After this scene in the movie, Anakin raced to the temple to find just what he could on Darth Plagueis and the old legend. In Star Wars some things have been made canon whereas others have been left in legends. In the canon novel Lords of the Sith, we see Darth Vader speak in the ancient Sith tongue to Palpatine. The book is followed by "Tarkin" which I recommend, as well. I wonder if in Star Wars The Last Jedi we'll see Luke learn the ancient Sith language, now that he's so obsessed with all things ancient and force user affiliated. It would be cool to see Darth Vader speak this language in the movies...just imagine if we got a Star Wars Trailer of it someday for a new anthology film. In Star Wars revenge of the sith, once anakin cut off the hand of Mace Windu, and palpatine tested him out of the window, dubbing the chosen one as Darth Vader. He sent Anakin to the jedi temple, and then to Mustafar to wipe out the separatist leaders, ending the war. Why didn’t palpatine just send anakin to Mustafar, while the clones took out the jedi at the temple? Risking Anakin against Jedi Masters all defending themselves at once might have cost Palpatine all he had worked so hard for with Anakin, losing him in a duel. Mace Windu has always had a conflict with the dark side within himself. He created Vaapad as a variant lightsaber form (form VII) for this particular reason. Before the events of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, Grievous and Mace Windu actually meet to fight one another. The battle is one that I wish we got to see on screen in live action, however, at least we got it in this book: Labyrinth of Evil by James Luceno. The book takes place before Revenge of the Sith where it follows the Jedi Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi on their mission to get the holo chair from Nute Gunray, and track its information down to find Sidious and reveal his true identity as Palpatine. This all happens before Anakin fights Dooku, and of course, before he becomes Vader. Had Mace beaten General Grievous, I think things would have been very different, because then Obi-Wan would be at the temple most likely when Anakin revealed the truth about Palpatine being the Sith Lord. I think Obi-Wan could have guided Anakin better in that moment, perhaps, or at least it would be down to Obi-Wan and Palpatine surviving, and that's a choice Anakin would have a hard time making. Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker could have had only so many directions after The Last Jedi. The ending we got was one way to go (and I liked it a lot), however I think if we got this ending, then it could have added a little more to the story of Skywalker and made us all feel connected to everything, even more! I also think this would have diminished a lot of the anger towards this movie. Personally, I really enjoyed it, given the direction Last Jedi put us in with Snoke and Luke.
