Buffalo Football podcast and Patrick asks them a series of questions about the grind of producing Buffalo Bills video/audio content at a clip unmatched on the market today as well as the chemistry and personal relationship Matt and Ryan have developed since the podcast launched roughly a year and a half ago.Of course there’s plenty of Bills talk to be had. The guys talk about being mentally exhausted with discussing Covid, the promise Matt Tribusky has shown as Josh Allen’s insurance policy, the meteoric difference in the Bills pass rush this summer compared to last year and if the Bills will end up keeping seven defensive ends, cornerback being a potential area of concern for Ryan, Matt thinking Tremaine Edmunds is in line to have a monster season and so much more.Make sure to follow Ryan on Twitter @RyanTalbotBills and Matt at @MattParrino. Ep 360Bills Talk, Stadium Threats & Best Hair Bands
EIt’s Casual Friday on Talking Buffalo Podcast, which means Patrick Moran is joined by sports writer and media personality Joe Yerdon to talk about a variety of topics, including Bills, Sabres and a “Starting Five’ draft of best Hair Bands. There’s no panic in regards to reported Buffalo Bills new stadium talks between Pegula Sports Enterprise and government, but it’s now undeniable that hints are being dropped that a new stadium will get built whether it’s in Western New York or elsewhere. The guys have plenty opinions on the topic. They also discuss Dion Dawkins’ candid press conference about him recently having Covid-19.Associated Press writer John Wawrow had an interesting tweet recently comparing contrast between Josh Allen with Jack Eichel and teammates willingness to follow them. Patrick and Joe both have takes on that as well as a Jack Eichel emoji tweet that’s raising eyebrows. They also draft a roster of five of their greatest hair bands of all-time before putting it to a vote on Twitter over the weekend as well as rehash Joe’s lopsided victory in the Billy Joel songs draft last week. Patrick also shares some personal news and much more.Follow Joe on Twitter @JoeYerdon. ♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 359Butch Rolle, Former Buffalo Bills TE
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast Patrick Moran is joined by former Buffalo Bills tight end Butch Rolle for a fascinating conversation spanning Butch's life and career as well as his charitable foundation that has a bowling event going on in West Seneca this weekend.A former seventh-round draft of the Bills out of Michigan State in 1986, Rolle became famous in Buffalo and around the NFL as the guy who "all he does is catch touchdowns." Rolle once caught 14 consecutive passes for touchdowns. Butch describes growing up in Florida, never playing organized football until 10th grade but still becoming a big-time recruit, why he decided to attend Michigan State for college, what it was like being drafted by Buffalo---a team that stunk in 1986, the process of the team growing into a contender and much more. They also end with a TBP Fun Fact Finale, where we learned a ton of cool tidbits about Butch including the toughest teammate he ever went against, his favorite non-Bills player in football and who was better between Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith. For more information on how you can be part of the Butch Rolle Foundation Annual Charity Bowling Event on August 21st, visit ButchRolleFoundation.org. Ep 357Joe Miller Talks Bills Camp Observations
EOn the episode of the future award-winning Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran has a conversation with Joe Miller, host of the Overreaction Sports Podcast and co-host of the Hump Day Hotline on a variety of topics focused on observations from Buffalo Bills training camp so far.Pat and Joe attended last Saturday’s Bills open practice and sat together, noticing several things going on with the team. That coupled with daily reports from some of the team’s credible beat reporters sets up several points of conversation, including Patrick considering Isaiah McKenzie a lock to make the roster while Isaiah Hodgins and Jake Kumerow are likely fighting for one receiver spot. They also discuss Cody Ford being anything but a lock to be a starter on the offensive line, a legit RB3 battle brewing between Matt Brieda and Antonio Williams, Mario Addison perhaps in a little danger on the defensive line, Justin Zimmer looking really good, Patrick thinking the Bills are still going to trade for Zack Ertz and plenty more.Of course, they also have a conversation about Josh Allen following the six-year extension that will see him collect $150 million just in guarantees. While deserved, the guys talk about how it’s not just a victory for Josh Allen but the entire organization’s ability to develop a franchise quarterback.Pat and Joe also discuss appearing together along with John Fina last Friday on the Rockpile Report at O’Neill’s Stadium Inn and how cool it was meeting a bunch of Bills fans. That and much more.Follow Joe on Twitter @JoeMillerWired and be sure to check out his Overreaction Sports Podcast, available on all major podcasting platforms.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 1Casual Friday: Bills, Sabres, Wings & Favorite Months
