Ep 94360 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: What Happened When I Stepped Off the LinkedIn Platform?

Hello to you listening in Koh Yao Noi, Thailand!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane WyzgaOn Monday the 18th of September I stepped off the LinkedIn platform. Why? Each year at this time I revisit my Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. 5 weeks. 500 miles. Across Spain. This year I want to truly honor my pilgrimage by taking a break from devices and platforms as much as I can, including LinkedIn.I plan to use my time for 5 R’s: Reconsider, Reconfigure, Restore, Refresh, Renew and walking a great deal. While it’s unlikely I’ll match my Camino mileage I’d like to log 50 miles a week between now and November 1st.Question: What will happen in the meantime? I have no idea. Maybe folks will forget me, my connections will shrivel, my presence will evaporate ...... or not.My friend and colleague Jeffrey Tan (Pathfinder / Leadership Mastery Facilitator / Coach) had this to say to me: "In this day and age, it takes great courage and control to stay away from the devices and platforms, but break away we must or remain enslaved by them we will. Take your Rs and see you again... Auf wiedersehen.”Practical Tip: Whatever it is you are contemplating step out, step off, step to it! “The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.” [Amelia Earhart]You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe, share a 5-star rating + nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out What I Offer,✓ Arrange your free Story Start-up Session,✓ Opt In to my monthly NewsAudioLetter for bonus gift, valuable tips & techniques to enhance your story work, and✓ Stay current with Diane on LinkedIn.Stories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. Ep 94260 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: When Has a Friend Moved You Out of Doubt and Into Action?

Hello to you listening in Chişinău, Capital of Eastern Europe’s Republic of Moldova!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. As the plane began its descent into Madrid, Spain I had made up my mind that I could not, should not, would not walk the Camino de Santiago. I was no pilgrim. I would pick up my pack and catch the next flight. I was going home. What changed? I opened a card from my friend Lorraine that slipped out from between the pages of the guide book I was holding. The card read, “WELL DONE!”Her words continued: As you read this thousands of feet above the earth (how could she have known that?) you may be wondering why I gave you a “WELL DONE!” card to start your Camino de Santiago journey. Regardless of what does or doesn’t happen from here on out, you will be forever changed simply because you showed up. And that, my friend, is “WELL DONE!” You have been given so much and have shared that so freely with others. All that you’ve courageously and deliberately laid down and walked away from in the last few years has led to today so that you are free to pick up whatever lies before you. So, in a word - or two - “WELL DONE!”And the rest, as they say, was Buen Camino. Story Prompt: When has a friend’s “Well Done!” moved you out of doubt and into right action? Write that story!Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. All that matters is you have a story. You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe, share a 5-star rating + nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out What I Offer,✓ Arrange your free Story Start-up Session,✓ Opt In to my monthly NewsAudioLetter for bonus gift, valuable tips & techniques to enhance your story work, and✓ Stay current with Diane on LinkedIn.Stories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. Ep 94160 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: How Did You Get Here and Where Did You Come From?

Hello to you listening in San Jose, Capital of Costa Rica!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Did you ever wonder: How did I get here? Where did I come from? How did I get started? You can’t really imagine your own beginnings any more than you can imagine your parents beginning them. Think about it: how do you begin to imagine all that went before - the end result of which is you? All you know - all you can ever really know - is that this was, something changed, and that is. Your world began. All along the timeline of your life you’ve come from where you were; but *how* is often more puzzle than open road.I like that some stories leave out details because you have to go look for them and that is always another story.Question: How did you get here? Where did you come from? What got you started? How do you know you’ve arrived? Ep 94060 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: What’s the Origin Story for Stories From Women Who Walk?

Hello to you listening in Kuwait City, the State of Kuwait!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.Once upon a time I invested in a podcasting workshop without forethought or preparation. Out of the gate I was asked what’s the title, who’s it for, what’s it for, what do you intend?Gulp! I know stories. I’m a woman. I walk. That’s it. Stories From Women Who Walk. As simple as that. The familiar cover art is an early morning selfie taken as I walked away from Orisson, France toward the Pyrenees Mountains into Spain setting out on my Camino pilgrimage.Whether I’m interviewing a guest, shining a spotlight on the achievements of women foremost, or offering a daily menu of 60 Seconds episodes, my podcast is uniquely forward-looking and story-based for anyone charmed by and curious about the power of story to profoundly and positively shift our awareness, our behavior, even our culture as well as those who wish to learn more about the power of walking to reveal the world around us and within us. Like magic, the “sorcery of stories” is this: it helps each of us to be seen and heard, to understand and be understood.Question: Why just an audio podcast? Because the human voice is the most powerful instrument we have to heal, inspire, comfort, entertain, and more. It’s the reason that Big Humans and Little Humans long to hear the same stories retold, bedtime stories, family stories, campfire stories. The human voice transports, keeps us company, and reminds us we are never alone.CTA: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Take a moment to follow, subscribe, share, add a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! You will have wonderful company as we continue to walk our lives together. Ep 93960 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: What If You Had Nothing to Do But Walk?

