Tim observes we are currently going through a recession. He shares his experiences in a conference for real estate investors where the industry was doing well until around April-May 2022 but suddenly facing huge challenges. Before the pandemic, good leaders and organizations could get great results because of the atmosphere. Now, even good leaders are struggling to succeed. We all say "normal" is pre-pandemic, but we must face the reality that life will never be the same. [09:24] Redefining Your Success in 5 StepsBecoming successful requires tactics, strategies, mission, purpose, and identity. Most teams and leaders stay in the tactical zone; only some move up to the strategic level. Strategy is when you can think far ahead and strategize regarding where you're going.Your mission is your bigger picture assignment; your purpose is what you're created for. Finally, identity is knowing who you are. [13:25] Know Your Identity [13:30] “Just because we say it in a sentence, or we come up with a nice, cute saying for a purpose, or vision statement, that doesn't mean when you look in the mirror, it's who you really believe that you are.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisMany organizations have mission and purpose statements, but these statements don't necessarily align with what they really are. There are only two identities people can have — orphan or adopted. The orphan identity means you do not have a connection to God, while an adopted identity indicates an understanding of your part in God’s creation. It will benefit you to reflect on your organization's identity. In the full episode, Tim shares a couple of questions to guide you. Remember, God created you for something great. [16:43] “You are created for something great. And I believe you are created by a heavenly Father that loves you and wants the best for you...That is one of the most important things that we can understand about ourselves, and that we can understand as a truth.” - Click Here to Tweet This[18:12] How to Stand Out and ThriveStrategic people can stand out in a world where most people are tactical. Remember, we’re going through a time when we can’t just be good with tactics. Organizations and leaders can realign themselves, but you may need help from a coach or consultants. Don't hesitate to reach out. [20:38] “Try to do things on your own [and] try to make some adjustments. But if you need some help, don't hesitate to reach out and get it.” - Click Here to Tweet This[22:20] Develop Your Identity, Purpose, and MissionMost people don’t understand who they are. Make the time to reflect on your identity. Tim shares that he's an ambassador for God. His identity spills over to all areas of his life. Since Tim’s purpose is to be an ambassador, he relies on his communication skills to spread God’s Word. His mission has changed over time, but his purpose remains the same.Knowing your identity, purpose, and mission will then affect how you create strategy and tactics. For Tim, this means establishing Seek Go Create and writing books. [27:06] “If I were to just do the tactics without understanding all the other things, then it makes it fuzzy or unclear as to why I'm doing it and what I'm doing, and how it fits together.” - Click Here to Tweet

However, you might realize that while you’re still struggling, God has always walked alongside you. You were never isolated and never alone. You can connect with him through his email or Facebook.Episode Highlights[03:55] Bart, the LearnerBart primarily aims to learn and seek. One of the best ways he learns is through conversation and writing. He gains so much every time he talks to other folks and whenever he writes. As an entrepreneur, he started four companies that still stand despite facing numerous challenges.Bart is also a father, a grandfather, and a husband. For many, including Bart, what you do to make money is different than what you do in life.[06:48] Singing the Same SongsSurvival and stability are the first two stages in life. Once you're stable, people aim for significance in life in the final stage.Bart is currently writing another book about wellness. He wrote his previous book because he wanted to share his experience going through tough times. Everyone is singing the same song about hardships and struggles. While people may experience these songs differently, we can share what we know with each other.Unfortunately, the world splits us apart, making us feel alone in our lives. People should connect with other people.[07:52] “We're all singing the same song but we’re just on different verses, different places.” - Click Here To Tweet This[09:50] Going Back in TimeZig, a significant influence in Bart's life, once said that he would not change anything in his past. Doing something different in your past might not lead to who you are and where you are today.Bart’s wife helped him through difficult times. Together, they often attended church but weren’t truly present. If he could go back, Bart would tell himself to trust God and talk to him more. Write down your experiences to clear your mind and let it out.Looking back at his journals, Bart realized that many of his hardest times weren't that bad. Often, he realized he overreacted and that these challenges led to good opportunities.[16:38] To Know and to Trust GodYou can’t trust somebody you don’t know. Bart didn’t truly know God. Simply attending church, relying on devotionals, and not studying God’s Word can lead to a shallow foundation of trust in God.The way to knowing God is in reading Scripture, pray, be quiet, and listen. When you talk and build a connection with God, you can hear Him more clearly.Bart wakes up in the mor

This split pits people against each other. This chip on his shoulder motivated him to escape and experience a better life. However, he also realized how these two sides exist to keep people in place. It drove him to encourage people to turn their cons into pros.[22:41] “It's things that are politically just put in place to keep people on a certain level of mindset and mentality.” - Click Here To Tweet This[23:00] Joel’s Religious AnchorJoel is the son of a preacher. Reaching Forgiveness with Dr. Ronald Ramsey
