This is where he realized the importance and impact of good leadership. He also does business coaching to help others with their personal and business growth.Dr. Trevor deals with his ADHD by being active and having many interests.[06:16] Applying Good Leadership at HomeDr. Trevor is a father to three daughters. He found that leadership at home is different from leading a business. There needs to be a different style of leadership to face more difficult challenges.Dr. Trevor wanted to learn from experts about common leadership behaviors. That is how his book came to be.As a researcher, all his information is backed by science.Dr. Trevor admits that applying the practices in his book isn’t easy in daily life. However, knowing the ideal is the first step.[09:12] “Taking [leadership behaviors] and using them every single day, actively, isn't necessarily an easy thing. It's an ideal we set up for ourselves and each of us individually have our own cross to bear in terms of the things that we struggle with, and the areas where we're not as strong.” - Click Here to Tweet This[10:54] The Meaning of Character, Morality, and TruthCharacter, Morality, and Truth are the words in Dr. Trevor’s mission statement. These values factor into his ideal world.Dr. Trevor believes that there is one truth that is given by God. It teaches us how to live our lives. He strives to achieve these ideals despite his failings. He envisions a better world for the people he loves. [13:21] Measuring the IdealsThese three ideals are measured subjectively.Look at a person’s authenticity to measure truth. As you open yourself up to new ideas and knowledge, be curious and find proof about a stance. For character and morality, their measurements are much more relative. In a way, we recognize them when we see them.[15:54] The Current State of LeadershipDr. Trevor thinks for quite some time our most visible leaders have also been lacking in character. Since we use them as a barometer for what is acceptable, we have a real problem on our hands. He sees the exact opposite in his community, where leaders of small businesses prioritize the people: their employees and families. Our society has created a situation where our top leaders do not align with our long-term ideals.[19:51] The Evolution of LeadershipRick, Dr. Trevor’s father, started his own business from the ground up. He maintained a tough, authoritarian approach to leadership.Rick’s style of leadership can be traced back to his father, who gave off an intense, alpha stance. It’s only recently that the concept of servant leadership became popular. Many people responded well to the idea of the person at the top being the servant of the organization.Shepherd leadership is an idea where leaders pave the way forward while protecting and serving their people. For Dr. Trevor, the role of a leader has evo

Learning to Listen to God’s Voice with Cherlyn Decker

Are you going through a difficult time in your life, wherein you lose your sense of purpose and identity? Sometimes, we may feel like we have lost control of some aspects of our lives, be it in our careers or relationships. As overwhelming as these situations may be, don’t despair. These are chances for us to fully put our trust in the Lord and learn to listen to God’s voice. In this episode, we talk to Cherlyn Decker, an author, inspirational speaker, and faith coach. She graciously shares her journey filled with trials and challenges. Along the way, she realized that God provides her with opportunities and blessings to transform and flourish. Now, she is with us to share her experiences in her deep relationship with God. Listen to the episode to learn how to listen to God’s voice, so you will never get lost in your life’s journey.3 Reasons to Listen:Discover how you can find strength and courage when you rest in God in times of tribulations. Find out why independence is fear. Understand how to tune into God’s voice and trust His providence. ResourcesSubscribe to our website to get resources from our guests and receive updates on our latest giveaways and episodes.Check out our previous Seek Go Create episodes: Embracing and Overcoming Challenges in Life with Christopher GrecoCheck out Tim’s debut novel entitled Coach: A Story of Success Redefined!Graham Cooke — Brilliant PerspectivesConnect with Cherlyn: websiteGet a free declaration to begin your breakthrough and check out Cherlyn’s book here!Episode DetailsEpisode Highlights[04:08] What Cherlyn Does and What Leadership Means to Her She helps leaders and entrepreneurs experience and lead from God’s voice, so they can show up for those they are called to serve. For Cherlyn, leaders help other people achieve their best. They recognize what’s hampering others from moving forward. [06:05] The Pivotal Moment in Cherlyn’s JourneyA phone call and the words: ‘I’m sorry, your position has been eliminated’ changed Cherlyn’s life forever. She had always known in her mind that God was her provider. When she lost her income, she had to let God show her that. Even before she got laid off, she was unhappy. She heard a voice inside her to go look for herself elsewhere. However, she was sure that it was not God’s voice speaking to her then.[12:10] Learning to Listen to God’s VoiceJust like how we know if we ran a red light, we know when we are being disobedient to God. In these situations, we have to trust God to shine a light on our paths and correct our disobedience. One person in the Bible who always listened to God’s voice was David. Even though he was mighty, he always asked the Lord’s guidance on when to engage with his enemies. Whenever we ask for guidance, He may say yes, no, or nothing at all. When we don’t receive a response, we simply have to wait until we hear God’s voice. When Cherlyn does not hear God’s voice, she continues to walk in peace towards where He led her before until He tells her to stop. [15:30] Cherlyn’s Christian BackgroundCherlyn grew up in a Christian household. This environment served as the foundation for her faith in God. However, that did not mean that she led a life without difficulties. Like what Paul tells us in his Epistles, we are to expect trials. But when we look to God in times of tribulation, we can find His goodness and peace. Even though Cherlyn does not like going through trials, these strengthened and sharpened her. They also solidified her faith. As a teenager, the relationships she had with her peers in their church were unhealthy. Luckily, she was able to find a different church youth group with whom she could bond. [21:14] Cherlyn’s RealizationsThe word of God is our weapon. While their church taught her to study the scriptures, she didn’t understand how to use it as her sword of truth back then. However, her denomination gave her building blocks and allowed her to have a good relationship with the Holy Spirit, who is the best teacher there is.God’s voice led her to the tools she needed to equip herself in the world.Looking back, Cherlyn now sees how God used the good, bad, and ugly in her life to transform her. [24:16] “Our past is not meant to be punishment. Our past is meant to point us to what God wants to teach us so that we can make changes and do things the way He wants us to do them moving forward.” - Click Here to Tweet This[29:08] God’s ProvidenceCherlyn had to learn how to let go of something when God asks because He has something greater planned. We, as 21st century Christians, have a distorted view of what blessings look like from God. We have to trust that everything God provides is good, and if there’s something that does not come from Him, we need to question it.[34:01] Learning to Trust GodIndependence is fear of letting God take charge. In the areas where God had not given her stewardship, Cherl

Because he was in control of everything, he felt he was doing great in life.He used to put up a lot of barriers to keep people at a distance. He only presented the happy and successful version of himself to others. Now, Ken is more comfortable because he goes with the flow and doesn’t stress about it.[18:10] Getting Into BusinessKen’s trajectory was pretty straightforward. Growing up, he saw how comfortable his uncle, a financial advisor, was. So, that’s what he wanted to become. His uncle set up his path towards inheriting his practice. His family had a construction business. Being closer to it growing up, he saw all of its ups and downs. Whereas, he never really saw the bad side of his uncle’s venture. Additionally, he is naturally inclined towards numbers and money so it made sense to go after finance. [20:18] The Origin of Platinum Wealth GroupHis family had a falling out during his graduate school days. Due to the family separation, his uncle never talked to him again.Ken was at a crossroads where he could choose to continue his set financial path without the help of his uncle, or do something else. He chose the latter. With hard work, Ken moved up the ranks of a corporation. There, he worked in various fields, including retirement plans, 401k’s, and IRAs. One of his colleagues thought that they were doing too much. So, they went out on their own and niched down on 1031 exchanges. The 1031 exchange is a mechanism to sell real estate, purchase another piece of real estate, and defer the tax. Tune in to the full episode to hear more about this topic![28:21] Dealing with the Falling Out Aftermath Ken had no control over his family’s separation and the consequences that came after. While he planned his goals for the next five to ten years, these fell through when his family’s situation happened. He felt it was a waste if he didn’t continue because he already got the necessary degrees and the passion for finance.[29:42] Niching Down to 1031 ExchangeKen always focused on the alternatives, including 1031 exchanges. He and his partner believed it could help people, so they chose to niche down in this field. Currently, Congress is discussing limiting the gain you could defer to half a million dollars. This move can hurt the industry in general.S