Hello to you listening in Accra, Capital of Ghana, Africa!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga. Now that I am revisiting the anniversary of my Camino de Santiago pilgrimage as I do every year at this time I’m reminded of the most difficult lesson. Letting go. Letting go of the way I was. Letting go of my old self. Giving myself over to the walking. It wasn’t easy! Get up in the dark, pack in the dark, head out in the dark. Walk 15 or 20 miles a day, no matter how cold or hot or wet. No matter how rocky or lonesome or tired. Nothing prepares you for walking Camino but to walk Camino. How do you do it? Here’s a tip: surrender. Give yourself over. You are here now. Make the most of this experience. When you want to stomp around and make furious gestures, make the most of that. Make the most of your joys and complaints. Give voice to them all.And then give yourself back to the only job you have: to walk. Every day since then my Camino lesson shows up like this: “Just walk it off, Diane!”Question: What single-minded purpose of yours guides you along your way? Ep 93860 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: Ready or Not It’s Time to Walk Into Your Unscripted Day

Hello to you listening in Roncesvalles, Kingdom of Navarre, Spain! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. It took me 48 hours of traveling to arrive at my Camino de Santiago departure point. A flight from California to New Jersey and on to Madrid, Spain, a bus across Madrid to the train station for the trip to Pamplona, a taxi to the overnight albergue, another bus trip across the border and on into St. Jean Pied de Port, France, for a final overnight on the cusp of the Camino. As I set out that chill September morning I felt exhausted, uncertain, anxious, even intimidated by the unknowns ahead, and a bit courageous none the less. They say the only way to know Camino is to walk Camino. Ready or not I’m a pilgrim. Better get on with it. I laced up my boots, shouldered my pack, zipped my rain jacket, and headed up the first of many hills into the rain for whatever came next.Question: You might think you know what happens next; but it’s most likely going to be an unscripted day. What are you ready to walk into? Ep 93760 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: When Has Someone Helped You Travel Through the Valley of Death?

Hello to you listening in Brus, Serbia!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane WyzgaBe very careful what you ask for. Some years ago I asked for a clean slate. I got it. In the space of 9 months I lost my mom, my marriage and my law firm position. That experience was enough to snap me like a dried twig. And I stayed that way for a good long while. What changed? A friend of a friend heard that I was a storyteller. She needed a keynote speaker. We met for lunch. I felt I didn’t have it in me to be the keynoter she wanted. She saw something different. Here’s what she told me: “I understand that you’ve been walking around in the Valley of Death; but that stops now. Scripture says we are supposed to walk through the Valley of Death. Scripture says nothing about building a brick house, adding a little picket fence and a garden. Starting now you are walking through. I’ll meet you on the other side.” And the rest really is history.Story Prompt: Think of a time when you felt like you had come to the end of the road seeing no future for yourself; but someone else did and lifted you back up. What happened next? Write that story! Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. Ep 93660 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: What Is Your Art Form?

Hello to you listening in Eldsberga, Sweden!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Soon I’ll have recorded 1,000 podcast episodes. I’ve been asked where I get my ideas. These podcast episodes are actually my art form. My art form is to say things I didn’t know I knew until I speak them aloud in my podcast episodes. Oftentimes I have no clear idea what I want to say or, if I do, how it will come out until I write or speak.I can say this much: this is where I’m getting to know myself. I strive to be as open as I can in a way that will resonate with you, your experiences and, in the process offer stories to inspire, motivate, delight, or guide you on your path. Question: What is your art form? How are you offering your story to inspire, motivate or help another who could use a story guide on the path? Ep 93360 Seconds For Motivate Your Monday: What Might You Get From a Company of Strangers?

