Results from last night’s AEW Dynamite and NXT are straight ahead in this update but first… (STINGER: AEW) A BIG announcement from AEW earlier in the day Wednesday. It announced the signing of Paul Wight - better known as the Big Show. AEW says Wight will join the commentary team alongside Tony Shiavone for a new YouTube show: AEW Dark: Elevation. It was also mentioned on Dynamite that Wight is licensed to wrestle in AEW. Wight is set to appear on next week’s Dynamite. The new weekly show will debut on Monday, March 15th at 7PM. Also on Wednesday, Tony Khan tweeted that a second AEW show for TNT or another WarnerMedia outlet is still in the works for sometime this year. Lance Archer is in the 6-man Ladder Match at Revolution, where the winner gets a shot at the TNT Championship. Archer beat Rey Fenix in the main event of last night’s Dynamite. Another spot in that match will be decided on next Wednesday’s Dynamite - when Dark Order’s Preston “10” Vance faces the Acclaimed’s Max Caster. We also got two new matches announced for Revolution on Sunday, March 7th. Orange Cassidy & Chuck Taylor vs. Miro vs. Kip Sabian...and a Tag Team Casino Battle Royal - with the winner getting a shot at the AEW Tag Team Championships. It took TWO Beast Bombs, but Nyla Rose was able to beat Dr. Britt Baker last night. Rose advances to the U.S. final in the Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament - next Wednesday against the winner of Riho vs. Thunder Rosa. No one is safe on Dynamite! First, The Young Bucks’ DAD was attacked and bloodied backstage by Chris Jericho and MJF. Papa Buck was taken away in an ambulance. Sting dragged a body bag out on stage to confront Team Taz - and revealed an unconscious HOOK inside. Darby Allin rode a zipline from the upper deck down to the ring...and Darby and Sting ran wild on Team Taz - Sting laid out Cage with a Stinger Splash and a Scorpion Death Drop. Before that, Cage and Ricky Starks did beat the Varsity Blonds. Hangman Page beat Isiah Kassidy. Page got an assist from Dark Order’s John Silver and Alex Reynolds. After the match, Matt Hardy vowed revenge against Dark Order, and got an immediate start on that...by tossing Alan Angels off the stage. Jon Moxley blew through Ryan Nemeth. AEW Champ Kenny Omega was only seen in a brief backstage segment - in a workshop - apparently helping to build something related to the Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match between him and Mox at Revolution. (STINGER: WWE) Adam Cole promised an explanation...for his recent attacks on Kyle O’Reilly and Finn Balor - but we didn’t really get on. Instead, we got an emotional and apparently remorseful Cole at the end of last night’s NXT. Don’t worry. Cole did eventually show his true colors. But first, he was interrupted by Roderick Strong. Who was himself interrupted by Balor - who ran through Strong to get at Cole. Cole and Strong worked together to get the better of Balor. Then, Strong clotheslined Cole. Only problem is...Strong seemed to regret it. That allowed Cole to draw him in for a low blow, rip the Undisputed Era chain off Strong’s neck...and hit him with a superkick. Earlier, WWE announced that Kyle O’Reilly will be out of action for 4-6 weeks following Cole’s attack on him last week. Dexter Lumis submitted North American Champion Johnny Gargano in a non-title match last night. Io Shirai is set to defend the NXT Women’s Championship in two weeks...against Toni Storm. Shirai beat Zoey Stark in a non-title match last night. The No Disqualification Match between Karrion Kross and Santos Escobar was more like a handicap match - as Kross battled all three members of Legado Del Fantasmo, starting in the notorious NXT parking lot...before making their way back inside the Capital Wrestling Center...where Kross finally put away Escobar. A tag title match on today’s NXT UK. Gallus defends against Pretty Deadly. Also, Xia Brookside vs. Nina Samuels. The loser will become the winner’s personal assistant for a month. WWE officially announced the largest class of recruits in the history of the Performance Center on Wednesday. Some of the names have already debuted on NXT TV - including LA Knight, the former Eli Drake. Others were widely reported and rumored - but only now confirmed by WWE - including Taya Valkyrie and Blake Christian. (STINGER: New Japan) The last stop on New Japan’s Road To Castle Attack this morning. The main event this morning is Junior Tag Title Match - El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori defending against El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru. Tetsuya Naito is BACK on the card for the first time since he was sidelined with a knee injury early last week. He’ll be part of a 6-m

Santos Escobar must face Karrion Kross in a No Disqualification Match. If he doesn’t GM William Regal says he’ll strip Escobar of his cruiserweight championship and suspend him. Some matches just announced yesterday - North American Champion Johnny Gargano vs. Dexter Lumis… And NXT Women’s Champ Io Shirai will face Zoey Stark Plus, the Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Drake Maverick and Killian Dane...and Xia Li vs. Kacy Catanzaro Samoa Joe is now a regular on the Raw announce team - but he’s still hoping to make an in-ring return from a lengthy injury absence.. (Samoa Joe Injury Update) Joe speaking with SK Wrestling. He declined to share a timetable for any possible return. Joe has been sidelined since he reportedly struck his head during a commercial shoot last February. (STINGER: AEW) AEW’’s Tony Khan discussing the future of the Forbidden Door on Tuesday. (Khan On Forbidden Door) Khan speaking on Tuesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio. Tonight’s Dynamite is LIVE with Rey Fenix vs. Lance Archer in the main event. The