EIt’s Casual Friday on Talking Buffalo Podcast and Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Joe Yerdon to discuss some early developments worth noting at Buffalo Bills training camp, Jack Eichel’s frustration at still being a Buffalo Sabres, a “Starting Five” draft of favorite months of the year and much more. The Bills are a few weeks into training camp right now and even before the three-game preseason starts next week there’s a couple of interesting topics to discuss. One of them is the offensive line depth, which is taken a hit with Covid keeping both Dion Dawkins and Ike Boettger away as well as a shoulder injury to Jon Feliciano. The guys talk about concern with that unit, what if anything they’re looking forward to seeing with the preseason and Pat’s natural concern with the Bills being prohibitive AFC east favorites.Meanwhile Eichel has yet to be traded and the guys discuss what the frustration level on Eichel’s side probably is by now and if Kevyn Adams is likely to get what he wants by holding off pulling the trigger on a deal. They also touch on the goaltending situation and Joe has thoughts on if Ukko-Pekka Luukhonen should and will realistically be an option to begin this season as the Sabres primary netminder.Plus, this week’s “Starting Five” consists of favorite months of the year with Joe’s first overall pick having Patrick immediately rattled, a discussion about a few wing places in Western New York, Pat’s attempt at a diet and much more.Follow Joe on Twitter @JoeYerdon.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 355Finer Wings Club: Lance Lysowski (Belt Line Brewery & Kitchen)
EIt’s another edition of the “Finer Wings Club” on Talking Buffalo Podcast and Patrick Moran sits down with Buffalo Sabres beat reporter Lance Lsyowski of The Buffalo News for some wings, beer and a conversation taped at Belt Line Brewery and Kitchen in downtown Buffalo.Neither of the guys has previously been to Belt Line Brewery and suffice to say, both are blown away by the quality of their wings, wings you don’t typically see at a brewery. More specifically, the "all dressed" specialty wing is spectacular, prompting Patrick to call it perhaps one of the five best specialty wings of anywhere in Western New York. The 716 (they describe as Buffalo hot) was very good as well while the Jamaican Jerk grilled was good but not on the same level as its two counterparts.Of course there’s plenty of talk about the Sabres, including Lance’s thoughts on Jack Eichel on his leadership and his on-ice ability. They also talk about the revamped defense, the shocking way the goaltending situation plays out, who he thinks assumes leadership roles in the locker room, a few guys he expects to step up this season and a prediction on who the leading scorer will be.They also spend time talking about Lance’s ongoing adjustment to being a Buffalonian, what he anticipates happening with how reporters cover the NHL this season with ongoing Covid protocols and much more. Make sure you follow Lance on Twitter @Llysowski.If you want some really (really) good wings, a solid selection of craft beers and some relaxing feel-good vibes, then most definitely make your way over the Belt Line Brewery & Kitchen, located at 545 Swan Street near downtown Buffalo♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran has a conversation with J Spence The King, host of Code of Conduct podcast and co-host of Hump Day Hotline on the Buffalo Rumblings podcasting network about a variety of topics spanning podcasting, life and of course plenty of Buffalo Bills talk. The guys talk about J Spence growing up in Western New York, what took him out to the west coast, how he got into podcasting, the process that goes into his shows and how he wound up working with Buffalo Rumblings. The conversation ultimately focuses on the Bills and the guys discuss several things, including news about the Pegula’s proposed new stadium in Orchard Park that’s causing plenty of immediate pushback as well as some players that look good very early on in Bills training camp, being at least a little apprehensive over being regarded as prohibitive favorites to win the division and contend for the Super Bowl. You can follow J Spence on Twitter @JSpenceTheKing and be sure to check out Code of Conduct and Hump Day Hotline, both on the Buffalo Rumblings podcasting network.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 353Casual Friday: Bills Start, Sabres Stink & Favorite Olympic Sports
EIt’s Casual Friday on Talking Buffalo Podcast and Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Joe Yerdon to discuss the onslaught of moves the Buffalo Sabres have been involved in this week and of course one to this point that hasn't happened as well as reaction to the start of Buffalo Bills training camp, a "Starting Five" draft of favorite Olympic sports and much more.Training camp for the Buffalo Bills started this week and while there’s obviously not much to report about on-field stuff, there’s plenty of stuff to discuss off the field. Joe has thoughts on general manager Brandon Beane’s press conference earlier this week, Cole Beasley’s statement about Covid vaccinations, two Bills offensive lineman missing the start of camp with Covid protocols and more.Of course, it’s the Sabres that’ve made the big sports news in Buffalo of late, trading two star players away but still have Jack Eichel on the roster. Pat and Joe talk about how Jack's injury treatment, some criticism levied at him by a former teammate and how they expect the situation to ultimately be resolved as well as thoughts on Linus Ullmark bolting for Boston. In honor of the Summer Olympics going on in Tokyo, this week’s “Starting Five” has Joe and Pat drafting their favorite Olympics (summer or winter) sports.Plus, Patrick talks about getting out to enjoy more things while the getting is