Matt and Steve are talking about this week in sports updates, including: The Riverhounds had a big bounce back game with a 4-1 win over the Bethlehem Steel. The Riverhounds pretty much had total domination in the game. Louisville City comes to Highmark Stadium. The Riverhounds are back in 2nd place with 7 games left in the regular season. PGA Tour has a week off between the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Course outside Atlanta GA. The FedEx Cup is narrowed to 30 players. It took an extra day and a playoff to determine a winner which was Keegan Bradley won out over Justin Rose - who is the world #1 - in the BMW Championship. A lot of big names finished high in the BMW Championship. Jordan Spieth Finished 31st - one spot outside. In MLB news, the AL West and NL West are the hot divisions to be keeping an eye on. NL Central is a flip-flop of the Cubs and Brewers. The Pirates had a 7-game winning streak before running into the Cards. The Pirates held off a sweep. With the rain out, the Buccos WILL get to play in October. The Pirates are looking to end on a .500 season. NHL camps start. In NCAA football, Pitt got shelled by PSU with a bad showing. Pitt has GT coming to town. PSU has Kent State headed into Happy Valley. Notre Dame beat Ball State in a game they should have lost based on the stats sheet. Thank God for running backs and a bad run block defense from Ball State. Games are postponed due to a hurricane. The Steelers looked like POOOOO!!!! The Riverhounds host Bethlehem Steel for a College Night match. Louisville City comes to town to battle the Riverhounds. Bryson DeChambeau wins the Dell Technologies Championship At TPC Boston. DeChambeau has two in a row in the FedEx Cup playoff. Bryson DeChambeau leads with 2,328 points over Dustin Johnson. The PGA heads to Aronimink Golf Club in Newton Square, a suburb of West Philly in the BMW Championship. Three of the four Captan picks for the Ryder Cup were made. The Pirates are done for the season and have made final trades. The Pirates are dumping salary and seem to be preparing for next season. Cutch was traded to the Yankees since Judge is on DL still and they need a position player and a bat for the outfield. The NL West is still the hot division. Keep an eye on the AL West. In the AL East, the Sox are about to get Chris Sale and David Price back off the DL. Looks like the Sox are in a great position ahead of the Yanks. Pens training camp to start on the 14th. NCAA Week One is in the books. Pitt won 33-7 with PSU coming to town next. PSU won 45-38 in OT, and now they're heading to Pitt. WVU won 40-14. Youngstown State goes to Morgantown. Notre Dame won 24-17. Ball State comes to South Bend. There's a lot going on with the Steelers this week. Landry Jones is out. No Bell. Steelers are preparing for Cleveland. Fantasy Football. Matt and Steve are talking about this week in sports updates, including: The Riverhounds have games at Indy Eleven and FC Cincy. The PGA Tour stopped in Paramus NJ at Ridgewood Championship Course. Bryson DeChambeau took the win in the first of 4 playoff tournaments in the FedEx Cup. Bryson was leading after Day 2 and just kept it rolling throughout the whole weekend. The PGA continues to TPC Boston for the second leg of the FedEx Cup Playoff. DeChambeau is leading by 648 points over DJ, Thomas, Finau, and Koepka. Ricky Fowler will be out due to an oblique injury. Tony Romo will try to earn a web.com tour card. Hawaii wins the Little League World Series over South Korea in a 3-0 shutout. South Korea has played in 3 of the past 6 Little League World Series Championship Games, winning only one in 2014. Justin Verlander had a hefty lunch bill at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Odell Beckham, Jr has a 5-year $95 million deal with $65 million guaranteed. The AL West and the NL West are the most exciting divisions in MLB right now. The A’s and the Astros are playing a series that could be a big swing in the division. The NL West is all within a game in the top 3 and they all play each other in the next few weeks. The Pirates are all out of any division and wild card options. The moves made bringing in Chris Archer will be better for the next few seasons but are not going to help now. Archer pitches well, but he hasn't received run support. Again, the Pirates fail and Nutting wins by lining his wallet. NCAA Football is back! Albany comes to Pitt. Appalachian State goes to PSU. WVU goes to Tennessee. Michigan goes to Notre Dame. The Steelers had a bit of a scare in the 3rd pre-season game with the Titans in town. Ramon Foster had a knee injury and the first thought was it was career-ending. Thankfully Foster's knee injury looked worse than it is and he should be able to go week one. The Steelers traded a 5th round 2019 pick to the Raiders for WR and KR Ryan Switzer and a 6th round pick in 2019. The return game is in dire straits and needs help. The QB position and WR position are the ones to watch in Steelers Camp. The 53-man roster deadline is Sunday at midnight. Our overall predictions and thoughts. Matt and Steve are talking about this week in sports updates, including: The Riverhounds had a Nil-Nil draw with the Charlotte Independence. Goaltending and defense kept the Riverhounds in the game. Good news, there are no real lowlights but there weren't a lot of highlights to speak of. The Riverhounds took on the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Brandt Sneaker won the PGA Wyndham Championship with a -21 for the tournament. Brandt started the PGA Wyndham Championship with that magical 59. He started with a bogey and finishing with a 20 ft birdie on hole 18 for 11 under par in round one. This week the PGA Tour heads to Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus NJ for the Northern Trust Open. All the big names are in for the Northern Trust Open as it is a FedEx Cup Playoff tournament. Sister Mary Jo is a curveball sleeper. Big Al hits dingers. WPIAL Football starts. Cutch put on waivers. Pirates dropped 2 of 4 to the Cubs and 2 to the Braves. Pirates offense has come to a halt it seems like, and the defense has opened up some hole. It's time to bring up some guys in the minors and see what they have. The Boston Red Sox had a bit of skid, but are still 8.5 games ahead of the Yankees in the AL East. The Indians are 13 games up in the AL Central. The A’s and Astros are tied in the AL West. In the NL, the Braves are 1.5 games up in the Phillies in the east. The Cubs are 2.5 games up on the Brewers. The Diamondbacks are .5 games up on the Rockies. NCAA Football starts. NCAA Football has already seen lots of warm up games, with very few actual competitive match ups. Pitt's Kenny Pickett is named starter for the season in his Sophomore year. WVU Football QB, Will Grier, has already been named as a first team All-American. Kenny Pickett is a Heisman hopeful for this season. PSU QB, Trace McSorley, was named second team All-American. McSorley could also be in the Heisman hunt. In Steelers news, Ben will play week 3 of pre-season. It looks as though the Steelers will be playing AB and all starters for at least the 1st quarter for pre-season games. The 3rd pre-season game is the one that is used as real game prep and game plan analysis. Please don't get hurt!