Is unforgiveness getting in the way for you to heal? Is it preoccupying you or dragging you down? We all walk around with an idea of how we think people should treat us. This harm is adequately absorbed by the body, which can manifest downward linear growth and diseases that require medical care.Dr. Ronald Ramsey, author, marriage counselor, and clinical chaplain, joins us in this episode. Episode Highlights[04:26] Veta’s MissionVeta's mission is to positively impact people — to see them step out of their comfort zones and think of their problems differently. She is a firm believer in ‘paying it forward.’Veta wrote 'Take Six' as a passion project to reach, mentor, and help more people. However, she shares that the world has become so complex and divisive that making an impact feels like one individual at a time. Veta encourages people to have conversations and strive for impact amid the potentially exhausting environment. She believes that impact will nourish our souls. [11:56] Veta’s Biggest Life InfluencesVeta's most significant influence is her parents. She grew up focusing on what's possible — the things she can control.Veta had a strong sense of personal accountability and pushed herself to get good grades. Veta's parents also taught her to become known for good things. She can easily be comfortable in environments where she might be unique. It also made her more empathetic for underrepresented people — individuals whose background, upbringing, race, religion, or sexual orientation were different from hers. Despite being different, Veta never assumed the victim role. [19:28] Veta’s Professional DevelopmentVeta’s biggest takeaway from her professional development is self-ownership. She takes responsibility for her goals. She is a business and management graduate but wanted to work in corporate law. She sent out hundreds of application letters to corporate lawyers but all she got were rejections.Eventually, Veta learned about Sunoco, but there were no positions available. She proposed a volunteer internship because she just wanted the experience. She worked for Sunoco for ten years before moving to a non-profit organization, American Corporate Counsel Association.[25:31] The Difference in Profit & Non-ProfitProfit organizations are people- and resource-heavy. Conversely, non-profit organizations do not have a lot of resources, forcing people to learn to navigate and figure things out themselves. Veta shares that there is more opportunity to impact non-profit organizations because there are assigned lanes for the employees. Bigger organizations can afford more time and encounter analysis paralysis, whereas smaller organizations need to be nimble because of the limited resources. Thus, we desire to have the character traits of someone with strength and wisdom.[09:04] “Leadership and life is harder and has more issues for the low character person or for the person with limited character.” - Click Here To Tweet This[09:40] What Makes a Good LeaderWhen people who are not good and kind get elevated into leadership roles, the fact that they're not good people gets magnified.Part of Tim's mission is to get people thinking about what it means to be a kind person, so it spills over into leadership. It’s tough for someone who’s a jerk to implement positive traits.Leaders are grossly unprepared for the possible idolization that comes with leadership.Character is extremely important. Pride and ego typically cannot handle the pedestal people get placed on.[12:08] The Impossibleness of Living Up to the Leadership RoleThe nature of social media results in hypercriticism of the leadership role, which is oftentimes unfair. An average person who’s not trying to work on character issues cannot handle the pressure of great success.Leaders don’t have as much control as we think they do. Many times, they’re just positioning things.A primary thing a leader should do is to create an atmosphere so they and others can succeed.Leaders must have basic foundations to handle complexities of leadership.[14:13] Three Leadership Basic Character Traits and the Three Biggest Leadership MistakesThe three basic character traits are love, faith, and peace. These are the three foundational items people should have to be successful in a leadership role. The opposite of these basic character traits is the biggest leadership flaws or mistakes. These are apathy, being self-focused, and chaos.[16:22] #1: Apathy[18:43] “When someone does a good job, catch them doing it and give them verbal praise or some type of praise right then and there because if you do not, that is not showing love, and it's being apathetic. You do not want to be someone showing apathy.” - Click Here To Tweet ThisApathy manifests when you are not thinking about your people or leaders on a regular basis. Sales culture focuses on the sales team and the organization as a whole. Altogether, they should support the team.[03:29] Sales Culture in Today’s WorldRon would grade the current sales culture of the world a C plus. More and more people develop a self-focus mindset instead of a customer-focused one. There are four kinds of customers. Two are the customer who buys the products and services and the employee who serves the buying customers.A culture that operates on purpose instead of tasks focuses on achieving an outcome. It drives better decision-making skills and prioritization of tasks.Having a clear purpose is critical for the culture. When Ron works with an organization, he first focuses on the C suite to align their purpose and direction.[06:27] “That outcome invariably drives your decision-making process. And if you're driven by outcome in that task, you will be making better decisions. And you'll do a better job of prioritizing what tasks you should really be working on that are germane to that outcome.” - Click Here to Tweet This[08:35] Empathy in MindsetThe unintended conflict between different departments can result from the different mindsets and actions of the individuals.Empathy is an essential trait for sales executives. Being empathetic contributes to the right mindset. It improves your ability to create emotional connections and influence.A customer-focused mindset uses empathy to get to know the customer's struggles. How to #KeepGoing from Life’s Greatest Challenges with Mari Tautimes
We've all experienced challenges that completely changed how we view the world. Some of these remain a big part of our daily operations, which keeps us helpless and stuck. But while it can be excruciating, we have the power to take control of our lives. With focus, willingness, and action, we can grow and break free from the past experiences that hinder us. And as long as we keep going, we can start building the life we truly want.Mari Tautimes discusses in this episode how she overcame the life challenges she shared in her book #KeepGoing. She introduces the concept of integration in place of seeking "balance" in our lives. She speaks about the power of accepting the messiness in our lives and overcoming the challenges that come with it. Finally, Mari gives us a glimpse of her definition of success and why it’s not following another successful person's path.If you want to know how to #keepgoing as a complex individual with a unique story, this episode is for you!3 Reasons to Listen:Understand why you should accept the messiness in your life.Learn how to break free