It will swirl in through the doors and windows, down the chimney, up from the basement, through the mail slot, enveloping you with hope and imagination. Ep 851Copy of 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: What Happens When We Pause Our Spoken Words?
Hello to you listening in Lorton, Virginia!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. As a keynote speaker, trainer, focus group facilitator, litigator, and storyteller I’ve had many opportunities over the decades to learn about and use the power of the pause. I’ve come to know that inviting the space of silence in a story - whether in a boardroom, classroom, or courtroom - creates an opportunity for speaker and audience to rest, live and breathe inside the story, to ponder, to reflect. Our job as speakers and storytellers is not to rocket along to the end, but to create the opportunity where we can sit together quietly in the beating heart of the story. To inhabit that world together. That’s the "sorcery of stories" I work with.Story Prompt: Imagine yourself speaking to your audience. Imagine taking the time to pause between your thoughts. What’s happens then? Write that story! Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. All that matters is you have a story. You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, follow, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time! Ep 850Copy of 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: How Can You Stop Creating When Someone Needs to Hear Your Good Words?
Hello to you listening in Santa Maria de Palautordera, Barcelona, Spain!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Maybe like me you have days when you ask yourself: Why am I bothering to create? What is the point of all this effort? Who really cares? I can tell you this about that. Oftentimes a vendor in a store or on the phone will ask me, “Will there be anything else?” I like saying, “Yes, I was thinking World Peace.” It always gets a pause, maybe a chuckle, sometimes, “I don’t know how I can help with that.” But we do know, don’t we? Our acts of kindness, generosity, giving someone a hand up all go to the same end: making the world a wee bit better. We don’t always know who our work helps or how or when; but if we create it for the good it will be of good. My episodes don’t hold all the answers; nor are they intended to. This much I can say: we all struggle. Our struggles are strikingly similar even though we might think we are so very different. I’ve been down with struggles before and I could be there again, although I know a way out. Meanwhile, I’m here to offer what I’ve learned in the hope that it helps you find your way out of whatever problem you are experiencing.Practical Tip: Keep on creating! Keep on creating your work because someone somewhere is waiting for you to help light up their world! You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, follow, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time! Ep 849Copy of Wednesdays on Whidbey: What Is the Story That Connects With, Engages and Influences Your Audience?
Hello to you listening in Blaine by the Sea, Washington!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories from Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.I help people find the words they didn’t know they had to create their origin story, legacy, About page, mission statement, and more.Imagine you are carrying an untold story. What does that feel like? Does it hover just out of reach and speech?I believe that - like so many of us - you have something to say but you can’t find the words; so, your story can’t create the change you want to see.For 30 years, I’ve helped people take their story from a message only they could hear to the publishing world, the courtroom, hospitals, boardrooms, and more. Stories that swayed juries. Built markets. Spread ideas. Changed things.CTA: If you are curious about how to get to the heart of your message and the message of your heart, please message me on LinkedIn or Quarter Moon Story Arts where we are finishing up a vastly new and improved website. Let’s get started on your story! You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, follow, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time! Ep 848Copy of 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: How to Breathe Your Way To Calm and Steady.
Hello to you listening in Bordeaux, France!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Maybe like me you find yourself stuck in a line at the post office, the grocery story, the ferry terminal, or just everyday traffic red lights as far as the eye can see. You feel yourself growing increasingly impatient, chest clenches, heart rate ticks up, shoulders squeeze, lips tighten. No peace of mind to be had.Practical Tip: You are not only the master of your fate - you are also the master of your mind. All it takes is a little practice. Try this: breathe in slowly and mindfully saying to yourself, “This is my in-breath. I know I’m breathing in.” Pause for a moment and breathe out slowly and mindfully saying to yourself, “This is my out-breath. I know I’m breathing out.” After a few of these in-breaths and out-breaths (or maybe more than a few) you’ll feel yourself softening, your shoulders relax, your heart rate slows, your mind a bit more calm, peaceful, steady and ready to continue on your project, on your way, knowing that this practice is available to you at any moment to restore and refresh. Guaranteed! You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, follow, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time! Ep 847Copy of 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: What My Grandfather Taught Me About Staying the Course
Hello to you listening in Warsaw, Poland!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. As much as I try to be an easygoing, stretch your wings and fly type, there are moments when I just can’t stop trying to burst people into flames with my mind. What sets me off? Something someone said or did which I perceive as an insult, a slight, an affront. We hear this all this time: Take nothing personally; the stuff that folks say and do by and large has nothing to do with you. Yes, true, but still the stuff folks say and do can trigger our insecurities. What happens next? Meltdown!Practical Tip: When you are tempted to take something personally, step back, pause, consider. If what’s been said has nothing to do with you - which is often the case - let it all go. Stay your own course. My grandfather was fond of saying, “Diana, Nie mój cyrk. Nie moje małpy.” “Diane, not my circus - not my monkeys!”You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, follow, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time! Ep 856Copy of 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: What Does Telling Your Story Have to Do With Wellness?
