Wrestling Mayhem Show 649: Lurking Lars
EThis week’s episode brought to you by Indy Wrestling US, Slice on Broadway, Occupy Pro Wrestling, and IndyWrestling Network! We've got a full couch this week as Joe Dombrowski, Rizz, and Larry join Sorg in studio with Mad Mike tuning in through that magical thing called the internet. There are lots of things to talk about this week, like: We're seeing some new faces on WWE main shows. Rizz is making some predictions about where we may see things headed with WWE now that we've seen some call-ups. Joe is sharing his thoughts about the WWE main roster call-ups. Is WWE making assumptions that main roster fans are already familiar with NXT talent when they do call-ups? The women's tag team titles announcement had an interesting reveal since it's a unified title across brands and not separate titles for each brand. We're taking a bit of a deep-dive into the women's wrestling changes that are happening. We're talking some NXT UK Takeover Blackpool! Apparently the UK audience addresses wrestling a little differently than US audiences. (What's with the shoes?) Joe is sharing some of his UK insights with us. Sooo...Walter made his WWE debut. Is WWE taking a page from history and creating their own territories? Instead of competitive markets, they'll be cooperative? This week's Big Question: What region would you like to see WWE expand to next? The WWE Performance Center has a YouTube channel, and they release some pretty cool stuff - like the Ray Rowe and Sarah Logan wedding video! What did YOU learn in wrestling this week? Follow our stable on Twitter: Rizz (@RizzPlaysGames), Larry (@MutilatorLarry), Joe Dombrowski (@joe_dombrowski), Mad Mike (@MadMike4883), and Sorg (@Sorgatron). And, there's so much happening this week. Between celebrating our podcast birthday to prepping for this year's Mayhem Mania we've got plenty of hilarity, including: We're back after our holiday break - and we're officially a year older as we celebrate our birthday with Sorg and the crew. We are enjoying Mad Mike's Becky Lynch shirt for the show tonight. Mayhem Mania is coming up - and the playing field just changed. Things could get REALLY interesting this year. Ibushi and Ospreay are magic. There are a ton of exclusive contracts in various companies - how will that affect some of the former talent team-ups we've seen? This week's Big Question: Part 1: Who was your favorite wrestler when you were 14? Part 2: Make a match you’d want to see with your 14-year-old wrestler and someone from today’s roster. We're headed back in time to 2006 - remembering what wrestling was like when the Mayhem Show was born. Mad Mike unearthed a fan mail from Juggalo Jamie - just for our birthday celebration. This is the part of the show where Sorg gets weepy and retrospective about all that he's seen as a result of the podcast. Mayhem Mania is coming. Our Mayhem Show predictions for 2019: Larry: Mad Mike will visit the studio in 2019. Sorg: There will be more IMPACT discussion in 2019. Mad Mike will be unblocked by IMPACT’s main account. EMatt and Steve are talking about this week in sports updates, including: PIAA Football State Championship games rundown. The MLB off season is in full swing. There are some trades happening in the MLB off season. Ivan Nova is headed to the White Sox from the Buccos in exchange for a mid reliever and $500K in cash for the foreign area. This year is the 2nd straight QB win for the Heisman trophy, and the 2nd straight Sooners QB to win. Murray had 4k passing yards, 51TD, and a 12-1 season to win the Big 12 title. Oakland A’s have signed Murray to play Baseball in the 2018 draft for $4.66 Million. He was #9 overall. Although Murray has signed to a baseball team, he is also looking to possibly do both - he's just not sure how possible it is. NCAA Basketball saw Pitt take two losses. NCAA conference play starts after the first of the year. WVU hoops has had some bad losses. PSU is 5-4 with 2 losses and some tough non-conference play coming up. Notre Dame is 6-3 with conference play in the ACC after the first of the year. The Irish are coming off 2 losses in a row to Oklahoma and UCLA. Bowl season starts with NCAA football. Penguins stars have shined recently with some nice wins, but the guys have taken some bad losses as well. The Penguins are currently 4th in the division, and in the middle of their annual DADS trip. The guys appreciate the DADS trip because they get to share stories and such together and hang with the fam. Steelers.