from being in a place of privileged unconscious incompetence.Discover the danger of following other people’s success journey.ResourcesCoach: A Story of Success Redefined, a novel by Tim WindersEOS Worldwide#KeepGoing by Mari TautimesTony Robbins’ websiteDeep Work by Cal NewportThe Enneagram Personality Test5 Love LanguagesTraction by Geno WickmanDiSC AssessmentMyers-Briggs Type IndicatorKolbe A™ IndexThe 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. So they are processing their own life and their own struggles in this psychological safety of my story.” - Click Here To Tweet This[04:42] Integration, not BalanceThere’s no such thing as “balance”; instead, there is the integration of all parts of your life. The wheel of life allows you to score where you are in life. There will be seasons of life where one thing will be at 0 to 1 for years. That’s because it’s not time to address it yet.Having a constant awareness of the seasons of your life allows you to make necessary course adjustments[06:51] Accepting the Messiness in Our LivesAll segments of your life are integrated. It’s not good to compartmentalize. It’s about accepting the messiness that comes with different parts of our life and having self-compassion.Self-compassion is about creating a pause in your day. It comes with responsibility or the ability to control your response.Once we become conscious and aware of the messiness in our lives, we can make different decisions.[12:32] The Challenge for WomenThe roles society has ascribed to women have made the process more challenging for women. Not being the same person in each of those roles makes it easier. For one, it's harder for women to climb the ladder to the next position.Inclusion means accepting people for their whole life and the other roles they have in their lives. However, it can make a woman feel inadequate at work and home.Women are naturally terrible delegators. One exercise to address this is to “delegate to elevate.”[18:31] Being in a Privileged PositionBeing privileged is not even knowing something’s an issue. Many of us have some level of privilege, from our gender, race, etc. Many people recognize the system but are not talking or are scared to talk about it.Sticking your neck out is difficult, but it’s about raising awareness and having empathy.Going from unconscious incompetence to conscious incompetence is a highly uncomfortable place. But it's a starting point for getting involved.[23:57] The Story of #KeepGoing[24:19] “That's the risk, first of all, of writing something so deeply personal and sharing something so deeply personal because people are going to read it from their perspective, from their lenses, their lenses in

The Seven Foundations of Freedom
Do you feel free with your life, or are you in pursuit of freedom only you understand? Have you ever thought about what attaining freedom really means? Freedom means different things to different people. Like other complex concepts, there's no one way to define freedom. However, there are foundations of freedom that can guide us toward living a free life in the bigger picture. In this episode, Tim discusses seven foundations of freedom. He talks about how others define the concept and its “ultimate” form in the spiritual sense. Finally, Tim shares the story of the 100-year-old Guinness World Record holder for working at one company for 84 years. If you’d like to learn how to work on your life’s seven foundations of freedom, tune in to this episode! 3 Reasons to Listen: Reflect and understand your definition of freedom. It's about the person who set a world record for having worked in one job for the longest period.[02:54] Seek, Go, Create Audience’s Definition of FreedomTim turned to the podcast audience’s definition of freedom. Some say that freedom is never free, life-changing, something you fight for, and only achieved in peace. Some also brought up the different types of freedom, i.e., spiritual and worldly.Others say it is another word for “nothing left to lose,” “found in Jesus,” “having choices,” and “elusive in this world.”[10:49] Freedom and Independence DayWe often associate the word with Independence Day. The events during the holiday are related to the word in many ways. But there are various layers to freedom, including spiritual, physical, financial, and political.[12:53] #1: Freedom is Not Specific to a Country, Politics, or Geographic LocationThis sentiment is near to Tim’s heart because he and his wife do not have a geographic-specific location. The USA doesn’t own the concept of freedom. There is freedom in other parts of the world. Many people feel limited in life because they believe their children must attend school in one geographic area. Homeschooling showed Tim that this is not the case. There's a certain degree of freedom in not believing that you have to live in one place.Political structures, in reality, are all about limiting a lot of freedom. No political party is “freer” than the other.[16:14] “There's a certain degree of freedom to not believing that you have to live in one place.” - Click Here to Tweet This[18:46] #2: Other People’s Opinions Do Not Impact FreedomWe have the freedom not to allow what other people think about us to control us.Freedom has to do with the ability to control our world and life.Other people's opinions significantly impact the elements explored in the first foundation. The other side of the coin is allowing those opinions to control us.Social media has a huge role to play in this. It allows both positive and negative comments to impact what we think about ourselves.[18:51] “Freedom is not impacted by other people's opinions. In other words, we have the freedom to not allow what other people think about us to control us.” Click Here to Tweet This[20:54] #3: Freedom from Emotional TurmoilWe often allow our emotions to control us.Relating to the second foundation, we allow what other people think of us to impact our emotions and seep into our souls.Allowing our emotions to control us impacts many things in our disposition.Freedom from emotional turmoil doesn’t mean being emotionless. It’s about not allowing negative, destructive emotions to control us.Emotional turmoil robs us of the freedom we have the opportunity for in life.[23:14] #4: Freedom of TimeIt’s the ability to do what you want to do when you want to do it.There’s freedom when we’re free from the burden of the past or the future. There’s also freedom when can operate in the present. What does “eternal life” really mean? What is the freedom we may have if we truly understand this concept? It’s also about freedom from death that ties down with spiritual freedom.[24:40] “There's freedom when we're not burdened by either the past or the future—we're able to really operate in the present.” - Click Here to Tweet This[26:51] #5: Having Clarity and Meaning in our Purpose in the WorldMany of us go through life without understanding where we fit in the bigger picture. There’s freedom when we gain clarity on what our assignment is in God’s Kingdom. There’s a lot of freedom in knowing what we’re destined and not destined to do.[27:32] “I think there are ti