Hello to you listening in Dhaka Capital of Bangladesh!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. The other day I was waiting at our local pharmacy with a group of elder folks. To pass the time one woman was regaling us with how she had to learn on site how to pay for admission to a national park using her cell phone because the park did not take cash or credit cards. While she admitted to feeling "empowered" (her word) by having eventually figured out the process on her new Apple smart phone she did allow that earlier times being simpler felt more stable, certain, manageable even.I, too, can remember when times were simpler. They weren’t easier by any means! Just a bit more manageable. I was glad to be in their company.Practical Tip: As you launch your week on this September 11th anniversary keep in mind that there’s unexpected pleasures to be gained when you strike up a conversation with strangers who are passing the time together. Take advantage of this when you can. Ep 93260 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: When Have You Gone Backwards to Go Forward?

Hello to you listening in Greeley, Colorado!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. My long-time dear friend and former US Navy corpsman, Gene, is fond of emailing me wisdom packaged as a joke. Here’s his latest: Little Johnny turns up late for school one morning. Teacher asks: Johnny, why are you late?" Johnny replies, It's snowing real hard. Every time I took a step forward I slid back two steps. The teacher - looking puzzled - says, That makes no sense. If you slid back two steps for every one step you took forward, how did you get here? Johnny rolls his eyes and replies, I turned around and walked backwards.Sometimes in life you have to turn around and walk backwards to get to where you’re going.Story Prompt: Think of a time when no matter what you did you felt like you could never get ahead, make any forward momentum or gain traction until that moment when you let go and did it a different way. What happened then? Write that story! Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. Ep 93160 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: How Do You Tackle Too Much Competition?

Hello to you listening in DeBary, Florida!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.I’ve been mulling over this predicament posed in Seth Godin’s blog post dated 10th June 2023: how to tackle having too much competition.According to Godin you have two choices:“Broaden your offerings, make them easier, cheaper and more available. Dumb them down and race to the bottom.Or…Focus on the customers who care enough about your idiosyncratic and particular offerings that they’ll not only happily walk away from the lesser alternatives, but they’ll tell the others.”Here’s what charms me: that my “idiosyncratic and particular offerings” attract the right clients, the happy clients, the repeat clients as well as the others that they tell.Question: How do you tackle too much competition? Ep 92960 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: What Might Happen When You Remove Yourself From External Values?

Hello to you listening in Arvada, Colorado!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Soon I’ll be revisiting my Camino deSantiago pilgrimage as I do every year at this time. 5 weeks - 500 miles. One of the gifts that keeps on giving is the reminder that outside or external values do not support folks who walk the Camino. The Camino eventually begins inside the pilgrim once she decides that she is ready to silence her fears, the voices in her head and welcome contemplation and reflection. I had to learn then and I still must keep on learning how to remove myself from outside space to pursue the rich dialogue with myself. Dialogues such as these happen on pilgrimage and wherever we claim time for ourselves. Practical Tip: When we walk with head, heart and mind in sync we walk away from anger, fear, worry, exhaustion, frustration, fatigue and all the rest. We become aware that we’ve been going the Wrong Way for too long. It’s time to get back to walking in harmony with our internal values. Now we will be able to walk our Buen Camino with peace in every step. Ep 92760 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: What If You Had Suspected What You Could Do?

Hello to you listening in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. Two lines from the novel Bel Canto by Ann Patchett gave me pause: “It makes you wonder. All the brilliant things we might have done with our lives if only we suspected we knew how.” [~ Ann Patchett p. 300] Maybe like me you’ve done many things and inhabited many roles over the course of your life. And yet and yet, maybe like me you wonder: what dreams have I not yet manifested? What have I squandered because I felt I didn’t know how? Where could I have risked something different? Ep 92660 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: Our Friendship Bench & What Is it to Love?

Hello to you listening in Goose Creek, South Carolina!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Recently I sat in on the Dennis Pitocco-inspired Biz Catalyst 360° #OurFriendshipBench, a weekly in-depth online co-hosted conversation about sentiments, observations, opinions, and ideas on wide-ranging topics. This topic was Love. “We humans have the need to give and receive love, and to feel that we belong. We belong where we are loved.”Inspired by the many many iterations on Love shared by those listening, thinking, pondering and speaking, I offer this to my friends and colleagues as one more notion to consider:“If someone loves you for what you can do then it’s flattering, but why do you love them? If someone loves you for who you are then they have to know you which means you have to know them.” [Bel Canto by Ann Patchett p. 224]Question: What say you about what it is to Love? Ep 92560 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: What Makes Our Human Voice So Powerful?