A Mixtape About the Meaning of Life

We can think of life in terms of a game. You win some, you lose some. But winning is different for each of us. For some, it may look like amassing wealth. For others, it may be finding success in their careers. Whatever yours may be, the first thing we all need to do is think about the meaning of life so that we can turn our efforts into fulfilling our purpose. In this solo episode, Tim talks about the people, shows, and books that have inspired him as of late. As he grows older, he finds that he has more questions rather than answers. He dives deep into these questions today, taking us into his mixtape about the meaning of life. He wraps up his reflections with a reminder to allow God to steer us into finding our true assignment and being in a state of peace. If you’re on a quest to find meaning in life, then this episode is for you! 3 Reasons to Listen:Ponder about the meaning of life through books, TV shows, and a board game.Understand why you should determine your assignment in life.Be inspired to be in a state of peace, rest, and Sabbath. ResourcesSubscribe to our website to get resources from our guests and receive updates on our latest giveaways and episodes.Seek Go Create Podcast: How to Build Immunity to the Virus of ChangeThe Game of Life Board GameTed LassoEssentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg MckeownEffortless: Make It Easier To Do What Matters Most by Greg Mckeown The Fun Formula by Joel CommThe ChosenEpisode DetailsEpisode Highlights [03:32] “One might think… that the more mature we get, the older we get, the more answers that we have. I am finding that I have more questions than answers.” - Click Here to Tweet This[04:27] The Game of Life The Game of Life is a board game that was introduced in the 1960s by Reuben Klemer. Its goal is to accumulate the most money. This game reflects what our society thought about the meaning of life.In 2007, Hasbro released a new version of the game with slightly different thoughts about the meaning of life. Besides earning money in the game, you can also earn points for virtuous deeds. Just like the revamping of this game, we should challenge ourselves to keep redefining the meaning of success. [09:07] Ted Lasso Ted Lasso, an Apple TV+ series, is about a football coach with a very positive outlook on life. It’s a “feel good” show about the naive enjoyment of life, which also circles back to the discussion about the meaning of life. The first season of the show was mostly light and quirky, and it showed the characters’ hurts and difficulties in the second season. [13:42] Book Recommendations Tim recommends two powerful books by Greg McKeown: Essentialism and Effortless.Essentialism makes you question what is essential in your life. Tim resonates with this concept especially because he lives in an RV and travels a lot. On the other hand, Effortless talks about the type of effort we put forth in our day-to-day lives. These efforts depend on how we define success. If you equate success with wealth, then you’d spend the most effort on generating money. [17:33] Exciting Upcoming Episodes In his conversation with Joel Comm, Tim noticed that individuals in his age bracket tend to ponder more about the meaning of life. For Joel, life should be fun. That got Tim thinking about whether or not he’s living a life filled with joy.Meanwhile, in his interview with Simon Severino, they talked about growth. One thing that Tim noticed is even though he advocates for growth and profit, he also has an easygoing lifestyle and gets plenty of rest.[21:24] “I used to be one of these guys that were pretty proud of the fact that I slept very little. I thought it was a badge of honor….You know what, it feels really good to be rested. It feels really good to just have the mind feel rested, the body feel rested.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisThis chat with Simon speaks a lot about the importance of having a good rhythm and pace in life. Listen to the full episode to hear more about Tim’s exciting interviews![24:24] The Chosen The Chosen is a show about the people that Jesus chose to follow him early in his ministry. Tim admits that he didn’t want to watch this show because he gets disappointed with the quality of Christian television, but he tried to watch with an open mind. For Tim, the show relays the nature of Jesus Christ during the beginning of his ministry, and it did a great job at storytelling. Watching the show made him realize that we are His chosen, and He came for us. Tim reminds us not to construe the show as 100% Biblical and Scriptural truth. [29:41] Pondering Spiritual ArgumentsSome people believe that God is sovereign; He is moving us around like chess pieces. However, others think that we do have free will.Tim agrees with both ideas. There is an Invisible Hand of God steering and guiding us. But there are ways that we could veer off and go in different direct

We should learn how to be a good listener.Another challenge is learning how to ask good questions to keep a conversation engaging. Learning how to be a good listener helps you formulate good questions. [10:07] Preparing For a ConversationIn reality, we don’t take time to prepare before having conversations. An engaging conversation involves making the other party feel valued and listened to. Part of learning how to be a good listener is understanding that not listening is an act of war.[10:59] “Not listening is an act of war. So think about that one, and then think what's going on in our culture, think what's going on in most of the relationships and conversations that we have.” - Click Here to Tweet This[11:59] Having Engaging Conversations as a Christian Jesus is a good example for those who want to learn how to be a good listener.Tim discovered that Jesus always asked questions instead of giving advice to the people that approached him. Tim reveals that Jesus asks at least a hundred questions in the Gospels. [16:16] What We Need to Get Better AtTim says we need to learn how to be a good listener. We should also learn to ask open-ended questions better. This skill would be immensely helpful to leaders. Too often, we focus on our own advice. We come into a lot of conversations thinking of what we already know.[19:53] “I think we're really bad at not listening to the other person. And then that mindset that just thinks, ‘You know what, I've got their answer. I know what they should do. And if they just do what I tell them, everything's gonna be good.’” - Click Here to Tweet This Sometimes our minds also default to problem-solving. But instead, we should take time to pause and learn how to be a good listener. This process includes asking apt questions. [21:43] HumilityUsing the coaching approach in leadership is all about learning to be a servant. Coaching was a humbling experience for Tim. Throughout his life, Tim was taught that being a leader means you need to be an expert. But he later realized through his coaching experience that this was not the case. As a coach, you need to learn how to be a good listener.Tim’s job is to guide the client by listening to them and to the Holy Spirit. And humility is in the heart of this.[25:12] “My job is to listen to you well, and to listen to the Holy Spirit well, so that I can help you hear what He's saying to you. Because at the end of the day, I got nothing for you. Right? My job is to, in a sense, kind of hand you off to the Holy Spirit.” - Click Here to Tweet This[28:25] Coach, Client, Hol

He believes that he was born to do this. Allan's family barely made ends meet, and he slept on the floor with his brothers for the first six years of his life.He noticed how different his entrepreneurial spirit is from his uncles and father.[06:32] “My entrepreneurial spirit is: I can do so much. And I can give people a great place to work, where they’re proud of what they do, where they enjoy their labor, and they can provide well for their families.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisAllan's upbringing instilled in him a sense of purpose. He believes that there's a lot that we can obtain in life.[07:35] Allan’s Mindset Around MoneyAllan's childhood played a central role in many aspects of his life.Coming from a small town, Allan recalls how motivated he was to break free and explore the world.Instead of thinking about how much money he can make, he thinks about his next step or level of progression. [11:36] What Allan Would Tell His 18-Year-Old Self Allan would tell himself that he is capable of so much more. There is infinite potential in so many areas of life.Failing is going to happen, but it's going to be okay. So why not go for that big goal?  [14:06] Develop Strategic Planning in The Service IndustryAllan wanted to be an attorney when he was young.Around 2006, his brother started selling pest control door-to-door. They decided to start their own pest-control company after seeing its potential. But it did not work out for them.Allan went back to law school and did a few years of commercial litigation while his brother stuck with pest control. After a while, they decided to revisit their business venture and develop strategic planning for it.[16:30] Being an Entrepreneur and LawyerLawyers, especially litigators, are not typically entrepreneurs. There is a significant disconnect between entrepreneurship and lawyers because lawyers only see things when they go bad.Allan believes that sometimes, you have to be overly optimistic to develop strategic planning.Allan had to find this blend between logical, linear thinking and a creative, ambitious, and optimistic personality.[18:56] The Risk of Owning BusinessesAllan holds himself back from overanalyzing an opportunity.Attorneys err on the side of caution because they are trained to do so in law school.Allan's risk tolerance for investment is high. However, once he gets into a deal, he analyzes it to see where he should take care. Doing this allows him to plan strategically. There’s value in playing both sides of a business.[26:55] Having an Arrogant Mindset People have this mindset thinking nobody can do it as well as them; this is a bit arrogant. Small business owners have such a hard time letting go of control. As a business owner, you can’t do everything by yourself. You need to relinquish some control to develop strategic planning.[29:39] “Even when they hire people, small business owners have a problem micromanaging because that person is just not good enough. If you treat somebody like they’re not good enough, they’re gonna go find another job.” - Click Here to Tweet This[32:00] Having a Business PartnerGoing into business with a partner is a lot like marriage. The ma