still good in the Buffalo summer and much more. EIt’s another edition of the “Finer Wings Club” on Talking Buffalo Podcast, this time with Patrick Moran being joined by ESPN Buffalo Bills beat reporter Marcel Louis Jacques and WGR 550’s Nate Geary for a podcast taped at Imperial Pizza on Abbott Road in South Buffalo.Part of the fabric of the South Buffalo community for more than a quarter-century, Imperial Pizza is typically best known for their pizza. However, the guys found out their wings are definitely a forced to be reckoned with. They tried three flavors and to say all three were blown away by the Honey Mustard BBQ is an understatement. They also discuss the Loganberry BBQ and Medium wings and the overall feel good vibe of places like Imperial. Marcel goes on to say the Honey Mustard BBQ rival Macy's Place Pizzeria while Nate gives credit for exceptional cooked wings. They also spend time talking about their excitement professionally with Bills training camp starting while acknowledging concerns with Covid. Nate highlights left guard and tight end as positional battles he's looking forward to seeing play out at camp while Marcel talks about how the young defensive ends figure to fit in early. They also have takes on if Josh Allen will get an extension before the regular season start and their feelings about the Bills being prohibitive favorites in the AFC east entering the season for the first time in many (many) years. Make sure you check out Imperial Pizza, located at 1035 Abbott Road in Buffalo.♦♦♦♦♦If you love listening to us here on Talking Buffalo Podcast, what’s stopping you from grabbing a mic and starting your own show? And there’s no better place to host than BLUE WIRE HUSTLEHustle was created to give everyone the opportunity to take your podcast to the next level.OR if you want to host a podcast, and just don’t know where to start: Hustle is the PERFECT place for you.As part of the program, you’ll receive personal cover art, Q & A’s with Bluewire’s top podcasters, access to our community discord, and an E-learning course full of tips and tricks. And on top of that, we’ll help you get your show pushed out to Apple, Spotify, Google, Stitcher, and all other listening platforms. And the best part is, you can get all of this for only $15 a month! Ep 351Buffalo Sabres Trades & Draft Review Show
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, friend and recurring guest Joe Yerdon joins to discuss all things Buffalo Sabres over the past few days, including a review of significant trades as well as the NHL draft that saw the Sabres add to their prospect pool. The fact Rasmus Ristolainen and Sam Reinhart were both trades last Friday wasn’t shocking, but the return on each certainly caught at least some by surprise. Joe has thoughts on Ristolainen going to Philly and Reinhart to Florida as well as the return on each, his feelings about the departing players as well the ones acquired and how he thinks it will affect the organization going forward.Meanwhile, Jack Eichel still remains with Buffalo amid reports that general manager Kevyn Adams is asking too much in return. Joe has some takes on that as well as where he thinks the disgruntled franchise center will ultimately end up.Of course, the draft was this past weekend and Joe also has thoughts on the team taking Owen Power first overall as well as several promising forward prospects. That plus a look into free agency beginning Wednesday, is this team about to start indirectly tanking again and much more. Follow Joe on Twitter @JoeYerdon.♦♦♦♦♦If you love listening to us here on Talking Buffalo Podcast, what’s stopping you from grabbing a mic and starting your own show? Ep 350NFL Covid Bombshell, Sabres Stuff & Best Sports Arena Anthems
EIt’s Casual Friday on Talking Buffalo Podcast and Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Joe Yerdon to discuss the Covid protocol bombshell the NFL dropped this week, Blue Jays ending their run in Buffalo, the Sabres losing Will Borgen with plenty more moves to come, a “Starting Five” draft of sports arena anthems and much more.Without making being fully vaccinated officially mandatory the NFL is essentially doing that, informing teams that there’ll be no game rescheduling because of Covid outbreaks and if a team can’t play they’ll be forced to forfeit along with neither team getting paid. Joe has tons of thoughts on that, which of course will lead to tons of Cole Beasley retirement speculation based on his series of recent tweets. The Sabres lost Will Borgen to Seattle during the expansion draft and Joe has thoughts on that as well as continued rumors on several notable Buffalo trades and of course, the first-round of the NHL draft kicking off tonight. The guys also discuss the Blue Jays time in Buffalo this season (Joe was at the final Toronto ‘home’ game this week) as well as their weekly draft, this time consisting of sports arena anthems. Ep 349Finer Wings Club: Sal Capaccio (Sports City Pizza Pub)