Hello to you listening in Garfield, Washington!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.Imagine that voicing your ideas is an act of creation. When we have the courage to use the power of our voice to speak our mind we have taken a bold and beautiful step toward making happen what we desire. Our best chance of being seen, heard, understood and listened to is by speaking with purpose, resolve, design. There is a galaxy of difference between spoken word and written word. One can read I Have a Dream speech and agree that an end to racism is a fine idea. Or, listen to Martin Luther King speaking his words, transmitting the emotion of his idea, creating empathy and energy. You will jump out of your socks at the audacity of what King believes is possible! Our voice is both the sound we make and the message we are delivering in our voice. Women especially fail to use the power of their voice to say what they mean and mean what they say. They hide behind the written word. But saying what we mean takes courage beyond writing words on the page.I’m coaching a professional client who is working on her Origin Story. She wrote and sketched her work on large pieces of blank paper. When we met on Zoom she held each piece of paper up to the camera walking me through her work - step by step - page by page - in her own voice - speaking what she had created. There was joy, pride, courage, freedom of expression, and commitment to being who she said she is - her Who!Speaking aloud does that; it shifts an idea on paper to becoming a reality when spoken aloud. Nothing matches the ability of a simple human voice to create an emotional connection.CTA: If you are ready or getting ready to be ready to work with me to become a better Story Influencer creating emotional connections with those you serve, I am ready to support you at Quarter Moon Story Arts. Ep 92460 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: What Simple Words Start Your Story?

Hello to you listening in Holland, Michigan!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga All great stories start with simple words. For example:“Here is a small fact. You are going to die.” [The Book Thief by Markus Zusak]“It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen.” [1984 by George Orwell]“This is the story of a man named Eddie and it starts at the end, with Eddie dying in the sun. It may seem strange to start a story with an ending, but all endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time.” [The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom]What’s happening here? It could be the “sorcery of stories.” Practically speaking it’s how each writer imagined a scene, combined the words - simple words - and made their story one of a kind.Practical Tip: Sit yourself in a comfortable spot with some blank pieces of paper and a few colored markers. Breathe, gaze off into space, imagine a scene. With all the intention of a playful experiment begin to doodle with simple word images to start your great story with that scene. And, if you would like a hand up to clarify your ideas and language, signal me. I’m in the lighthouse at Quarter Moon Story Arts. Ep 92360 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: What Might We Get When an Experiment Fails?

Hello to you listening in Driggs, Idaho!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Recently a friend mentioned that she was having a rough go of it because the job she had she didn’t want and the job she wanted she couldn’t get and this made her feel somehow lacking. If this undesirable situation is true - and she seems to believe it’s true - now what? What if we look objectively at the undesirable situation as an experiment that didn’t produce the expected results. Does that mean it failed? Perhaps not. What if the so-called failed experiment is a data point; it could be pointing you in a better direction. Jonas Salk once said, “There is no such thing as a failed experiment, because learning what doesn't work is a necessary step to learning what does.” Or, as the famous American jazz musician Louis Armstrong said, “It’s taken me all my life to learn what not to play.” Practical Tip: Think of a time when you believed you had failed but you figured out how to turn that experience into an opportunity and grow toward your better self. Give yourself a High Five! You got this! Ep 92260 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: How Might it Feel to Be Willing to Be Wrong?

Hello to you Patrice listening in Big Bear, California!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Recently I read the fierce, funny and subversive novel entitled When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill. A fiery feminist fantasy tale set in 1950s America where thousands of women have spontaneously transformed into dragons, exploding notions of a woman’s place in the world and expanding minds about accepting others for who they really are.Of all the many passages I scribbled down so as not to forget this one stays at the top of the list: “We don’t know what we cannot know and we will not know until we know. It requires an incredible amount of humility to be willing to be wrong nearly all the time. But we have to be willing to be wrong, and proven wrong, in order to increase knowledge overall.”Story Prompt: When have you startled yourself by a willingness to be wrong, to be proven wrong, to increase your knowledge about something, somewhere, someone? Write that story! Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. Hello to you listening all around the world!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga!Several years ago I started the practice of opening each daily 60 Seconds episode with a shout out: “Hello to you listening in ....” I’ve been asked whether there really are listeners in these locations and why do I say “Hello”?Yes, indeed! Each and every location is really real representing folks listening from where their feet touch the ground or road they are walking. How do I know? The Simplecast platform provides its users with a global map that highlights in yellow the cities and towns where folks are listening to my podcast. Ep 91760 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: How Are You Flourishing or Wilting on Your Vine?