Digital enables us to stay in touch with family and loved ones, but it leaves you wanting.[12:36] “COVID actually was a wonderful moment for greeting cards. People who survived failed ventures become tougher and more knowledgeable. Business school cannot help you solve all the challenges you encounter in the business world. Becoming an Effective Modern-Day Leader
Every day, we strive to be the best leaders we can be. Leadership is foundational for success in any setting, from business and ministry to personal life. However, being a leader in today's world poses numerous challenges, as we frequently lose sight of what authentic leadership entails. In this episode, Tim reminds us of what makes good leadership. When we make mistakes or falter as a leader, we must always fall back on the importance of our relationship with God. By reflecting on what God wants us to do, we can see the path toward effective leadership more clearly than before. Listen to the episode to learn how good leadership is linked to stewardship and seeking God's heart.3 Reasons to Listen:Find out how Tim and several other listeners define leadership so that you can draw yours.Learn how good leadership is inextricably linked to our relationship with God.Understand modern challenges affecting effective leadership and how to overcome them.ResourcesSpiritual Leadership: Who Needs It? by Chip Brogden1 Samuel 8: 4-22 from the Holy BibleWhy the Ultimate Leader is a Steward Leader from Season 3 of Seek, Go, CreateEpisode Highlights[02:24] The Issue with Today's LeadersThis episode's topic was ignited by Tim’s disappointment over leaders who no longer lead and represent Christ. Many people have lost faith in leaders and no longer believe what they see or hear in politics. He calls both political parties' leaders hypocritical because they advocate for one thing while doing something else, shattering our trust.[04:12] Leadership and FaithChip Brogden's article was about his struggles with organized religion.Chip's relationship with God was formed through being led by the Lord rather than through churches and religion. It is challenging to have a genuine relationship with God in modern times because of spiritual leadership's authoritative and dictatorial nature.[06:24] Leaders from the Old TestamentTim reflects on the ineffective leadership depicted in the Book of Judges. It is an example of people disconnecting from their faith and reconnecting with God because of a highly flawed judge, then repeating the cycle after a few years. This cycle reflects modern times and how we need a push to rekindle our spiritual relationship with God, even though we should have one regardless of circumstance.[08:37] The Prophet Samuel and LeadershipTim uses scripture to define good leadership. The people of Israel begged the prophet Samuel to give them a leader in the Book of Samuel, but it was not God's perfect will. For wisdom and guidance, Christ's followers must go directly to God.However, our desire to go to people who act as intermediaries between God and us causes failure and the challenges we face in our faith.[08:45] "I believe that often what we’re doing with leadership is we’re trying to do something like the nation of Israel was doing in the book of Samuel. We’re begging for something that is not the perfect will of God. It’s God’s permissive will." - Click Here to Tweet This[11:21] The Ultimate LeaderTim shared his thoughts on leadership from a Bible school setting in a previous podcast episode and how this example deviated from Christlikeness, which grieved him.People are torn between creating an organization that appears to care for everyone involved and genuinely showing Christ-like love to others. We can avoid turning our leaders into idols by being cautious of them. Expecting more from our leaders creates problems in various systems, including political and religious ones.[12:59] "First of all, I want to put the responsibility on us, as people that attempt to have leaders that we expect more out of than we should. Intentional Disruptions: Choosing to Take Action with Ben Breier
The onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we see the healthcare system. It’s understandable to start to lose confidence in it. He gives us an insider perspective on telemedicine and how it can improve our relationship with healthcare. He’s built on decades of experience at nearly every industry level and distilled what he’s learned into lessons that leaders — regardless of industry — can reference to make intentional disruptions by being prepared, intentional, and fearless.Episode Highlights[01:52] Introducing Benjamin BrierBen Brier is a health executive and the former CEO of Kindred Healthcare, where he served for nine years. Ben describes himself as a blue-collar operator of businesses who has worked his way to becoming the CEO of a publicly-traded Fortune 500 company. He specializes in managing companies with “large geographic disbursement of lots of different service sites.”Ben left Kindred Healthcare after it was sold to another strategic healthcare company in Nashville.Ben authored Intentional Disruption, a book on leadership lessons in healthcare, business, and beyond.[10:35] The COVID Pandemic and Working From Home Ben sees the pandemic as an opportunity to get himself off the road. Since the pandemic started, Ben has started to take more care of his physical and mental health.Ben follows a structured morning schedule with a workout regimen, meditation sessions, a good breakfast, and reading time.[11:12] The State of the Healthcare IndustryHealthcare is a very, very complex industry. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed significant issues in our healthcare system, especially in terms of socio-economic disparities. The elderly — our parents and grandparents — are the primary benefactors of our healthcare system. This raises several questions for the industry such as “Where will the money come from?”, “Who pays for it?”, and “How and how much do you get?”[13:47] “Healthcare is a very, very complex industry. It is not easily understood by most who utilize it, by most who provide care in it, and by most who pay for that care.” - Click Here to Tweet This[18:16] The Role of the Pharmaceutical IndustryThe pharmaceutical industry has become both a blessing and a curse within the healthcare system. Many great things have come from research and development, and the deployment of drugs and medicine in the country has helped people live better and longer lives. On the other hand, these companies have also made millions of money from deriving these “historical drugs.”[22:23] Regaining Confidence in the Healthcare SectorIt’s understandable to start to lose confidence in the healthcare system, especially in a world where social media and disinformation are prevalent. Every time you start to doubt the healthcare system, think of the physicians, nurses, therapists, and aides who risk their lives every day. Our personal experiences with health workers, including physicians and clinicians, allow us to regain confidence in the healthcare sector. The digitalization of healthcare (i.e., telemedicine) now allows people to talk to doctors from their homes. This development gives people access to the kind of care they need without having to deal with the other aspects of the system. Serve God, Not Mammon: Addiction Recovery From Wanting More