EIt’s another edition of the “Finer Wings Club” on this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, and Patrick Moran is joined by WGR 550 Buffalo Bills beat reporter Sal Capaccio for a discussion about wings, pizza, Buffalo, sports and plenty more taped at Sports City Pizza Pub on the west side.Sal’s the one who first turned Patrick on to Sports City Pizza Pub and Patrick’s blown away by the place, calling it arguably his favorite all-around bar in Western New York. The wings and pizza are amazing, the craft beer menu is beefy and the appearance/vibe of the place feels comfortable and trendy. The guys also spend time taking a trip down memory lane, discussing several places and things of Buffalo from when they were growing up, if their feelings about Buffalo changed after both previously spent several years living in Florida, how Sal deals with internet trolls, a rarely heard story about his father involving music, thoughts on Eric Wood returning to call Bills games, a Buffalo Bills player he's heavily focused on going into training camp and so much more.Make sure you check out Sports City Pizza Pub, whether it’s for the wings, pizza or extensive craft beer menu. Mulberry is known as one of the best overall restaurants Western New York and arguably the very best Italian restaurant. That’s common knowledge. What isn’t known is that serve chicken wings, let alone stunningly good chicken wings! The guys try their “Joe’s Medium”, “Honey BBQ” and the special “Tre White Spicy BBQ” and are absolutely blown away that a place best known for Lasagna and killer meatballs produces wings teetering on an elite level. After filling their bellies with food (also had meatballs) and praise for Mulberry the guys turn their attention to conversation focused on Buffalo, from the community feel of the town to what it’s like leaving for a long period of time, the bonds much of the local sports media has and much more.Of course, they spend some time talking Bills including addressing a potential few concerns going into camp. Ironically, as Patrick’s asking Matt about tight end being a potential concern (It’s not to Matt—for the record) it’s noted that Bills tight end Dawson Knox is actually at the restaurant enjoying a meal just a few yards away. It’s great stuff and this is must-listen episode for fans of the Bills, wings and the Buffalo community.Follow Matt on Twitter @MattParrrino. EIt’s Casual Friday at Talking Buffalo Podcast, which means Patrick Moran is joined by sports writer and friend Joe Yerdon to discuss several topics, including reaction to zoom pressers from Buffalo Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams and new head coach Don Granato as well as other topics and a “Starting Five” draft of Favorite Wrestlers of All-Time.It’s also the last episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast to be taped in Florida before Patrick moves back his hometown of Buffalo later this weekend. He takes a few minutes to discuss some of the details with that as well as feelings towards spending the past five years living in Florida and doing the vast majority of the podcast from there. On the Sabres front, Adams and Granato both spoke to the media on Thursday and next-to-nothing about it was interesting. Joe also has thoughts on a report earlier this week saying the Sabres regard William Eklund as their top-ranked forward in this year's NHL draft class. The guys also talk about Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and some recent rankings involving him around the league as well as worries that come anytime a team pays a guy franchise player money based off one great season. They conclude the episode with the weekly Starting Five, diving into their wrestling fandom to select five of their favorite wrestlers of all-time.All this and much more. Ep 344Joe Yerdon Dishes On Sabres Head Coach Don Granato
EIt’s the final week of Talking Buffalo Podcast episodes being recorded in Florida (maybe forever) and Patrick Moran has his favorite recurring guest, Joe Yerdon slated for both shows. Today the focus is on the Buffalo Sabres formally removing the interim tag from Don Granato and making him the 20th head coach in franchise history and sixth since Terry Pegula bought the team in 2010.Joe has a ton of thoughts on Granato and why he thinks the Sabres made (rare) good move by retaining him with a reported three-year deal. Of course, there’s already wide-spread speculation that Jack Eichel will soon be traded and Joe explains why this move makes that a foregone conclusion. They also talk about if being able to convince Sam Reinhart to want to say is a realistic possibility, what the market may fetch for Rasmus Ristolainen and if he's underappreciated, Joe’s level of confidence in Granato to continue to raise several younger players’ game in this organization and much more, including Patrick being forced to prematurely end the podcast due to noise complaints from his unusual recording location.Follow Joe on Twitter @JoeYerdon.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 343Bills & Sabres Talk, Red Wine Sucks, Plus Best Animated Series Draft With Joe Yerdon

Ep 340Jack Eichel's Perfect Trade Fit, Plus Best Sports Movies
EIt’s Casual Friday at Talking Buffalo Podcast and Patrick Moran is joined by sports writer and friend Joe Yerdon to discuss several topics, including what team he thinks is the perfect trade partner for the Buffalo Sabres to trade Jack Eichel to and why.NHL insider Elliotte Friedman said on his 31 Thoughts podcast this week that people are around the league are telling him to expect the Sabres to end up with two top 10 picks for next month’s NHL draft. With the Sabres already holding the top pick that likely means a team drafting high would be willing to move that selection in a package for potentially Eichel and/or Sam Reinhart. Joe goes in depth with three of those possible teams drafting high, including one picking in the top five that would likely present the Sabres with the best package back for their likely soon-to-be former captain. They also discuss Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reporting earlier in the week that the New Jersey Devils are definitely interested in Buffalo defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen. The guys also spend some time highlighting a few of their favorite annual Buffalo summer events in the wake of things beginning to open up more as people begin to move on for Covid. Joe sheds light on why he prefers Taste of Buffalo as his summer event of choice while they both agree that Wing Fest is overrated. They then move on to this week’s “Starting Five” draft and the topic is Sports Movies. Patrick won for a fourth consecutive week in last week’s Twitter poll, beating Joe 55%-45% in Fictional Sports Movie characters. Ep 337Sabres Changes Are Coming, Plus Best Fictional Sports Movie Characters