Building Immunity to the Virus of Change

We often learn the hard way that we are not in control of many things in life. But as cliché as it may sound, change is inevitable—and it applies to all aspects of our lives. It’s one of the virus types that comes at us at the most unexpected time. Sometimes, it can end up leading us to a positive situation. Other times, it’s what brings us down. That said, how can we prepare for change if we can’t anticipate the exact moment it will happen? In this episode, Tim delves into the topic of building immunity to change. We will learn the significance of the words seek, go, create, and now in preparing for the shifts in our ways of life. This episode also marks the second anniversary of the podcast. With that, Tim finally answers which among the words in the podcast title resonates with him the most.Tune in to the episode if you want to know how you can build up immunity to change!3 Reasons to Listen to this Episode:Learn why we should immunize ourselves to multiple virus types like change and embrace it.Understand why seeking, going, and creating now is critical in preparing for change.Find out which among Seek, Go, and Create resonates most with Tim.ResourcesSubscribe to our website to get resources from our guests and updates on our latest giveaways and episodes.Check out Coach: A Story of Success Redefined by Tim Winders and download chapter 1 for free!Seek Go Create Podcast: Seek Go Create - The Origin StoryDwell — Scripture Listening AppEpisode DetailsEpisode Highlights [02:47] Becoming Immune to the Virus of ChangeTim always encounters these two words in the coaching world: control and change.Control: Can you control and manage everything under you?Change: How can you control change and keep it from coming at you?  [03:58] The Virus Types 2020 BroughtWe’ve learned a lot about ourselves and how we deal with change over the last two years. No one knew what was coming in early 2020 when COVID-19 officially became a global outbreak. We constantly talk about how to prepare for changes in business and politics. But COVID-19 was one of the virus types no one saw coming.[05:34] Dealing with ChangeWe cannot eliminate change, but we can manage and control it.We can build up our immune system to not become as prone to the challenges accompanying change.[06:25] Acquiring and Recovering from Other Virus Types: COVID-19Tim and his wife have just recovered from COVID-19 at the time of the recording. They both chose not to get inoculated, as they live socially distant lives from others. But after recuperating, Tim has felt better today than he has for the past five years. He acknowledges that the virus types, especially COVID-19, have impacted many people in various negative ways.[08:44] How Tim Decided to Talk About ChangeHe was recently asked to write an article discussing change. As he was writing the article, he realized it fits with the recent talk he did for a local rotary club in Atlanta. For this podcast, Tim mashed up what he wrote and spoke about.[10:33] It’s Not Possible to Avoid ChangeWe can't put ourselves in a position where we can avoid and repel change. The rate of change is accelerating exponentially. With this, we need to immunize ourselves to deal with change.[12:20] When We Shouldn’t Pursue ChangeWe must not change for the sake of change.Constantly bringing new things in prevents us from getting things done and moving forward. We don’t have to try hard to have change coming at us with how the world is today. So, embrace change when it comes instead of pursuing or avoiding it. Otherwise, it can come back even worse. To deal with change better, we must build up our systems and structures.[13:08] “[Change] prevents us from finishing. It prevents us from moving forward in getting some things done when we're constantly bringing new things and change in.” - Click Here to Tweet This[15:00] The Roadmap to Building Up ImmunityThe roadmap to building up immunity revolves around the words seek, go, create, and another word.Tim always asks guests about which between Seek, Go, and Create resonates with them. But he has never answered the question himself.[16:49] SeekTim was a man of action in the past. He would never take time to pause, think, and seek wisdom, just like most of us in society today. One of the most powerful ways to build up your immune system against change is to spend time seeking. Listen to the episode to hear how Tim practices seeking!Tim encourages people he works with to have silent thinking time built into their calendars. He suggests finding something that allows you to seek and be still.[22:42] GoGo is taking action from the things or instructions you’ve gotten while you were seeking. Tim was previously always on the go. He learned that he needed to sit down and seek first before he goes. Some people want 100% of the information before taking action, while some figure things out as they go. Having a coach can help you identify how to improve your way of taking action.[24:16

He was encouraged to not act like the boss’ son in his first job. To pay off the debt, Bobby sold his car and rode with an employee to work. He also had to ask their five employees to take a pay cut.Encouraged by Jesus’s servant leadership, Bobby took his organizational chart, turned it upside down, and placed himself at the bottom. At the very top of his organizational chart is Jesus Christ.[19:27] “Jesus said to His disciples, ‘I come to serve and not be served.’ So with that thought in the background is that I took the organization chart and turned it upside down.” - Click Here to Tweet This[21:53] Being a Christian Business Some Christian business people try to separate and compartmentalize ministry from work. For Bobby, Christian business leaders should not divide the two; God is glorified every time we use our talents, skills, and gifts. Bobby did not promote his company as a Christian business. However, he did declare that he wanted to view his work as a ministry and not just a job. As Colossians 3:23-24 states, whatever you do, do it with all your heart for the Lord. Bobby also makes this explicit to all his employees, that they work for God and not for him.   [26:39] “Our employees clearly heard me say that they came to work for the Lord Jesus Christ every day, not for Bobby Albert.” - Click Here to Tweet This[27:32] Hiring Employees as a Christian Business LeaderBobby does not specifically choose Christians to join his company. But he makes sure that applicants know that he is one and that they’re comfortable with it. [30:36] Setting a Standard of ExcellenceDon’t be a hypocrite; be consistent with how you act in every setting. As Bobby looked up the founding of the country, the values of freedom and responsibility stood out to him.The more we act responsibly, the more freedom we have. The same is true for the opposite. Throughout history,

Measuring Success Through Love, Faith, and Peace

Success looks different for each of us. However, most of us use worldly achievements as a basis to determine the magnitude of our success.  More often than not, these are tangible things associated with numbers. But at the end of your life, can you say that you are truly fulfilled? To avoid living with regret, start measuring success by looking deep into yourself and drowning out the noise from the physical realm. In this episode, Tim delves into alternative ways of measuring success. He shares his version of the Scripture’s fruits of the Spirit and breaks down what each of them means. Once these fruits start lining up, then we begin living a life of peace and shalom. He also talks about the origin story of the podcast and how it has shaped his life today.Listen to the episode to find out the bigger, more important way of measuring success through love, faith, and peace!3 Reasons to Listen:Find out what the Scripture says about measuring success.Learn the ways of measuring success through three fruits of the Spirit.Discover the story behind Seek Go Create.ResourcesSubscribe to our website to get resources from our guests and updates on our latest giveaways and episodes.Check out Coach: A Story of Success Redefined by Tim Winders and download chapter 1 for free!Seek Go Create Podcast Episodes: Redefining the Meaning of Success and Overcoming Roadblocks Along the WaySeek Go Create - The Origin StoryReverse Engineering Longevity by Dan BuettnerEpisode DetailsEpisode Highlights [01:05] Defining SuccessThe events that happened over the last 15 years of Tim’s life prompted him to think about how we define success. Most people define their success through money, stuff, titles, the past, the future, time, people, and comparison. However, measuring success this way leads to stress. [04:04] How the Lord WorksSometimes, we see the Lord doing things in our lives, but we’re not sure how they fit together.Eventually, everything will start coming together.Tune in to the full episode to hear Tim’s example for this situation.[05:37] Measuring SuccessThe Scripture says that we should not judge others. However, we are allowed to look at the fruits that they have to measure success.  [07:13] What the Scripture SaysGalatians 5:16–26 tackles Paul’s conversation about walking in the Spirit. It gives a great example of how we can measure ourselves on how well we’re doing. Are you walking in the flesh or the Spirit? You can measure your success by looking at how well you are doing in the latter.Walking in the flesh looks like adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, envy, murder, drunkenness, and revelry.Meanwhile, the fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, long-suffering/patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.[09:48] On Success and LongevityMost people only live to 70 or 80 years old. People with longevity can reach beyond 100.Longevity isn’t the best measure of success. However, it is an indication of the quality of life you live.Stress is one of the biggest killers we have. It builds anxiety and removes years from our lives.Populations with longevity tend to move naturally in nature, have the right outlook and attitude, eat wisely, and be connected.Listen to the full episode to learn which places in the world have a longer-living population![12:57] “Stress, to me, is one of the biggest killers that we have. It really takes away a lot of the joy in our life. It takes away a lot of what I would think would be success because it builds in anxiety.” - Click Here to Tweet This[15:28] What We are Created forLongevity was part of what was formulating in Tim’s mind as he began working on his projects. Our ultimate design is to live a long, healthy, prosperous life filled with joy.Tim wants to focus on doing things to work toward living this kind of life.[16:25] “Our ultimate design is to live that long, long life and for it to be of joy, and peace, and happiness.” - Click Here to Tweet This[17:01] Tim’s Version of the Fruits of the SpiritPaul’s list of fruits could fall under Tim’s version of three fruits.Tim felt that his novel was inspired divinely. The Lord gave him the three principles that he should focus on.These three fruits are love, faith, and peace. Tim started to measure much of what he does by these.[19:33] Fruit #1: LoveTim never thought to measure his success and define himself through love. He realized that his motives were wrong, so he shifted his mindset.Love is one of the foundational principles we all need to have and be able to measure. At the macro level, there are plenty of issues, challenges, and division going on in the world. The deep meaning of love is about understanding, compassion, and empathy for others. If it’s something you’re conveying, the people around you can tell you about it.[20:47] “ The fruit of the Spirit, love, that Paul talks about here, really, is one of the foundational principles that I need to have, that I believe y

