Business & Ministry Mastery, Money, Missions | Q&A with Rob Coburn

The scriptures say we should not serve two masters. We can only choose either God or money. Our hearts and lives may be so consumed by one that we put the other on the sideline. In today’s episode, listen to Rob Coburn share his insights about reconciling money, business, and ministry and building a business ministry that can forward God’s Kingdom and minister to a lot of people. He explains how this can be possible if we realize what we are good at, gain mastery over it, and reach out to a lot of people. If you want to build a business ministry or you are struggling with resolving seemingly conflicting interests in your life, make sure to tune in to this episode! 3 Reasons to Listen:Discover ways to reconcile money, business, and ministry.Find wisdom and insights about leadership and rising above life’s difficulties.Learn what mastery is all about.ResourcesThe Power of a Promise by Rob CoburnLife Cycle Ministry Master Class by Rob CoburnLife Cycle Mastery by Rob CoburnAbout RobRob Coburn is a full-time lead pastor at The Summit Dover. You can also visit their church’s website and Facebook page.Episode HighlightsRob’s Journey from Business to MinistryRob started his business at the age of 16. When he turned 20, he bought another company which his father started.  He juggled several things. At the age of 20, he got married and was running a company while still in college. He had a lot of family members who are ministers. In 2008, he applied automation in his businesses and was able to earn a considerable revenue, which mostly goes to missions. It started with helping missionaries. Then, he became a lead missionary coach who turned him into the minister he is today. Rising Above ChallengesIt was a combination of his entrepreneurial side and the spiritual side. The spiritual aspect played a huge role in raising funds for missionaries. His actions were inspired by scripture. He used his knowledge and resources and sowed them to the people who needed it. He believed God had given him more, and he gained so much by coaching missionaries.Challenges in Business and MinistryStart-up companies often start enthusiastically, and then they realize that things are becoming mundane. There is a need to take that excitement and use it in setting up processes that will keep them from getting stuck in the mire. One way is to replicate yourself and do some automation. The biggest deterrent to growth is people not wanting to do the work. Leadership InsightsAs leaders, it is necessary to invest in your people’s dreams. This can help change their present and everyone else’s future. On Being OpenThe things that we are hiding are holding us back. When we release those things, we gain the power to overcome it. Most of the time, our walls of protection keeps us from achieving our destiny. In his case, help came from his faith community. He opened up to people and let them into his world. His life started to expand and accelerate then. We need to find the people who have our best interests in their hearts. “Get out of your own self and start to go. And when you give people the best that you have, you receive way more than what you give.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisDealing with Life’s TragediesPeople tend to blame themselves, God, or even other people. This is when they start to build up walls in their lives. If people continue building walls brick by brick every single day, it inhibits them from realizing their life’s purpose. Remember God’s love and believe in His power to heal and lift you from every challenge and tragedy. People who are hurt must go beyond themselves to see the hurt in others. “Whenever I change who I was and how I looked at things, the circumstance changed because I started to do so.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisFinding Support“It's awesome to go out and get someone to help you do your business, to help you get to the next level, to help you get over that thing that you need counseling for, or if you're just looking for help in that area. But, number one, don't go to those people until you're ready to do whatever it takes to get there.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisThere are a lot of places where you can get help. Find a good church and a family of believers.Remember that you are not alone. Find the people who believe in the best in you and want to see you recover from your situation.Be careful of people who do not want to genuinely help but only look out for their interests.Restoration is possible.“Investing in people and their dreams changes their present and changes everyone else's future.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisReconciling Money, Business & MinistryRob d