EIt’s Casual Friday at Talking Buffalo Podcast and Patrick Moran is joined by sports writer and friend Joe Yerdon to discuss several topics, including big changes likely coming with the Buffalo Sabres organization this summer and their weekly “Starting Five” draft, this week consisting of the best fictional sports movie characters. It’s possible if not likely the Sabres will ultimately lift the interim tag and promote Don Granato to head coach soon enough, but it’s hardly expected to be the biggest Sabres news coming down the pike this summer. The chances of Jack Eichel remaining with Buffalo appear more bleak than ever, and Joe discusses an article he wrote on it earlier this week and explains why he thinks Eichel’s departure is imminent and it’s time for the organization to make the best out of losing their best player. They also discuss the strong probability of Sam Reinhart being gone and how convincing Reinhart Buffalo’s worth sticking around for would be the best thing Buffalo could accomplish this offseason. This week’s “Starting Five’ consists of fictional sports movie characters, and the guys have a huge talent pool to choose from. Joe tries to break a three-week losing streak that saw Patrick win convincingly with HBO Original Series and Gangster Movies the past few drafts. Spoiler alert--the guys both predict they're gonna killed by critical fans following these selections. All this and much more. EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran has a conversation with Steve Mathes of the Air Raid Hour, part of the Buffalo Fanatics network on a series of topics focused on the Buffalo Bills and weapons on the offensive side of the football. The Bills were rumored to be in the mix for wide receiver Julio Jones over the past few weeks but ultimately the former Atlanta Falcon was traded to the Tennessee Titans. It’s a move that doesn’t surprise either of the guys and they discuss the impact it likely has on the Titans and the rest of the AFC.They also spend time discussing the Bills offense, primarily second-year wide receiver Gabriel Davis before rating how they think Tennessee and other teams stack up in the AFC after Kansas City and Buffalo. Before diving into Julio Jones and football talk they spend some time talking about the Phoenix Suns, the sham of a “boxing’ exhibition between Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul as well as a conversation about the success of the live YouTube shows on the Buffalo Fanatics network, including his own.You can follow Steve on Twitter @JudgeMathes and be sure to check out The Air Raid Hour alongside co-host David Tilton on both Mondays and Thursdays, live on their YouTube channel. ♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. EIt’s Casual Friday at Talking Buffalo Podcast and Patrick Moran is joined by sports writer and friend Joe Yerdon to discuss several topics, including Joe’s experience being among the first fans to attend a MLB game in Buffalo in 106 years this past week, the Buffalo Sabres winning the NHL draft lottery and their weekly “Starting Five” draft, this week consisting of mobster/gangster movies. The Toronto Blue Jays hosted Miami this Tuesday at Sahlen’s Field in downtown Buffalo. Joe breaks down what it was like to be in attendance at the ballpark in terms of Covid protocols, vaccinated versus non-vaccinated season and the overall vibe from the crowd witnessing their first taste of regular season MLB baseball in Buffalo. The guys also talk about the Sabres winning the lottery and if Joe’s leaning Owen Power or Matt Beniers with the first pick as well as discussion about plummeting Sabres TV ratings and what they can do to change that. From there they draft their “Starting Five” among mobster/gangster movies. After no surprises among the first three selections (Godfather 2, Godfather 1, Goodfellas) the selections get more unpredictable, with each guy taken at least one non-Italian mob movie as one of their five picks. All this and much more. McDermott said he has been fully vaccinated as has Brandon Beane and the Pegula’s and made it clear he wants his players to be as well. However, Cole Beasley was very vocal about not getting Covid shots on Twitter a few weeks ago and there’s plenty of other hints that this is a divided issue among players. Joe offers his thoughts on this and if he thinks it could become a potential distraction this summer and possibly even until the regular season. They also touch on the Buffalo Sabres and the latest involving Don Granato and other potential head coaching candidates. Ep 332Playing Devil's Advocate With The Bills