Hello to you listening in Los Lunas, New Mexico!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. The other day my friend and colleague Dr. Hoda Kilani of Right Career Fit posed this question: “Are you moving forward in a way that motivates you to wake up and run to work?”Her question carried me back decades to one Easter Sunday. My baby brother, Paul, and I were standing in the kitchen of the family home. Maybe preparing a meal. Maybe washing up from a meal. I was yammering on about this or that activity, achievement, project in my professional life. Why? In part because my personal life had wilted. He turned and asked me: So, are you flourishing out there? What stays with me is the word "flourishing." A deliberate choice. One interpretation is "to grow luxuriantly." How often do we use that word? Not surprisingly flourish comes from the Old French meaning “flower.”Story Prompt: How are you waking up each day? Ready to move forward with anticipation? Or something else? What could use some attention so you flourish and bloom like the flower you are? Write that story! Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. Hello to you listening in Mount Lawley, Western Australia!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. The former British actor Alan Rickman (whom many remember as Professor Snape in the Harry Potter movie series) was an avid diarist of all things large and small in his storied life. The book, Madly, Deeply - The Alan Rickman Diaries Review spans 22 years of diaries, beginning in 1993 and ending in December 2015 shortly before his death capturing Rickman at the height of his fame. This line on page 37 of his book caught my ear: “I hate it when my head, heart and aspirations are filled to the brim only with career. The rest of me hangs around like a jacket on the back of a doorknob.”Apart from Rickman’s magical imagery, I hear longing for belonging to all parts of his life. Maybe like me you get caught up in the tasks of the professional day and let linger those delights and pleasures that round out a successful life.Practical Tip: Today is your chance! We went our separate ways after being honorably discharged; but, because the world is small and the Internet is large Gene found me and we’ve become fast friends. He reminded me the other day: "Before you can fly, you have to be willing to jump from a high place."Which, in turn, reminded me of a much loved song: The Cape by Guy Clark. [YouTube link and lyrics are also below in the Episode Notes.]And the song, in turn, took me to memories of friendship, stories, dreams, taking a leap of faith, the passage of time, and the joy of it all.Story Prompt: Take a listen to Guy Clarks’s song, remember a time when you were willing to trust your dreams and jumped. Write that story! Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. The other day at a very low moment I received a message from a woman I didn’t know who had listened to a 60 Seconds episode and wrote to thank me being a divine messenger who somehow knew what she needed to hear in that moment. She received a much-needed spiritual reflection. And I received a reason to persevere. My stories may not hold all the answers; nor are they intended to. This much I can say: we all struggle. Our struggles are strikingly similar even though we might think we are so very different. I’ve been down with struggles before and I’ll be there again. But I know the way out. Meanwhile, I’m here to offer what I can so that one way or another we will continue to find our way out.Practical Tip: Keep on! because someone is waiting for you and your good words. Ep 673Copy of 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: Out of Shatteredness Blooms the Unshatterable

Hello to you listening in Stalybridge, UK!And check out this fun video about the most famous service on Britain's railways: the Stockbridge to Stalybridge Parliamentary Train. Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Sometimes when we are in the thick of it we are hard pressed to make sense of the darkness, the loss, the confusion, the uncertainty. When you are ready the poet Rashani has words you can lean on to help you Begin Anew:The Unbroken"There is a brokennessout of which comes the unbroken,a shatterednessout of which blooms the unshatterable. There is a sorrowbeyond all grief which leads to joyand a fragilityout of whose depths emerges strength. There is a hollow spacetoo vast for wordsthrough which we pass with each loss, out of whose darknesswe are sanctioned into being. There is a cry deeper than all soundwhose serrated edges cut the heartas we break open to the place insidewhich is unbreakable and whole, while learning to sing." Ep 91260 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: How a Story Showed Me How to Ask for Help