Business As Mission, Money, Capitalism & Socialism | Q&A with Michael Baer

There is a persisting misconception that ministry and business are two completely different worlds. One is holy and for God, and the other is secular and for money. However, there is a movement that integrates both and believes it's even beneficial for the ministry. This movement is called “Business As Mission.”In today’s episode, listen to Michael Baer explain just what “Business As Mission” stands for. He shares his opinion on why we shouldn’t see wealth creation as something negative and how it could actually be aligned with God’s purpose if we do it out of love.Make sure to tune in to our podcast to find out how you can spread God’s gospel through your business.3 Reasons to Listen:Know how to integrate ministry and business in your daily life.Learn how love is present even in the cutthroat world of business.Explore ideas about the capitalist system, our society, and our misconceptions about ministry.ResourcesBusiness As Mission by Michael BaerGospel Entrepreneur: How to Start a Kingdom Business by Michael BaerPurpose by Ben RenshawPolitical Parties by Robert MichelsGood To Great by Jim CollinsEnjoy the most elegant inn experience at the Elizabeth Leigh Inn!About MichaelMichael Baer is a pastor, theologian, and an entrepreneur. He is the author of Business As Mission, a book about the movement behind integrating ministry and business in our daily lives. He is also the  founder and CEO of the Third Path Initiative. This professional organization trains and equips future business as mission (BAM) leaders. If you want to reach out to him, the best way is through his organization’s website. Alternatively, you can connect with him through LinkedIn.Episode HighlightsMichael’s Definition of “Business as Mission”He felt his pastoral and church planter roles were becoming a barrier instead of a bridge.Being in the business world is an extension of God’s calling. There is no division and hierarchy. It’s meant to be a seamless experience of Christ in your life.“Business is the natural extension of my relationship with Christ into wherever He has placed me.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisHow Business Connects PeopleBusiness As Mission started as a spontaneous idea in the mission field in Kazakhstan. It has spread to many parts of Asia and other continents and has now become global.Today, it is a recognized worldwide movement.Reaching the UnreachedThere are still parts of the world that have no sustainable gospel witness, church, ministries, and Bible in their language. They are concentrated primarily in North Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. Around 95% of the unreached people groups live here. The Hierarchy of CallingIt is wrong to believe that full-time ministry is the pinnacle of God’s calling. In reality, we should respond to whatever God’s call is for us.We're equal in Christ, and there's no high or low calling.Relationship Between Ministry, Business & MoneyWe have to start thinking of the Church as the assembly of the body of Christ, and not a mere building.God created the concept of wealth creation to support and serve society.Money is simply a medium of exchange and totally amoral. Money isn’t the root of all evil; love of money is.“It (religion) is what I'm doing to get God's attention and God's approval, and the whole gospel is built on the opposite of that. Everything that starts with me trying to get God's attention, or earn blessings, or please him, or whatever is on the wrong foot.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisOn Funding the KingdomSome people are actually sincere and generous when it comes to money. However, there are some prosperity messages that only selfishly use the kingdom to justify what they do spiritually.God taught about foolish and selfish rich men, but he didn't advocate to be poor.Institutions all have a purpose, and that includes businesses.Capitalism and SocialismCapitalism has flaws, but it doesn't mean communism is any better. In every system, there is someone at the top. Many of us are ignorant of these systems. There is no perfect system. In the book of Acts, the early believers themselves adopted voluntary socialism, but when it is forced, it's broken. The fundamental issue is the heart of man.Christian Business vs. Kingdom BusinessThe point is to look not only at home but also at the world. Many Christian business movements only teach how to be a better follower in comfortable settings, such as their hometown. He now believes there should be no distinction. All the outward traffic of religion has no power. Only the living Christ in us has power.“Everybody in your life, everybody in that business, is a stewardship from God. He has given you those relationships to manage, to nurture, to develop, and so forth.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisLove in a Competitive IndustryIt’s actually impossible to not have love in business.Every relationship in your business is a stewardship from God.The heart of love is to meet needs. It takes you from where you are today to where you want to go in the future.Women in the MinistryAnnie grew up in a family where women in the ministry were honored and encouraged. In earlier times, it was unusual for women to be in teaching roles. At present, we live in a society where women have access to learning just as men do.Faith in Times of GriefAnnie's then-husband, Kevin, passed away when she was 32. Knowing the whole story of something gives you a better understanding of its purpose. Like movies and films, this podcast aims to provide value for the listeners. We strive to share stories that are meaningful and inspirational for you. We want you to join us as we embark on the mission God has given us.In this episode, I share the origin story of Seek Go Create and my experience in creating this podcast. I also discuss what Seek, Go, and Create mean — these words make for a good podcast title, as well as guiding principles in life.Tune in to the full episode to know how this podcast began.3 Reasons to Listen:Learn what led to the creation of this podcast.Discover why I named it Seek Go Create. What can you expect from this podcast?ResourcesVisit our website to access the show notes for all our episodes!Episode Highlights[02:20] Our BackstoryWhatever you are reading, listening, or watching, it is helpful to know its backstory. Our business was doing well before the Great Recession. Because of this situation, we lost everything. We had our home foreclosed, and we were bankrupt.By 2013, we were homeless. My wife and I lived in our van. Meanwhile, we forced our children to find a place to live in.[04:53] Why “Seek Go Create”?I am a follower of Christ, and I believed I had a spiritual foundation. I asked Him what we were doing wrong and what we can do differently.Walking around the golf course, I would beg and ask the Lord to give me direction and instruction. Some might not believe this, but the Lord kept giving me these four words in our conversations: seek, go, create, and now.We meditated on it. Followers of Christ know that these words have spiritual significance.[08:15] “I would be saying things like, ‘Lord, just use me. I want to do what you want me to do. I’m tired of trying to do things on my own power.’” - Click Here to Tweet This[10:31] What “Seek” MeansIn Matthew 6:33, Jesus says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”I found myself in that dire situation because I was seeking things first, not the kingdom of God and His righteousness.[15:16] “I believe, even from a non-spiritual standpoint, it's just good to be a seeker — someone who's looking to do new things, someone who's thinking about new things, someone who's pressing in to learn more, and do things maybe differently, and seeking, seeking, and seeking.” - Click Here to Tweet This[15:45] What “Go” MeansI felt that the Lord was telling us we needed to prepare ourselves to go. However, our life was in our home.Mark 16:15 says this: “And He said unto them, ‘Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.’”We have been traveling since 2013, and we go where we can nourish our souls. We travel to places to do business or ministry.[18:28] What “Create” MeansI have never considered myself creative. I tend to do things over and over again.Because God created us in His image, I believe He made us to be creators.I recently finished my first novel, and then I created this podcast.Running families and raising children take creativity.[19:08] “All this has Biblical roots, Biblical foundations, even though I believe it's part of my business, and I think it has to do with entrepreneurship and everything else. But we were created. I believe we were created.” - Click Here to Tweet This[21:05] The Final Word[21:46] “I believe we can push when we're supposed to rest. And sometimes we could rest when we’re supposed to push or go.” - Click Here to Tweet ThisThe last word that we didn't include in the title is now.Initially, the title should have been Seek Go Create Now!I dropped the word now because timing and rest are important too.[22:29] “Some people are called to stay in one space for a season. And some people, they're supposed to be ready to go to all corners of the earth, to share good news, to do business, to go into the marketplace, to minister to people. We’re supposed to be prepared to go.” - Click Here to Tweet This[23:05] Branding of the PodcastSeek Go Create was not the original name of this podcast. I also didn't want to include my name in the title. My producer and engineer, who is also my son, suggested going with Seek Go Create.I don’t want to limit the topics of this podcast. They act as if everything they have is a blessing and treat it with care and diligence. In today's episode, Tim shares the importance of the processes and systems in organizations. He discusses the importance of a leader's strategic thinking, assessment of risk versus rewards, the anticipation of the future, time, and trust. Tim also talks about taking care of the blessings bestowed upon you and why great leaders are great stewards. If you want to learn the skills and habits that make a leader great, make sure you listen to the full episode!3 reasons why you should listen to the full episode:Discover the skills and habits leaders must practice.Learn how leaders create order out of chaos.Tim shares with us the things he learned about leadership, planning, and project management.ResourcesEpisode DetailsEpisode Highlights[02:06] Tim's BackgroundTim has a degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech. Industrial engineers are usually the people in charge of creating systems and structures to do things more efficiently. His work entails delegating tasks or making automated systems or processes in production. In today's world, systematizing methods are pre-eminent.When Tim encounters teams or businesses struggling, he finds ways to create systems or processes to help them out.     [05:56] A Great Leader Creates Order Out of ChaosSuccessful leaders can take chaotic situations and put them in order. Insecure leaders inject chaos into situations to feed their egos and make them feel needed when things aren't going well.A great leader is responsible—someone who doesn’t create more chaos, overcomplicate issues, and make things harder for their team. Good stewards simplify and repair situations to create order by looking at the organization’s processes and systems.“People that are successful in the leadership roles of organizations, teams, ministries, all those types of things, they have the ability to take chaotic situations and make order out of them.” - Click Here To Tweet This[10:50] Strategic ThinkingA leader must be able to answer the questions regarding their organization’s mission with clarity.Clarity comes from the ability to think strategically. Modern culture tends to overanalyze and overthink due to the overwhelming information available. It hinders people from making intelligent decisions. Practice making quick decisions. Narrow down your options as best as you can, make a choice, and move on. “One of our primary responsibilities is to attempt to provide clarity of the mission, whatever the mission statement is, whatever you're trying to accomplish, as a team, as a family, as an organization, as a ministry, is to clarify." - Click Here To Tweet This[19:09] Risk vs. RewardWhen making a decision, ask yourself: What's the worst thing that can happen?Perform trials, adjust, learn from the results, stop if necessary. Don't let decisions appear as if they are life-altering and will forever change everything.[20:53] Importance of TimeThe lack of time is a significant challenge in modern society.Due to the various devices we have, people do not allow themselves to sit down, reflect, and write their ideas. The ability to focus is one of our biggest challenges today. It deters people from becoming great problem solvers. Take some time to think, change your habits, and alter what you’re doing.   [24:19] Looking Into the FutureSome people get anxious when they try to look into the future or beat themselves up because of their past mistakes. Creating smart plans will be a challenge if you operate with this mindset.Great leaders have to anticipate the future; they are strategic thinkers and planners. Excellent leaders make preparations. We use our past experiences to analyze and make decisions. “Learn from yesterday, focus on today, and plan for tomorrow.” - Click Here To Tweet This[27:05] Planning and Project ManagementOrganizations need methods, structures, or systems in place to address and deal with challenges. It’s easy to fall into using your emotions and getting confirmation bias when making decisions. To avoid this, you need to gather enough data about your organization and what is happening around you.Get a wise counsel: Have a diverse set of people and personalities working with you to have as much knowledge as possible. Get a good coach. Learn from yesterday, focus on today, and plan for tomorrow.   [36:14] On PossessionsBe stewards of the blessings God bestowed upon you. Today's society has become great at manufacturing and marketing, so people accumulate as m