EOn this episode of the future-award winning Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran has a chat with friend and recurring guest Joe from Queens on a variety of topics highlighted by a discussion that intentionally plays devil’s advocate to the Buffalo Bills Super Bowl chances this coming season. The Bills went 13-3 last year, made the AFC championship game and by nearly all accounts are among the strongest favorites to represent the conference in the Super Bowl. However, whether fans like it or not there’s reasons that provide skepticism to the 2021 Bills and the guys dive into some worrisome items. Among them are questions on how much the offensive line, running backs and tight ends will improve given it’s essentially the same cast of characters returning, as well as questions about the short term pass rush and being seemingly poised to run it back with Levi Wallace at cornerback alongside Tre White. They also spend some time talking about fans once again making their presence felt at sporting events, examining whether Rueben Brown or Eric Moulds are more worthy of going into the Bills Wall of Fame and Joe has a take on Buffalo Bills/Sabres owners Terry and Kim Pegula. All that and much more. EIt’s Casual Friday at Talking Buffalo Podcast and Patrick Moran is joined by sports writer Joe Yerdon to discuss several topics, including Patrick’s big dilemma over staying in Florida or moving back to Buffalo, if Buffalo could ever properly support a NBA or MLB franchise as well as their “Starting Five” draft of TV Show Theme Songs. After spending the past five years in Florida, Patrick’s at the point where he could move back to his hometown of Buffalo. It’s something he’s wanted to do for the past few years but in recent months he’s come to enjoy much more about Florida and more importantly his wife has built a nice career down in the sunshine state. Patrick forces Joe to play Dr. Joe and spills the details about his dilemma. On the heels of reports that the NBA plans on expanding, the guys have a discussion about if Buffalo could actually be a viable candidate for a franchise. They hit on the differences between fan support versus financial support and if a third major professional sports team could realistically exist in Buffalo. They conclude with this week’s “Starting Five” where the guys spend an unhealthy amount of time drafting their favorite TV Show Theme Songs and mentioning countless other shows that were worthy of making the cut.All this and much more. Ep 327Joe Yerdon Talks Loaded Eichel Presser & More Sabres
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran is joined by recurring guest, friend and sports media personality Joe Yerdon to discuss the Buffalo Sabres 2020-21 season, some of the player season-ending press conferences with the media on Monday and look into how he sees the offseason playing out on the heels of Jack Eichel's fiery presser.Don Granato led the Sabres to a 9-16-3 record in his 28 games as interim head coach after taking over for a fired Ralph Krueger, including a 9-11-2 record following the team’s epic 18-game winless streak. Beyond the wins and losses many of the younger players looked considerably better under Granato, leading several fans and media including Joe to conclude Granato deserves legitimate consideration to become the permanent head coach. Joe discusses why. However, that’s greatly overshadowed by Monday’s fiery Zoom pressers from several players, most notably Eichel who sounded like a franchise center incredibly open if not ready to become a former Sabres center soon. Joe has his thoughts on Eichel’s injuries this season and how the organization’s handling of them has put them in a lose-lose situation with an already frustrated fan base. They also discuss non-committal comments from Sam Reinhart, Rasmus Ristolainen and plenty more. All this and much more. Ep 325Bills Draft Review & Roster Outlook (Part 2)
EOn this episode of the future award-winning Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran is joined by recurring guest and friend Aaron Quinn from the Cover 1 Buffalo podcast in the second of a two part series discussing their Buffalo Bills draft. Today the guys highlight some of their favorite drafts around the league, grade the Bills draft from three years ago in 2018 and dive into a full Buffalo offseason review now that the draft has passed and the team looks to be mostly set going into training camp this summer.Patrick highlights draft classes of six teams around the league that he really enjoyed, including a pair of Buffalo divisional rivals while Aaron throws in a few teams he liked as well. From there they go on assign a draft grade to the 2018 class of three years ago, a class that included Josh Allen, Tremaine Edmunds, Harrison Philips, Taron Johnson and Siran Neal. Not only do both guys agree that it’s an easy “A” but take it one step further---putting it on par, at least early on with two of the Bills best draft classes of all-time.Before calling it a day they take a look at the big picture now that the Bills offseason player movement is mostly over. While admittedly lamenting the Bills not adding a game-changing tight end or end rusher via free agency or trade, both guys credit the team building philosophy of Brandon Beane and agree that it’s the continued development of some of the younger players with room to get better---guys like Ed Oliver, Edmunds, Devin Singletary, Zack Moss, Gabriel Davis and Dawson Knox that’ll ultimately determine if this is a franchise capable of overtaking Kansas City and anyone else as the cream of the AFC crop in 2021.You can follow Aaron on Twitter @AaronQuinn716 and be sure to check out the Cover 1 Buffalo Podcast♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 324Bills Draft Review & Roster Outlook (Part 1)
