They talk about some of the mistakes Brandon Beane has made with the unit over the past few seasons and the shock that a third-round rookie not even expected to play his first year is suddenly a critical clog on the line. The wheels are starting to fall off the Sabres season already, at least in the win/loss column. Ep 386Are The Buffalo Bills Legitimately In Trouble?

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Joe From Queens to discuss several Buffalo Bills topics, most notably examining if this team is legitimately in trouble after an embarrassing loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars this past weekend.Among things discussed is the Bills offensive line that has been mediocre all season coupled with injuries had looking like a turnstile against a Jacksonville defense that shockingly dominated them. How does Sean McDermott possibly play Cody Ford again after this game? We’re at the point where the return of third-round rookie Spencer Brown this week feels critical.Perhaps not as critical is the Bills non-existent running game. The guys talk about the lack of a running game as well as Stefon Diggs not being a bigger focal point of this offense the way he was last season. That plus Josh Allen being forced to resort to 2018-19 hero ball, another dominant defensive effort wasted, Joe's take on Jack Eichel getting traded and much more.Follow Joe on Twitter @Buffalowins ♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran is joined by Aaron Quinn of Cover 1 to discuss several topics including takeaways from the Buffalo Bills victory over Miami last weekend, O.J. Simpson being sensationalized while back in Buffalo, if Christmas season begins too early every year and much more.It certainly wasn’t pretty at least not in the first half, but the Bills improved to 5-2 with a 15 point victory over the Dolphins. The guys discuss the offense’s slow start, Josh Allen’s swag rubbing enemy fans the wrong way, the defense continuing their trend of feasting on mediocre quarterbacking and a few unsung heroes form this game. Also, O.J. Simpson was in Buffalo over the past several days and it caused quite a stir. Simpson tailgated with fans on Sunday before watching the game from a suite and there were fans lined up to get their photos taken with an accused murderer. E

On the episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, it’s the first of a two part conversation as Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens with today’s focus on 10 early season Buffalo Bills takeaways following their first three games.Sunday’s victory over Washington was the game Bills fans and media with high expectations for them have been waiting for this season. The Bills dominated on both sides of the ball and the guys talk extensively about that, including Josh Allen returning to MVP form, Emanuel Sanders playing like a No. 1 receiver, Dawson Knox getting redemption and both Dion Dawkins and Darryl Williams bouncing back from early season struggles. On the defensive side the guys discuss Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer being so good it’s almost taken for granted when it comes to this defense. Also, the conversation gets spirited (to say the least) when the topic turns to Tremaine Edmunds. That plus Patrick’s concerned about special teams while Joe isn’t and the team that beat Buffalo (Pittsburgh) is quickly being exposed as fraudulent. That and much more. Ep 372Adams is Crazy, Milano's A Stud & Best MCU Characters

E

It’s Casual Friday on Talking Buffalo Podcast presented by Casey’s Black Rock, which means Patrick Moran is joined by sports writer and media personality Joe Yerdon to talk about a variety of topics, including the Buffalo Sabres opening up training camp with a baffling press conference by GM Kevyn Adams, Rasmus Dahlin not signing a long-term deal, Buffalo Bills linebacker Matt Milano becoming one of the best linebackers in the NFL, the significance of the Bills winning their next two home games, a “Starting Five” draft of Marvel Comics Universe (MCU) Movie Characters and much more.Adams spoke to the media on Thursday and publicly stripped injured/disgruntled Sabres franchise center Jack Eichel of the team’s captaincy. The guys are in agreement that doing so in the manner it was done was completely idiotic and likely further distanced them from a fan base already long frustrated and angry. They also discuss why Dahlin was smart to only sign a three-year bridge deal with the organization and examine if Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has a legitimate chance to win the Sabres starting goaltender job right out of training camp and the preseason. They also talk some football and Patrick has concluded Milano is not only one of the better outside linebackers in the NFL but goes as far to say Milano’s the second-best player on the Bills right now After Josh Allen. Speaking of, the guys discuss Josh’s slow start and if they’re at all worried about it while looking forward to what could be a good game against a stout Washington defense on Sunday. This week’s “Starting Five” features Best MCU movie characters. Patrick’s on his first winning stream since the two first started weekly drafts four months ago. Can he get to a three-week winning streak? Epensea demonstrating why it’s foolish to ever give up on a player after just one season and Gregory Rosseau, who’s quickly looking like a first-round rookie draft steal for Buffalo.Of course when the offense scores five touchdowns they deserve some air time as well. The guys spend time talking about the Bills improving running game as both Devin Singletary and Zack Moss had a significant impact on the game. They also discuss Josh Allen’s relatively slow start, at least compared to last season’s MVP caliber run.All that and much more. Ep 369Let's Not Underreact To The Bills Opening Loss Either