Redefining the Meaning of Success and Overcoming Roadblocks Along the Way

Take a minute to think about the people you look up to, whether you know them personally or not. Do you feel a tinge of jealousy? In this modern world, it's so easy to compare ourselves to others. People often measure their success through the standards and achievements of those around them. It's all too easy to end up chasing someone else's meaning of success, even if it is a roadblock for us.  So what is the meaning of success, and how can we achieve it? In this episode, Tim talks about giving meaning to success to suit us and creating a life we are called to live. He also discusses the seven roadblocks of money, stuff, titles, past and/or future, time, people, and comparison. We need to be aware of these things that will stop us from achieving our life purpose.Listen to the episode if you want to find out how to overcome these roadblocks and move toward what you’re created to do!3 Reasons to Listen:Learn why we should redefine our meaning of success and stop looking for the answer from others.Discover the seven roadblocks to success and how we can overcome them.Understand that we should not obsess over these roadblocks to the point of stress and anxiety.ResourcesStay updated about Tim’s upcoming novel on Seek Go Create. You also get to download chapter one!Pick up Tim’s book at timwinders.com/book!Glory Days by Bruce SpringsteenEpisode DetailsEpisode Highlights[05:37] What Is the Meaning of Success? The Merriam-Webster dictionary has varied definitions of success. While we can measure an elusive concept like success, remember that we all define success differently. Tim’s meaning of success is evolving. He currently defines success as the process of moving towards the life that you were created to live. [10:51] “[Success] is the process of moving towards the life that you were created to live.” - Click Here to Tweet This[11:05] Redefining the Meaning of Success Tim’s redefinition comes from a foundational belief system that we’re all created for a purpose while on this earth. Your purpose or assignment will not become apparent until you develop that relationship of listening and obeying God. On the way to achieve our purpose, we will need to go through seven roadblocks.  [14:44] Roadblock #1 - Money When we chase after money, we often ignore other essential pursuits. It's natural to chase after money when you don’t have enough for your basic needs. However, when you are above the threshold of basic need, you need to be careful not to think of wants as needs. Don’t be trapped by looking at how much you earn and thinking that it’s the meaning of success.Money is just a tool we need to survive. [22:16] Roadblock #2 - Stuff Similar to money, many of us tie the meaning of success to stuff we own. When we constantly compare ourselves to others, we may think we also need certain things to be successful.Do not let your stuff own you. Essentialism is a way of living where you question whether what you have is essential to what you want to achieve and accomplish. [26:18] Roadblock #3 - TitlesBe careful about tying your identity to titles because, at some point, you may lose them. It’s also easy to fall into the trap of looking down on others when you tie the meaning of success to a title. Remember that just as you have a purpose in this life, so does everyone else. [28:18] “Do not believe that I, we, you are better than someone else because you've got that title beside your name. Because there are other people that may not have a title...but they were created and designed and they have an assignment, just like you do.” - Click Here to Tweet This[29:46] Roadblock #4 - Your Past and/or Your FutureWhile it's vital to learn from our past experiences, we should not let them rule us. Do not be caught up by past glories so much that you lose sight of the present. Similarly, do not keep wishing and living for the future because this takes you away from the present. If you focus too much on the chase, you forget to live out what you need to live out today.[34:21] Roadblock #5 - TimeWe live in a world where the hustle mindset is encouraged. We need to be cautious about this since busyness isn’t necessarily the meaning of success. It would be best to focus your time on what you were designed and created to do. Don’t copy other people’s schedules. You need to find your rhythm and what works for you. Having the time to think and be creative is also important. [38:08] “Don't mimic other people's success. Don't copy other people. Find what works for you and evaluate your days, evaluate your rhythms, evaluate the way things work for you.” - Click Here to Tweet This[41:01] Roadblock #6 - PeopleThere will be people who will push us towards or away from success. Be careful of who you surround yourself with. People can also refer to your followers or those that you lead. Be carefu

She currently lives in Louisville, Kentucky, with her husband and three sons. She recently published Leaders Deserve Better, a book chronicling her extensive experience working with leaders and organizations. If you want to learn more about Jennifer, you may connect with her by visiting her website.Episode Highlights[02:58] What Jennifer DoesJennifer helps leaders make sense of the chaos and complexity of our culture. She prepares these people for whatever may happen in the future. With the pandemic, change is happening more rapidly than ever. Everyone is impacted, and we respond differently. Other generations have also experienced challenging periods. What’s different now is that information is getting to us faster because of technology. We’re also more likely to be living alone and not going to church. [09:32] Examples of Good Leadership TodayIt’s difficult to find a role model for good leadership today. However, Jennifer believes that there are still good leaders out there. Leadership is a journey. And so, Jennifer learns from other leaders and improves herself over time.Look at the people around the leader as well. You can learn more by seeing the people they surround themselves with.[10:23] “Leadership is a journey. None of us have arrived.” - Click Here to Tweet This[12:53] Defining LeadershipJennifer defines leadership more in the corporate sense, where their number one job is to develop people.A leader sets the stage, helps define where we are headed, and connects individuals to their part in the big picture. There are different levels of leadership in organizations that further define what their role is and what they need to do. [13:12] “A leader is one that develops other people. A leader is one that sets the stage, helps define where we're headed, and connect individuals to that to say, ‘What's my part in all of this?’” - Click Here to Tweet This[16:34] How Our Systems Prepare Us for LeadershipLeadership is rarely taught in schools and organizations. It’s easier to teach functional expertise to people. What’s difficult is teaching good leadership. To be effective, leaders need to communicate, set standards on performance, and look at the future. These are learned through life experiences.[21:11] Jennifer as a Young LeaderWhen she was younger, Jennifer was always seeking challenges. Even if she knew she wasn’t the best, she still always went for it.More importantly, she put herself out there and was willing to fail.People aren’t necessarily born leaders. Good leadership is a mix of both born and learned components. To have good leadership, you have to be motivated and have skills and intellect. It’s okay not to want a leadership position. Companies should define another path apart from leadership, such as the expert path, which is being an expert at one’s craft.[28:50] Advice and Tips for Future LeadersFirst, good leadership is about self-awareness.

So they did. However, they were unable to move into a new house. That's why they bought an RV.His wife said: “If we live in a trailer, we are travelling the country.”Tune in to the full episode to hear the journey of Dan’s family across America, China, and Taiwan in an RV![10:24] The Struggles and Pleasures of Living in an RVEvery day was intense and stressful, but Dan and his family were grateful for it.They felt that their life had become stale. Living in an RV was the adventure that they craved. They essentially volunteered to struggle. According to Dan, a time of struggle is an opportunity for growth. The greatest part of the experience was doing it as a family.[14:29] “There is no growth without struggle. And so if you spend your whole life trying to create comfort… there's a lot of value in that. But at some point, you're actually working yourself out of the opportunity to grow." - Click Here to Tweet This [16:22] The State of Leadership TodayAccording to Dan, social problems have been part of human culture for a long time, requiring leadership to break them. What Dan noticed is that there are a lot of snake oil salesmen in the leadership industry. Some of these snake oil salesmen believe in their product. Others sell it knowing full well that it doesn’t work because people will buy it.The messages that they sell appease people, but their message doesn't necessarily help their buyers become or change into leaders.[25:21] What Is a Change Maker?A change maker is someone who feels called to change the world. Instead of complaining about something, change makers are the ones who lead the change. To be a change maker, you have to be more and do more for yourself and the community.Age, skills, and knowledge do not matter. What matters is the desire to lead change.[26:24] “That is leadership, getting people to do something that they would not do without your intervention.” - Click Here to Tweet This[29:53] Inviting Yourself Into A CrisisLeadership is more about character than skills and knowledge. When you hit a crisis point, you can change your character. You are willing to rethink who you think you are because you have no other choice. Dan says that to transform a person's character, he invites them to get into a crisis. You undergo three states of mind during a crisis: focused learning, deliberate experimentation, and deep reflection. Listen to the full episode to find out more about these three mindsets that help you shape your cha

