. It’s the small commitment to being relentless in understanding the truth of who you are on a soul level and designing how you choose to experience your life. You can only align with th

Ep 16Rob Kowalski: Why Waiting Works
In today's episode we go deep on a subject of "adversity" that is not talked about too much, sex. Not so much the sex itself, but why it can be extremely beneficial to wait until you have found someone you want to spend the rest of your life with to have it. Rob Kowalski has gone a complete 180 and went from one of the most sought out male strippers and entertainers to someone who has been abstinent from sex for over 6+ years until he finds the one he wants to marry. Listen in as he talks about his rock bottom moment, practical reasons why waiting does work and his mission and vision behind the organization he co-founded, CityFam. Whether or not you agree with him on the subject, I think everyone will get some value out of this. His video on waiting to have sex before marriage is the number one most viewed on YouTube in its category. Bio: Rob is a self-proclaimed reformed bad boy. Once the biggest stripper and nightclub promoter in his hometown of Baltimore, he had a radical life-changing encounter with Jesus that transformed him forever. His testimony from life of excess to redemption has inspired millions of people from around the world already. His mess has become his message. Ep 15Tara Kemp: Healing the Inner Child Through Nutrition
On today's episode, I sit down with mental health coach and self love expert, Tara Kemp. Tara's story really intrigued me as she has experienced true transformation of her relationship with herself and food and now is helping to inspire others to do the same. Her wisdom and knowledge with doing the "inner work" is something that is extremely inspiring and can be easily be implemented. We spoke about loving yourself and embracing the good along with the bad and why it's important. We also dive into the buzz word of "Inner Child," how it relates to nutrition and healing and also how what you put in your body is a direct reflection of your love and compassion for yourself. You will learn through all of this that connection through mind, body and spirit is crucial for healing. Tara's Bio: I’m a health and lifestyle coach, mental health advocate, self-love expert, writer, researcher, and speaker. I’m all about helping you to find a healthy relationship with yourself. I’m here to support you in doing the inner work: exploring who you are and building self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-compassion. I believe in the beauty of our wholeness. This means that I guide you to embrace your dark parts just as much as your light. I help you to release the stories that keep you small so that you can step into your full power. Intertwined into all of this is your relationship with your body and with food. As a society, we are largely disconnected from both. But both are incredibly important components in the venn diagram of your overall health and wellness. I’ve worked in the fields of nutrition and lifestyle medicine for 7 years. But while I still care deeply about nutrition, over the past few years I’ve shifted my focus to mental and emotional health. I discovered that the problem usually isn’t a lack of education around how to eat or live healthfully. There is certainly a lot of confusion and conflicting opinions about “what to eat,” but ultimately, the science clearly shows that eating more plant foods and less refined/processed foods is associated with better health. It’s also well-known that moving your body, keeping stress levels low, and keeping a consistent sleep routine are also important. Most people know what they want to do for themselves, the struggle is just in actually doing it. The complexity and challenges that hold you back from executing what you know is best for you come from the psychological and emotional world in which you live inside your mind. In order to be sustainable, lifestyle change must be founded in self-love. When you heal your relationship with yourself, you lay the foundation for true inner peace. I am here to witness your journey. To hold space for you as you move through it. To inspire you to ask the tough questions. To be a guiding light helping you to trust that the work is worth the outcome, even when you can’t see it up ahead. To help you look at yourself with acceptance and unconditional love.