E

On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, the Buffalo Bills began the 2021 NFL season victims of an upset loss at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Patrick Moran is joined by recurring guest Joe From Queens (@BuffaloWins) and discuss that while the sky certainly isn’t falling, we don’t need to be underreacting to Sunday’s ugly start to the season either. The guys discuss a Bills offense that on this day was often physically manhandled by a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that defended every yard of the field. In particular the offensive line struggled against a Pittsburgh front four that constantly bothered Josh Allen without having to blitz. They also discuss how much that affected Allen and why he didn’t play better, in fact often look like the 2019 version of himself as opposed to the 2020 NFL MVP runner up we saw last year. They also talk about a Buffalo defense that dominated the first half but then faded late, special teams ultimately deciding the game, what the hell offensive coordinator Brian Daboll was thinking on Sunday, a look ahead to what becomes a pretty important Week two divisional matchup in Miami, thoughts on the Bills/Sabres new vaccination policy and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. That coupled with daily reports from some of the team’s credible beat reporters sets up several points of conversation, including Patrick considering Isaiah McKenzie a lock to make the roster while Isaiah Hodgins and Jake Kumerow are likely fighting for one receiver spot. They also discuss Cody Ford being anything but a lock to be a starter on the offensive line, a legit RB3 battle brewing between Matt Brieda and Antonio Williams, Mario Addison perhaps in a little danger on the defensive line, Justin Zimmer looking really good, Patrick thinking the Bills are still going to trade for Zack Ertz and plenty more.Of course, they also have a conversation about Josh Allen following the six-year extension that will see him collect $150 million just in guarantees. One of them is the offensive line depth, which is taken a hit with Covid keeping both Dion Dawkins and Ike Boettger away as well as a shoulder injury to Jon Feliciano. The guys talk about concern with that unit, what if anything they’re looking forward to seeing with the preseason and Pat’s natural concern with the Bills being prohibitive AFC east favorites.Meanwhile Eichel has yet to be traded and the guys discuss what the frustration level on Eichel’s side probably is by now and if Kevyn Adams is likely to get what he wants by holding off pulling the trigger on a deal. They also touch on the goaltending situation and Joe has thoughts on if Ukko-Pekka Luukhonen should and will realistically be an option to begin this season as the Sabres primary netminder.Plus, this week’s “Starting Five” consists of favorite months of the year with Joe’s first overall pick having Patrick immediately rattled, a discussion about a few wing places in Western New York, Pat’s attempt at a diet and much more.Follow Joe on Twitter @JoeYerdon.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. More specifically, the "all dressed" specialty wing is spectacular, prompting Patrick to call it perhaps one of the five best specialty wings of anywhere in Western New York. The 716 (they describe as Buffalo hot) was very good as well while the Jamaican Jerk grilled was good but not on the same level as its two counterparts.Of course there’s plenty of talk about the Sabres, including Lance’s thoughts on Jack Eichel on his leadership and his on-ice ability. They also talk about the revamped defense, the shocking way the goaltending situation plays out, who he thinks assumes leadership roles in the locker room, a few guys he expects to step up this season and a prediction on who the leading scorer will be.They also spend time talking about Lance’s ongoing adjustment to being a Buffalonian, what he anticipates happening with how reporters cover the NHL this season with ongoing Covid protocols and much more. On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, friend and recurring guest Joe Yerdon joins to discuss all things Buffalo Sabres over the past few days, including a review of significant trades as well as the NHL draft that saw the Sabres add to their prospect pool. The fact Rasmus Ristolainen and Sam Reinhart were both trades last Friday wasn’t shocking, but the return on each certainly caught at least some by surprise. Joe has thoughts on Ristolainen going to Philly and Reinhart to Florida as well as the return on each, his feelings about the departing players as well the ones acquired and how he thinks it will affect the organization going forward.Meanwhile, Jack Eichel still remains with Buffalo amid reports that general manager Kevyn Adams is asking too much in return. Joe has some takes on that as well as where he thinks the disgruntled franchise center will ultimately end up.Of course, the draft was this past weekend and Joe also has thoughts on the team taking Owen Power first overall as well as several promising forward prospects. That plus a look into free agency beginning Wednesday, is this team about to start indirectly tanking again and much more. Ep 350NFL Covid Bombshell, Sabres Stuff & Best Sports Arena Anthems