You can also reach him on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Episode Highlights[02:19] God’s Compassion and a Grandfather’s LoveKevin shares that becoming a grandfather taught him more about God’s compassion and goodness. Like how we give good gifts to our children and grandchildren, God loves to give good gifts to those who ask him. God is investing in today for future generations to come.[09:13] Kevin’s Highs and Lows Kevin feels God's compassion through his family. He also feels it while he works with startups and missions in India. His lowest points were when his parents got divorced and when he got fired as a pastor for working too much. His hardships helped him see God’s compassion and generosity. We would never choose hardships, but it is in times of hardship where we grow the most. We don't have to be in a state of constant conflict, even during stressful times.   [19:52] “We live in a fallen world and there's going to be unfortunate things that every person is going to endure, we can either get bitter as a result of those bruises or we can become better. And if we let God, he will make things better.” - Click Here to Tweet This[21:01] Business and MinistryPeople often try to separate God from business and ministry, but ministry should always be in everything you do. God can be found everywhere, even in business conferences. Regardless of your work, some things remain the same. It’s important to know your finances, value your people, and know your core values. [23:49] “God would say take down the walls, ‘don't put me in a box of business or a box of ministry, but have ministry when you are in business.’” - Click Here to Tweet This[29:52] The Vision of an EntrepreneurAs an entrepreneur, it's critical that you see what others haven't seen yet. Vision will help guide you and your decisions. Even the Bible says that people without vision will perish. Build your strategy around your vision.  [31:30] Global Hope IndiaKevin shares how God led him to pursue missions in India. It’s only because of this that he learned to pursue the presence of God in his life. India represents a third of all people in the world unreached by the gospel of God. But this is slowly changing. India is, unfortunately, one of the poorest countries, and its government is not able to help all its citizens. The pandemic has affected India more than others, and we need to do something about it. Learn more in the full episode! [50:35] The Truth About GenerosityGod has given us the spirit of love and power, not fear. He always wants to be present in our lives. We often associate generosity with giving and money. But remember that God is the Giver. Give only what God allows us to give. Do not look at giving as an expectation from God. Look at giving as a way to channel God’s compassion and lov

Richard didn’t want to be seen as an Asian, and he wanted to be an American.Later on in his life, he found out that his grandparents were illegal immigrants.20 years later, while covering news about illegal immigrants in the country, he realized that he has the same situation as the immigrant children. He realized that when he rejected his heritage, he’s also rejecting his grandfather, who only wanted to live a better life and give his family a better chance at living in this country.[32:37] “And so I was ashamed just to talk about that one issue that was not rejecting those new immigrants—those new Americans—I was rejecting my grandfather. And that was the most frustrating for me, because I was saying, “Hey, you, you're no good. I'm better than you.” And I was really pointing instead to my grandfather. How dare I?” - Click He

You Are a Steward, Not an Owner: The Meaning of Leadership

What is the meaning of leadership? Sometimes, our leaders operate on an outdated definition of leadership. They create a dangerous cult of personality, and we put them on pedestals. When we mistakenly associate leadership with control, we risk looking at followers as a means to an end and money as the ultimate goal.In this episode, Tim encourages you to rethink the meaning of leadership. Think of it in terms of stewardship. The moment we embrace this mindset, the more we can take care of the people and resources we have been given. As stewards of God, we look at people as unique individuals to serve and approach financial resources as gifts.Listen to the full episode to find out how you can step into your role as a steward-leader.  3 Reasons to Listen:Know the meaning of leadership as it relates to being a steward.Learn how to show love, compassion, and understanding to people.Discover and apply the storehouse principle for your financial blessings.ResourcesSubscribe to our website to get resources from our guests and receive updates on our latest giveaways and episodes.Learn more about the Storehouse PrincipleEpisode DetailsEpisode Highlights[03:53] The Meaning of LeadershipWhen we talk about leadership, we tend to focus on the hard skills that it takes to lead and, more recently, servant leadership. However, what is missing in this conversation is stewardship.   A leader is a steward, caretaker, and overseer. They should treat the people under their wing and the resources under their management as gifts. All our material possessions and relationships are not ours. We are only caretakers and stewards of these blessings.   Having a steward’s mindset sets you up to become a Godly and ultimate leader.  [07:14] “A leader is a steward, or a caretaker, or an overseer of all that they had been gifted with. . . It’s people, it’s resources, it’s things, it’s possessions — all of the things that you have been blessed with. You are a steward over those things. And that, to me, is what leadership is all about. It's not ownership. It's not that you control or you have total lordship over things. You have been given a gift.”- Click Here to Tweet This[10:20] Everyone Is a LeaderWe are all called to do great things on this earth. Even if you don’t consider yourself a leader or you don’t see yourself embodying the meaning of leadership. However, you’ve been entrusted with several gifts and blessings that you may be unknowingly taking care of.   It may also be the case that you’re being groomed to take on leadership roles in the future. [12:41] On Better LeadersWe tend to rank leaders based on their influence or visibility. But being in the limelight doesn’t automatically mean you’re an effective leader. If you embrace a steward’s mindset, you can still be a good leader even if you do good deeds without anyone seeing. In the Kingdom of God, the first shall be the last, and the last shall be the first.A true leader has a mindset based on stewardship, not ownership. [15:06] The Cult of LeadershipSometimes, we put leaders on pedestals more than we should. We can see this cult of personality in churches, businesses, and organizations. However, there’s a fine line between honoring a person and idolizing them.Often, these types of leaders who developed a cult of personality have issues with integrity since no one is holding them accountable.  If you’re a leader, you have to be mindful and remain focused on your mission. Get a team or a coach to keep you grounded.[18:28] Treating People as GiftsWhen you become a leader, remember that your followers are not your property. You have a responsibility to serve them. When leaders start to believe that they own their followers, this puts them on a dangerous path.  The meaning of leadership is leading with love, compassion, and understanding.  People are not commodities; they are unique individuals designed for greatness. You are encouraged to consider all the people that come into our lives as gifts. [22:32] “If you're not going to show love and compassion, you really don't have any part of leading people.” - Click Here to Tweet This[30:51] The Storehouse PrincipleMoney is a tool, nothing more, nothing less.  When we elevate money too high on a pedestal, it can mess with our heads and affect our interactions with others. When we have too much or too little money, we usually learn the truth about ourselves. That’s why it’s important to understand that money is not ours; it’s just a tool. According to the Storehouse Principle, we should set aside a portion of our financial seed in a “storehouse” to recognize that the abundance we currently enjoy is a gift.Applying the Storehouse Principle sets you up to become a better leader because you acknowledge the money as gifts. [35:38] “If you believe that you've been given a gift of some

She then figured out speaking might be her gift.Michelle made a lot of mistakes in the process. She also doubted herself, but everyone does. Sometimes, we need doubts to humble ourselves, so not having doubts or fears can be dangerous.Stopping and redirecting your path may be hard but a necessary thing to do.[21:15] Authenticity and the Struggle of Coming Up with Your Own StoryYou may feel the need to imitate other people’s tactics because they’re doing things better and for longer. But you only need to draw inspiration from people. You can do this by finding people with a message you can resonate with and the values you can live with.Authenticity doesn't mean just being vulnerable or sharing your life story. It's figuring out who you are and what you stand for. There isn’t a lot of authenticity nowadays, especially online. So, people now crave it; they are attracted to those who are real and to who they can relate to.[23:35] “Authenticity doesn't mean that you're just vulnerable, and you share every detail of your life. She felt like she needed to do something to help. She printed yard signs and set them up anonymously. The signs worked because they invited people to have a moment of sovereignty. People who see these signs decide that it’s for them and take hope for themselves. The signs went viral during her vacation with her family. They began to produce custom products in different languages. She got an email from a literary agent who encouraged her to write a book.[15:42] The Signs’ MessagesAll of the yard signs had “Don’t give up” written on them. The first 20 signs that were put up had two different messages, namely, “You are worthy of love” and “Your mistakes do not define you.” The movement produced car decals, encouragement cards, postcards, pins, and even tattoos with these messages. The messages that sell most include “You matter,” “You got this,” and “We’re all in this together.”Listen to the full episode to know more about the other messages in these signs![26:06] Amy’s Superpower and KryptoniteAmy’s strength is loving people well. She considers her ego as her kryptonite. She is outward with her opinions, doesn’t mind being vulnerable, and likes speaking. [29:04] Speaking at ChurchIf she speaks in a spiritual setting, she has a healthy fear of God. At church, she feels like she shouldn’t speak just words, but inspired words. Amy tempers a bit, not because of a religious spirit, but because she does not want her opinions to get in the way of her relationship with God.She believes that God is calling her to hate her sin more than other people’s.God wants her to stay humble and to love other people like He loves them.[35:26] Moments That Changed Amy’s Belief SystemAmy was sitting on her bed watching a YouTube video about two gay men speaking at Seattle Pacific University. The two men had opposing views on whether to act on their sexual desires. She realized that even if the men had different opinions, they still loved each other. At 14 years old, she lost her brother. She was never angry nor had any traumas due to the incident; she believes that God gave her a miraculous ability to bear the situation.  She believed that experience solidified her faith and made her feel a sense of urgency in making her life count. She shares that her journey to understand people and their experiences is a slow, steady evolution. She advises us to be patient when we feel like someone isn’t getting where we’re coming from. [46:04] On MaturityAmy believes that maturity is opening everything up to God.It’s allow