Hello to you listening in Isanti, Minnesota!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday, and your host, Diane Wyzga.Recently I gave my first in-person storytelling course since we had all been shut down during COVID. My course was offered under the auspices of a holistic health association. You might be wondering what story has to do with health and wellness. I can say this about that: storytelling (as well as story listening) is therapeutic. You see, what matters in life is not what happens to you, but how you respond to the plot twists and how you tell your story. Holding tight to our untold professional or personal story might disguise the pain for a while but eventually that story wants to be heard. In my experience it is a relief to be heard. Clients have reported feeling more at ease, having peace of mind. I believe that listening stories out of my clients is what makes me a healer as well as a story guide.Story Prompt: Whether you are writing your origin/brand story, your About page, your legacy - it’s all your life! Don’t hand over your pen to anyone else. What’s the story whose time has come to be heard? Write that story! Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. All that matters is you have a story. You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, follow, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time! Ep 855Copy of 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: Which Is More Important? Process or Product?
Hello to you listening in Shalotte, Brunswick Islands, North Carolina!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Let me be clear! The process of creating our work is important. While we can ship our imperfect work into the world that needs to hear what we have to say, it’s not sloppy, careless, thoughtless, slapped together work. We are better than that. However, if we are agonizing over the process of creating so that the process becomes precious we can easily forget what we are About and lose our way. As I have said before: you are not a product - You are a Presence. Your work is your You, your About. Your About is the invitation to your readers, listeners, clients and audience to connect with who You are, not just what you have to offer.Bring the message of your heart to the heart of your message and you will succeed! Why? Because how you do what you do is your competitive advantage. And in the whole wide world there is no other You!You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, follow, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time! Ep 854Copy of 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: Imagine That Your Message Is Your Presence, Not a Product
Hello to you listening on Camano Island, Washington!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.Social media platforms can feel like echo chambers with everyone clamoring for the same thing: attention to their product. But you are not a product; you are a Presence. Your work, your message, your origin story is your You. It's the message of your heart. The message that says this is me! This is what I stand for! This is how I express myself! This is how I serve for the good! What would it take to reclaim your Presence whether you have a case to win, an origin story to tell, a keynote to shape, or a vision to sell? I believe that you know what you want to say; you just need someone to listen it out of you.As a story guide that is precisely what I do. How? Using traditional storytelling techniques and methods plus 30 years of story work in law, healthcare, business, education, and public speaking I help you get to the heart of your message and the message of your heart to reveal the You in your work. It’s a radical shift in mindset because my approach recognizes that you are not a product - you are a Presence. And, you are what the world needs and wants.CTA: If you’re curious about getting to the heart of your message and the message of your heart so you are seen, heard, understood, and listened to, contact me on LinkedIn or by email at Quarter Moon Story Arts to schedule your free 30 minute Discovery Chat. Ep 853Copy of 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: What Might Be the Best Use of Today?