EOn this episode of the future award-winning Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran is joined by recurring guest and friend Aaron Quinn from the Cover 1 Buffalo podcast in the first of a two part series discussing their Buffalo Bills draft takeaways, biggest winners and losers among the Buffalo veterans on the roster post-draft and the outlook of this team going forward now that the draft has passed. The guys break down each of the eight Bills draft selections and discuss what they liked, and potentially didn’t like about each of the picks. It’s not a surprise Gregory Rousseau ended up being a first-round pick but at least Patrick was surprised Brandon Beane pulled the trigger on him over Jayson Oweh or Joe Tyron. Aaron examines why he considers it a good pick on a long-term basis. Both guys admit borderline shock to Buffalo going back to defensive end in round two with Carlos Basham and especially in round three with offensive tackle Spencer Brown, particularly when a pair of cornerbacks Patrick and Aaron both coveted were available, Elijah Molden and Ifeatur Melifonwu. They agree on liking the upside of all three of the sixth-round picks Buffalo added and also spend time looking back on the six mock drafts they did leading up to the draft, defending the process of mocks and their usefulness even if they don’t result in the players you project going to the team. You can follow Aaron on Twitter @AaronQuinn716and be sure to check out the Cover 1 Buffalo Podcast♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube:Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 323Anthony Marino On Gregory Rousseau & Round 1 of the NFL Draft
EOn this episode of the future-award winning Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran talks with Anthony Marino from Buffalo Rumblings to recap the Bills selection of Miami defensive end Gregory Rousseau in round one of the NFL draft as well as a discussion on some of the biggest moments from Thursday night’s first round. As it turned out just two defensive ends were off the board (Jaelan Phillips and Kwity Paye) when the Bills went on the clock with the 30th pick, leaving them to choose between Rousseau and other prospects like Jayson Oweh, Azeez Ojulari and Joe Tyron. Brandon Beane ultimately went with Rosseau and the guys give their kneejerk reaction to the pick, as this podcast was taped less than a hour after the selection was made. Both guys conclude the pick was underwhelming but practical and offer a few suggestions on who they wish the Bills would’ve targeted with the selection. They also take a look at how the AFC East played out in round one Thursday night, including Mac Jones falling to the New England Patriots at pick No. 25 while the Jets and Dolphins each grabbed two first-rounders.Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino and check out Buffalo Rumblings for all the latest Bills news and commentary as well as full NFL draft coverage.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 322BONUS: 10 Most Likely Bills Draft Prospects
ETonight starts the 2021 NFL Draft and on this bonus episode of the future award-winning Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran runs down a list of the 10 most likely and realistic candidates to be selected by the Buffalo Bills with their first pick.Four cornerbacks lead the way, with three defensive ends and one each of the running interior offensive and defensive line positions. However, it’s a running back, Travis Etienne that tops the list---a guy Patrick’s been high on for Buffalo since the beginning of the process. He explains not just why Etienne’s talent is deserving of being the first pick, but why he thinks it’s the perfect football fit and why he thinks it’s completely realistic if not likely to actually happen. He also spends some time explaining things he’s learned while doing his six weekly Bills mock draft with Aaron Quinn from Cover 1, including the realization that defensive edge should probably be punted for 2021 if not addressed early, round two being an excellent round to go cornerback hunting and safety being a potential sneaky need in the third. He also lists some Bills related questions that should be answered over the next 72 hours and ends with a handful of NFL draft predictions, including a trade that ultimately nets Zach Ertz to Buffalo.Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube:Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. EOn this bonus episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran welcomes friend and recurring guest Aaron Quinn (Cover 1) for the sixth and final Buffalo Bills mock published every Wednesday leading up to the actual NFL draft that begins April 29.Before embarking on the final mock of the series, the guys spend some time trying to come to conclusions and patterns they’ve longed about the previous five editions. Patrick realizes that to get a guy he really wants the Bills can’t hope it falls in their laps at 30, while Aaron spends considerable time talking about defensive edge and cornerback. The mock begins and they examine trading up seven or eight spots into the early 20’s but roll the dice and decide not to. The gamble, at least for their wants pays off as the Bills are left with an unexpected choice of two running backs they really like. Ultimately they land on Travis Etienne in large part because he’s the bigger home run threat and love what Brian Dabol can potentially do with him.The Bills stand pat in the second and third rounds as well, left with a decision between two corners they really like Elijah Molden and Ifeatu Melifonwu in the second before taking the same third round safety as they did last week. The lone Bills trade of the draft happens soon after, when Aaron trades both Bills picks in the 5th round as well as a late 2022 pick to move into Las Vegas’ spot in round four (122 overall) to select a developmental defensive tackle to potentially take over for Star Lotulelei in due time. They finish off the draft with a cornerback/special teams star in the sixth and a familiar wide receiver in the seventh before going over the Bills current roster draft winners and losers and a few bold predictions for this week’s NFL draft around the league. Ep 317BONUS: Buffalo Bills Mock Draft (Version 5.0)