Episode Highlights[06:19] Lessons and Challenges Matt Tommey Experienced in His HometownGrowing up in a religious family, Matt learned the importance of faith and family in his life. However, even though his life seemed perfect on the surface, he experienced inner turmoil. It took him years before he understood his purpose and the Lord’s plan for him. [08:28] Racial Issues and InequalitiesGrowing up in Middle Georgia in the 70s and 80s, many racial inequalities were present. In one of his quiet times, the Lord asked Matt about his position regarding race. Matt realized that many negative things are “baked” into his consciousness by the culture he grew up in. Matt says that removing these things from our minds is a process of looking at them through the lens of God.Ask yourself if your beliefs fit within the Kingdom of God.[15:12] The Meaning Behind “Thriving Christian Artists”Before, Matt was just an artist who knew Jesus but had no context for it. As Matt went through his healing journey, he found a way to put Jesus in his personal life.Having a deeper relationship with the Lord also changed Matt’s finances, business, and how he presents himself to the world. Matt concluded that a way to bring glory back to God is to help his fellow artists have an abundant life through art.[17:44] The Journey of Finding Your IdentityThe people who don't know the foundations of their identity are easily broken down.Moreso, if you don’t know who you are, you’ll never know your assignment in God’s design.Your identity comes from God’s word. Matt shares that you need to lean into experiencing the divine and embrace the Lord’s truth.[18:25] “And I think embracing that and embracing a healthy identity in the Lord, that my identity doesn't come from what I do, or even my experience, or what others say about me. But it comes from God's word.” - Click Here to Tweet This[19:58] How Matt Changed from Striving to ThrivingMatt felt a call to ministry, and that’s why he became pastor for a few years right after he finished college. He left his religious denomination. Together with his wife, he formed a company on web and graphic design. However, the economy took a plunge, and it affected their business. Matt eventually found his assignment by trusting God’s word. Matt used his experience to write books and form mentoring programs to help people learn how to step into what God is calling them to be.  [26:28] How to Lessen the Pain and Shorten Your JourneyMatt realized that he could receive everything he needs and wants in his art, relationships, and business through faith.Matt says that the only thing we need to do is ask ourselves if what we do aligns with what God has prepared for us. You need to pursue God's design i

Be the Host of Your Life and Fulfill Your Purpose with Andrea Freeman

What role do you play in life? Most of us go through the motions and stay stuck in comfortable patterns. We’re coasting through each day like bystanders to our own lives, sometimes even unaware of our life’s purpose. How long can this go on?Remember: when we stop acting as guests and start controlling the story, we can create a life worth living. In this episode, Andrea Freeman teaches us how we can start being a host in our life. She shares a simple but powerful acronym to help us realign with our life’s purpose. Once we tap into that passion, it becomes easier to participate actively and engage with life differently.   Tune in to the full episode to take back control and rediscover your life’s purpose. Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode:Discover and apply the H.O.S.T. acronym in your life.Learn how to align with your life’s purpose. Find out how to make sense of your unique joy, gifts, and core values.  ResourcesYou Are a Badass: Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen SinceroAndrea Freeman EventsAndrea Freeman ConsultingConnect with Andrea: Instagram | LinkedIn | Email.    Episode DetailsEpisode Highlights[04:15] Working with the StarsAs a celebrity events planner, Andrea is no stranger to the ultra-rich and famous. However, she explains that working with her clientele isn’t all that different. She gets to see a backstage version of these people and helps them create a vision. This perspective got her into mindful business coaching. For Andrea, event planning is less about striving for perfection but more about striking a partnership and moving forward with your life’s purpose. [09:34] Looking WithinIn 2016, despite achieving so much success with her event planning business, Andrea felt misaligned. She felt as if she outgrew some parts of her business and that the industry standard no longer resonated with her core values. For Andrea, if it doesn’t fit with her inner purpose, it had to go. She shifted from fancy Tiffany champagne glasses she gave to new clients to handmade organic candles crafted by African women. Rather than comparison to others, Andrea learned to look within and let her internal compass guide her decisions.   [14:37] How to H.O.S.T. In life, you can either be a guest who takes what is offered or be a host and actively control your life story. The H.O.S.T. acronym helps you be a host in life. H stands for honoring your why, O means owning who you are, S means shifting your perspective, and T stands for taking inspired action. The H.O.S.T. method helps you appreciate the good in life and act from a place of abundance.   [18:37] Catalysts for ChangeThere were catalysts that pushed her to change. In 2015, she became a mother. If she had to spend time away from her family, it had to be important. It had to be something she was deeply passionate about. After the 2016 election, Andrea observed a growing political division. Andrea chose to talk about bringing people together as a public speaker. In an environment marked by conflict, she emphasized the power of connection. [21:46] Getting the Message OutAndrea observed that small business owners often find it difficult to get their message out or reach their target audience. The number one question people ask her is: how do I find clients? You have to participate in discussions actively and engage with your target clients. You have to be proactive. Make your opportunities.  [24:07] Entrepreneurial Beginnings At 13 years old, Andrea started her first business selling cookies for her Girl Scout troop.  She shares that the experience taught her how to handle rejection. After working at a camp for kids with disabilities, she decided to launch a similar project in her hometown. The project ran for a decade.  Andrea decided to become a public school teacher but only taught for a year after realizing it wasn’t for her.She got into cooking and studied at a culinary arts school, which eventually led to event planning. [32:22] Pursuing Your PassionAndrea feels there’s a high percentage of people miserable with their lives. Entrepreneurs usually break out of this cycle. Most of us think the security of a steady paycheck is more comfortable than launching our own business. But this might not necessarily be true. Andrea helps people rediscover their life’s purpose and put in the work to make their dream a reality.  [35:03] Rewiring Your BrainA trained hypnotherapist, Andrea explains that external forces shape our decision-making process at a very young age.   These forces influence our thoughts, guide our actions, and inform the results. However, these thoughts can limit you from exploring the fullness of a possibility. If we can rewire these messages, it becomes easier to tap into our passion a

But if they know that, then you've got your business moving in the right direction. That’s what’s key and important.” - Click Here to Tweet This[05:59] The Biggest Mistakes You Can Make in HR The first benchmark to be considered a salaried employee is the minimum pay threshold. This is under the Fair Labor Standards Act.Second, you cannot have a part-time employee as a salaried employee unless they’re the company’s owner. You have to put certain behaviors in place, such as not working more than the number of hours you have set.[10:21] Thoughts on the Entrepreneurial MindsetFor entrepreneurs, there is a certain mindset of working 24/7 and doing whatever it takes. To Brenda, there is nothing wrong with that. What’s important is when you build a business, HR should be a part of your executive leadership team. This will give a strong competitive advantage to the company.[16:20] On Working from HomeWhen you work from home, there are more distractions.Brenda finds it intriguing that in the last 12 months, we’ve seen businesses figure how to work things out faster. In business, you have to make fast decisions. But in HR, you not only have to be fast, but you also have to be thorough. The current situation showed employers that you could still run a company with your employees working from home, and it probably saves them money in the long run.You need to have the right culture in place and people whom you can trust with you.[19:16] “In HR, we can't do that (make low-risk decisions). When we make a decision with not enough inf

He woke up from a coma three weeks later. [10:03] “I’m a big believer that our time here on earth is a process. It’s not an event; it might be a series of events that sort of define us. But it’s a process.” - Click Here to Tweet This[11:08] Cody’s ReactionAccording to Cody, it’s a natural human tendency to want to control things and their outcomes. He remembers very little, but what stuck to his memory were his mom and her prayers for him.He was thankful to be alive, but he sometimes asked what he did to deserve such a situation. He eventually came to understand that his vision was to always bring hope and God’s message to people.[14:04] “I’m just thinking to myself how so often in life we all need those people, when life takes a hit, to remind us to keep our focus on the vision and what is most important.” - Click Here to Tweet This[16:52] How to Remain Faithful: The Importance of a Spiritual RelationshipWhen your world is rocked, your faith is put to the test. How can you remain faithful to God?Your spiritual life is no longer just going to worship service. In the face of devastating or discouraging news, you simply have to pray genuinely.[18:34] Why These Things HappenCody never got mad at God, but he did get frustrated and wondered why his accident had to happen. Everyone has their moments, but God knows our heart, and He will wrap us in His warm embrace.Cody doesn’t believe God was punishing him, quoting Jan Crouch who said, “God did not do this to you. But He allowed it to happen because He could trust you with the scars.”God gave humans the right to make decisions. The driver who hit Cody was operating on his own free will, and it just so happened that he was not paying attention.[26:26] Explaining the Unexplainable It's a natural human desire to want to know the answers to everything.Cody thinks there’s still going to be so much that we’ll never fully understand. That is why in the end, we all need to have a relationship with God.We can try to do things without Him, but it would be a lonely life. All we have to do is trust that God knows what’s right, and that someday everything will be brought to light.[31:57] Benefits of the Situation Cody Went ThroughThe first benefit is personal growth.Cody felt that he grew deeper in his walk with God, and he discovered the truly important things in life.Pain let Cody grow in maturity in ways he wouldn’t have if he had not gone through such an experience. It allowed him to refocus and go back to the core questions: Why am I here on this earth? Who do I want to be? What do I believe God is calling me to do?[35:25] On FreedomWe all want freedom, but it requires effort to get to that place. In our walk with Christ, it’s understanding that through Jesus and what He did for us, we can have freedom from sin. There’s also freedom from knowing you don’t need to be liked by people, because you realize their opinions don’t matter. The biggest freedom for Cody was