Hello to you listening in San Ramon, California!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.I’m getting older. Don’t quite know when or how it happened, but it certainly did. I’m more keenly aware that death is certain although the time of death is uncertain. And I still have no clue about how much time might be left to fulfill the potential of my precious human birth. Some nights before I fall asleep I wonder where did the day go? What did I do? What do I have to show for these hours? Maybe this happens to you.Practical tip: When you feel perplexed, anxious or uncertain, pause and ask yourself: What is the best use of this very short day in my life? Take 3 deep breaths to create a still space, slow the worrying, the mind chatter, and sit quietly. Silence will dawn on you with all its magic and sacredness. In that stillness you will have your answer. You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, follow, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time! Hello to you listening in Essex Junction, Vermont!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. There are perils and pleasures to be had by deliberately living your story your way. As Antonio Machado reminds us, “Pilgrim, there is no path. The path is made by walking. By walking you make the path.”Before you shut down your computer and run off on a major life course correction, please know that the road of living your story your way is not an easy one. If it were up to me I would say to you, Buen Camino, peregrino! Go! Walk! Live! Disregard what or whom does not support, encourage, or help you to flourish. Find your tribe. Ep 90260 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: What Have You Learned About Life’s Good Stuff?
Hello to you listening in Clinton, Washington!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. I have less time to live going forward than I have lived until now. I have more past than future. What might be a few things I’ve learned?I’ve learned that once a woman decides what she wants, never underestimate her ability to get it, and you better get out of her way.I’ve learned that big problems start out small and it’s unwise to marry someone with more problems than you no matter what size they are. I’ve learned that it pays to believe in miracles. Why? Because I’ve seen them.Story Prompt: What have you learned about life’s good stuff? Write that story!Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. Ep 90160 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: When Is the Trail Not a Trail?
Hello to you listening in Danvers, Massachusetts!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga. These past 9 months or so have felt like the dark night of the soul, over and over and over again. Think the movie Groundhog Day. If this is a crisis of faith, I would say, how do I find the way out? Where is the trail? But, what if there’s another way? As in this poem by Gary Snyder: The Trail Is Not a Trail“I drove down the FreewayAnd turned off at an exitAnd went along a highwayTil it came to a side-roadDrove up the side-roadTil it turned to a dirt roadFull of bumps, and stopped.Walked up a trailBut the trail got roughAnd it faded away—Out in the open,Everywhere to go.” ["The Trail Is Not a Trail" by Gary Snyder, from Left Out in the Rain. © North Point Press, 1986.] You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe, share a 5-star rating + nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out What I Offer,✓ Arrange your free Story Starter Session,✓ Opt In to my monthly Newsletter for bonus gift, valuable tips & techniques to enhance your story work, and✓ Stay current with Diane and on LinkedIn.Stories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present: for credit & attribution Quarter Moon Story Arts
Ep 90060 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: When Is a Delay Something to Be Thankful For?
Hello to you listening in Newport, Washington!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk With 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. It’s taken me upwards of 7 months or more to renovate my Quarter Moon Story Arts website. I had hoped to launch it this week but there’s a small technical challenge. You might think I’m pretty lame taking all that time to create a website when some folks can do it in 24 hours on SquareSpace. So, what’s the story? What took so long?Looking back on the road I walked, the road that won’t be walked again, I see that I have been walking toward my work. I have been walking toward my Who. Who am I? What do I have to offer? To whom? How will it help them?Sure, there are some who will say I took too long; but maybe they don’t know about the great Louis Armstrong, world class jazz musician and trumpeter who said, “It’s taken me all my life to learn what not to play.”Question & CTA: What’s the story behind what took you so long to learn? When you are ready I can help you find the words you didn’t know you had to tell that story. You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe, share a 5-star rating + nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out What I Offer,✓ Arrange your free Story Starter Session,✓ Opt In to my monthly Newsletter for bonus gift, valuable tips & techniques to enhance your story work, and✓ Stay current with Diane and on LinkedIn.Stories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present: for credit & attribution Quarter Moon Story Arts

Ep 897Technical Hiccup REDO: 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: What Happens When We Invite the Power of the Pause?