Society has conditioned us to want more — riches, houses, cars, followers — we can't get enough. It's not wrong to be ambitious, but addiction to ambition will lead you down a dangerous path. Addiction recovery means understanding that God is more than enough. As a Christian, you may think you're immune to this addiction since you have a relationship with God. But you're more susceptible than you think. Think about the belongings you've accumulated, how much more you want to earn, how you compare yourself to others. In this episode, we talk about how an addiction to more can distract us from serving God. Having a relationship with God is not a single decision but a continuous process — you need to keep choosing Him no matter what. We also talk about practical ways you can practice addiction recovery, refocus your attention, and resist the temptation of serving mammon: the representation of the world and materialism.Listen to the full episode if you want to strengthen your relationship with God and resist the hold of addiction to more. 3 Reasons to Listen:Understand what an addiction to more is and why it harms our relationship with God. Tim also realized his upcoming novel has an underlying theme of addiction. We may think that we're blessed with all kinds of growth without realizing we're becoming addicted to getting more. Some people will want to experience as much as possible when they believe life on Earth is all there is. As Christians, we need to remember that life on Earth is short, and Heaven is eternal.[11:36] What Is an Addiction to More? Many Christians claim to serve God and His Kingdom, but their actions do not reflect their words. Most people think addiction means substance abuse, sex, pleasure, and alcohol. They typically have a negative connotation and are something hard to control. However, society applauds and even rewards addiction to more and material gain. Growth is good, but addiction to it can be dangerous. We've learned to accept the addiction to more. When we become focused on more, it’s really about God not being enough.[15:18] “I was a spiritual Christian. Yet, I was looking for bigger houses and more business. I would wake up every morning thinking about more and more and more, and thinking that that's what I was designed and created for. I do think that growth is a good thing, but addiction to growth is not necessarily a good thing.” - Click Here to Tweet This[17:50] How Addiction Harms Our Relationship With God For Christians, our relationship with God should be our priority. If we believe that we need more, we won't think God is enough, and we won't trust Him. This attitude may lead to you wanting to be a god and chase things for yourself. [19:25] Addiction to Success Tim shares a synopsis of his upcoming book in the full episode. The novel is about a man going on a journey to redefine success and find addiction recovery from his need to acquire more.Stay tuned for the novel’s release on May 17! [22:36] The Addiction to More Is Not New The addiction to more is not exclusive to the current times. The Bible describes how people back then defined "more" on their terms rather than through God.The Israelites were freed from Egypt to go to their Promised Land. Even though God's plan was clear, they complained and wanted more comfort on their terms. Addiction recovery requires that we be satisfied with God alone. [26:37] Why We Can’t Serve God and Be Addicted In Philippians 4:10-14, Paul talks about being content with whatever he has, be it little or much. In Matthew 6:24, Jesus reminds us that we cannot volunteer for two masters. We will naturally hate one and love the other; you cannot serve God and mammon. Mammon is the god of materialism; we may interpret it as money and riches. Materialism is the desire and craving for more. We live in a world that drives us to want more. In the full episode, Tim shares how his family was forced to sell their belongings when his business was failing. He realized how much stuff he accumulated over the years.[33:37] “You cannot serve God and the addiction to more, it's only one or the other.” - Click Here to Tweet This[38:26] Who Do You Serve? [06:46] On Identity IssuesSome people are uncomfortable with defining who they are. Work is so revered in American society that it has become a part of people's identities. When you recognize that your identity is anchored to your work, you start having the tough conversations. [09:56] Materialism and WorkPeople are enamored with hustle culture because society has taught us that our value equals the sum of our professional successes. As our society progresses, we must consider how we can stay Christ-centered.[15:53] Root of Hustle Culture Michaela acknowledges that she has no idea what causes workaholism. We are called to work for God's Kingdom.America worked hard to construct a new empire and become a world leader.