winner gets a spot in the 6-man ladder match at Revolution where the winner will get a shot at the TNT Championship. The Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament rolls on tonight. We’ll get a semifinal match from the U.S. side of the bracket - Dr. Britt Baker vs. Nyla Rose. Brian Cage and Ricky Starks vs. the Varsity Blondes… Hangman Page vs. Isiah Kassidy. Jon Moxley vs. Ryan Nemeth Nemeth BEAT Aaron Solow on last night’s Dark. PRETTY Peter Avalon and Cezar Bononi were out to watch the match...and all three joined forces for a post-match beatdown on Solow before QT Marshall, Lee Johnson and Nick Comoroto ran them off. Brooke Havok, in only her second-ever match in AEW, tore her ACL midway through her match against LEGIT Leyla Hirsch. Havok finished the match, but did take the loss. Kip Sabian returned to ring action for the first time early December. He beat Fuego Del Sol And KiLynn King beat Tesha Price (STINGER: Impact) The long-simmering feud between Impact World Champ Rich Swann and Moose will finally come to a head. They’ll finally meet one-on-one at the Impact Plus exclusive Sacrifice show on March 13th. Moose’s TNA World Championship is once again a recognized championship in Impact Wrestling. Scott D’Amore made that announcement at the top of last night’s show...after Moose attacked Jake Something. He had just won a Tables Match against Deaner. D’Amore ordered Moose to defend his TNA Title against Jake in the main event. Moose did prevail in that match. Also added to Sacrifice - Jordynne Grace and Jazz will challenge Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz for the Knockouts Tag Titles Grace and Jazz earned the shot by beating Kimber Lee and Susan. After the match, Grace and Jazz found ODB beat up backstage. Chris Bey, Ace Austin and Black Taurus beat the team of Willie Mack, Trey Miguel and Josh Alexander in a 6-man tag...when Bey pinned Mack. The winning side of Bey, Austin and Taurus will now face one another in a 3-way on NEXT week’s Impact. The winner of that match gets a shot at the X-Division Title held by TJP. MLW announced Tuesday it signed Leo Brien to a long-term contract. He’s been appearing on Fusion recently as part of the tag team the Dirty Blondes. Let’s get right into the results from last night. We have a new WWE Champion! It was NONE of the men in the main event at Elimination Chamber last night. Let’s break down what happened. Randy Orton was the first man out of the match for the WWE Championship. Kofi Kingston surprised him with a rollup. The final three were Drew McIntyre, Sheamus and AJ Styles. Sheamus hit the Brogue Kick on McIntyre but Styles surprised Sheamus with the Phenomenal Forearm and pinned Sheamus. Styles went for another Phenomenal Forearm to McIntyre- but was met in midair with a Claymore and McIntyre got the win. BUT we’re not done. After the match...Bobby Lashley ambushed McIntyre, beat him down for a while...and then, out came The Miz. He cashed in his Money In The Bank contract...and the match was on! McIntyre kicked out of a DDT. But the Skull Crushing Finale...got the THREE and Miz is the NEW WWE Champion - NINE YEARS after his first reign as WWE Champ ended. (Miz Is WWE Champ) Daniel Bryan won the SmackDown Chamber match, earning a shot at the Universal Championship. Roman Reigns immediately came out and beat Bryan in less than a minute. After the match, Edge came out of nowhere to SPEAR Reigns - pointed at the WrestleMania sign. WWE later made it official. It will be Reigns vs. Edge for the Universal Title at Mania. Keith Lee was pulled from the U.S. Title 3-way at Elimination Chamber...just hours before the show. A 4-way match was put together on the kickoff show between John Morrison, Mustafa Ali, Ricochet and Elias...to fill the vacancy. During the match, members of Retribution powerbombed Ricochet into the ringpost - but that did more harm than good for them. Ali got caught watching the attack by John Morrison who rolled him up for the win. So it was Bobby Lashley defending the U.S. title against Morrison and Riddle. MVP was out with Lashley - using a crutch to get around...and that would come into play...as Riddle used it to take Lashley out of the equation and pinned Morrison to win the U.S. Title. Nia Jax PINNED the SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks...as Jax and Shayna Baszler turned away the challenge of Banks and Bianca Belair for the women’s tag titles. Carmella’s sommelier Reginald showed up at ringside at the end of the match, and tried to pass a champagne bottle to Banks. That distraction was enough for Jax to get a Samoan Drop on Banks for the pin. This is the last WWE pay per view before NBC Universal’s Peacock streaming service becomes the exclusive home of the WWE Network in the U.S. That will happen on March 18th. WWE’s website says it’s still finalizing the details of how current subscribers will be transitioned to Peacock. WWE says it expects to have more details to share in March. (STINGER: AEW) AEW’s Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament rolls on tonight. AEW’s YouTube channel will broadcast four matches starting tonight at 7PM. We’ll get both semifinal contests from the Japan side of the bracket - Yuka Sakazaki vs. Emi Sakura and Aja King vs. Ryo Mizunami. Also, the final two first round matches from the U.S. side of the bracket - Dr. Britt Baker vs. Anna Jay and Tay Conti vs. Nyla Rose. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan is back at Korakuen Hall this morning for another Road To Castle Attack show. Hiromu Takahashi was pulled from the show early Monday due to a shoulder injury. He was also scratched on Saturday. New Japan had already pulled Tetsuya Naito from the show. He’s been out since suffering a knee injury last Tuesday. Results from Saturday night’s Bloodsport 5 show are straight ahead in this update but first... WWE is closing a significant chapter in its history as it presents Elimination Chamber tonight. Two matches will be held inside the Chamber itself. Drew McIntyre defends the WWE Championship against Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Kofi Kingston, Jeff Hardy and Sheamus, who will be the final man to enter the Chamber. He earned that right by winning a gauntlet match on last Monday’s Raw - pinning McIntyre to seal the win. The Chamber match from SmackDown has Kevin Owens, Cesaro, Daniel Bryan, Jey Uso, King Corbin and Sami Zayn battling for a Universal Title match against Roman Reigns later in the show. Also announced for tonight - Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax defend the women’s tag team titles against Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair. Plus, Bobby Lashley defends the U.S. Title in a 3-way against Keith Lee and Riddle. WWE’s website is still listing a Raw Women’s Title match between Asuka and Lacey Evans. Though that would seem to be impossible since Evans announced on Monday’s Raw that she’s pregnant. In the United States, this is the final pay per view on the current incarnation of the WWE Network. Peacock takes over the exclusive streaming rights to WWE Network in the U.S. on March 18. The first pay per view of The Peacock Era is Fastlane on March 21st. Adam Cole tweeted Saturday that he’ll “explain everything” on Wednesday’s NXT...and he added “it’s a lot more than just “why”...” Also, William Regal says he’s raising the stakes for the match between Karrion Kross and Santos Escobar on NXT. It’ll now be a No Disqualification Match. If Escobar is a no-show, he’ll be stripped of his Cruiserweight Championship and suspended. (STINGER: New Japan) More unwelcome news from New Japan’s Castle Attack tour. IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champ Hiromu Takahashi was pulled from Saturday’s Road To show. New Japan announced he suffered a shoulder injury during the main event of Friday’s show. Takahashi is still on the card for Monday’s show. New Japan has officially pulled Tetsuya Naito from Monday’s show. He’s been sidelined since he suffered a knee injury on last Tuesday’s show. Naito is still scheduled to challenge Kota Ibushi for the IWGP Intercontinental Title a week from today. In case you missed this news...The Road To Castle Attack show originally scheduled for this morning was canceled due to earthquake damage to the arena where it was to be held. CIMA is the new ALL Japan World Jr. Heavyweight Champion. He dethroned Koji Iwamoto on Saturday. Jon Moxley and Josh Barnett will clash at “Bloodsport 6”...during WrestleMania week in Tampa. Every year, we bring together fans, wrestlers and other folks. Our goal is to construct the BEST WrestleMania card that’s currently possible. Everyone under a WWE contract is eligible to use, as are those who are within the orbit of WWE’s influence. If Vince McMahon can do it, we can do it! If you’re just tuning in, here’s how we got to this point. Mayhem Mania 2021 – Opening Round Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 1 Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 2 Not every WWE wrestler is eligible to use. Under the rules of Mayhem Mania, everyone comes in their current physical, emotional and contractual state. That means anyone out with an injury is NOT eligible to use. (We are ignoring COVID-19 diagnoses because this is supposed to be a fun diversion, not a reminder of the terrible things happening around us.) Others are not eligible to use for a different reason. Some of them are locked in SPACE JAIL. “Cell numbers” correspond with the numbers on our prize wheel SPACE JAIL is not a life sentence. A lucky spin of our prize wheel can free one of them, and that’s exactly what happened before Round 3. The prize wheel freed Ric Flair. There’s no “double jeopardy” so anyone who escapes can not be locked up again during Mayhem Mania 2021. 5 players were invited onto the Wrestling Mayhem Show for Round 2 of Mayhem Mania 2021. That’s when viewers saw a video promoting New Japan’s Juice Robinson and David Finlay, complete with New Japan footage and the company logo. Impact later announced that both Robinson and Finlay will be IN the Impact Zone on Tuesday night’s Impact Wrestling. The Good Brothers are still the Impact tag team champions after a 3-way on last night’s show...involving AEW’s Private Party and James Storm & Chris Sabin. Karl Anderson used a blind tag to steal the pinfall on Storm from Marq Quen. Matt Hardy was NOT happy with the result. Rich Swann beat Tommy Dreamer to retain the Impact World Championship. Moose attacked both of them after the match. TJP survived an extended pre-match ambush by Rohit Raju...and got the win to hold onto the X-Division Championship. The new #1 contender for the X-Division title is...Josh Alexander. He bested seven other men in the first-ever Triple Threat Revolver Match. Alexander put away Ace Austin for the decisive pinfall. It’s an Impact Plus exclusive. Tommy Dreamer celebrates his 50th birthday with a shot at Rich Swann’s Impact World Championship. SmackDown set up its offering on Friday night. Six men will compete for a shot at Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship later that same night. Four of them earned their spots in the Chamber on Friday’s SmackDown. King Corbin and Sami Zayn beat Rey and Dominik Mysterio...and Daniel Bryan and Cesaro beat Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. Kevin Owens and Jey Uso will also be in the SmackDown Chamber match. Seth Rollins returned to SmackDown - entering to his old “Burn It Down” song - as wrestlers surrounded the ring. But it quickly became clear that Rollins’ days as “The Messiah” are not over yet. The wrestlers all left while Rollins was speaking. Cesaro was the last to leave, but that just left him open to be attacked from behind by Rollins. An Intercontinental Title match between Big E and Shinsuke Nakamura was interrupted by Apollo Crews, who caused a disqualification. 