When in doubt, default to listening to gauge the person you’re talking to or what’s going on. Be clear and concise as much as you can. Always attempt to say it with fewer words and don’t be repetitive if it’s not necessary. Overcommunicating is better than undercommunicating. Emphasize all important points and be clear, but make sure you do not come off as repetitive. Determine present barriers to improve communication. Take down walls that may be hindering effective communication. Smile, listen, and call people by their name. “When you talk to a child, get down on their level. How To Lead Me | Season 3 Episode 3

Leadership isn’t just about power and authority over others. Genuine and effective leadership entails stewardship, humility, and true influence. Many people are consumed by the recognition that they let ego and selfishness get in the way of better leadership. However, being a steward means prioritizing other people and taking responsibility for your actions. In today’s episode, our host Tim Winders shares his three most important aspects of effective leadership. He also talks about what mindset leaders should adapt, what actions they should take, and how they should act as true stewards of other people. Before you can lead others, being a leader starts with the self.Tune in to this podcast to learn more about effective leadership!3 Reasons to Listen:Learn more about the proper attitude and mindset that leaders should adapt to attract positivity and influence.Know which actions you should take as a leader, and how your words and thoughts influence these decisions. Find out how to stay accountable as a steward and what your priorities should be.ResourcesEpisode DetailsEpisode Highlights[05:46] The Definition of LeadershipFor Tim, leadership is being a steward over the people, places, and things God has gifted you with.“We need to really remind ourselves that leadership, influence, stewardship, it really does begin with us.” - Click Here To Tweet This[06:55] Attitude of a Leader in Their Effective LeadershipBeing a steward in every setting entails the right attitude and mindset.Attitude is a word that is overused in today’s time.Tim describes an analogy of the kind of things stinky and dirty trash would attract.A negative attitude unsurprisingly attracts bad people, whereas a positive attitude is uplifting and attracts positivity.Do you want a bunch of you around? If you don’t, you need to make some adjustments and change.“One of the biggest threats to effective influence or leadership is pride and selfishness.” - Click Here To Tweet This[10:27] Being Aware of Your AttitudeOne of the best ways to identify your attitude is to sincerely ask someone else close to you.Knowing your attitude is the first step toward change.Your attitude can easily change if you have the foundation to do it.Be aware of your purpose so that you can align your attitude with it.[13:06] Actions of Leaders and Their Effective LeadershipReflect deeply on your thoughts as these are seeds from which your actions come.Likewise, you also need to think about your words, which should line up with your actions. We should watch the things that come out of our mouth before we even speak.Actions aren’t separate from your thoughts and words. They are a result of what we think and speak.[17:52] A Conducive EnvironmentAs leaders, motivation is only a small part of what we can do.Environment has a much bigger impact in terms of motivating people. Most organizations typically create environments that repel people instead of attracting them.[18:55] Strengths and WeaknessesSociety dictates how we perceive our strengths and weaknesses, which relate to how we lead.An overused strength can become a weakness. If you have a strength that gives you energy, you have to embrace it.[24:02] A Leader’s Decision-Making for Effective LeadershipLeaders have to know how to make a firm decision. There are things that need you to make a fast decision and move on.Minimalism can help you reserve your decision-making for more important choices.Manage your time well because if you don’t, someone else will.[26:45] Responsibility and Accountability in Effective LeadershipIt's disturbing to see fewer people in authority actually take responsibility for leading people.Self-awareness is important to understand what having influence entails. The biggest reason people don't have influence is pride and selfishness.Humility is an extremely underrated trait of a leader.Being a leader isn’t about you. It’s a gift from God.“Don't beat yourself up over the past or tomorrow. Don't be thinking about the future so much that you really can't focus on today.” - Click Here To Tweet This[31:36] On Being IntentionalBeing intentional means that you do things with extreme focus. You have to be more focused on today than yesterday. Don’t beat yourself up for the past.Don’t think about the future too much if you can’t even control the present.Leadership is developed in isolation, where you are only surrounded by your thoughts.Learn to manage yourself before you are in a position to influence others.[35:38] Letting Victim Mentality GoDon’t get into the situation of blaming other people and being a victim. We alone are responsible for our own thoughts, attitude, and actions. The stench of victim mentality repels people.“We alone are responsible for our attitude, our thoughts, and our actions because we know that victims allow the stench of blaming others to creep into their lives, and it repels people and therefore negatively influences others.” - Click Here To Tweet This[36:45] On Essentialism and Ef