[16:58] “As people of faith, we are always living in multiple kingdoms. They eventually established a creative agency, which they continue to operate today. She pursued a Ph.D. in Practical Theology, with her dissertation focused on work in the changing world. Her field of interest led her to become the Chairwoman of the De Pree Center. The books she wrote and her work in the center help leaders across industries to live lives with Christ at the center. [23:23] Knowing Max De Pree Michaela learned from Max not to compartmentalize work from living the word of God. Max considers the mission of the Lord as integral to his business and the product they make. [26:42] Redefining Success and FailureThere are a lot of success models that don't work. Tune in to the full episode to know the questions Michaela asks in defining success. People are more comfortable talking about their failures than their successes. Each person has their own definition of success, and practicing empathy leads us toward that vision. [31:36] Faith and Work Society only applies faith in certain aspects of life, and work is not included. It’s the little things that help us toward our life’s purpose. The story of the Good Samaritan tells us how empathy can be a tool in discovering our own path. Calling is a nesting doll in which you can locate the invitation to belong to God at its core. Listen to the whole episode to hear the other remaining layers. [37:39] “Working and calling are not the same thing. It's just nowhere in the Bible, does it say that calling equals paid work.” - Click Here to Tweet This[42:19] Our AssignmentCalling suggests permanence. It’s better to use the term “assignment” because it’s more natural and versatile. However, Michaela still wants to use the word calling because it suggests that we’re compelled to follow God. Compelling others results in genuine followership. [47:15] On Impatience Impeding Calling Society has become too impatient in finding its calling. People must see time as an asset instead of a hindrance. [52:47] Conflic

The Fourth Foundational Principle of Success: The Wisdom of God and How To Not Fool Ourselves
Every day, we face mountains of information. The question is, do you know how to discern what is true? Many of us seek wisdom through experiences and research, but that's worldly knowledge. Our abilities are limited. We cannot know everything, but the wisdom of God can light your path. True wisdom — the wisdom of God — comes through the Holy Spirit. When you feel overwhelmed by choices and stress, you need to go to the Lord and let Him guide us.In this episode, we discuss definitions of wisdom. True wisdom doesn't come only from earthly achievements but through walking with the Lord and trusting in the wisdom of God. Tim also shares three ways to develop wisdom and reconnect with the Holy Spirit. Listen to the episode if you want to find out how to develop humility, avoid fooling yourself, and gain God-given wisdom.3 Reasons to Listen:Learn what wisdom is, as well as the definition of the wisdom of God. For Christians, wisdom comes from a relationship with God. Tim believes wisdom doesn't necessarily come from education, training, and titles.Leadership positions do not mean you have wisdom. You are responsible for gaining and developing your wisdom. We shouldn't believe everything church leaders teach. We must discern whether they're wise or not. We live in a world with a lot of disinformation and people stating things as though they’re the truth. [11:13] What Do People Think of Wisdom? Tim took to social media to ask followers what they think wisdom is. Among the responses were: ‘fear of the Lord,’ ‘discernment,’ ‘true wisdom is God-given,’ ‘sharing knowledge,’ ‘application of right and good,’ ‘learning from mistakes,’ and more!We often gain wisdom and lessons during difficult times. It also comes from listening and learning from others. Wisdom comes from the Word of God, but you need to have faith that they’re true. Discernment is then the byproduct of wisdom.[21:55] How Do We Gain Wisdom? One of the foundations of wisdom is gathering information from others. We need to cultivate a spirit of humility. It's dangerous to think that we know more than others.[22:29] “It's so easy in the world we're in today to kind of get puffed up and think we know things and think we're smart and think we've gathered information. One of the things that we need to be wise about is to admit, maybe we don't.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisRemember, our wisdom comes from the Holy Spirit, and it is the wisdom of God that we need. We have a relationship with the Holy Spirit because of our relationship with God. In the full episode, Tim shared a story about how he needed to connect with his RV's manufacturer to repair it. Similar to the RV, God created us with intent. We need to connect with our Creator.[29:03] “We are created. One of the most important things for us to be able to do is to connect with our Creator.” - Click Here to Tweet This[30:20] God’s Reminders About Wisdom Humanity fell from God's grace after being created. However, God still loved us enough to send a helper, the Holy Spirit, to guide us to reconnect with Him. The Book of Proverbs reminds us not to rely on the understanding of man. Instead, we should trust in the Lord; He will direct our path.[31:12] “Chapter two of Proverbs talks about the value of wisdom. In chapter three, verse five, ‘trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, He shall direct your paths.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisDo not think that you’re wise; it is the wisdom of God we need, not that of man.[32:21] How to Reconnect with the Holy SpiritThere will be times when you feel connected and disconnected from the Holy Spirit. It’s hard to find a connection to the wisdom of God when we’re too busy and stressed.[34:03] “When we have a lot of stress, it's very difficult to think clearly, it's very difficult to be connected, it's very difficult to hear that voice of the Holy Spirit and to get wisdom from our Creator. We need to seek and have study time.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisGet plenty of rest and adequate sleep. Discernment and decision-making are difficult when we're tired.[34:34] Three Things to RememberWe need to develop humility. Learn to admit that we

Many are surprised upon finding out that Justin is married with children. When he’s traveling outside of New England, Justin encounters unique conversations with people trying to prove their faith to him. Some people do not favor Justin being a pastor due to their previous experience with the church. It disarms some people when he agrees with them. [06:24] Difference between being a Pastor and a ShepherdIn the Bible, these two words are used interchangeably to describe a leader in the church in a governmental way. Shepherding or pastoring means guiding someone along their spiritual journey towards Jesus. Being a pastor means living out your convictions to people; from your flaws to your successes. As a pastor, Justin recognizes that living out his most honest version of himself disarms and helps people. The journey of God’s Grace is transformative. [10:30] Vox Church and its Origin New England is historically known as the least churched region in the United States over the last 75 years. The Vox Church’s name comes from John 5:25. Despite our disconnection from God, we can hear His voice to our inner selves and we come alive.