Hello to you Michelle listening in Victoria, B.C. Canada who alerted me to a technical hiccup in the podcast: no podcaster voice, just Steve Schuch’s (Night Heron Music) lovely music, Mer’s Waltz. Making it up to you....Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. As long-time storyteller I’ve had many opportunities over the decades to learn about and use the power of the pause. I’ve come to know that inviting the space of silence in a story creates an opportunity for teller and audience to rest, live and breathe inside the story. My job as a teller is not to rocket along to the end, but to invite coming together in the beating heart of the story. To inhabit the story world as one. That’s where the “sorcery of stories” takes place.Story Prompt: Take a moment to Pause. Be. Here. Now. As long as it takes. Feel what happens. Now, who have you become? Write that story!Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. All that matters is you have a story. You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe, share a 5-star rating + nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out What I Offer,✓ Arrange your free Story Start-up Session,✓ Opt In to my monthly Newsletter for Bonus gift, valuable tips & techniques to enhance your story work, and✓ Stay current with Diane and on LinkedIn.Stories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present: for credit & attribution Quarter Moon Story Arts

Ep 89560 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: How Is the Divine Plan Like a Jigsaw Puzzle?
Hello to you listening in Great Falls, Montana!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Maybe like me you enjoy jigsaw puzzles. The more pieces, the more complicated the better. Yet, with hundreds or even thousands of little pieces you run the risk that one or more could get lost leaving your puzzle with gaps.It got me thinking: what if the Divine Plan is like a jigsaw puzzle. And each of us is a piece of the puzzle. We bring our purpose to the Divine Plan and bit by bit it takes shape. Ours is a collective effort. If we don’t bring our purpose to the Plan it will have gaps; it will be missing us and what we have to offer. The stuff the world needs. That’s why we do the work we do. To be of use, to be of good, to be a community. Question: What’s your piece?

What do I mean? Our oral tradition of narratives, origin stories, creation myths, and so on - up to the present time - came about because we are a meaning-seeking people. Our ancestors looked up into the heavens, saw comets and asked, “What does this mean?” The same with weather patterns, crop failures, upheavals - virtually anything they encountered and did not understand. They created stories to make sense of things, to remember the meanings. They shared those stories with other humans to connect, to bear witness to the lives they were living. And the same is true today.Whether we call it our origin story, our creation story, our brand story, our marketing story it’s all story designed to connect, engage and influence others.CTA: How would you like to create your story with meaning and power to connect, engage and influence? Ep 89160 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: How Might Our Errors Guide Us to Our Creation Story?
Hello to you listening in Lake Worth, Florida!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Working with my clients I become deeply involved in their Creation or origin stories. Creation stories provide important information about culture, values, ancestors and so forth that are passed down from generation to generation through storytelling. These stories inform our lives and help us create our own professional and personal stories.Often we imagine that only our good, wise, best choices and opportunities deserve to be part of our Creation story. Not so! I’m here to tell you, “Out of a whole lifetime, by God, sometimes the only thing that saves a person is error, and I know that we shall not be saved so long as our error is not precious to us.” [Clarice Lispector, from the story “Mineirinho”]You see, when we embrace our wrong turns, dead ends, mistakes and missteps as being precious to us, we can learn who we are not, who we are not meant to be, what we are not called to do. In our errors we find our very own powerful Creation story. My clients ask me how to find the powerful Creation story that belongs to them and where to start. I tell them: “Just pretend like it will all make sense if you simply begin.” And. It. Does.Story Prompt: When have your errors and missteps guided you to the heart of your narrative? Write that story!Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. All that matters is you have a story. You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe, share a 5-star rating + nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out What I Offer,✓ Arrange your free Story Session call + Bonus gift,✓ Opt In to my monthly Newsletter for valuable tips & techniques to enhance your story work, and✓ Stay current with Diane and on LinkedIn.Stories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer’s Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present: for credit & attribution Quarter Moon Story Arts

Ep 89060 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: What Can a First Impression Tell Us About Someone?