What Is Leadership? | Season 3 Episode 1

Why do we follow our leaders? You would probably answer because they have authority over you. However, Tim believes there is a leader in each of us. Rather than a position or a title, leadership is about having a mindset of stewardship. In this episode, Tim shares his definition of leadership and what it is not. He talks about how leadership is more of a lifestyle rather than a title or something to be achieved. At some point in our lives, we will all be leaders. This episode is to prepare you to be an everyday leader.3 Reasons to Listen:Understand what makes an everyday leader. Learn the difference between steward leaders and servant leaders. Discover how you can live with a mindset of stewardship.ResourcesEpisode DetailsEpisode Highlights[03:37] What Is “The Everyday Leader?”Leadership is every day—it is who and what we are.Everyone is capable of becoming a leader. You have to believe that you are an everyday leader.Listen to the full episode as Tim shares the topics he will be discussing in Seek Go Create’s The Everyday Leader series. There are different ways to assess ourselves as leaders. [12:03] Tim’s Experience with Leadership Tim is a student of leadership through various experiences in life. He has different roles in life wherein he is able to practice his leadership skills. [13:24] What Leadership Is Not Leadership is not a position or title. You do not have to achieve something to be a leader.Leadership is not being a bully or manipulating others. It is not a quick skill—it's something that is developed over time. Leadership is not based on luck or being in the right place at the right time. It is about your character—who you are.“My definition of leadership is being a steward over those people, places, and or things that God has gifted you with.” - Click Here To Tweet This[18:00] Are Leaders Born Or Made?   There is no clear cut answer, but Tim believes that leadership is a combination of both beliefs. There are a lot of things that come into play when looking at leadership and influence. Leadership takes time; it is a process. “A steward is not an owner, but he or she is responsible for taking care of something or someone for the ultimate owner.” - Click Here To Tweet This[19:45] Defining LeadershipThe common notion of a leader in society is someone who has influence. The modern-day definition of “influencer” is not positive. Tim shares how he read about a university that offers a 3-year degree to be an influencer. For Tim, leadership is stewardship over people, places, and things that God has gifted you with.[23:05] Definition of Stewardship A steward is not an owner but someone who has the responsibility of taking care of something for the ultimate owner.Tim and Glori became stewards when they used to house-sit for others.Stewardship is a foundational principle of leadership. We are all stewards of God's gifts. Your perspective about stewardship will help you succeed. [28:07] Business and MinistryBusiness is a person or a group of people working together to produce something others will be willing to pay for. Ministry is a group of people working together to deliver a message that others desire, a belief system. Some people might disagree, but Tim believes combining Ministry and leadership is possible. Some businesses are not good stewards of the people who work for them. Businesses could use more heart in treating their employees. Ministries, on the other hand, may have great missions but don’t handle the business and marketing aspect well.[32:10] Process of Leadership  We should desire to be a lifetime leader. Your mindset and attitude should be exercised 24/7. A hypocrite is someone whose words don’t align with their actions.Be an everyday leader. The goal is to attract leadership and influence characteristics, skills, and traits, instead of chasing after a role or position.Effective leadership is when at least one person in a group has experienced skills preparedness and the attitude to make the sum total of that group more than the individual parts.“I think the goal is to attract leadership and influence characteristics, skills, and traits, not to chase after some leadership role or position. It should be a lifestyle, not a title.” - Click Here To Tweet This[35:06] Stewardship vs. OwnershipPeople get arrogant when they think they are the owner and the ultimate authority.A person may have a title that is beyond their humility. The pressure to lead may give you a difficult time.Work with a mindset that you hold a gift that is not yours.Should leaders have followers? There will come a time for you to be pushed into being a leader, and you should be prepared for it.[39:00] Servant Leaders“You are not going to be a leader tomorrow. You're a leader today.” - Click Here To Tweet ThisA servant leader is servant-minded. Servant leaders tend to be more subservient to someone

Take Nothing For Your Journey | Season 2 Episode 6

We are often scared of taking risks and making changes due to other people's opinions and the things we are going to leave behind. There's so much holding us back, so much to think about, so much to carry. In Luke 9:1-6, Jesus gives authority to His disciples to go out without fear and share the Gospel message. Without any money or food, they took on the role Jesus gave them and changed the world completely. He simply led a nomadic life.In today's episode, host Tim Winders discusses Luke 9:1-6 and how it impacted and encouraged him to be a full-time traveler. He shares with us the importance of scripture in today's world and how our possessions are holding us back in living a fulfilling life. This episode is for everyone who is thinking of living the nomadic life but is still on the fence and can't make a decision.3 Reasons to Listen:Discover the teachings of the Lord through the analysis of Luke 9:1-6. Tim shares encouragement in living a nomadic life through the words of God.You will learn how to leave your possessions and avoid holding grudges against those who hurt you.ResourcesConnect with the SeekGoCreate Network! For updates and more episodes, visit our website or follow us on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.Episode DetailsEpisode Highlights [02:32] Luke 9:1-6Even if it was 2000 years ago, the teachings of God are still relevant today.Luke 9:1-6 discusses the tasks and instructions Jesus gave to His disciples, which involves living a nomadic lifestyle.Jesus gave them power and authority to drive out demons, preach the kingdom of God, and heal the sick.As disciples, we have the ability and assignment to preach the kingdom of God.“Everything in my life really goes through the paradigm or through the lens of my faith.” - Click Here To Tweet This[10:56] Verse Three: Take Nothing For The Journey To A Nomadic Life In the third verse, Jesus told His disciples not to carry any tools, go, and do what he told them to do. It was a simple instruction that resonates with how people live their lives in current times. As disciples, we need to discover our assignment by asking Him and not through listening to anyone else's opinion.Without the power and authority of being a disciple, you may run into a lot of roadblocks and challenges.Tim and Glori believe that God said to them, “I can't send you where I want to send you, living in this big house with all this stuff. Because you think about this stuff more than you think about me.”“Listen, I believe that we can have multiple homes, and you can live all over. I just don't want that stuff to own you and keep you from taking nothing for your journey.” - Click Here To Tweet This[17:40] Verse Four: Taking The Stewardship Role In A Nomadic LifeJesus's disciples were living places they didn't know, and people would take care of them. We all have our own rules.Don't let possessions dictate what you do or where you go. Be careful of what you're treating as idols in your life.Back then, houses, cars, and other material things played an important part in Tim's life. He has since learned to be cautious about treating similar things as idols.“Don't let possessions dictate what you do or where you go.” - Click Here To Tweet This[21:18] Verse Five: Shaking Off the Dust and Moving On To Live A Nomadic LifeIn the fifth verse, Jesus told His disciples to shake off the very dust off their feet as a testimony against the places that did not receive them with gratitude.Don't let hostility from other people take hold of you. Move on to the next place instead of holding a grudge.Don't allow other people's thoughts and opinions to control you in any way. Everyone is aiming for the “American Dream,” where you get a house, live your entire life there, and build equity. It’s not wrong, but this life may not align with the teachings of God. People can be mean and awful, and you may also take their intentions the wrong way. Don't let it stop you from fulfilling your role as a disciple and living your truth.“If someone isn't celebrating you, if they're just tolerating you, just move on to the next place. Shake off the dust. Don't think about it, don't let it take hold over you, don't hold a grudge.” - Click Here To Tweet This[25:10] Verse Six: Fulfilling Our AssignmentIn the last verse, Jesus told His disciples to depart, visit each town, preach the Gospel, and give healing everywhere. The teachings of Luke 9:1-6 can also be helpful for businesses.[28:24] Final Thoughts on a Nomadic LifeMain points: Receive the Lord’s power and authority, take nothing for the journey, go out, move along when met with hostility, and don't let possessions hinder what you're supposed to do.  It doesn’t mean you have to get rid of your stuff and hit the road. Get the power and authority from God if this is your assignment.Listen to the full podcast as Tim shares a story to help you further understand the message of Luke 9:1-6.“Don't allow other people's thou

