Show Notes

Hello to you listening in Bogor, Indonesia!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

My Camino pilgrimage journal reveals my tendency to complain about the various discomforts and challenges along the way. I grumbled about rocky paths, ill-fitting gear, and ever-changing weather leading me to consider quitting not long after I had started out. I wondered whether I had what it took to keep going, even a little bit.

And then this transformative moment during a scorching trek to Zubiri when I walked with other pilgrims: a Korean opera singer who sang “O Solo Mio” a capella, filling the air with his resonant voice; a French woman who found humor in clothes I had pinned to my backpack like a mobile shopping cart; and, a local woman who pointed me toward the nearby village for the albergue with a simple “poco.”

The necessity of these times is so that we can look back in wonder and fall on our knees in GRATITUDE for all the help that comes from unexpected places and people who - unbeknownst to us - are quietly conspiring on our behalf. If we do not feel grateful for what we already have what makes us think we would be happy with more?

Story Prompt: Who reassured you when you felt uncertain and grumbling so that you could keep going with gratitude? Write that story!