[12:20] "The spiritually dead, every one of us that has an innate desire for God, but a disconnection from him because of our brokenness, because of our sinfulness, now with God’s Grace can be reborn, we can hear His voice, we can experience that mystery of regeneration." - Click Here to Tweet ThisThe Vox Church’s prayer for the past 10 years is to transform New England into the most spiritually vibrant place on Earth. The community started small in New Haven, and then expanded to nine different locations across New England and Connecticut, Massachusetts. The intentional community paradigm is following Jesus’ mission — radically loving and living their most honest and imperfect life together. [15:22] Challenges of a Growing ChurchJustin spent eight years in a traveling ministry before he planted the Vox church. One of the most critical things they did at the start is knowing who they were and what they stood for. The values they adhere to consist of: the centrality of Jesus in the Gospel, intentional community, and the healthy heart of their mission. They embodied and practiced these values, and the same culture replicated among their church.[18:50] "This is something we embodied, practiced, again not perfect, but even in our imperfection, we were exposed, we were honest with our leaders, and with our team, And that culture, because it had language, and it had representation, the culture replicated." - Click Here to Tweet This[20:53] What keeps Justin GroundedThere are two sides to the issue: the side of the heart and the side of the practical guardrails. One of the most important pieces of advice he got from a fellow pastor is that when the leader sees themselves as a celebrity, it is the beginning of the end.[23:57] "The church doesn’t advance from success to success, the church advances from sacrifice to sacrifice. If you want to be part of this movement, it’s going to mean self-death, it’s going to mean coming low so that God can bring you high." - Click Here to Tweet ThisJustin admits he doesn’t resolve the issue perfectly, but he resolves it by asking himself what he can pull apart from the false narrative of having superiority over oth

For me, it is the respect you show a group of people in order to do something big.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisCurrently, Jen describes leadership as being in a state of confusion where we seek answers to pursue greater endeavors. The difficulties of 2020 have led to the development of directive leadership. The increase in fear has caused drops in emotional control, decision quality, and collaboration.[07:13] The Balance in Leading Leadership is a continuous practice and experimentation process.Directive leadership is needed in cases where you are pressed for time and have difficulty reaching a consensus.Jen recommends a balance of 75 - 80% collaborative and 20 - 25% directive.[09:13] A Perfect LeaderNo one is a perfect example of a leader. Instead, the people have pieces of what is needed to lead the organization.Understanding who you surround yourself with is essential in leadership.Learn to leverage experts in every area of your business to pave the way for good work.[10:50] “You have to understand how to leverage experts as part of your decisions, part of your education, and part of your learning. She was surrounded by business-minded people.[22:10] Early LearningsJen learned that doing the right thing will always lead to something great.Collecting experiences instead of money and titles will lead to what you want to achieve.[22:31] “You have to collect experiences, not money and titles because those experiences start to add up to get you what you want.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisWorking together is an important part of Jen’s experiences.[25:21] “What you're getting in trouble for is what you're really good at because you're too much of it for someone. Generally, men are more able to boast the details of their accomplishments, garnering respect within their surroundings.Jen advises women to articulate the results and impact of their achievements to gain respect as leaders.[36:20]

How to Lead a Significant Life Through Faith with Mark Whitacre
Sometimes, the life of our dreams isn’t the life we need. It’s easy to be caught up in material things and get distracted by shiny objects. We often believe that having a massive house and expensive cars equates to success. Plus, shopping without looking at the price tags and going on expensive trips is a sign of success. But correlating success to financial achievements only brings harm by sowing the seeds of greed. This creates an endless cycle of insatiable desire, wanting more and more yet never feeling satisfied. In this episode, Mark Whitacre recounts the largest price-fixing case in US history that utterly destroyed his life and mind. He discusses how he recovered his faith and hope in the aftermath of this ordeal. Mark also shares the psychological effects of corporate greed and the harrowing experience of working as an FBI informant. Lastly, he goes on to discuss his inspiring story of finding faith and purpose in prison.Listen to this episode if you want to find out what a significant life means.3 Reasons to Listen:Find out Mark’s incredible journey through addiction, loss, and faith.Discover the effects of addiction, corporate greed, and materialism on a person’s mental and spiritual health.Learn how faith can help you lead a significant life.ResourcesThe Informant! by Steven SoderberghConnect with Mark: WebsiteSeek Go Create: Selflessness as the Key to Living a Better Life with Richard LuiCoach: A Story of Success Redefined by Tim WindersSubscribe to our website to get resources from our guests and receive updates on our latest giveaways and episodes.Episode DetailsEpisode Highlights[04:02] Who’s Mark?He is currently 64 years old, and the price-fixing case took place 32 years ago.Back then, he was the Divisional President of the Biotech Division at ADM, a Fortune 500 company.Today, Mark is a father to three adult children with his wife of 42 years and blessed to have a second chance.[05:37] Definition of SuccessThirty-two years ago, success meant the size of his house and the number of jets he had.But today, he believes success is living a meaningful life and the impact you leave behind on the world rather than materialism.[05:57] “I would feel strongly that success is really more a life of significance, kind of what you’re leaving behind when I’m no longer here because I can see the end of life a lot closer than I can the beginning of life.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisAlso, he strongly feels that the younger generation is obtaining wisdom beyond their years to mentor others younger than him.[08:02] The Value of “Significance”All the houses and cars that Mark used to define success are rusty now, thus having no long-term value. His materialistic definition of success was simply selfishness, and so was the leadership shown by Mark and the other executives involved in the price-fixing case.Selfish leadership could have gotten him to the level of Bill Gates.Thinking that there must be more, he learned that no material thing could fill the void in a heart through a journey of brokenness.