There might be no one more apt to speak on family legacies than her, as she combines the experience of two well-established family enterprises. Her family owns the Sheraton hotel chain, which her late father started. Her late husband is the poultry icon Frank Perdue, who was the CEO of Perdue Farms. She is a businesswoman in her own right, starting a family wine grape business that grew to be one of the larger suppliers of wine grapes in California.Mitzi is involved in combating human trafficking. Episode Highlights[04:33] The Henderson Family’s Story Mitzi’s late father and uncles founded the Sheraton hotels back in the 1930s.Similar to the present situation, during the Great Depression people weren’t going to hotels like they used to.To succeed, her father had to find ways to make their hotels financially stable. He was so successful that at the end of his life he had 400 hotels to his name. [06:22] Her Father’s Secrets to SuccessSuccess doesn’t depend on the leader alone. The people who work there at every level are just as important. Be the kind of leader that people want to follow. The first thing her father did when he bought a hotel was to invite all the employees. He told them they weren’t losing their jobs. After all, they knew their job better than anyone else. The first places he would spruce up were not public places, but employee spaces. It was important to him for them to know how much he needed them. One vital secret of successful family businesses is they inspire people. Intimidation and bribery won’t get them to do what you want. [10:48] “A leader’s job is to give people a better vision of themselves.” - Click Here to Tweet This[17:45] The Perdue FamilyThe Perdue family also goes to enormous lengths to make the people who work with them feel essential. Frank and Mitzi would treat their employees like their own. They would invite them to their house and entertain them.  Frank himself would wait on them. When they attended funerals, the employee’s family would say that being invited to their home was one of the most meaningful and moving events in their loved one’s life.[28:21] Family Businesses: Establishing a Legacy It’s never too early and it’s never too late to establish a legacy.Know your core values. They wrote an ethical will, ten things to do if you want a happy life, to show what they believed would make people happy. Mitzi is also a big believer in family newsletters. They let you know more about your family and they give you a roadmap of how you do things.Instill a family culture.[43:44] “I think that family should almost put as much effort into being close and supporting each other as anybody else because to my mind, the most important thing at the end of your days, when you look back on your life, I don’t think you’re gonna think how much money I made. I think you’re gonna think, ‘oh, my children loved me, they turned out well.’ That’s what’s really important.” - Click Here to Tweet This[44:57] How to Keep Your Family StraightDespite being an industry captain, Mitzi’s father always made time for them. Every Sunday, they had a “family hour” after church services. He taught them about things they might need in the future, like investing in stocks and bonds. Being sent to a public school was one of the best things her family did for her. But if someone were to pin me down, I think it would be self-awareness, to know about ourselves, to be able to say, ‘You know this is something that I’m pretty good at.’ ‘This is something that I’m not good at.’ ‘This is something that gives me passion.’ ‘I really get a lot of energy.’ ‘This is something that drains me.” So self-awareness is really that key.” - Click Here to Tweet This[32:01] #5: Ask for HelpThis step involves moving past the struggle of admitting that you need help sometimes.Asking for help shows humility.By allowing yourself to receive help, you can achieve more in your life.[36:03] #6: Give Help To OthersThis step goes hand in hand with asking for help.Through helping others, we are also able to decrease issues and chaos around us.[38:13] #7: Start MovingThis step entails taking action based on the knowledge you have about the other key steps.Don’t get stuck during chaotic times. You have to move forward. You’re embarking on your journey to thrive by moving and taking action.[38:57] “Because if you’ve done all of these things 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and then you sit around and do nothing, then I would venture to say in all likelihood, you’re not going to move beyond the chaos, the situation — whatever is going on — because you're going to be stuck. It’s almost going to be like a situation where you're in quicksand. So, start moving.” - Click Here to Tweet This Enjoy the Podcast?Seek Go Create is for anyone seeking excellence, moving towards success, or creating something new. Striving to serve more people and impact the world, he also hosts the #RiseandGrind morning show on Facebook, which is watched by over 30,000 people daily. To learn more, you may visit his website or connect with him on LinkedIn, Instagram, or Twitter.Episode Highlights[08:20] How #RiseandGrind Came to BeIts purpose is to help people change the way they start their day.Glenn is a huge believer in powerful morning routines that allow us to tap into our mind, body, and spirit and give us a good reset so we can build solid foundations and move forward. He considers #RiseandGrind as his service or ministry. He doesn’t care about the profits, but he just wants to give back and make an impact. It started as a show, and then people wanted a Facebook group, and then shirts.,This led to a clothing line, and now they have planners and live events. They also started taking it offline, going out into communities, helping homeless people, and supporting members who were battling cancer.[17:01] Thoughts on the New NormalLuckily, he quit his job in the retail side of the automotive world before COVID hit. Because of this, he and his family have been largely unaffected by the pandemic. Glenn is still amazed at how God was able to put them in that position. This is his driving force behind showing and waking up at 3 a.m. everyday. He continues to connect and allow God to do work through his ministry.[21:33] How #RiseandGrind Changed GlennThe thing about going live is you have to look at yourself in the eye and see yourself speak every time.Going live holds him accountable to being true to his word, thoughts, and actions. He has to make sure that his every word matches his character and integrity.Glenn now saw God as this fierce warrior, inspiring him to be thankful for what he has.[28:23] The Morning 5The Morning 5 stemmed from Glenn testing out and learning from multiple powerful morning routines. While studying success, he noticed how successful people have morning routines that tap into humans' three dimensions: the mind, body, and spirit. After trying different things and finding out what worked, Glenn came up with what he calls the “5 Steps to an Extraordinary Life.”The steps are simple; the challenge is doing them consistently. It’s about creating a foundational, strong, systematic, powerful morning routine that serves you and others by hitting those three dimensions.[33:10] On Misses or Changes in the Morning RoutineYou shouldn’t miss your morning routine if you can help it.Nonetheless, there are key components in your routine that allow for flexibility.Glenn gets up so early so that no one can interfere with his routine. It’s important to find and create the space for reflection, connection, and gratitude.[35:42] “Because we’re human and not God, we have to have some systems to really make sure that we spend time and reflect, spend time and connect, spend time and get grounded, spend time and get present, spend time in gratitude.” - Click Here to Tweet This[38:15] The Study of Sleeping PatternsLong ago, it didn’t make sense for our ancestors to sleep for 8 straight hours a day.In the biological makeup of our DNA, we sleep in cycles of either light or deep sleep, with the cycles lasting around 2-3 hours each. You can figure out your cycle through sleep tracking apps. Once you do, you can add or remove cycles. The key is never to allow yourself to wake up in the middle of a sleep cycle, or else you can become groggy and lack energy. [43:43] The Pandemic’s on Glenn’s MindsetThe only thing that changed for him was how he and his family are now watching the news everyday. They were walking in fear instead of walking in faith. So, instead of passively protecting their mindset, he began being ve