There would only be a thin line between a vacation day and a workday while working on the road. You can be more prone to distractions while working on the road. One of Tim’s biggest struggles is having a high-speed Internet connection while working on the road, as this is necessary for their daily business operations. “I realized that doors were being opened where we can be more mobile in those businesses.” - Click Here To Tweet This [09:32] Americas Mailbox When Tim’s family decided to start up a business, one of the things they forwent is a legal address. They looked for states that are friendlier to people who travel full time. In their case, it was South Dakota. They receive their mail through Americas Mailbox. The company has legal residents who will accept mail for you and forward it wherever you are. This can help you have a legal address for other transactions such as banking and filing for taxes. “One of the key things to being successful is consistency in your work habits.” - Click Here To Tweet This[15:25] Addressing the Internet Challenge While Working on the Road They made efforts to be in RV parks or resorts to have access to electricity, water, and Internet service. However, you do not need to depend on their Wi-Fi service. You can get a router that allows an antenna to go up higher on the roof to access additional signals. You can also have hotspots, and some of them have unlimited data. A cell booster can also help strengthen the signal while working on the road. “One of the biggest hindrances to people being successful is managing distractions in their lives.” - Click Here To Tweet This [22:15] Having an Office Space Functional office space is necessary. It can condition you to be in “work mode.”  [24:33] Camp Hosting and Working on the RoadCamp hosting or park hosting is where people can come and stay in an RV park for free in exchange for working on the road for two or three days a week. Some of those who do this are already retired, but they just want to be working on the road. You can do this if you want to travel, lower your cost, and do some cool things. “If you've got the opportunity to take a sabbatical from your work, take a sabbatical and go travel. If you've got the opportunity to be more mobile in your work or your business, give it a try.” - Click Here To Tweet This [26:02] Freelancing While Working on The Road You may also opt to start your own virtual business helpful while working on the road. You can offer freelance-oriented services that can aid you while working on the road, such as coaching, coding, and consultation.“Try it, do some of it, see what works for you, what doesn’t work for you. Living on Wheels | Season 2 Episode 4

Have you ever imagined what it’s like to live on wheels? Isn’t it fascinating that you can just start up the engine and go somewhere whenever you think of it? It’s the secret dream of many and only a few can muster up the guts to actually accomplish. If you’re usually consumed by wanderlust, you’ve probably found yourself lost in this thought. What is it really like to live on wheels and live a nomad life?In this episode, you will get to know how Tim and his wife took their life and business on the road. He shares how they ended up moving into a 39-foot Class A Motorhome RV and pursuing this lifestyle. Tim also discusses the pros and cons of traveling and living in an RV at the same time.If you want to take a glimpse of how it is like living a nomad life, then this episode is for you!3 Reasons to Listen:Find out how Tim and his wife shifted to the nomad life.Learn some tips and tricks when buying an RV.Discover the advantages and disadvantages of living in an RV.ResourcesRVTraderEpisode DetailsEpisode Highlights[01:00] The Lifestyle ShiftThey started living in their RV on the first of January, 2019.It’s a world that Tim was unfamiliar with. The cool thing about this lifestyle is the shift in your way of thinking.[07:22] How it StartedThey originally wanted to travel again as they did before—house sitting and flying on a plane. His wife told him it would be cool to travel and not have to pack and repack every time. One day, his wife said, “I think that we’re supposed to get an RV,” to which Tim responded with a shocked face. They researched to see if it’s possible to do their work on the road.“Just like a lot of things, you go through life, and you think you've seen things, you think you know things, you think you're kind of smart.” - Click Here To Tweet This[10:11] The RV CultureThere are different types of RV: Class A, class B, class C, travel trailers, and fifth wheels, among others. It is a complex decision because there are so many options.[11:31] The CriteriaThey wanted to spend as low of a capital outlay as possible.Their first concern is they didn’t have a pickup truck to pull the trailer that will fit their criteria. They need space to sleep comfortably and cook. They need to have a mobile office space.[14:19] Making the ChoiceOnce they had the criteria, they proceeded to find something that had layouts or plans to fit what they needed. They started narrowing it down to class A motorhomes. Motorhomes are RVs that have a truck or a motor that you can use to move around. They look like big boxes and are built on truck chassis. Class A motorhomes can get up to about 45 feet. The class Cs are smaller types that can be as small as 23 to 25 feet.Class B or sprinter vans look like a big van that you can move in and out of things and drive easier."Some people, of course, they put on a happy face, which is what we do on a lot of social media and YouTube and things like that. But I will tell you, there's a lot of people that tell it like it is.” - Click Here To Tweet This[18:01] The LayoutThey wanted multiple living spaces so that they could divide some things up.They decided to get an older RV to do some renovations.RVs are a lot of brown and dark colors, carpets, and bright lights. However, Tim and Glori are more into lighter colors and minimalist furniture designs. The value of a vehicle depreciates quickly. They narrowed down the age bracket to 2001 to 2008 to find quality units. They settled with a 2006 Gulfstream Sun Voyager. [22:41] 2006 Gulfstream Sun VoyagerThey found a 39-feet 2006 Gulfstream Sun Voyager in Naples, Florida. The price was under $40,000 and had 21,000 miles on it. It could either be because someone didn't use it much or they parked it and lived in it.[24:56] Making the PurchaseTim and Glori purchased it from a representative that was selling it on consignment. The representative walked through it on video. They also did their research, and they decided that the price is good. They only needed $1000 for the representative to hold it for them.Important tip: If you’re buying a used RV, you can use the help of certified RV inspection organizations. They will go out and inspect the RV for you for around $400 to $500.“Sometimes, the more choices there are, then the more complex the decision is.” - Click Here To Tweet This[28:00] RV InspectionIt's useful because you won't know what to look for and it would save you time. They handed Tim a 40-page long report with pictures, including a list of issues that may arise. The inspectors also listed things they may need for improvements. The thorough inspection gave them comfort and a head start of what needed to be fixed.Tim and Glori then proceeded with the transaction.[32:27] RV CampgroundWhen he first drove it, he ran over a few curbs. He eventually started learning about swinging wide, planning, and strategizing how to drive it.When they went on their first campsite, they realized that everything takes longer in an RV.Tip: Don’t go parking