E

It’s Casual Friday on Talking Buffalo Podcast and Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Joe Yerdon to discuss the Covid protocol bombshell the NFL dropped this week, Blue Jays ending their run in Buffalo, the Sabres losing Will Borgen with plenty more moves to come, a “Starting Five” draft of sports arena anthems and much more.Without making being fully vaccinated officially mandatory the NFL is essentially doing that, informing teams that there’ll be no game rescheduling because of Covid outbreaks and if a team can’t play they’ll be forced to forfeit along with neither team getting paid. Joe has tons of thoughts on that, which of course will lead to tons of Cole Beasley retirement speculation based on his series of recent tweets. The Sabres lost Will Borgen to Seattle during the expansion draft and Joe has thoughts on that as well as continued rumors on several notable Buffalo trades and of course, the first-round of the NHL draft kicking off tonight. The guys also discuss the Blue Jays time in Buffalo this season (Joe was at the final Toronto ‘home’ game this week) as well as their weekly draft, this time consisting of sports arena anthems. Can Joe extend his winning streak to five? All this and much more. Ep 349Finer Wings Club: Sal Capaccio (Sports City Pizza Pub)

E

It’s another edition of the “Finer Wings Club” on this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, and Patrick Moran is joined by WGR 550 Buffalo Bills beat reporter Sal Capaccio for a discussion about wings, pizza, Buffalo, sports and plenty more taped at Sports City Pizza Pub on the west side.Sal’s the one who first turned Patrick on to Sports City Pizza Pub and Patrick’s blown away by the place, calling it arguably his favorite all-around bar in Western New York. The wings and pizza are amazing, the craft beer menu is beefy and the appearance/vibe of the place feels comfortable and trendy. The guys also spend time taking a trip down memory lane, discussing several places and things of Buffalo from when they were growing up, if their feelings about Buffalo changed after both previously spent several years living in Florida, how Sal deals with internet trolls, a rarely heard story about his father involving music, thoughts on Eric Wood returning to call Bills games, a Buffalo Bills player he's heavily focused on going into training camp and so much more.Make sure you check out Sports City Pizza Pub, whether it’s for the wings, pizza or extensive craft beer menu. This place is the truth!♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. E

It’s the debut edition of the “Finer Wings Club” on this bonus episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, and Patrick is joined by Matt Parrino, Buffalo Bills beat reporter for NYup.com and Nate Geary, sports talk radio host at WGR 550 for a conversation on several topics, taped at Mulberry Italian Ristorante in Lackawanna. Each week or at least most weeks Talking Buffalo Podcast will produce a Finer Wings Club episode, where Patrick has wings at different bars with a rotating panel of guests. Mulberry is known as one of the best overall restaurants Western New York and arguably the very best Italian restaurant. That’s common knowledge. What isn’t known is that serve chicken wings, let alone stunningly good chicken wings! The guys try their “Joe’s Medium”, “Honey BBQ” and the special “Tre White Spicy BBQ” and are absolutely blown away that a place best known for Lasagna and killer meatballs produces wings teetering on an elite level. After filling their bellies with food (also had meatballs) and praise for Mulberry the guys turn their attention to conversation focused on Buffalo, from the community feel of the town to what it’s like leaving for a long period of time, the bonds much of the local sports media has and much more.Of course, they spend some time talking Bills including addressing a potential few concerns going into camp. Ironically, as Patrick’s asking Matt about tight end being a potential concern (It’s not to Matt—for the record) it’s noted that Bills tight end Dawson Knox is actually at the restaurant enjoying a meal just a few yards away. It’s great stuff and this is must-listen episode for fans of the Bills, wings and the Buffalo community.Follow Matt on Twitter @MattParrrino. Follow Nate on Twitter @NateGearySports.Make sure you check out Mulberry, whether it’s for the wings or the extensive menu. Holy s**t their food is amazing. Ep 344Joe Yerdon Dishes On Sabres Head Coach Don Granato

E

It’s the final week of Talking Buffalo Podcast episodes being recorded in Florida (maybe forever) and Patrick Moran has his favorite recurring guest, Joe Yerdon slated for both shows. Today the focus is on the Buffalo Sabres formally removing the interim tag from Don Granato and making him the 20th head coach in franchise history and sixth since Terry Pegula bought the team in 2010.Joe has a ton of thoughts on Granato and why he thinks the Sabres made (rare) good move by retaining him with a reported three-year deal. Of course, there’s already wide-spread speculation that Jack Eichel will soon be traded and Joe explains why this move makes that a foregone conclusion. They also talk about if being able to convince Sam Reinhart to want to say is a realistic possibility, what the market may fetch for Rasmus Ristolainen and if he's underappreciated, Joe’s level of confidence in Granato to continue to raise several younger players’ game in this organization and much more, including Patrick being forced to prematurely end the podcast due to noise complaints from his unusual recording location.Follow Joe on Twitter @JoeYerdon.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices.