Hello to you listening in Kings Hill, Montana!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday, and your host, Diane Wyzga. How often have you made a decision about someone you just met? If you’re anything like me perhaps your righteous, opinionated, judgmental side showed up. Not good! I know; I’m working on it.Why? There are virtues to withholding judgment. As Amor Towles writes: “After all, what can a first impression tell us about someone we’ve just met for a minute in the lobby of a hotel? For that matter, what can a first impression tell us about anyone? Why, no more than a chord can tell us about Beethoven, or a brushstroke about Botticelli. By their very nature, human beings are so capricious, so complex, so delightfully contradictory that they deserve not only our consideration, but our reconsideration-and unwavering determination to withhold our opinion until we have engaged with them in every possible setting at every possible hour.” [A Gentleman in Moscow, by Amor Towles]Question: When have you been surprised (and delighted) to learn that your first impression wasn’t your last?

Ep 88860 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: How Far Is it to Find Out Who You Are?
Hello to you listening in Point Reyes Station, California!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk With 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga. As many of you know my 5 week, 500 mile pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago de Compostella defines my life: BC (before Camino) and AC (after Camino). Not a day goes by that I don’t recall some aspect of The Way of Saint James. As you walk The Way you are often asked: how come you are walking? In the beginning I said I’m finding myself or healing old stuff. But it never rang true. Rather, I was called to walk. That was true. There was no more denying that call than stopping my own heartbeat. But called for what? There were days I felt like I missed the spiritual boat. There were days I felt like I made a poor pilgrim. There were days I asked for answers and heard only silence in the wind. Now I know. As the song goes, “Pilgrim, it’s a long way to find out who you are.” [Pilgrim by Enya]The Camino asked only that I walk, be the walking, and be the road that led to me.Question: How have you been called to find out who you are? Ep 88660 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: What Did the Camino Teach Me About Complications and Consequences?
Hello to you listening in Madeira, Portugal!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.I taught a story workshop the other day. We began by recognizing that in its very simplest form a story is made up of 3 parts: something was (a routine) + something happened (a complication) + something is (a consequence or result).I remembered an event on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. You must have a sturdy pair of trekking poles (or sticks) to help you navigate 500 miles of muddy, rocky, slippery, downhill slopes; equally steep, rocky, muddy, mountain passes, city streets that go on forever when you can barely take another step. Or maybe to just to lean on and catch your breath. Mine were red and I usually kept them close to hand.Until one day out on the Maseta, the flat dry plains of Spain that stretch to the horizon, I stopped at a café and left my sticks leaning against the outside wall. It’s what we all did. But when I came out of the café my sticks were gone. Now what do I do? I have weeks of mountains to climb. The rains were on the way. How will I manage?I began to run in the direction I was headed. Running, in hiking boots, with a 15 pound backpack, feeling angry, self-pitying, disappointed in all pilgrims, and swearing a blue streak. Finally, I ran out of words, out of breath and stopped. I let it all go. What were sticks anyway but metal and rubber? I could likely buy another pair in some city up ahead. Just then I saw a woman swinging my sticks. I caught up to her, she handed them over without a word, I said Buen Camino! and walked on. Many things we experience in Life are little more than annoyments. Funny thing about Life: it provides when you least expect it and you're willing to allow it.Story Prompt: Sometimes what’s lost will circle right back to you. When has that happened? Write that story!

Ep 88560 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: How Are End-of-Life Wishes Like a GPS?
Hello to you listening in Rock Island, Illinois!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Over these several years and a few episodes back I’ve reminded my listeners about preparing for end-of-life wishes. Recently a colleague mentioned that she had gotten some documents ready but now they were out of sight and out of mind. No matter, she said. I’ll leave it to my family to sort out.My mom died after a short battle with lymphoma during which time we were not allowed to ask about or prepare for her end-of-life. It was a scramble of 7 siblings helping dad carry out all the many preparations one isn’t faced with until one is. We did it well, and then we grieved. You would think we learned a lesson. But when dad died all we knew is that he had wanted to be buried in a plain pine box made by an order of monks. Now what? Fortunately, his best friend had the details. Once again we scrambled to get the pine box made and shipped to the funeral home. End-of-life wishes are like a GPS for your loved ones, a way to say to them in their time of grief: Here, my beloveds, I can help you. I have this map of what to do and how to go about it. You won’t be led astray. I’ve provided everything for you. Practical Tip: Decide on your end-of-life wishes and then program your GPS for your beloveds.