How To Live In Houses That You Do Not Own | Season 2 Episode 3

A lot of people do not know what house-sitting is. The idea of getting to live in other people’s homes for free seems unimaginable. However, it is actually a viable option and lifestyle where you can get to experience a lot of new things and travel to different places. In this episode, Seek Go Create host Tim Winders talks about his own experiences living the nomad life through house-sitting. He explains what house-sitting is and shares tips on how to get started on your own. This episode is for everyone curious about the lifestyle. Tune in to this episode to discover how you can start house-sitting and living the nomad life!3 Reasons to Listen:Discover what house sitting is.Learn about the experience and lifestyle house-sitting entails.Find out how you can start house-sitting on your own.ResourcesTrustedHouseSitters.comMindMyHouse.comHouseCarers.comEpisode DetailsEpisode Highlights[00:47] Introduction to House-SittingHouse-sitting allowed Tim and his wife to live in houses they do not own without paying its mortgage and bills.Tim and his wife considered themselves professionals, as they know they did well.Tim defines house-sitting this way: someone else owns a house—sometimes a pet is involved—and others watch over it while the owners go on a vacation or holiday. The Internet made it possible to get matched with homeowners looking for sitters all around the world.“We were professionals because we took it seriously, and we believe that we did it well.” - Click Here To Tweet This[04:27] Getting StartedIn 2013, Tim and his wife had to move out of their home, leaving them with nowhere to stay. They considered moving to Austin, Texas, and asked a friend if he knows anyone who has a place where he and his wife could stay.Interestingly, they got a call back within 48 hours from Tim’s friend’s neighbors, who own multiple homes and would like someone to watch over their house and pet temporarily. With the economic downturn of 2008, Tim and his wife evaluated their options and saw house-sitting as a viable option, considering the cost of living, mortgage, and other bills.“You need to be confident that you can take care of it.” - Click Here To Tweet This[07:03] Pros & ConsOne of the most obvious advantages is living in a home, without the responsibility of paying any bills, rent, or mortgage, in return for watching over the house and pets.House-sitting also let them experience living in different houses, with different styles and layouts, which helped them figure out what kind of home they needed and wanted. It also allowed them to explore the areas around the houses they watched over. However, one of the drawbacks is the uncomfortable feeling of moving around a lot, unpacking multiple times, sleeping in different strangers’ beds, and inconsistent Internet.Other issues can also appear, commonly from the home itself, the pets, or even the owners’ demands and expectations.[17:21] Tips & TricksTim says talking over Skype or Zoom is a great way to check if the homeowner has Wi-Fi that is strong enough for an online video call.It also allows them to see each other, establish a comfort level, and even go over some details.Tim also mentioned having a signed, detailed agreement.“It's sometimes really tough to know what you want until you’re living in it.” - Click Here To Tweet This[26:08] Pet-Sitting AspectTim says it is tough to be a nomad and have pets. However, house-sitting allowed Tim to experience taking care of pets, which he found enjoyable. As Tim took care of pets, he observed the pets got depressed after Tim had left.Still, Tim is glad that he and his wife were able to spend quality time with the pets. He sees it as a blessing.“Just try it. You know what, it might just open up some cool and unique doors for you.” - Click Here To Tweet This[29:03] Websites & ResourcesTim says interactions on Facebook groups and other free sites where sitters can be matched with homeowners are not that good.Instead, Tim signed up for websites where they got charged on a per-year basis to participate. He cited the importance of building a good profile, even putting recommendation letters from previous clients. The websites he usually got his gigs from include TrustedHouseSitters.com, MindMyHouse.com, and HouseCarers.com.[32:51] Final ThoughtsStart with your circle: your family and friends.Let them know that if they travel, you can watch their home and pets. You can also try building a profile on one of the websites mentioned above and just try it.Always be a blessing to the home you house-sit, leaving it in a better condition than it was when they came in there.“Be a blessing. We actually would always say we wanted to leave the home and the pets better than when we came.” - Click Here To Tweet ThisEnjoy This Podcast?Seek Go Create is for leaders, entrepreneurs, ministers, and everyone seeking excellence, moving towards success, or creating something new.If this episode taught you more about how God makes an empowering, positive