Gospel Spice Ministry is passionate about making you fall in love with Jesus at a deeper level. For Stephanie, life is much more interesting and better when we follow God's way. Our life needs that “spice” that God provides. She has not always been a follower of Christ. She grew up in France, where atheism reigns supreme. She grew up in a culture that emphasizes intellectual achievements and self-sufficiency — different from God's teachings.[07:44] Growing Up in France and Post-Truth PhilosophyStephanie grew up in a French middle-class family that engages in post-truth philosophy. It entails the concept of having no absolute truth. She realized that her worldview as an atheist was a fraud when she came face to face with a question someone asked her: how can you assess that relativism is absolute if there's no truth?Stephanie never went to church when she was young. The Bible is assumed as a fairytale or a myth in their culture. She embraced atheism as her worldview when she was a teenager. However, Stephanie admits that it is easy to embrace the culture you're in when you're not exposed to other cultures.[14:15] Coming to AmericaWhen Stephanie was in her senior year of high school, she came to the United States as a foreign exchange student for a year. Unexpectedly, she spent that year with a family who are firm followers of Christ. This is her first exposure to the Gospel.[14:57] The Dogma of Stephanie's FamilyYour dogma is shaped by where and how you grew up.Stephanie refers to her family as dysfunctional due to her dad being an alcoholic and womanizer. Her mom has to deal with the abuse that came from her father's overwhelming personality.Stephanie's dad is too dogmatic. He views the world as a dog-eat-dog world. He wants her to succeed in business and be a “shark,” even if it means stepping on other people's toes. Her dad’s views became her definition of success. On the other hand, her mom adopted Western New Age mysticism. For Stephanie, atheism is the outward manifestation of a deeper-seated dogma. It taught her to be self-sufficient, and it is not a problem to eradicate others on her way to success.[18:42] Finding Christ in Unexpected WaysStephanie admits that she wasn't seeking to fill anything with God in her life when she met Him. For her, part of it was her pride, arrogance, and upbringing. She realized what Christianity meant by being with her American family.Stepping out of her culture and worldview allowed Stephanie to embrace the teachings of Christ and question the post-truth mentality of atheism.Experiencing other cultures and worldviews allows you to reevaluate your belief system based on someone else's experience through their own culture. It's a very humbling process. All people have different ways of controlling their environment to cope with uncertainties. For Stephanie, it is through knowledge. [25:12] "The reason why I can say that I used to be a very arrogant and intellectually minded young lady is because I'm none of these things anymore in so many ways. And it takes a path of humility and a lot of humbling to realize that God truly is the answer to all of your needs. And it's completely outside of yourself, freeing and very humbling." - Click Here to Tweet This[27:30] Breaking Down Early Assumptions about Followers of ChristSustaining a worldview that doesn't include love requires a judgmental

Anything misaligned from Him is deceptive. You have to be hyper-intentional of what the truth would say, its inflections and tones.  [17:37] “If you don't spend time with someone, you will not know their voice and know who they are.” - Click Here to Tweet This[18:04] How to Develop a Relationship with the FatherMark uses a tool called the S.O.A.P. model of journaling: scripture, observation, application, and prayer.Journaling regularly though this model changes the trajectory of your spiritual life. The real intentionality in that process zeroes the laser pointer of the Holy Spirit talking to you. It’s full of “me,” “my,” and “I” statements.[21:39] Mark's Life Before Moving to the U.S.Mark grew up in a dairy farming community at Wilsons Promontory, Victoria, Melbourne in Australia. He did not become a believer until his late teens. Meanwhile, his business side roots from doing an apprenticeship as an electrician and running a small electrical subcontracting business. He ended up in ministry in his early 20s and was always co-pastoring until he encountered his spirit-filled life.Mark then went to Hawaii, where he met a pastor from North Carolina. Two years later, Mark joined him to serve as staff at Crossroads, United Methodist Church.[27:46] Balancing Work and MinistryMark believes that pastors are not the most influential spiritual leaders in the world. Pastors tend to hold the mortgage on what ministry is, and Mark wants to smash this idea. It’s all ministry; not one is more valid than the other.A person in business has a more significant influence because he has already demonstrated favor over towns, cities, and nations. It is saddening for Mark to see people in business building their own thing-dom instead of God's Kingdom.[29:01] “There is ministry and there is work as ministry. It's all ministry, and one is not more valid than the other.” - Click Here to Tweet This[31:27] On People in Business Who are Building Their Thing-domMark quotes Colossians Chapter 1 in the Bible, where it explains the supremacy of Christ. These startups include an internet consultancy, an electronics reseller business, a church, a coworking office space, and The Gabriel Project. At one period, he ran the largest sales team in an entire business and reaped about a billion dollars in revenue. For him, being hyper-focused is a critical part of his personality that gets him to make things happen. He has a very singular “go big or go home” mind process.[12:35] Fusing Faith and BusinessMike has experienced working entirely on business, entirely on ministry, and a hybrid of the two.His experiences led him to focus on business primarily, using it to support a non-profit to help others. We usually value what we are involved in the most, making us opinionated about what others are doing.[16:41] All About WorkLodgeWorkLodge was founded on a need to create and provide a workspace and community for entrepreneurs. This was before coworking spaces became a trend. Established in 2013, the company has helped many entrepreneurs focus on their business by providing facilities. The goal was to build a meaningful network of organic, two-way relationships.[21:33] “People need to be connected to other people. They want to be authentic, passionate, generous, humble, and be a little “bonkers.”One of their principles is to do what’s best for the business, including taking care of people. Processing everything through that lens helps Mike find answers and know the directions he needs.[22:22] “The idea of exceptional service is . . . the Bible says that whatever you do, do it as if you do it for God.” - Click Here to Tweet This[29:04] The COVID Impact on the CommunityFrom a staffing perspective, there is a lot of anxiety, worry, and fear surrounding the pandemic. It’s hard for him to see colleagues’ businesses fail. This experience was the foundation of her relationship with God, along with the rest of her life and relationships.[10:39] Challenges as a TeenAlthough there were still challenges, Cherice felt a call to ministry after her encounter that night. The whole trajectory of her life, including her plans, changed because of it.Cherice wanted to learn the foundation of the word “ministry” and start her leadership journey in the ministry. She ended up going to Christ for the Nation, a bible school in Dallas.Despite facing pressure to go to a traditional college, she felt instant belongingness in the bible school.[14:05] What Calling MeansCalling is the innate desire we feel inside of our hearts to make a difference. Some of them were family members.Good and open communication is key to avoiding issues when running a business from a distance. They constantly remind themselves of the work they’re doing because, as humans, we can get discouraged fast. Everything is part of God’s plan.[31:53] “We have to continue to remind each other all the time of the work we're doing because you get discouraged fast.” - Click Here to Tweet This[33:35] Weighing Between Business and CallingCherice did not struggle with balancing ministry and business. All is ministry as long as you’re obedient to God’s calling for the season.Everyday life is ministry, not just your occupation.Listen to the full episode to know how Cherice’s family acquired and overcame th

He recently became a grandfather — a "game-changer" in his life.He also experienced a lot of grief seeing people in masks and living in fear. Tim also endured family health issues and coping with the news. Many people went through financial challenges due to businesses shutting down from the lockdowns. It has been a year that no one ever thought we would experience in our lifetimes.    [10:31] Learnings Points And Things We Can Be Grateful For2020 gave us plenty of opportunities to do better. We have to understand that we are responsible for our success and what we do with our lives. There are some things we can implement to gain control over our success even when things are difficult.  Tim talked about the five key growth areas he had observed with himself. He shares his work with his clients and interviews with people. He calls these five key growth areas control, decide, partner, grow, and implement.[13:49] Five Key Growth Areas: ControlTim felt really out of control during the early months of the year because he felt limited by the travel restrictions imposed during the lockdown period. As a person who loves being in control of his world and situation, the loss of control irritated and drained him tremendously. As we head into 2021, understand what you can control and not worry about the rest. Focusing on the things you can't change will only frustrate you and prevent you from being grateful for the present items in your life.[18:48] Five Key Growth Areas: DecideAsk yourself: How do I define success?Due to the pandemic, a lot of people's situations had to change. These shifts allowed us to recognize what is essential to us and decide what nourishes our soul, what we're designed and created to do. [20:47] "I believe that one decision that most of us will have because everything was stripped away over this last year, we're going to decide where we live. And when I say where we live, for those that are followers of Christ, we call that place the Kingdom of God.” - Click Here to Tweet This[22:07] Five Key Growth Areas: PartnerLook at the people and resources around you that can help you redefine success or gain success as we move into 2021.Don't isolate yourself; reach out and communicate with people.Understand that there are people around you that are willing to help you, and there are people who need your help — we need each other more than ever. One of the values of having a coach is that it forces interaction with someone who's got your best interest in mind.[25:01] Five Key Growth Areas: GrowIn Carol Dweck's book Mindset, she talked about the two types of people: people who have a growth mindset and people who have a fixed mindset.Read more, listen to podcasts, watch growth-oriented videos on Youtube, or get a mentor.People who aren't growing will feel their lives sink.Commit to growth and become prepared for the difficult times in the future.Feed your mind with things that nourish it.[27:57] "People that aren't focused and putting an incredibly intense effort into growth and growing themselves . . . I don't care what your background is. It doesn't have to continue if you didn't like it. And if you did, then make sure it does. If it is a beautiful legacy, then keep it going.