Hello to you listening in Milan, Italy!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. Maybe like me you feel reluctant to ask for a hand up. Maybe you think that others will find you weak or lacking. Maybe you were raised to look to yourself for everything you needed. Whatever the backstory, many of us find it difficult to ask for help when, in fact, people want to give us a hand up. My mantra is “Each One Lift One is how we roll here!” So, what’s my problem? It took a short story to change my mind.Recently I made a trip to Gene’s Art Supplies and Frame shop in Oak Harbor. Gene still owns his shop. He comes in to work every day. I didn’t get a chance to meet him but the story manager, Shanna, pointed to a large framed tribute to Gene hanging on a wall. Two newspaper articles: 1 from World War II with a photo of him in naval uniform walking up a ship’s gangway looking much like the actor Clark Gable. And the other celebrating his 100th birthday in 2022. I asked Shanna what keeps Gene going and she said, two things: Love what you're doing and remember to ask for help. To all my friends and colleagues on LinkedIn who so generously gave my Quarter Moon Story Arts launch your robust and enthusiastic hands up, I say “Thank you for showing me the way!”Story Prompt: When have you surprised yourself by risking to ask for help and receiving another’s generosity? Write that story! Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. All that matters is you have a story. You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you: subscribe, share a 5-star rating + nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!MEANWHILE ..... stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out What I Offer,✓ Arrange your free Story Start-up Session,✓ Opt In to my monthly NewsAudioLetter for bonus gift, valuable tips & techniques to enhance your story work, and✓ Stay current with Diane and on LinkedIn.Stories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. Ep 90760 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: How Is a Podcast Like an Audio Business Card?

Hello to you listening in Camberwell, London, England!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday with your host, Diane Wyzga. My podcast showcases how you can craft your story message with precise imagery and universal themes in a clear, concise format. Each episode relies on life stories, observations, and personal experiences to bring you thoughts to ponder, questions to consider and calls to action in 60 second (or a bit more) sound bytes. They also serve as global audio business cards – each one an example of how I use language to create the “sorcery of stories” that helps us to be seen and heard, to understand and be understood. What does that mean? We are a collective of story people. Stories educate, illuminate, comfort, heal, provoke, inform, delight, question, inspire, motivate, and much more. Together we experience the “sorcery of stories”; together we are seen, heard, understood and understand. We might be worlds apart; but on this platform we are one in story. Story Prompt: What if you could learn how to use your authentic voice to inspire, engage, influence, comfort, and more? Are you curious to learn how you can use the power of story to profoundly and positively shift our awareness, our behavior, even our culture? How would you like to say what you mean and mean what you say in clear words and images?I can help you develop these tools! Together let’s “Write that story!” And, whether you are ready to work with me as your trusted story guide or getting ready to be ready, I’m here to support you at Quarter Moon Story Arts! Ep 621Copy of 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: What if You Put Down What You’re Carrying

Hello to you listening in Mandaluyong City, Philippines!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more ) for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. The other day something pretty rotten happened to me. I felt taken advantage of. How dare she? Who does she think she is? After all I’ve done! My anger and resentment continued long past their shelf life. What happened next? I remembered something.Perhaps you’re familiar with the story of two Buddhist monks, one older and one younger, walking a dirt road back to their temple. Arriving at a wide river they see a woman standing on the bank unsure of how to cross. She asks for help. Without a word the older monk lifts her in his arms, carries her across the river, sets her gently on the other side and nods farewell. The younger monk is shocked! An hour of walking, then two, then three, and finally the younger monk explodes in rage: “We took a vow as monks not to touch women! You carried her! You broke the sacred vow!”As the story goes the older monk says, “Yes, I picked her up, I put her down, and you are still carrying her.”Story Prompt: What are you carrying around that’s ready to be put down? How would it feel to let it go? Write that story! Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. All that matters is you have a story. You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, share a nice shout out on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time! Hello to you listening in Camrose, Alberta, Canada!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga. He’s making himself known calling from across the house, standing and staring in my office doorway until I notice. My kitty is a senior fellow. Been with me some 17 years or so since I brought him home from the shelter. Someone had dumped the litter in a bin outside a convenience store. He’s weathered many changes: losing his sister, moving from household to household, now age and kidney disease. The thing about him is that he asks for what he wants when he wants it. He doesn’t waste a sunny afternoon wondering what I think. He snoozes in a warm space. He’s figured out how to claim his spot on the bed and the pillow so I adjust to him. No matter my mood or attitude he’s there ready to hand out his personal brand of affection.Question: What if we could live as well? Would we take the chance? Would we risk it all to be so free? There is something more. From Alan Bennett’s play, The History Boys: "The best moments in reading are when you come across something—a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things—which you had thought special and particular to you. Now here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out and taken yours."Question: When has a book reached out and taken your hand? How did it feel? What happened next? You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, share a nice shout out on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time! Happiness is here and nowI have dropped my worriesSomewhere to goSomething to doAnd I don’t need to hurry.”Practical Tip: Give it go. See how it helps you!