What Do I Do With All My Stuff | Season 2 Episode 2

There may be enjoyment in spending and owning new things, but there is also enjoyment in living a minimal, downsized life. Becoming a mindful consumer is a struggle for most of us because the economy drives us to have an accumulation mindset. We always feel the need to purchase new things and enjoy several convenient ways to shop. However, it is time we rethink our sentiments and intentions as consumers. In this episode, Seek Go Create host Tim Winders talks about his personal experiences and insights on downsizing his things and finding joy in minimal living. He shares his own process in downsizing and gives out some tips for those who want to get started on their journey. Tune in to this episode to learn how to downsize your things and discover the wonders it can bring to your life. 3 Reasons to Listen:Learn more about the process of downsizing and how to do it.Discover the reasons behind the behavior of accumulating things and why the consumer accumulation culture is flourishing. Find out how downsizing your things can be a tough but fulfilling and liberating choice.  ResourcesJoshua Becker’s books on minimalismEssentialism by Greg McKeownEpisode DetailsEpisode Highlights [00:55] What Tim Means by Accumulating Things  Many homes are full of things that have accumulated over the years. Even garages are used for storage. Our homes are filled up with so much stuff we refuse to discard. The storage warehouse industry has become massive because of our demand for extra storage space.  Some people are starting to recognize that there is an issue in accumulating, storing, and getting rid of things.  Tim was forced to downsize when he moved homes and realized that all the stuff he needed to store or move was an issue for him. [05:33] Downsizing as a Real Estate Investor Tim had his share of personal experiences when it comes to clearing out rented properties. He recounted one instance wherein he had a client who got evicted from the property for not paying and then was left with massive amounts of things to clear out. After having to clear out the said property, he started to think, “Do I really need all of this stuff?”“If everybody went to these minimalist or essentialist mindsets, we could see the economy grind to a halt.” - Click Here To Tweet This[10:36] How We Ended Up Accumulating Things  Humans have this “depression-era mindset” wherein we fear we’re never going to get things again or that we might lose them during an economic downturn. We have difficulty parting with things even though they are broken already because we think we can fix it.We are also attuned to the mindset of “You never know when you might need it.”Lastly, we hold onto things because we think they will have value someday.    “There is a strong current that is basically forcing people to accumulate, accumulate, accumulate. And if you’re going to swim upstream, you have to think differently, act differently, and have the mindset to stop accumulating.” - Click Here To Tweet This[18:17] The Marketing Machine We are forced or highly encouraged to accumulate things by the marketing world. There are tracking mechanisms or algorithms online that get to know us and our needs better, and they end up showing up on our screens or feed. They are feeding our “fear of missing out” mindset to their advantage. This has created a consumer accumulation culture. [24:15] Tim’s Process of Downsizing  It takes compassion, understanding, and patience to downsize. It took a few years for Tim to downsize, and he went through stages. He would do it chunk by chunk and ask himself questions to assess which to keep and which to get rid of. The first step is to begin and look at the junk drawer or closet. Opt for things you have control over that might not need the decision of another person. The second step is deciding what to do with the things that have been discarded. Some options are to donate, throw away, or put them in a garage sale. “It causes some tension, it can cause a few arguments, and it takes some compassion, understating, and patience. So just be fully aware of that.” - Click Here To Tweet This[30:41] Tips on Downsizing  Offer extra furniture to friends and family. Digitize family pictures and store them in a cloud or hard drive. Get the process started. It will be a blessing to your family down the road, say, when you pass away. [34:10] Questions to Ask When Downsizing  How much is it worth? What is the cost of storing it?How much does it cost to replace it? “At least get the process started because it’s going to be a blessing to your family down the road.” - Click Here To Tweet This[36:16] Takeaways from Downsizing  It is a tough process, but it is worth it. For Tim, it is liberating and enjoyable. He’s become more mi

It’s more about being open to new things and having unique, creative solutions.Thinking there is only one way to do something is a very limiting mindset. An example was when Tim was considering homeschooling his children. As entrepreneurs, Tim and his wife had to be flexible with their location, but their children’s school was holding them back on business. In the end, thinking differently benefited their children rather than harm them, as they were ahead of their peers.[21:22] The Geographic LimitTim started pushing himself to see if it was possible to innovate their business and set up new structures. He wondered what it would be like to have a business that wasn’t location-specific.Further down the road, he also thought about what it would be like to not live in the usual sticks-and-bricks stationary house. He feels as if he was forced into that lifestyle, but now he does it by choice.[26:09] There Are Many OptionsWe should realize that there are always numerous options out there. We trick ourselves into thinking there is only one option and that we are locked-in and trapped. You can make the changes slowly and not jump into it yet. There is always a process of how things happen.“There are many, many options out there, and that's what thinking differently, living differently, and just operating from a different mindset is all about.” - Click Here To Tweet This[27:50] The Irony of TechnologyWe are very digital in the modern age, but we still have a fixed mindset.Tim recounts a story of their friend who lost all their sentimental things to a house fire.We should reflect on which things really have value, and which could be minimized and kept digitally.“I find it ironic or contradictory that we are digital in so many things, but yet in many ways, we're so fixed.” - Click Here To Tweet This[30:10] Doing God’s WillTim asks God for His guidan

He discusses the principles and learnings he acquired in the most difficult moments in his life. Tim talks about the storehouse principle and the difference between stewardship and ownership. This episode is for everyone who wants to get clarification and more discourse on the last episodes.  3 Reasons to Listen: Discover the challenges Tim had faced that made his faith stronger and his family closer.Tim shares advice on living a meaningful and simpler life.Learn about the storehouse principle and the concept of stewardship. ResourcesConnect with the SeekGoCreate Network! For updates and more episodes, visit our website or follow us on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.Episode DetailsEpisode Highlights[04:00] Background StoryTim and his family are now living in a 39-foot RV they purchased a year ago. They're currently traveling while working full time. Tim is a business coach helping executives and owners grow and reach their fullest potential. He’s always had a passion for coaching other people. He is also an author, having finished his first novel. His writings are mostly about modern-day parables and fictions inspired by real-life events. Along with his family, he runs a foundation helping ministries expand their teachings.  Season 2 will focus on living a nomad life similar to what they have right now. “Final, definitive, absolute thoughts are becoming less and less common. Maybe again, it might be something related to age; it might be just that I don't know that I want to be that definitive.” - Click Here To Tweet This[10:33] The Consequences of the 2008 Financial CollapseThe 2008 financial collapse has affected Tim's family, spiritual, and marriage lives. They went homeless for a season—which he will talk about next season—and filed for bankruptcy. He still speaks with his investors and creditors and continues to repair the scars from the financial struggle they all experienced.  “We never questioned, but we also had to really dig down and decide what it was that we truly believe. And through that process, we became stronger in our faith.” - Click Here To Tweet This[13:27] More Learning Points The challenges Tim experienced had strengthened his relationship with God and his spiritual foundation. His family is now more comfortable and confident in facing other hardships. They now have greater spirituality and connection. They learned how to avoid doing things to impress other people and accumulate excessive things. It allowed them to lead a simpler life. “We really do not allow what other people think about us to dictate or rule us. And I don't want to say it so strongly as we don't really care. That's not the right way of saying it. But in many ways, that's kind of the way the attitude needs to be.” - Click Here To Tweet This[18:39] The Storehouse Principle & the Concept of Stewardship“Just because something's growing doesn't mean it's always going to grow.” - Click Here To Tweet ThisThe Storehouse Principle: Just like what was taught in the Old Testament, set aside money for good deeds or for the Lord. It's different from having a savings account: a savings account is fear-based while having a storehouse is faith-based. The Concept of Stewardship: Live as stewards rather than being owners. When you have a stewardship mindset, you take good care of the blessings you have and share it with your community. It gives people an area of humility.     “We really are more stewards than owners over all of those things that we've been blessed with.” - Click Here To Tweet ThisEnjoy The Podcast? Seek Go Create is for leaders, entrepreneurs, ministers, and everyone seeking excellence, moving towards success, or creating something new.If this episode taught you more about how God makes an empowering, positive change in your life, don't hesitate! Money: Get off the Roller Coaster | Season 1 Episode 3

