Ep 295EP 183: Megstar’s Recovery Story - Irish Exit
E"The Irish exit. The irony of this title is that prior to being sober I was known in my big drinking days for making Irish exits on a regular basis. Mainly because I wanted to keep myself from looking like a fool. This, my most recent “Irish exit” has been FROM drinking and has done anything but left me feeling like a fool. It has enabled me to feel proud strong and capable. Urban Dictionary describes it as “the departure from any event without telling any friends, associates or acquaintances that one is leaving. It is almost always the result of being very inebriated/intoxicated.” That is an excerpt from the amazing book Megstar is writing about addiction. Megstar! Thank you so much for joining me! ESober Baddies - Cultivating Contentment with Lisa Chapin Guest hosts Sara Malloy and Elaine Skylar Neal talk with Lisa Chapin, a Licensed Addiction & Professional Counselor, about chasing happiness and cultivating contentment in everyday life. Sometimes happiness can feel like a far-off and unattainable place, and we can fall into a trap of thinking, "I'll be happy when THIS ONE THING occurs." Except when we get this one thing, it doesn't make us any happier. Why is this? Lisa Chapin breaks this down for us, taking us back to the roots of where these notions come from, and how living in a constant state of happiness isn't an ideal we should be striving for. About Lisa Chapin: Lisa Chapin is a Licensed Addiction & Professional Counselor (LAC, LPC) who completed her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Colorado at Denver. She is a contributing editor to Marriage.com and a provider for the Give An Hour organization which services the military and veteran community. Her professional experience includes military intelligence, corporate business management, and organizational change and coaching. Lisa enjoys working in a variety of areas with specialties in addictions and trauma. Her approach is down to earth and direct, yet compassionate and caring. All of her treatment approaches are personalized and based on sound scientific models of human behavior and established methods of psychotherapy. Lisa was born and raised in North Dakota and now lives in Colorado with her partner where they enjoy spending time with their children, granddaughter, and two active, mischievous dogs. She enjoys running, hiking, and spending time in the mountains. Ep 244EP 134: Author of “Everything You Ever Taught Me” sits with Imust
EImust interviews Person Irresponsible, Author of "Everything You Ever Taught Me": If you've a lot on your mind, go for a walk... Person Irresponsible: Female. Aged 46. Average height. Large rear. In the midst of a mid-life crisis. It probably began when I was about four. Hoping I'll overcome it one day. Can't afford a Ferrari, and I can't be bothered with an affair. I bought a quad-bike instead but then I sold that when I buggered off to America for six months to live in the wilderness. Got into the recovery gig aged 41, almost by accident. So I'm now *that* boring divorcee, teetotaller, vegetarian and cat owner that absolutely no one wants to invite to their dinner parties. Anyway, I wrote a book about walking from Mexico to Canada, whilst trying to stay sane during a pandemic. Please buy it - the cat is also in the throes of a mid-life crisis, as well as an existential one - probably since he was born. Vet bills are costly. For pictures of my trip go to www.mlconquad.com Note well - no longer skinny like the bio picture implies. Thank you. No Sippy No Slippy. Not Another Drop No matter What.