EOn this bonus episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran welcomes friend and recurring guest Aaron Quinn (Cover 1) for the fifth of six weekly Buffalo Bills mock draft podcast episodes every Wednesday leading up to the actual NFL draft that begins April 29.Before embarking on their second-to-last Bills mock draft, the guys spend a handful of minutes figuring out if a defensive end they like could fall to Buffalo at No. 30 as well as digest some of Brandon Beane’s comments from his pre-draft presser on Tuesday. Aaron also speaks on confidence in the organization that’s resulted in him having a peace of mind going into the draft and not stressed over what the Bills may do with their selections. When the bullets start firing in the real-time simulated mock the guys take an advantage to trade up in both the first and second round, landing themselves a defensive end they’ve tried unsuccessfully to land in the first four mocks by moving up three spots with Baltimore and then having a lightning rod player fall far enough into the second to go up eight spots to Tennessee and get him. They end up with just two more picks: a developmental safety in the third and some potential wide receiver depth in the sixth. Before signing off Aaron throws props to fellow Talking Buffalo Podcast contributor Joe From Queens on his recent (and eventful) engagement. Ep 314BONUS: Buffalo Bills Mock Draft (Version 4.0)
EOn this bonus episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran welcomes friend and recurring guest Aaron Quinn (Cover 1) for the fourth of six weekly Buffalo Bills mock draft podcast episodes every Wednesday leading up to the actual NFL draft that begins April 29. This mock ultimately featured not one but two Buffalo Bills trade ups. Before getting to the latest draft the guys spend a few minutes discussing what they learned from the previous three, with Patrick pointing out that getting an edge defender who you can count on being a strong contributor as a rookie isn’t going to be on the board at 30 and trading up would be a requirement. They also go over some realistic trade up scenarios in regards to what the cost would potentially be.This draft begins and the guys land on pick No. 25 (Jacksonville) as a good trade up spot to target an edge they both like. However, Jacksonville rejects the offer and they’re “stuck” with the Bills keeping their pick at 30, leading to a guy ranked higher but who slipped due to injury concerns, Caleb Farley. They do move up in round two, jumping up 14 spots to the Chargers pick to take an offensive lineman that Aaron considers a first-round talent. They pick the same defensive tackle (Tyler Shelvin) in the third round for the third time in four mocks. They move up in the fifth round again, surrendering their seventh-rounder to move up five spots for a small school defensive end and wrap up with a sixth-rounder, a wide receiver from Clemson (Cornell Powell) they’ve taken previously. This is a fun and informative exercise that’s teaching the guys a lot about the process and prospects that fit in certain situations. Ep 311BONUS: Buffalo Bills Mock Draft (Version 3.0)
EOn this bonus episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran welcomes friend and recurring guest Aaron Quinn (Cover 1) for the third of six weekly Buffalo Bills mock draft podcast episodes every Wednesday leading up to the actual NFL draft that begins April 29. Unlike the first two versions, this Bills mock permits trades. As always, the computer simulates the other 31 teams and Aaron makes each Buffalo selection in real time. Prior to making the selections the guys reflect on the first two Bills mocks and what they liked and didn't like about how things played out. They also examine two positions, cornerback and defensive end that the Bills arguably have a high draft need for and how those positions have little to consensus at this point. For the first time, Patrick also brings up the possibility of selecting a wide receiver early in the draft, something he's balked at even discussing in previous mocks. To say the draft board doesn't play out the way the guys hoped in round one is an understatement, leading them to select a guy neither is initially happy with. They then move up into the second round for a defensive lineman and find a guy in the third they think could challenge for a starting spot on the offensive line. You can follow Aaron on Twitter @AaronQuinn716and be sure to check out the Cover 1 Buffalo Podcast♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube:Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel ♦♦♦♦♦SPECIAL OFFER FOR LISTENERS: Get 30% off anything you order at 80’s Tees, home of the best collection of 80’s and other nostalgia themed shirts you’ll find anywhere.