Money makes the world go 'round. However, among Christians, there has always been an inherent discomfort surrounding the topic of money. We tend to avoid financial conversations as if it's taboo. This may come from the fact that money can divide us and cause us to unfairly judge one another. Aside from our relationship with others, money may also affect and compromise our values. In today's episode, Tim discusses his thoughts on money and our relationship with it. He also talks about how we can use it for the greater good without allowing it to control us.This episode is for everyone who wants a better perspective of money, regardless of our struggles or beliefs about it. Tune in to this episode to learn how to get off the money roller coaster!3 Reasons to Listen:Learn how you can use money as a tool without letting it interfere with your relationship with others, yourself, and God.Discover your money mindset.Find out how to become a steward and not an owner.ResourcesConnect with the SeekGoCreate Network! For updates and more episodes, visit our website or follow us on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.Episode DetailsEpisode Highlights[03:59] Tim’s Early Money BeliefsAlex Keaton, a cold-hearted businessman in the sitcom Family Ties, was Tim’s role model.Ever since he was young, he already knew he wanted to become successful and earn money.Tim read an article about the highest-paying jobs and found out that four out of five were engineering positions. He tried to become an engineer, even if it wasn’t a fit with his personality and skills. He started a company while in college and made more money back then.“Does money control you? Or do you control money?” - Click Here To Tweet This[08:36] Your Household’s MentalityThe mentality of your family impacts your attitude and relationship toward money.Tim had an above-average money mindset growing up.He thought he should avoid being too good at what he does.Your mindset is variable, and everyone has a different experience with money. Some could have an abundance mindset, whereas some could have a scarcity mindset.“The people that really think about money the most are the people that usually have the least.” - Click Here To Tweet This[1:11] Controlling MoneyReflect on whether you control money or it controls you. Those who have the least money think about it the most.We have to remember that money is just a tool to exchange goods and services. It doesn’t have magical powers.Money sometimes becomes a measurement of our success. Our culture wants us to spend, accumulate debt, and do it all over again.[15:45] Money & RelationshipsAsk yourself how your money mindset could affect your relationship with family, friends, and your spouse.A lot of people can’t help but compare themselves with the people surrounding them.Your friends can affect your money mindset, as well as how you spend your money.Money can also affect your business relationships, networks, and partners. As written in Matthew, “You can’t serve two masters. You can’t serve both God and Mammon.”[18:45] Conflicts About MoneyIn business partnerships, people with different money mindsets could have conflict.Although people sometimes fight over a lot of money, it’s more common to have conflict whenever money is tight. It’s difficult to bring up the topic of money in spiritual places.[21:25] Flawed Money MindsetsTim had always thought he could just make more money. It’s possible to fool yourself into thinking you can always spend money now because you will make more in the future.Tim experienced problems with his wife because she would hide money from him in case he spent it all on the business. You could also sometimes think you have a special privilege to earn money and that you deserve more.An entitlement to money can lead to a lack of motivation to save.“If you spend your life trying to buy things to impress others, then it's going to be a very empty and shallow place to be.” - Click Here To Tweet This[26:58] Pursuing PossessionsRemember that you shouldn’t try to impress other people with possessions.Tim used to pursue money to buy more and impress others. Now he lives in an RV with no real estate and low overhead costs.Comparing your financial status is a very shallow and empty place to be in.There is no long-lasting peace and happiness in comparing yourself with others.[34:17] Serving Two MastersDespite having a relationship with God, Tim felt he still chased money and was attempting to serve both God and Mammon.“I realized that I was attempting to serve both masters. I wanted to love the Lord part-time, and then I wanted to love money and chase after it part-time. And foundationally that is impossible to do.” - Click Here To Tweet This[39:03] Stewardship vs. OwnershipWe are called to be stewards, not owners.Society convinced us that we have to own the most possessions. However, once we pass away, we can’t bring any of our things. We only have the honor to take care of things while we live, not own them.Bein

And many times, we don't understand, even when we don't know all the details of our prayer or what it means.” - Click Here To Tweet This[15:14] Involvement in PoliticsTim and his wife attended a Baptist church because, in Tim’s eyes, he could network, which was favorable for a political career. He felt as if he was merely checking off his to-do list of going to church.Meanwhile, his wife was strengthening her relationship with the Heavenly Father.[17:06] The Corporate EnvironmentTim started working and wanted to become an entrepreneur to pursue money when his wife was pregnant. He always wanted to impress other people and become rich.Tim’s wife wrote in her journal and prayed to God that he would become the spiritual leader of their household. She also lifted up in prayer their finances so she could stay home and take care of their child.Prayer is a powerful thing, and you have to be prepared for what God has planned.[20:50] God in BusinessThey met someone in a mall that connected them to a multi-level marketing business called Amway, which ultimately helped their family.Tim realized he was not that good, and he began to soften his heart. In a way, the business was like a very spiritual community as you had to share your profit, and it was hard to be selfish. He made a big decision to follow Christ in one of their Amway meetings.“Business takes a lot of work. It is very challenging, and it begins to soften your heart. Because if you're one that's like me, who thinks you are really, really good at things, you can find out real quickly that you may not be that good.” - Click Here To Tweet This[26:44] The Prosperity MessageThe prosperity message can be both positive and negative.Tim experienced positive spiritual growth through the prosperity message, but it also made him think that working harder and performing better allowed his success.Be wary of prosperity statements using God to justify serving the flesh.God’s Kingdom doesn’t need any more funding. There is no magic transfer of money from the wicked to the just.[30:45] God’s BlessingsAfter doing better financially, he thought God was blessing him for the good things he did.He felt he had divinely inspired ideas and would only ask God for guidance during times when he encountered problems. When the 2008 financial crisis occurred, he cried out to the Lord because he felt He had forsaken him.God made Tim realize he was only running to Him when he had problems and didn't really have a solid relationship with Him.“To me, I believe that He said, Tim, ‘I'm not an ATM machine.