58-year-old Keiji Mutoh is the new GHC Heavyweight Champion. He ended Go Shizaki’s 400+ day reign in the main event of Pro-Wrestling NOAH’s big show at Budokan Hall Friday. The undercard saw Seiki Yoshioka defeat Daisuke Harada to win the GHC junior heavyweight champion. (STINGER: New Japan) Not much time to rest for New Japan after their “New Beginning” tour. The “Castle Attack” tour kicks off Sunday with the first “Road To” show. The main event is a 10-man elimination tag between Chaos vs. Bullet Club. Luchablog reports...areas in and around Mexico City will upgrade their health status to “orange” starting next week. That would allow promotions in that area to resume running shows - but still without any live fans in attendance. WrestleCon will be part of the WrestleMania week festivities in Tampa. Organizers announced a scaled-down convention with numerous COVID-19 safety protocols...along with virtual options for those who are unwilling or unable to attend. It must be Mayhem Mania season! Every year, we bring together fans, wrestlers and other folks. Our goal is to construct the BEST WrestleMania card that’s currently possible. Everyone under a WWE contract is eligible to use, as are those who are within the orbit of WWE’s influence. If Vince McMahon can do it, we can do it! If you’re just tuning in, here’s how we got to this point. Mayhem Mania 2021 – Opening Round Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 1 Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 2 Not every WWE wrestler is eligible to use. Under the rules of Mayhem Mania, everyone comes in their current physical, emotional and contractual state. That means anyone out with an injury is NOT eligible to use. (We are ignoring COVID-19 diagnoses because this is supposed to be a fun diversion, not a reminder of the terrible things happening around us.) Others are not eligible to use for a different reason. Some of them are locked in SPACE JAIL. “Cell numbers” correspond with the numbers on our prize wheel SPACE JAIL is not a life sentence. A lucky spin of our prize wheel can free one of them, and that’s exactly what happened before Round 3. The prize wheel freed Ric Flair. There’s no “double jeopardy” so anyone who escapes can not be locked up again during Mayhem Mania 2021. 5 players were invited onto the Wrestling Mayhem Show for Round 2 of Mayhem Mania 2021. Results from AEW Dynamite, MLW Fusion and Wednesday’s New Japan show are straight ahead in this update but first… (STINGER: WWE) Let’s get into last night’s NXT - the final stop before Sunday’s TakeOver: Vengeance Day show. We all knew this was a possibility when we reported on Austin Theory’s Twitter video about Johnny Gargano being out of Sunday’s TakeOver. Gargano showed up on last night’s NXT in a wheelchair, while claiming to have a broken arm. Kushida exposed that this was all a lie. It’s a miracle! Gargano’s North American Title defense against Kushida is still on for TakeOver. Kushida later beat Theory via disqualification. Gargano and Theory tried to beat up Kushida after the match, but they were foiled by Dexter Lumis. The finals in both Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournaments are now set for TakeOver. It’ll be MSK vs. the Grizzled Young Veterans in the men’s final. Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon will face Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez in the women’s final. NXT GM William Regal announced the winner of the women’s Dusty Classic will get a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships - currently held by Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. It was a rough night for Legado del Fantasmo. Not only did Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza lose to MSK in the Dusty Classic semifinals...they were laid out backstage by Karrion Kross. Kross has a match against Santos Escobar on next week’s NXT. Cameron Grimes returned to NXT...driving a Lamborghini...and making it rain in the Capital Wrestling Center. Grimes says he GOT RICH during his absence...by buying GameStop stock...and apparently cashing out before the bottom fell out. Meiko Satomura makes her NXT UK debut on today’s episode. We’re also getting a Street Fight - The Hunt vs. Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster. (STINGER: AEW) A big shakeup for the Inner Circle. Sammy Guervara QUIT the group on last night’s Dynamite. He delivered the news to Chris Jericho in the ring. After a backstage incident earlier in the night, where Sammy caught MJF trying to blackmail him, and laid him out. The main event of last night’s Dynamite was as wild as many expected. The Falls Count Anywhere match between Kenny Omega and KENTA...and Jon Moxley and Lance Archer...spilled out of the ringside area and into the Daily’s Place kitchen at one point. The end saw the Good Brothers interfere and help Omega put Archer down with the One Winged Angel for the pin. KENTA hit another GO 2 Sleep on Mox, who carried the IWGP United States Championship with him to the ring. Thunder Rosa beat LEGIT Leyla Hirsch in the first match in the Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament. AEW unveiled all the full bracket and slate of first round matches earlier in the day. First round matches from the Japan side of the bracket will be broadcast on AEW’s YouTube channel on Monday starting at 7PM. Next week’s Dynamite will have the first round match between Riho and Serena Deeb. Darby Allin beat Joey Janela to retain his TNT Championship. Later, Allin was shown stuffed in a body bag by Team Taz and then dragged behind their SUV. Cody Rhodes and Lee Johnson beat PRETTY Peter Avalon and Cezar Bononi after Johnson pinned Avalon. That snapped Johnson’s 0-29 record in AEW, and Tony Khan later tweeted that Johnosn is now officially signed with AEW. Matt Hardy and Hangman Page went to a bar, where Hardy convinced Page to sign a contract for something. Next Wednesday’s Dynamite will have the Young Bucks defending their tag titles against Santana and Ortiz. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan wrapping up its “New Beginning” show this morning with a big main event - Kota Ibushi defending the double gold against Sanada. There’s also some changes to Thursday’s card - including Hiromu Takahashi, Tetsuya Naito and BUSHI now facing El Phantasmo, Taiji Ishimori and Yujiro Takahashi. Hiromu retained his junior heavyweight title against SHO in the main event of Wednesday’s “New Beginning” show. After the match, El Phantasmo laid down a challenge for the junior title. But Hiromu said he won’t accept unless he and BUSHI get a shot at the junior tag titles held by ELP and Ishimori. There was a wild finish to the IWGP tag title match on Wednesday’s show. Taichi regained his stolen “Iron Finger Of Doom” but got disqualified when he used it against the Guerrillas Of Destiny. Pro-Wrestling NOAH is putting on one of its biggest shows in a while on Friday - returning to famed Budokan Hall for the first time in years. The main event is a battle of legendary names. Go Shiozaki - whose revival was one of 2020’s biggest success stories - defending the GHC Heavyweight Championship against the 58-year-old Keiji Mutoh. T

That’s if you believe Austin Theory. (Theory Gargano Out Of TakeOver) That clip from a video posted to Theory’s social media. He vowed to make Kushida pay on tonight’s NXT. Kushida was set for a North American title match against Gargano on Sunday. Also tonight, we’ll see THREE matches from the Dusty Classic tournaments. We’re getting both men’s semifinals - MSK vs. Legado del Fantasmo and the Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher. On the women’s side, Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart take on Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell. The winner gets Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez in the finals. Plus, the return of Cameron Grimes! (STINGER: AEW) The Forbidden Door is open for a huge main event on tonight’s Dynamite. KENTA teaming up with Kenny Omega...against Jon Moxley and Lance Archer for an Anything Goes/Falls Count Anywhere Match. Darby Allin defends his TNT Championship against Joey Janela. The first match in the Women’s World Title Eliminator Tournament - Thunder Rosa vs. LEGIT Leyla Hirsch. Plus, Pac vs. Ryan Nemeth, who is coming off (I guess?) an upset win over Marko Stunt on last night’s Dark. Nemeth got the pin after Stunt was distracted by FTR’s music suddenly being played during the match. You may recall Stunt was shown being ABDUCTED by FTR on last week’s Dynamite. Excalibur explained on commentary during Dark that Stunt told him FTR just let him go...as they were just trying to send a message. (STINGER: Impact) The tag title match at the Impact Plus exclusive “No Surrender” show Saturday night is now a 3-way. AEW’s Private Party caused a disqualification in last night’s main event - and possibly cost James Storm and Chris Sabin the Impact tag titles. As a result, the Good Brothers will now defend the belts against Private Party AND Storm and Sabin. ODB’s first match since returning to Impact was a loss to Kimber Lee, thanks to interference from Knockouts Champ Deonna Purrazzo and Susan. At No Surrender, ODB will team with Jordynne Grace and Jazz against Purrazzo, Kimber Lee and Susan. Cousin Jake showed his true colors. He rejected Eric Young’s offer to join Violent By Design - and went back to using his former name, Jake Something. He’ll face Deaner at No Surrender. Also added to No Surrender: Tasha Steelz and Kiera Hogan will defend the Knockouts Tag Titles against Havok and Neveah in a No Disqualification/Texas Tornado Match. The third member of Decay was introduced. It’s Black Taurus (tour-OOS). He’ll team with Rosemary and Crazzy Steve against Tenille Dashwood, Larry D and Acey Romero at No Surrender. In his weekly paid ad, AEW’s Tony Khan said HE is the “Forbidden Door” who had to open himself up to new experiences with Impact and New Japan. He also said he’ll be back in Nashville “sooner rather than later”. (Stinger: ROH) A pair of big announcements from Ring Of Honor, as it locks up the short- AND long-term future of its world champion. Rush will defend the title against Shane Taylor on the ROH TV episode airing the weekend of February 27th. The ROH tag titles will also be defended on that episode. ROH also announced Tuesday the re-signing of Rush and TV Champ Dragon Lee. Also, their father, Bestia del Ring, is now signed with the company. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan’s running big shows on back-to-back days. The first “New Beginning” show is happening this morning. Tomorrow...has the big main event of the tour - IWGP double champ Kota Ibushi defending against SANADA. Japanese women’s promotion Stardom announcing a Hair vs. Hair Match. That’ll be the stipulation for the upcoming showdown between Wonder Of Stardom Champ Giulia and Tam Nakano. It’ll happen at Stardom’s 10th Anniversary Show on March 3rd. Tonight’s MLW Fusion has a Winner Takes All Title Match between MLW Middleweight Champ Lio Rush and AAA Cruiserweight Champ Laredo Kid. Independent promotions are starting to roll out their WrestleMania week plans. But SHIMMER announced Tuesday it will NOT be among them. Results from last night’s Raw are straight ahead in this update but first… Authorities in Tampa, Florida are taking a hard look at how things were handled for the Super Bowl...and perhaps what needs to be different in just over two months...when WWE moves in for WrestleMania. The effectiveness of COVID-19 precautions at Raymond James Stadium and other NFL events will not be fully known for at least a couple weeks. But police and other officials are disappointed by what they saw AFTER the game. Victory celebrations saw many revelers maskless...and ignoring social distancing measures. Tampa’s police chief told WUSF Public Media...some businesses could see their liquor licenses suspended. Despite all that, Tampa’s mayor promised Monday that plans for a “safe” public celebration for the Buccaneers will be announced within the next couple days. Meanwhile, independent promotions started to roll out their Mania week plans on Monday. GCW will hold The Collective - April 8, 9 and 10th. It says all events will be held outdoors with numerous COVID-19 safety protocols. IWTV is running its “Showcase Of The Independents” over those same three nights. It seems like WWE is willing to open its doors to just about any music artist who wants in. Bad Bunny was back on Raw last night - helping Damien Priest score a win over Angel Garza - by outsmarting Garza’s new allies, The Miz and John Morrison. WWE exec Nick Khan told Forbes we’re going to be seeing a lot of Bad Bunny on WWE TV. Khan also told Forbes that WWE also has its eyes on getting Cardi B involved. Amid all this, rapper and actor Bow Wow has been tweeting about HIS own interest in getting inside a WWE ring. A couple other notes from that Forbes article - Khan said WWE is developing a number of animated properties to target younger viewers - some aiming for kids as young as 2 years old. Khan said WWE is also reexamining its gaming strategy. THREE title matches are now set for WWE’s Elimination Chamber show. The Chamber match itself will see Drew McIntyre defending the WWE Championship against Randy Orton, Sheamus, AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy and The Miz. McIntyre and Orton were in the main event of last night’s Raw. Sheamus showed up to ruin the match - and got a Claymore for his troubles. In another matchup of Chamber opponents last night - AJ Styles submitted Jeff Hardy. Royal Rumble winner Edge said last night he will not decide on his Mania title shot until after the Chamber. Lacey Evans “earned” herself a shot at Asuka’s RAW Women’s Championship...with a DQ win over Charlotte Flair. And that title match is now set for the Chamber. Rumble winner Bianca Belair was on Raw to let Asuka know she could be next...if Asuka gets through Evans. The third title match announced for Elimination Chamber is a triple threat for the U.S. Title. Bobby Lashley defending against Keith Lee and Riddle. Lee returned to Raw last night with a win over Riddle. After the match, Lashley laid waste to both guys. Lana beat Nia Jax in a tables match. The other half of the #1 contenders for the women’s tag titles Naomi then beat Shayna Baszler. The New Day beat T-Bar and Slapjack. But Xavier Woods’ pursuit of a match against Reckoning drags on. (STINGER: Impact) A tag title match set for tonight’s Impact Wrestling - the Good Brothers defending against James Storm and Chris Sabin. Those same titles will be defended against AEW’s Private Party at the Impact Plus Exclusive “No Surrender” show on Saturday. (STINGER: AEW) AEW announcing Monday the first match in its Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament will happen on Wednesday’s Dynamite - It’ll be LEGIT Leyla Hirsch vs. Thunder Rosa. Also added to Dynamite - Pac vs. Ryan Nemeth. Two wrestlers on the rise securing their places in AEW. Monday it was announced that Aaron Solow and Nick Comoroto have joined the Nightmare Family. Both men are in action on tonight’s AEW Dark. Solow is tagging with Lee Johnson against SCU. Tonight’s Dark also has Marko Stunt in action - less than a week after a video on Dynamite showed him being ABDUCTED by FTR. (STINGER: ROH) Ring Of Honor is releasing a new match today. It’ll be the ROH debut of Sledge, taking on O’Shay Edwards. That’s part of Ring Of Honor’s “Week By Week” YouTube show, which drops at 1PM. (STINGER: New Japan) The first of TWO major “New Beginning” shows for New Japan is coming up on Wednesday. Two title matches at the top of the card: IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi defending against SHO. Super Bowl 55 drawing extra attention from the pro wrestling world - not just because former 24/7 Champion Rob Gronkowski is part of the winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Last night’s big game at Raymond James Stadium provided some clues about what to expect when WrestleMania is held in that same stadium...coming up in April. More than 20,000 fans in attendance last night - That included 7,500 vaccinated healthcare workers. Some 30,000 cardboard cutouts were used to fill some of the empty seats. During its investor call last week, WWE said information on WrestleMania ticket availability and safety protocols is forthcoming. Speaking of the 24/7 Title...it changed hands during the Super Bowl weekend festivities. Former Super Bowl champ and Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie pinned R-Truth during a Celebrity Flag Football Game. Truth, of course, got his baby back not long after that - pinning Flutie to reclaim the title. Randy Orton is back in the main event on tonight’s Raw - battling WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. Tonight’s Raw is also promising a face-to-face confrontation between Charlotte Flair and Lacey Evans. Shaul Guerrero, the eldest daughter of hall of famer Eddie Guerrero, is stepping away from pro wrestling. She tweeted Sunday, “After a very scary mental illness