[12:12] A Background on ADMArcher Daniels Midland (ADM) was one of the world’s largest food additive companies, with 70 billion in revenue and 30,000 employees. It wasn’t a bad company, and the employees worked with the right moral compass. However, four of the top leaders were self-centered, with Mark being the youngest. When you buy a food or beverage, there are likely ingredients from ADM.[14:48] The Price-Fixing CaseIn April 1992, Mark got promoted to Corporate Vice President of ADM.He received a $100,000 bonus and 25,000 stock shares, but bonuses were unusual at the time. However, he was greedy and did not return it.The illegality came up when they discussed passing the baton and mentoring him, but they simply dismissed the laws as outdated. They said it was essential to the commodity business, and he believed them.[20:08] The FBI’s InvolvementThey were having sabotage problems with a $300 million biotech plan they built for a food additive that goes into poultry. It was nerve-wracking that the FBI became involved in the sabotage problem, but there was also a larger price-fixing case that was occurring at the same time. A major expense, when they lived in a mansion with a jet and flashy cars.[25:40] Mark’s AddictionIn 1992, Ginger told him that she would rather have a smaller house and her husband back. She had lost Mark to a whirlwind of temporary success.Being Christian, she brought God into their conversation, but Mark didn’t believe in God due to his scientific education. She accused him of being addicted to work and materialism.[27:55] The True Whi

The Second Foundational Principle to Success: The Meaning of Faith
Turmoil and upheaval make us question our faith. It's easy to get caught up in the chaos of things happening around us. It makes us shortsighted. Worse, it can reach a point where we box ourselves into the belief that the world revolves around us. We lose faith because we think we're alone in our struggles. But that is far from the reality God has planned for us. He created us to succeed and thrive. And only when we put in our pure and absolute trust can we find our meaning of faith. In this episode, Tim delves into faith as the second foundational principle to success. He explains how these principles are instrumental to the main character of his book. He then shares how the podcast listeners define faith from their perspectives. We'll also get a glimpse of the book's definition of faith and how we can learn from it. Finally, Tim shares a heartwarming glorification his wife did for him that reinforced his faith in humanity. If you want to redefine the meaning of faith and success in your life, tune in to this episode! 3 Reasons to Listen:Discover why love comes before faith.Define the meaning of faith.Understand that there is a bigger picture — the world doesn't revolve around a single person.ResourcesCheck out the following Seek Go Create Podcast episodes:Love: A First Foundational Principle to Success From Ministry Worker to International Businesswoman: Mixing Faith & Business with Katie HornorIs God Really in Control | Q&A with Chris Cree The Blue Jeans Christian Podcast by Kevin BrownleeYour Glorious Endeavor by Kevin BrownleeIndiana Jones - Leap of Faith clipThe Ziglar Show with Kevin MillerPOSITIVELY JOY Podcast S2 Ep32: Podcasters talk about Jeep's ad: "In the Middle" with Tim Winders and David WeaverBeyond the Rut Podcast by Jerry DugganSubscribe to our website to get resources from our guests and updates on our latest giveaways and episodes.Grab a copy of Tim's book, Coach: A Story of Success Redefined!Episode DetailsEpisode Highlights[0:42] The Three Foundational Principles to SuccessTim introduced the first foundational principle last time — love. The second one is faith. The three principles are like a three-legged stool; one does not go well without the other two. These three keys are instrumental to the character Tim wrote about in his novel.[02:05] Love Before FaithA lot of people think that faith needs to go first before love. It’s difficult to move into the faith arena without having the slightest bit of love.Understanding love is important before understanding the meaning of faith. [03:25] Redefining Success and FaithAchieving a level of success is possible without having some degree of faith. However, it’s not sustainable.Success without faith is not a true success; it's more of fleeting worldly success. The understanding that the world does not revolve around you is a foundational component of faith.True and purposeful success requires faith. [05:47] Defining FaithTim asked listeners to define faith in 15 words or less. The scene in Indiana Jones called The Leap of Faith is one way to define the meaning of faith.Faith is mastering the calm and knowing the way to move forward is always there.Listen to the full episode to know how Tim’s viewers define the meaning of faith![11:25] “[Faith is] putting legs to trust. Faith speaks and acts.” -Click to Tweet This[13:42] Faith in HebrewEmunah is the Hebrew word for faith.Believing in the power of your Elohim, or God, to do the things you cannot is another meaning of faith.[14:30] Believing in the UnknownMany of the definitions of faith gathered by Tim refer to Hebrews 11.Knowing all is well is the third leg of the three foundational principles to success.Faith is a decision and choice of confidence in something unprovable and without uncertainty.Everyone has a degree of faith in something despite not realizing it.[17:00] “I don't think you can not have faith. You either have faith in yourself, or you have faith in your abilities, or someone else, or the government or things like that.” -Click to Tweet This[17:56] Faith as HopeFaith is a measure we have all received for the expected, unseen — accessed by our ability to hope, dream, and create. It’s knowing unwaveringly that God’s promises are true through eternity.Faith is hope wrapped up in a blanket of peace. It’s taking the next step without a safety net. It's through belief in God's plan that the next generations will have a chance for happiness.[18:00] “[Faith is] a measure we have all been given for the expected unseen — accessed by our ability to hope, dream, and create.” -Click to Tweet This[20:45] The Formula of FaithFaith = belief x action x confidence.Faith is the presence of a correct belief about God.The counterpoint to faith or unbelief means the absence of any belief or the presence of an incorrect one.[21:56] Hebrews 11:1Hebrews 11:1: Faith is the substance of the things hoped for and evidence of things not seen. It's not necessarily believing all that you
