We do this by providing simple Gift Bags to kids as they enter the hospital made by other kids. There is a special connection between kids of all ages that you can’t duplicate, and a simple act of kindness amplifies this connection to a deeper meaning of giving. LSNF was founded in 2004 by Raymond Mohler, Jr., at age six. Ray had a scary hospital experience as a child but was able to leave the hospital after one day. Feeling fortunate that he did not have a life-threatening nor permanent disease, but rather one that is treatable and fully recoverable, Ray decided he needed to give back to the kids whom he left behind at the hospital who were not as fortunate as he was. Ray’s mission – even at his young age – was to help relieve the fear, anxiety, and isolation experienced by children related to a child’s hospital visit. Stay connected with us on social media! If you enjoy the show, please subscribe for weekly episodes and rate the show 5 stars to help others join our conversations!Hi everyone, my name is Eliza Marrero, but you can call me Ela (E-la). I’ve spent years cooking and baking since I was a little girl. My favorite place in the house was the kitchen; I loved the power food had to bring people together and make them smile. Throughout high school, I would have unexplainable episodes that would land me in the hospital. I would wake up covered in hives with my eyes so swollen I could barely see, and often times my tongue would begin to swell. I spent months in and out of specialists’ offices, the hospital, and numerous doctors’, but no one could figure out what was causing it. There were no new foods, clothes, detergents, or even makeup. Those episodes eventually stopped until my freshman year of college. They began to happen again, but this time it involved my stomach. I spent endless nights sleeping in the bathroom as I would not be able to stop throwing up. Every time I ate, my stomach blew up like a balloon, and I looked 9 months pregnant. I would get nausea and the worst body aches. After numerous blood tests and an endoscopy, I was diagnosed with what I thought at the moment would be my worst nightmare: Celiac disease. As a freshman living on campus without a kitchen, you can only imagine how difficult it was physically, emotionally, socially, and financially. I spent months trying different alternatives while still struggling to get 18 years of gluten out of my system.I craved delicious sweet treats, but I couldn’t find any that actually tasted good and were worth the high price tag. That summer I made it my mission to experiment, making all my previously favorite desserts into gluten-free versions. Ela’s Sweets was born because everyone deserves to enjoy delicious treats despite their dietary restrictions.Stay connected with us on social media! S21 Ep 22#346: Veteran, TEDx Speaker, & Growing Art Internationally with Jason Mathias
I haven’t been everywhere yet, but it’s on my to-do list. I have visited a fair bit of the world, though, witnessing it all with the skepticism of a native New Yorker. My first years in the military reshaped me. The New Yorker in me got pummeled. I learned. Traveled. Relearned. That became my habit. When complacency sets in, I know it’s time to move again. Along the way, I learned first the camera, and later the pen. Today I carry both and they war with each other for my attention. While stationed at Eielson Air Force Base, I faced skepticism about my solo backcountry hiking in Alaska. “No picture, no proof.” Photography solved that problem. Since then, that knack for documentation has bloomed, wintered, and bloomed again. I now define my photography as having two distinct themes: Comfortable Isolation and the Aria. I have been mastering skills but also crafting my art as a cameraman into a vision that is personal and wholly my own.Welcome back to That Entrepreneur Show! S21 Ep 21#345: Giving Daily Gifts and Publishing Dreams with Teresa Velardi
Welcome back to That Entrepreneur Show! Host Vincent A. Lanci recently had his 7th book release and 2nd as a Co-Author. The publisher behind the release, 10x Author and Founder Authentic Endeavors Publishing, Teresa Velardi, is here! If you enjoy this episode, please rate the show 5 stars and subscribe for future episodes with top-performing entrepreneurs! Meet our Guest: Change is the one thing we can always count on (whether we like it or not). All of us, at one time or another, experience change. It is an ongoing process; life itself is a continuous transformation. The last few years are living proof. In addition to being a coach, I am also a potter. The process of making pottery is such a great illustration of transformation. A ball of clay becomes a work of art!I’ve come to believe that personal and business growth comes from the willingness to do things differently while being open to all possibilities in the transformation process. More often than not, when we think life couldn’t get any better or any more uncomfortable, something brings us to the next level of our growth, just like the strengthening of the clay in the fire. Afterward, we realize it all had to unfold exactly how it did to live our most authentic lives. Many of us have to reinvent ourselves in many areas, and I can help you get to where you need to be. -You can enjoy her most recent episode on Writing with Authors here!-Publisher/ 10x Author/ Editor Teresa Velardi Joins the Writing with Authors-She also had the courage to share her journey on A Mental Health Break -Check us out on social media @ThatEntrepreneurShow on all platforms, and visit www.vincentalanci.com for more show and guest information. -Have a question for the host or guest?