crisis I am no longer advised by loved ones and professionals to participate in high stress events at this time.” (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan is holding two big “New Beginning” shows later this week - but first, one last “Road To” show this morning at Korakuen Hall. The main event previews upcoming title matches...with IWGP double champion Kota Ibushi and SHO vs. SANADA and junior heavyweight champ Hiromu Takahashi. Jay White is on this morning’s card - in a tag match opposite Hirooki Goto. New Japan says Goto was reprimanded for coming over the guardrail from his commentary position to attack White during the “Road To” show last Wednesday. The “Forbidden Door” is open - even it’s only cracked. New Japan’s Rocky Romero shed some light on the plan going forward for New Japan, AEW and Impact Wrestling. Masao Inoue is out due to COVID-19 test that revealed a possible infection. The tag match he was involved in has now been scrapped. It’ll be replaced by a singles match between Akitoshi Saito and Kinya Okada. Junta Miyawaki is sidelined with appendicitis. Daiki Inaba will take his place in a 6-man tag on the show. PWInsider says Sullivan was let go last month, but WWE did not confirm the move until Tuesday. WWE signed Sullivan back in 2013. He made his TV debut on NXT in 2017. He was called up to the main roster the following year - but his time with WWE after that was full of starts and stops...and revelations of offensive comments and behavior before he was signed. Sullivan ended up having only FIVE matches on WWE’s main roster. His final one was last October. There’s been no comment from Sullivan. Royal Rumble winner Edge is keeping busy this week. He’ll appear on tonight’s NXT. WWE is also promoting Edge for Friday’s SmackDown. THREE matches in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournaments are also set for tonight’s NXT. Just days after he welcomed his first child, Joaquin Wilde teams with Raul Mendoza to take on Lucha House Party. Another quarterfinal will see Adam Cole & Roderick Strong vs. Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher. On the women’s side - Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai face Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter. Santos Escobar is set to defend HIS cruiserweight title against Curt Stallion. Are you ready for Xavier Woods vs. Reckoning? Woods put out the challenge on Monday’s Raw Talk. He’s 2-2 against Retribution members and he says this is the way to settle the “Best of 5” series. Reckoning said she would accept the challenge...and Adam Pearce added more fuel to the fire by tweeting Tuesday he’d “run it up the flagpole”. (STINGER: AEW) AEW Dynamite is LIVE tonight with its Beach Break special. There’s a late change...and a late addition to the card. FTR is OUT of the tag team battle royal. AEW said it’s due to their conduct during and after last Wednesday’s Jungle Boy vs. Dax Harwood match. They’ll be replaced by John Silver and Alex Reynolds. The battle royal will decide who gets a shot at the Young Bucks’ tag titles at the Revolution pay per view. Let’s get right into it. Last night’s Royal Rumble gave us two history-making winners. 11 years to the day after he won his first Rumble, Edge won it again...and became only the third man to win the Rumble from the #1 spot. Edge is the 8th man to win the Rumble multiple times. The 11 year gap between his victories is the second longest EVER. Randy Orton was there at the beginning - and there at the end - but absent for just about everything else. Orton was the #2 entrant. He and Edge opened the Rumble with a wild brawl that ended up sending Orton backstage for “medical attention”. He didn’t return until the VERY end of the Rumble...only to be the final elimination that sealed Edge’s victory. The men’s Rumble also saw some surprising returns. The biggest has to be Edge’s former tag team partner Christian, who nearly lasted until the very end. Injuries forced Christian into retirement in 2014. Although he did work a very brief, low-contact “unsanctioned” match against Orton last June. Carlito was back, returning to WWE TV for the first time in over a decade. Kane was back - his 20th career Rumble appearance - by far the most ever in WWE history. Kane also eliminated 2 men - extending his record for career Rumble eliminations. Hurricane Helms also made a surprise return. Seth Rollins returned Damien Priest was the lone NXT talent in the men’s Rumble. Priest, Rollins and Big E tied for the most eliminations in the men’s Rumble - with four apiece .. AJ Styles’ bodyguard Omos eliminated two men without even entering the match. In the women’s Rumble, Bianca Belair delivered a dramatic, emotional victory. (Belair Rumble Win) That clip from WWE’s social media. It may be time to crown Belair the Queen of the Royal Rumble. Last night, she set the record for the longest time in a single women’s Rumble - at more than 56 minutes. She also shares the record for the most eliminations in a single Rumble. She and Shayna Baszler both eliminated 8 women last year. The last woman eliminated by Belair last night was Rhea Ripley, who had seven eliminations - the most in either Rumble last night. Ripley wasn’t the only surprise entrant. Naomi returned to WWE TV in the #2 spot...and lasted more than 47 minutes. Lana was also back. Some other notable returns - Victoria and Jillian Hall - both back in a WWE ring for the first time in over a DECADE. Mickie James... Torrie Wilson… and Alicia Fox - who actually WON the 24/7 Championship from R-Truth DURING the women’s Rumble...only to lose it back to him moments later. The 24/7 title changed hands AGAIN later in the night...as Kickoff Show panelist Peter Rosenberg surprised R-Truth. Universal Champ Roman Reigns looked like a beaten man in his Last Man Standing match against Kevin Owens. The two gave fans a look at just about every corner of the ThunderDome as they brawled all over the place. It looked like Reigns was done when Owens handcuffed him to a beam, but Reigns knocked out the referee just before he could reach the count of 10...got some help from Paul Heyman in escaping..and choked out Owens moments later. WWE Champ Drew McIntyre got through Goldberg in a trim two and a half minutes to retain his title. Sasha Banks beat Carmella to hold onto her SmackDown women’s title. On the Kickoff Show...Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler dethroned Asuka and Charlotte Flair to reclaim the women’s tag team titles. The difference was some late interference by Ric Flair and Lacey Evans, who knocked out Charlotte with a foreign object. Finally, a quick mention that New Japan is running a “Road To The New Beginning” show this morning. It’ll see the first appearances on the tour for The Guerrillas of Destiny and Dangerous Tekkers. A promo video aired on Thursday’s show, and Satomura made it clear she’s coming for Kay Lee Ray’s UK women’s championship. Pretty Deadly - Sam Stoker and Lewis Howley - are the new #1 contenders for the NXT UK tag titles. They won a 4-way elimination match - with some help from Eddie Dennis, who was supposed to be banned from ringside. Also, Trent Seven said he plans to drop some weight and challenge for Jordan Devlin’s cruiserweight title. Circling back to this past Wednesday, Tegan Nox shared an update on her recovery from major knee surgery. (Tegan Nox Injury Update) Nox has been out of action since September, when suffered a torn ACL - her THIRD major knee ligament injury since 2017. (STINGER: New Japan) Lio Rush will make his New Japan Strong debut on tonight’s show. He’ll team with Fred Rosser and TJP to take on the Bullet Club team of KENTA, El Phantasmo and Hikuleo. Also, Chris Dickinson, who just made his New Japan debut a few weeks ago will take on Rocky Romero. Back in Japan, one of the BIG shows of The New Beginning Tour goes down Saturday morning. Shingo Takagi defends the NEVER Title against Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event. Plus, Will Ospreay vs. Satoshi Kojima - NO DISQUALIFICATION...and Great-O-Khan vs. Hiroyoshi Tenzan - the loser there will no longer be permitted to use the Mongolian Chop! (STINGER: AEW) A new match added to AEW’s Beach Break special next Wednesday - A rematch between Lance Archer and Eddie Kingston - only this time it’ll be a Lumberjack Match! (STINGER: Impact) Alex Shelley shed some more light on why he’s been absent from Impact TV since just before the Hard To Kill pay per view. Shelley said it’s due to tighter COVID-19 restrictions at his OTHER job as a physical therapy clinician. He said he won’t return to Impact until he’s vaccinated. I thought that referee on Wednesday’s MLW Fusion looked familiar. It was disgraced former NBA ref Tim Donaghy, making his first appearance in a pro wrestling ring. Donaghy cost Savio Vega the Carribean Heavyweight Championship by blocking Vega’s path to victory in a Carribean Strap Match against Richard Holliday. Donaghy served time in federal prison for his role in a gambling scandal in which he conspired to FIX NBA games. GCW’s 24-hour independent pro wrestling marathon, Fight Forever, kicks off tonight at 8PM It’s streaming for free on both FITE TV and YouTube. Promoters are hoping to raise $50,000 for the wrestlers. Results from Monday night’s Raw and Ring of Honor’s weekend TV are straight ahead in this update but first… This is the end of the WWE Network as we know it. WWE announcing Monday that NBC Universal’s Peacock streaming service will become the exclusive home of the WWE Network in the United States. WWE says Peacock will launch its version of the network on March 18, and start rolling out 17,000 hours of WWE content - old, new, documentaries and more - along with ALL WWE pay-per-views. The first of the Peacock Era will be Fastlane on March 21. Many of the network’s 1.1 million existing subscribers in the U.S. have a lot of questions. Details are a little slim at the moment. WWE says it will have more to say about how it will handle those accounts as we get closer to the Peacock launch in March. But here’s the bottom line as WWE is laying it out - the Network will be available on Peacock Premium, which costs $4.99 a month. There’s also an ad-free Peacock Premium PLUS that you can get for $9.99 a month. The deal between WWE and NBCU is reportedly worth $1 billion dollars over the next five years. Also Monday, WWE announced it expects to report a record operating income for 2020 - of $209 million dollars. That same announcement also discussed live fan attendance during the COVID-19 pandemic. WWE said it expects to see “cancellation, postponement or reduced capacity” at live events through at least June. New Royal Rumble entrants announced Monday...and the biggest name is Edge...who announced on last night’s Raw that will return for the first time since he was injured during “The Greatest Match Ever” against Randy Orton back in June. Also now entered in the Rumble: Mustafa Ali, Sheamus and John Morrison. Some added sizzle for the return of WWE Backstage this weekend. WWE promoting that the 30th entrant in the men’s Rumble...and the #1 and #2 entrants in the women’s Rumble will be revealed during that show, which airs Saturday night. WWE announced Monday that Charlotte Flair and Asuka will defend their women’s tag titles at the Rumble...against Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Also announced for the Rumble, Bad Bunny will perform his song “Booker T”, inspired by the wrestling legend of the same name. The Superstar Spectacle, WWE’s special event for fans in India, airs this morning on the WWE Network.
